16 March 2023
Not much to report. It's been a week or so since I last posted and the whole time I just wanted to get on here and post even though I didn't have much to say.
Megan's wedding was gorgeous. There was only 20 guests and it was so low key, it was perfect for Megan. She had an outside ceremony (moments before it started snowing!) and although it was cold when the sun was out it was stunningly warm. She had her wedding party at the weekend and that was really lush too though I was coming down with a cold that morning, so I didn't drink much but that didn't stop me dancing all night!
It's Thursday today and its the first day that I've woken up and felt okay and not so sick. This might be a false sense of security and I don't want to jinx anything but I feel good right now. Usually, I'm sick for weeks but I think I've managed to shake most of it off in a week which is amazing for me! I did not something different this time. As well as taking cold and flu medicine on time and paracetamol on time, I've been drinking warm drinks constantly whether that be a camomile tea or a mint tea, no dairy products (like cheese, chocolate, cream, tea), A vitamin C fizzy at least once a day, and hre's the stickler...
Good food and good mentality. I've given into every craving I had, usually mum's cooking. I made my own Chicken and sweetcorn soup, and Silky steamed eggs, and yesterday I had mum's chicken fried rice. THE TASTIEST.
Good mentality. That was a hard one but it is something that I've been practising for the past few months or so. So instead of wallowing in self pity thinking 'i feel so rubbish, I'm not well, I don't feel good, etc' I've been thinking 'I cant wait to feel better, I'm going to feel so much better once I'm over this, Once I rest I'll feel strong again' but honestly just getting on with it because although I'm sick, life still goes on. Money still needs to be made, laundry still needs to be done, food still needs be cooked and eaten. This week, I did cancel a client because I knew she had health issues already, I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable. But that's it.
I also had a 'sick day'. Sam is sick too at the minute, though you'd think he was much much worse than me by the way he's going but alas, we do indeed have the same illness and sorry but, I am stronger than him. I've said to him, he has to carry on. He can have one sick day and you can use that day to moan and really wallow in self pity but after that, you're done. Now you can opt to have a sick day but then not take it and save it for when you're worse, but if you take it you can't take another one, even if you're 10 times worse the next day.
I think also by having good mentality, you're willing yourself to feel better. I've been embarrassingly been thinking to myself 'come on white blood cells, you can do it' and I think it's working. I'm sure there's a study somewhere about 2 plants. Completely identical plants being looked after the same way at the same time. But one plant has encouraging words spoken to it and the other with discouraging words and guess which one flourished. The encouraged plant blossomed much better and I'll take that as a new motto.
Not long until our holidays! 6 Weeks until Cyprus! I'll have to find a dress soon now that I've got Megan's wedding out the way. I wore my sage green satin cowl neck dress to megan's and I was hoping to reuse it for Cyprus but I don't think the fabric will survive another go in the washing machine. I'm also not going to diet to get holiday ready which I'm quite nervous about. I mean, I wont engorge myself but I'll eat like I normally eat. Though I will stay away from pizza and kebabs which aren't foods I crave or want ever but Sam does and when Sam does, I'll order one and eat it out of lack of energy.
From the kebab/pizza/curry house I'll tend to get a plain boiled rice, with a chicken curry. Nothing too saucy, but something that's like grilled chicken with seasoning. That'll do me.

Life in a Dead World
My submission for @zelinkweek2021 day 5, prompt Domesticity: Family.
read it here on AO3!
When she gazes at the castle for the first time in one hundred years, when she takes her first good look at it in forever, she sees nothing but despair. Loss. She sees nothing but memories she once held dear, long dead and buried under the rubble. She sees nothing.
He is her guiding hand through this new, foreign world in which she is blind. The way he takes her hand ever so gently and leads her across the stepping stones of the future is comforting, but her steps are uneasy still.
“Zel,” someone calls. “Wake up.” A gentle shake rumbles her shoulder and she turns over to face the voice.
“I’m up,” she manages to say, though hoarsely, and wrenches her eyes open to meet Link’s face. He swipes a finger across her forehead, brushing back stray strands of her sunshine hair. Taking his time studying her face, his blue eyes dart around before settling on her lips. He places a chaste kiss upon them.
Most mornings spent in their house in Hateno Village were like this. She’d be woken up by him saying her name softly, like it’s a prayer, and he’d kiss her before rolling out of bed. He’d make them breakfast, something simple like eggs and rice, and then he would head out to the fields for work. She’d stay curled up inside, reading books on their bed and tinkering with whatever ancient scraps Link found on his adventures.
Zelda doesn’t really like the mornings. The sun rises and casts its bright rays on everything ugly in the world and the daytime forces her to face it. She remembers her last sunrise before the Calamity, though the memory is blurry and faded now. It was a quiet morning when she was sent on her way to the Spring of Wisdom to offer her final prayer to the Goddess Hylia, full of apprehension and fear—fears she fulfilled.
On this day, however, he makes pancakes topped with berries he had picked after work the day before. He serves her orange juice in one of the fancy glasses they reserve for company—though they never get visitors anyway—and sets the table nice, with placemats and flowers in the center.
“What’s the occasion?” she asks, finally lured downstairs by the sweet smells and clattering utensils. Sliding into the chair across from him, she takes up her fork and digs in.
“Nothing special,” he replies nonchalantly with a raise of his brows, but she can feel his gaze on her as he takes a sip of his own juice. Zelda is able to indulge in a few more bites of soft, buttery pancake before he speaks again.
“Will you come into town with me today?” he requests, his hand drifting across the table to gingerly grasp hers.
“That’s what the occasion is, then,” she mumbles bitterly. Her appetite is lost and she sets the fork down. “You know I can’t.”
The few times she stepped foot into Hateno Village, the few times she saw the faces of the men and women and children walking through town and living, she turned around and went back to their house on the edge of the village. Link would follow suit some time later and find her gripping the photo of them and the Champions, staining its glass cover with tears.
The village is bright and lively. He tries to make her see the good, but she is blinded by memories.
“Why not?” he prods, taking a step into where he’d never dared to go before, opening the door to her heart just a little more.
“You know why.” Her voice is shaky now. “When I look at them—when I see their faces, they… they remind me of the people I killed all those years ago.”
“You didn’t kill anyone.” His tone is the opposite of hers; certain and sure, and his foot is planted steady in the doorway now. Though his memories are few, they are vivid with color and life and they feel real each time he relives them, whether in his dreams or by traveling to the places he uncovered them in the first place.
“Killing isn’t just about who you strike with your blade, Link,” she scolds. “It’s about what you fail to do that causes their deaths.” Her hands rest now in her lap, leaving his empty and open atop the table. “In my case, I failed to awaken my power in time.”
“But they’re not the people you killed.”
“They look like ordinary citizens. People, innocent people, going about their lives. The very people affected by my incompetence.”
“But—”
“There is no reason for me to go into the village anyway.”
Link sits back in his chair. “Why?” he breathes. The door is closing and he’s fighting to keep it open now.
“Hyrule is dead,” Zelda says plainly. “It died long ago, with all those people. When I looked upon the castle, when we were traveling back here through ruin after ruin, I saw no life.”
“There’s life right outside our house,” he counters.
“We have experienced two different kingdoms, Link.” She stands from her chair and wanders to the stairs, fingers lingering over the banister. “You do not remember my Hyrule. In comparison, this land is dead.” The conversation is over. She walks up the stairs without a word and he can hear her shuffle into bed. Then, it’s silent.
He tries again the next morning. This time, he coaxes her outside with the promise of a morning spent picking the flowers growing in their yard. It’s peaceful and they can’t hear the sounds of Hateno Village from their quaint house across the bridge, and he watches her face as she plucks the white flowers from the ground. Her eyes are lidded and mouth curved into a small smile.
He wishes he could show those grass green eyes the beauty of the Hyrule he knows, from its snowy mountaintops to its humid jungles; wishes she could meet the people who helped him along his journey, the people he considers Champions of this new age.
When he’s accrued plenty of flowers in his basket, he calls out to her, “Hey Zel, come here!”
She crawls over, bringing her own basket alongside her. “What?”
“What do you want to do with all these flowers?”
She hums, then says, “I don’t know.” Pulling one out of her basket, she twirls it around by the stem.
“I was thinking we could go into the village and give them to the children,” he offers, standing up and holding out his hand.
“Is that what this was all about?”
“Well…”
She scowls, taking her basket and marching toward the house. He winces as the front door slams shut behind her.
Link, however, is persistent, and if he has anything, it’s the audacity. Every day he tries something new to get her to go into the village with him—getting water from the river, buying a new dress, even visiting Purah at the lab—but each attempt is turned down by her.
“I can do my own research right here from my bed,” she argues when he suggests visiting Purah. Never in his lifetime did he think he would witness Princess Zelda of Hyrule, ancient Sheikah tech extraordinaire and science nerd, turn down an opportunity to go study at a laboratory.
Then, one day, something strange happens. He leaves the house to go work in the fields like usual, bringing along a pitchfork and his lunch. He lets Zelda stay in the house to eat her breakfast and read her books. As he’s walking down the trail from his house, over the bridge and into the new developments that continue to creep ever closer to them, a hand grabs his sleeve.
“Zelda?” he asks when he sees her. “But I thought…”
“I don’t appreciate how often you tried to trick me,” she interjects, “but I did some thinking, and I want to try.”
He’s looking at her like she’s crazy, one eyebrow up and his mouth popped open.
“Please?” she begs.
Taking her hand into his, he nods, and together they walk into the village.
Zelda finds a comfortable spot on the edge of the well, legs dangling off the side and face shielded from the bright sun. She sits there, watching the children of the village run around and play, swinging at each other with sticks and throwing pebbles, while Link is off working in one of the farm fields. There are women behind the well gossiping a little loudly for her liking, but after a few hours she manages to tune them out.
One of the children approaches her grinning, missing teeth and all. Zelda’s world stops for a moment, forced to recall the faces of the children she aided in killing. She remembers running through Kakariko Village, drenched and dirty, and seeing the agonizing faces of the village youth while she desperately searched for Impa. She remembers the bodies—Goddesses, the bodies—both young and old, strewn across the cobblestone streets of Castle Town. Of all the memories she can visualize the best, it has to be that one.
“Hello, miss,” the child greets with a slight lisp.
Her world unpauses and she swallows hard, forcing herself to look into the child’s eyes. “Hello,” she replies.
“What’s your name? I’ve never seen you before.” There’s a booger under the child’s nose and a leaf in his hair.
“My name is Zelda.”
She’s staring at this child she’s never met before, with his big round eyes and missing teeth, and she pays special attention to the sound of his breath and the rise and fall of his chest. This child is alive, she knows, yet she can’t help but think of all the children whose blood stains her hands.
“Woah!” His eyes widen and his mouth drops open in shock. “Like the princess?”
“I suppose,” she sighs. In reality, she hates the title. It stings like a thorn even when it’s just an echo inside her head. Hearing the word forces her to recall the countless tales and rumors spread about her through the castle halls one hundred years ago, of her failures and incompetence.
“My mom has told me all sorts of stories about the princess! Like how pretty and nice she was.” Scowling, he crosses his arms. “Though my mom wasn’t alive then, so I don’t know how she knows that.”
“What are some other stories she’s told you?” Zelda raises a brow and leans in curiously. Does her memory survive on a different breath in this new Hyrule? For all intents and purposes, she doesn’t recognize herself from one hundred years ago as truly her. When people speak of the princess, they speak of a woman long dead.
“I don’t remember all of them, but she’s behind the well you’re sitting on. You could ask her.”
She glances back and winces. “Um, I think I’d rather have you tell me.” Zelda hops off the edge of the well and kneels down in front of the child. “What’s your name?”
“My name is Nebb,” he says. “Say, I don’t remember much about the princess, but I can tell you about this one guy I know.”
“Sure,” she replies, sitting on the ground next to Nebb.
“There was this traveler who came by our village a lot,” he begins, “and I asked him to show me a ton of weapons! I don’t know how he was able to find all of them, though. I think he lives in the old house outside of town.”
Zelda hums, resting her head in her hands. She thinks of Link, of the various weapons on display in their house, and there’s no doubt in her mind that she knows exactly who Nebb is talking about.
“I might know him,” she says.
“Really?” Nebb shouts. “He’s so cool, isn’t he? I’ve seen him totally demolish the Bokoblins that come too close to the village before.”
“He’s very cool,” she agrees, trailing off as a little girl approaches them. “And who is this?”
“I’m Narah!” says the little girl. “This is my brother.” She gestures to Nebb and he groans before running away to go play.
“Well, Narah, I’m Zelda.”
“I like to talk,” Narah states. “Ask me some questions!”
“Like what?”
“I don’t know. You’re the one asking them.”
Zelda can’t help but laugh. It’s a bright and healthy laugh, one that enraptures Link as he approaches her, sweaty from a day in the field.
“Someone’s enjoying herself,” he chuckles, helping Zelda stand from the ground. Narah gets bored with the attention no longer on her and chases after her brother.
“The children are very sweet,” Zelda admits. “Apparently people share stories about me.”
“They do,” he says. “They’re nothing like the stories you heard all those years ago.”
“What do you mean?”
Her steps as they walk back to the house are more confident, and her grip on his hand is sure.
“I know how people talked about you back then, Zelda. I figured it out through my memories.” He pushes the door open for her, setting his pitchfork against the outside wall before stepping inside. “But these people… they look up to you. You’re a beacon of light to them.”
“But I didn’t do the one thing I was supposed to,” she argues. “They don’t look up to me. They look up to the princess of a century ago.”
“They know you as that princess—that princess who valiantly sacrificed herself to the Calamity to prevent it from reaching their homes. You are what kept Hyrule alive all this time.”
“I’m not a princess anymore,” she mumbles, climbing up the stairs. “It’s just Zelda now. Besides, they don’t even know I’m her. We are two different people now, Link.”
He says nothing, only steps up to the kitchen counter and rummages through the cupboard.
“What do you want for dinner?”
She ventures into Hateno Village with him every day now, sitting at her usual spot along the edge of the well and talking to the village children. They are healing, she finds, with their wide smiles and innocent, naive eyes. After some days, she starts playing with them, chasing them around the village and tossing balls back and forth.
She would give anything to go back in time and have the childhoods they have. To frolic in the outdoors, to have both parents, to play and wish and dream and be a child. If Zelda wasn’t so wary of the statues of the Goddess Hylia, she would pray at them once more, pray for a real childhood.
One day, she finally talks to the mothers behind the well. Or, rather, they talk to her.
“Miss,” one of them prods, “why do you come watch our children everyday?”
“Oh, um.” Zelda fiddles with her fingers. “They’re very sweet.”
The women exchange strange glances. “You’re not trying to snatch up my little boy, are you?”
“No! Of course not, no,” Zelda hastily replies. “Nebb introduced himself to me. I enjoy playing with the children.”
The women still aren’t satisfied, and she can tell, so she asks, “What’s it like to be a mother?”
“Oh, it’s something, alright,” the woman with her brown hair tied up groans. “Every day is a struggle. Wake up, get ready, yes, you do have to finish all your veggies!”
Zelda smiles a little but wonders if it is really so much of a struggle to gossip behind the well every day.
“But there are times where I relish it,” the other one pipes up. “My children gave me a purpose when I had none.” A dreamy look casts itself upon her eyes. “They are my pride and joy, as difficult as they can be. My guiding lights, so to speak.”
And something clicks inside Zelda’s mind.
Link picks her up again at the well, sweaty and hot and tired as he normally is after a long day of moving hay and harvesting crops, and as they walk over the bridge to their house she stops him with a gentle hand on his shoulder. He looks over to her, frowning with concern.
“Link, I want a child,” she states, and his jaw drops.
Normally, he would try to keep her out of bed for as long as possible. That night, however, he wastes no time in helping her into it.
And so their life continues on exactly like that—days spent working or playing with the village children, rubbing her belly in the hopes she may have one too, nights spent panting in bed, kissing, hot and sweaty and intimate. They’re not strangers to making love, but they are new to doing so with a purpose.
Zelda is suspicious when she misses her period, but what solidifies her hypothesis is when she wakes up one morning with a sick feeling in her stomach before leaping out of bed and rushing outside to dispose of last night’s dinner all over the grass. Link awakens only moments later, finding her outside hunched over and gripping one of the house’s posts. He holds her hair back while she retches some more.
“Zelda…?”
She can only look back at him and smile, nearly laughing with joy, before jumping up to hug him.
“I still don’t get it,” he says while she peppers kisses all over his face.
“Link, I missed my period a while ago,” she explains, finding her footing on the grass. “And feeling sick in the morning, throwing up… do you not know what it means?”
His face contorts in thought, eyebrows furrowed and nose scrunched. His blue eyes drift off to something in the distance as he racks his brain for a possible conclusion.
Zelda whispers into the ear of her lover, “I’m pregnant.”
She can’t see his face light up because he hugs her so tight she’s struggling to breathe, but she lets it happen. Her wish, her one prayer she had ever bothered to offer to the Goddess after the defeat of the Calamity, comes true.
The nine months go by like a breeze, her bump growing week by week, having to stay home and rest more often because of it, but she’s happy. She spends her evenings in the rocking chair Link constructed for her, singing to her belly as she rubs it with her soft hands. Her cravings get weirder, too. One week, she’s asking for delicious fruitcake, and the next, she’s asking for soup but instead of meat, it’s monster parts.
Still, Link obliges, going out and picking (or slaying) whatever he needs to to satisfy her. Eventually, the doctor they visit in the village has to start coming to them when it becomes too backbreaking for Zelda to walk, and by some will of the Goddess, the doctor is present when she goes into labor on a rainy autumn morning.
Even as she’s pushing and screaming and grunting, Zelda thinks Hylia must be apologizing, because according to the doctor, it was one of the easiest deliveries he’s ever assisted with. He hands Zelda her baby, wailing and wriggling, small and pale, with a head of soft, thin hair, colored like Link’s. The doctor leaves them alone, lingering downstairs in case anything else needs to be done.
Link kneels by the bedside, watching as Zelda coos at the baby and pokes at her tiny hands. “What will we name her?” she asks him.
“Do you have any ideas?”
She hums, but her eyes never leave the baby. “I would like to name her Impa,” she says.
“I think that’s a great name.” His voice is a whisper now, quiet and hushed as he marvels at the sight of Zelda and their child, and for the first time in a long while, his beloved’s green eyes shine once more.
She smiles down at her baby, because even in a Hyrule she thought long dead, new life still prospers.

Saving Her (Ojiro Mashirao x Wolf!Reader)
Tumblr media
Part 2 : Aizawa’s reluctant dad side kicks in when he sees you’re clearly distressed, fast friends with Midoriya, fluff with the girls of 1-A, Todoroki and Sato.
Word Count: 5.7k
Tumblr media
Bowing your head in defeat thinking that there was nothing you could do to possibly change his mind, you started to shuffle towards him when you were stopped.
"Ojiro-san..." You whispered.
He refused to move his tail. He refused to let you go.
"Aizawa-sensei, please," He was desperate, worried out of his mind at what would happen if you were left alone.
If he wasn't there to protect you.
He gritted his teeth, holding back as best as he could. "Don't do this."
"Do you want her to be safe or do you want her to be with you?" Aizawa's eyes were serious. "Because those are two different things."
The boy fell silent beside you.
"Here, she's exposed. Her whereabouts have been leaked to your classmates and while I don't blame you for the incident that occurred, you have taken responsibility for her." The older man continued despite your head ducking down in shame. "This is what's best, not only for her, but for the rest of you."
He directed that last part over your shoulder and you glanced over to see all the boys from earlier as well as a couple more unfamiliar faces that obviously had been roused from their sleep due to all the noise.
Aizawa sighed, really not wanting to argue or go up against one of his most dedicated students this late at night. "You have to remember this dormitory was built to ease your parents' worries. They entrusted your safety to us and we are responsible for you."
The air suddenly got a lot more difficult to breath.
"I told you that you would have to earn my trust back." He said, rough but even voice cutting through the silence like a knife, alluding at something you didn't understand.
You didn't want this. You didn't want to make things hard on everyone or cause a fuss.
"I'll go."
Ojiro's expression of surprise gave way to pain. "Y/N..."
"They'll be safer if I leave, right?" You met Aizawa's blank stare bravely despite your knees knocking together. "I want to protect them, too."
Protests rose from the other students at your determination, the majority of them pleading for you to stay, much to your surprise. But their teacher wouldn't budge and slowly, they had no choice but to give up. As much as they wanted to get to know you better, it seemed like that would have to wait.
You looked up at Ojiro, sad to have to leave but knew it was the best thing to do for now. As you moved to take off and return his hoodie to him, he halted your movements.
"Keep it." He urged, a slight blush present on his cheeks. "I don't want you to get sick."
With a small smile, you thanked him quietly, promising to give it back when you were able to see him next. He returned your smile at the prospect of there being a next time before unwinding his tail from around you.
You followed Aizawa to where he was staying so that he could make a phone call from his office. You took a second to peer around the cluttered room curiously but dared not explore. Unlike Ojiro, he didn't seem like he would take kindly to you poking around his things.
Suppressing your instinctive curiosity, you gulped when he hung up the phone, approaching you with his hands stuffed in his pockets.
"For now, you can't stay on the school grounds until we figure out some kind of legal guardianship." He relayed, being rather straightforward and clear cut with you. "I'll walk you to an inn for tonight."
"Ah..." You trailed off as he fixed his gaze on you, shuffling your feet awkwardly. "T-Thank you Aizawa-shi, but I-I can... take care of myself. I don't want anyone to get in any trouble and I know it will reflect badly on UA if you are caught harboring me, so..."
Letting out a heavy sigh, he walked past you as you rambled, opening the door. "Just hurry up."
You walked quickly, not wanting to fall behind as he strode on ahead of you, paying your entire speech no mind. You didn't know whether or not to be thankful or offended but greatly leaned towards the former. It was true that you had enough survival skills to look after yourself but life was much harder when there wasn't anyone in it.
It took about an half an hour by taxi but the night was nice and Aizawa instructed you to hide your ears and tail as well as not talk to anyone else.
You followed him to a quaint inn at the outskirts of UA's property, checking in at the deserted lobby, Aizawa paying for your room for the night. Unable to help it, you started to wander, curiosity taking over.
The walls were decorated with vintage wallpaper, curling slightly at the edges when one panel would fade into another. But while the air inside felt musty and the carpet was stained with faint shades of tea and coffee, the fresh flowers at the center of the lobby brought a smile to your face.
Once you were out of earshot but still within his field of vision, Aizawa turned to the owner.
"Make sure she gets whatever she asks for." He told him gruffly, handing him a bunch of yen to compensate for the trouble. "Food, blankets, whatever she needs."
"Y-Yes, of course, sir." The owner babbled, stunned by the sheer amount of money he had just handed to him.
You spun around, yelping frightfully when you face-planted into Aizawa's chest. He steadied you, sending you a glare that one could only decipher as a warning. Backing away quickly, you apologized profusely until he cut you off, telling you not to make so much noise.
It was late and he had a headache.
Chastised, you followed him up the creaky stairs, coming to a door with green paint peeling off of it.
Aizawa arched an eyebrow, then internally shrugged, using the key to open it. Inside, there wasn't much. A twin sized bed was crammed next to a lumpy couch he was assuming had a pull out cot, a table and a single chair in the corner along with a small bathroom.
He sighed again, wishing that he brought his sleeping bag. That would've been more comfortable than this.
Flicking on the light, he drew the curtains closed. Sparing a glance over his shoulder to make sure you were still alive since you hadn't talked since he entered, his eyes narrowed when he found you with your back pressed against the door, eyes widened in alarm.
Your knuckles were white from where you were clutching the doorknob, nearly breaking it in the process and the sound of it rattling is what drove him to finally break the silence.
Recognizing the patterns of your behavior, he turned around to face you, keeping his shoulders relaxed and maintaining eye contact with you. Trying to appear as non-threatening as he could possibly get, he forced his jaw to unclench.
You let out a shaky breath you didn't know you had been holding in when his expression softened. If you didn't know any better, it almost seemed like he was being kind.
"I don't know what you've been through but I'm not going to do anything to you, kid." Aizawa murmured and you were taken aback by how the edge to his voice disappeared when he was talking with you. "I also know that might be hard to believe coming from a stranger, but it's late and you need to sleep."
He had a feeling you would react like this and while initially he had planned on leaving and going back to the dormitory to get some shut eye before the sun came up, something compelled him to stay.
He wasn't sure it was because of your reaction but regardless, he wasn't leaving now.
This area wasn't well protected and if anyone saw you coming in and him leaving, they wouldn't hesitate to take you. He didn't know how well informed the Quirk Traffickers were but he wasn't going to take any chances.
Waving his hand towards the bed lined with fluffy pillows, you hesitated before timidly laying down as he suggested. Now, you realized what he was doing. With you here and him there, he had maximized the space between the two of you and didn't block your access to the door in case you needed to flee.
Your ears flicked nervously as you got under the covers, trusting him a little bit more. "What about you?"
He exhaled, eyes closing, swollen bags already present under them. "I won't move from here. I'd leave you alone, kid, but I'm not sure that's a good idea since those guys that are after you are pretty persistent."
Your eyebrows knitted together, contemplating if it was a good idea to ask him.
He had just started dozing off when your shy voice asked, "You're a hero, right?"
Humming nonchalantly, he hoped you would drop it there but you didn't.
"Is..." You played with your fingers, tail flicking back and forth. "Is there any way I can become one?"
That piqued his curiosity.
You stiffened when he cracked an eye open, piercing your soul.
"Why don't we talk about it more in the morning, kid?" He finally said.
Unable to conceal your eagerness, you beamed at him and he crossed his arms over his chest, which was rumbling with laughter. You shifted, getting comfortable and promptly fell asleep. For the first time in a while, you didn't stir once during the night.
He stared at you for a little while longer, gaze growing fond. For a kid to have gone through as much as you have, you sure appeared pure and untainted. Your energy was infectious.
A nightmare for the constantly exhausted underground hero.
Hmm... maybe this kid won't be so bad after all.
The next morning, you were awoken by the light of the sun for the first time in years only to be shocked when a steaming hot plate of sausages and fried rice with eggs were placed by your bedside.
"Aizawa-shi?" You yawned, rubbing your eyes sleepily.
"You don't have to be so formal, kid." He told you. "Aizawa-sensei is fine."
During the night, he had moved from the corner to keep an eye on the door. Sometime around 3 am, he had finally fallen asleep and when he woke up, there was an annoying crick in his neck.
Your nose scrunched up as you sat up, accepting the plate of food he offered you. "But you're not my sensei."
He shot you a look at your cheeky reply and instantly, you shut your mouth, stuffing your mouth only to cry out when you burned your tongue. He scolded you immediately and rushed to get you a glass of cold water.
You smiled sheepishly as he made you drink some before instructing you to blow on your hot food before shoveling it in your mouth like that. This time when you resumed your breakfast, the silence wasn't harsh or stifling like last night. It was lighter.
"I would be if you attended UA."
You dropped your chopsticks. "Huh?"
After more thought and a lot more details from him, you learned that when he had contacted Principal Nezu late last night for the third time. He had asked if it would be possible to enroll you in the general studies course until they could figure out a safe place for you.
Going to school would put you on a lot of lists due to the information the school had to provide for the government and it wasn't his initial plan since you wouldn't be able to hide in the blink of an eye with no paper trail, but he couldn't think of anything else after that fiasco that Ojiro had informed him of last night.
Plus, with you enrolled in their school with literally pro-heroes everywhere, you would be well protected simply within UA's walls. And if you ever went missing, he could already think of twenty students who would come to your aid.
You were silent at first, mulling it over. Your fluffy ears twitched every so often as you ruled out other possibilities until a wide smile spread from ear to ear.
You bowed at him, popping back up with your eyes shining, heart touched that these people you barely knew were going so far for someone like you.
"I would be honored, Aizawa-sensei."
You spent most of the weekend alone since he had other responsibilities that required his attention but he always came by at lunch to check on you and then again at night to keep watch while you slept. You argued that he didn't need to do all of that but strangely enough, he insisted and you conceded, unsure of how much you could push the issue since he was your senior.
Before you knew it, the weekend and Class 1-A's break was over. It had been four days since you ran into Ojiro and you couldn't lie. You missed him.
Badly.
Aiawa had classes to teach and you were looking forward to seeing Ojiro and Yaoyorozu and the other girls again.
For the past few days, he hadn't let you leave the motel room.
The innkeeper, who you learned his name was Jin, often came to keep you company when you requested some food. You felt bad for making him do so much work but he never seemed to mind it. In fact, he rather seemed happy to have someone to talk to.
You were supposed to leave at the same time as Aizawa the day classes resumed but were so taken with the invention of the bathtub on the way out that he had to leave before you. Heaven forbid he got fired because he was late in helping you figure out how a shower worked.
Which is why you were confused when he kept finding excuses to stay longer until he admitted to being uneasy leaving you to walk to UA alone. You teased him and he rolled his eyes. But in all seriousness, who was going to try their luck in broad daylight?
No one was going to snatch you in front of a bunch of people.
He had nothing to worry about.
After a very long and thorough lecture of safety he hammered into your head to keep the door locked at all times and to stay away from the windows, only to follow it up with all the emergency protocols you were to follow if you were being followed or attacked.
To be honest, you nodded your head through it to show that you were listening just to appease him.
He finally left an hour later and you were free to do what you wished without him quietly worrying away in the corner that you were going to hurt yourself.
It was becoming a known thing that despite your keen wolf senses, you were very clumsy.
Aizawa found it oddly amusing and horrifying at the same time.
Deciding a bath was in order, you filled up the tub with warm water, washing away all the grime and blood that had accumulated over time with a soft hum of contentment.
Once that was done, you got dressed and finally left, bidding the Jin, who was at the counter a warm farewell and thanking him for the many meals.
He waved goodbye to you, telling you he hoped you would come back and visit soon even if it wasn't to stay at the inn and you nodded eagerly, promising to visit him in the future.
You skipped down the pavement, making sure your ears were sufficiently hidden under the hood and tail tucked away thanks to the excessive length of the huge sweatshirt. You thanked the heavens above that you had been born with normal eyes.
The last thing you wanted was to have to wear sunglasses all the time.
Three hours later, you were standing out the gates of the school, completely smushed against the security gate and getting trampled on by the press in their chaos to try and find a way to break in.
Geez, their persistence was annoying.
You would've gone another way if you knew one. This was the only route in and out of the school as far as you were aware.
Squealing when you took a tumble as someone shoved you a little too hard, you winced as you tried to catch yourself from falling, only to scrape your knees when you landed on the rough cement.
Ouch... You grimaced, pulling down on your hood to ensure that it wouldn't slip off and expose your ears. That one hurt.
Puffing out your cheeks, you concluded you weren't going to get anywhere so long as they were here. You took your chances, taking off for Heights Alliance.
Just as you thought, the building was locked but you sniffed the air, eyes lighting up as you spotted the same boy from last week. You had caught him talking to Ojiro before and he had taken the liberty of introducing the two of you. He was sitting on the front steps with a somewhat distant look in his eyes and a small notebook in his hands.
"Midoriya-san!!"
He turned at the sound of your voice, visibly lighting up when he saw you.
"Y/N-chan!!" He greeted enthusiastically, then dropped his hand in concern at your disheveled appearance and bloodied knees, running out to meet you. "What happened?!"
"Ah," You winced, flashing him a canine smile full of guilt as if it was your fault you got hurt. "I got pushed around by those people crowding the front."
Pulling a key from his pocket, the boy laughed along with you before unlocking the front door. "Aizawa-sensei tells us not to talk to them, but I'm pretty sure Kacchan has threatened them before."
You tilted your head, puzzled. "Kacchan?"
That name didn't ring a bell.
He enthusiastically explained the rivalry of his childhood friend as he navigated you through the common area. You sympathized with his story, listening attentively when he mentioned how desperately he wanted to be friends with him and admired him.
Ah, so Kacchan was the explosive pomeranian.
You smiled when he told you that recently things were starting to change between them and hugged him happily when he mentioned that maybe they would finally get to be friends one day.
"How are you so nice to him after he tormented you like that?" You asked, genuinely curious and in awe at how his bullying didn't harden his heart.
Midoriya shuffled towards the kitchen. "Kacchan acts mean but he really isn't. He's really strong so I think he just doesn't want to look weak."
His thoughts rang through your head and you fell silent when he didn't elaborate.
Actions speak louder than words, huh?
Sitting down on one of the couches, you followed him with your eyes as he rummaged through something under the sink. "What are you doing? And aren't you supposed to be in class?"
He straightened up with a small huff, cheeks flushed in embarrassment. "Ah, well, they're training today and Aizawa-sensei says I'm not allowed to participate until I learn how to fight without injuring myself."
You tapped a finger to your chin as he came over with a duffle bag in his hand, sitting a respectable distance away from you. "But if you don't train, then how will you get there?"
Midoriya just smiled easily, eyes turning into crescents. "He doesn't really mean that but today he actually wanted me to make sure you got here okay."
You jolted at that.
"He what?!"
"Yeah," His brow furrowed but then smoothed over once he found what he was looking for. "I know it probably seems like Aizawa-sensei doesn't care that much but he actually does, and a lot, for us."
He told you about the USJ incident and the lengths he had gone to protect them when the League attacked.
You were speechless. Sure, this was not that new to you since you had experienced his rugged, begrudging version of kindness over the past couple of days but to have someone go out of their way to make sure you were safe and for them to actually agree to it was a whole other thing.
To hear that you weren't the only one who experienced that side of him made your heart feel warm.
Aww... he's such a softie.
"Ojiro-kun wanted to do it but Sensei said he needed to work with Ectoplasm on his tail movements." Midoriya explained, not noticing the pink that dusted your cheeks as he mentioned his name. "Here."
Blinking, you stared at him for a beat before you realized he was holding something out to you. "Oh!!"
You took the pair of athletic sweatpants with a questioning glance. "What are these for?"
He blushed, stammering. He didn't think he would have to explain it. "W-Well, y-you know, Yaoyorozu-san always k-keeps an emergency bag for these kinds of things and I-I don't think she would mind."
You giggled and his nerves faded a little in wake of your bright laughter. He gave you some band-aids and ointment to apply on your scrapes after you cleaned it.
"That's really thoughtful, thank you." You said.
He scratched the back of his neck shyly, matching your smile before packing away the rest of the things while you went to go change.
Fortunately for you, the slight injury wasn't severe. There was only a slight discoloration from where you had impacted the pavement surrounding the patches where a couple layers of skin had come off.
As soon as you finished taking care of it and put on the pants he had given you over your usual shorts, you exited the bathroom only to find Midoriya in the same place you had left him.
"So, class?" You asked, now that he had fulfilled his mission from Aizawa.
He smiled sheepishly, holding up his phone. "Ah, about that..."
Apparently, the police were held up by traffic at the moment and couldn't deal with the press that were still disrupting the students and staff. One had been foolish enough to try and cross the sensor without a pass, causing the UA barrier to activate. No one could get in or out for the time being.
Since they just built the dorms recently, the teachers were working to extend the barrier around the new buildings but it hasn't been finished yet. Instead, Cementoss created a high wall to keep outsiders out while the finishing touches would be put in place.
So while you couldn't go to school, you also couldn't go anywhere else.
Midoriya sighed, looking awfully forlorn. "I'm sorry, Y/N-san. It looks like we'll be here for a while."
"That's okay!!" You cheered, plopping down next to him, not wanting to see him so sad. "This will give us some time to talk, right? What's your story?"
He was surprised you were able to let go of it so quickly since you seemed so eager to see his classmates, then shook his head as confusion hit him like a truck. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, what made you want to go here?" You asked, tucking up your knees and resting your chin on top of your knees. "Why do you want to be a hero?"
The look that crossed his face was one of unbridled joy and determination as he launched into his story after hearing that you wanted to know about him. That look in his eyes only grew brighter the more excited he got and his energy was contagious.
You couldn't help but cheer along at his moments of triumph as he relived the memories.
It connected into him showing you his notebook where he wrote down everything about all sorts of heroes once you asked him how he managed to keep track of everything he had told you in his brain.
The two of you were so engaged with your conversation, hunched over the coffee table as he tore through his notes that neither one of you heard the front door open.
But the loud chatter that flooded the common floor had you both springing to your feet in an instant.
"Welcome back, everyone!!" Midoriya greeted enthusiastically as his peers crashed the party. "Y/N-chan is here!!"
You smiled happily as Ashido launched herself at you, smothering you in a hug.
"Y/N-chan, you're back!!" She shouted excitedly. "Yayy!!!"
"I hope it's alright that I'm borrowing these." You tugged on one of your ears self-consciously as Yaoyorozu greeted you just as warmly. "There was a minor incident earlier."
The raven-haired girl waved you off automatically. "Of course it is!! That's what it's there for after all. You can keep those, I'll replace them later."
Jaw dropping open in surprise at how cool she was, you just managed to catch Uraraka as she flew at you at breaknecking speed. You returned her hug, smiling and bobbing your head along with her as she caught you up on all the latest things that had happened since you were gone after making sure you were okay.
It was almost weird. Almost like you fit right in.
You had only met them once last week and yet they were all so eager to befriend you. You thought you should've been more wary of them but they didn't seem to mean you any harm. Your gaze eagerly scanned for Ojiro, only for your tail to droop slightly when you didn't see him.
Hagakure giggled, picking up on your disappointment. "Aizawa-sensei asked him to stay behind for extra lessons today, but he'll be back later~"
If the invisible girl was visible, you were almost sure you would've seen her wink.
After that energetic yet warm welcome, you were ushered further inside as the boys took over the common space to hash out some friendly competition through a game of Smash.
Bakugou was banned, he broke one too many controllers in his fit of rage last time.
You stumbled through the hallways and jittered nervously as you and the girls took the elevator up to Yaoyorozu's room.
It was rather cramped, given that all her furniture was a lot bigger than her bedroom could handle but that just meant you all could sit in a circle on her enormous bed.
Hagakure eagerly asked if she could paint your nails to which you stammered out you weren't exactly sure what that meant.
An array of shocked gasps had the girls scrambling in a flurry to grab anything and everything needed for an evening of relaxation. Jirou even grabbed her guitar while Yaoyorozu left to go make some tea. Uraraka got to work on detangling your hair, in awe of your fluffy ears. The two of you were caught giggling hysterically as Asui came through the door with the elder girl balancing a tea tray in tow.
The next couple hours consisted of you getting to know Asui better, the frog girl preferring you call her by her first name, Tsuyu, and the girls spoiling you rotten, completely ignoring the fact that they had homework due tomorrow.
You were floored.
Your stomach started to growl and your cheeks pinked when Ashido shrieked at how adorable you were.
Jirou just barely stopped herself from smacking her friend, you were clearly hungry.
Yaoyorozu asked if you would like something to eat and you bowed your head, folding your hands in your lap.
"... If... If it's not too much to ask for." You said quietly.
Yaoyorozu cooed and Hagakure squealed, practically dragging you out of the room and back downstairs. Uraraka and Jirou stayed behind, needing to get to work on a project that wasn't due until the end of the year, but wanting to get started on it now so that they didn't have to do it later.
Midoriya was nowhere to be seen once you got downstairs, but the other boys hadn't moved since you had last seen them with a few exceptions.
Kirishima and Kaminari were still lounging in the same spot but had turned the TV off and had textbooks spread out before them.
Shoji, Aoyama and Iida were in the adjacent corner, all three of them looking up when Ashido bounded over to them.
Asui went over to where Tokoyami was studying, and the two of them started studying for Midnight's upcoming exam.
Sato was in the kitchen when Yaoyorozu came in, greeting her politely when she asked if he could help her make something for you to eat. He blushed a bit, saying how he didn't have much experience cooking since he was more proficient in sweets but that he could try.
"What's going on?"
You turned around at the unfamiliar voice as Yaoyorozu greeted him, with a slight twinge of relief in her tone.
"Todoroki-san!!" Yaoyorozu smiled. "Do you know how to make any meals? Y/N-chan is hungry."
The boy with two-toned hair debated the situation, brow knitting in concentration.
"I'm not sure." He said slowly.
He wasn't sure he'd be able to make you something satisfactory. He really only liked to eat one thing and therefore only knew how to make that well.
"Do you like soba?" He asked you.
You tilted your head, the word not ringing any bells. "What's that?"
Todoroki cracked a small smile at your curiosity, then pushed up his sleeves and immediately got to work alongside Sato while Yaoyorozu fetched what he needed.
You wanted to help them but seeing as how you had no idea what it was or what they were doing, you decided to leave them to it. Sitting on the same stool at the kitchen island as the first night when you came here, you interjected occasionally to grab something they seemed to be looking for in an attempt to not be entirely useless.
Sato was the one to reassure you that there wasn't much to do in preparing it and that your food would be done soon.
Five minutes later, Todoroki was pushing a bowl of hot soba towards you. Sesame and ginger wafted through the air from the broth and your nose scrunched up cutely, bright eyes going wide as you salivated.
"It smells really good!!" You cheered.
A subtle but relieved smile made its way onto his face at the compliment and he handed you a pair of chopsticks. You had been fed hot food so rarely you weren't used to cooling it down before you ate it. You dived in, recalling Aizawa's instructions from before and blowing on it first before tentatively taking a bite.
They were really tasty for something that looked so simple.
You beamed, soup dribbling down the side of your chin once you tasted it. "Thank you, Todoroki-san, Sato-san, Yaoyorozu-chan!!"
The boys bowed while the girl diligently wiped your chin with a napkin and patted your head, happy you liked it.
Content that your needs had been satisfied, Yaoyorozu asked if you wanted anything else before she got started on her homework for the night. You shook your head, thanking her once more before she left, Todoroki following not long after.
Finishing your soba, you watched curiously as Sato whisked something together in a large bowl, checking on the paper on the counter before pressing a couple of buttons on the oven.
"Whatcha doing?" You asked, nose twitching,
His gaze flickered up to yours and he smiled. "I'm making a chiffon cake. Would you like to try it once it's done?"
You beamed, practically drooling at the thought of it already. "Yes, please!!"
The aromatic scent of chocolate hazelnut made your mouth water as he pulled it out of the oven.
He made casual conversation with you as you stared longingly at the cake that had to set first before he cut it. You were surprised to find out that he liked baking more than cooking but nodded your head understandingly when he explained his quirk to you.
"That's so cool!!" You exclaimed, flapping your hands excitedly. "You convert all of that into power and it makes you stronger?!"
"Yes, but it doesn't last very long." Sato told you as he sliced the confection carefully. "And my brain doesn't work as well but it is quite handy to have in a difficult situation if I have some snacks on hand."
Your eyes lit up when he handed a generous slice to you on a plate rimmed with cherry blossoms. It almost looked too good to eat.
Almost.
You waited until he got back from distributing it to his peers who were still in various spots on the common floor before sharing it with him so you could eat it together. Of course he didn't remember to save any for him.
"Isn't this a lot of work?" You mumbled around a mouthful of cake as he explained how he'd been trying all sorts of new recipes. "Doesn't it get tiring?"
Sato nodded, cleaning up his work space and grabbing new bowls from the cabinets. "Yeah but it's worth it since it helps me with my quirk. Besides, I get to share it with everyone when they're done."
You giggled, pointing at him with your fork. "Yes, that's definitely a plus."
A hearty guffaw erupted from his lungs, causing several others to look over in your direction but your smile only grew wider.
You made someone laugh. Really laugh. It made warmth bloom in your chest and you kicked your feet happily, chomping on the last bit of cake with a blissed out look on your face that was equal parts from the confection and your new friend.
He might've looked intimidating but he was nothing but kind.
The front door cracked open and your head turned at the various greetings that came from around the shared space had your eyes widening.
You dropped your fork and it clattered on the countertop of the kitchen island.
"Ojiro-san!!"

Chapter 1
The Injured Hybrid
Tumblr media
" Wake up noona" Seo Yoon heard the voice of Jungkook shaking her from slumber. He nuzzled his face in the crook of her neck tickling her with his soft ears. She chuckled at his action and finally got up.
"Aish, kookie where do you get so much energy at 5 in the morning." You said gently rubbing his bunny ears. He purred.
"Noona everyone is sleeping and I have been up for a while. I didn't want to disturb you but you said you have to wake up early for your work today so I thought I should come and see" He said his cute smile on full display a faint shade of red on his cheeks.
"Let's go and make some breakfast for everyone then, you can help me" She said getting down from her bed and following Jungkook towards the kitchen. The 23 year old was always cheerful making sure everyone around him is happy too. For his age he definitely acts like a cute lil toddler but she loved him dearly.
"Kookie I plan on making fried rice and omelette for breakfast. I'll start with the rice could you whisk me some eggs?" She told him and he nodded while grabbing a large bowl and a crate of egg from the fridge.
Seo Yoon was cutting the vegetable when Jin walked in the kitchen his hair a mess. "Good morning Jin oppa" "Good morning hyung" You and Jungkook said at the same time.
She felt gentle hands at your back, untying your apron. “I can take over Y/N, why don’t you go take a bath? You have to be at the center early for the rounds right? " Jin said shaking your hair.
“Thank you oppa, what Would I do without you” she said, stepping away from the stove. If Seo Yoon weren’t cooking, Jin was. He loved the activity ever since you taught him how. Soon enough he surpassed her skills, creating mouth-watering dishes. In thanks, she rubbed his dark fox ears. He leaned into your touch, fluffy tail swaying.
"Noona shall I go and wake all the hyung while you get ready? " Jungkook asked.
"Yes kookie that would be really helpful. Tell them all to brush their teeth and come for breakfast. " She said and walked back to her room to get ready for the day. Seo Yoon and Jaehyun had to work hard today. It was an open out patient day and different shelters were bringing their hybrids for checkups. She took a shower and dressed up in jeans and a formal shirt tying her hair in a ponytail her beautiful bangs covering her forehead. She could hear the commotion of the boys from the kitchen. She took her white coat and some files and walked out towards them.
All of them were sitting on the counter eating their food. All the 6 hybrids looked cute in messy hairs and pyjamas while stuffing their mouths with food. She took out your phone and clicked a picture. The sound of the shutter gathering everyone's attention. Despite most of them being younger than her, she insisted on them calling her by her name as she felt really old though Jungkook still called her noona because he always wanted an elder sister.
" Aahh Seo Yoon, you look so pretty. Come join us for breakfast " Hobi said wagging his tail happily. She went to sit with them patting each of their hair as they smiled at her. Yoongi took her in a hug and passed her a travel coffee container filled with her favorite drink which he made each morning for her. She took a sip and groaned in pleasure while everyone laughed at her love for coffee which she shared with Yoongi. " What would I do without you Yoongi oppa. I can hardly work without your coffee. " She said and sat down to eat her breakfast.
*****
After breakfast Jimin went and kept her files and coat inside her car and Jin packed her lunch. She picked her bag and was ready to leave. Namjoon came to her and gave her a hug. It was their thing. Every hybrid hugged her before she went out showing affection. She kissed Joonie's cheeks and then hugged Hobi. Jimin and Jungkook group hugged her nearly trampling her on the floor with so much force and enthusiasm. Yoongi kissed her cheek as she went out to her car where Jin was ready to drive her to the center. He liked driving her and would spend an hr with shelter kids helping around and come back in an hour. His dark green silk scarf which acted as a collar sat perfectly on his neck. Jin dropped her at her office saying goodbye and going towards the shelters behind the building.
Seo Yoon entered her building and was immediately met with the strong smell of hospital which she has grown to call home now. She went to her locker and changed into her scrubs and came to her office which she shared with her best friend Jaehyun who as usual was late as always. 10 minutes later you heard the door open and a panting Jaehyun in his scrubs appeared before you.
"I'm sorry I'm late, before you say anything Seo Yoon, Ik it's third time this week and today we have a busy day ahead of us but what can I do I was watching a drama at night and couldn't get up early because of lack of sleep. " He ranted in a breath going on and on about how the protagonist if the drama was so stupid for not understanding the guy loves her.
She shook her head. " Aeyah!! stop talking Jae before I murder you. One day I'll give you a nice trashing for how casually you take me. " She said with a pout. He laughed at her and hugged her as she melted into giggles. She can never be mad at the kid. He was way too sweet and cute.
Somebody knocked at the door and a nurse appeared. " Dr Kang and Dr Jaehyun, the patients are here. We can start with the day. " She said and left.
******
Jae and Seo Yoon sat at the table and opened their lunches. Jin always packed food for your best friend who loved his food even though Jaehyun himself was an excellent cook.
"I'm coming to your place for the weekend. I really miss the boys. It's been a while. And this week we even have the Saturday off from shelter duty" Jae said with his mouth stuffed. She has lived so much around boys now that it's hard for her to remember what sophisticated people looked like.
"Why don't you just move in with me. You already live at my place nearly all the time when we aren't working" I scoffed. Her place is more or less like an open motel for her friends to stay in whenever they want considering the size of her big real estate. After her father's demise when she inherited his wealth. She decided to make a big place where she can adopt some hybrids and live happily. It had literally all the required materials a person could need to survive in luxury. She really had spoiled all the boys with 24x7 wifi and gaming.
Jaehyun shook his head and laughed at her scowled face. He loved teasing the older girl.
"Why noona that's an excellent idea. I'll have an amazing time with the boys and get free food. " She got up and punched his arm. She absolutely did not liked being called noona.
"I told you not to call me noona or I'll give you a good trashing. " She angrily chewed on her fish.
"Ayee you are biased Seo Yoon, why does jungkook gets to call you noona and all of us don't. " He teased her further.
"Well if you really want an answer he is more cuter, is good at everything, doesn't gives me a headache every 10 minute and definitely isn't a constant pain in my ass. " She said laughing and Jaehyun threw her a dirty look.
*******
When Seo Yoon left the hospital in the evening it was quite late then usual. Jaehyun had left half an hour ago but she stayed looking at the shelter kids who ran around each other enjoying life without a worry. She had a smile on her face and a tear in her eyes as she walked back to her home. She always liked walking back to home and it wasn't an issue as it was a highly safe residential society with great love for people and hybrid. She felt someone's presence behind her and immediately knew who it was.
"Jin oppa you didn't have to come I was on my way. " She said and turned to see a flustered Jin caught following her. He was worried that she was coming home alone so late and thought to accompany her.
"How did you know it was me? Do you have a secret third eye behind your head or something? " He said and took your backpack from you holding your hands firmly.
"Well I have been around you since the beginning. It's easy to feel your presence. It's a girl thing. " She said and looked in the front. They were very close to their home.
A young man clad in black outfit was walking in front of them. He had a slight limp and looked almost drunk from pain. As if he was drowning his sorrows. He was limping towards the other side when he suddenly disappeared from their eye sight.
"Oppa did you see that? " She asked Jin. Jin pulled her behind him and they both walked quietly towards the road crossing. A black van was parked ans the man from earlier was being pushed inside it. He was being abducted. 2 men pushing him inside. Jin quickly rushed towards the van. He pulled the man from the goons hold and layed the now almost unconscious man on the road side. This gave the goons time to flee. Jin was about to go after them when Seo Yoon stopped him.
She immediately knelt beside the man. He wasn't drunk. He was badly injured. His abdomen was bleeding and his legs were tampered. She tried helping him.
He groaned as she touched him to treat his wounds. He immediately backed up at an inhuman speed. This shook both of them.
"He's a hybrid oppa. We need to help him. " Seo Yoon said and Jin immediately called Yoongi to keep first aid ready.
The hybrid's cap fell from his face revealing two soft black cat like ears. His tale was brilliantly tucked in his pants not giving anything away that he wasn't human. He immediately tried fleeing from the human who looked at her with her almost teary eyes but he couldn't. He did not have the strength. He collapsed in her arms his world going black as the last thing he saw was the beautiful face of a teary eyed angel who somehow did not look like she wanted to harm him like other humans.
Seo Yoon was almost gonna cry after seeing the hybrid. He fell in her arms. His life almost slipping away. Jin picked him up and they rushed inside the house towards the guest room. Yoongi and the boys had kept all necessary medical aid that they know Seo Yoon kept for emergency on a table nearby. They were as astonished as the duo seeing how badly injured this hybrid was.
"What happened to you" Seo Yoon wondered out loud.

7: Daddy bento
“(L/n)-san, before you head off to lunch, I need to see you for a moment.” Sekijiro said.
He could briefly see a bit of a scowl you failed to hide before forcing your frown away. From the first week he got to know you from simply teaching the class, he learned that you were terrible at hiding your true feelings, though sometimes it seemed like you weren’t even trying.
He could tell you had a temper, he even seen you getting rough with the other students, especially that silver haired kid, Tetsutetsu. You weren’t directly going after them, in fact, you never really started things. And to make it worse, Tetsutetsu was coming back to you, losing a bit of his temper himself.
Unlike him, however, you were more of a ticking time bomb.
You didn’t go off out of nowhere, and your motives weren’t very predictable. You waited for the person to finish (usually) before striking. You always had a blank but annoyed expression when hurting the ones that mildly inconvenienced you on purpose. And today was worse.
“Yes?” You said in a rather rude tone, earning a raised eyebrow from the teacher.
“...sir.” You corrected.
“I wanted to address your behavior.” The man said simply before pointing to the chair next to his desk.
You rolled your eyes and reluctantly sat down.
“Before you start, Sekijiro-sensei, I just want to note that they started it first.” You said.
Seikijiro sighed and began rubbing his temples.
“Yes. That is true. But that shouldn’t warrant your behavior, (L/n)-san. You need to have better control of yourself, or your actions may lead to dire consequences in the future.” He said in a stern tone.
You looked to the ground, a deep frown evident on your face.
“(L/n)-san... you have a lot of potential. Your physical abilities are outstanding, you take things very seriously in every single test I have given you, and you’ve only been here for a few weeks. I want to help you become one of the greatest heroes of our time, but I need you to work with me here.” He said, this time in a softer tone.
“...ok.” You said.
He leaned back in his chair with a long exhale before continuing.
“If your behavior continues, I will have to have you do counseling, understood?”
“Yes sir.” You said and got up, ready to leave the classroom before the man stopped you.
“Oh, before you go, you’ll have to do some tutoring as well.”
This caught you off guard, to say the least. Before you could ask him what he meant, he spoke once more.
“Although you are passing, you are barely. Out of everyone here, you have the lowest grades, specifically in math. The other subjects have acceptable grades, but I know you can do better.” He said.
“Meet me after school in class, we’ll discuss more.”
And with that, he dismissed you, finally letting you leave the classroom. You opened the door, wanting nothing more than to eat after losing your egg sandwich that morning before walking head first into somebody’s chest.
At first, you thought it was a tall woman, seeing that your face was met with big tits, until you backed away to find two blonde hairs sticking up like rabbit ears.
“All Might.” You said.
The man flashed you a surprised look, smile crooked and nervous.
“Oh, hello there! I’m just passing by, wanted to talk to your teacher!”
You cocked an eyebrow at the blonde before moving to the side to leave.
“Yeah, he’s in there.” You said with a flat tone.
Once again, you left the blonde man to stand awkwardly in a hallway.
“Class 1A is getting a lot of attention lately.”
“Yeah? What’s so good about them anyway?”
“They must have done something so amazing that it got people’s attention.” Someone whispered in a sarcastic tone.
“Like surviving an attack?” You said out loud, drawing the attention of others, including class 1A, who were being blocked by the large group of students.
This whole day wasn’t going your way at all, first you lost your egg sandwich, and then you had to be forced into tutoring by your homeroom teacher. What especially didn’t improve your mood was the rumors of class 1A.
And now look where those rumors led people. In the middle of the hallway, blocking your path in front of class 1A. You had tutoring to go to, and they were not fucking helping.
“They were attacked by villains. They could have died, their teacher had injuries all over him. The fact that they made it out alive without wounds is a miracle.”
A familiar face turned toward you with a mild scowl.
“That doesn’t give them the right to treat the rest of us like garbage.” Shinsou said.
“When did they say anything? What did they do to insinuate that everyone else was trash.” You said.
A student next to you butted in nervously, rubbing his arm.
“W-well that blonde guy-“
“The blonde guy?” You interrupted.
The student looked at you startled, but you continued.
“What about that girl behind him? Did she say something?”
“Uh-“
“And four eyes? He doesn’t look like one to cuss a storm, hell, he looks like he would faint at the word ‘vagina’.”
The said blue haired teen flustered at the word and was about to scold you before Midoriya grabbed his arm, shaking his head.
“Did anyone else say anything.” You said to the crowd.
Everyone else looked toward each other, some looking down while others looked to Shinsou and the class with guilt.
“No? Just the blonde? I mean, wow, if the blonde is an asshole, that must mean everyone else in this goddamn school are stuck up pricks.” You spat their logic back into their faces, earning some grimaces.
“Let me remind you that they could have died. Their parents could have had the bodies of their children sent home to them. Siblings would have lost a brother or sister. A friend would have had to watch their friend be lowered in their grave. They’re still kids. We all are. So get your heads out of your own asses and move.” You said before shoving through the crowd of embarrassed and ashamed students.
After a whole day of missing breakfast and only getting a few bites of lunch, you were starving, cranky, and all around just not having a good day.
You met your homeroom teacher in class 1B. To say you were embarrassed was an understatement. Although you hid your embarrassment well, you still stood awkwardly in the door. You knew you were the only one getting tutoring out of everyone else.
Why did you have to be so dumb???
“You’re not dumb.”
Shit, you must have said that out loud! Sekijiro-sensei gestured to a seat and stood up from his to approach you.
“People have different ways of learning, and yours isn’t through reading a textbook.” He said.
“I am observant, and I’ve seen you reading textbooks when there’s nothing to do. I’ve seen you struggling to focus as well.”
You looked down at the desk you were sitting in, quietly trying to chip away the edge. Your face twisted into what he could tell was a saddened frown, much different from the usual scowls you gave people. It was obvious that it bothered you to no end that you got almost nothing out of reading. His own expression softened a bit once seeing you crack a bit before sitting down in the seat next to you.
“It’s nothing to be ashamed of. I’ll admit that I struggled with reading when I was your age. Sometimes I still do have problems today.”
You slowly lifted your head and gave him a side glance. He clearly got your attention that time. Knowing that he was able to connect with you further, he began speaking more before something low and guttural resounded within the room.
You froze immediately and turned your head away from him, clearly embarrassed by your organ angrily rumbling at you for food.
The man paused at this before getting up and walking towards his desk. He grabbed a white container and placed it in front of you before sitting back in the desk next to you. You stared at the bento in front of you and then to your teacher.
“Sekijiro-sensei...?”
“Go ahead and eat, kid. You clearly need it after today.” He said before his eyes widened.
“Unless you’re allergic to certain foods...”
You muttered out a no and looked back down at the bento.
“Go ahead, I already ate lunch, that was for later tonight.” He said.
You still hesitated before opening it, being met with a delightful sight. Grilled fish, fried brown rice with vegetables inside, and other greens. You slowly grabbed the chop sticks and looked back to the man, who nodded at you to eat what was in front of you.
And you did just that. At first, you slowly picked at certain foods inside the bento before eating in a more comfortable pace. Sekijiro could see that you were still tense, afraid almost, but he waved it off in his mind.
“...you’re wife did a good job.” You said after finishing.
“I made that myself actually. I don’t have a wife.”
You looked over at the man with surprised look before covering it up and placing the chopsticks across the bento politely.
“Thank you, sir.”
The man flashed you a smile and said that it was no problem before getting up and grabbing a piece of paper, your failed math assignment, and began going over it with you.

Gotta love blood daddy.

The ‘dreaded swimsuit season’ is coming up, and that means people are going to be obsessing about food and exercise and losing calories.  First of all, I’m not a medical professional nor a nutritionist nor a physical therapist etc, so definitely consult with the appropriate personnel...but I cannot stress strongly enough, you must consult with non-fatphobic medical personnel.
Fatphobia kills people of all bodyweights, and this blog does not support fatphobia, especially medical fatphobia.
Now, with that said...if you want to be healthy, there are plenty of non-fatphobic things you can do about it.  And the biggest things you need to know about how to go about it are: understanding your metabolism, understanding how muscles can affect your metabolism, and understanding how diet (foods, not fatphobia industry) can affect your metabolism.
Given all the fat-shaming bullshit thrown about in the so-called “Health Industry,” it sounds counterintuitive, but you actually need to eat more in order to lose weight.  You need to teach your body that it’s not in starvation mode anymore, that it has plenty of calories and nutrients...and just start moving more.  Not necessarily exercising more, but moving more.
2,000-2,500 calories a day is the range for a “normal” body-weight-and-size person.  However, the more exercise you do, the more muscles you have, or simply the bigger a person you are (the more cells you have), the more calories you need.  Unless you’re seriously short & skinny, a 1,500 calorie meal is a starvation meal, and that will put your body into “OMFG SAVE ALL THE CALORIES AS FAT!!” mode.
Literally, a toddler’s caloric needs are 1,100, and they range from 20-35 pounds.  You’re several times that much.  This doesn’t mean that if you weigh 175 pounds that  you need to eat at least 5 times as many calories, however!  In truth, you only need about double that, because a toddler’s metabolism is geared toward growing, whereas an adult’s metabolism is geared toward maintaining.
The best way to understand this is to realize your metabolism can be divided into 4 categories.
Your Resting Metabolic Rate is simply the amount of calories needed to keep you breathing, your blood pumping, your organs functioning.  That’s 60%-75% of your caloric intake. You have your Thermic Effect of Food, which is another 10%, literally the energy it takes to chew and swallow and digest food & drinks, and then to excrete the leftover bathroom waste. The remaining two types of calorie burning are Non-Exercise Activity Thermogensis, and Activity Thermogenesis.  Of those lattermost two, your body actually burns more of the Non-Exercise calories than the Active Exercise calories...and it is designed to burn more when simply moving.
Literally, just moving a bit more than you usually do in a typical day will burn calories effectively.  Move around the house on every commercial break, stand up and sit down more often, change your position more frequently, raise and lower your arms, gently swing or kick your legs...just move more.  When they say 30 minutes of (gentle) exercise a day, this is exactly what they are talking about.  You don’t need weights, you don’t need machinery, you don’t need a gym membership.  Just move.  It’ll be a gradual process, but so long as you’re eating foods with plenty of fiber as well as other food types, you’ll feel full and won’t feel starved.
Now, if you want to burn calories even faster through vigorous exercise, you can do that, too...but again you need to use your metabolism.  Make sure you’re not starving, because your body will go into a panic attack thinking you’re not only starving but are being chased by bears and will need plenty of fat to survive while you’re unable to gather food, etc because zomg you’re being chased by bears!!1!  (Truly, the metabolism is a primitive/primal minded thing based upon hundreds of thousands of years of hunter-gatherer lifestyles, and does not comprehend modern life at all.)
And then, what do you do to burn more calories?  You build muscles.  Muscles burn a lot of calories.  Not just through using said muscles in excercise, but muscles will burn through calories even while simply resting.  The more muscles you have, the more calories your body will burn.
How do you build muscles?  Well, there are two types of muscles, which while it sounds cannibalistic, we’ll call white meat and dark meat, because it’s the easiest mnemonic to remember.  White meat (think breast meat on a chicken) is designed for strong but brief actions...and men have more white meat muscles than females, though obviously they have both kinds.  That brief sprint towards a prey animal, the thrust of a spear into its body, aaaand done.
Dark meat muscles are meant for lower-strength repetitive actions.  Walking around reaching up or stooping down or digging while gathering plants, with no need to rush and plenty of opportunities to rest.  Chasing after young children.  Weaving baskets, scraping and tanning hides into furs and leathers, cooking...these are tasks that require little to moderate amounts of strength, but most important, repeated movements.  Women tend to have more dark meat muscles than men, though obviously they have both kinds.
(The reasons why wild ducks, partridges, grouse, etc, all have dark meat breast muscles is because they use those muscles to fly long distances. Chickens evolved from jungle-floor hunt-and-peck birds that mostly flew only short distances to get away from predators by flying up to the nearest tree branches, so they literally just needed a burst of strong energy over a short period of time, hence white meat muscles.)
Which type is better?  Both, ideally, because they are useful in a variety of different ways.  Which is better for burning calories?  Ideally both, but it doesn’t really matter.  All you need to do is build muscles.
As for how to do that...you know how you feel when you exercise until you are sore?  That’s what you need to do.  This is where weights and machines and treadmills do come in handy, but still aren’t necessary, since you can lift and lower objects around your home, and get exercise bands or surgical tubing for resistance training, and go for longer walks, etc.
The object is to (gently!) push your body to the point where your muscles are sore.  You can do this by lifting weights for a few repetitions near your limit (use a spotter & practice safe lifting skills!!), which is a white meat muscle activity, or you can use lesser weights or resistance machinery (surgical tubing counts), but just do it more, which is dark meat muscle activity.
You can also do the “step down” method of weight training or resistance training, by starting near your limit, going until your muscles burn, then resting a few minutes while gently shaking out, massaging, or relaxing the muscles in question to help move the lactic acid out of your muscle tissues, along with hydrating. Then you “step down” the amount of weight (say by 20%-30%) and doing another set of reps (repetition movements) until again it’s a struggle, then another few minutes of rest, hydration, etc, before stepping down again, doing some reps...and then again when it’s at the lightest you can for as long as you can, then rest that muscle group.
Regardless of which way you weight/resistance train, take a full 48 hours off.  Or as close to 48 as you manage--weight train 3 times a week, and then take up to 72 hours (three days) off so your body can fully recover.  You can still exercise, but do not use weights or resistance machinery/rubber bands, etc.
Let your muscles use that 48 hours to heal, and eat more protein sources to help your body build more muscle strength, along with a variety of nutrients to get the right kinds of micronutrients.  Again, I must emphasize: Do not starve your body.  It will go into fat-storage mode and will only barely repair your muscles, nevermind build them bigger.
The goal is to build more muscle tissue.  if you are hungrier than usual, eat more.  Your body will tell you what it needs if you listen, and there are plenty of charts out there with “if you are craving X,Y, or Z, then try eating healthier foods A,B,C, D, E, or F!” and they’re actually not inaccurate...but it is okay to have the “less healthy” foods in moderation, same as in everything you eat.
But seriously, up your protein intake, which is what your body needs to build bigger muscles.  The average (again, your needs may be more) person needs about 4 ounces (115 grams) of protein per meal, so you can shoot for more than that.  And get your proteins from a variety of sources.  Humans can manufacture a good number of amino acids (the building blocks of proteins), but we cannot synthesize 9 of them, the “9 essential amino acids.”
These 9 essential amino acids are: histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine.   Foods that contain all nine essential acids are called complete proteins. These include eggs, fish, beef, pork, poultry, and whole sources of soy (tofu, edamame, tempeh, and miso).
While plant proteins have lower essential amino acid contents when compared to animal proteins, they will also have different ratios of the various amio acids compared to most animal-based proteins.  This is something that vegetarians and vegans need to keep in mind.
Some plant-based foods can be combined together to complement and/or supplement.  “Rice & beans” is one such combination.  Basically, you combine a grain (in this case rice) with a pulse (legumes, like beans, or peas, etc).  Here in America, in Mexican restaurants, a serving of refried beans and Spanish rice (seasoned with tomatoes & spices) is often automatically included as a side for most dishes.  This provides a great deal of carbohydrates, but it also provides a more or less “complete protein” set of those essential amino acids.
Corn, beans, and squash plants do the same thing, providing a complete protein when combined together, as well as plenty of carbs.  These three plant types are the “Three Sisters” of indigenous North Americans.  They are best when planted together, the corn providing a trellis for the beans to grow upon, the squashes spreading out across the field to smother competing weeds, and together they feed people reasonably well.
However, they are still more carb-heavy than protein-heavy, which means vegetarians need to rely upon other sources such as nuts, plus eggs, dairy, and/or fish (if pisco-lacto-ovarian vegetarians).  Vegans in particular need to be extra careful.  Yes, peanuts have a lot of proteins compared to their carbs, same with almonds, etc, so definitely add nuts to your diets!  But just be aware that you’re going to need to be a lot more conscious of your protein types & sources--and make sure to get a variety of sources--if you’re trying to build muscles while on a vegetarian or especially on a vegan diet.  A purely plant-based diet will not have nearly as balanced a set of amino acids as what animal-inclusive diets can contain.
If you’re lacto-ovarian, this is made easier because milk, cheese, and eggs are wonderful foods with a lot of nutritional value.  If you eat fish as well, even better, full proteins in fish as well as in egg whites, etc...but that brings me to another caveat, because you should probably eat the egg yolks as well as the egg whites.
Do not skip out on fats.  Unless you have a genuine doctor-ordered medical reason, do not cut all fats out of your diet.  Your brain needs fats in order to function.  And just as with amino acids in various protein sources, there are different types of fats as well that our bodies need in different amounts for different reasons.  This isn’t to say you should chow down on the equivalent of a full stick of butter (1/2 cup, 65 grams) with each meal (unless you’re camping outdoors in winter in the far north or a mountain, because then you need fat in your diet for your body to literally burn to help keep you warm).
It’s just that you don’t want to go completely fat free...because if you do, your metabolism will go into panic mode in its primitive/primal-minded way, “ZOMG IT’S LATE WINTER/EARLY SPRING AND NOTHING HAS ANY FATS IN IT WE’RE ALL GONNA STAAAAAARRRVEEE!!” Your metabolism will start turning carbs and even proteins into fats in an effort to ensure your brain (along with other vital organs) will have enough fats to keep functioning.  So go ahead and put some butter on your toast.  Even better, put some nutbutter on your toast, since sunflower butter, peanut butter, almond butter, all those things have proteins and fats as well as carbs.
Also, your body actually does need cholesterol to function, but only in smaller amounts than you’d think.  HOWEVER, if it doesn’t get enough of the right types of cholesterol through diet, your body will make its own cholesterol, and will make more than you need, out of carbohydrates.  (Yeah, this one was a shocker to me when I learned about it, and the answer blew my mind.  Seriously, our body will make up to 10x as much cholesterol as we need if we don’t eat it, so it’s best if we do eat it.)
So how much does an average person need to consume of these critical cholesterols that it absolutely needs?  ...About 1-2 egg yolks a day (or comparable alternative sources; vegans, do some research on alternatives, or just accept that your body may try to overproduce certain cholesterols if it’s feeling nutrition-starved).  Seriously.  Just that much is enough. (Again, your needs may vary based on your body size, metabolic rate, and/or environment.)
So.  Put it all together, and you have:  1. Eat a variety of foods in sufficient quantities and qualities (fats and proteins included) to ensure your body stays healthy; 2. exercise just enough to push your muscles into feeling sore; 3. Rest 48 hours while eating a bit more protein to help your body repair and build bigger muscles; 4. Lather-rinse-repeat... and you’ll eventually get bigger muscles that burn more calories simply by existing, as well as whenever you use them to move just a bit more than you normally would.
Dark meat muscles burn more calories when at rest because they’re designed that way, because they’re small effort but frequent use with multiple short rests, lots of blood flowing through them, and thus are more metabolically “charged” than white meat muscles.  However, white meat muscles tend to be the largest muscles, and thus while not designed to burn calories as efficiently while at rest compared to dark meat muscles...they actually end up burning about the same through sheer volume.
Work on improving your muscles, move a bit more every day, eat more conscientously but not through the heavily warped fearmongering lens of the Diet Industry’s blather and/or tactics, and you will be healthy enough to go to the beach and enjoy it.  Not because you’ll have lost weight, but because you will be healthier.  (Fun fact: muscles are denser and heavier than fat, so you could literally lose inches while gaining pounds from your body burning the fat with its now increased muscle mass.)
And yes, you can weigh 260 pounds and still be healthier than someone who weighs 160.
In other words, if you have a body, and you go to the beach with it, you now have a beach body.
You’ll just be less likely to get out of breath while swimming or building sand castles or playing volleyball or whatever if you’ve upped your exercise levels between now and then.
Also:  CONTINUE TO WEAR A MASK IN PUBLIC.
Get one that matches your swimwear, or makes you feel silly & fun.  Even if everyone started wearing their masks (not going to happen, but one can dream), it will to take us all of 2021 to quell the pandemic...and because people won’t be wearing their masks, keep wearing that mask.  Yes, even if you have had all your shots.  Because people aren’t wearing masks, the virus is able to spread, and when it spreads, there’s always a chance it will mutate, and cause new strains of infections...which it already has.  So wear your damn mask.

i will see you where the shadow ends | chapter 5
[see notes for ao3 and ff links]
part of the put your faith in the light that you cannot see series AU: Breath of the Wild pairing: KiriBaku word count: 6,400
chapter 5: i will hold on hope, and i won’t let you choke on the noose around your neck
Eijiro wakes the next morning to Inko having laid out two simple white shirts and a pair of trousers for him—he can tell as soon as he runs his fingers over the shirts that unlike what he’s wearing now, they’re made of soft and comfortable material. It feels sturdier, too, but that may just be because anything’s bound to feel sturdier than clothes left to rot for a hundred years. Beside them are a padded doublet, clearly designed for warmth, and a pair of thick gloves.
He looks up to see Inko humming as she merrily gathers food for breakfast—eggs and rice. He’s relieved to see she looks none the worse for the wear after losing out on her bed for the night.
“Where did you get these?” he asks, curiously. It’s… not exactly like there are any merchants or tailors able to get up onto the plateau. Inko hums, distracted, before she glances up and seems to remember what he’s talking about, and a bright smile crosses her face.
“They’re old. They were all too big for me, so I took some time last night to tailor the shirts and trousers to something I thought might fit you better.”
“Oh,” he says, looking down at them. He’s focusing real hard on not having a repeat of yesterday—he’s so immensely thankful, but he’s gonna try not to get emotional about it. Well, too emotional about it. Well, okay, he’s already really emotional about it, but he can at least try to not get choked up. “I—thank, you, so much, I really don’t know how I can—”
“If I hear another word about repayment out of you,” she scolds teasingly, but Eijiro can tell she doesn’t have any sort of threat to actually finish the sentence. Still, he gets the message, laughing softly.
“Okay, okay,” he relents, “I just—I really do appreciate it.”
She knows, of course. He’s just glad he’s said it enough to make it clear.
After they finish the omurice Inko’s made, the two of them both get ready for the day. Eijiro’s got a few plans, but his main priority is finding somewhere private and getting this scratchy hell shirt off of himself.
As Inko’s tugging on her boots, she makes a face, more confused than bothered. She pulls the offending boot back off, turning it upside down and giving it a shake, and a familiar-looking seed comes clattering out onto the stone floor. Inko doesn’t pay it any mind, but Eijiro blinks.
“Is that a Korok seed?” he asks, thinking of the five he's collected so far. He hasn’t seen any seeds just loose before—they’ve all come directly from the hands of a tiny forest spirit, delighted to have been found in their odd little hiding spot.
“Hm?” Her tone is distracted, but when she follows his gaze realization crosses her face. “Oh, yes.”
“You see them?” He’d thought—the first Korok he’d met seemed so surprised when he’d seen him. Eijiro thought most people couldn’t…?
“Oh, no, not very often,” Inko replies as she pulls on her other boot and stands, straightening her clothes out. “I think they have more fun playing their games and causing mischief if they keep themselves hidden. But they do seem to like me an awful lot; they’re always leaving me funny little gifts. The seeds only started about a week ago. Why, would you like it?”
Huh. She talks so casually about it, like she has no idea how out of the ordinary it is. Of course, he thinks if he were a Korok, he’d probably think Inko was great, too, but still. It’s a little odd, but it doesn’t take much of his focus as they both carry on with their day. He’s in too much of a rush to find someplace to change to dwell on it.
The verdict when Eijiro does find a more secluded area and get into the new clothes is oh, thank the gods, this is so much better, holy shit. His pants actually reach his ankles. The plain, undyed shirts she’s given him are probably better suited to being undershirts, worn under a tunic or something, but they’re so much better than something itchy and falling apart at the seams.
He might burn the old one, honestly. Or he guesses he could keep it as a rag. Cutting it up could be cathartic.
With that out of the way, Inko had suggested he try fishing, and he at least wants to make sure he leaves her something to have for lunch before he spends all day hiking up cliffs and mountains and undertaking trials. He knows Inko has banned all talk of paying her back, but he figures this is the easiest and sneakiest way to make sure she gets something for her troubles.
He’s just a little proud of how crafty he feels, concocting this plan.
Eijiro finds himself aware of three different facts by the time he’s returning to Inko’s house with two freshly-caught Hyrule bass in hand, and he’s not sure how many of them should have already been obvious.
One—Koroks really are absolutely, ridiculously everywhere. He accidentally found one in the water while he was fishing, and there’s even one hiding out on top of Inko’s house. She must not have been wrong when she said they liked her. He’s genuinely not sure how it took him so long to start running into them yesterday, because it feels like he’s stumbling into one every other step now.
Two—the longer he spends around the plateau, the more he’s forced to realize… there’s something odd about Inko. Like, really odd.
For one, she’s everywhere. Almost every time he’s turned around on this plateau since yesterday, she’s been there. Every time he’s been anywhere near the campfire outside the Shrine of Resurrection, she’s been at the campfire. Every time he’s been anywhere near her house, she’s at her house. When he raised the tower, suddenly she was at the tower. When he did his first shrine trial, she was at the shrine. She pops out of nowhere sometimes, and more than once he’s thought she moved awfully quick for her age.
Then there’s the odd amount of information she knows—and that’s just including what she’s told him. She’d said she didn’t know much about Sheikah buildings, but she’d seemed to know that his slate had been what activated the tower—and then she’d pulled out all sorts of information on his slate, too. And fast travel! She’d also been able to tell him the shrine only started glowing at the same moment the tower had risen, but she’d come from the opposite direction of the shrine.
And there was the day before, too… she’d been so frazzled as soon as he was going to the shrine surrounded by the old machines, and just as much so afterwards. Like she’d known what he was going to run into—why else would she be so scared for him with that shrine, but not the other?
He thinks maybe he’s just being paranoid, like when he’d jumped to the conclusion that he’s dead, or been fully convinced he’d gotten possessed, but he can’t shake the feeling that there might just be more to Inko than she’s admitting. It’s not like it matters, though—he can’t mistrust her, even if it is true. She’s done too much to help for him to ever be able to believe she could be untrustworthy.
And three—his little scheme to repay Inko right under her nose was doomed from the start.
He was going to just leave her the fish and go forage something for himself that he won’t have to cook to take up the mountain, but the second he offers her the fish, she puts him to work. She’s not letting him go up the peaks at the southern end of the plateau unprepared, she informs him very adamantly, and so instead she takes the next hour and then some to walk him through the recipe and cooking processes of several more dishes.
She tells him all about how when spicy peppers are cooked right, they make the body run warmer—and makes sure he sees how she does it when she cooks them into a meat and seafood fry with the last of the fox meat from last night, and an abundance of seafood rice balls. She wraps them all carefully in parcels made of paper, to keep them until he needs to eat them.
He’s a little afraid his mouth won’t survive the dishes, with all those peppers cooked in, but she swears that between them and the warm doublet and gloves she’d given him, he’ll be comfortable for as long as he has to spend on the snow-covered cliffs. He’s grateful, but he’s also been foiled as she uses all of the food that he’d meant for her to help him.
He’s going to do something nice for her to make up for this all, he’s really going to. Eventually he’ll find an act of kindness she can’t counter!
As much as he wishes he’d been able to get away with his little plot, he’s barely five minutes up the path behind the Temple of Time before he’s so glad for the spicy dishes. The padded doublet she’d given him didn’t cover his arms, but he thought he’d been smart about accounting for that—as much at it had pained him, he’d put his first, awful, itchy shirt back on and then layered both of his new shirts over it.
Unfortunately, the layers only did so much, and he could feel the wind whipping through them and biting at his arms. But Inko had had his back—so he’d pulled out the meat and seafood fry, torn the paper back, and gone to town on the meal as he walked along the riverbank.
Yes, his mouth was absolutely on fire like he’d feared, and he might be crying, like, just a little bit, but he’s sweating within minutes. He’d be kept warm as long as he hurried and was smart about rationing the food, exactly as she’s promised. If that came at the expense of looking ridiculous as he walked along with his mouth wide open in hopes the frigid air would soothe his burning mouth, then so be it.
When he reaches the bridge he’d seen on the map, he has a problem. He hadn’t noticed that the bridge is collapsed—the supports are all still there, but most of the planks on his side of the river have fallen through. He spends just enough time despairing over the prospect of having to go all the way back to try and go around the river the other way to feel frustration welling up intensely, but then, of course, he remembers.
He can fucking do magic now. He had to walk past the giant, ruined metal doors of a collapsed gate just beside this bridge to even inspect the damage—after the hour and a half he’d spent puzzling out every potential creative usage of the magnesis rune in the shrine yesterday, he can’t believe it takes him as long as five minutes to think of laying the two massive doors over the gaps in the bridge.
It’s not the neatest job, or the most stable, but it gets him across safely enough. He does allow himself to be a little proud of his problem solving.
He’s all over the southern side of the plateau for the next few hours. The worst of his difficulties are over after the bridge, and the path to both shrines are mostly straightforward apart from a couple of surprise Koroks—seriously, even in the cold, high altitudes? They’re forest spirits, where’s the forest here?—and a handful of monster camps.
At Keh Namut Shrine, Eijiro spends over an hour figuring out all the applications of the cryonis rune—which allows him to make solid pillars of ice erupt out of any source of water. Even if his water source is shallow, barely ankle-deep, the pillars are always at least eight feet tall, and the great blocks of ice will even erupt sideways out of waterfalls. This… he thinks this one might be the most useful yet.
He can use it for a vantage point, for cover, to get to things out of his reach, to lift things out of the water, as stepping stones or bridges… and, if Inko’s idea to get him off the plateau doesn’t work, he might just be able to use it to hop down the waterfall that spills off the plateau, pillar by pillar.
He finally feels like he’s made tangible progress.
Owa Daim Shrine, across the plateau, isn’t so simple to reach. He’s left with only one spicy seafood rice ball by the time he’s painstakingly scaling down to where the shrine rests, halfway up the cliffside, but he’s relieved at least that the temperature becomes more bearable on its own the lower he goes. He can save the rice ball for the return trip and move quickly.
Inside the shrine, the pattern holds, and he’s gifted another rune: the stasis rune. The description the slate gives him of this rune takes longer for him to puzzle out than the others—it uses phrases like ‘storing kinetic energy’ and ‘stopping an object in time’, the first phrase confusing him for lack of surety at its meaning, the second confusing him for lack of ability to visualize its possibility.
Thankfully, the trial the shrine offers, just like the others, is nothing if not a perfect set of puzzles to allow him to figure it out. The rune has a wide range of uses—securing safe passageways from moving or unstable objects, halting oncoming projectiles and other dangers, and making temporarily immovable obstacles for others to traverse, to name the ones he grasps quickest.
The most important use, however, is the one where the stored energy comes into play—it takes him a little to work it out, but once he does, he’s able to send even the most giant of obstacles flying out of his path. And to use them as projectiles. Even large, heavy stones can be moved by something as insignificant as arrows shot from a distance, as long as he hits it with enough of them for the force to compound. It’s awesome, and it gives him the same giddy delight that the magnesis rune had.
When the last of the monks hidden away in the shrines on this plateau fades to nothing, Eijiro can’t really deny that this spirit thing they keep doing to him is really getting to him. He might not be possessed, sure, but the bizarre feeling that’s overtaken him after each ‘gift’ has only gotten stronger with each instance, and it’s not fading.
There’s—something, he’s not sure, an energy maybe, that feels like it’s thrumming under his skin and the sensation is so unsettling. It’s supposed to be the strength of their spirits, or whatever they’d said, but he doesn’t feel stronger, necessarily, just—just—just very noticeably affected!
He can feel whatever it is and it’s distracting. He’s not sure how it’s supposed to help him.
It’s late afternoon by the time Eijiro emerges from the entrance to the shrine, and he’s confronted with the obvious evidence that his most worrisome of theories is true. Inko is not a normal old woman; can’t be.
She can’t be, because there she stands, on the wide ledge that houses Owa Daim Shrine, and there’s just no way a simple old woman could be here. There’s no possible explanation for it. She’d either have had to cross a wide chasm behind her house and then scale the cliffside up to reach him, or hiked the unforgiving eastern slopes of the plateau and then scaled the cliffside down. Neither is a reasonable task for a woman of her age.
So—so there it is, then. He knows now. There’s something odd about Inko, something she’s been keeping from him about her nature. He’s obviously not so surprised as he could be, but it’s still—it’s still—hard to process that the woman who’s helped him so much has been lying to him. All he can manage is a quiet, “Oh.”
“Hello, Eijiro,” she greets him, but her heart is clearly not entirely in it. There’s something in her tone—she obviously knows as well as he does that this marks the end of—of whatever simple and easy experience they’ve been having together so far. A change is coming whether she chooses to explain what she’s been hiding or not, and they both understand that.
“So, you’ve finally explored all the plateau’s shrines,” she notes, a gentle and rueful smile just barely touching at her features. Eijiro can only nod as he shuffles his feet, watching her with equal parts expectation and dread. “You worked hard to reach them all. I’m so proud of you.”
“Thanks,” he manages, tone barely audible.
Inko sighs. “That means it’s time, I think, to finally give you an explanation. I can’t keep shielding you from the worst of it forever, and I think you’ve more than earned the right to hear… well, everything.”
Eijiro doesn’t know how to respond, there’s too much going through his mind—he opens his mouth to say—to ask—something, anything to grant him some clarification, but the words get caught in his throat. He stands there with his mouth opened somewhat helplessly, but it seems Inko wasn’t intending to wait for a response.
“Meet me at the temple of time,” she requests gently. “I’ll be waiting for you there, and I’ll tell you everything you need to know.”
“Why—” There’s so many questions he needs to ask that all start with that word, that they all tumble over each other before he can sort them out, but the most pressing of them is, of course, why can’t you explain it here? He wants to ask, but Inko smiles apologetically, and she—
—she just fades.
It startles him, when he suddenly realizes that he can see through her, just a little bit—and then just a little bit more, and then all at once he almost yelps as she starts to glow and eerie flames spring up around her. It’s not like watching the monks turn into motes of light that disperse up and away; she stays in one piece, but the light emanating off of her and the color of the flames hovering near to her are the same otherworldly blue-green glow.
Shaken, Eijiro stares blankly at the spot where she disappears for a few moments after she’s gone, before slowly he sinks down to sit on the surface of the shrine. It’s only a minute, that’s all he needs, but—but he closes his eyes and uses all of that minute to try and process, and work through as much of what he’s seen since awakening as he can.
The temple somehow seems more daunting when he emerges onto the path that leads from it, rubbing at his arms.
He takes a steadying breath, eyeing the decayed machines that dot the front of the structure around its entrance, and then shifts his gaze to the side of the building instead. On the side facing him, one of the massive, soaring windows that reach the entire height of the temple is empty—both of glass and the metal bars that make up the decoration and frame of the other windows.
The temple is huge, so with the window being one of the ones nearest to the back of the structure, it’s a good distance away from the closest machine. And Inko hadn’t said he had to come in the front door of the structure, so—he doesn’t feel any shame in beelining towards the window, hoisting himself up, and toppling with at least some amount of grace into the sweeping structure.
The space is incredibly open—not just due to the high, vaulted ceiling or the lack of walls in the giant structure, but because a massive hole has been ripped out of almost the entire front half of the opposite side of the building. He only barely notices that, though, because the feature that claims his attention—nearly all of it—
—is a stylized, towering winged statue of Bakusatsuo that dominates the space. It’s stationed to his right, against the back wall of the temple, and it must be fifteen feet tall, at least. And it’s glowing. Faint, iridescent light seems to be shining straight up from the bottom and Eijiro just… is drawn to it.
He hasn’t even looked around for Inko yet, but his feet carry him towards the figure without him really having to think about it. It’s a crude and simple likeness of the god in the way all the shrines to him across the country are, not proportioned in such a way as to actually resemble a real being, and the statue’s hands are spread out to its sides, palms up. The expression isn’t incredibly detailed, but Eijiro thinks most people would see it as calm, if not quite serene. But Eijiro—he swears its eyes follow him as he approaches, and he would swear the look carved into its face was almost tender.
He climbs the steps that lead up to the statue and instinctively drops to one knee before it, though he doesn’t bow his head in prayer. He keeps his eyes upturned to meet the figure’s gaze as the faint light at its feet seems to flare, almost like it’s reaching for him, and Eijiro swears he feels something like fondness radiating off of the statue, towards him.
You’ve done well, comes a faint whisper at the edge of his mind, and it—it sounds so much like the voice in Hyrule Castle. It’s so similar but—but it’s not quite the same, and Eijiro feels his jaw drop.
A warmth settles over him that somehow feels like the voice sounds, and that bizarre energy he’s felt humming under his skin finally dissipates. It’s not exactly like it goes away, more like it—like it finally settles, almost. It feels like the strange force that’s been lingering there finally seeps into him fully, and finally feels like it’s part of him. He realizes, when it finally happens, that he does feel stronger. Heartier, like Inko had said. Some of the aches and soreness that have built up in the past couple of days fade, just a little, as he stares at the statue in awe.
Go, and bring peace to Hyrule…
Like that, the glowing fades, and Eijiro almost feels like he imagined it all. That’s… he’s pretty sure Bakusatsuo just spoke to him. The god. The patron god of Hyrule. Beloved of the Three Goddesses and protector of the entire realm, and he’d spoken to Eijiro. With clear affection in his tone. It’s… unreal.
“Eijiro!” Inko’s voice hails him, startling him out of his moment of shock. He stands, the motion stiff with his distraction, and it takes him a few moments to locate her once he’s turned around. Of all the places to spot her, it turns out she’s peering down at him through the gaping hole in the partially collapsed roof.
“You’ll have to meet me up here, I’m afraid,” she calls down to him, before both her luminous figure and the tongues of blue-green fire that hover around her retreat out of his sight.
Eijiro stares at the spot he’d last seen her and he gives a shaky sigh. He doesn’t know what’s coming, but he wants to, very badly. So he’s going to find out.
There’s a ladder that runs the height of the building.
Even though it stands just beside the collapsed temple wall—on the far end from the machines, thankfully—it remains intact. Stable, even, though he figures out about a third of the way up that he needs to let his dragonscales overtake his hands if he doesn’t want to get splinters.
Inko is visible immediately from across the definitely unsound and precarious roof, waiting in the tower of the steeple at the front of the temple, still emitting that eerie light.
Balancing his way across the peak of the roof, he pulls himself up the rubble into the steeple to meet her, and despite having all this time to figure out where to begin, he’s—he’s still at a loss for words. Inko seems nearly as unsure how to start as he is—or simply reluctant. Either way, she heaves a mild sigh and attempts a sad smile.
“You’ve done so well since waking up, Kirishima Eijiro. I hope you know that,” she says, voice emphatic if a little quiet and somber. He startles at the full name—it’s—he hadn’t even given thought to whether Eijiro was his given or family name, let alone what the rest of his name might be. He’s had so much else on his mind. And this whole time—this whole time, Inko has known it? And not said anything?
“You don’t know me,” she continues with her eyes downcast. “At least—not very well, my son only brought you around a few times, and we never really spoke. But my name is Midoriya Inko. You should know, Eijiro—I know I’ve told you some, but the kingdom is not like it was when you entered your slumber. The Kingdom of Hyrule… it doesn’t exist anymore.”
Eijiro swallows, but he nods when her eyes flick up to gauge his reaction. The ruins everywhere—the monstrosity enshrouding the castle—the scarcity in meeting or even seeing other people—it all points to the same conclusion. He doesn’t remember much—anything, really. He can’t say if he’s ever been to any of the ruins that dot the landscape as far as the eye can see, can’t say if he ever knew anyone that lived in any of them—but he can say that he knows, knows deeply and inherently the wrongness of it all, to see or even think about.
The kingdom, or lack of it, isn’t how he’d remember if he could, and he knows that.
As Inko speaks, a transformation seems to come over her—she looks the same, and yet, there appears another version of her like a second image overlaid atop. Decades younger, maybe only forty or so.
“The Great Calamity was merciless when it swept out over the kingdom. There was nothing in its path that it didn’t devastate a century ago. I was one of the few who were lucky—the Sheikah village was remote and hard to reach, and well out of the Calamity’s focus. I lived a long, full life after it was said and done, but I couldn’t bring myself to move on, because… well, I’m getting ahead of myself.”
Inko heaves a sigh once more, and the look she gives Eijiro is apologetic. “There’s a lot I haven’t told you, but you have to understand. What you’ve been through—it was awful, Eijiro, and it would traumatize anyone. It would have been unfair and dangerous to overwhelm you with too much horrible news so soon after you woke, with your memory still fragile. I’m sorry.”
“I...” Eijiro manages, but his voice is weak. Overwhelmed is exactly the word for it, so he understands, but he only has more questions because of the time spent keeping things from him. He just wants to know already. “It’s… it’s okay.”
“Such a sweet boy,” she echoes the sentiment she’d told him last night quietly, before seeming to steel herself as she turns away to face the view of the castle through the steeple’s window. “But you’re ready, now, I think, to hear what happened one hundred years ago. All for One… that horrible monstrosity we can see from here—the stories said that long ago, that demon king was born into this kingdom, before he transformed into… into that.”
“I… I remember the legends, I think,” Eijiro tells her honestly. “That… that he’d barely been more than a fairy tale, a scary story people told, but—but didn’t really believe until… more recently.”
It’s so frustrating, what he does remember and where the blanks are instead. He remembers the tales, remembers that there’d been a shift from them being treated as fiction to being treated as an impending reality, but he doesn’t remember when or why.
Inko, for her part, nods, and seems to pick up on his frustration. “There was a prophecy,” she informs him, “Maybe twenty years or so before the Calamity came to pass. We knew it would be coming back, but the prophecy also promised a way to stop it, lying dormant beneath the ground. The Sheikah, the royal family—the entire kingdom came together, to try and find the aid the prophecy mentioned, and they were quick to find several ancient relics made by the hands of our distant ancestors.”
“The Divine Beasts,” Eijiro supplies, though his tone isn’t certain. But—but he knows this information, he thinks.
“Yes. Four giant machines, to be piloted by warriors,” she says, affirming the information that he thinks he has in his mind. “And, later, we discovered creations our research eventually taught us were called Guardians.”
The lifeless robots, decaying and overgrown with nature, which dot the plateau flash into his mind as his breath catches and his fists clench. As soon as she says the name, he’s sure of it.
“They were meant to be an army of mechanical soldiers, that fought autonomously to aid us. We realized—in the ancient legends we’d heard echoed so often, many of them told of these machines. That meant all of the legends—the prince with a sacred power, and his appointed knight who was chosen by the Sword that Seals the Darkness, who were the only ones who could truly seal All for One away with the aid of the relics we were discovering—all of it must be true.”
Yes, he knows those legends. Everyone knows those legends—there were far more of them than simply the ones centered around these ancient creations.
“One hundred years ago, there was a prince who would come to wield that power,” Inko continues, before she turns her head to meet Eijiro’s eyes, “and a skilled knight who fought at his side. The path laid before us was obvious, even without the prophecy. There were too many legends that echoed it all. So four Champions were chosen from across the kingdom to pilot the Divine Beasts, and together with the prince and his appointed knight, we were so sure we would be able to turn back All for One’s assault the moment it began. We had—we had all the pieces in place, after all.”
With that, Inko’s voice suddenly breaks. She turns away from Eijiro once more, with her hands pressed to her eyes. “We didn’t know—we couldn’t have—we never realized, All for One had spent all of those thousands of years plotting to—we never imagined it would appear from below Hyrule Castle itself, or take control of the Guardians and Divine Beasts. All that time spent restoring the machines to—to protect, and—”
Eijiro’s heart breaks with how devastated she sounds, and he stumbles forwards a few steps, reaching out a hand to—to—he doesn’t know, but he just wants to help. He wants to fix this, though he knows there’s no changing what’s already happened. He doesn’t remember any of this, but it hurts to hear, hurts to imagine.
“The Champions were killed, so many in the castle, in nearly every town nearby—and the appointed knight nearly lost his life in protection of the prince. He almost didn’t survive his wounds, he was in no shape to continue the fight. If the prince hadn’t survived, and returned to the castle with—with another chosen of Farore—if they hadn’t gone to fight the beast, alone, there would have been no hope for those who survived.”
Taking a shuddering breath, Inko chokes off the beginning of a sob, and Eijiro stumbles the last few steps forward to place a hand on her shoulder. It’s little comfort after everything, but she sags with the gesture.
“Eijiro, that other chosen of Farore… he’s my baby, my Izuku, and he’s risking his life to help Prince Katsuki hold All for One off. And the courageous knight, the one who kept Prince Katsuki safe until the very end, so that he could make it there at all…. Oh, Eijiro, honey, it was you. You were so brave, you did—you did so well, but even you couldn’t endure such an onslaught.”
Despite the tears still flowing freely down her face—and, shit, he realizes now that his own cheeks are wet, though he doesn’t remember any of this—she lays her hand over his on her shoulder, and the gesture somehow feels comforting even though he was the one trying to comfort her.
“You were carried here, to the Shrine of Resurrection, and spent one hundred years healing. I couldn’t rest with my Izuku still trapped in the castle, and I couldn’t bear to think of you awakening here alone, with no one to turn to, so my spirit settled here naturally when I died. I’ve been looking after you as best I can. And… and the voice you’ve been hearing, guiding you since you woke, that’s Prince Katsuki himself.”
Eijiro’s eyes pull from her face, and he finds himself looking out towards the castle with a feeling of desperation. Katsuki. That’s the name he can put to the voice. Katsuki, fighting with Izuku. Katsuki, who asked for his help.
“He’s still there, with my baby, fighting to restrain the Calamity, and—oh, Eijiro, honey, you’re so young to ask this of you, all three of you boys, you’re all so young—but they won’t be able to hold out for much longer before they’re going to need you. You’re—you’re the only one who can help them stop the Calamity from consuming all life left in the land. It’s so unfair to ask this of you, I—I can hardly bear to, but please save my son. Please bring my Izuku home, and destroy All for One before it can destroy anything else.”
Clearing his throat and swallowing roughly, Eijiro manages, “I will. I’ll—I’ll do it.”
This only makes Inko cry harder. “You shouldn’t have to. I’m so sorry.” She turns and embraces him suddenly, and the feeling now that she’s revealed her nature as a spirit is odd. Somehow warm and cold at the same time, but it doesn’t matter—he wraps his arms around her tightly. When she speaks again, her voice is muffled against the doublet she’d given him.
“You can’t go to the castle yet. Even Prince Katsuki wouldn’t expect that of you. There are things you still need to know, and—and All for One still has control of the Divine Beasts, and all of the Guardians. Please, please promise me you won’t make straight for the castle.”
“But...” Eijiro’s voice is still wobbly, and his hands are still too occupied to try wiping at his eyes. “I have to help them. Where else...”
Inko pulls back as he trails off, and she does her best to draw to her full height and look stern through a faceful of openly flowing tears. “You won’t be helping them or anyone else by charging off towards certain death before you’re fully recovered from your slumber. You should make for Kakariko Village, down the eastern road that cuts between the Dueling Peaks. The young man who leads the Sheikah, Aizawa, was an advisor to the Prince, and he’ll be able to give you counsel on the best steps for you to take. You’ll want to speak to him.”
Eijiro’s brow furrows, and he casts a look at the castle. Katsuki needs him, had asked him to hurry. “How long do I have? Before they run out of time in the castle? Do you know?”
“Long enough,” Inko says firmly, though the effect is somewhat undermined by the sniffle that follows. “Prince Katsuki would expect you to be smart about this, and he would know that will take time. Meet with Aizawa.”
Every fiber of his being wants to charge off, but… as painful as it is to promise, he tears his gaze from the castle to meet Inko’s eyes, and nods numbly. “Okay. I will.”
Relief floods Inko’s features. “Thank you. And you—you’ll need these.” She turns, then, to grab something he hadn’t noticed before; a pack that’s considerably less aged than his current one, with lots of different compartments. Flapping one such compartment open, she withdraws what she’d been seeming to work on the night before, and holds it out to him.
What he’d mistaken for a blanket, he now sees could never have been one—it’s too small, and the fabric is more like canvas, though it’s not quite as stiff. Still, he can tell that air won’t flow through the fabric easily, and even water would have a hard time soaking the material. He takes it from her, noting two wooden handles that run the length of its sides. “What’s…?”
“It’s a paraglider,” she informs him, managing a small smile. “It will support your weight and let you glide down from the plateau. And this bag is enchanted by Koroks. It belonged to my son, but he didn’t think… he didn’t think he would need it, to go to the castle. Each of its compartments can hold much more than it should, and it will be nearly weightless.”
He looks up from the gifts to meet her eyes once more, and the tear tracks on both their cheeks are still wet as he breathes, “Thank you. For everything.”
Inko’s smile grows, and she begins to fade once more as she presses the bag into his hands. “The best way to thank me is by staying safe. Take care, Eijiro. I’m so proud of you.”
Fifteen minutes later sees Eijiro standing at the very eastern edge of the plateau. The sun is setting, and the wise thing to do would be to rest for the night and set out in the morning, so he isn’t traveling in the dark.
Eijiro can’t wait. Impatience hums in his veins, making him twitchy and full of restless energy. Katsuki needs him, Inko’s son needs him, and he needs to be doing something. He won’t be able to stand the wait. So Eijiro takes a deep breath, new bag strapped to his back and paraglider clutched tightly in his hands.
And he leaps.

Trollhunting Lantern Chapter 1
A/N: This was written down long before Wizards, about two/three years ago, so this is an alternate universe.

“It’s Marnie & Campo, on River 94.9!  We play the best music mix from the 80s till now!”

The song “Hungry Like The Wolf” starts playing as two strange figures fight in the early morning light. Technically, morning shadows. They don’t touch the light.
“Yield, Trollhunter Jim!” One of the figures exclaims.
This figure is terrifyingly tall, has glowing yellow eyes, and a crimson coloured armour all around him, only revealing the glowing eyes. He has a long sword in his right hand the same colour as his armour.
The other figure, who has now been identified as Jim, replies, “A Trollhunter never yields, Venjo! I’d rather die!”
Jim is a tall creature that looks like he was once human. He has teeth pointing out of his bottom jaw, blue skin, horns on the top of his head, messy black hair, blue eyes, and red/black armour on with a sword made of the same material as his armour.
A human female with brown hair, a white streak and hairclips in her hair, reddish-brown eyes and purple armour jumps into the fray.
“& I’ll kill you if you kill him!” She exclaims.
Venjo smirks, “Terms accepted Trollhunter. Flesh-bag! This is not your battle!”
Jim smirks, “I can take him, Claire. Get out of here. Stay with Blinky.”
Claire smirks, “And let you have all the fun?’
Venjo jumps at Claire, who dodges and slams into him with her armour.
She smirks, “I gotta thank Merlin for the armour.”
Jim scoffs, “You’ve already thanked him a dozen times!”
Venjo slams into Jim, causing Jim to come dangerously close to the sunlight.
“Master Jim! Careful!” Another male voice calls.
Jim jumps away from the sunlight and slams into Venjo. Venjo gets thrown across the ground. Jim holds his sword towards Venjo.
“Your reign of terror will soon be over, Venjo!” Jim frowns.
The sunlight touches Jim’s armour, causing it to burn. Jim panics, & Venjo takes this opportunity to kick him in the face. Jim flies away, close to another beam of sunlight, with his sword in the sun. Venjo gets up, ready to run into Jim. Jim reaches into the sunlight to grab his sword, burning his hand. Claire keeps Venjo occupied while Jim shakes the sparks off his hand. Venjo hits Claire away, into the sun, which doesn’t affect her has much as it does the other two creatures.
“There is nowhere left for you to run, Trollhunter! Give me the Amulet!” Venjo yells.
Jim looks towards the circle on his chest. He jumps up a tree, trying to get away from Venjo for a short while. But every now and then, the branches snap underneath his weight. Jim stops and looks around for Venjo, when Venjo hits him from behind.
“OW! That was worse than your breath!” Jim groans.
Claire jumps on the branches too; her weight being supported more than Jim’s and Venjo’s. Venjo pushes Jim close to the end of the trees, where the sun is shining.
“It ends here, Trollhunter. It’s either me or the sun. Either way, you’re doomed.” Venjo laughs.
Claire hits Venjo away from Jim, who is burning.
“Doesn’t matter. The Amulet will find a champion. That Trollhunter will stop you and your schemes.” Jim groans.
Claire gasps as she realises what he’s saying.
“JIM! NO!” She screams as he jumps into the sun.
As he burns, he turns to stone. He smashes as soon as he hits the ground. Claire runs towards Jim’s remains.
“No! No, Jim, no.” Claire cries.

An alarm goes off at 7:00 playing “Eye of The Tiger”. A girl climbs out of bed. She has brown, curly hair, blue shining eyes, and looks like she’s only 13. She sings along to the song as she gets changed. She slides to the kitchen and cooks herself some scrambled eggs. She sets the table for the rest of her family, with six plates on the table, at six chairs, then she removes a plate. She puts milk, Milo Cereal, oats, and Rice Bubbles on the table. She continues to sing. Her family comes out with a smile on their faces.
“Face to face, out in the heat
Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry
They stack the odds 'till we take to the street
For the kill with the skill to survive!”
A boy slightly taller comes out and yells, “Shut up, Scarlett!”
The girl now identified as Scarlett ignores him.
“It's the eye of the tiger, it's the dream of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all with the eye of the tiger!”
The boy yells, “If you don’t shut up, Scarlett, you’re gonna regret it.”
Scarlett stops, then looks at him.
“You know, if you had taste, and were a proper brother, Nick, you would be encouraging me, not patronising me for being happy. I have every right to be happy. You, Nicholas, should be happy too. But you have no idea what it’s like to be happy anymore. You don’t even know what it’s like to work at Maccas! I had to slave over a grill, a HOT grill, & clean it while it was still on!” Scarlett frowns.
The boy now identified as Nicholas smirks, “How many jobs have you had?” thinking he has the upper hand.
Scarlett retorts, “How many jobs have you kept for more than a month?”
Nicholas stumbles, and two young girls laugh.
“Thank you, little sisters. Now I must be off, to my ACTUAL and real job. Unlike your big brother here, who, A, I didn’t put a plate out for, because he needs to learn to do things himself, and B, is a freeloader.” Scarlett smirks.
Scarlett walks out the door with a satisfied smirk. She grabs her bike and sees someone.
“Hey Greeny!” Scarlett exclaims.
A girl with short red hair, a yellow shirt, blue eyes, and a few bruises rides up and sighs, “What did I say about calling me that? I’m trying to keep my secret, and if you blurt that all over town, they’ll figure it out.”
Scarlett giggles, “No one’s gonna find out, Bracha. When someone calls someone else a Greeny, they think the person is either a vegetarian or a person who cares too much for the environment. Not…”
Scarlett points to a little green ring on Bracha’s right hand.
“I get it. I just don’t like it. What if there are other people who know about them?” Bracha asks.
Scarlett sighs, “It’s fine, Bracha. Talking about Extra-terrestrial’s is all the rage now. People are even going to storm Area 51 according to the internet. They won’t find anything. It’s all been moved to Area 49b.”
Bracha asks, “What makes you say that?”
Scarlett giggles, “It’s what my Arcadian friend Eli told me before he told me that he had to study abroad in Cantaloupia.”
Bracha asks, “Cantaloupia?”
Scarlett giggles, “I believe he actually meant he was visiting an alien planet to be the human ambassador or something. Speaking of, have you visited any new planets?”
Bracha smirks, “Akaridian-5. The species there are made pretty much entirely of energy, and their hearts they call “Cores”, and if someone dies, as long as their core is intact, they can come back to life through regeneration chambers. Or that’s what I gathered from the peace treaty. Queen Aja seems to be a wonderful queen. She recognised me as being human though.”
Scarlett asks, “Are they blue?”
Bracha falls off the bike in surprise.
“How did you know?” She asks.
Scarlett hops off her bike to help Bracha up.
“I’ll show you later. Let’s just say, Eli knows two. He was surprised I was actually sixteen. He swore I was alien.” Scarlett replies.
“Scarlett...”
Scarlett stiffens.
“Did you hear that?” Scarlett asks.
Bracha shakes her head.
“Scarlett...”
Scarlett notices a few rocks. She points to the rocks and sneaks over, as if a snake were going to jump out.
“Scarlett!”
Scarlett gasps, “Rocks are saying my name. If I get a ring from digging in that, and it’s green, I’m requesting to be on your team.”
Bracha makes sure no one is around and whispers, “In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight, let those who worship evil’s might, beware my power, Green Lantern’s light.”
A green costume forms around Bracha, and a mask appears over her face. She thrusts her ring towards the pile of rocks and what appears to be a laser goes over them.
“I’m getting an energy reading, but it’s not a Lantern energy. It’s something else. It registered the stones as k-spar.” Bracha frowns.
Scarlett turns and sighs, “Take that off. Someone could see you.”
Scarlett picks up a rock to show a glowing blue object.
“An amulet?” Bracha asks.
Scarlett sighs, “I thought it would be a ring. I was hoping. So I could hang out with you more often.”
Bracha’s green outfit disappears. Scarlett looks up and sees something white in the trees, then it disappears.
“Ever get that feeling you’re being watched, but you find no proof of it?” Scarlett asks.
Bracha nods.
“Let’s go. I’m gonna be late for work. Besides, if something does happen, I’m sure we can fight them off. Or you can.” Scarlett jokes.
The girls hop back on their bikes and ride off.
Meanwhile, above in the trees, a creature with blue skin and six eyes gasps.
“It chose a female human?” He asks.
Claire sighs, “I’ll keep an eye on the green girl. You keep an eye on the new Trollhunter. I have a feeling this isn’t going to be like Jim’s time as Trollhunter.”
 ***
Scarlett smiles, “Will that be all for today, Ma’am?”
A woman replies, “That’ll be all honey. Too much damage to my account.”
Scarlett giggles and receives the payment. As the woman leaves, someone pats Scarlett on the back.
“Well done, kid.” A guy smiles.
Scarlett replies, “Well, like you said, Jack, at Macca’s, we strive to put a smile on every seat. Correct?”
Jack smirks, “Good job. You going soon?”
Scarlett sighs, “I gotta do some mopping, but I’ll go after that. Red bucket for customer space. Right?”
Jack smiles, “Right again, Scarlett. I’m going on break. Seeya tomorrow?”
Scarlett replies, “Sure Jack.”
Scarlett washes her hands and gets the mop. She mops the customer’s area, and a familiar figure comes up behind her.
“Anything interesting happening in there?” Bracha smirks.
Scarlett rolls her eyes, “Nothing really. I barely even know anyone outside of work. They are all old enough to be my cousins!”
Bracha smirks, “That’s rich. You have, like, fifty cousins. Half of them are much older than you. And they are on your mother’s side. I haven’t even met your father’s side.”
Scarlett smirks, “You & I both, kiddo.”
Bracha frowns, “I hate that nickname.”
Scarlett giggles, “I call everyone that looks young kiddo. Especially if they are younger than me. Like you.”
Bracha sighs, “Alright, Alright. But I still don’t like the name.”
Scarlett rolls her eyes and sighs.
“I’m done my mopping. I have other work to do. Seeya later, Greeny.” Scarlett smirks.
Bracha sighs, “Don’t call me that.”
Scarlett walks away and notices a young girl sitting down with a white stripe in her hair. It reminds her of Disney’s Princess Anna. Scarlett continues walking into the staff only area. She goes into the staff break room, where her workmates are having fun on their breaks.
“Is she still following you around, Scarlett?” A girl with blonde hair asks.
“She’s my friend. I’ve told her she can stay around as long as she doesn’t come into the staff area and doesn’t pick any fights. Besides, it’s safer when I ride home.” Scarlett replies.
A tall guy sighs, “Well, it’s none of my business, but a girl seems to have taken an interest in the two of you.”
Scarlett sighs, “Who, Caillou?”
Caillou replies, “A customer. Her name is Claire. She’s got a white stripe in her hair.”
Scarlett frowns, thinking.
“Could she know? No, she couldn’t know. Or maybe she does know Bracha’s Identity. Maybe that’s why she was looking at us.”
Scarlett sighs & realises her shift is almost up.
“Got to go, guys!” She smiles.
“Seeya later, Strange Scarlett.” Everyone smiles.
Scarlett laughs as she goes & grabs her bag. She shoves a jumper on so people know not to go to her for food now. She signs out & walks into the customer area.
“Scarlett! You ready to go?” Bracha calls.
Scarlett sighs, “Sure.”
 ***
Scarlett frowns, deep in thought while riding.
“You okay, Scarlett?” Bracha asks.
Scarlett answers, “Yeah... I’m fine. It’s actually about a customer. I’ve been told she took an interest in us. She had a white stripe in her hair. Funny thing, I could’ve sworn I saw her in the forest, but no one was there.”
Bracha stares at her ring.
“Well, maybe the ring went haywire and didn’t see her.” Bracha suggests.
Scarlett smiles, “Well, we gotta split now. Seeya, Bracha. Good luck with the GLs.”
Bracha smiles, “Call me if that thing does anything.”
The girls split up and go to their separate houses. Scarlett opens the door and walks in.
“Hey, Scarlett!” Her father smiles.
“Hi Dad! How were the busses in Brisbane today? Anything special?” Scarlett asks.
Her father says, “Just your normal day. There were a few grumpy customers. I met a weird old man. I think he was at a costume party. He had armour on.”
Nicholas comes in and says, “Hi, Michael.”
Scarlett gasps, “That’s Dad to you!”
Michael sighs, “I’ll deal with it, Scarlett. How about you tell your mother about your day?”
Scarlett smirks. She knows not to get her Dad angry. She walks into the loungeroom.
“Hi Mum. How was Joshua today? Did he give you a hard time?” Scarlett asks.
Her Mum says, “Not really. He was actually quiet today. And you know that’s hard for your brother.”
Scarlett nods.
“Hey, Heather, where are the Wasabi nuts?” Michael asks.
“In the pantry!” Heather answers.
“I’m gonna put my stuff away.” Scarlett smiles.
“Alright honey. Your dad and I have to visit someone. Can you take care of your sisters tonight?” Heather asks.
Scarlett answers, “Sure Mum. As long as Face-ache is gone before you go.”
She walks to the room she shares with her sisters.
“Scarlett’s home!” The youngest exclaims.
“Hi, girls. Oriel, did anything happen today?” Scarlett asks.
The girl with sandy blonde wavy hair replies, “Sophie wanted to hang out. But since Nicko’s here...”
The girl with straight brown hair growls, “I really want to-”
Scarlett sighs, “Crystal, I know what you want to do, but it’s not that simple. If he hurts you again, do all you can to fight back. Just use a broom to whack him. By the way, I’m in charge tonight.”
Crystal frowns.
“Ring-ring-ring, Ring-ring-aling. Ring-ring-ring, ring-ring-aling. Get your phone! When someone calls. Get your phone!”
Scarlett answers the phone.
“Hello.”
“Has it done anything yet?” Bracha’s voice asks.
Scarlett sighs, “Nope. Nothing yet.”
Bracha asks, “You’ll tell me when it does something, right?”
Scarlett giggles, “Yes. Should I Pinkie Promise to ease your worries?”
Bracha sighs, “Alright.”
Scarlett rolls her eyes, “Cross my heart, hope to fly, Stick a cupcake in my eye I will tell you when it does something.”
Bracha giggles, “Thanks. I’ll ask tomorrow. Got to report in for the corps.”
Scarlett smiles, “Got it, Bracha. TTYL!”
Bracha hangs up.
“She still a Lantern?” Oriel whispers.
Scarlett’s sisters are the only other people that know about Bracha’s secret.
“Of course. It’s rare to be fired from her job. She’s still one of them.” Scarlett smiles.
“Girls!” Heather calls.
All the girls run towards their Mum.
“It’s time for us to go. Scarlett, you’re in charge while we’re gone.” Heather smiles.
Crystal hugs Mum & Dad first and gives them both a goodbye kiss. Oriel gives them a goodbye hug.
“What? No kiss?” Michael asks.
Oriel exclaims, “Yukky!”
Everyone giggles. Scarlett gives them a hug & a kiss.
“Seeya later guys.” Scarlett smiles.
Michael and Heather walk out the door. Scarlett’s sisters almost immediately run to the TV. Scarlett pulls the Amulet out of her pocket.
“What exactly are you?” Scarlett whispers.
Suddenly, all the girls hear a crash in the basement. They see Joshua is sitting on the couch. Crystal and Scarlett grab brooms and Oriel stays with Joshua. Scarlett opens the door and walks down with a torch in her mouth. Crystal stays behind in case something comes up behind Scarlett. Scarlett holds her broom like one would a katana.
“I hope it’s not snakes.” She mumbles.
She goes over to a pile of boxes and looks behind it. She notices strange footprints on the floor. Meanwhile, something comes up behind her.
“Lady Scarlett!” It exclaims.
Scarlett turns as fast as she can and whacks the creature with the broom. She now sees it has six eyes.
“Ow… Master Jim wasn’t so violent on his first encounter.” It comments.
Crystal comes down and goes to hit it when Scarlett grabs Crystal’s broom.
“Before we start attacking, and sorry, it was instinct, what are you?” Scarlett frowns.
The creature smiles, “I am Blinky. A troll. And you, Lady Scarlett, are the Trollhunter.”
Scarlett and Crystal exchange glances, look back at “Blinky”, then laugh. Blinky frowns in confusion.
“Sorry, Blinky. We just had to get that out of our system.” Scarlett smiles.
Crystal grips the broom again and goes to hit Blinky. Blinky winces when Scarlett grabs the broom, again.
“As you can see, Crystal’s prone to hit things that she doesn’t understand. I have adapted after living with her for thirteen years. Now, better explanation please before she hits me.” Scarlett asks in a deadpan voice.
“You have to fight evil trolls.” Blinky replies.
Crystal seems happy with this answer, then runs upstairs.
Scarlett sighs, “I’ll grab a mattress.”
She pulls a mattress out from behind some other boxes and puts it near the stairs as Crystal pulls Oriel and Joshua downstairs. Joshua acts like nothing’s different, and Oriel screams, promptly fainting on the mattress.
“You need to go before my parents get home. Either that, or get another beating, only from my mother. GET!” Scarlett orders.
Blinky leaves.
 ***
Scarlett throws water on Oriel, and Oriel gasps.
“What was that for?” Oriel coughs.
Scarlett replies, “Simple. You fainted after seeing a troll. Crystal’s fault. She showed him to you. If I end up hanging out with him, getting rid of evil trolls, you two have to cover for me. Especially you, Crystal.”
A knock is heard upstairs.
“Mum and Dad!” Crystal gasps.
Scarlett orders, “Not a word. Oriel, shower.”
They run upstairs. Scarlett prays it’s not Nicholas. Oriel runs to the bathroom and the others finish running to the door. They open the curtain to see-
“Nicholas. I jinxed it!” Scarlett mumbles.
They open the door and scowl.
“What are you doing here, you monster? Didn’t Dad tell you that if you’re not back before Eight, don’t come back at all?” Scarlett asks.
Crystal growls in a growl that sounds like a lion’s growl.
Nicholas scoffs, “You’re not Dad.”
Scarlett feels her face go red in anger when suddenly, Crystal jumps on Nicholas and pulls his hair out, little bit at a time. Scarlett stares in shock when Oriel comes down, shower finished, and stares, slack-jawed.
“Is Crystal…?” She asks.
Scarlett nods, “Uh huh.”
Oriel pulls Scarlett’s phone out and records the ordeal.
“This is going to be awesome.” Oriel smiles.
“What is going on here?” everyone hears a voice asks.
Oriel stops the recording and hides the phone while Heather and Michael stare at Crystal and a boy that looks like a jigsaw puzzle with a few pieces missing.
“What did you just do?” Heather freaks out.
Michael just stares in shock.
“Uh… Mum, Dad, He had it coming for eight years. She’s done enough for both of us.” Scarlett sighs.
She pulls Crystal away from Nicholas and takes both of the girls to their bedroom, and collapses on the floor.
“This day went from normal to the craziest day I’ve ever had in my sixteen years of living. And I bet this is just the tip of the iceberg.”
 ***
Nicholas comes back from the hospital, with his face and left arm in a cast. Heather walks upstairs and sits on the bed.
“I’m very disappointed in you girls.” Heather sighs.
Crystal frowns, “I’m sorry Mum. But he deserved it after all that he did to us!”
Scarlett keeps quiet, feeling ashamed.
“I know, but it wasn’t right. I know you have… issues, honey, but you should not do it. Scarlett, I know you were in shock, but please, take her off next time.” Heather frowns.
Scarlett nods. She walks over to the window and stares out.
“I understand Mum.” Scarlett frowns.
“I hope you all will be more responsible in the future.” Heather sighs as she walks out.
Oriel facepalms, “I can’t believe we let this happen.”
Crystal frowns, “Not my fault. He had it coming for years!”
Scarlett just continues staring out the window, a blue glow emanating from the amulet she now has in her hand.
“We have bigger fish to fry now. Like what showed up in our basement.” Scarlett whispers.
The girls stare at Scarlett.
“So, what do we do, Trollhunter?” Crystal smirks.
Scarlett giggles. It’s funny how her family can be upset and angry one second, then can be happy as Larry the next.
“Well, first, I need to find out more about this thing. It seems to be connected to Blinky. I have a plan.” Scarlett smiles.
Oriel frowns, “What are you doing?”
Scarlett whips out the phone.
“Hi, you’ve reached Bracha. Unfortunately, I am unavailable at the moment, but I will call you back as soon as I can. *Beep*”
“Hey, Bracha. Big news. I have to tell you something in person. One question I have to ask though. Ever heard of a Trollhunter?” Scarlett says into the answering machine.
 ***
Scarlett looks at her glow-in-the-dark watch and sneaks out the window. She looks at her sisters as they put pillows under her blanket. Scarlett gives them a thumbs up and walks as far as she can down her yard. Living in the middle of nowhere gives you a fairly big property to live in. She stops near the dam. She never goes this far from fear of snakes. Especially at night. She looks at the Amulet, which is glowing blue. A language comes up, which Scarlett finds familiar. Maybe Japanese or Chinese. It changes to another language, and another, then English.
“For the Glory of Merlin, Daylight is Mine to command.” Scarlett reads.
A few blue lights start going into the left side of her chest, and she floats into the air. Armour appears around her, which is slightly bigger than herself. The Amulet is right where the blue lights went. The armour glows blue, then changes its size so it fits perfectly.
“Awesome. Now my sisters will want one.” Scarlett laughs.
She holds out her hand and as another blue light goes into her hand, putting a sword in her hand, only slightly bigger than she can hold. It drops to the ground, making her groan in pain.
“I hope it works for this sword too.” Scarlett sighs.
The sword slightly shrinks to fit Scarlett’s muscles.
“Much better. So this is what that guy meant.” Scarlett giggles.
She waves the sword around and gets it stuck in a tree. She relaxes, then the armour and sword disappear, and the amulet falls onto the ground.

Survey #373
“warm me up in a nova’s glow  /  and drop me down to the dream below”
Have you ever kissed someone that you thought you’d never kiss? Welp, never thought I'd kiss a girl for most of my life. When was the last time you ate take-out and what was it that you ate? Mom bought us breakfast at Bojangle's the morning after my sleep study. I got a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. Do you enjoy when guys hit on/flirt with you or does it normally make you uncomfortable or annoyed? When was the last time more than one guy was flirting with you at a time? It makes me uncomfortable, especially if it's very obvious and pushy. Like some respectful flirting is fine and can be flattering if I'm single, but you better respect my boundaries and not act like a dog. I don't think two guys have both been openly interested in me since Juan and Jason in high school. Can you name five things you enjoy looking at pictures of? Animals, flowers, waterfalls, expressions of love between people, and boudoir. Would you rather have an eternal winter or an eternal summer? Both sound pretty sucky, but an eternal summer sounds worse. Do you know much about the Greek gods? Not anymore. I did in high school, as mythology was an elective I took. Are there a lot of stray cats and dogs near where you live? Not in this neighborhood. How would you cope with living in isolation away from society? How long do you think you could cope before you went mad? Oh god, I couldn't cope. I'd lose my shit so fast. Have you ever found any hidden treasure? No. Would you ever want to hibernate through the winter? No, I enjoy winter. Which holiday do you prefer, Halloween or Christmas? I like the Halloween vibe more, but I enjoy Christmas more as a holiday. Do you prefer hot or cold drinks overall? Cold. What’s the smallest thing you’ve ended a relationship over? I don't believe I've broken up with anyone over something small. Have you or a member of your family been diagnosed with COVID yet? My older sister got it. It was hell. What’s the dominant color in the room you’re in at the moment? An off-white. Do you know who your mom’s favorite singer is? James Hetfield of Metallica. Easy. What room in your house is the messiest? The spare room. Have you ever used a “puppy face” to get your way? Ha, yeeeaaah... If you could change any law that exists in your current country, what would it be and why? Here comes free healthcare. For obvious reasons. What were the last toppings you had on a pizza? Pepperoni. Would you rather spend an hour walking a dog or riding a horse? Riding a horse. Do you freak out when you need to visit the doctor or the dentist? Nah. Do you prefer The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit movies, if you like any of them? I haven't watched either. Which Harry Potter film was your favourite? What about your least favourite? I haven't watched those, either. What do you think about nose piercings? I like them. Nostril studs especially are really cute imo. How many floors does your house have? One. What’s your favorite flavor of Kool-Aid? I don't really like Kool-Aid anymore. Have you ever had anything removed from your body? Yeah, a cyst. Do you enjoy sappy love songs? Unabashedly. Do you wear a one-piece or a two-piece when you go swimming? One-piece. What would be your biggest pet peeve in a relationship? Not communicating your feelings straight-up. Be straightforward and honest with what you're going through with your partner, for the love of God. Have you ever had a teacher hit on you? Have you ever hit on a teacher? No to both. Do you tend to eat more on Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas? Christmas, because of chocolate stocking stuffers and boxes from Dad, haha. Do you know what an "AMV" is? Yeah, I used to make them. Do you think you have a sad life? In some ways, yeah. What’s one award show you have to watch every year? None. Who do you like more: the Batman or the Joker? The Joker, particularly Heath Ledger's. Do you like Rammstein? Love 'em. What is your favorite small dog breed? Aesthetically, I think pugs, but I've said before and I'll say it a thousand more times: I don't support breeding them. What was the first comic book you ever had an obsession over? I've never been obsessed with a comic book. Do you like kids pop-up books? Those were my absolute favorite kind AS a kid. What is your mother's mother's maiden name? Ummm I'm pretty sure Collins. Have you ever pet a monkey? No. What’s your favorite Owl City song… besides "Fireflies?" I actually really like "Hot Air Balloon." What’s your fave Miley Cyrus song? I don't know many, but I do know "The Climb" is absolutely gorgeous. Fave Rascal Flatts song? Probably "My Wish." But I also really like "Why" and "What Hurts the Most." Fave Justin Bieber song? None. Miley Cyrus, Demi Lavato, or Selena Gomez? Jesus, you really like bands that I don't, haha. I don't know any Demi or Selena songs, so idk. Fave Eminem song? Oh man, I do like a lot of Eminem. I know it's so cliche, but I genuinely adore "Love The Way You Lie." It gives me goosebumps. Do you think you could survive a month of solitary confinement? NO. Absolutely not. I would lose my motherfucking mind. What is something that you find utterly boring? Sports, save for dance, are incredibly blah to me. What noise/sound can put you to sleep? Gentle, steady rain tapping on the window. When you are upset, do you tend to shut others out? YYYYYYYYYYYEP. When was the last time you felt abandoned by someone? bleh Does the sight of blood gross you out? No. Do you like red roses, or do you prefer another color? I love red ones, but I really, really like the ones with a pink-peach gradient. Have you ever gone through a red light? I think I MIGHT have accidentally because I was zoned out, but I don't THINK so. Do you fail to stop for stop signs, sometimes? I can't recall if I ever have. What is one of your major turn-offs? Misogyny. The moment you act like you exceed my worth just because you have a dick, byyyyyeeee~ During which year of your life were you the most unhappy? 2016 was hell on Earth for me. Have you ever seen a blue jay in person? I have. Do you like leaves better in the summer/spring, or in the fall? I'd like to meet someone that actually chooses anything besides fall, lol. Do you like the appearance of green eyes? YES! Do you typically like green-colored candies? Yessss. It's not rare for them to be my favorite flavor of whatever the thing is. Who is the most energetic and happy person you know of? My nephew, omg. Have you ever encountered a black widow? I actually have seen at least one to my memory. They're native here. Has an animal ever peed on you? Yes. Do you prefer green or purple/red grapes? I enjoy both, but I prefer green IF they're actually firm. What color is your birthstone? Purple. Why did you leave your house last? To go to the TMS office. I have to go there every day (but the weekends) for two months for treatment now. Is anything on your body sore? Well, inevitably my upper right arm, where my tattoo is. It looks so fucking beautiful redone though, it's all worth it. :') Have you ever eaten a cookie cake before? If so, was it good? Hell yeah man, cookie cakes are great. Do you lose interest in someone easily? I'm quite the opposite. Who was the last person you flirted with? Sara. Do you still talk to the person you fell the hardest for? No. Who’s the last person that slept over your house? My sister and her husband. Have you ever regretted kissing someone? Yes. Are you currently sad about anything? I mean, I always am about something. How would you feel if your last ex fell in love with someone else? I would be super happy for her. Who was the last person who left your life and hurt you? Colleen. Do you know anyone who died of breast cancer? I might know of somebody, but all I know personally are survivors. Do you miss any of your old friends? Well of course. Have you ever been used before? I don't know. Ever taken a picture kissing someone? Yes. What’s the last thing you and your sibling laughed about? I Don't know. I haven't seen either in some time. What’s the last thing you took a picture of? A meme to send Sara, haha. Do you listen to classical music? No. Do you tell your parents who you like? Why or why not? I mean, I don't just randomly bring it up because just being like "hey I like this person _____ now" seems weird. Now if I was asked or mentioning it is somehow relevant, then I will. Who’s the most annoying person in your neighborhood? The damn dog next door who never shuts up. Name one of your psycho exes? None. I was the "psycho ex," and it's embarrassing as shit. Do you make your own clothes and/or add designs to them on your own? No. Do you ever feel guilty eating meat? It's not something I always actively think about, but subconsciously, I absolutely always do. Especially knowing my family doesn't buy from "ethical" markets, but instead big ones. "Ethical" in quotations because there is no moral way to slaughter an animal for food, but at least there are smaller farmers who can give their livestock a better, cleaner, happier life. What are you listening to at the moment? I'm semi-watching Gab play Bioshock. I'd never seen the game before, so just kinda vicariously checking it out. Seems all right. Does anything hurt right now? My tattoo is definitely in the sore phase. It'll start scabbing soon. I literally can't stop looking at it, I love it so much. How many years have you lived at the house you’re living in right now? Around 1 1/2. Have you ever lived in a different country that the one you’re living in? No. Which of your parents will you see next? I live with my mom and rarely see my dad, so. Do you like Chinese food? Only pork fried rice and egg rolls, really. What sort of music were you brought up on? When all of us kids were very little, Mom would usually play her rock channels on the radio, sometimes a (clean) CD. She also would ensure to play kids' cassettes sometimes, too, like Raffy or whoever it was. Once Ashley reached a certain age, she would always ask for a pop channel to be put on, so most of my childhood was that and some country music, too.

Stuff to have at home at all times for cooking masterpost (from an italian student).
FRESH
For whatever's sake BREAD. Always have bread. You can make it yourself, you can buy a gigant loaf and stick it in the freezer or buy it every morning together with the paper like ur grandpa, idc just have bread.
Olive oil and butter. Stock-buy both: you can put the butter in the freezer. You can also buy 5l canisters of olive oil.
Onions, or spring onions, when available: they are the official 2 for the price of 1. Prepare soffritto with the white part, add the green part in the end. Also garlic.
Eggs. Easiest thing to cook (just boil them, no need to make a pan dirty just to scramble them). Are also useful for a lot of other recipes. Also, if your eggs are fresh and you are tired, not disgusted and not afraid of salmonella you can wash an egg, poke two holes on both ends and drink it.
Buy whatever vegetables you can get your hands on; it doesn't matter which. Try to find cheap fresh things at ur supermarket, and buy seasonal fruits and vegs. Try not to buy the pre-packaged ones, because you cant choise exactly what u want and the older or crappier things will be stuck in pre-packaged stuff. If you want you can go to the farmer's market. This can be tricky because there are two types of farmer's markets: the fancy ones and the reasonable ones. If there is a big immigrant community (for example from turkey) in your city, just go to the markets they go to, there will most likely be good quality food at a decent price. Be careful with mushrooms, they're always a scam.
You should strive to never run out of salad greens, potatoes and carrots. Buy zucchini, aubergines and tomatoes whenever u get a chance.
Fresh lemon, then any fuit that is not too messy to eat: apples, and oranges in winter, whatever u like in summer. (I vouch for grapes)
BTW, make jam, kompott and stuff like that if u want, then give it to neighbors, flatmates, friends and family in winter: it helps your social status more than u would expect.
For fresh spices: buy a BIG bunch of parsley ONCE, cut it, put it in a jar in the freezer and scrape it off when u need it. Now u dont have to deal with cutting parsley. Ginger is good. Also, have a basil plant .
Have parmigiano, pecorino, some fresh spreadable cheese, and ham/diced pancetta. Also milk for or yogurt for breakfast and cooking if you want. And remember: buy mozzarella; the caprese is your friend in hot, lazy summer days.
Also: buy ground meat, make ragout, stick it in the freezer, survive, thrive, enjoy life.
NOT FRESH
Boullion cubes: always have them, if you want to add the right amount of tastiness and salt just crumble it into the pan and add the water later.
At least some pasta, for when u dont have time. Then rice, and cereals that u can boil and eat like emmer, barley and (personal niche preference) buckwheat; these serve as perfect side carbs to your boiled vegs.
Olives and dried tomatoes in olive oil, and salted capers.
canned tuna, canned or bottled tomato sauce.
Dried beans, lentils, chickpeas.
A shitload of salt, sugar, and flour.
oregano, pepper, dried chilli peppers, soy sauce (if u like), baking powder, + any spice u use a lot.
Great, now you only need to buy the fresh stuff and whatever runs out, and you are settled.

"What are you doing here?" I rolled my eyes at the boy in black hair and piercing gaze that spoke.
He took a sip of a red liquid in a glass cup. The same liquid everyone here was drinking. If people weren't drinking, they were dancing. I sighed and looked at the small paper in my hands.
"Came looking for you." I said, thrusting the piece of paper at him. He glanced at the piece of paper and made a small choking sound.
"This is too much. I don't have that kind of money."
"I could always leave you to starve. You're the son of the CEO, who by the way is CEO of one of the most famous entertainment companies in Korea."
"You're mean." He growled and took his cellphone out. I watched him click buttons and my cell phone beeped.
"You'll get the other half when our job is done." He grumbled, putting his phone back in his pocket.
"It's dangerous here, you know?" He walked towards me slowly and I rolled my eyes. They always had a thing for dramatic flair.
"I can handle a couple bloodsuckers. Just like I can handle you." I grabbed his hands and put them on my waist. His eyes seemed to sparkle with lust, just like every other time he feeds.
"If you drink more than a few liters, I will rip your fangs out."
"Noted." He inched closer to me, lips trailing my neck.
I closed my eyes and he bit into me. I let out a soft yell as a flash of pain hit me. His grip on my waist tightened, a sign he was almost finished.
"I have more clients in a few hours." I said, opening my eyes.
"What did I say about having more clients?" He growled.
"I need the money, Jisung. Hannah needs to get better." He licked the wound and pulled away from me.
"I could pay for your sister's treatment."
"I don't like charity, Han. I'd prefer earning my own money. I'd need to pay you back and I don't like owing people."
"You could always be my companion." I laughed. Companion usually meant walking blood bank.
"That's funny, Jisung. I have to go." He nodded and took his phone out. I strapped my small crossbody bag over my shoulder and heard a familiar beep.
"When do you want to meet?"
"I'll tell you when I'm hungry." I laughed at his lame joke and pecked his cheek.
"Thank you." He smiled at me, his cheeks proofing up, making his appearance seem like a squirrel's.
"No problem. Have a safe trip home." I nodded and walked to the door before going out, away from the glowing red eyes.
                                                     ___
Meeting in a dark alleyway was not my ideal place for a job. Alas, my client always preferred that and he gives me money so who am I to say no?
"Sorry, I was busy. Needed to see my sister, plus I met Jisung at the club." I yelled out to the seemingly empty alleyway. It was never empty.
"How is she?" A smooth voice called out. No matter how many times he does this, it still gives me chills.
"She's surviving but barely. The treatment is keeping her alive."
"You could always ask Han or I to turn her."
"You know how I feel about that."
"I also know you go home weak and sometimes pass out from the loss of blood, Aria. If she becomes one of us, you wouldn't have financial problems."
"She's my responsibility, Chris. If she gets turned, whoever turns her needs to check up on her. I don't want to feel like a burden."
"Everything would be easier."
"Does it look like I care, Bang? All I care about is paying her medical bills. Now, are we going to do this or not?"
He came out of the shadows and smirked. He motioned with his head for me to go to him and I rolled my eyes. I've had it with the dramatic flair.
He wore all black with the exception of his hair, which was silver. He was handsome, with a strong jawline, pale skin and beautiful brown eyes.
"Here." He held a white envelope and I grabbed it.
"You're supposed to give me half, and give me the other half when the job's done." He shrugged and turned to the floor.
Am I seeing this correctly? Did I make a vampire shy?
"Is this pity money? I need to do my job."
"No. I just don't feel like feeding."
"You could've texted me instead of making me come over."
"Would you just take the money? I know how important this is for you." I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.
"Fine. I'll see you later." I turned around and felt a hand on my wrist.
"Wait." He said softly. I turned to him and he walked closer to me.
"I want to do something. Will you let me?" His eyes seemed to sparkle.
Han and him were my favorite clients. Some clients were absolute slobs, but they were not. They were kind and gentle souls. Unlike most vampires.
I nodded and he leaned towards me. He stopped inches from my face and I felt my cheeks go red. He closed the gap between us as he kissed me.
                                                    ____
"Hannah!" I yelled out as I opened the door to our house. The house was quiet, not even the TV was on. My mind flashed back to the kiss with Chris.
I can't hide it anymore. I like you, Aria.
"Hannah! Are you here?!" I walked through the hallway and into her room.
It seemed untouched, her bed and pictures on the desk were in the same place. I walked out and walked to my room. Everything was in its place. Why do I feel like something's about to happen then?
An ear piercing scream cut through the air and I ran. I was probably stupid to run towards the scream but I kept running. I entered the kitchen and gasped.
A man in black was hovering over my sister. She was on the floor, blood poured out of her neck. The man turned to me, an evil glint in his eyes.
"Whose this, Hannah? Your sister?" The man smiled evilly, blood coating his teeth.
He looked like a monster. Not like Jisung or Chris. I felt myself unable to move, as the man stood up straight.
"Don't touch her." Hannah said weakly. The man walked towards me, and I wanted to run away but my body wasn't complying.
"Her? No, I won't touch her. I already did what I came to do. Goodbye." The man disappeared in front of me. I ran to Hannah and applied pressure to her neck.
"What did that man want? No, nevermind. Don't talk right now. We have to get you to the hospital." I tried pulling her arms but I couldn't move her.
I was weak from Jisung drinking my blood earlier. I rushed to get napkins and put it on her neck. The blood just kept coming and it was making me panic.
"You'll be fine. Hannah. Just hang on, okay? You can't die on me." I felt the waterworks coming.
"I feel fine, Aria. Don't worry about me." All hell broke loose as I cried. I looked at the blood on my hands and cried even more.
"You have to be fine. What will I do without my big sister? I don't think I'll survive on my own, Hannah." She put her hand on my shoulder.
"It'll be fine. Now, I'm going to take a quick nap, ok?" Her eyes began to close. I grabbed her shoulder and shook her.
"What? No. No. Hannah! Don't close your eyes! Hannah!" Her eyes closed and I felt some part of me die.
Hannah was dead and it's the monster's fault. I closed my eyes tightly. It must be a dream, right? I'll wake up any second now.
In the back of my mind I knew this was real. Being with Jisung at the club was real. The kiss with Christopher was real. Everything was real.
I stood up from the floor and walked to my room. I'll deal with her body later. Right now, I need a shower.
                                                     ___
"Aria, wake up!" I let out a groan and turned around. I need sleep to forget that my sister is dead. In my dreams we'll be together.
"Aria! Breakfast will get cold!" I turned around and hugged my pillow. Someone was being rude. Can't they let me sleep.
"Aria Park. Get up right now!" My eyes shot open as a feminine voice called my name. I turned to Hannah on the foot of my bed, looking concerned.
It was a dream then. I imagined everything. I wasn't with Jisung or with Chris and Hannah is not dead. I stood up and smiled.
"Hannah? I had a nightmare. You were there and Jisung and Chris were there too."
"Tell me over breakfast." I pulled the covers off me and frowned. I wore these exact clothes in my dream.
I walked out of my room and followed Hannah to the kitchen. Two plates with eggs, rice, bacon and toast were on the table. I sat down silently, glanced at Hannah.
Something was off about her. Her hair seemed darker and her skin seemed paler. Reality hit me and I ran a hand through my face.
"It wasn't a dream, was it?" She looked at me with sad eyes. I gripped my fork tightly, blinking back my sobs.
"You're not like me anymore then? You're like Jisung. I should be happy right?" I took a bite of my egg. Happiness is the opposite of what I felt.
"It's not like I promised mom and dad when they died that I would protect you. That nothing would harm you."
"I know you feel bad, but you won't have to do odd jobs to put food on the table. You won't be a blood bank anymore."
"Just for you? I- I gotta go." I pushed my plate away and walked out the door.
I took off in a sprint, not caring that I left my undead sister in our house. I could not stay there anymore.
In a couple minutes, I reached the woods. I used to play with Hannah alot here as a child. Tears pricked my eyes at the memory.
"What are you doing here?" I turned around to see Jisung walking towards me.
"Jisung." I said and I let out a curse. I really hated when they popped out of nowhere.
"Aria, are you okay?" I shook my head and wrapped my arms around him as soon as he was within arms reach.
"I-I don't know what to do. I feel really bad. There was this man who broke into our house yesterday. He..." My voice broke and I began sobbing.
"He bit Hannah. She- I thought she died."
"She didn't?" Concern was laced in his voice. I shook my head, tears starting to fall.
"She got turned."
"Isn't that good?" I sighed and groaned, pulling away from him.
"She-I- I made a promise to our parents on their deathbed that I would protect her. I failed. While I was out with Chris, the man attacked her. I should've been there."
"You couldn't do anything. It's not your fault."
"It is. Now, my sister's a monster! Like the man! She's..." I trailed off and widen my eyes. I had screwed up.
"You think we're monsters, then? That explains a lot." I turned to him, his eyes were full of hurt. It hurt me to see him that way.
"The way you always called me a job. Making it seem like I wasn't human." He chuckled bitterly.
"No. Jisung. That's not what I meant."
"I know exactly what you meant." His eyes turned dark. That was bad.
His eyes glowed red and his claws were out. He wouldn't  kill me. He can't. Out of instinct, my hand grabbed a small knife from my pocket.
"You're even afraid of me." His eyes stopped glowing, turning their normal shade of brown. My lips felt dry and my.palms started to sweat.
"Jisung." He shook his head and turned around, walking away. I ran towards him and wrapped my arms around him.
"Jisung." He went rigid and stopped. I hugged him tighter, afraid he would disappear.
"No, Aria. You're right. I am a monster. So, stay away from me." He pulled me off him.
"Jisung. Look at me." Tears ran down my cheeks, regret eating me.
"Jisung." He turned to me, slowly. His gaze was cold, lifeless. I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out.
I did the only thing I could do that I've been wanting to do ever since I met him. I ran to him and crashed my lips to his.
He pulled away and frowned before shaking his head. I couldn't have broken him, he's stronger than that. He'll bounce back and it'll all be normal again.
"You smell like him." He snarled and walked away from me.
Chris. He smelled Chris.
Just like that all the world's left unsaid disappeared. All it took were four little words for me to crumble.
                                                   ___
I knocked on the white door, waiting for it to open. My mind wandered back to Jisung as I stood outside the white mansion.
Did Jisung really care what I think? I was just human, nothing special. But I have known him for a few years now. That must be why he got hurt.
"Aria?" Chris looked at me quizzically.
"Can I come in?" He nodded and moved aside. I walked into his house and he closed the door.
He must be rich. His couch was leather and the center table looked to be marble. I plopped myself on the couch.
"What's up?"
"Well, I made a mistake. Lots actually. When I got home yesterday, Hannah was hurt. She got bitten by a man who broke into our house. At least I think he broke in, I'm not sure. And I got so mad because she turned. I couldn't even talk to her this morning."
"What did you do?"
"I ran away. Got all the way to the woods and Jisung was there."
"Yeah. You smell like him." He wrinkled his nose and I remembered Chris' kiss.
"Shut up. Anyway, I told him what happened exploded. I call him Hannah and him monsters. I didn't mean it but he got hurt and left."
"You really care about him huh?"
"Is it very obvious? I was pissed over Hannah. Now I think I lost both of them." He hugged me and I pressed my head yo his chest.
"You'll always have me. And Hannah is a vampire now, but she's still your sister."
"I know. But I felt really useless. I promised my parents I would protect her and I didn't. I let the man turn her. I just want to find him and rip his damn eyes out."
"He'll kill you love." He sat on the couch with me.
"I don't care. As long as he dies too." He pulled away from me and his finger grazed my chin, lifting my head to face him.
"Don't say stuff like that. If you died I don't know what I'd do." He leaned towards me and closed the gap between us.
The kiss was short and sweet. I felt guilty kissing two guys knowing I like both of them. I ended the kiss and leaned my head against the couch.
"I don't know what to do. This shouldn't even bother me that much. Ok, sure, Hannah got turned, medical bills got fixed. But, she doesn't have a job, at least this pays for food. And don't even get me started on Jisung." I closed my eyes, feeling drained.
"Relax, Aria. I could help you. My mom's one of the top models of Korea, so I'm loaded." He joked and I let out a weak chuckle.
"No. But, will you let me stay here for a while? I really don't want to face my sister right now."
"You can stay here whenever you'd llike. You can stay in any guest room you want."
"Great. Let me take a short nap on your couch. I'm digging the leather." I took a deep breath and let sleep consume me.
                                                       ___
"Aria, wake up." A male voice said from far away but I just turned around.
"Aria, I brought a friend." My eyes fluttered open to see Chris smiling at me. I stood up and stretched, trying to ignore Chris eyeing me up and down.
"Where is your friend?" I asked, cracking my neck.
"He's in the bathroom. C'mon." I raised my eyebrows at him but followed him. He opened the door and I turned to him.
"Why would your friend be- whaaaa!" He pushed me lightly into the room and closed the door.
"Chan Christopher Bang! When I get out of here I will grab some mistletoe and shove it up your ass!" On the other side of the door I heard him chuckle.
"Laugh while you can, Bang. You won't live to see the light of day!" I turned around and my breath hitched.
Han Jisung was staring at me amused, eyes red. He must've been crying. Even when crying he still looks cute. Ugh, don't distract yourself from your goal; killing Chris.
"Ok, Chris is definitely dead. I will kill him painfully and slowly when I get out!"
"Do you need help? He invited me to play Fifa a few minutes ago so I came and he locked me here."
"You can bury the body." I joked and he smiled slightly. Then I realized how bad the situation was.
I was standing in a huge restroom with one of my crushes, unable to get out because my other crush locked us in. Fantastic.
"I'm sorry. I don't know what got into Chris. I really really messed up. You're important to me and I wasn't thinking. I ended up causing more harm than good and it's the man's fault. Since, now my sister is going to drain all my blood and- mmmmph." I stopped in my tracks as Jisung's lips crashed into mine.
"You talk too much." He pulled away and I just stared at him, moving my lips like a goldfish. My brain short circuited as I just stood there.
"You're not mad?"
"I was at first. But then, Chris called me and I spend an hour listening to him. I realized that I care for you too and I'm sorry for overreacting." I smiled at him brightly and laughed.
Why was I laughing? I did not know. Maybe I was finally crazy after spending time with vampires. Maybe I really adored both Jisung for being in the bathroom, and Chan for locking me in here.
"Go out with me?" He asked, walking towards me and I nodded. He wrapped his arms around me and I hugged him back.
"I'm still killing Chris." I said and he let out a laugh.
                                                    ___
I knocked on my house door, feeling nervous. Was she mad at me for leaving her almost all day? She must feel so alone now that she's a vampire. Maybe I should introduce her to Jisung and Chris.
The door opened and out came my sister. I opened my mouth to speak but she grabbed my and pulled me into a hug.
"Don't scare me like that again. I didn't know where you went." She pulled away and I closed my mouth.
"Sorry for leaving. I was just shocked, still am. How do you feel? Hungry?" She shook her head and I walked inside the house.
"I ate some food from the fridge. Should we call the hospital about my medical bills?" I nodded and took my cellphone out.
"We should say it was something you drank. Or a vaccine they put you." I said as I dialed the hospital's number.
"Hello? This is St. Adam's Hospital." The receptionist said from the other line.
"Yeah. I'm Aria Park, calling about Hannah Park and her medical bills."
"What's the patient's ID number?"
"4469."
"Do you need help knowing how much you owe? Or how many treatments there are left?"
"Both."
"You need one more treatment and it would cost about $200." I winced at the amount. That would be at least two more blood transactions from me if she were human.
"Alright. I'd like to cancel everything. The last vaccine did the trick."
"We still need to check to make sure everything is in order. You need to make an appointment for that." I sighed but nodded, as if the woman could see me.
"When is the earliest?"
"Tomorrow at ten. Is that alright?"
"Yeah that's fine. If she doesn't need treatment can you cancel everything?"
"Yeah, of course."
"Thank you."
"Thank you for contacting us. Good day."
The line went dead and I pocketed my phone. I turned to my sister and smiled at her. She smiled back, fangs visible.
"Since you're all better, you should get a job." I joked and she pushed me playfully.
                                                        ___
"Guess who just got a job!" Hannah bounced around the living room. I lifted my gaze from my phone to her.
"You got a job? Where?"
"Well, at the hospital."
"What?"
"Yeah. Shift starts in a few hours. Do you mind being alone for a few?"
"Nah. Jisung might be down to hang out."
"You mean your new boyfriend?" She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively. I felt my cheeks heat up.
"He's not my boyfriend yet. He barely asked me yesterday. We're going with the flow. Anyway, how did they give you the job so fast?"
"I used some of my compelling skills for it." I clicked my tongue and put my phone in my pocket.
"No, really. How did you get a job so fast." She glared at me and I frowned.
"If someone catches you, Hunter's might come, Hannah."
"I know. I was careful. It was only one time."
"It better be."
"It will. Anyway, don't you have better things to do than nag me? Maybe go out with Jisung?" I chuckled.
"Nope. Since my sister came back to life, I'm dedicating all my life to protect her." I partially joked.
"You should get a life."
"Says the one whose dead." I laughed and turned my attention back to my phone. I quickly asked Jisung a question and clicked send.
Jisung, do you want to hang out. You can meet my sister
I turned to my sister and smiled at her. Maybe it would be nice for them to meet. I have been gushing about him to here for a while now.
"Do you want to meet Jisung?" She nodded and my phone beeped.
Be there in five. 🐿
                                                    ___
I turned the TV on and checked what was on. My sister was next to me, a bowl of popcorn in her lap. Jisung was on my other side, with his arms around me. I kept changing channels until I stopped at Channel 5.
"Breaking news. A man was found murdered a few blocks from the Metropolitan Library. According to the FBI. He was a mass murder, murdering innocent women all over the globe."
The screen flashed black with a warning that said warned viewers of the grotesque scenes and a picture of a man came up.
There was a huge slash on his neck with dried blood around it and a few cuts on his body. All that was visible was a mop of black hair and pale skin. His face was blurred out.
"That's him." My sister stood up, spilling the popcorn on the floor.
"Him who?"
"The man that turned me. He's dead." I sighed and rubbed a hand through my face. Jisung's grip on me tightened and I leaned towards him.
"Let's go to Julia for the weather report." The anchor woman said as the screen turned into a map.
"At least he won't be terrorizing more people." I grabbed the remote and changed the channel.
"When does your shift start?"
"In thirty minutes. I gotta go guys, have fun. But, not too much." Hannah turned to me and winked. I felt my cheeks heat up as she stood up.
"Have fun." I called out as she walked out the door. I turned to Jisung and he smiled at me.
"What do you wanna do? You wanna feed?" I asked him. He shook his head and kissed my cheek.
"Let's watch a movie." I grabbed the remote and clicked on Netflix.
"Which movie? Or do you want to watch a show?" I scrolled down, watching movie titles.
"I don't know yet. But, I'll watch whatever you want to watch." He kissed my cheek again and I clicked on Teen Wolf.
My phone beeped and I turned to my phone. Chris had texted me. I quickly sent him a message and put my phone in my pocket.
"I have work, Ji. It'll be quick so we can watch Netflix." I stood up and he just stared at me.
"What's with the stare?" I asked.
"You called me, Ji."
"Was I not supposed to?" I grabbed my crossbody bag and raised an eyebrow at him.
"You've never called me Ji before."
"Get used to it. You can call me Ari. Or just stick with Aria, either way I don't mind. But, I have to go. See you in a bit."
"Wait, do you want a ride?" I gave him a puzzled look.
"You don't drive, Jisung."
"But I can run really fast, Ari. We'll get there in seconds." The way he said Ari made me happy.
"Ok. Do you know Chris' address?" He frowned and shook his head.
"Ok  then. Let's go." I turned the TV off and walked out the door.
"Hop on." Jisung knelt down and I laughed.
"You're going all Twilight on me."
"Yep. So, hop on." I rolled my eyes but jumped on his back.
"You should eat more, you barely weight anything." I hit his head playfully.
"It's because of your hellish strength. Anyway, Chris' house is near St. Adam's Hospital."
                                                     ___
Jisung stopped outside Chris' mansion and I got off him.
"Well, spider monkey, let's not do that again. I felt like barfing halfway." I said as I walked to Chris's door and knocked.
"Hey." Chris said as the door opened. He smiled brightly at me.
"Yo. Ji, can you wait for me in the living room? I don't like when people watch." He nodded as Chris let us in.
"Ok. We'll be back." I walked to Chris' bedroom with him in tow. I closed the door behind me and turned to Chris.
"Hey." I sat on his bed and smiled at him.
"Hey." He walked to me and took his phone out. He clicked buttons and put his phone in his pocket.
He leaned towards me and I held my arm out. He looked at my arm, then at me.
"Do you mind biting my wrist this time?" I asked and he shook his head.
"Not at all." He said as he grabbed my arm and bit it.
I let out a yell as he drank from me. He pulled away and licked my wound.
"Is he treating you well?" I nodded and he took his phone out to send me money.
"Yeah. He's great." My phone beeped and he put his phone in his pocket again.
"Good."
"Sorry. I didn't mean to lead you on."
"It's fine. Even if I really like you, I don't want to lose our friendship."
"I don't want to lose it either."
"If you ever need me, I'm here. As a friend or anything more. Although I will destroy Jisung if he hurts you." I let out a laugh and smiled.
"He won't. I'll see you around." I stood up and walked to the door.
"Yeah. Have a safe trip home." I nodded and both of us walked out the door.
"Let's go, Ji. See you later, Chris." I opened Chris' front door and walked out the door.
"Hop on."Jiisung knelt down as soon as I closed the door. I chuckled and hopped on his back again.
                                                    ___
My phone beeped and I took my phone out as soon as we got home. My sister sent me a message and I groaned.
"We have to go to the hospital. They're giving Hannah some tests to make sure she's healthy."
"Alright." Jisung knelt down again and I hopped on his back once more before he started running.
We got to the hospital quickly and I opened the door to the hospital. The smell of alchohol and cotton balls made me want to immediately leave. I never liked hospitals.
"What room is Hannah Park in?" I asked the receptionist at the counter.
"Room 456." She said smiling.
"Thank you." I said as I walked through a hallway.
"Hey, you!" I announced as soon as I passed the door to Hannah's room. She was in a hospital bed with a doctor next to her.
"Aria." She said as I walked towards her.
"Hello, I'm Aria Park. Her sister. How is she?" I asked the doctor.
"Somehow she's healthy. It might have been the last vaccine we gave her. She's free to leave but please give her lots of electrolytes to hydrate herself. If she feels worse, bring her back."
"Of course. Thank you doctor." I turned to her and smiled brightly.
"The amount due for the medical procedures will be canceled within the next twenty four hours." The doctor said and I nodded.
"Thank you doctor."
                                                      ___
"You know I really thought I would be forever trying to pay Hannah's bills." I said, laying my head on Jisung's chest.
"You worry too much." He kissed my temple and I sighed.
"I guess I worry a bit. You know, I never really thought you and I would become a thing. I always thought I would always be just a blood source for you."
"You thought wrong. I never told you because I thought you would always look at me as a monster."
"I'm sorry again, for what happened two days ago. But hey, at least you're here with me. And that's all that matters." Jisung turned to me, a sultry look on his face.
He put his hands on my waist and pushed me lightly so that my head was near the armrest of the couch. He climbed on top of me and grabbed my hands, placing them over my head. His hands kept mine in place as he smirked. He looked hot like this
"What's my name?" He growled, eyes flashing. Vampires loved dramatic flair. Not that I minded, it was enjoyable. I rolled my eyes and raised my head to kiss his nose.
"Jisung."

Foretell Chapter 1: Closed Eye
Everyday is the same day for one Simon Cross. Wake up, eat, go to school, comeback home, eat, go to sleep, and repeat. There are times when its not boring as usual for Simon, these rare occasions happen due to his friends. They all have different quirks and talents that completely separate them apart. A miracle will happen soon and obstacles will test their resolve and their friendship.
Today is a new day, a Monday. The current state of the room suggests that a hurricane must've passed through. The walls are covered with various posters of rock bands and video game characters. On the corner a stack of comics is covering an old dusty base guitar. On the right side of the room a bed near the window is visible with someone currently under a blanket, the alarm rings with the time saying it's 7:00 A.M. The boy on the bed refuses to get up, tossing and turning just to ignore the loud noise of the alarm, he attempts to shut it off, clearly struggling, until finally he manages to turn it off and proceeds to look at the time. "ugh... morning already?" said the boy with a yawn. As he stands up he proceeds to the bathroom door next to his table and walks inside to wash his face, he looks in the mirror and all he saw was his light brown face and black hair, he says to himself "Alright Simon today's the day, we're gonna finally tell Liz how you feel about her." Just the thought of it makes Simon's face gushing red. "Can I really do it today?" He says that while his head is on the bathroom sink .
After that he went out of his room and walked down the stairs. He walked straight to the kitchen and open the refrigerator, he took two eggs to cook for his breakfast. After all that he proceeds to the bathroom to take a shower. He took out his favorite yellow shirt with a black star print on it along with some jeans. He packs his bag and walk towards the door, he passes by the living room and sees his father asleep on the couch with a beer bottle in hand. A look of hate and disgust is visible on Simon's face. He ignores his father and opens the door and proceeds to leave closing the door behind him.
As soon as Simon arrives he looks up and sees a huge sign of the schools name "Good Fortune High School", He walks in the front gate and greets the guard a good morning, the guard simply nods at him and gestures for him to keep on walking. Simon went inside the main building and walks up the stairs heading to the second floor.
As he makes it on the second floor he was immediately greeted by a tall man with an orange ginger hair wearing a red hoodie and a green shirt. He was Robin Flask or Rob for short, he's the oldest in Simon's circle of friends that's because he was always held back at school for the lack of academic improvement, but he still remains a kind and down to earth person who likes animals specifically a stray black cat he named Caster. Being an orphan Rob learned to live and survive on his own also being a part time mechanic.
"Hey Rob your awfully early today." Simon says this with a teasing face.
"Shut up squirt, everyone's in class already."
"Is Liz there?"
"Of course when has she ever been absent?"
"Y-yeah... ha ha ha you're right. I guess I'm going in then." He's face is completely flustered.
"Uh huh you go get her romeo" Rob says this with a visible smirk on his face.
Rob rubs Simon's head and goes down stairs to got to the bathroom. Simon walks up to the first door on the left, he took a deep breath and walks in. As he opens the door there were around 20 students there including all of Simon's friends. He saw the class president Vicky Chimes sitting in the front row. Black haired and wearing a long skirt along with a white blouse and a huge pair of glasses, she is the best friend of Elizabeth Swan and she is a perfectionist. She believes that all boys are revolting. She quickly glances at Simon but totally ignores him afterwards.
Simon was immediately greeted by a camera flash, it was the twins, Vina and Rina Vale, the two look completely the same with their white skin and blonde hair. The only way to differentiate the two is through their height, hair styles and clothing. Vina the older sister and the tallest between the two, she has rowdy and unkempt hair, she is currently wearing a white buttoned down shirt with a red necktie and a very short skirt with high socks and a pair of pink sneakers. Vina dreams of becoming a very famous rock star one day. Rina while holding a digital camera is currently wearing a green flannel jacket and skinny jeans along with a pair of black sneakers, her hair is also braided in pigtails. She dreams of becoming a journalist one day. These twins are well known to have a very financial family, in more common terms they are filthy rich.
"How's the picture?" Simon asks to Rina.
"Hmm... a bit blurry but I can manage, nothing a little editing can't fix." Rina says this with a very optimistic smile.
"So is today the day?" Vina's teasing question to Simon.
"Th-the day for what exactly?" Simon being once again flustered.
"Oh come on! When are you going to man up and ask her out on a date?" Vina says this with an expectant look on her face.
"I'm working on it okay." Clearly has an agitated look on his face.
"Okay dude chill, good luck with that plan of yours." She says this with an actual optimistic expression.
The twins proceeded to go to their respective seats that's near the door in the back of the classroom. Simon also went straight to his seat. Simon's chest started to tighten, he heard he's heart beat louder and louder. This is because of the fact that he is seated right next to Liz. He saw Elizabeth Swan Staring outside the window. She looks lovely as ever, with her fishtailed braided brown hair and her light brown skin. Liz is a hardworking student she studies hard and always shows effort with all her school works, she is also a black belt in karate. She doesn't have any plans on what her future should be like, but with her talents and skills the sky is the limit. She turns around and immediately sees Simon and waves at him. Simon stared directly into her green eyes and immediately looks away. He went to his seat with a gushing red face and finally sits down.
"Good morning Simon" She greeted him with a huge smile on her face only inches away from him.
"Go-good morning Liz" Simon is clearly glowing red. He tries to move inches away Liz's space. Although Liz closes that space and gets closer to Simon.
"What are you doing?" Simon's flustered question to Liz.
"Why are you moving away from me?" Liz's honest curiosity.
"I don't know... maybe it's something about personal space." Simon says that in a joking manner.
"So you don't like me anymore?" She pouts and looks away from Simon.
"N-no it's not like that I mean I do like you, b-but just as a friend, I-i mean for now at least, n-not saying that we can be together, j-just saying that there might be a chance, I-i'm not saying that you're not pretty I mean you're beautiful..." This goes on for quite some time and Liz just simply giggles at Simon.
"Can you two get a room?" Said by a chilling voice from the seat in front of Simon. It was Sebastian Luke Fer. He is Simon's best friend, he's very pale and very thin, he's hair is long enough to have bangs covering he's left eye. He's wearing a plain back long sleeved shirt. He is half German, at least that's what he tells people, he doesn't share a lot of personal information with people not even with Simon. Nevertheless Simon still trusts him because they've been best friends ever since they were little.
"Shut up Sebastian!" He says this while he's flustered.
"Whatever." Sebastian says this while smirking.
Liz did nothing other than just laugh at the two while they're arguing. Simon trying to reason out again this time to Sebastian, while Sebastian is still calm and collected and just kept on teasing Simon.
The teacher finally entered the classroom and instructed the students to sit properly and quit talking with one another. Everyone followed and class started. It was an agonizing hour of Math class. All of the students were waiting for the bell to ring and for this class to be over. Hours and multiple classes have passed and it's finally lunch time.
The group went to the cafeteria and ordered their usual go to foods. Simon ordered rice with some gravy and chicken, Liz ordered a salad, Sebastian just ordered yogurt, Rob ordered a cold pizza, Rina and Vina brought their home cooked foods that looks a lot like a five star meal, and Vicky also ordered a salad. They were just talking about random stuff until Liz asked Simon a question.
"So Simon any plans for tomorrow?"
"Nothing really. Why whats happening tomorrow?"
"Ha ha ha very funny... Wait are you for real you actually forgot your birthday?"
Simon was stunned, he did actually forget that it was his birth day tomorrow. Everyone except Vicky who is still eating, stared at him intently also shocked by the fact.
"I must've just forgotten, you guys wanna hangout tomorrow?" Simon awkwardly scratches the back of his head and smiles at his friends.
"Sure how about at your place?" Vina asks.
"Oh I really missed your cooking, are you going to cook?" Rina asks.
"I don't see why not, tomorrow I'll buy ingredients after school" Simon proclaims.
"I'll come with you." Sebastian added.
"I'll only come if Liz comes." Said Vicky.
"Of course I will." Said Liz.
"Then it's settled then party at Simon's house tomorrow" Rob says this while still chewing on some pizza.
After lunch they all went back to class. The bell rang telling everyone that school's over and that they can all go home. Everyone said their good byes and went their separate ways. Simon and Sebastian walk the same way going home and so they always walk together.
"I can't believe you actually forgot it was your birthday tomorrow?" Sebastian looks concerned.
"Yeah me too if Liz didn't remind me I still wouldn't have remembered."
"Speaking of Liz what happened to the plan of you telling her how you felt about her?" Sebastian stated teasingly.
"I-i forgot okay!" Again Simon is flustered.
"You're too obvious, when you're around her you revert back to being a child, I'm still surprised she hasn't figured it out yet."
"Oh shut up." Simon smiles, he likes these small chats with Sebastian.
Finally an intersection separates the two boys apart. Sebastian going to the left, while Simon continues forward. They fist bumped each other and went their separate ways.
It was already night and it's completely dark outside. Soon as Simon comes home he's father was no where in sight. Simon just assumes that he's in a bar drinking like usual. Simon took two pieces of bread from the refrigerator and spreads some chocolate Nutella on it, this is considered a dinner for Simon. He walks up stairs to his bedroom, drops his bag and he lies down flat, he opened his phone to look at some new messages. Mostly all of the messages were from his friends greeting him an advanced happy birthday, they also said that they are excited for tomorrow. Simon felt a little pressured but at the same time excited it's been a couple of months since the last time he cooked for his friends. The thought gave Simon a huge smile thinking that he was lucky to have friends like these. Simon took a fresh pair of pajamas and slept through the night.
It was raining, the side walk is wet. A group of people were standing around in front of an apartment complex. On the second floor a door with the numbers 206 is visible. Simon goes closer to the group of people huddled over. He pushes his way through the crowd. A dead body was clearly laying there, a woman wearing a red dress laying on the floor with a pool of blood. An odd looking violet flower was growing from the corpse chest still in bloom. Simon knelt down to take a closer look, until suddenly the corpse stood back up and choke Simon, she opened her eyes but those very eyes were absent only two deep holes can be seen, both crying and gushing out blood. The corpse spoke in a deep and yet chilling manner.
"Smell the pretty flowers"
Simon was struggling he didn't know what to do he was overpowered by this corpse until it snapped his neck and it made a sharp cracking sound.
Simon woke up screaming, he was sweating and breathing heavily. He looked at the time in his alarm clock indicating that it is 12:00 a.m. It's his birthday. He covers his eyes and rubs it vigorously. He lies back in bed staring at the ceiling.
"What was all that about?"

Melting Hearts
He’s the bravest man Ennoshita has ever met. Hinata comes close with his unstoppable drive and inhuman jumps, and Sugawara carries an indomitable strength he couldn’t help but envy when he was subbed in for Kageyama. But Daichi leads them through every game, through the losses and tears, keeping them focused on the victories hiding in the horizon.
Daichi is a natural born leader not just on the court, but from the moment he enters the gym. He directs their practices. He makes sure not a single volleyball is overlooked during cleanup. Just a mere glare from him is enough to freeze the first years in their tracks, and Ennoshita practices as hard as he can to mimic that sense of unwavering confidence.
He couldn’t ask for a better captain. Daichi’s kindness is unsurpassable, and his receives are flawless. He sparks positivity in even the darkest of times, upholding the very foundation of their team. He’s fearless.
But this… This look of utter bewilderment skewing Daichi’s face is new. He holds the bowl up as if it contains all the mysteries of the world, frowning when he finds only chocolate chips. “This is right,” he says, but the words drift uncertainly into a question.
Ennoshita hides an amused smile behind his hand. “Yes.” Daichi’s frown deepens. His brow wrinkles, and he prods the pot before him. When he pours the contents into a bowl, sizzling liquid drips out. Daichi scratches his head. “I think I missed a step.”
It’s more like he lingered on the cooking step for too long until the chocolate burned itself into a molten mess, but Ennoshita nods seriously. “You used butter?”
“Yes.” Daichi lifts the empty wrapper. It’s much more butter than they needed, and Ennoshita is almost relieved that this batch is a lost cause.
“And you stirred?” Ennoshita asks. He lifts the rubber spatula and examines it for burns. “Hmm. Must have been bad chocolate,” he concludes.
“I burned it, didn’t I?” Daichi stares at his distorted reflection on the size of the pot. “I didn’t know you could do that to chocolate.”
Ennoshita isn’t sure if he means burning chocolate or reducing it to a liquid state of sizzling oil. He decides it’s best not to ask. “Want to start the next batch?”
With renewed purpose, Daichi trades out the Chernobyl scene blackening the pot for a new one. Ennoshita sends a silent prayer for the teflon coating.
It’s a sweet endeavor for Daichi to make the girl’s volleyball team chocolate in honor of their success at surviving the first match of Spring High. When Daichi first made the suggestion, Ennoshita thought he was just letting him in on the surprise. He knows as well as anyone that Daichi is handy in the kitchen, his homemade bento boxes nearly securing Daichi a few proposals that he awkwardly escaped.
Chocolate, Ennoshita realizes, is Daichi’s weakness.
“Have you ever made pancakes?” Ennoshita asks. Picking up the piping bag, he turns back to his own project. In the time it took Daichi to broil his chocolate, Ennoshita’s had finished setting. Filling the bag with white chocolate, he pipes decorative lines along the hearts.
“Yeah.” Daichi keeps his eyes on the pot, not blinking. “I make them every morning for my siblings.”
“What about rice bowls?”
Daichi stirs with smooth, even strokes. “Yes, I’ve started teaching my little brother to make them. He has a hard time flipping the eggs.” A dark look crosses his face, the same as when he gets flashbacks of the vice principal’s wig landing on his head, and Ennoshita can already guess how the story ends.
Biting down on a chuckle, he asks, “Taiyaki?”
“Mhm. It’s my sister’s favorite.” Daichi pauses, glancing at Ennoshita. “Do you think I can’t cook?”
Watching the chocolate bubble precariously, Ennoshita subtly turns off the heat and says, “Of course not.” He picks up the half destroyed spatula. “But this… kinda speaks for itself.”
“Ennoshita.”
“Sorry. But you know…” Piping a happy face onto a chocolate heart, he hands it to Daichi. “With some practice, you’ll make something incredible.”
Daichi smiles at the heart, and when he looks up at Ennoshita, his smile growing, the heat that blooms in Ennoshita’s chest makes him think he’s more like the sun than even Hinata.
“You’re going to be a great captain one day. Oh. Oh dear.” He frowns at the smoke billowing from his pot.
Sighing fondly, Ennoshita goes to get the fire extinguisher. “I learned everything from you. Just"—he watches Daichi frantically throw the pot into the sink—"not your baking skills.”

Concerning The Coronavirus
Not the update I wanted to share, but something I feel a great need to speak up about, especially considering the fact that I’ve noticed a lot of the people who follow this blog are of the younger generation.
First things first; It’s okay to be scared.
Probably not what you thought I was going to say, but I also know that there’s a lot of people trying to down play things and giving off the vibe of “don’t worry, it’ll all blow over”. To a certain extent, they’re not wrong. In the latest reports, the virus still has not been properly contained and while there has been progress on a vaccine, there is no confirmed aide in properly finishing off this beastly disease. There is very, VERY little that the common person can really do to help out in that aspect of things, and that’s okay. It’s not your job to make a vaccine or perform medical assistance, don’t let yourself get dragged into that mess.
Yes, do practice safe habits, use your common sense. Cover your face when you cough or sneeze, preferably into your elbow or shoulder. Wash your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds to rid your hands of germs. If you are immunocompromised, such as chronic illnesses like asthma, do make an attempt at finding a mask or facial covering to minimize exposure. At this point, the virus is still a contact/fluid spread, so minimizing physical contact and exposure is paramount. No handshakes, no hugs, no kisses, none of that.
The coronavirus is being touted at being five times more deadly than the common cold and flu, which is terrifying to hear right up until you get the proper numbers on things. The flu that we all get vaccinated for every year has a 0.1% fatality rate. That’s 1/10th of a percent. Coronavirus has a fatality rate of 0.5%, and that was data from a study being done on the quarantined cruise ship, which is an enclosed environment with lots of close contact and high transference, thus making the data skewed by the environment. More to the point, what fatalities have occurred have majoritively been the elderly, with most being over 70. This is due to age causing increased immune system compromise, and having less ability to bounce back from the respiratory effects and high fevers.
At this point, I reiterate: It’s okay to be scared.
There’s nothing wrong with worrying, there’s nothing wrong with taking a moment to scream into a pillow and cry in the shower and otherwise let yourself have a freak out. I know I had mine, it developed into a three day depression slump where I didn’t shower, slept poorly and barely ate. I’m getting better, but it sucked and I know I feel bad about having gotten to that point, but it happened and that’s okay.
Here’s the MORE important point: Do not let your fear CONTROL you.
People are panicking all over the place, and the herd mentality of mankind says that you should be panicking too. Here’s the thing- Panic doesn’t help. Proper preparation DOES.
I went to my local WinCo yesterday to do my normal bi-weekly shopping and pick up a few extras to share with my household. I walked in and had to take a moment to just STARE at the people frantically buying as much paper products as they could get their hands on, as well as other so-called ‘essentials’. I walked down the aisles and found almost all the pasta and ramen bought up, but barely anyone bothering with the canned veggies and fruit. White flour was GONE, as well as all the bulk salt and a lot of the white sugar, but no one was bothering with any of the boxed mixes or chocolate or anything to add to any baked goods. Eggs and milk were fine, but bottled juice was annihilated, and yet no one bothered with the cans of Kerns or JuicyJuice. Cereal was normal right up until the instant oatmeal section. Plenty of deli meat and lots of loaves of bread as well as various condiments, frozen meals were demolished and no one even bothered with the frozen juices.
Everyone’s priorities have gone completely bonkers, and it feels like the end of the world, and you feel scared and helpless, and that’s okay. But don’t let it make you go bonkers and follow in the footsteps of these panic shoppers that have no idea what they’re doing. From someone who grew up with a grandmother that survived WW2 and a mother who grew up on wellfare, this is my advice on what your priorities should be while out shopping:
Shop like normal, just do about half again or double your normal shopping. Places are still being restocked right now, it’s okay to take your time and build up your stocks over time. Canned goods, especially veggies and fruits, are always nice to have even when there’s not a pandemic going on, so adding a couple of those plus some frozen goods is never a bad idea. Buy fresh as long as it’s available, bananas, apples, carrots and most peppers have a very good shelf life. Bread can be frozen, buy an extra loaf to set aside for later. Bulk rice is never a bad idea, but lentils are better if you can stomach them (some people have allergies). Nut butters are wonderful, same with jams, and PB’n’J sandwiches are a great fallback when all else fails. Saltines, crackers and chips have really good shelf stability, as do most packaged cookie brands, but I know I like to make cookies, so go ahead and get some boxed mix. It’s also fun to just cook and make things, and most things you can make at home you can freeze for later use.
It’s going to be Okay. Take a deep breath, and know that you’re doing what you can to stay safe and healthy, and that it’s not your fault that everyone is going nutty. It’s going to be Okay.

Tips for traveling far and alone
Because it's been a while since i did one of these lifehack things.
I spend a lot of time traveling for work, which means  I've gathered a few XP points and I have a System and shit. So have some tips. They're pretty geared towards how I like to travel, but a few of these could prob work for many people.
  Surviving a flight
When people say they love to travel, they mean that they like being places. Very few people like the actual 'getting there' part. It's stressful, there's waiting lines, you're forced to sit still for long periods of time and usually you have to get up at stupid hours. Being treated like cattle just isn't very fun, and it's not good for your health, either. So:
Rest. Airplanes are just… brimming with germs. The reason that this affects you more than, say, the multitude of germs on the subway you take every day, is because farther trips, especially of the 'party' or 'work' variety are utterly exhausting, and that affects your immune system. So while it is tempting to stuff as much as possible in that trip, know that you're 100% gonna get sick two days later. Try not to push yourself too much, and know that you're already being pushed in ways you're probably not used to.
For the same reason: take care of yourself. Stay hydrated. Keep nourishment upon your person. Try to eat a filling, healthy meal with like vitamins and shit before you leave.
Hand sanitizer is a Gift. See above: brimming with germs. So wash your hands before eating or touching your face. In my experience, however, the sinks in those tiny bathrooms on plane or trains are about as gross as the rest of the stall. This is where hand sanitizer comes in.
Staying fed on a budget
Here's the thing about staying hydrated and healthily fed: airport food, ferry food and train station food is usually super expensive. The prices in the Starbucks at my local airport are at least 50 percent higher than the one in the centre of town, and that is Tourist Central. And this is fine. It makes sense from a business perspective. It's not like you can go anywhere. And if you're going on that one big holiday of your dreams (or if you're just, ya know, rich), go ahead and splurge on fancy sushi. But I've been in the Eurostar waiting room four times in the span of two weeks, and you kinda don't want to splurge every time, ya know.
Bring snacks. You are absolutely allowed to bring food through a security check. Airport security doesn't allow a specific amount of liquid but it says nothing about sandwiches, homemade cookies or fruit.
Bring filling food. While you're at it: don't just bring food, but make sure it'll last. My mom, when I was little and went on school trips, would always make me egg sandwiches, which is a thing I still occasionally do. Mostly, you don't want to bring white bread with nutella, because you'll get a sugar spike, right in the middle of 'expensive food town' or worse, somewhere above the Atlantic. So egg sandwiches work, rice balls work, heck, I've brought banana bread or pancakes with rye flower and a lot of nuts in them. Whatever works.
The caveat here is obviously country quarantines. You can't bring cultures and live plants and bugs and stuff. If you're like going to Australia or New Zealand, bring only pre-packaged snacks, or make sure you finish them on the plane.
Do the water bottle trick. You know those bins before security where you're supposed to deposit all your empty bottles? Those are bullshit. You're not allowed to bring *liquids*. An empty bottle is fine (of course this depends heavily on the airport and the mood of security agents that day, don't argue with them, just… don't). In my experience, I've been perfectly able to bring an empty water bottle with me through security, just to fill it at a water fountain later on. I'll admit that this is a Very Cheap trick, but I like having water with me at all times, ok?
  Packing for experts
I don't like overloading myself. Few things bother me more than those stupid trolley things that get in the way of everything and that you're basically stuck with, so I try to make two/three day trips on just a backpack and like a tote. This is a challenge, considering I treck around with a heavy laptop and like a Nintendo Switch and two smartphones.  And all the cables needed to keep those things running. Here are some tricks:
Don't bother with shampoo. Heavily dependent on the hotel you're staying, but business hotels will always have soap and shampoo for you. The good ones have conditioner as well. Is it shitty? Yes. Is it worth bringing your own bottle over that? Usually not.
Pack whatever the bare essentials are for you. By which I mean don’t just go by the checklist you got off the internet. No, not even this one. For me, the bare essentials are a toothbrush, toothpaste, make-up for being fancy, deodorant and way too much hand cream. Do try to stay somewhat comfortable, it's a trip, not a punishment.
Speaking of bare essentials: ear plugs will save, if not your life, then at least your sleep pattern. Most methods of transportation, and some hotels, are loud AF. You don't want to wear those headphones while trying to sleep.
Roll your clothes. I got this off of a very old Lifehacker article and that shit works ok? Put your outfit flat on the bed, one layer over the next. Fold in the sides and roll the whole thing into a tight cylinder. Once cylinder per outfit/day.  Shove said cylinders into your bag for remarkably wrinkle-free outfits at the end of the line.
Jeans are overrated (don’t @ me) Unless you're only wearing one pair of pants, why would you bring jeans? They're chunky and thick and heavy. Made for weathering hard labour, not for sitting in a plane seat for eight hours. Same goes for chunky knit sweaters. Pretty, comfy and warm, but they take up So Much Space.
You know what's great? Leggings. I say this as a rotund lady, whose travel uniform is leggings, sneakers and a tunic. That shit takes up almost no space, it's comfortable and if you get the right fabrics, it doesn't wrinkle. Also: counts as business casual.
Layers are your friend. Weather is notoriously unpredictable and climate change is a thing. I was in the UK in friggin october and it was 25 degrees and sunny. You can't really prepare for that, so layer. Bring a lightweight jacket, bring a thin shawl.
Wear comfy shoes. I shouldn't have to say this because life is too short to wear shitty shoes, but if you're going to travel, for the love of all that is holy don't do it in painful shoes. You will Always Walk More than you expected. Even if they drop you off at the airport. Airports are huge. The Underground or Metro has surprisingly long hallways to traverse, just finding your hotel may take a walk. And also: what's the point of going to some city abroad if you're not going to walk that city? You're flying all the way over there to see the inside of a convention hall? Fuck that.  Walk the city. Experience culture. Go friggin shopping.
Get a good bag. It's not very professional looking to travel for work with a backpacker bag, so I see a lot of those leather bags that double as a trolley. They're invariably hideous. Luckily there are better options. People who know me have heard me wax poetic about my backpack, which is pretty much a Tardis. You can fit ridiculous amounts of stuff in there considering that it counts as a laptop bag for cabin baggage. Extra tip: if you're going the overstuffed route, make sure the zippers are of the chunky type. I have broken zippers on several bags already, the thin ones really can't take too much strain.
  Safety and stuff
Staying safe and comfortable when traveling alond doesn't have to be too hard.
If you're the careful type you probably already do this but: use the chain on your hotel room door. Most hotels let you use a chain or bolt, as well as some kind of simple hand lock, on top of your keycard. This is important, because hotels are still a public place and those keycards are meant to be used by more than one person. I have a tendency to hang out in my hotel room in my underwear, (it is one of the joys of traveling alone, don't judge me), and I've had cleaning staff just show up in my room in the middle of the day. That is their job. I've also had people try to come into my room thinking it's their room, while I was in the tub. Shit happens. So if you're in your room, keep it locked. That little chain or bolt keeps pretty much everyone out.
Be aware. One of the issues of traveling alone, is that you don't have a buddy to have your back. This means you have to keep your own security. Now I'm not a very scared person; I will walk an unknown city by myself, even at night, but i'm also not stupid. Stick to main roads, don't flaunt expensive gadgets, don't get drunk. You know the drill. Basically be aware of your surroundings.
Do attempt to blend in. It will make you less of a target, though I do realize that some ethnicities will stand out in certain places, regardless of what they do. In general, most large cities are a mix of races and languages, and even then you can pick out an Obvious Tourist because their whole deal is their Otherness. The clothes they wear, the way they act and talk, it screams that they view this whole area as a zoo. People don't really like that. So adjust, a little, if you can, to the vibe of the place you're in. It could be about walking speed, level of politeness, Commuter Resting Bitch Face. It is definitely also about standing on the right side of the escalator, and not blocking traffic. Little things. Get ye a coffee and a window seat and just watch people for a while to pick up on it. Pretend like you're in a romantic coming of age film while doing it.
  The interbots abroad
There are essentially only three things I cannot live without when traveling: passport, credit card, internets. The first two are obvious (the credit card is for buying underwear in case everything else gets lost). The internets are for things like maps, companionship, and freaking out over private message when things somehow go wrong. It’s a great comfort.
Roaming sucks: the best thing the EU did in the past few years is get rid of roaming charges. So if you have a european phone subscription, any mobile data used in most EU countries will just go off your regular tab. But usually, roaming in other countries is Ridiculously Expensive, so you would  have to buy a burner phone or local card (which is getting harder), or you're stuck with wifi.
Funny thing about hotels: the fancier they are, the more they charge for wifi, on average. Your basic motel will have free wifi, the friggin Hilton will charge your per hour and have next to no plugs. It's getting a little better, because honestly, who charges for wifi, but if you're in this situation, consider the alternatives.
Get coffee. Starbucks is pretty much everywhere and it's a good place to get your internets on. Yes, the coffee is expensive, but still cheaper than hotel wifi, and as a bonus you get coffee. Furthermore, it has popularized the idea that coffee shops need free wifi, so you'll find plenty of local cafés that offer it as well. In the US you could also try like McDonalds or other places that offer it (tip: this usually does not work in Europe; McD's wifi in Europe is generally Awful).
VPN's, at least the free ones, are fairly useless. Most of them will not get through, for instance China's censorship wall, and several are also just a thin front for collecting your data. Honestly, if you're going to a country with strict internet rules and you won't be staying long, it's probably easier to just stay under the radar.
Speaking of radar: clear your devices of any incriminating things before hopping borders. Especially if you're going to the weird places. The US border police might confiscate your laptop and charge you for stolen mp3's, for instance. Some countries' border police may attempt to have you log into social accounts. Put on, at the very least, two-factor authentication to stop anyone swiping your credentials. Better yet, back up your devices and put them back on factory settings before crossing particularly challenging borders.
