i’m so obsessed with the way nova garon in survivor is build in total opposition to ilum in jfo (spoilers incoming) even though they come at the same point in the story / game and they both serve as a changing point in cal’s perspective while also making him face the past and how he chooses to continue the jedi legacy / cere’s legacy

right before he steps out of the mantis in jfo he says “it’s time i find out who i am” and ends the ilum section more powerful and certain and centered than ever; on the other hand, right after nova garon his character seems so lost and conflicted after experiencing the dark side. the exact opposite, he loses himself in the rage and the pain caused by bode and everything that happened on jedha.

and it’s such an amazing way to indirectly come back to cere’s warning - “we will always struggle, but that is the test” - because in order to remain true to himself cal must come to terms with what happened and accept that, accept his reaction, accept his failure and push forward for the bigger mission cere had, continue her legacy (legacy being such a major theme on ilum too).

I listened to the entirety of the magnus archives in a pretty short period of time, became obsessed, and now I've just restarted from the beginning bc I miss listening to it and holy shiiit jonny is a GENIUS FUCKING WRITER. like I knew this the first time around but now going back and listening to it while knowing everything is WILD what a fantastic fucking world he's created right from the start, and doing it all while the show was at its start when working with so little??? and serialized, being written as they went with only the broad layout of all 5 seasons laid out?? even being able to have 5 distinct arcs of story all planned out like that!! and back when they just had 3 dollars and a dream!! what an amazing fucking series
