Cursed Targaryen Names

Hello everyone! I think by this point we've all heard the theory that the name Visenya is cursed in ASoIaF, and I recently received this ask here that drew my attention to the fact that the name Aegon doesn't have the greatest track record, either. One realization later, and I arrived at my new theory: All three names from the Conquering trio have been cursed. Maybe by Visenya (I hope by Visenya). So let's go through what happens to all the poor kids that get saddled with these names, shall we?

Visenya

Visenya, who Rhaenyra wanted as a sister when Aemma was pregnant, but who was actually a boy named Baelon. Still, at one point Rhaenyra had declared the baby's name would be Visenya. As we all know, the baby died, and took its mother with it.

Visenya, the stillborn daughter of Rhaenyra. Born with birth defects, with scales on her skin, and with a tail.

Aegon

Aegon the Uncrowned, who was usurped by his uncle Maegor despite being the trueborn and eldest son of the late king, and who was later killed by Maegor at just seventeen.

Aegon, son of Jaehaerys and Alysanne, who died three days after he was born

Aegon, son of Baelon and Alyssa, whose birth killed his mother and who died days before his first birthday, also managing to ruin Viserys and Daemon's childhood

Aegon II, who watched all of his siblings and most of his children die before him in a war they were forced into, who spent his final years disfigured and in agony, and who died in his twenties

Aegon III, who traumatically lost his dragon and thought he'd abandoned his brother to die, whose older half-brothers all died, who watched his mother be eaten alive as a child, and who spent the rest of his life depressed as a result

Aegon IV, who was probably actually insane

Aegon V, who killed not only himself but also his own children and heir in his desperation to uncover the magic of the dragons in the Tragedy at Summerhall

And finally, poor baby Aegon, whose head was bashed in against a wall in front of his mother, Elia

Rhaenys

Rhaenys, daughter of Aemon and Jocelyn, who outlived her two beloved children and was burned alive after being sent on a suicide mission by the same woman she thought killed her son

Rhaenys, the three-year-old daughter of Elia and Rhaegar, who was ripped from beneath her bed and stabbed to death so viciously that Tywin Lannister had to cover her body with a cloak before presenting her to the King.

Also, as a note, there's one instance of one of these three names popping up pre-Conquest: Aegon Targaryen, son of Gaemon and Daenys, who happily married his sister, ruled Dragonstone, and passed it down to his son with no problems. Whose children all survived to adulthood, whose wife did not die in childbirth, and who is not noted to have a particularly gruesome death. This just adds to my theory that this name was not cursed pre-Conquest hehe.

If you're asking why DGY shouted his line, it's bcs BZM and WHL were too busy bickering to beckon him to the couch like they're supposed to do. Also, they sing 'Dive Back in Time' together.

85. 29/03/2024, Wang Yifei, please stop bullying Wu Hanglu, don't squish her, look at her, she's tiny. See? Now she's bullying you back.

86. 05/04/2024 night, piglet is back!! Wu Yihan, Cai Qi. WHY ARE YOU BOTH SO MEAN TO THE PIGLET?? WYH does not let CQ play around with RPS (by not doing them at all)

LOL... hrmmmm perhaps scout takes to absentmindedly drawing his comics on the contracts he gets from miss pauling and forgets as he turns them in for her. various cartoons of spy getting mutilated wasnt something she was expecting as she reads through the dossier and she just bursts into fits of laughter, attempting to muffle herself with a hand clasped over her mouth. scout is over the moon just hearing her laugh(especially because of a joke he made, or drew would be the right way of expressing), but is still incredibly embarrassed. she lets him know that it made her day and he feels a bit better. she asks him to keep leaving doodles on his contracts and hes ON IT. later, the mercs and the admin begin to notice a pep in her step that wasnt present before.

as for scout drawing something to impress her.... perhaps he takes up painting to draw her for her birthday. i would initially think maybe he would want to draw a cartoon like he usually would but maybe hes insecure that something like that isnt classy or smart enough for a girl like her. in any case he pilfers spys collection of oil paints and gets to work. :3 he wraps the canvas up and gives it to her and shes very happy. i think hed also pick up one of those lunchbox cakes for her >:)))))

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Creed actually resembles Sephiria more than he does Train. (P1)

Okay, since I haven't seen anyone talked about this yet I guess I'll do it. As the title says, the more times I re-read, the more similarities between them just come to light. The two would probably do away with me if they ever got the chance to read this considering how much they repel each other but there's nothing to worry about hehe. I'm the only real one.

First, let's go over some visible resemblances:

Both are sword users: Obviously and their swords have this elegant side to them as well. Christ is regal yet carries enough grace to match with Sephiria's aura. Creed, despite his viciousness and flashiness, selects a quite unimpressive sword with long and thin blade, but it sure expresses a deadly sharpness and appears cold to the eyes. The two designs speak to the wielders' characters really well.

Have special interest in Train: Well, Creed is obsessed (gay) with the guy and Sephiria picked Train to be Number XIII herself. There are usually just 12 Guardians, symbolising each number on the clock, but she had managed to convince the Elders to make an exception for Train. In the manga, Xiao Li also claimed when he and Train first met that Sephiria and Berzé cared about him especially.

My right-hand is the opposite gender: Echidna and Berzé. Echidna clearly has some affection for the swordsman and Number II was exposed to be deeply concerned over Sephiria's well-being by Mason in the manga.

We can look harmless, real harmless: Rinslet is a living witness to this. Creed's manner and appearance when they first met had fooled her completely and she just laughed her ass off when she saw Sephiria, thinking it was one of Jenos's pranks because as she said, "...this woman doesn't look like she can stand a gust of wind, let alone commanding an elite force." Rinse also hates them very much lol.

Their birthdays are also holidays: Creed's is Christmas (25/12) and Sephiria's is New Year's Eve (1/1). They are both Capricorn.

We lead a gang of dangerous assassins: Yep, just what it says.

We want bad luck on our side: Black Cat means bad luck but Sephiria is definitely not superstitious and Creed suffers from "Senpai, notice me" symptom too badly to care.

Ain't afraid to cry: Despite being built to have a heartless side, both were shown to cry on occasions. Sephiria mourning Belga is one of the most beautiful and meaningful moments in the manga and it genuinely hurts Creed for having to kill Train, not because of the fan-figured romantic attraction but because he really sees Train as a comrade, an equal and someone who can empathize with his pain.

Manipulators are fine-looking: Just like Sephiria, Creed is no less of a manipulator. He can do smooth talking, shift attitudes from hostile to welcoming to persuade people who he acknowledges as useful or potential joining the Apostle. He knew the goals of whom he wishes to recruit (Shiki, Maro, Charden) and presented his goals in ways that would match theirs so that they would be willing to cooperate. Sephiria also did this to Train. She took adavantage of Train's intention on revenge as a bonus beside the money if Train helped her take down Creed. She also exploited his heated hatred in order to have him eliminate Creed for Cerberus (a failed attempt). Last but not least, let's admit it, they both looking fine as hell, easily among the best as the manga drew near the end.

Rough childhood: Both had experienced unhappy one. Despite visibly not enjoying killing, Sephiria was forced to be trained and raised as a killer for Chronos while Creed was abused by his own mother and endured all kinds of terrible things during his time on the streets. This is only my headcanon but I think Creed would try (had tried) to bring Sephiria to his side if it weren't for her imgrained loyalty to Chronos. In the manga, when Creed came round after his blade got shattered, he said to Train in anger, still obstinate with his idea "I thought you are different from Sephiria and the others." Why seperating Sephiria from the others? Why not adressing her and them as a whole? Possibly because Creed knew she also had a rough past, maybe even mal-treated one (you can never tell with Chronos). He would have convinced her to be his ally had he not been certain she was far too brainwashed.

Today is my boyfriend’s birthday and since we’re in long distance relationship I keep drawing illustrations of us together as my gifts for him. What’s a perfect coincidence that today’s theme of Mermay is also Companion, cause Mono is my best companion ever wherever I go 💙

This time I was so inspired by our trip to Southeast Asia, that I took Cambodian and Thai story of Suvannamaccha mermaid and Hanuman*, the monkey god, as the main idea of the illustration. Mono loves their story and when I drew my first Kurtka mermaid this May, he joked that I should draw him as this monkey then. Little did he knew I was all ears for the gift ideas back then! 😂

That’s why I drew us “cosplaying” the folklore characters he loves, that were so new for me and exciting to study all the story and references for the first time. So yeah, this artwork is the continuation of my childhood tradition to gift mermaid drawings to my loved ones, but at the same time it starts a new tradition too I guess. The tradition to draw us in cosplays for Mono’s birthday gift 😂

As though the soft sunbeams of spring had shone on them, the icy glaciers melted away, becoming an inviting, clear lagoon. She didn't notice he had pulled her closer to himself. Now he drew a breath that tickled her ear and whispered—”

“This isn't a good story.”

“What?” You gasped, putting the book down. “Why do you say that?”

Chevalier was sitting across from you at the coffee table. In one hand he held a cup of tea and his back leant leisurely against the rest behind him. He'd been listening to you tell the story to this point, making you think perhaps it was to his liking.

“Although some of the plot elements aren't too bad, the romance is predictable. For a story with such a basic plotline to work for a modern reader, the characters shouldn't be as two-dimensional.”

“Come on, it's a classic,” you argued and remembered to lower your voice. There were others in the café after all. “Simplicity is what makes stories like these live on even centuries after they're written. They can always be interpreted in a new way.”

“The only thing that can be interpreted from that novel is how self-sacrifice gets you nowhere.”

You sighed in defeat and dramatically let your fall head onto the table. “Oh, Chev. So unromantic.”

You had been trying to find a romance novel your boyfriend would enjoy for the past three weeks now. Every weekend you’d meet at this book café and even read him some of your favourite parts aloud. Yet nothing seemed to appeal to him—you knew, you had tried. For someone majoring in politics he sure had enough time to read romance books and be picky about them.

You turned your head towards the window and from the crook of your arm saw the rain was still pattering down outside. It had been like that ever since you'd arrived. Had it been two hours now? The empty glasses of tea and juice confirmed it. Both Chevalier and yourself got so distracted by the books here that it always took you a while to finish your orders. Perhaps it was time to call it a day.

The sound of a thin page turning caught your attention. Chevalier had picked up another book and was reading it methodically. A focused gaze moved from one line to another. With his impeccable memory he was likely memorising each word. Soon his slender fingers flipped another page. He caught onto you before you did.

“You're staring like a dimwit again,” he said without looking up.

You grinned. “Hehe. But you love me.”

Chevalier didn't reply. You couldn't see his whole face since the book he held was covering most of it but you knew he smiled briefly at your reply—for his eyes crinkled just a little and a light flickered in them. You loved that light.

“I noticed you're like him,” you continued in a musing. “Like the prince in the story. You have the same eyes.”

“Is that a new tactic to make me interested?”

You raised your head from your arms. “No, I mean it. They're the same icy blue, they carry intelligence and pride but also kindness.”

“And behind that piercing gaze lies a very, truly, incredibly. . .” you trailed off, slowly reaching out for his free hand. His attention was on you now. “. . . mean guy who likes giving his girlfriend a hard time when she tries doing something nice for him.”

Chevalier scoffed but seemed nevertheless amused by your taunt. He lowered the book. “You're mistaken,” he said and clasped the hand that was resting on top of his. The grip was firm, intimate, so secure. “I am much worse.”

A part you wanted to keep your gaze on him, to admire that beautiful face, but you knew that was exactly what he was trying to do to you. He'd trapped you like that so many times before. So you leant back dramatically, breaking his clever spell. “Oh no, Chev! Don't tell me you're choosing the path of a villain?”

With the vicious smile wore you could tell he was confident in that role. “It doesn't matter whether I'd be a prince or a villain, I would still do better job at being a ruler than that protagonist.”

“Hm, you would make a rather fine king.”

Chevalier smirked. “That's obvious enough.”

In your mind, you imagined a lavish palace, eccentric princes and a small but prospering kingdom. Ruling them all would be Chevalier with both intelligence and power. But there would also be love, an undying will to keep his people happy.

“You'd strike fear and respect into your enemies and allies alike,” you decided. “Oh, and then I could be your princess!”

“Simpleton,” Chevalier said. “That would make you my queen.”

You paused, feeling the heat reach your cheeks. “Oh.”

“Queen Inky.”

“Hey!” You huffed. He was using the nickname he had given you after your first meeting, before he even knew your name. You’d been writing a paper in the library when you fell asleep at the desk and smudged your face with ink. Most of your left cheek and temple were covered in the irritating black stuff. Let's go.” Without even pausing to consider your demand and by completely changing the topic, Chevalier stood up and began to gather his things. “We can keep talking about this at our next session. With a bashful, but happy smile on his face, Shuichi holds out a dessert box to Maki, wrapped with a red ribbon. If she opens it, she will find a big chocolate cake slice, topped with dollops of whipped cream, and raspberries sitting on each whipped cream dollop. It even had a tiny chocolate piece in the center, that says 'Happy Birthday!' on it. And not only that, but he also paired a small teddy bear and a red Sakura flower keychain with the dessert box, too.

"I remember you liking chocolate flavors, yeah? So I thought I'd make you a chocolate cake... ! I hope you'll love it once you try it! As for the keychains, I thought they were very cute, so I wanted to buy it for you, eheh." (Happy Birthday, Maki~!!! 🍰🌸🐻!!!)

Maki Harukawa's birthday wasn't Maki Harukawa's birthday. It wasn't the day she became an assassin, and it wasn't the day she left what pale imitation of a family she'd had behind. It wasn't, to the best of her knowledge, even the day she'd been dropped off at the orphanage. As far as Maki knew, it was a day picked randomly, something to be written down on government documents, but not anything to be acknowledge or celebrated. Yet, in the front of the classroom, there it was - [This Month's Birthdays] written in bold chalk, with only her name underneath it. An open invitation for anyone and everyone to look at her and offer a smile or a wave or an unwanted gift.

"Saihara." It was a regular day, not any better or worse than any other. Still, Shuichi was holding out the box with an expression that, to Maki's understanding, meant it would be complicated if she refused. "Sure. Okay." She took the box, pulling apart the ribbon and opening it up to look inside. A chocolate cake, with fresh fruit. There was a richness to the scent alone that Maki knew might not agree with her stomach, so used to leftovers and cheap, prepackaged meals as it was, but it was also true that she wasn't the kind of person to turn down chocolate when it made itself available to her. For her own palate, and for the fact that the orphan kids would never forgive anyone who turned down a free dessert.

Shuichi's words, as Maki wordlessly looked over the dessert, quickly drew her attention back to him. "You made this?" That was surprising. The image she had of Shuichi in her head was the sort of person to make a mistake in the kitchen, then panic and make it worse, until someone like Kaede or Kaito came to fix it for him. Maybe that wasn't the kindest way to think about him. "Huh. It looks really good," she admitted, closing and sealing the box once more. She'd have to find somewhere to eat it, since taking it back home wasn't an option. Even the orphanage would probably just invite more questions than she was willing to answer.

The keychains, too, were carefully inspected, discerning eyes looking over them. Keychains jingled when clapped against each other, making them pretty inadvisable when one didn't want to be noticed. Besides, it wasn't like she had keys or a collection of phone charms that they'd easily slot in with. "You're too nice to other people, Saihara," she murmured, digging the small pencil pouch that held some of her school things out from her bag, and clipping the keychains onto the zipper. "You should be more careful that the people you're spending time and attention on are worth it, and that they appreciate it. You'll get taken advantage of, if you aren't." Kaede's birthday was next month. She'd probably have a much bigger reaction to something like this, with a lot of obvious gratitude. But Maki was Maki, and her birthday wasn't her birthday, and so this was as much as she could manage. "But thanks, anyway. The cake does look really good."

hi, what’s up? we both have happy rs im so glaaaad. still can’t get you out of my mind.

ilang beses ko na ba subukan mag reach out, tapos hindi natutuloy. im a coward yes. im always scared about why did i suddenly stopped talking to you. that you’re mad (ofc tangina bobo ka ba) na pano ko ba uumpisahan.

it started nung hindi natuloy yung sleep over it was all planned super excited namin but suddenly hindi natuloy due to some reason and afterwards hindi na nawala sa isip ko. like ik na disappoint fam niya even her friends, also hindi ko na alam anong mukhang ihaharap ko.

nasa baguio kami noon, then suddenly bigla akong nag breakdown; if i continue talking with her gusto pa rin ba nila ako ma-meet? galit ba sila? is she mad? and etc. her friends and relatives helps me with my issues and problems tapos just a simple meet up na messed up pa. i really hate disappointment, doon lahat nag start isama pa yung nga threats na guguluhin sila if i don’t stop.

well right after i stopped talking with her, there’s a complete silence. there’s no chaos, walang kahit ano. im just existing. but it’s sad, im sad. i missed them esp the memories; us playing roblox like whole fucking day; movie marathon weird pati detective conan hindi pinalagpas; watch her do online class; talk shit about our exes; mga latest chika maritess duo kasi kami; and lastly her choice of music.

super dami niyang inintroduce na music so potangina kada marinig ko siya lang naiisip ko mhie. also even tho our rs is not that perfect kasi may mga epaloids at the end of the day im happy. or baka ako lang. after some time she’s my totga. i’d rather be sad than keep her with this complicated rs she doesn’t deserve any of this.

after ko mag social media break bcs i stopped for awhile ik myself hindi ko mapipigilan na kausapin siya if hindi ko gagawin yon eh.

ayun nga i started distracting myself mhie and super superrr hindi tama tong ginawa ko. tried to date bois but uhm didn’t work out kasi idk can’t feel any connections towards them.

well good thing lang is nag stop na rin yung epal ferson when she found out im dating guys na. sana diba noon ko pa ginawa para tumigil na siya completely potangina.

and now i met rifle, nakikita ko lang si amber sakanya. all of his past experiences esp sa fam super parehas sila. hobbies din he loves playing online games grind na grind si accla just same as amber. he loves movies and animes din. boy ver lang ni amber. then found out na he’s not like her. super layo.

same with the traumas like her pero ibang way to handle it. he tend to sometimes can’t control himself lalo pag galit but i just listened eventually learned a lot from him. he’s independent and loves to explore. sometimes his perspective is kinda (kinda want to strangle him jk) but i realized diff person diff pov and i started to be open. at first we tend to argue syempre patola si accla lalo pag iba yung pinaglalaban but when i tried to listen his side my point din pala kahit nakakainis minsan. utak niya eon eh anong gagawin q sis.

afterwards i learned how to love him bcs it’s him not because i saw amber in his personality. he once said “siguro pag nagkita kayo magtatagal kayo nun.” and i silently agreed. it’s reallt diff when it comes to her. i replied “tbh if mag hiwalay tayo, kaya kitang iremove kahit saan but not her. pero if she decided to block me i’ll respect it.”

hi, sana okay ka lang lagi. sana healthy kayo lalo na si baby zia she so cuteeee. hindi kayo nawawala sa prayers ko. mahal ko kayo palagi. namimiss ko na si bebe drew. kung galit man kayo or sila magalit lang kayooo issokay. deserve ko hehe. belated happy birthday pala. malapit ka na gumraduate sheesh.

Birthday: 29th December Zodiac Sign: Capricorn Birthstone: Blue Topaz Symbolic flower: Cherry Blossoms (Also her Birth(day) flower is Winter Cherry but I didn't know this at the time I drew this) Little bio: The name of this fluffy angel is Masami what means elegant beauty and I think it fits her very much. (Well if I wouldn't think it, I wouldn't choose this name anyway xD) Yes, she is a kitsune. There aren't many of them in the present of the story but Masami and her brother do everything to make other people's life better. Masami and her brother are almost the last ones of their race.

Masami is a 6 tailed kitsune, who prefers healing magic over those that hurts the others, but she always do what she have to do if she really has no choice. She is the angriest about what happened to their family, and she never act like this wouldn't be true. She refuses to act like a hypocrite but at the same time she never let her anger take over.

On your actual birthday, he spent the morning in bed with you, talking about how much he loved you and shamelessly flirting with you before making breakfast.

You listened to storytellers, bought various items like fireworks and sparklers and ate good food, just enjoying each other's company until the evening arrived.

Beidou just dragged you away, making sure you closed your eyes the whole time until you reached your destination.

When you opened your eyes, you couldn't believe it - you were on the Cruz Fleet, surrounded by her crew and all your loved ones.

As soon as you stepped on, the ship leisurely sailed off into the night like some fairytale and you got to enjoy a moonlit sail, as cheesy as it sounds.

It was slow and you allowed yourself to savour the way the ships's lanterns reflects and glittered on the water a long with the moon.

You were surrounded by everyone you cared about and everyone who cared about you (but some of the crew drank a little too much in celebration of your birth hehe)

Beidou just wants you to know how much she and everyone else loves you and wants you to know that she is glad you exist <3
