hi clem! thank u for your patience! i wasn’t sure how i wanted to go about this since my normal go-to, loona, is currently out due to boycott reasons (general reminder for everyone else to stop listening to them on spotify/apple music/youtube and any other streaming platforms btw). 

anyways!! i picked some of my favorite groups and sorted them in order of most well-known to least known :) then i picked just a few songs from each group to help give u an idea of what the group’s vibe is. 

twice: i feel like you can’t do a kpop introduction without them...they’re iconic in every way. TT, What is Love, and Fancy are their three most popular; personally i really love Feel Special and Yes or Yes. 

seventeen: my current boy group...Aju Nice is iconic!! i also really like Rock with You, Don't Wanna Cry, and Cheers. 

red velvet: this was actually my first kpop group ever...they are so special to me. most popular tracks would be Psycho, Bad Boy, and Peek-a-Boo; i’m a huge fan of Really Bad Boy and Feel My Rhythm as well. 

stayc: they made a splash when they debuted with So Bad and have continued to make waves with their good music! personally I’m a huge fan of Stereotype and Run2U. 

billlie: they’re sooo underrated in my opinion like have you heard about billlie? no? well you should. Gingamingayo is probably their most famous track; personally i adore Ring Ma Bell and flipp!ng a coin as well. 

h1-key: my nugu girlies <3 they debuted last year with Athletic Girl and they just released their first mini album, rose blossom! the title track, Rose Blossom, is really pretty. they also released Run last year, which is a really fun summer-y song imo.

of course, none other than king943 hSJADJSAJHAS. He’s a little secret I’ll let you all in on: the first person I actually noticed in TXT was,,,,,,, Kang Taehyun hSDHJAHJSDAHSA but he wasn’t my bias. I just thought he was cute (also amused me bc my BTS bias was Taehyung and I found a guy named Taehyun cute), but I didn’t stan them then. I started stanning when I saw ONE DREAM.TXT where they talked to BTS and found them really cute and endearing. Honestly, this would depend. If I’m reading a book and feeling very vintage with a hot cup of coffee, definitely a rocking chair. If I’m watching TV and basically just chilling I’d go for Bean Bag. I like maintaining the atmosphere.

I view it as in-between, because there’s always room for improvement. There’s always things to change, and consider, and make better. There’s no such thing as perfect.

favorite season and why

Winter! Even if I’ve never experienced snow or winter before, the whole idea of snow is just really fun and endearing to me. One of my bucketlists is to see snow in real life. I think it has to do with the fact that I’ve always been this person to prefer the cold over heat.

what made you enter tumblr?

I’ve always been here! Just not in kpop tumblr. I’ve since deleted my old accounts and shame  but i came back to write. It’s always been so stress-relieving to me, to write without any expectations on my back because I’m thinking about grades or a competition. Also Soobin simping is a daily thing and I gotta release it somewhere man

are you happy with where you are in life right now? why or why not?

Yes. I may not be the richest or the prettiest, or smartest or whatever, but I have a good family that loves me. I have good friends that support me and I have TXT and BTS to help me cope when things get overwhelming. I have a job that gives me a little bit of income (it’s not too common for college students here to get jobs like in the US, most of them just focus on acads) and all the means to continue my education amidst the pandemic. So really, I’m grateful for where I am now.

to see the boys in real life but for it to happen only once in your lifetime, or to meet the boys via online fan meeting as many times as you can in your lifetime? why?

Why do you have to do me dirty cj,,,,, prolly online. I may not get to hug them or anything but I get to talk to them still. As may times as I want to. First of all, Kpop is not just simply pop music, as the name suggests. Within the genre kpop are actually many different genres of music mingled and there’s something nice for (almost) everyone to find. I’ll give you some information about my favourite groups that might help you find what you could like. I will also link mostly title songs as they are the more popular songs and usually have a music video (kpop music videos are always very aesthetic btw).

Starting off with my ultimate favourite group Stray Kids. They are still rookies as they debuted in March 2018 but I’ve fallen in love with them and their music so much that I highly recommend you checking them out. They are a 9 member boy group with three of those members, Bang Chan, Changbin and Han (knowns as 3RACHA) writing and composing all of their songs. 3RACHA has been releasing pre-debut mixtapes on Souncloud throughout 2017 and if you like hip hop/rap music, you should definitely give them a listen. The three leaders also created a SVT Leaders unit for their song Change Up. They mainly release ot13 songs with one of their members, called Woozi, being the main composer but they also released songs in their respective units. Some recs are:

jkghdjsfk i know i didn’t i’m really sorry…. i had recorded a lot my first week i was here and a lot on my field trip but partially because my laptop is super old i can’t figure out how to upload all the clips from my phone onto it (photos won’t like import all the vids and i can’t figure out how to get the others onto my comp which i’m rly sad abt) and it’s super slow so i can barely even run my video editing app :( ideally i still wanna be able to upload smth but idk how…

as for going back home i’ve just personally decided for myself that i feel a year is too long for me to be away from home. it’s been my dream to study abroad as well, and literally nothing abt me wanting to go home has anything bad to do with korea… i’ve actually just become too overwhelmed with the fact that i’ve never lived in a dorm before nonetheless in a major city/a city that is on the other side of the world, also i was placed way too high in korean and the process of switching classes and feeling sorta unwelcomed and judged in both just put a damper on me. i know that sounds really dumb to say but part of me even now has become paranoid that everyone here hates me and i even get worried that when i leave the room during break they all talk abt me dfkgjhfdsjk idk i’m just too stressed. and i also wasn’t approved for housing for the fall and the whole having to find a goshiwon process is just really stressful esp bc i’ve been really sick for over a week now and have missed 2 days of school (taking 2 classes one of which is a 3 hr long intensive lang class so i’v missed a lot of material) i’m just kinda… i feel like i can’t keep up fdjkghfdjs idk i’m sorry i’m kinda ranting

but also like i graduated from hs in 2012 and i’m STILL doing my undergrad and like my major isn’t even smth that’s gonna earn me a lot of money so i really just want to hurry up and graduate already so that i can go to grad school? because then i think i would feel would be a right time for me to study abroad but personally for myself right now i feel it’s just not the right time for me even though i’ve waited years for this, but now that it’s happening i just still feel i’m not fully ready to commit to it yet

as for just studying abroad in korea for the summer the best way i can describe it is that it’s just been super different. i’m white and come from a small white town in new england so coming to korea was still a huge culture shock for me even though i major in east asian studies and have focused myself more on korean studies in particular, it’s just still something that needs to be fully experienced by visiting. i felt it was so enriching to be put in the place of being the ‘foreigner’ for my first time and having to rely on my own language skills and actually applying the knowledge from my whole major to come to understand korea more. i know a summer in korea is literally just scratching the surface but it’s been a great introduction to really understanding asia on a more realistic level rather than just studying about it from the comfort of my own country. people here are extremely friendly and i’ve loved being able to actually apply my korean skills here (even though my speaking is my worst jkhgxf) but my listening has TREMENDOUSLY improved and i’ve begun to understand more social cues, etc. being in korea has also given me more of a realistic view of korea outside just the kpop world that many of us only seem to limit ourselves to (not all of course), i’ve been able to have actual korean food and experience some time actually being able to live in a city and visit lots of historical places as well. no tipping and being able to walk around with alcohol with no restrictions is gonna be smth i’ll definitely miss going home LMAO but please don’t think that because i don’t feel i’m ready to commit a full year to korea that you should reconsider or anything!! i personally just don’t feel it’s the right time for me and want to finish my undergrad, but if you want to come to korea, fckin do it!!!
