JI CHANGMIN HAD ALWAYS THOUGHT OF BIRTHDAYS as insignificant, trivial matters. Perhaps that was because that was how he was raised to think of them as; hardly anyone in Hell cared for such a frankly human celebration of life. Even when he ended up on the mortal plane, he never seemed to fully grasp the concept.

There were always, within the couple years he knew your sister, days she would refuse to take on a client or work if it was your birthday. It could be the end of the world, and she would turn an adventure down to be at your side to celebrate your birthday. Despite being gone from home so often, she never failed to remember.

Maybe that was part of the reason he was freaking out now.

“What's all this?” He asked to the room as he munched on a blueberry pancake from the kitchen. When he walked into the pack house for breakfast this morning, he'd been greeted by the sight of Kevin and Jacob working together to string a Happy Birthday banner in the foyer. Balloons and streamers dangled and dazzled about the stair banister and around the walls. Lily had even recruited the little ones to help make about a thousand and one cupcakes.

Kevin and Jacob's heads both snapped over to him. “You're shitting me, right?” Kevin asked. Atop the ladder he stood on, he placed a hand on his hip.

Changmin blinked. “I know it's someone's birthday; I can see it on the banner.” He threw his free hand in the direction of said item.

Kevin and Jacob exchanged looks with each other. Jacob was next to speak: “Changmin, do you seriously not know who's birthday it is?”

“No, am I supposed to?”

“Did you guys say Yn likes the firefly lanterns or the sparklers?” Juyeon waltzed in through the front door with his arms piled full of a smorgasbord of lighting arrangements. He nearly dropped one of the glass firefly lanterns (currently devoid of fireflies, luckily), and he just managed to fumble it between his fingers before it hit the ground and shattered.

Why would he ask what you…

The dots snapped together.

“Shit.”

The night had swelled into a symphony of merriment and mirth. The party everyone had thrown for you had sailed smoothly, with Eric and Haknyeon having dragged you back from your hike through the forest only to return to everyone's welcome and well wishes. Along with lovely songs, so much good company and food, and a massive cupcake with a candle staked in its frosting, the night simmered out with music and games in the town center as always.

But by the end, your energy was fizzled out, and you found yourself shoving your face into the mass of a familiar body.

His chuckle was warm as he cupped the back of your head, cradling you and pressing something sweet to the side of your head with his lips. “Tired, sweetheart?”

“Mmh,” you hummed, eyes fluttering closed. After a long day full of activity and energy, it was time to recharge. The two of you stood upon the inn's front porch where you usually shacked up when you weren't on the road for Changmin's job. At some point, you figured you would settle down somewhere more permanent, but there was a part of you that figured your counterpart's skin crawled at the idea of putting roots down somewhere.

Forever was permanent and long, but you were patient.

You heard him—felt him—clear his throat above you. “You—you’re not super tired, are you?” But as soon as he said that, he seemed to backpedal. “If you are, then it's okay. You need the rest.”

“What is it, Changmin?”

“It's nothing, I—”

You pulled back from him and arched a brow high. “Tell me.”

He winced to himself, cupping the back of his neck. You hadn't seen him so nervous before. “I—” he huffed as if he was working up the courage to say something, “Can I show you something?”

“Yeah, sure,” you said with a nod. You offered out your hand to him with a cheeky smile on your face. “Where to?”

Changmin's eyes darted from your face to your extended hand, then back up to your face. He slipped his hand into yours, fingers interlocking until your entwined hands hung between your bodies. “Upstairs,” he said, inclining his chin in toward the inn.

So upstairs, you ventured.

Instead of splitting yourselves up into two separate rooms like the very first time, you both shared a bedroom at the end of the second floor corridor. It wasn't like Changmin slept much anyway, so most nights you got free reign with bed space.

You didn't know why your heart began kicking up in speed as you approached the door. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary—no cliché rose petals strewn over the path, no candle light coming from beneath the door. You didn't expect anything of that sort from him, and frankly, you would have been suspicious if you ever witnessed something of that sort from him.

Changmin still hadn't said anything when you opened the door and let yourselves in. The bedroom was dark with only the light from the courtyard outside streaming through the slitted shutters on the window. There didn't seem to be anything new for him to show you here…

You sighed, letting go of his hand so you could massage your temples with the tips of your fingers. “I'm glad I didn't drink a lot tonight,” you mused, “I think I'm gonna need to train my tolerance back up again or something.”

“Yn,” he finally said, voice low.

You turned to face him, eyes wide as they adjusted to the darkness better. “Yeah?”

“It's on the nightstand.” Changmin shoved his hands into his pants pockets and if you weren't mistaken, there was a jittery energy about him.

“Right, okay.” A part of you became giddy at the thought that he got you something for your birthday—because that was what this was, right? Of course, you neither expected nor required something from him; you weren't even aware demons knew what a birthday celebration was.

Yet, you moved toward your side of the bed, leaning over to twist the lantern on to give the room a bit of warm light. Just as he said, there was something sitting on the nightstand beside your phone and the lamp.

Your heart stopped clean in your chest for a long second.

It was a ring.

There was no studded jewel at its apex; it was a band made of a dark material that gleamed like the color of mercury in the light. There seemed to be some kind of engraving on the side, but from where it sat, you couldn't make out exactly what it read.

You suddenly didn't know how to use your hands. Your fingers froze midair, unable to decide what to do with what sat there, waiting for you, calling out to you, for you.

“Changmin—” Your fingers miraculously managed to thaw and carefully pluck the ring into your grasp. You swiveled on your foot to face him, holding it up. He still stood where he'd been before like his feet were glued to the floor. “What… what is this?”

The organ in your chest hammered so hard against your chest that your ears were filled with the sound of rushing blood.

He swallowed. His dark irises flashed in the dim lantern light and you crossed the room to stand in front of him again. “It's—it’s a birthday present.” Changmin unconsciously scratched his bicep then gripped his arm. “I don't really know how birthday presents work, but you know, it seemed like an important thing, so it must call for something important in return,” he murmured, now cupping the back of his neck and trying to avoid your eyes.

It was interesting seeing him so flustered and grasping for an explanation.

“And I remembered that I—” When he raised his eyes to meet yours again, they searched your face. He lost his voice for a moment, all sense of thought. You still didn't know what he saw there to make him pause. A sigh fell from his lips. “When demons are born, they're given a naming ring,” he said quietly. “The stone used adjusts to the wearer's finger, so it can be worn all throughout their life. I guess it's kind of like a birthday celebration, just at the beginning of our lives.”

He motioned to the ring in your possession. “That's… that's mine. My name's in Latin on the side.”

Your thumb ran along the grooves carved into the stone, and though you didn't know Latin, you would commit the feel of his name to memory.

“Why are you giving this to me if it's so important to you, hm?” You asked softly.

“You're important to me.”

And if only every question between two people could be solved with so simple, yet so powerful an answer. You were positively devastated. “Oh, Changmin—”

He was quick to add, “If you don't want it and it's weird, then that's fine. I—”

“Changmin.”

“Yeah.”

“I love it. Thank you.”

“Oh.”

A smile curled itself onto your face and you saw it slowly reciprocate on his. You held up your hand, inspecting your fingers and wondering which you should wear it on. “Y'know,” you murmured, “Sena told me that the jewelry on each finger represents something.” You couldn't remember every one specifically, but you didn't have to doubt either of the ring fingers. Though this was no wedding ring, your right ring finger would do nicely.

“What does that one mean?” He asked quietly as you slid the band over your chosen digit. The stone was cool and smooth to the touch, and it seemed to fit exactly right, just as he said it would.

“Not really sure,” you confessed as he took your newly adorned hand into his. His thumb immediately went to feel his name curled around your finger. “Something that describes what you mean to me though.”

The light in Changmin's eyes was tender, warm, happy. He cupped the side of your face with his hand and brought his lips to your head, mouth lingering there for a second longer. “Happy birthday, sweetheart.”

Jungkook was elated, he turned for the nth time on his mattress, you loved him! His eyes were wide open, his heart was threatening to burst out of his chest, you loved him! He breathed deeply into his pillow.

He couldn’t wait for the morning.

Jungkook wanted you to sleep with him in his chamber but he knew it wasn’t the right timing, as much as he wishes he could have you beside him in his bed.

He needed to wait.

He was longing to hold you, to feel your warm body pressed against his chest, so he could play with your H/C hair, Jungkook felt so wide awake, you loved him, that’s why you were crying when he had the dagger pressed on his neck.

Even though you didn’t confess to him yet, but he could see the love in your eyes.

You loved him.

He inhaled a deep breath, pressing his palm on the left side of his chest, his heart was pounding, closing his eyes, the king smiled.

The first time he saw you.

he remembers it faintly, yet it’s engraved in his memory.

The little boy was confused as he held his mothers hand, walking with her in the congested streets. His clothes were rough, his feet aching but his mother was not focused on him.

He stared at the woman with his large brown eyes.

“Mother..” he whined in his small voice. Shaking her hand so she would focus on him.

“Mother!” The child cried out, he wanted to leave, this was not the environment he was used to, the sun was burning hot, the sunshine blinding him.

“What is it, my sweet? We’re almost there.” She cooed, her feet didn’t stop, the child had no choice but to keep walking with his mother.

“I wish to go home.” The child confessed, closing his eyes and crying, “I’m thirsty!” He whined again.

“Jungkookie… my sweetheart… I am aware. But I have some important business to do… I’ll fetch you some water soon!” The mother replied to her ten year old son as she finally stopped at a flower stall, fixing her veil quickly, “be a good boy, will you?” She caressed the crown of his head.

Jungkook grunted under his breath, he was a good boy, he had to listen to his mother.

He was perplexed as to why his mother, the queen of Corea was disguising and stalking this area, particularly this flower shop?

He was regretting for demanding to his mother that he accompany her to wherever she was planning on visiting. He was too attached to his mother after all.

And terrified of his father.

“Mother… what is it?!” He whispered to her. The child was utterly confused. He knew his mother visited the empire in disguise as she liked to escape his father for some hours, he could understand her decision but…. Why this flower shop?

“Excuse me?” His mother called out to a man, he noticed that the pitch of his mother’s voice was low, what was going on?

Jungkook shrugged away his thoughts, he rufused to understand his parents, they were too complicated for him to understand, the boy stared at the flowers, his eyes searching every inch of the wooden shop, he was not amused, it was plain, broken and boring.

Awfully boring.

“Yes, madam? How can I help you.

He was not interested in his mother’s conversation with the man.

As the shopkeeper turned his back to look at his customer, his mother to be exact, a sketch caught his attention.

A girl smiling with her crooked teeth, his eyes were crinkling as she stared directly into his face.

A big toothy smile on her face and a flower crown on her head.

He felt his heart beat loudly, his eyes fixated on the paper, focused on the girl's smile.

The boy was mesmerized at the sight of it.

She was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen, after his mother that is.

Before Jungkook could take his time to focus on that mysterious girls face, he felt his mothers hand tighten around his hand as she left the shop, dragging her son along.

“M-MOTHER?!” The boy called out, his feet forcing him to walk, his mother looked like she had seen a ghost.

Her eyes looked wild as Jungkook watched her.

“I-It’s him, I-It’s him!”

“Who’s who? Mother?”

She gazed at the young boy for a brief moment, a hush of warm wind hitting them as she spoke.

“The man your father has assigned for my assassination!”

His eyes opened wide, his mouth agape as he sat up abruptly, Jungkook was breathing heavily, his chest shaking as he looked around.

The same nightmare over and over again.

His nightmare wasn’t just a nightmare but it was the flashback to his past.

If only he had believed his mother then,

She would still be alive.

“Y-Y/N!” Jungkook noticed his tears as he cried out your name, the sun was almost out through the dark curtain of his chamber, the king fixed his robe, as he stood up from his bed and left his chambers.

He was so scared. He needed to see you before his nightmare enveloped his sanity completely.

He rushed out to the halls leading to your room, his eyes frantic and glossy, his head was hurting.

He needed you to calm him down.

He needed your warmth.

He needed you.

“Y-Y/N!” The man called out your name as he stormed into your chamber. He was sobbing, he was scared.

“Y-Y/N! S-Save me!” He closed the doors behind him before turning towards your sleeping figure, he watched your body stir, you were waking up, Jungkook climbed into your bed and grabbed your body before you could wake up properly.

Now, I just finished reading the second book yesterday, so I'm a little shook from what was happening. I know we can list Jin Guangyao's crimes in order – A-Su's death, Nie Mingjue's death, his own son's death, the cultivators he killed, Jin Zixuan, Jin Guangshian, and that's just the murders – but the cause of my negative feelings towards goes deeper than that.

My main issues with Jin Guangyao as I was reading started because of one thing and one thing only: man terrified me. Man is absolutely fucking terrifying, because he has no boundaries, no limits, no attachments, no love, no nothing. There is nothing he wouldn't do for his goals, for his ambitions. Which, in itself, is admirable, and he goes about it in a very smart way.

But reading the books had a chill running down my spine every time he justified his actions and worded things in such a way that seemed to absolve him of all guilt and make it seem like he was trying his best to do the good thing—

He was not. Everyone and everything was a pawn to him. He had a way with words that sucks you right in, that makes you feel empathetic towards him, that makes you feel for him, but it's not real.

It. Is. Not. Real.

So I could write an essay about how repulsive his murders are, or how nauseating his actions towards his wife and son are, or how sick his manipulation of Lan Xichen is, but if I had to pick a specific reason my admiration of his abilities turned to hatred, and I might even be a little biased, but it would most definitely be Nie Mingjue.

Nie Mingjue, who rose to defend him when he was nothing. Nie Mingjue, acknowledged his abilities and praised his character. Nie Mingjue, who let him go with a fucking letter of recommendation when he heard that Meng Yao still harbored a dream of being accepted by the Jin.

Nie Mingjue was not a perfect, flawless man. However, he saw through Jin Guangyao's schemes, and yet no one believed his doubts (looking at poor Lan Xichen). He was pushed to the brink of insanity, and it was so hard to read, because every time he would bring up JGY's actions, he had Jin Guangyao excuse them on one hand, then Lan Xichen defending him on another.

And Jin Guangyao pretended to help, to be the good guy, the patient loving friend, even as he was slowly killing Nie Mingjue. And he did. And if that weren't enough, he dismembered him, and scattered the pieces like they were nothing.

I don't know if people picked up on this while reading, seeing as he is defended by many, but Jin Guangyao was cruel. He was a cruel, unfeeling, narcissistic man, who can't be taken at his word, ever.

This might not be a very coherent post, and I could probably write a better introspection on hi character (with citations, istg), but I would just like to finish it by saying this: I am aware of this man's upbringing and difficulties in life. I am aware he was discriminated against for faults that were not his own. I am aware he was disadvantaged in a society were political ties are everything.

I am not blind to the writing of his character. I simply do not find it valid to defend a man so ruthless, just because his life was not fair.

I can’t stand having to go into stores or food places. It literally makes my heart sink down into my chest, I’m so socially awkward/anxious. It’s not that I can’t handle having to talk to the employees or anything it’s the fact that I’m always over analyzing everything around me and over thinking everything I’m going to have to say so I come in feeling like I would rather just have to go home instead of dealing with the situation.

For example this morning my brothers wanted a strawberry shake each so I did a mobile order for a place near by cause I know they usually have the machine going and all that by that time so it should be fine. Well the morning shift there at the beginning of the week have always been kinda weird towards me but this morning I come in (after it let me order said shakes) and I come up to the counter and everyone is just ignoring me and I’m kinda just standing there waiting (which I didn’t mind) until a guy walks by and looks at me and when he stops I tell him I have a mobile order.

And he kinda just laughs at me? And says “yeah we can’t make that right now *cue another laugh* the machines down” and this is the point where I’m trying to decide what I’m going to do so I look down at my phone and then back up and he’s squinting his eyes at me with his head slightly tilted? Like he’s looking at me like I’m weird or something? Anyways I ask him how could I go about getting a refund and then he laughs at me again and says “what?” And I repeat myself and he just shrugs and says you’ll have to ask her (there was a lady behind him who I’m assuming is his manager or the shift lead) and laughs again when he turns away to tell her. At this point istg I’m crazy cause I’m like did I do something wrong or am I being weird 🤦🏻‍♀️

But the lady turns around and says “what” so I tell her the same thing about the order and I make sure to tell her that I’m not upset and that I know it’s not her fault but that I’m just wanting to get a refund which I’ve had to do there before because they didn’t have an item I mobile ordered before and they gave me a refund just fine. And I kid you not this woman looks at me and tell me that it’s not her fault with major attitude which is when I once again tell her that I’m not upset or angry and that I just want a refund and she says that she can’t do that and that I’ll have to call the number on their app or they can give me something else (mind you the app says you have to contact the store you ordered the items from for a refund 💀). So I leave because my nerves were up really bad and I knew she wasn’t going to help me. I called them when I got home though and they said I could come back in two hours when they turn the machine on even though I was told the machine is broken not just turned off 😭 I just don’t know how to feel about all of that y’know? I’ve been in there plenty of times and I’m always polite so I don’t know what I did…

I’m just wondering if I went about something wrong? I thought I waited patiently and made it clear I wasn’t upset about the shakes, I didn’t raise my voice or anything. What makes it even worse though is the guy was attractive and I understand to some people that doesn’t matter but when you’re getting laughed at it sucks but getting laughed at by an attractive person? That makes me want to crawl into a hole and die

Quick life update! The reason I’m so slow with working on the requests y’all sent me is because now that I actually HAVE time because I have no other responsibilities, my parents decided it would be a good idea to make random day trips around the country. It’s exhausting, but it’s fun. As soon as I get a second to breathe, I’ll tackle those I have left in my inbox. Thank you for being so patient with me. (It’s also why I’m so not up to date with my timeline and everyone’s works and at this point, I’m just chronically lost because Tumblr and my life both confuse me).

Also, I dyed my hair a permanent red today. It’s ginger red, like the natural red tint I have in my hair just MORE ginger. And I put on my I’m Not Daredevil Sweater and my red glasses and istg I felt like Comic!Matt for a second. It’s the perfect costume for comic con (and for me to reenact DD scenes in my room in the middle of the night while it’s actually way too hot for a sweater, so I’m sweating but I look cool).

If I wasn’t so insecure, I’d post a picture, but for now I’ll just leave it up to your guys’ imagination. (It’s ginger Matt with way longer hair, but I feel like I got the ☹️ face down perfectly. I call it the white people smile).

I’ve also been looking for apartments in the city I’d move to if I actually get to graduate. I still have a good feeling, although I still don’t have my final grades and it’s stressing me out. I still have about three weeks to wait, and that’s a week before prom so I don’t know whether I should buy a dress or not, and if I do, I don’t know which one. I mean, I have the points to graduate, it’s just a really fine line. If my finals went well, I can move on to my last final, which is a presentation. That is what I am rooting for because I NEED to graduate. I want to. So fingers crossed that all works out well. Meanwhile, I’m trying to distract myself by searching for apartments and checking with university deadlines so I can apply as soon as I’ve got my report card. WHICH I AM GOING TO GET. In my head, I already have it. So yeah, there’s that.

My life’s messy, but it’s not as stressful anymore. It will be once I start preparing for my last final because I have anxiety and anxiety hates me as much as I hate her, but the worst part is over and now I’m just over here manifesting and romanticizing my life (and planning what pictures of Charlie to put up in my new apartment. vincent has a lot of insecurities surrounding his appearance and identity :( at the start of the story (around the time he meets jackie and then everyone else) he still gets misgendered regularly and that takes quite a toll on him, but this is something that goes away during the story and his self-confidence grows a lot because of it. he still feels a bit :// about it sometimes but this is generally easily fixed by bringing it up to vitali who will then not stop giving him attention until he feels better <3 meaning of "attention" is up to your own interpretation <3

was gonna say "vincent smells like axe deodorant lol" as a joke but. at least during the in-game events he most definitely Does most of the time SGFDHGDHFGJ not in a "cis man who thinks one can of axe deodorant is the equivalent of a shower" way but in a "trans guy who showers daily and then puts on a normal amount of deodorant" way <3

☾ Notes: Ah, I'm so sorry this took so long to answer. I got sick and couldn't really look at the screen without feeling like death, but I managed to get it done! But yes! I am taking requests, mostly headcanons because I'm still recovering and I have a few other stories lined up but am a little bit behind on those. I hope you like this!

☾ Twisted Wonderland and its character do not belong to me. ☽

☾ As you are already Trey’s s/o, it is inevitable that he would ask you to swing by the dorm, or vice-versa, when things aren’t too busy. This basically means when there isn’t an unbirthday party, tea party, or a school event coming up (yes, this also means exams), you guys would hang out or go on little dates. Unfortunately, some of those dates would be interrupted by either Riddle (who always apologizes in advance) or the infamous Adeuce duo (who never mean to interrupt, it just happens).

☾ With Adeuce, it’s a matter of whether or not they broke the rules again and/or spiked Riddle’s blood pressure. With Riddle, it's probably some dorm leader work. Trey was usually fine in these situations but sometimes, things could get a little too much because let’s be honest, Trey and Riddle aren’t just in charge of the little Heartslabyul group we love, they’re in charge of a whole dorm that could have almost a hundred or more students. I’m not sure the exact amount but NRC gets about two hundred students per year and after briefly doing the math, it’s about a hundred students for each dorm, not including Ramshackle. 

☾ Going off on that tangent, Trey does have a lot of dorm members to take care of and as a result, can forget sometimes to take care of himself. Sometimes, you give him snacks and/or a bento box and as a result, you always have some set of snacks on you. Before, you would carry some for yourself and just Trey, but now, you have snacks for Ace, Deuce, Cater, and sometimes Riddle as well. Whenever they’re hungry or feeling peckish and you happen to be nearby and hear, they suddenly find a snack being pushed in their faces. They're very grateful for it (especially the first years).

☾ Aside from snacks, I wouldn’t be surprised if you helped Trey bake stuff for any gatherings Heartslabyul has. Sometimes, Ace would come into the kitchen just to get something and then suddenly beg to lick the spoon while you and Trey are baking because everything just smells so good and anything you and Trey baked together must have been delicious, right? I also wouldn’t be surprised if you just asked random dorm members if they wanted a snack when they were passing by. The first time you asked Deuce if he wanted to taste one of the tarts you helped make, he was caught off guard. Most of them are caught off guard at first but got used to it. 

☾ But beyond helping with cooking, you inevitably end up parenting the rest of the dorm. You would always ask if everyone ate or if they did their homework or remind them to do so before Riddle had their heads. Sometimes, you would help Ace and Deuce study depending on what they need help with. The duo always appreciates how patient you are and how easily you break down the material for them. You probably end up helping them with any nonschool-related problems and once you had Deuce calling you mom at some point (he was very flustered and apologized even though you waved it off). You let Riddle rant about whatever he needs to (unsurprisingly, most of it consisted of the Adeuce duo). You help Cater come up with ideas for Magicam and sometimes help him take pictures. You’ve also helped Ace once or twice by diffusing a situation between him and other people in his dorm. 

☾ Trey is very grateful that you help him, but is also concerned about you because first off, this isn’t your dorm to take care of, and second, his dorm is a handful. He does try to do most of his own stuff before you come over or before a date comes up so you could avoid putting more on your plate than you need to. It works most of the time but there are days when he does need help with his workload, so please help him to the best of your abilities because yes, this man does need a hug and probably a day off or two. But remember to know your limits as well!

Pairings: Childe/Zhongli/Xiao x pregnant!F!reader (separate)

Summary: How they react to their s/o being pregnant + generally how they act when you're pregnant

Childe

He is shocked- yet also extremely happy but also scared and worried

Childe has always wanted to start a family of his own with someone he loves

Now he finally can!

He however hasn't thought it would be this soon

He would definitely still tease you about it and make bad jokes

hit him if he says anything out of line please

He will be more protective of you, edging you to always rest and let him do all the work

Or when he's not here he'll assign some fatui underlings to be your personal bodyguard and “maids” as he calls them

“Childe, we just found out I'm pregnant 5 days ago. I can still work...”

“But what if you get hurt? I don't want you to overwork and make yourself exhausted. Leave the chores to them!”

He tries to spend as much time as he can with you during your entire pregnancy

Especially later on when you're closer to your due date and stuff

The Tsaritsa is actually very kind and understanding about the situation, so she lets him off most of the time when he doesn't show up or have things done later than assigned due date

Okay, listen, to each their own, and I personally feel Hobi on so many levels, he doesn't really have a solid definition of love, it seems like he doesn't really have it consolidated inside his head as something he's actively searching for (romantic love at least) so bear with me on this one. For one part, we've got how flirting and quick stuff is his type of thing, like some type of grounding experiences that he holds close to his heart, even tho there is not much depth to them, he just- he knows what he's got and is able to work with it real good. Okay, so it looks like Jimin is one hell of a man that has come a long way in terms of his definition of love.
