it’s giving Tired Single Dad™ at the playground watching his toddler from the bench so he doesn’t get hurt
Tumblr media
grogu falls down and he just shouts “walk it off buddy”
another child is playing with a toy grogu wants and when he uses the force to get said toy back you hear din from a distance “what did we say about using the force on other kids hm? give it back”
an exasperated “no, don’t eat that”
din dragging grogu from the playground after one too many duel attempts

Because the “shrodinger’s queerbait” nonsense will never go away, indulge me an analogy (and a long post).
wlw ships are the “made from scratch” cake in a world where we only ever expect cake mix from the box.
Say you have a show where, in the first interaction between a male and female character, there is a red box. It could be a Betty Crocker box of cake mix. Because all it takes is just one smile — one wink — one raised eyebrow— and the fans don’t question it. We’re clearly making a cake here. The box is red.
Meanwhile, you have two female characters building their own relationship that have elements that could build to romance. There are eggs in the fridge. A few more episodes, there’s flour in the pantry. Sugar. Baking powder. Queer fans start whispering…we could be making a cake here. Other fans scoff “you will read into anything. They’re just eggs! Everyone has eggs in their fridge!” Maybe so, maybe not. They are written off as discrete ingredients, nothing to see here.
That red box is still sitting in the pantry. Obviously we’re going with that one, and it’s definitely cake mix. That guy and girl stood next to each other again.
The wlw relationship is now full-on batter. It was a cake recipe all along, but it’s not baked yet. The crowd that wrote off every ingredient is now saying the writers are just going to “squander” that box that could be ready-made cake mix or that they’re being “forced” to bake a cake with the very ingredients the writers deliberately bought and put in their pantry.
Now it’s in the oven, the cake is baking. That crowd will still insist it’s forced, or maybe its actually something else, or it’s rushed, or it’s pandering. Whether the writers painstakingly built a pantry to make the cake they truly wanted or they were cultivating good ingredients and realized they had the fixings for a more decadent cake and went there, it doesn’t matter. It’s still a recipe. One that fans who always have to piece together ingredients had hoped for or saw from the get-go, despite being scoffed at and disparaged. Just because that crowd didn’t see (or refused to see) those ingredients as part of a whole, doesn’t make it any less of a recipe.
And wlw fans shouldn’t have to keep writing essays to demonstrate that the wlw “cake” has all the ingredients every cake mix does, or keep pointing out that fans were ready to believe a cake was being baked when they saw a nondescript box, but that they’ll do anything to discredit or doubt the cake from scratch that’s now cooling off on the counter.
It is partly a function of heteronormativity from the audience in immediately seeing romance in any whisper of interaction between m/f characters and passing off all charged interactions between female characters are sisterly or platonic. And it also comes from writers, who are either being cautious so as not to spook corporate overlords or audiences, or who are preserving plausible deniability.
To take the analogy further, box cake mix is fine! It works! It is, practically speaking, what a lot of folks know by default. I thought I was a Duncan Hines girl once myself. Vanilla cake mix has the ingredients measured out, it’s a safe bet, it tastes like cake.
But it doesn’t mean every red box is cake mix. And it doesn’t make the cake that had to be pieced together from scratch due to censorship, caution, time, narrative build-up, what-have-you, any less of a cake.

When people say peeta is weak, I feel you should see the facts that show you otherwise! I mean this boy has had his heart stop three times! And in in the quell he comes out of an RCP, and he had to inmediately keep running for his life! His heart stopped! You know where people go after coming out a heart arrest? Intensive care! And they stay hospitalized for days. And just to say that most people just don’t come out of that. So yeah, this is the strongest boy, end.

i feel so much about delta you guys
red vs blue really looked at me and said here is our logic fragment. this is the logic man. he feels logic. he has a strong survival drive. but also he loved york enough to be willing to die with him.
sigma wanted so fucking bad to be human, to be whole, to chase what they came from and what they were. that he totally missed the fact that delta fucking made it. Delta was more than the Logic Fragment. He had his own bonds, his own wants, his own drive because of his relationship with York.
And in his attempt to become whole again, Sigma... completely undermined that. Made delta into the Logic Fragment again. just another fragment, not a person of his own.
do you ever think about how if sigma had slowed down and really tried to work with maine, that maybe things could have gone so so differently?
i think about that.

ripping my hair out screaming throwing up being spiderman as a metaphor for being queer the essay is writing itself okay okay okay. so the metaphor is more interpretation in the first one but not this time baby!!!!! they fully went into it okay okay listen. being spiderman means being queer. gwen doesn’t come out to her father because she fears rejection the same way that miles does. they both fear their parents asking why they “lied” to them about who they are which queer people sometimes get when they come out, that they have been hiding and lying to their loved ones. when gwen does come out she does not get a good response and therefore she runs away to be with more spider people (i e more queer people). miles has been feeling alone and once gwen is back he no longer feels like he’s alone and when he sees the life she gets to live with all these other queer people, he wants in. HOWEVER. his experiences of being queer are not the norm, they’re not what everyone else experiences, and he doesn’t want the experiences to be the same. he doesn’t want to be in pain and he doesn’t want others to be either. as a result, he’s shunned by the people who should be a part of his community and should be the ones to accept him no matter what. it could be argued that this is a metaphor for assimilationist queer and radical queers. the people who believe you have to fit in/suffer to be accepted and the people who are loud and angry and won’t stand for that. when gwen comes back it turns out that her father was going to accept her after he reflected and realized that she was more important than any preconceptions he had about her based on who she was (also do not get me started on the trans colors in the scene where she’s talking to her dad. something something trans (color) coding on a scene where a person demands respect and demands that the other person know that they are not a danger and simply doing their best to be good in a massive movie that many people are going to watch in the midst of horrifying anti trans violence i Will cry). as a result of realizing that they don’t need to conform and be what anyone tells them to be both inside their community and out, they create their own community where they can make the change that they need to. i think that’s most of what i have to say. i need to watch this movie several more times.

Yada Yada something something Ultrakill V1 being unable to speak but having its primary facial feature being an eye that at least in fan content is extremely emotive and canonically has really good optics, and in 2-S, Mirage has it being used basically as eyebrows and such contrasted to Gabriel's unmoving helmet and 0 physical emoting but his fucking awesome extremely expressive voice but their obvious paralels of being made for someone elses purpose, Gabriel just acting and being directed as the hand of god and when he messes up having his only connection to meaning painfully ripped out of him, thus needing to continue the violence he was made for or else he dies and V1 being built for war and thus needing to perpetuate the violence to stay alive because of its need for blood as fuel and how they are both just following orders and are doomed to fail and they both have extremely limited time left and I cannot wait for act 3 yada yada something something

Yo if it’s okay, for the character bingo can you do Kogoro, the sleeping detective himself?
Tumblr media
OH SURE I GUESS IT'S OKAY
Yeah no big surprises here. I don't even know if I can articulate why I like him so much. He's one of the main characters (although you'd be forgiven for thinking he wasn't) so he's in the show a lot, and there's a lot of little breadcrumbs to work off of even if he doesn't get Big Stuff too often. Like most of the time he's just a drunk dumbass dad who sucks in every way, and btw he's a godlike shot. He's a judo expert. He can place Time of Death super precisely somehow. He's willing to chase down an armed robber with zero regard for his personal safety.
He's such a stagnant character in canon that he's one of the most fun to Do Shit With. Like what if he knows about Conan's identity? What if he found out? What if he's not as stupid as he seems, at least not all the time? What if he found out about the black org? What if he's the black org boss???? (Ridiculous but an interesting thought experiment.) What if what if what if-- Because there's all these little pieces of his character that have made him compelling I'M PRETTY SURE BY ACCIDENT. Making him one of the show's best shooters right under Akai is a fking insane detail and it was made up for Movie 2 when Gosho wanted to make him bad at that too, like he likes to make Kogoro bad at everything.
I criticized Sera for being Good At Everything and Canon Kogoro is the opposite, he's made bad at everything as a joke, which makes the strengths he's allowed to have shine brightest. Because it makes you question how he got those skills, and how he still turned out like this. Can he ever get better? If not for himself, then for someone else?

Yes don't ask me why, canonically Akashi Senju and Haru have their youtube channel
Chifuyu has Instagram only to report Peke J Adventures everyday, and that's where the username comes from. Peke has 1 million followers and fans go crazy especially seeing the videos, where he walks cutely in the street and enjoy the meals Chifuyu treats him with.
Ran wanted an haitanibrothers account but Rindou refused because it was too cringe

What are your top 5 payurain moments?
WE INTERRUPT YOUR POSSIBLY UNWANTED LONE STAR SPAM TO TALK ABOUT MY LOVES PAYURAIN! In no particular order because I literally can't just choose a number one spot!
PayuRain's first meeting. My gosh it was literal perfection????? Payu being the gentleman he is and stopping to change a complete strangers flat tire! Him being moved that Rain would stand out in the rain and hold an umbrella for him. Like he totally wasn't expecting to meet such a sweet and cute boy while performing a random good deed. Rain being in absolute awe at how GORGEOUS Payu was??? Everything about their first meeting had me well fed. It was love at first sight.
Tumblr media
Rain trying to cheer P'Payu up after his first run-in with Stop Sign. It reminds of how truly sweet Rain is and how he knows exactly what to say to get Payu to smile again. Him playing the 'wifey' because he knows Payu loves it and ultimately not stopping until Payu smiled. Also...we know what happened after that and Rain admitted that he loved to see Payu smile.
Tumblr media
The Daddy Couch scene. I wished and prayed for it and MAME/MeMindY delivered. Rain played Payu right into his hands. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing and he knew EXACTLY what he wanted from his man. Idk man it is honestly one of the best love scenes out there, so well choreographed.
Tumblr media
The bathroom stall scene. Gawd Payu really put on the dom hat heavy in the first few eps. He really needed to drive home to Rain that he was the alpha and that stall scene was all about control. Rain didn't know what was happening to him in that tiny stall but it was intoxicating and probably annoying.
Tumblr media
PayuRain's engagement. DUH! I just love seeing Rain be so confident and proud of the man he was. He was no longer questioning if he could stand at Payu's side. He knew the ring was coming. Payu's proposal was beautiful and the way he couldn't take his eyes off Rain even with all the confetti and cheering in the background. It was just a satisfying proposal.

PS. I NEED MORE BOSSNOEUL ON MY SCREEN!

Funny how the first time Castiel is mentioned in the show it's during an episode (3x06) with a ghost SHIP.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some great accidental foreshadowing as per usual. Accidental for sure this time, because how could they have predicted what was going to happen with this ship?

inspired by this post
i know the books are lighthearted children's stories but gods i would love a grown up version of the pevensie siblings' experience with narnia.
it's a fairytale the way c.s lewis wrote it, and i adore his story (though i have some gripes with it as well), but if you put yourself in their shoes ? it's traumatizing.
being ripped away from england, thrust into this other world and told you're meant to save it from a great evil as a child. lucy was (almost) kidnapped, edmund was manipulated, drugged and nearly killed. they all fought a war that should not have been theirs. then they grew up in this world, separated completely from all the people they ever knew in england. and then that is ripped away.
a year later, finally starting to adjust to living in england again, being children again, they are once again called to narnia. they are happy, at first. but then reality hits. their dear cair paravel has become ruins. everyone they knew and loved in narnia are gone. they no longer recognize this narnia, and the new narnians do not recognize them. they only know the legends.
