One of the men convicted over the 2006 murder of Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya has been pardoned after fighting in Ukraine, his lawyer says.
Sergei Khadzhikurbanov, a former Moscow police officer, was jailed for 20 years at a trial in 2014.
But his lawyer, Alexei Mikhalchik, said he had now received a presidential pardon after completing a six-month military contract.
He was one of five people convicted of the crime.
Ms Politkovskaya, an investigative reporter and vocal critic of Russia's war in Chechnya, was shot in a lift in her block of flats.
Her reporting for Novaya Gazeta newspaper won international renown for her dogged investigation of Russian abuses in Chechnya.
But her pieces, which were highly critical of President Vladimir Putin, then serving his second term, and the Chechen leadership, angered many in authority.
Khadzhikurbanov was found guilty of providing logistical support for the murder.
"As a special forces fighter, [Khadzhikurbanov] was invited to sign a contract to participate in the special military operation," his lawyer told AFP.
"When the contract expired, he was pardoned by presidential decree."
The Russian defence ministry has been recruiting prisoners to fight in Ukraine, apparently taking over from the Wagner mercenary group which was the first to adopt the practice last year.
At the murder trial in 2014, Rustam Makhmudov was given a life sentence for pulling the trigger.
His uncle Lom-Ali Gaitukayev, one of those found guilty of organising Ms Politkovskaya's murder, was also jailed for life.
Makhmudov's two brothers, Dzhabrail and Ibragim, were sentenced to 14 and 12 years in a penal colony.
It has never been determined who ordered the killing.

Haha, I'm extremely normal about the fact that even after 15 years apart both Valeska twins can predict each other's steps:
Jeremiah planning ahead for the eventual moment in which Jerome will come after him, trapping him in what he knew would be an inevitable search for his proxy that was fully prepared to apprehend Jerome for him.
Jerome being able to navigate that labyrinth regardless of the fact specialists couldn't find the exit, because he REMEMBERS how his twin used to draw them and learned.
And mimic the other/get under each other's skin, effortlessly:
Jeremiah fooling literally everyone into believing Jerome was still alive, from the very detailed makeup of the scars to the SPEECH PATTERNS and sense of humor(that they somewhat share).
Jerome getting Jeremiah to react(aggressively) when he hands him the knife, being the reason he tries to confront a police captain(and break the law by hiding a criminal), ultimately making him mad AND even after death, remaining as a hard topic for Jeremiah.
Which AT LEAST means they were very close, co-dependent even. Jerome shows his most vulnerable moment while talking about his twin running away in the twisted circumstances that he did and Jeremiah felt ENTITLED to handling him, being 100% certain he would be coming for him even if
'Jerome never talked about me after I left'.
That totally doesn't fuck me up, I'm completely and utterly goddamn fine :)

absolutely wack that jesson spent so much time queerbaiting and pulling fujo antics, only to have one canonically gay man in the aphverse.
guy~de is the lone explicitly gay man in any series were aphmau is the protagonist. this includes: Mystreet, Minecraft Diaries, Phoenix Drop High, Falcon Claw University, Mermaid Tails, Royal Tales, Mod Mod World, and Void Paradox.
the only other gay men to come out of the channel are Ava's dads, from MID, who are from a totally seperate story completely devoid from canon content.

⚠️TW: sensitive topics, beware
honestly, it’s so fucking sick what they did to max’s character.
or frankly to anyone that’s been treated unjustly in the show.
to take someone that has been broken since she was a kid and show her love, lower her defenses only to then break her over and over again is a new fucking low.
this entire season the duffer brothers have set a very clear precedent that i’m sure you’ve noticed.
- if you are different in any way, suffering from any past trauma or go to a therapist for whatever reason, you are unworthy.
- if you do not belong, you are unworthy.
- if you decide to save the world, because you are the only one willing to do so, you are unworthy.
to take s*icidal characters just to make them run for their lives like pigs running for carrots on sticks only to brutally snap their bones is such a bullshit thing to do.
it’s like they’re presenting us with this hope that all of these characters that we relate to in some way can actually make it out alive and happy only to crush all of our dreams with an iron fist.
look, i get it, they couldn’t get away with it forever.
but they were also the only ones that ever really fought for it.
eddie always saw himself as a cowardly guy. that’s the only reason he gave himself up. because he thought that if he was ever gonna be brave, it was gonna be saving others. he knew that everybody outside of their little group hated him, so he also lost a little will to live. he thought that he was better off as sacrifice than as living.
max had been continuously pushed to her limits emotionally, barely finding time to find the courage to talk about it when she couldn’t even catch her breath before the next big thing. it was just her luck that it was always after her blood.
to set such a character as the ultimate sacrifice is so emotionally brutal, and to just ignore her and all the other’s death with a cheap cutscene is lazy.
fuck you duffer brothers 🖕🖕

I need non autistic people to realise meltdowns are a real debilitating thing that has a serious effect on your mental and physical health NOWWWWW!!! The way its been trivialized and lessened pisses me the fuck off. It's not a tantrum and it doesn't come from "being too weak-willed" it's painful and it's embarrassing AND MOST OF ALL IT'S INVOLUNTARY!! Don't claim to be an ally to autistic or disabled people and then make fun of people who have meltdowns. Literally get the hell out of my sight

SPREADSHEET OF PALESTINIAN ESCAPE FUNDS‼️TIME SENSITIVE
Operation Olive Branch is a continuously updating spreadsheet of Palestinian escape funds where progress towards their goals is being tracked. As of right now, there are over 100 funds listed there.
Any amount of money can make a difference. With their recent decision to bomb Rafah, the only remaining “safe” territory in Gaza, Israel has forced Palestinians into a corner by giving them nowhere else to go. The international community has given Israel the ability to act with impunity - it is long past the point in time to rely on those in power to hold Israel to any standard of compassion.
Today, I want you to look at this document, choose a fund, contribute to it, and share it. The people in Rafah are living on borrowed time. Free Palestine.
