Linkle,, my babygirl, my blorbo, my scunkles. I love her so much.

So yeah, the long awaited Linkle design I’ve been dying over making. She’s literally become my favourite character to draw recently ngl. Hyrule Warriors has a fuckin chokehold on me as I struggle through school at the moment. Kinda just really wanted to make her look like she’s a farmer that grabbed the idea of a green-clad hero and put her own spin on it.

Hyrule warriors Zelda official redesign! Full name Zelda Belloa Hyrule.

I know Hyrule Warriors isn’t a canon game, but honestly that’s what makes our rewrite of it so interesting to me. It’s both very different from the original and also kind of not that different, depending on if you’re looking at a surface or core level. We’ve made it a sort of sequel to Oot, inserting it in the child timeline between Oot and TP.

One of the things that is technically different but also sort of not really: Zelda is the main villain of the story!

Seriously, she‘s a genuinely awful person with hate in her heart. It does not matter what she destroys or who she hurts, it is all justified in her relentless quest for power. Yes she is very beautiful I know-- I did that on purpose. Traits commonly viewed as beautiful, such as thinness and fairness, are not indicators of goodness, just as traits commonly viewed as ugly are not indicators for badness. I wanted to use this common bias to further demonstrate Zelda’s deceptive nature. She is manipulative and dangerous. She is evil elf Barbie. 

I initially wanted to keep the main colour of her outfits pink, to go more in on that evil elf barbie vibe, but unfortunately making her whole dress pink made me have a severe allergic reaction and break out into hives, due to an instinct that has been deeply ingrained in me ever since I was but a wee bairn and got pissed off when in disney’s sleeping beauty the pink dress won out over the blue one even though the blue is objectively better. Nintendo needs to stop putting Zeldas in pink because blue is always objectively better especially for the blonde ones.

Her castle clothes are pretty much completely invented, but her armour is slightly more based off her canon design. Just barely, but there are some elements there. When actually going into battle, she would put her hair fully up.

Lemme tell you, this Zelda goes into battle a lot. There’s a whole section on our timeline called the age of war and it’s pretty much just her running around doing whatever she wants and totally trampling anyone to tries to stop her.

Will the heroes of the Hyrule Warriors rewrite be able to stop her bloodthirsty rampage? You’ll have to wait and see...

Now that i finally got this guy to a point where i actually like, I can more easily sketch out some mini comic page ideas that have been rotating in my head for the longest time!

idk pretty much anything about Hyrule Warriors, but I really wanted to draw my redesigns of the characters. I also thought Proxi was red so uh.. oops?

Took this picture with cloudy sunlight, but the image below is from fluorescent lighting, and boy are they different! Figuring out what lighting to use so that my watercolors look best is always interesting, plus I have to wait for the weather to change depending on what I want :P

Quick warriors redesign! Wasnt a fan of how mine was so close to the og game, which isnt a bad thing, i just wanted all the links to be vastly different from when they started their journeys to see how much they have changed (and also so they dont all look the same lol).

can we talk about how Koei Tecmo, a publisher infamous for objectifying and hypersexualizing female characters, did the zelda cast better in the gals' designs than Nintendo ever did up to that point?

Oh my god I finally redesigned her like promised and I adore this so much more. The old design was comparatively very clunky and I didn’t have much of a proper idea about where I wanted to go with the design. Now, I’ve had more time to think about how I would rewrite Hyrule Warriors, this design fits her much more. In this post I explain my personal grievances about Cia’s design, so here I’ll pretty much just go over how I changed it from the first redesign.

Here’s a link to the original redesign - I personally quite like Lana’s still, though would probably add more subtle bird-like traits to her outfit to tie her a little to Cia, possibly a hummingbird because of their symbolism.

The biggest idea I had was that she would lean very heavily into the bird theming, specifically ravens, and would have an almost masquerade look to her, reflecting her want to impress Link. Her hat and mask fit a lot more with the costume-like look, but it serves a double meaning - the red gems dotted around her outfit and the glowing red eyes of her mask symbolize Ganondorf’s influence over her and how she’s stuck in her own mind and very toxic views (one of the themes in the rewritten story is about admiration vs obsession and how Cia and Lana embody that).

I kept most of the colour palette on the warmer side instead of this odd mish-mash of cool and warm tones. Most of the reds and pinks stay close to Cia’s head, hands, and feet, to attract attention to the most vital parts of the design when in combat and prevent a mix-up of characters on the battlefield, though I did make sure to dot them around the design here and there. I turned her pants into a dress and kept a slit to show off that funky leg tattoo. Her sash is meant to look vaguely like the tail plumage of a bird. I can’t really compare it because the previous design was a sketch, but I added a lot more detail to the clothing than before, which I’m incredibly proud of.

first look at our Cia redesign for the hywar rewrite! She’s not evil in this version. She and Lana were once one being, the guardian of fate and time-- but split into two long, long ago due to cosmic cracks forming in the timeline. Now Cia just presides over fate. She has seer like powers that allow her to know all possible paths of fate-- but not the end of any of those paths.

This redesign was definitely a journey-- Cia’s design in the og game is one of the worst-- for a whole host of reasons. I wanted her to look elegant, ethereal, powerful, and glamorous. I also wanted to have her be recognizable as a redesign, despite looking very different, it’s still obvious that it is Cia. Went through a lot of sketches before we ended up here, but I’m very happy with the finished product!

She’s super cool, and I can’t wait to show more of her!

I decided to jump onto the Links Meet AUs that are popping up all over Tumblr as I’ve been inspired by a few including but not limited to @linkeduniverse , @minas-linkverse, @bonus-links so here's mine. I went with the title Linked History because I had the idea of delving deeper into the lore and the timeline and started building from there. So the timeline with be switched and I have more that will be joining the line up in the near future. But here are the main ones finished along with an OC. I will share them each separately and give more details on them then. Otherwise please feel free to ask questions and I will try my best to answer though the story is still a Work and Progress so I’m still working on fleshing it out.

I will also be adding some of the “not-canon” games/characters to the line up and story cause I want to. These include Cadence of Hyrule and Triforce Heroes.

Quick WIP before work!

I'm so excited to get this guy finished. i have many little comic ideas that include the links that i've shown so far but havnt been able to draw them out or post them because i didn't have much of a design for warriors. but the story i want to tell takes place during Hyrule warriors and so i realized i didn't need to go too extravagant with a redesign so i kept it fairly simple. (I fully plan to use his arsenal of costumes in the future though!)

While waiting for my poll to finish, I decided to finish the Hyrule Warriors (my beloved) set that I started a while ago but didn't complete. This is only the original characters (minus ganondorf, sheik, volga and wizzro because i need to go to bed soon) so no one from other games, but I really like my interpretations of them and hope you do too!
