3.104 Concerns
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I woke up thinking about how bummed Sophia was about not being able to go to the beach in Tartosa. I mean, I was too, but it seemed to hit her especially hard. No one else I knew loved the water more than her—not even Yasmine, who declared herself a "water baby." I got a brilliant idea in the shower that was sure to make Sophia happy and presented it to her at breakfast.
"Let's go to the lake in San Sequoia. We can invite my dad and Alessia and make a family day of it."
Her eyes were as bright as Winterfest lights, and I gave myself a pat on the back.
"Yeeees, that's a great idea! Wait, your sister is still here?"
"Yeah. Apparently she's not going back. She wasn't as happy over there as she thought she'd be." I snorted at a new thought. "Plus, she probably met some loser here."
"Luca!"
"What? She's not exactly in the market for quality men right now."
"Still. You haven't met him yet and already labeled him a loser. It isn't nice."
"Yes, ma'am."
"Stop!"
I chuckled and reached for the phone to inform Dad about my plan, but he advised against it. A thunderstorm plagued the area, so once again, the weather dashed our beach plans. But Dad countered and suggested a family movie day instead, so we all braved the storm and headed to Anchorpoint Wharf.
Tumblr media
I thought the movie was funny, but Sophia said it bored her, which surprised me, seeing as she was the token goofball of the two of us.
After the movie, we hung out at Dad's house for a bit. Alessia caught us up in her life, and just as I suspected, she had met someone; I knew her so well. Apparently, they met at our party. They were at the bar and noticed they were both doing the exact same thing. She had this weird ritual she did in restaurants where she wiped down glasses, utensils, plates, and whatever her mouth or food touched. He was doing it too, and they locked eyes. The way she talked about this dude was different. Usually, she didn't care to get to know the poor fellas on this roster, and we never got any details about them. But her tone was so giddy it intrigued me. Could he be the one to break down her wall? I knew my dad hoped so. He really wanted to walk her down the aisle.
Tumblr media
I realized we hadn't heard from Sophia in a while, so I turned around to check on her. She had droopy eyes and a frown, and everything inside me wanted to panic. But she wouldn't want me to do that in front of them. When I found an appropriate place to make our exit, I took it and ushered her and the dogs back home. Once we made it inside, we settled in the office to talk. It seemed like all our important talks occurred in there recently.
"What's wrong?" I asked. "Are you feeling alright? What can I do??"
Tumblr media
She shifted in her seat and looked everywhere except in my eyes, alarming me even more.
"I, umm... I'm concerned."
"About Alessia?"
"About getting pregnant."
My throat tightened, and I swallowed a few times to keep it open.
"Oh..."
Her confession lingered in the air like steam after a shower, and I wasn't sure what to say or do.
"I've taken a pregnancy test every day since the engagement," she said, still not making eye contact with me. "I know these things take time, but... It should have happened by now! My birthday is way too close, Luca. I'm running out of time."
Tumblr media
I was in such a weird spot. I wanted to hold her and tell her to keep the faith, but this was bad news for me, too. She wasn't the only one looking forward to bringing a baby into the world. But it was her body going through that, not mine. And as much as it hurt to hear that, I still had a level of detachment she didn't have.
"Is there something we can do?" I asked. "I mean...is there...a test or something for that?"
Finally, she looked at me as if awakening from a trance.
"Yeah, actually. There is." She shook away those sad feelings and sprang into action. "I'll make an appointment right now. I guess I've been too flustered to think straight. I could have done this days ago."
She called her doctor and scheduled an appointment for the next afternoon. When she hung up, I finally embraced her like I wanted to and told her everything would be okay. I didn't know how true that was, but I had to believe it for the both of us.

It's another rainy day in Hawkins and Will is lying in bed in his dark room. It's still technically light out, barely five pm, but the clouds are so thick it barely matters. Still, Will had left the lights off. The dark house seems fitting for his mood even though it still always freaks him out a little bit.
Lucas had called to let him know that he wouldn't be able to make it to the movies after all, which of course meant that Mike suddenly had an excuse too. Will can't remember the last time Mike had allowed himself to be alone with Will. Will should be used to it by now, but it's hard to accept when it still hurts every day.
His eyes fall to the Walkie on his nightstand - he doesn't know why it's there. He hadn't used it since before they left to Cali, yet somehow it had ended up on his bedside table anyway after the move back. Maybe he'd hoped the distance truly had been a physical one after all, but apparently it doesn't matter how close Will lives, he's still too much effort.
Will doesn't know why he reaches for the Walkie, probably just feeling sorry for himself.
Will: Mike, it’s Will. Over.
(Silence)
Will: Mike are you there? Over.
(Silence)
Will turns onto his back and stares at the ceiling, his thoughts running away from him as his fingers stays stubbornly pressed on the 'talk' button.
Will: Of course not, why would you be. We haven't used this channel in years.
(Silence)
Will: I just wanted to say to say that I'm sorry, if there's something I did... I mean I know it's been rough lately but I just... I wish i could fix it. I wish there was something I could do to make everything right again.
Will: Mostly I wish I knew what I did wrong - or am doing wrong, I guess.
Will: I just - I miss you.
Will: *chocked up* I really really miss you.
Will shuts off the comm and punches in the antenna, turning onto his side as he lets his tears flow freely, sobbing quietly to himself as he allows the feeling of grief to consume him.
Fifteen minutes later, his tears have mostly dried out, and he's pulled from his contemplation by the sound of loud knocking cutting through the house. The lights are still off, so anyone should assume no one is home. Yet, he still pulls himself up from his bed to go investigate - there's always a chance his mom forgot her keys.
To his complete and utter surprise, the person standing in front of him is Mike, soaked to the bone and bike carelessly thrown on their front lawn. He's breathing heavily, not wearing a raincoat - which is just so typical it actually makes Will annoyed at him - and his wet hair sticks to his face.
All of this to say, it takes a second too long for Will to realize Mike has been crying.
"Mike?" He asks, aware he should open the door further and rush him in from the cold but strangely hesitant to. That does not stop Mike from pushing past him, however, always too comfortable in Will's space. "What's wrong?"
"You turned off your comm."
"Oh."
OH.
Will's eyes widen as he looks at Mike in shock, realizing his private conversation had not been so private. "I'm- I didn't think you were listening."
"Yeah, I know I just-" Mike seems to shake himself, forcing his eyes to meet Will's. "Look, it's not something you did, okay?"
Whatever Will had thought Mike had rushed through the rain to say, it hadn't been this. It should be a reassurance, it should be a relief, but Will knows it's bullshit. The words dig under his skin immediately, picking at hurt and frustration already buried deep.
Something hardens in his chest, and he's surprised by how bitter his own voice sounds as he bites back; "You keep saying that, Mike, and yet you still love punishing me!"
"What?" Mike's face scrunches up in incredulity.
"You say I'm your best friend and I'm different from the others yet you cancel plans whenever it's going to be just us!" Will notices the way Mike flinches at his words, turning in on himself as if trying to hide. "When is the last time we've actually hung out? Just the two of us? When is the last time you didn't ignore or dismiss me whenever we're hanging out with the party?"
"I-" Mike stumbles over his words, eyes looking away from Will and focusing on the carpet. "I'm sorry."
Will freezes at the tone of his voice, noticing to his surprise that Mike is crying again. It takes everything in him to keep his hands to himself, knowing that overstepping his boundaries is the last thing he should do right now, being touched by Will the last thing Mike wants.
Still, he can't help taking a step forward.
"Mike, what's going on?"
"I just-," Mike looks up but refuses to meet Will's gaze, looking around the hallway in frustration. "I don't want you to hate me."
"Why would I hate you?"
Mike sniffles, before allowing his eyes to finally meet Will's, so filled with misery it takes Will's breath away. "Because I'm a horrible friend."
Will frowns, but Mike doesn't allow him to interrupt. "I keep screwing up! I keep doing it wrong! I try to keep to myself and you get upset because I'm ignoring you. But if I wouldn't - if I'd just let you close again I might do something stupid and then you'd definitely hate me so I can't do it right and I'll definitely lose you and I already miss you so much it hurts every day."
"What would you do, Mike?" His voice is barely a whisper but it cuts through Mike's words, immediately capturing his attention. Mike's gaze fixes on him, suddenly heavy and loaded, compressing Will's lungs and making it difficult to breathe. Will hadn't noticed how close they'd gotten - this isn't close for them, and yet it's like Will's skin is already touching Mike's, the air sparkling with electricity as space warps around them until it's nothing, their atoms blending together.
Will watches as Mike seems to forcefully close his mouth and swallow, and glances up just in time to notice the way Mike's eyes cut back up from his lips. He knows it's wishful thinking, knows it's stupid and ridiculous and that it isn't actually happening, but his heart thrums with anticipation anyway, his arteries fluttering underneath his skin in nervous excitement.
He tries to focus, tries to get back to Mike's words so they can figure this out once and for all. More than anything he needs Mike to explain, he needs to know they can work through this and be best friends again. He would never forgive himself if he screwed this moment up, if he got lost in the wrong moment and proved once and for all how bad a friend he truly is.
"Mike, define stupid."
Mike's hands are on his neck, thumbs pushing his jaw up as he pulls Will flush against him. Will's chest erupts as Mike's lips meet his, his heart exploding in his chest as butterflies take over its job. His brain is blaring in alarm, but the rest of his body isn't paying attention, too busy melting into Mike's. His hands come up to clutch at Mike's side, fingers skimming his ribs and clinging onto the fabric of his shirt as he pulls Mike as close as he can.
Will's lungs aren't working, and yet it feels like he's breathing for the first time in his life.
Mike pulls back way too soon, staring at Will in horror as he takes a step back, hands reluctantly following. "I'm - I'm sorry."
He looks like he wants to dash past Will and back out into the downpour, but Will stops him, crossing the distance until he's standing back in front of him.
"No- Mike-," He reaches out without meaning too, years of restraint suddenly flown out the window apparently, and cups Mike's cheek, forcing him to look at Will again. He doesn't have any words, can't really speak, but Mike seems to get it anyway, seems to understand that Will isn't mad.
"You're crying." He responds miserably, aiming his gaze at the floor, cheeks aflame with embarrassment, and oh- yeah, Will is. He hadn't realized until now, but he definitely is. This explains the lump in his throat and the sting in his eyes.
Will sniffles and forces himself to smile, giving in to his own desire for the first time in his life as he reaches up to press a small kiss to Mike's lips. A quiet reassurance, louder than a thousand words.
Mike's eyes widen as he looks down at Will, lips parted in awe.
"I'm sorry. It's just," Will flushes as he takes a step back. "I thought that you would hate me. I guess I'm just... relieved?"
"You-," Mike's voice cracks. "You don't hate me?"
"No!" Will insists, eyes searching Mike's face. "I could never. You're my heart, remember?"
Something cracks in Mike's face, but before Will can look too closely Mike is pulling him forward, hiding in the crock of Will's neck as he hugs him tightly, body shaking with sobs.

Rey...A Mary Sue?
When it comes to the Star Wars fanbase.....Disney is the maker of many of their own problems. Disney has blown things out of proportion. They've attacked their own fanbase and then hidden behind that very slander to avoid criticism. They haven't honored the very audience they seek to make a lot of money from, not to mention the franchise. They've bounced around between visions trying to please everyone and then pleased no one.
However, the Star Wars fanbase is also to blame for many of their quarrels, grips and dissatisfactions with the franchise. Oh, you don't like the corporatized Disney sequels? Well I remember you didn't like the prequels which George Lucas actually did them. Disney sequels are too comedic? The movies would've been better if there was less humor? Well the prequels were too whiny, political and serious.
It's not enough that Disney films are more diverse, have a female lead and have more females on the production side..... unless those characters are saying, doing and being portrayed exactly how the fanbase would like.......then Disney is still misogynistic and racist.
Tumblr media
Carrie Fisher, The Princess, faced sexism, ageism and body shaming from both Disney and the Star Wars fandom prior to returning for The Force Awakens. Since he passing obviously many people would like to forget about this or flat out bury it.
Carrie Fisher tells British Good Housekeeping that she was pressured to lose more than 35 pounds to reprise Princess Leia in The Force Awakens: “They don’t want to hire all of me — only about three-quarters! Nothing changes, it’s an appearance-driven thing. I’m in a business where the only thing that matters is weight and appearance."
She first donned that golden slave bikini when she was 27. Thirty years later, Carrie Fisher’s back as Leia in “Star Wars,” but apparently some viewers thought she’d look exactly the same. The 59-year-old actor was the unfortunate recipient of a barrage of hateful tweets from critics who felt the need to tell her she’s aged badly in the past three decades. She Tweeted, "Men don't age better than women, they're just allowed to age." Meanwhile, Harrison Ford looked old and Mark Hamill looked liked a drunk.
Tumblr media
All of this is to say the question of whether or nor Rey is a Mary Sue isn't a simple one. While Disney LucasFilm didn't develop the character as well as they could have.... the audience largely had double standards. Rey, as a woman, had more work to do to win over an audience already suspicious of the feminization of Star Wars.
Let's address the criticism
Why does Rey seem so skilled?
Rey works for Unkar Plott scavenging. It would make sense she understands engineering and mechanics. She has to understand how things work, which parts are valuable and understand that about multiple forms of machinery. How does she fly? Just fly, not even combat fly. If in her introduction she was shown to be flying commercially maybe people would've let it go, I'm not sure. Luke and Anakin by contrast turn out to be expert pilots who fight in combat..... no one questioned a thing and one of them is a child. When she initially flies the Falcon she does an alright job and in the three sequels films we never see her fly in combat. Finn never learned how to fly!!!! He famously needed a pilot, yet, got a crash course in The Last Jedi enough to fly at the end against the First Order. She speaks droid, but all our protagonist in Star Wars do. Someone has to be able to understand them.
Tumblr media
Rey has no flaws and she's so perfect.
No, actually she's not. Rey is extremely vulnerable, lonely and requires validation. She fears she's gonna be an old woman cleaning gear on Jakku, but she doesn't leave. The only character she really relates and connects to.... is the villain. Yes, she's likable and she's suppose to be because she's our protagonist. Who the hell finds fault with either the character or the production team for trying to make their main character likeable?! Other characters are attracted to her. It's important to note that most force users come off as charismatic, magical and attractive.
Does Rey have a personality?
Yes. Many people get held up on the fact that Rey seems to be bubbly and happy despite growing up in isolation in a tough environment. Initially, with Finn, she comes off pretty hostile and untrusting. It was only when she assumed he was resistance (something safe) and he went along with the assumption that she relaxed a bit. She responded with anger at him just grabbing her hand, but when he showed concern for her then she reciprocated. Neither Finn nor Rey have proper social development which explains why they latch onto one another. Not to mention both are outsiders thrown into pivotal roles without much concept on how to deal with those roles.
Rey is also very childlike. It's something Kylo Ren tries to push her out of. She waits around for her family for years. She licks plates and plays with the resistance helmet. She latches onto people. She latches onto Finn once she trust him. She latches onto Han perceiving him as an ideal father figure. When she forms a connection to Kylo Ren she latches onto him. She's loyal to the people and things she cares about. There were things that could have helped Rey become a fuller developed character. Rey can fight but we never learned WHY she learned how to fight. Has she been stolen from a lot? Has she been attacked? Was she trained? Rey was taken at a young age, what schooling did she receive? Did she just learn trade work? In the novels, her character is obviously developed more, but Lord! People really act like any oversight of character development was a feminist statement about perfection. In reality, it was a film trying to balance multiple characters in a 2.5 hour film.
Tumblr media
Rey doesn't have any training and yet is so magical with the Force.
Rey is assisted by The Force. Force users can use the force with very little understanding of it or training. Anakin as a 9 year old is just winging it. So there's that. Now the first time she encounters Kylo Ren, she's terrified and running/shooting for her life. When he force freezes her she's helpless. When he puts her to sleep with the force, she has to be rescued by men.
Now this is the most important. Her bond with Kylo Ren is one of the reasons she's able to access more of and learn about the force. "A Force dyad, also known as a dyad in the Force, was when two Force-sensitive beings had a unique Force-bond—that was unbreakable—that made them one in the Force. The power of a dyad was as strong as life itself, with the individuals forming the dyad sharing a connection that spanned across time and space."
They don't play this up enough in the movies. In the novels it's clear that their minds bridge. She's able to access Kylo's mind from understanding how he accessed her mind. Their bond boost both of their strengths in the force. It's important to note that Rey's abilities actually terrify her.
Tumblr media
Rey knows more about the Falcon than Han Solo.
She explained that Unkar Plott installed a compressor which Rey was aware of and both Han and Rey agreed put stress on the hyperdrive. After her assistance bypassing the compressor Han is firming in control of The Falcon.
Tumblr media
She beat Kylo Ren at the end of the Force Awakens despite never holding a light saber.
Well, I agree with this one. Kylo Ren wasn't trying to kill her. He was sparring with him and testing her talents. If he wanted to kill her, there was a convenient cliff he could've pushed her over. He wants to train her and he wants her.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Daisy Ridley is a talented and charismatic actress.... she just isn't recognized for it. The fandom looks for flaws, weaknesses and reasons to complain. I don't want to take away anything from the males in Star Wars. I want them to be great. Honestly A Song of Fire and Ice is how I'd like to see more men and women written. Some are good, some are bad, some are great, some are horrific and all are flawed.

46 WITH MAX MAYFIELD !!!! congratulation btw :)
a/n: hi hi hi hi ty for requesting.
word count: 600+
200 followers event masterlist
46."your heart is beating so fast right now. "
Tumblr media
"What the hell are we even able to do this late?" You mumbled plopping yourself down on Mike's couch.
"El and Max are gonna be here soon. We'll figure it out when they arrive," Lucas responded, shuffling around in his flannel pajamas.
"I told you this sleepover should've started at like 6:00, Mike. Not 8:00 we all know Hopper likes to drop El off like an hour later than call time," Dustin scolded.
"Well I'm sorry I thought we agreed on an all nighter."
"Who agreed to that? You know I get passed out by one every time," you scoffed. Mike simply shrugged.
"Then you're gonna be the one to get a permanent mustache drawn on you so really it's a you problem," he stated.
"Oh, I'll show you a you problem," you grumbled, pulling yourself off the couch. Mike shrunked away as you got ready to give him a friendly pummel but you stopped yourself short when the basement door opened.
"Sorry we're so late. Hop took a half hour detour to a diner," Max explained hurrying down the stairs. El right behind her.
"Oh thank god. Max, your girlfriend was about to kill me." You rolled your eyes as Mike's dramatic behavior and have him a light kick to the leg. Max chuckled lightly and took a spot next to you. Nudging her hip with yours. You smiled lightly in response.
"Alright, let's do this, what's the plan?" Dustin questioned. Silence was his only response and he groaned. "What the hell guys. This is the lamest sleepover ever."
"How about Monopoly?" Will offered. Lucas shook his head.
"No, it gets way too intense." Your eyes widened as you recalled the last time your group initiated in the game.
"Yeah, I'd rather not go home crying again, thanks," Dustin remarked.
"We could maybe just go on a walk?"
"Do you have a death wish, Mike? Do you really want to get kidnapped?" You asked sarcastically.
"What is this? Pick on Mike Night?"
"It does have a good ring to it," Lucas mumbled.
"We could watch a movie?" El claimed. Everyone pondered the thought before settling with the none deadly threat option.
You, Max, and El laid on the floor in front of the couch. Lucas was above you while Mike, Will, and Dustin sat in recliners and bean bags.
"Summer lovin' had me a blast."
"Summer lovin' happened so fast."
"Met a girl crazy for me," you sang in an off tune. Max snorted next to you as Dustin joined in.
"Met A bOy cUTe as Can bE."
"Oh yeah, get it Dusty," Lucas clapped.
"Summer DayS dRifTen AwaY-"
"Oh god my ears," Mike complained.
Mike was so wrong to think this would be an all nighter. For the fact he, El, Lucas, and Will were all passed out. Dustin was still mindlessly humming along to the tune as you and Max continued to watch the movie.
"Freddie my love, I miss you more than words can say…"
Around the time 'Hound Dog' started playing Max laid her head in your chest. Since then you haven't been able to relax. Your hands were clenched. Your whole body tense.
"Your heart is beating so fast right now," Max mumbled, her cheek squished against you. You chuckled nervously.
"Yeah well, wasn't expecting a pretty girl to use me as a pillow tonight," you stated. She snorted.
"That was cheesy."
"Hehe, welp that's my only way to stop myself from verbally freaking out."
"You don't have to be so tense, Y/n. It's just me." You bit your lip, slowly sinking into the mountain of pillows. Clearing your throat as you wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her the slightest bit closer.
"Alright just don't drool on me when you fall asleep," you muttered, allowing your eyelids to fall closed. Max circled her arm around your waist, cuddling into you.
"I won't if you don't kick."

Sometimes A Photo Is Just A Photo
Erin and Ben are apparently back in Canada and were hanging out with Chris and his girlfriend/ fellow Hallmark actress.
Let's see how the infants handle it.
Tumblr media
The "I'm Done With The Show" brigade is still stalking WCTH related posts.
"Damage Control". Boy, I hope a certain group of Hearties don't latch onto that phrase and repeat it over and over on this post like they tend to do when they can't come up with an independent thought.
This feels like it should be common sense, but don't ever "love" someone you've never met with "all your heart".
Tumblr media
Oh look who it is. foxyinspiration right on cue to prove she doesn't have a thought in her head. Sadly I've already referenced the movie Screamers on this blog so I've got nothing besides hoping she ends up like Private Ross.
Tumblr media
God forbid a woman do anything, right? Seriously, you're going to look at a photo where Ben's making a face like that but focus on Erin laughing "too hard".
Also, there are still people who don't believe Erin and Ben are a couple. Amazing.
Tumblr media
37 freaking responses. Ugh… let's break these down. Without cheating, guess how many times they claim "damage control".
Tumblr media
Private people are never allowed to go out with friends or show up in pictures on someone else's social media site. Are Chris and Julie actually private people or has the unhinged section of the Hearties fandom driven them to be more reserved and distant on social media? Just my opinion-thanks for your feedback though.
Tumblr media
Some sanity prevails.
Tumblr media
I try really hard to not make comments about people's grammar. I come from a large family of people who's first language isn't English. I learned English at a young age but it's still my second language. I get it. Having said that, what the hell are you trying to say? Also, judging by your profile picture, you're a middle aged woman. You are way too old to be speaking in hashtags. Grow up.
Tumblr media
I don't know, maybe one of these two couples are new parents and have a small child at home that limits where/when/how they're able to go out? Maybe one of these two couples live in another country and only meet up when they have a movie that's filming near the other couple? Maybe… wait a minute. Hasn't Chris been in group pictures with Erin and the other actors? I don't obsess over the actor's personal lives so I don't know when he started dating Julie, but maybe they weren't together at the time so that's why she's not in those pictures. No that makes too much sense. Surely the reason Chris and Julie haven't been in a lot of photos with Erin and Ben is because… something to do with their character arcs from the last five seasons… but those seasons had different show runners… Look, none of this makes sense right now but I'll figure out a way to make it work. I'll start with my own conclusion and work backwards to justify it.
Tumblr media
Stop making sense, you're upsetting the zoo animals!
Tumblr media
Damn, I might be clairvoyant. markrymill said almost the same thing I said. Aaaaaaand of course she ignores all those points to accuse Erin of hiding comments. If Erin was actually wasting her time hiding comments, why are yours and all the other mindless parrots comments still visible? Maybe they got reported for being spam or harassment.
Tumblr media
Say the line, Bart!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"a Governor's position that doesn't even exist in Canda!" Oh no! A historical inaccuracy in When Calls The Heart!? Wait, are we in favor of that or against it? Fans keep changing their opinion on that point. And like any of the people watching WCTH care about Canadian history. "Supposedly given a hero's arc yet he doesn't get the girl?" Women are just trophies for men to collect. Lucas is set up to maybe have an actual exciting storyline where his character does something for the greater good of society, but who cares. He didn't get the pretty decoration. It's amazing that these people will complain about the quality of the stories and writing but then say dumb stuff like this. Chris might have the chance to do something really good with his character besides look over a balcony and sip tea from a dainty cup but his own fans want to stop that.
Tumblr media
Listen up Team Smooth-Brain. I want you to follow along so grab a safety pencil and a circle of paper: For this to have been set-up, Erin would have had to fly out to Canada, taking Ben with her. She would have then had to call up Chris and Julie, hope that neither of them were working that day, convince them to not only go out to lunch, but tell them to get a baby-sitter for their however many months old baby. Instead of picking a restaurant with decent lightning she picked this florescent nightmare for her staged photo. She then told everyone to smile, took the photo, and posted it to her Instagram page to… what exactly? What was her plan to control people's reactions? Because the people who are fine with WCTH were going to write the same generic "lol so cute to see you guys be friends" comments they were always going to write and the people who stomp their feet like toddlers who didn't get the toy they wanted were going to write the same "this is all fake damage control trying to control the narrative Chris is being forced at metaphorical gun point to smile in these photos" CSI bullshit they post on every one of her photos.
Tumblr media
I hear Chris was offered a roll on a new show called Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies. He should quit WCTH and devote all of his time to that instead.
Tumblr media
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"they are trying to manipulate us again. Not gonna happen 😢" I didn't know Hallmark had MKUltra agents on their marketing team.
#AnyoneButNathan
I hope When Calls The Heart gets another show runner and I hope they break Elizabeth and Nathan up and pair Elizabeth with a woman. Any woman*. I hope this show keeps going for however many seasons it takes to get a lesbian relationship with a major character.
*Except Fiona or Faith because those two are destined to be together and you can't convince me otherwise.
Tumblr media
"Erin you're posting too many Kevin photos. It's rubbing salt in the wounds of heart broken Lucabeth fans who have PTSD just like those people currently in warzones and it's totally not tone-deaf of us to say that." "Erin you're posting all these photos of Chris to try and manipulate us into watching the next season. It's very cruel and sadistic of you." "Erin you're not fooling anyone by posting both Chris and Kevin photos. We're not falling for your damage control."

Note
Charles Xavier, Jack Dalton and Kyle Spencer for the character ask!
ooh thank you! let's see here...
First Impression:
Charles: I grew up on the original X-Men movies, so I saw him as a very cool-headed and mature leader for the X-Men, and a good fit to lead the team in difficult situations
Jack: I thought he was funny, and I liked his relationship with Mac. And being big on 70's and 80's rock, I liked his taste in music
Kyle: HOT. Like holy shit. And majorly unappreciated.
Impression Now:
Charles: I still think he makes for a good leader, but after becoming more well-versed in the world of X-Men I can also see how he's headstrong, stubborn, and a little holier-than-thou at times. Though honestly, I appreciate being able to see those flaws. It proves he's a well-rounded and imperfect character.
Jack: My opinion hasn't changed that much, but I definitely have a greater appreciation for his relationship with Mac. He really acts as a wonderful father figure and their relationship is integral to the show. I love the later seasons but they're not quite the same.
Kyle: There's a lot more dimension to his character than the show wants to focus on! Before his death, he's a genuinely kind, goodhearted, and charismatic person. And I'm incredibly annoyed at what they did with him after his death, using him as a plaything for Zoe and Madison when he's clearly uncomfortable with... well, all of it. Man deserved better.
Favorite Moment
Charles: I'm partial to X-Men: Apocalypse myself, and I really like his mind-battle with Apocalypse towards the end and how it leads into Jean Grey embracing her powers. Plus, I love the scene in First Class when they're rounding up all the team.
Jack: in the episode where they go to Chernobyl, Jack starts complaining about the radiation and makes jokes that they'll all develop superpowers. In particular he turns to Mac and goes, "Mac, you'll develop telekinesis. You're practically Professor X already" (and Mac looks confused but you can SEE Lucas trying not to crack a smile). Laughed. Out. Loud. It might be my favorite joke in the whole show.
Kyle: He doesn't get that many moments of his own since he's unfortunately just used to complicate the relationship between Zoe and Madison, but I like the flashback to the tattoo shop and how he realizes he's been put back together. It takes a really heartwarming scene of him goofing off with his frat brothers and turns it into something genuinely horrifying and heartbreaking, and really shows us more of Kyle's view on what's been done to him.
Idea for a Story:
Charles: So obviously we get a lot of origin stories for the other X-Men (Children of the Atom baby!!) but I think it would be neat to get a little more detail in his early days of his mutation, before he grew comfortable with it. I'm sure there's a comic out there that does this, but I haven't stumbled across it yet.
Jack: I get that George Eads had to leave the show and that was how they closed out his plotline, but I'd really like to see Jack's perspective on his time overseas, away from the rest of the team.
Kyle: Uh... Heartstrings.
Unpopular Opinion:
Charles: he doesn't know when to step back. He pushes his students so hard in accepting and managing their mutations, and it usually does help, but it's a very forceful tactic that contributes to as many problems as it does solutions. He's not a perfect leader and shouldn't be treated as such, that's the essence of his character.
Jack: he's really not appreciated the way he should be. He works well as the comic relief, but he's a lot more than just that. He's a great father figure to both Mac and Riley, and his presence really holds the team together. No Jack Dalton slander in this house, thank you.
Kyle: his relationship with Zoe is NOT wholesome. She blew it out of proportion after one night of flirting, and it results in her dragging him around and treating him as less than human most of the time after he comes back. She acts like he exists only to love her, and when it becomes too much to handle, she avoids the problem rather than helping him. He deserves so much better than her.
Favorite Relationship:
Charles: Cherik all the way babyyyy. Though I also really like his long-standing friendship with Hank, it's a really important dynamic that's present in every iteration of the team.
Jack: I really liked the dynamic he has with Riley, actually. He steps in as a father figure and supports her even through her conflicts with her own father, and really shows her the unconditional love and support that she didn't get in her childhood.
Kyle: pass. I like him as a character but he doesn't have any canon relationships that I like, he's treated as an object by everyone around him. This is the main thing I tried to remedy in Heartstrings, giving him a relationship that was genuinely built on mutual respect and care.
Favorite Headcanon:
Charles: does Cherik count as a headcanon? it's basically canon. Aside from that, I hc that he gets chronic migraines from suppressing the presence of so many other minds. This is most prevalent when there are a lot of students at the X-Mansion, since there are so many thoughts to wrangle, but he cares too much about them to make a fuss over it.
Jack: he's learned a thing or two from Mac. He can't quite piece it together on the fly fast enough to use it in the field, but his house is a spectacle of redneck engineering.
Kyle: he tried out for wrestling in high school but dropped out before the season was over because he was afraid of hurting someone. I feel like it just makes his post-death anger and violence issues more heartbreaking, since he tries so hard to be gentle in his first life.

I fully agree on your stance with the Yoda problem the Old Jedi Order had got going on, but why do you think the order was corrupted? Is the EU a source? (Because I haven't seen them as corrupted in the films.) Thanks for the great blog and sorry for my bad English!
Because the Prequels are about corruption, about how power corrupts (all kinds of power). Because George Lucas literatlly spelled it out to everyone who was interested in hearing. Because the Prequels are allegory for political instability and the role society and organizations play in the rise of authorianism.
The story being told in ‘Star Wars’ is a classic one. Every few hundred years, the story is retold because we have a tendency to do the same things over and over again. Power corrupts, and when you’re in charge, you start doing things that you think are right, but they’re actually not. – George Lucas in 2005
[The Jedi] sort of persuade people into doing the right thing but their job really isn’t to go around fighting people yet there are now used as generals and they are fighting a war and they are doing something they really weren’t meant to do.They are being corrupted by this war, by being forced to be generals instead of peacemakers. – George Lucas for E! Behind the Scenes - Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith
The prequel trilogy is based on a back-story outline Lucas created in the mid-1970s for the original three “Star Wars” movies, so the themes percolated out of the Vietnam War and the Nixon-Watergate era, he said. Lucas began researching how democracies can turn into dictatorships with full consent of the electorate. In ancient Rome, “why did the senate after killing Caesar turn around and give the government to his nephew?” Lucas said. “Why did France after they got rid of the king and that whole system turn around and give it to Napoleon? It’s the same thing with Germany and Hitler. “You sort of see these recurring themes where a democracy turns itself into a dictatorship, and it always seems to happen kind of in the same way, with the same kinds of issues, and threats from the outside, needing more control. A democratic body, a senate, not being able to function properly because everybody’s squabbling, there’s corruption.” [x]
I’ve said this before and i’ll say it again: corruption is so more than embezzling money or bribing officials. Corruption is dishonesty; it’s a change of purpose. It’s not as simple as being ‘evil’. And it’s not just about the big events, it exists in our daily lives too. It’s in our behaviors, our choices, even in our beliefs.
When you create a organization with the purpose of protecting all human life but then you take control of an army of slaves, that’s corruption. When you’re an elected official lying to the public and your superiors to protect your romantic interests, that’s corruption.
As I wrote before:
In the Jedi’s case, they corrupted themselves when they, by choice, failed to perform their duties. The Jedi Order maintained its status by promising to defend the Republic and all its citizens. When they failed to act on that promise and still claimed the rewards that function provided, they became corrupt. They were no longer providing the service they promised they would but they still were collecting the rewards of that position.
They corrupted themselves when they failed to stop slavery; when they allowed the rampant corruption in the Senate to go unquestioned, when they failed to investigate claims about criminal activities; when they caused mass starvation; when they refused to return missing children to their parents; when supported untrustworthy politicians to maintain their own political status; when deployed children into war zones; when they refused to send any kind of help to protect people from criminal activities; when they expelled their own members without a proper investigation or trial; when they put political prisoners in secret prisons without trial, investigation, legal council, visitation or chance of parole; when they allowed themselves to become militarized; when they played a role in the enslavement of clones; and when they lied and withheld information from the Senate.
These are all examples of the Jedi council putting what *they* thought was right above the law and above their own initial role in the Republic. It’s them breaking their promise to the Republic. Palpatine kept pushing them into making terrible decisions, and to keep their position, they wielded, thus, they corrupted themselves. Ahsoka’s trial is a perfect example of this. All the evidence was circumstantial and they were not entirely sure she was guilty but because of the political pressure they were under, they expelled her and forced a 16 years old to face a potential death penalty by herself. That’s corruption. That’s putting your own interests above the interest of the greater good. It’s doing harm to keep your status.
Anakin’s relationship with Palpatine is another great example: it was forbidden for padawans to leave the Temple with a Jedi companion, especially to spend alone time with a political. But, the moment Palpatine used his influence, they wielded even though Palpatine had no legal claim over Anakin. But, because pleasing the Chancellor was more important than keeping tradition, the rules were broken. It is another example of them forsaking their own rules and tradition for political gain.
Want another example of the Jedi corrupting their purpose and believes in the movies, just look at how Yoda and Obi-wan handled the Vader situation. They lied to Luke to get him to kill his own father. Instead of showing compassion, they plotted to kill Vader without any sort of real attempt to reach him. if luke had listened to them the rebellion would’ve been destroyed and all hope would have been extinguished. That’s why Luke is the best Jedi, because he didn’t corrupt his purpose.
I know I’ve said this a million times already but NONE of that makes the Jedi the bad guys, or worth of extermination. It only serves to make them human.
It’s not that hard to see. I mean, we are living pretty chaotic and desperate times, people are angry and afraid and it seems more and more people are letting themselves be influenced by such times. fear makes people do desperate things. that’s what happened to the Jedi. they weren’t evil people who needed to die. They were just people, normal people who were pushed into a desperate situation and in their fear and despair, they made some wrong choices that led bad things.
PS: thanks <3

Racism and BoBF
I haven't watched Book of Boba Fett yet, mostly because I don't trust Disney to do justice to the character. What I've heard from folks who have been watching is encouraging, though. I'm still leery, but I may give it a shot.
It sounds like Temuera Morrison is being allowed input into the show, which is fantastic. There are a lot of Māori influences into who Boba is as a person and I LOVE the sound of that. I'm also liking what I've heard about the Tuskens and how they're being handled. Ep 1 reviews sounded discouraging, but- surprise- it seems it's going to be more layered than one single take.
The biggest problem I've seen so far is, of course, fandom. Middle-aged white men are furious at what Boba has become, with at least one going so far as to say that he was better "when the helmet stayed on."
I've also seen people- including white women- complain that he's "boring" now, that he's been "Disneyfied" (well, DUH), and that he's basically just "Mando Too."
Look. I'm a white girl (or girl-adjacent) too, but this is Red Flag territory. "Boring" is a label that gets applied WAY too often to Brown and Black characters. Witness white fangirl reactions to Finn, who wound up sidelined in his own goddamn movies to make more room for the white villain that the fangirls loved.
If you still want to call Boba "boring," that's fine, but I hope you're able to articulate WHY, other than "he just is." I can find similarities between him and some white characters who are incredibly popular, so there's gotta be something to make Boba different and less good, right? Maybe it's the same problem white fangirls had with John Boyega: they think Temuera Morrison can't act. That he doesn't emote as well. Uh huh. Sure.
I can see being frustrated with this version of Boba being "Disneyfied," because great and little gods do I hate how the Mouse tries to sanitize everything, but until someone else buys the franchise there isn't a heck of a lot that can be done. I am maliciously curious to see what happens with the Kenobi series and if Obi-Wan will suffer any Mouse-related clean-up efforts.
That being said, however, one of the things I like about this "new" Boba is that he's being given a chance to try a different path. I won't call it a "redemption arc" since that's a loaded and inaccurate term, but I think it's great that he's trying to be a good guy now. Or less bad, at any rate.
I've seen people be mad about that, too; that Disney took a great villain, removed all his teeth, and made him a generic hero instead. It's a complaint that sounds valid and could be valid in some cases. The thing is, though, that as much as fans wish they could ignore it, Boba Fett is a Brown man. Villainous Brown men getting a chance to balance out past mistakes isn't something we get to see often, especially not in the racist landfill known as Star Wars. It's important that Boba Fett in particular is getting this chance. Previously, in the SWCU at least, that's an opportunity that has only ever been given to white men.
So, no, I don't really see the problem with a bad guy trying to be good. Especially since there are eleventy billion stories featuring exactly that. And as much as I enjoy who Boba Fett was, I'm not sure he'd really qualify as one of the Greatest Villains of Star Wars. He was memorable, sure, but his appearances were as brief as his dialogue, and as soon as Lucas realized he was getting popular, he killed him off in as humiliating a way as he could.
There's a whole lot of drama surrounding the "original" version of Boba, the white nerdbros who projected themselves onto his blank slate to such an extent that the rest of fandom grew to hate him, and the selfsame white nerdbros who had a collective aneurysm when the PT revealed Boba to be a "whiny" little Brown boy.
He hasn't had a very good history; not in canon and not in fandom. It isn't really a surprise that fandom continues to have issues with him, but personally, I'm more inclined to listen to the nonwhite fans, most of whom have been wildly enthusiastic about BoBF for the representation, the touches to native culture, and the stances taken so far in regards to colonizers. Those are the voices that matter, and they're the ones telling me that maybe I should swallow my distrust of the Mouse and watch to see Boba does next.
One thing I've heard that does sound valid is that it feels like a big chunk of Boba's backstory is missing. That can be frustrating as heck, but one can certainly HOPE that it's something that will be explored in future eps and not, for example, in some bullshit tie-in material like a book or comic. I do agree it'd be nice to know more, though, and that it's a bit of a necessary item to link Then and Now.

ch. 1 || ch. 3
・.。*†*。.・◆・.。*†*。.・◆・.。*†*。.・◆・.。*†*。.・
“Oh, hey Ava. Haven't seen you in forever. How are you? That's exactly what he said.”, Ava told her best friend while savouring her freshly baked croissant.
Yunmi sighed and took another sip form her third coffee. “I mean you actually didn't see him in nearly three years.”
Ava shot her friend a glance and snorted. “Yeah, well, that's not my bad. He decided to completely ignore me for no reason at all.”
“Yeah, because he's a jerk. That's a fact.”, Yunmi said with a smile, trying to comfort her friend.
“Totally.”
“A handsome jerk, tho.”, Ava added and drank a sip of her water, trying to avoid her friend's gaze.
“Yup, we all got eyes. But I still don't get it. I mean you two didn't even hook up, did you?”, she felt Yunmi's eyes staring holes in her body.
“No, I've told you a hundred times. We just kissed. I think I'd remember if I hooked up with fucking Johnny Suh.”, Ava sighed with frustration in her voice. Of course she thought Johnny was attractive. Well, not only attractive. It was like she was just drawn to his simple presence. Not to mention, that he was funny, smart, caring and overall just a good person. Or that's what she thought before he decided to just erase her out of his life.
She just couldn't get a hang of it. The memories she had of that night were just magnificient. The farewell party was fun and chill. Everyone enjoyed themselves while dancing or just having drinks. She wasn't even that buzzed, especially not in the moment she remembered so clearly it even felt a little surreal sometimes. But she could remember so clearly how she talked to Johnny for hours about everything. It wasn't the typical smalltalk they usually had – she told him about her worries for university, her feelings about this god forsaken town and even managed to tell him that he crushed on him for years, not having the balls to ask him out. Him being the best friend of her brother didn't make the whole situation easier, though.
And then, just like in all these movies she binge-watched with Yunmi he actually kissed her. And not like a friend, no, she remembered his lips on hers so clearly. The softness of them and how perfectly fit on hers like they were just meant to be. Yet, it felt like a dream sometimes. She felt how much passion the kiss had, it was breathtaking, like a sweet drug she couldn't get enough from and yes, she absolutely would've slept with him but she knew that he was a gentleman. They just chuckled at each other before he brought her home, promising to call the next day before her flight would take off.
But that never happened.
“Maybe you should try talking to him? Like face-to-face. You won't be able to avoid him forever, especially because of Mark.”, Yunmi said and tried to read her friends emotions but Ava just chuckled.
“Watch me.”
The café Yunmi picked out was next to the bookstore Mark worked at. Ava remembered how the spot was always closed and under construction but apparently it opened a few months ago. The style was simple and comfy. It was a light store with paintings on the walls and different types of plants everywhere. Huge windows allowed a view over the main street and the small park right in the middle. It seemed oddly familiar to Ava, even though she never set a foot in this building. But something just felt like she's been there before but she couldn't figure it out.
“I need more coffee.”, Yunmi said and pouted looking at her empty cup.
“Dude, that was your third coffee.” Ava laughed and looked at her friend, with just a tint of worry in her eyes.
“Happens when you work as a nurse. Night shifts are just so tiring here. Nothing happens anyway but I wasn't able to take a nap because I had to do all these papers.”, she said annoyed and pouted at Ava, holding up her empty cup.
The girl sighed and smiled, standing up to get her friend her needed refill.
Ava went up to the empty counter and looked for the young waiter she saw earlier but to her surprise another young man came out, looking at her with warm eyes.
“Can I get a refill please?”, she asked politely and handed the guy the cup after he nodded. His eyes focused on her for just a second, but for her it felt longer. Did she know him? His hair was dyed in a ashy-blonde color, hair framing his delicate facial features. His eyes looked warm yet they had something deep and maybe even dark about them. The way he moved looked elegant. She eyed him just for a second longer, trying hardly to think why he looked so familiar. She even felt like she somewhat heard his voice before. She squinted her eyes trying to take a look at his name tag but apparently he didn't even wear one.
“Here. Do you need something else?”, he asked.
Ava froze for a split second, realized how impolite it was to stare at a person as bluntly as she did.
“No, thank you. I really like the place, though. It's pretty.”, she smiled lightly and took the cup.
The guy thanked her, his face lightened up, a smile appearing on his face, which made her feel warm all of a sudden. Why did his smile see so familiar?
She hurried back to the table her friend was sitting, giving her her desperately needed caffeine.
“Who's the guy at the counter?”, Ava asked.
Yunmi immediately turned around to take a look at who her friend meant.
“Taeyong. He owns this place.”
After Ava stayed silent, not quite sure if she knew him or not, Yunmi added,
“He lives together with Johnny and Jaehyun in that house. We met him there once, don't you remember?”, Yunmi asked and raised a brow.
“I don't know. I guess? You know how bad my memory is.”, Ava chuckled and stared at her glass of water before giving her friend a smile.
Honestly, she wasn't sure if she remembered. Maybe she did meet him back then. Maybe not.
“He's cute, isn't he? He even makes the pastries himself.”, Yunmi said and took a bit of her sandwich after inhaling her coffee.
“Yeah, he is nice, I guess.”, Ava said, looking over at the counter where Taeyong stood. She saw how his eyes met hers, holding the eye-contact for just a bit before he turned around and went to the back.
Weird.
“There will be a party tonight at their house.” Yunmi said, eyeing her friend once more. After Ava didn't answer right away Yunmi sighed.
“We should go. It will be fun.” she added.
“Since when do you want to go parties?”, Ava asked her friend, raising her brow. As long as she remembered Yunmi and her weren't the type of girls who went to parties. They usually preferred a good movie night with food over drinks and bad music. Even in college, Ava didn't attend many of those famous college parties she heard about.
“Their parties are usually really nice.”, she smiled softly and started to play with a strand of her brown hair.
“Mh-mh. Their parties or just someone at their parties?”, Ava teased her friend, poking her cheek.
Yunmi pouted a light shade of red on her cheeks. She caught her.
“Well, you won't know if you don't join.”, Yunmi poked out her tongue at Ava, laughing softly at her.
“Fine. But if I see Johnny I'll leave.”, Ava said firmly and looked at her hands for a second. She really didn't want to attend another party where he was after the last time, even if it was years ago.
“He lives there, genius. Of course he will be there. But it will be fun, I promise. Maybe you could even use the chance to talk to-”
A glance of Ava cut her friends words off, holding her hands up in defeat.
“Fine. Or ignore him. Just come with me. I'll introduce you to some cool people, okay?”
The girl groaned until she gave in.
“Okay. I will be there. Mark probably wants to go too, anyway.”, Ava said and rummaged in her bag, trying to find her phone.
“Probably.”, Yunmi answered, seemingly uninterested if the boy would join them or not.
“Mh, can't find my phone.”, Ava muttered, unable to find anything in her bag anyway.
“Well, the bookstore is right next-door, I'll just ask him there. I think he's working.”, she looked to her best friend who seemed to have spaced out for a second.
“You join me?”, she asked, touching Yunmis hand for a second. Her best friend shook her head, smiling at her.
“No no, I need to take a nap and a shower before the party. Just, um, say hello from me, will you?”, Yunmi stood up, taking her jacket over her arm, helping to put the empty plates and cups on the empty counter.
“Yeah, sure. See you then.”, Ava said putting the rest of the plates on the counter, a bit surprised about the sudden haste her friend was in.
She sighed taking a look around the café once more before leaving it for the day. Ava tried her best to not overthink the whole situation and slowly walked to the next door on the street, leading into the small bookstore her younger brother worked at.
She strolled through the filled shelves, inhaling the magnificent scent of all the bound books walking up to her most favourite isle – old classics. Her fingers trailed over the spines, feeling their different textures. She used to read a lot, every week a new book in her hand, ready to savour it in just one sitting. Back then, it felt easy to just sit down, a book in her hands and shutting the world out completely, focusing only on the words forming these beautiful pictures inside her head, making all these thoughts haunting her in real life go away just like that. When did she lose this talent? Nowadays, she just couldn't get herself to actually read a book. She continues to buy them, placing them prominently on her nightstand, in hopes for her to just grab it in the evening but the pile of books just grew bigger and bigger over the weeks until she finally stopped to even buy them. She hoped to get back into her once most loved hobby. Even if it was just for a few minutes.
“Hey, didn't expect you to visit me.”, she heard Mark saying and turned around, a big smile on her lips.
“I wanted to surprise you, I've actually met with Yunmi. We had breakfast in the café next door.”, Ava answered and looked at her brother. She chuckled mildly. He looked so grown-up and mature in his plain black shirt with his round glasses on, his dark hair falling into his face. She realized how different he looked from the last time she saw him. Unbelievable that he was already 20 years old.
“Oh-Uh, yeah it opened up a few weeks ago. The owner is Jaehyun and Johnny's roommate.”, Mark said after he scratched the nape of his neck. “H-How's Yunmi? She alright?”, he asked casually while sorting a book from his hand into the shelv.
“Yeah, I guess. She said hello but had to rush home.”, Ava answered, shrugging her shoulders.
She eyed her brother and how he fumbled with the hem of his shirt, he seemed to want to say something but decided not to.
“Anyway.”, he exhaled loudly and cleared his throat before smiling at Ava. “I'm happy you're visiting. Want me to show you around? I mean you technically know it, though.”, her brother chuckled.
But as the good sister she is she nodded and let her brother show her all the different types of book they had and which authors occasionally came to give a reading. Seeing his eyes lighten up just by the name of  these authors made her heart melt. He explained passionately the several differences in their writing techniques and why they were his favourites. He told her how he fell in love with classic literature, especially romance and tragedy.
Ava listened to him swooning over different works and their means to past society, yet he even read modern novels. She looked at all the books, most of them she already read by herself when she was younger. She felt proud seeing him glowing up, doing what he loved without hiding.
“I just hope I'll be half as good as them.”, she heard her brother sighing when he put down the last book.
Ava put a hand on his slim shoulder and smiled at him warmly.
“I’m sure you will be. Trust me, I will be your biggest fan!”, she laughed and ruffled his hair, making him scrunch his nose before trying to fix his hair.
“Please. I appreciate the encouragement but it's still a long way. Plus mom and dad are still not very fond of the idea of me becoming an author. They think it's still a phase and that I will soon realize it's stupid and become a doctor like – well.”, he shrugged his shoulders before speaking out his thoughts.
Ava bit her lip. “I will tell them.”, she said, not believing her answer.
“When will you, though? I mean, I'm not pressuring you. I get it, it's hard but don't you think it will be even harder the longer it lasts? They're not stupid.”, Mark said looking at his sister, his eyes were filled with worry.
“I know. I'm just – imagine their disappointment. I need a plan, you know?”, she muttered, trying to avoid his gaze. She felt guilty for lying but she would feel even worse seeing the disappointment in her parents eyes when they realize she wasn't that perfect daughter they saw her as.
“Promise me you'll figure something out, okay? It's not healthy.”, he said, looking up when he heard the door open.
“Yes, I promise. Just give me some more time, will you?”, she pleaded at him, pouting as best as she possibly could.
“Sure.”, he rolled his eyes, sighing deeply before he put on a smile and waved at the new customer.
Ava turned around and saw two young men walking in.
“Hey guys, what are you doing here?”, Mark said and smiled, walking up to his friends.
Ava just sighed, silently asking the universe why it made life for her that hard.
“Hi.”, she just briefly said, trying not to look directly into Johnny's eyes. She even managed to ignore him and just gave Jaehyun a smile which he joined.
“Long time no see. You look good.”, Jaehyun said and brushed his hand briefly at her arm.
Ava chuckled, putting a strand of hair behind her ear.  “Thanks.”
She felt Johnny looking at her standing next to Jaehyun, eyeing both of them. Just like she wanted him to do.
“We're actually looking for books for the café. Taeyong wants to have some more for visitors to read.”, Johnny said after clearing his throat. Ava's eyes wandered to Johnny's just for a quick second but she already found herself being mesmerized by his presence once again. She liked the way he wore his black hair, the strands falling into his face just perfectly. Her gaze locked at his lips while he spoke with Mark about the books Taeyong wanted and even though the name still rang a bell in the back of her head she couldn't free herself from the way Johnny's lips moved. She knew how soft they felt, recognizing the feeling just too well.
Her thoughts moved back to that night like they always did and the urge to confront him about why he decided to let her hang like that grew stronger. She knew that it would probably was just a kiss for most people but for her it felt so differently. It was romantic and intimate, just how she imagined kissing him over and over again when she was younger. Plus, him declaring his feelings for her made that memory even more perfect. Yet, it all shattered when he ignored her.
She felt a hand on her back and then a breath at her ear, before Jaeyhun whispered
“You good?”
She felt the grin on his face when she rolled her eyes and nodded.
For a split second she saw how Johnny turned his head towards her, looking away just another second later, continuing to talk to Mark.
“Will you be at our place tonight?”, Jaehyun asked, not moving his hand from her back.
“I guess so. Yunmi asked me, too.”, Ava smiled at Jaehyun, wordlessly thanking him.
“Well, you can't say no now. I'd be happy if you came.”, he smiled at her paired with a short wink before laughing with her.
She heard Johnny clearing his throat and looked up to him.
“Anyway, we should head back to the café or Taeyong will be mad at us for leaving him alone for too long.”, he said while taking books off Mark's arms he seemed to have collected for them.
“Sure.”, Jaehyun said and smiled at the others, before looking down at Ava again. “See you tonight then, can't wait.”, he said, stroking her back slightly before leaving behind Johnny.
Ava felt her brother's piercing gaze on her back while she tried to look away, shrugging her shoulders.
“Stop staring at me like that.”, she hissed at Mark and rolled her eyes. She finally looked at him but he just shook his head, wanting to say something but all he did was open his mouth for a second before closing it again, raising both of his hands.
“None of my business.”
・.。*†*。.・◆・.。*†*。.・◆・.。*†*。.・◆・.。*†*。.・
Ava's head felt already heavy without any alcohol in it. She stared at the dark street in front of her, trying to concentrate on driving the car her parents gladly allowed them to use to drive to the party. Of course, she didn't even want to drink. She didn't even want to attend the party at all but she had to admit that she was curious – curious about how the people had changed, curious about how they'd behave and obviously curious about certain of these people whose names she didn't want to think about again.
Even when the last time she visited the house was three years ago she remembered the way so clearly as if she'd just was there yesterday. She took a glance at Mark who was sitting next to hear, looking out of his window, seemingly way up in his own thoughts she wished to read.
Ava sighed quietly, focusing her eyes on the street. She felt anxious about meeting all these people. No one knew about her not so graceful career, still thinking she studied medicine on some ivy league college back in the city everyone dreamed of living.  The thought of them asking all these questions she already had to answer her parents made her shiver. Maybe she should just hide in a closet until Mark wanted to go back home. Would be smarter than awkwardly running into someone again – once a day is enough.
Yet she took hours to get ready, carefully picking out an outfit, lipstick and the way she wore her hair,  trying to look casual but not too casual. The chance of running into him was just too high for her to not try to make herself look presentable.
The street got more narrow, leading into the woods where the house was.
“I still don't get why they're living in the woods.”, she sighed and looked at Mark for a second before driving on the long gateway leading to the house.
“Taeyong inherited it from his grandma or something.”, Mark answered, waking up from his thoughts.
Ava just nodded, already seeing some more cars and people standing outside. She couldn't see enough to look at their faces. The girl quickly parked the vehicle and stretched her arms once she got out, looking around. The late summer air was still warm and comfortable yet one could sense the upcoming autumn as some leaves slowly turned darker.
The siblings walked down the path leading to the entrance, which led to a huge front yard. It was lighted with small paper lamps, showing off some of the landscaping done. She even heard a fountain splashing somewhere. She looked around, not quite sure if she'd remember the place at all. The house was surrounded by a traditional stone fence and she wondered how old it was. Ava could already hear the people enjoying themselves, with loud music pounding in her ear.
From what she saw through the darkness and the sparse light the house itself looked huge enough to  probably fit a hundred people. The door was left open, shoes flooding the entrance area.
After bumping into dozens of people greeting her, smiling and waving she helplessly looked at Mark who was still right behind her looking for someone.
“You made it!”, Ava heard Yunmi screaming in her hear, an arm around her waist, pressing a kiss on her cheek. Ava could smell a note of alcohol in her friend's breath and chuckled.
“How much did you already drink?”, she asked but Yunmi waved her off, her gaze meeting Mark.
“Oh hi Mark. Nice to see you, how are you?”, she asked politely while resting her head on Ava's shoulder.
“Uhm, I'm good thanks. And you?”, he scratched is neck, looking away, probably trying to find his own friends.
“Life's great.”, she answered and laughed, removing her head from her friend's shoulder to take a sip from her cup, shaking it in front of Ava's face.
“Want something? I can totally mix you a drink.”
“No, thanks. I don't drink.”, she answered and smiled apologetic.
“I'm gonna look for Johnny. Hit me up when you want to go home, alright?”, Mark said and disappeared in the moving crowd of people.
“I take it you don't want to look for Johnny?”, Yunmi asked her friend, directly looking at her, rolling her eyes when Ava shook her head.
“Nope. So, who are these cool people you wanted me to get to know?”, Ava smiled.
Yunmi entangled her fingers with hers and dragged her through the crowd, brabbling something about a girl and a boy.
Not long after Ava spotted to semi-familiar people her friend shouted at. A girl with a black long bob smiled warmly and waved.
The boy, a bit shorter than her, with short black hair smiled and greeted her. “Ava, you must remember Ten and Sunhyung, right? We went to Highschool together.”, Yunmi introduced them but Ava wasn't exactly sure who they were. She barely remembered anyone from Highscool, though. At least not their names.
“We were in another class, though.”, Sunhyung chuckled.
“Nice to meet you. So what are you guys doing?”, Ava asked them.
“Well, we're actually officers right now. Ten is my partner.”, Sunhyung explained and smiled at Ten, who just nodded and raised his cup.
“Not on duty tonight, though.”, he winked and exed the rest of the liquid.
“Yunmi told me you're studying medicine? Pretty cool. How's life in the States? This town must bore you to death.”, Sunhyung chuckled and looked at her cup, seemingly disappointed that it was empty.
“I'm actually enjoying it. It's like a vacation.”, Ava answered and hoped no one would ask her to further elaborate on her studies, which weren't even real.
“I'd give everything to travel to a real city. The only “crimescenes” we're looking at are rather boring. It's mostly just noise disturbance or someone's speeding who isn't from here.”, Sunhyung rolled her eyes.
“Hey, last week we had one burglary!”, Ten protested.
“You mean the sixteen-year-old boy who stole some Vodka from the store? How exciting.”, his partner answered sarcastically and laughed.
“I need a refill, you want something?”, Yunmi asked in the group as she apparently spotted something at the bar which needed her attention.
Ten and Sunhyung both nooded eagerly. She didn't bother to look at Yunmi, knowing she'd say no anyway.
Ava's eyes followed her friend to the bar, by which a tall young men stood. She saw how Yunmi straightened her back and smiled at the guy, who she probably knew. Ava noticed how her friend pushed her long hair back and saw how her mouth formed into a laugh after the boy said something. Ava tilted her head, trying to figure out if the knew him or not. She would probably remember a guy like him. He was handsome, yet his face had something sheepish when he talked to Yunmi.
“That's Lucas.”, she heard Sunhyung say and snapped out of her thoughts, “He moved her two years ago. Always hangs out with Johnny and the rest.”, she added and Ava raised her brows. She was pretty sure she never saw or even heard of him before.
“I swear Yunmi has the biggest crush on him. Always swooning over his hands or something.”, Ava heard Sunhyung continue and asked herself why exactly her best friend didn't tell her anything about that guy.
“Well, quite obvious that they're flirting.”, Ten added and nodded.
“Yeah, I'm betting they end hooking up tonight.”, said Sunyhung.
“Never. Both won't make the first moves. They're flirting for months and nothing interesting happened.”, her partner replied.
“Got it in my guts. Tonight is the night.”, Sunhyung nodded with a stern voice.
“Pff, wanna bet? 50 they won't hook up.”, Ten chuckled.
“Make it 100.”, Sunhyung answered, looking at her partner while shaking his hand.
Ava's gaze meanwhile scanned the room for someone else. As if someone read her thoughts, Johnny came down the stairs with Mark right behind him.
Johnny's eyes met Ava's for a moment and she clenched her jaw. She noticed how he was moving towards her and how her heart began to beat faster in her chest.
“I'm gonna get some water or something. Be right back.”, she mumbled and quickly disappeared in the crowd, trying to keep herself as small as possible. Her eyes searched for a kitchen, which she finally found. Gladly, there weren't any people in it. Probably because the whole alcohol was at the bar and no one here wanted to drink something else.
She sighed and looked for a water bottle but all she saw were some empty cups.
“What are you looking for?”, she suddenly heard a way too familiar voice and turned around just to see Johnny standing in the door frame, a small smile on his lips.
“Just some water.”, she answered quietly, trying her best to look away from his dammed face. She saw how he moved next to her and opened a door next to her which apparently belonged to the fridge. Just a second later he handed her a bottle of cool water. Ava looked up and mumbled a quick thank you but it was enough to catch him smiling again, which made her heartbeat increase.
“I'm glad you came.”, Johnny said and leaned with his back against the door, looking down at her.
“Yunmi practically forced me to. It's nice, though.”, she answered, fumbling with the bottle in her hands, not sure what else to do with them.
Silence flooded the room and all the questions burned on her tongue. Taking a deep breath, she managed to look up at him, meeting his gaze. She locked her eyes with his for much longer as initially wanted and already felt how she got lost in his gaze just like everytime he looked at her.
He was handsome. His black hair messily falling into his face, his beautifully shaped lips curling upwards to form a small smile. Johnny's dark eyes seemed to look right through her.
“Can I ask you something?”, Ava finally found her voice and gulped, without breaking of the gaze.
“Anything.”, he answered, his voice unusual quiet.
“I need to know why you ignored me after that night.”
“What exactly do you mean?”, his brows furrowed.
“My last night here. You kissed me. You told me you'd call me the next day but you never did. And when I tried to reach out you simply ignored all my messages.” she sighed loudly, breaking their connection for a second, to gather her thoughts, “Seriously I felt so stupid. I still do.”
“Ava, listen, it's not what you think.”, she heard him answer and looked at his eyes once more.
“Then tell me, Johnny. Seriously. It's driving me insane.”, she pleaded, letting her arms drop in frustration.
Silence came up once more. The girl's frustration grew with any second passing by, not sure what she could say to finally get him to answer properly.
“I really thought about every single reason why you did that.”, she sighed, pain growing inside of her body, “And the only possible reason left is what you never liked me at all.”, she said, her voice just a small whisper, anxious about his answer.
“It's not that I don't like you. It's quite the opposite.”, Johnny said as she looked up at him again.
“I can't believe you.”, she sighed and furrowed her brows, thinking about his reasons why when he liked her.
“Listen, I'm sorry if I had hurt you but it's not that simple.”, he tried to explain but Ava just snorted and chuckled bitterly.
“Seriously just tell me directly into my face that I imagined all of that and that you're not interested. I'm not a kid and you're owing me that.” she answered, pressing her lips together.
“I can't tell you that because it would be a lie.”, now it was Johnny who sighed.
“It's the only possible explanation. Don't you want to tell me that you're not interested because you don't want to hurt me? Honestly, it would've hurt less if you'd just told me instead of ghosting me for years!”, her voice got louder such as her thoughts, which were going crazy inside of her head.
“That's not it.”, now frustration filled his voice as well. Ava looked into his face, seeing how he pushed his hair back, seemingly unsure about what to say.
“God, this is so stupid. I'm just gonna go.”, she dropped her arms in defeat, tired and annoyed. She didn't want to maintain this nonsense conversation when she wouldn't get a proper answer anyway.
Just when she wanted to move out of the door she felt Johnny's hand on her shoulder.
“Just – don't go, please.”, she heard him say and rolled her eyes.
“Then tell me why.”, as soon as she turned around she felt how Johnny laid his arms around her figure, pressing her against his chest softly.
“I'm sorry. I honestly am, please believe me.”, she felt how he buried his head in heir hair and wrapped her arms around his torso, her heart hammering loudly in her chest.
“I want to.”, she mumbled in the material of his black shirt and tightened her grip around him.
It felt unbelievably good to hug him, yet she still didn't get an answer from him, making her anxiety rise inside her body. She still didn't know why and the sudden touch confused her even more.
Ava started to wiggle when she realized her thoughts wouldn't shut up. Reluctantly, she looked up at him, loosening the hug a bit, yet not ready to let him go completely.
“This is confusing. I just want to know what's going on, please.” she pleaded once more, locking her eyes with his, just staring into them, trying to find answers.
She felt how Johnny moved one of his hands up her back, reaching her head, carefully putting one of her strands of hair behind her hear, his hand lingering on her cheek.
Her breath quickened when her eyes wandered over his face, absorbing every inch of it, until she stopped at his just perfectly shaped lips. She licked over hers, memories of how his tasted on hers flooded her mind. Her gaze went up again, meeting his once again that night.
The girl was once again hypnotised by his gaze, unable to look away this time.
Without further thinking about it, she put her hands on his neck and pulled him closer to her, to finally press her lips on his. His lips were just as soft as she memorized them, fitting on hers just as she remembered. The kiss was careful, still anxious about his reaction but when he actually pressed her closer to him, deepening the kiss her mind went completely blank.
Her eyes fell shut, her fingers slightly tightening on the back of his neck, trying to keep him even closer. Their lips moved in perfect sync, just as they belonged on each other. The girl cherished every second of it, how his hands cupped her face while one thumbs caressed her cheek, touching her so softly, as if she could break any second. The taste of his lips were sweet, she couldn't even taste a bit of alcohol, which ensure her that this was what he wanted.
As soft as the kiss was, she knew she wanted more. She needed more. After all these months of anxiety, pain and worry she finally kissed him again. Ava opened her mouth for him, allowing his tongue to play with hers, just like she always wanted to be kissed by him. Her fingers buried in his thick her, while his hands trailed down her body to rest on her hips.
Just before she could press her body closer Johnny pushed himself away, as if he'd burn himself.
Completely puzzled, the girl stared at him, not understanding what was going on.
“I can't. I'm sorry.”, she heard him say, his voice sounding strained, as he quickly ran out of the kitchen, leaving Ava alone once again.
She stared at her hands, her heart still beating fast, trying to catch her own breath. The girl felt how tears formed in the corners of her eyes and how her chest, which felt so light and carefree the other second, now felt like some heavy stone was laying on it, stealing her breath away. She had the sudden urge of fresh air and stumbled out of the kitchen, trying to leave everyone in that house behind her while not being seen. She couldn't manage to explain her situation to anyone. She wanted to be alone.
Ava breathed in the cold air and closed her eyes for a second, trying to get as much distance as possible between her and that house. She took a look at her smartphone to check the time but it wasn't even midnight yet, and she didn't want to be a killjoy and spoil Mark's fun. She made her way out of the garden and looked at the woods behind the property and stopped for a second. She heard how the wind whistled through the branches and how the leftover leaves trailed through the air. Her heart was still pounding in her chest, the latest event flooding her mind. This didn't make any sense to her. Why did he kiss her again? It wasn't just a casual kiss, she could feel that. And this time it wasn't her freaking imagination. The way he hold her and returned her kiss, the way he pressed her against his body – that wasn't imagination.
She actually believed him. She trusted his words yet he was acting like something completely different was on his mind and she just couldn't figure it out. Her thoughts went crazy and she felt how her throat got sore. Why did he stop when it felt so good? Any why did he leave her like that, not explaining his behaviour once again.
Ava kept going towards the trees, sometimes looking up at the sky which wasn't as clear as she thought. Thick black clouds were blocking the moon and stars and she sighed, yet it felt nice to move and properly breathe since the air in the house was muggy and way too hot. Or maybe it just felt like that to her. Her body felt exhausted, yet still full of adrenaline. What did she do wrong? Once again, she went through all the possibilities and couldn't get the hand of it. She didn't want to get hurt again by him, yet there she was. Feeling exactly the same as two years ago. It felt like some kind of absurd Deja Vu.
She flinched when she heard a loud crackle next to her and squinted her eyes, when she couldn't see anything. For a second, she thought someone was here, probably some drunk people enjoying themselves in the woods. She rolled her eyes and continue to stroll when she heard a noise again, but this time it sounded more like a hiss. Ava turned around, trying to see anything but it was too dark. Maybe some brainless jock saw her and tried to scare her.
Another crunching noise, this time right behind her, made her flinch once more, the hairs on her neck standing up. She felt her muscles tighten, when she turned around yet still no one was there. The girl looked a round several times, until she decided to head back to the house which she only saw in some distance thanks to the lights outside. Maybe she could just wait inside the car until Mark wanted to leave the party.
For a few seconds, it was silent again when she heard another noise, this time way closer to her, besides her.
Ava started to run, fear suddenly filling her body as her breath and heartbeat quickened, a feeling of danger flowing her body. The noises got louder, someone was definitely following her. She heard fast footsteps approaching her, whispers and hisses starting to echo inside her head, making her want to scream. She shook her head, trying to leave the voices behind but it was like they were just stuck, burying every other sound under it.
The blood pulsated in her head, breathing loudly. Sweat running down her forehead while her feet tried to run as fast as she could, yet she didn't seem to come any closer to the house.
A dark laugh suddenly appeared as she saw a black figure suddenly standing in front her, which made her stop in her steps, almost falling over.
She couldn't see a face, nor anything else which could possibly explain who it was. The figure took a stop closer to her, making her move backwards until her back met with once of the trees, the tree bark scratching her back uncomfortably.
The girl blinked once and the figure was gone, her blood still pulsating in her veins. She gulped, looking around before continuing to run in the direction she thought was the right one, while still turning her head every other second.
Suddenly she felt a breath on her neck, paired with a deep chuckle, making her stop in her tracks once more. She wanted to ask something, scream, anything but it felt like she suddenly had a lump in her throat. The voices inside her head growing louder and louder with each second passing by.
As soon as she wanted to start running again, a hand grabbed her wrist, forcing her to stand still. The grip was harsh and strong, not moving an inch even when she tried her best to wiggle her wrist free. She grunted and tried to take a look at the person behind her but she couldn't move at all.
“Oh no, you can't look at me. Not now, dear child.”, a voice said. It was more of a whisper than a real voice. The sound seemed hypnotic.
“There, there, hold still. Don't scream now.”, he said as she tried to wiggle herself free until her body stiffened. Suddenly, it was like all the noises she heard a second ago were gone. She didn't hear the whistles of the wind, the arches or their leaves. Nothing. It felt like the was in a vacuum, only the voice echoing in her head, telling her to hold still.
“You see, it's nothing personal.”, he continued and chuckled, sending shivers through her body.
“It's just, you got to understand that you're part of something bigger.”, she felt a hot breath on her neck again, making her want to scream but it felt like she lost her voice.
He heard him click his tongue, followed by a cold finger stroking over her neck.
“Such a  pity. So beautiful. I see what he's found in you, honestly. But, you know, sacrifices must be made. And such a pretty one.”, the voice continued.
Tears started to form in her eyes, rolling down her cheek, burning her skin. She didn't know what was going to happen but she felt afraid. More than that – she feared for her life. Something in his presence made her body fill with this primal fear.
“Oh, so pretty while crying, what a sight.”, a finger wiped one of her tears, chuckling mildly.
“You know, I like it when they scream. And now you need to scream, so he can hear you, you know?”, like a snap, Ava seemed to found her voice and screamed in a high-pitched voice.
Suddenly he let her go, making her stumble over her feet, her knees meeting the cold earth. She coughed while pulling herself up, commanding her body to start running again. When her feet started to move and her thoughts came back, the voices also did. They laughed at her in different tones, from every direction. It felt like a circle was around her, closing closer around her, laughing louder with every step she took.
Another desperate scream fell of her lips as she pressed her hands against her ears, trying to make the voices go but they got even louder, so loud she felt like becoming deaf. She couldn't even hear her own breath anymore, while tears ran down her face.
“It's so much fun to play, don't you think?”, she heard his voice echoing inside her head again, the screams suddenly disappearing.
“You know why? Because I always win.”, a chuckle echoed inside her head, turning into a loud laugh next to her ear.
“Maybe he'll find you, maybe he won't. I hope he does, otherwise it would spoil the fun.”, the voice added and she felt the grip on her wrist again.
“Ah, I'd really want to keep you for myself, such a shame.” he sighed, her body stiffen again, whilst she felt like choking, unable to bring out the slightest sound.
“It's nothing personal against you, my love. You just picked the wrong person to spend your time with, that's all.”
Her eyes widened in fear, her mouth suddenly hanging open without leaving a  sound when the world around her suddenly turned pitch black.

okay tired. today was all over the place. Up at 7:15 to catch the bus and head to the office. today was expected to be mass chaos based on all of the back and forth with the court about staying remote or going back to in person. today was supposed to be the day everything went back to in person, before the order was vacated (without telling anyone) and then another one entered late last week, so everyone was in a MOOD today, and I mean everybody. Of course we had our own chaos to deal with, since we just got permission to use our office space for clients starting today, and of course all of our summer interns had their last day on Friday, and we currently have 1 intern who had done basically nothing before, so that was a bit of an adventure. She's a law school grad though so she's pretty competent thankfully. so we were able to get an in person client done for the first time in 17 months, so that was a big celebration. At 2 I had to hop on Zoom for the hearing that I knew wasn't going to be a hearing, but didn't know what was gonna end up happening. the other side ended up not showing up, so we got a default order, which was definitely the best possible outcome, because the client was stressed and wanted it all to be done already. thankfully that didn't take too long, and we were able to file the in person case shortly before the 3 pm deadline (and by shortly I mean like, 2:56). so we then sat out in the lobby with the client waiting for her case to get called. I randomly got pulled aside for a few random things, one being that apparently the chief judge didn't tell anyone else he was giving us permission to have clients back in our space, so I had to explain he told my boss on Friday, and they were just like "well I wish he told me" like....you do realize I had zero control over this situation, right? lol. we eventually got called for the hearing, they only had one chair set up so I just kind of awkwardly hovered in the background without my face actually visible. the EOP got granted though and we're going to consider her case for rep, so I'm pleased with that outcome. While we were waiting for her paperwork, I ran up to the courtroom from my hearing to grab a copy of the order, since I said I'd come get it since I was in the courthouse. The judge was still doing remote hearings, so I chatted with the clerks and after a few minutes they were like "oh hey, you're Rachel! we see you in here all the time!" which made me laugh because the court managers never have their cameras on, so I never have any clue who I'm speaking to haha and the one clerk was just like to the other "It's Rachel (last name)!" and it was just such an amusing experience. the sheriff that really likes me (I'm not entirely sure why but I'm not complaining) that's usually assigned to that courtroom was there too, and was ridiculously nice to me and said a lot of sweet things, so that made me happy. when I returned to the first floor, one of the front desk people was like, loudly chewing out the chief judge in the middle of a client area, she had been super unhappy all day and at one point I thought she was legit going to cry, which just made me sad because she is a really nice lady, but seeing her chewing out the chief judge kinda made me laugh, I passed them and she just looked at me and was like "yeah keep walking" which amused me more. we were finally able to get the client a copy of her order and wrap things up shortly before 5, so good time. I headed out shortly after 5 and made pretty good time getting home. I made dinner, which we ate on the balcony, then we watched Luca, which was a ridiculously adorable movie, and if you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. from there roommate went to bed, and I stayed up a while longer playing my game mostly before showering and getting ready for bed. It's only like 12:22 am but I am dead tired for some reason, so I'm gonna go to bed now. Goodnight my friends. Hope your Monday didn't suck.

Sunshine boy ch.4
Summary: Lucas and Y/n have been best friends for a long time, so what will happen when there's trouble in paradise and a new person enters their lives.
Masterlist
Your week couldn't go by faster. You were eagerly awaiting Saturday when you could finally hang out with Jungwoo again. It was currently Thursday and Lucas had texted you if you two could meet up today. You agreed because you hated fighting with him and you wanted to make things right again.
You noticed Lucas waiting outside of your last class for the day. He was looking as handsome as ever even if he was only in a simple hoodie and jeans. The walk to the car was silent but once you got to the coffee shop Lucas picked out, you guys started talking more and you didn't want to ruin the atmosphere by mentioning that Jungwoo works here.
"Soo I noticed you've been hanging out with that guy a lot recently, something serious?"
"Uh, well I don't know I mean he is really cute and we text a lot. We're actually going on a date on Saturday." you said blushing slightly.
"Really? I don't know what you see in him he's not even that handsome. Compared to me of course." he said, not knowing that you were talking about two different guys. Ever since Lucas saw you with Jaehyun walking out of class together, laughing and giving each other compliments, he's assumed that Jaehyun was your new 'boyfriend'. Lucas also noticed that you've been sitting next to Jaehyun in classes. But what he doesn't understand, is that you and Jaehyun became friends and since he was the only one in your class who doesn't talk about the next party you should "absolutely go to" or about his latest hook up, he was the best choice to sit next to.
"Oh my god, are you jealous? That's adorable."
"Shut up" he said jokingly, but he wished you would talk like that about him, deep down he knew that it would never happen.
You sighed. "I missed you a lot. Like, I'm gonna get corny about it a lot."
He laughed, a sound you haven't heard in a while. "Fine by me honey."
Just a few meters away Jungwoo was watching the scene and feeling a little jealous, even though he knew that he had no right to feel like that. I mean you weren't his girlfriend. Not yet anyway. He smiled dreamily at the thought.
"Also, is that my hoodie?" Lucas' voice interrupted Jungwoos thoughts, and he glanced at your oversized hoodie.
"Uhh, maybe? I can give it back if you need it"
"Nah it's fine, you look better in it anyway" you smiled at him and giggled. A few minutes later you walked out of the cafe laughing together, which left a bitter taste in Jungwoos mouth.
Later that evening Jungwoo returned to the apartment his parents were renting for him while he studied to take over the family business once his parents aren't able to do that.
"Hey Jungwoo, how was work?" Jaehyun asked. He also lived in the apartment because both their families were close and they trusted their sons to live together and not cause any chaos in the remarkably large and expensive apartment.
"It was fine I guess. Is there anything to eat? I'm starving."
"First of all, yes there's takeout in the fridge and second of all, what's wrong? You seem down."
"Lucas and Y/n were in the cafe today," he said, grabbing the food from the fridge. "they were laughing and she was wearing his sweater and i-" he sighed " I know its wrong for me to feel jealous, they're just friends and she's not even my girlfriend."
"Dude there's nothing wrong with feeling jealous. You just need to know that she really likes you. And she told me that she'd never date a guy like
Lucas."
"Really?"
"Yeah. And you have the opportunity to plan the perfect date for Saturday. So, what did you have in mind?"
"Well, I thought about going to dinner and then to go see a movie?"
"You fool. It should be special, not just dInNeR aNd a mOvIe, what are you? A basic bitch? No, you should take her to dance class or something. She used to dance when she was younger."
"How do you even know tha-" Jaehyun shushed him "Don't question my methods. Then you're gonna take her to dinner and afterwards, you'll go stargazing. I already checked the weather, it's supposed to be perfect for stargazing"
"You really planned this out didn't you?"
"Obviously. My best friend is going on a date! How often does that happen?" he added with a laugh "but seriously, you both like each other, and I'm not gonna let you mess it up because you're shit at planning dates."
"Thanks, Jaehyun. I appreciate it."
"No problem" he smiled "but just so you know, the guys and I are gonna spy on you two." he quickly said and rushed into his room, giggling like a schoolgirl.
"juNG JAEHYUN GET BACK HERE!"
The next day Jungwoo was getting ready for his shift at the cafe when suddenly his phone rang. He saw his mums face pop up on the screen and he contemplated whether he should pick up or not.
"Hello mum"
"Hello Jungwoo, how's the apartment? Isn't it great? Jaehyuns father found it."
"The apartment is very nice. Thank you."
"Well, that is fantastic. I wanted to invite you to dinner this Sunday. Jaehyun can come too of course. Unless you have someone else to bring,,?" Jungwoo has heard this question ever since he was a teenager. He was never the one for dating. He's never even had a real girlfriend before. But he's had enough of his parents pestering him about a girlfriend.
"Actually, yes I do want to bring someone."
"Another friend of yours? You know I've always liked Johnny." Yeah. For his parents' money.
"No mum I want to bring my girlfriend."
"Oh? Well wow, I'm excited to meet her." The shock in his mother's voice was evident.
"She's looking forward to it as well. Now goodbye mother I have,, classes to attend. I'll see you on Sunday."
"Very well, I'll see you and your girlfriend then."
This is bad. Really bad. Why did he tell her he had a girlfriend? He didn't have any female friends to pretend to be his girlfriend. I mean except for Y/n.
"What's got you so worked up?" Jaehyun asked.
"Well, my mother just invited us to dinner on Sunday."
"Oh, that's not so bad is it."
"Yep. But I kinda uh I kinda told her I had a girlfriend.."
"whY"
"I don't knOW"
"Well good luck finding one in two days"
"I mean unless I ask Y/n..."
"Dude do you know how weird that is? 'Hi yeah I know we just had our first date but come meet my paRENTS'".
"Oh cmon I can try."
"Sure. But Ten still has his Halloween wig, so if Y/n says n- bitch oW" Jaehyun shouted as he was hit with a pillow.
"It'll work. You'll see."
"Yeah sure. Now go or you'll be late for your shift."
"Shit you're right. See you later!" he said running out the door.

Pick five random questions (and also do the post apoc question as a sixth ;3) for Ticole, NiNick, Skyuuya, Matt/Luca, and whatever tf your otp for dark materials is?? i haven't been keeping up with your trash so idk what to ask for that one but also indulge yourself in your current trash plz
Yu I’ve been sitting here just like “I’m so sorry you asked” about that HDM pairing for the past ten minutes.
Partially because of the self indulgence and mostly just because they’re a train wreck.
I’m just gonna go in order for once because like...does anybody following me even care about this series? Or is this going to be me being self indulgent like I normally am with my oc ships. XD
Ticole:
2. Who is the most insecure and what makes them feel better?
Absolutely Tip. He lacks self confidence to such a strong degree. One the flip side, Nicole is great at being there to comfort him, either by reminding him that everything’s okay and that  he’s loved or by providing whatever it is he needs and wrapping him in a blanket burrito.
9. What is the most embarrassing thing they have done in front of each other?
I refuse to take criticism that for Tip this isn’t the time that they were in Dragonspyre after reuniting and Tip started meowing at Nicole because he was very tired and she was just like “That’s cool you’re alive” because she was so relieved to have an alive Tip.
For Nicole, it probably would have something to do with her falling asleep in the middle of doing something. I have a lot of thoughts on the idea of her spending a lot of super late nights reading once he falls asleep and she just ends up falling asleep in the middle of it because she’s not paying attention to the time. It’s hard in general for Nicole to get embarrassed in front of Tip because he’s just so naive about everything.
15. When they watch a film what do they choose and why? Who gets the final vote?
Mostly animated things. I see them watching a lot more wholesome movies and given Nicole’s origins, she’s very obviously a Disney fan. She also gets the final vote since what they’re watching isn’t important to Tip.
16. When the zombie apocalypse comes, how do they cope together?
Mmm this is an interesting question. On one hand, they’re badass and together nearly unstoppable even in the pre-revival stuff (which is what I’m going to focus on in general because that’s a more fun Ticole anyways) so the chance of anything taking one of them down once they make it to shelter? Unlikely. They probably serve as pillars of emotional stability and comfort for each other as they keep themselves safe from zombies.
But this comes with a stipulation. They’re untouchable so long as everything they love is safe.
It’d be unlikely for anything to happen to Ian or Charles but if it did, it’s pretty likely that Tip at least would fall apart.  So this could end up bad.
21. Where do they get nervous about going with one another?
Not counting worlds where they almost died??? I don’t think they would. Like literally the only place I could think of would be the bedroom because sex between the two of them? Super daunting there’s a reason I skipped the sex question every time RNG pulled it up.
27. Why do their friends get annoyed with them?
Oh dear god 95% of the annoyance with them I guarantee is directed at Nicole. Nicole is overprotective as shit over Tip and it gets to be ridiculous. The first couple of times she’s angry over somebody hurting Tip it’s scary but afterwards. “Nicole. Nicole plz. I know you’re upset but Nicole listen please shut up Tip’s fine. Nicole.”
I’m honestly surprised Ian hasn’t done anything yet tbh about this.
NiNick:
1. Who makes the first move and how?
I’m like...95% certain the person to take the leap was Nina? I don’t remember it’s been ages since I read the scene.
7. What do they get up to on a night out?
They take nights out? *shot*
No in all seriousness, these two when they do go out for the night probably have super romantic times. Nick’s supposed to be a romantic, so I could see him setting up candlelit dinners, figuring out the best showtime to watch the movie Nina’s really wanted to see, really doing the most to make their night out all the more special.
8. What do they like in bed?
Oh my god.
Nina’s not vanilla so her kinks go as far as Nick’s will that is all I will say on the subject.
16. When the zombie apocalypse comes, how do they cope together?
They try to keep moving on. I feel like they both alternate who’s functional on different days. Some days it’s both, and when it is they’re valuable resources to wherever they are. When one isn’t, I’d imagine the other just holds them while they try to cope with the fear and loss. There probably is some sex involved in all of this, because they can use it to help them forget that the world is ending and who knows when their next time could be their last.
Thankfully at least, they’re also social creatures. I’d imagine the two of them would stay in groups for as long as possible.
20. Where do they go on holiday?
Nina? Absolutely big amusement park nerd. I don’t think it matters where Nick wants to go she absolutely plans all her vacations around the fact that they might be able to stop by some kind of amusement park.
26. Why do they need to have a serious chat?
Somebody please stage an intervention for their sex habits. Please.
Skyuuya
4. Who can’t keep their hands to themselves?
Emphasis first of all in that these touches are always not sexual, but I can see Yuuya just always reaching for her as like small little gestures. Grabbing her hand if he notices she’s starting to panic. Giving her a hug when she seems just a little down. Just all sorts of reassuring small touches that absolutely mean a lot.
7. What do they get up to on a night out?
When they find the time to have a night out uninterrupted, I’d imagine it’s whatever dates Yuuya manages to come up with near where they’re based. This could be anything from beach trips to theme parks to nice dinners. It’s not really a specific thing they plan on a night out so much as just enjoying each other’s company for them.
But that being said I also see them sometimes just enjoying the peaceful nights by relaxing together for once and trading stories and talking. Like of course Yuuya wants to go all out on these dates but it’s despair world. He literally can’t because you always gotta be on guard so they make the most of it however possible.
14. When one has a cold, what does the other do?
Yuuya would be the most doting fuck if Sky got sick. She keeps telling him to stop. He’s gonna get sick. He really needs to stop. Except he absolutely doesn’t and brings her tissues and soup and wraps her in ten thousand blankets and “YUUYA IT’S A COLD I’M NOT DYING I DON’T NEED THIS MANY BLANKETS” except he’s not doing it because he thinks she’s going to die, he’s doing it because she’s Sky and absolutely deserves the best care she could ever get.
Then once he gets sick afterwards she throws a box of tissues at his head. granted she’s also making sure Yuuya has everything he needs for a full recovery from the cold but that’s less relevant.
16. When the zombie apocalypse comes, how do they cope together?
They start preparing to kill zombies. They’re the couple who just shows up on a motor cycle with their back towards each other and start shooting. They’re the zombie apocalypse dream team. They’re certified badasses. They’ll be fine.
22. Where does their first kiss happen?
First kiss after the prison (and not the peck Sky did to fluster Yuuya after getting together) is probably a little bit after the game??? Like they’re both together and spending time anchoring each other but like so much stuff went down and it’s just a lot to unload? And it’s not so much the where that matters but the when. Because I really would like to imagine like they’ve spent so much time worried and searching for their little siblings who mean the absolute world to them they have kinda put their relationship on the backburner in terms of being overly affectionate. And then they just finally find Sera and Sakuya and Hiyoko and they’re sitting there talking later that night and overwhelmed by emotions over the whole thing and idk who starts it but it’s like a “I’m really so glad we finally succeeded we found them” kiss.
Pre-PoD though? That’s a lot less happy. So I know we discussed that like...some really bad shit goes down and they start off not really getting along and gradually growing to care about each other because of an event that really forces them to understand the other? Well all I can imagine is whatever the terrible thing that happens is that really makes them get along? It happens. And of course even though they’re supposed to not like each other, but the other one of them is still listening to the other and supporting them because that hatred has been gone for a really long time and just like the one who’s hurt realizing that the other one has been there the whole time and they just realize “fuck I really like them” and somewhere in all this the kiss happens. So I guess in their room in the future foundation would be the answer to this.
26. Why do they need to have a serious chat?
Why don’t they? *shot*
Well, for one, there’s definitely some things they need to work out. Yuuya is still a spy. Sky still has her duties as a Keyblade Wielder. Both have ties to literally different worlds and different duties and they need to figure out how to make that work, and how to work on being in a relationship despite the possibility of not seeing each other for months.
There’s also one very specific scenario we discussed, the one that cemented Leone’s hate for his dad because he thought that Yuuya ditched them or died? They definitely have serious talks over that. I mean, Yuuya’s probably around his thirties by that point. He’s not young anymore and death is a very real threat for him, just like it is for Sky. They both probably have to address that. Which speaking of Leone, they also probably have a lot to talk about given he’s their son and has awful darkness issues.
Luca/Matt
3. Who is the most romantic?
I could write an essay on this but we both know it’s gonna be Luca.
15. When they watch a film what do they choose and why? Who gets the final vote?
The movies vary, but given Luca’s taste? It’s either absolutely shit or a horror movie, there’s no real way around it. And Luca tries to give Matt the final vote because he knows he struggles with keeping attention so he wants to give Matt like...the best chance of being able to keep himself focused and comfortable during the movie, but he ends up with the final vote anyways.
16. When the zombie apocalypse comes, how do they cope together?
So long as Matt and Lila are fine? Luca’s doing awesome the entire time. He serves primarily as the moral support, and encourages his best friend and boyfriend to survive.
Now why did I mention Lila? Because if something happened to either of them, that’s it. Luca’s shutting down completely. This boy is so reliant on them that he literally would be just done for in a zombie apocalypse.
18. When they fight, how do they make up?
Whichever one is at fault will like apologize. If Luca’s at fault, he’ll do it after he’s calmed down but if Matt’s the one at fault he’s probably immediately apologizing. Then once they’re both chill I see them talking about it and the make up is probably in the unsaid “we’re working on our issues together.”
That being said this is Luca so true confrontations are probably pretty rare.
22. Where does their first kiss happen?
Luca’s apartment, after Luca nearly fucks up Matt still kisses him anyways. Luca questions if his boyfriend has taste or sanity immediately afterwards.
30. Why does it work (or not work) between them?
This is a twofold question.
It does not work between them the first time because Matt is a cultist who literally betrays Luca’s trust because he’s in fact working against him. This in turn is the last crack on Luca’s faliling mental health and he shatters and they very obviously have a lot to work on.
But once they get back together, because they do have the ability to work through it all? They work because they know better. Luca is all in and he loves Matt, and he brings out the best in Matt I’d like to think. They put forth the effort to be better and make it work because they both love each other, and so it works.
HDM Ship (Ma/sriel)
4. Who can’t keep their hands to themselves?
Asriel. I could elaborate but the scene at the end of S1 really does speak for itself on this one. Of course Marisa doesn’t do the greatest job of this either or else the series wouldn’t exist.
5. Who says ‘I love you’ first?
I really had to think on this one but Marisa. She’s the younger of the two and despite her excellent facade in the series I do think her emotions would be a bit more free than Asriel’s, who’s shown to be emotionally in control for like the entire series. In spite of this it’s still an incredibly rare thing. We’re talking every once in a while, not frequent.
14. When one has a cold, what does the other do?
First of all they tease the other mercilessly. Neither Asriel nor Marisa are particularly doting (not until near the end of their life anyways) so they’re not the type to drop everything to take care of the other, especially since their relationship is secret in the first place. That being said they do make sure to check to make sure the other is alright when sick. Marisa probably brings some medicine and Asriel who funny enough I see as slightly more doting in this instance does his best to bring her things after she’s recovered (since she ya know, has to deal with the whole actually having a husband thing this is an affair why is this the ship hell I sunk into.)
16. When the zombie apocalypse comes, how do they cope together?
God they’re probably studying the zombies to figure out how they came about because they’re like scientists. I hate this. XD
18. When they fight, how do they make up?
They don’t. I ship this but it’s highly dysfunctional. Marisa and Asriel are both stubborn and pigheaded and a part of me would honestly believe for them that fighting is a part of foreplay. Occasionally one might apologize for a fight but it’s not like either of them will really budge on either of their positions (well okay that’s a lie. At the end of TAS Marisa has decided god has to go too but that took three books to get there, and it’s still not so much because she hates religion so much as if he doesn’t die her daughter will and she would do anything for Lyra.)
But on the flipside, they also forgive each other? Like it’s like...they’ll fight, neither will apologize, but both sides will accept it. Because even when their relationship is absolutely at their worst and they hate each other for twelve years, they still care. Asriel is one of the only two things to get an emotional reaction out of Marisa. Marisa is one of the only two things to get an emotional reaction out of Asriel.
It’s really hard to explain, it’s less like they’d ever make up and more like they would just move on from the argument. They only have so much time to waste on it.
21. Where do they get nervous about going with one another?
Um literally everywhere. These two are literally having an affair behind Marisa’s husbands back they aren’t going to go broadcasting it. That being said it’s mostly travels around London that get bad. The farther away they get from Marisa’s home the more likely they are to throw caution to the wind. And of course when they’re doing research they also tend to be a lot less nervous because there’s nothing wrong about it that could cause them trouble (on the surface).
