I absolutely adore your worldbuilding, it’s not overwhelming and feels natural and smooth, how do you do it??? I struggle a lot with worldbuilding so do you have any tips? It always ends up feeling clunky whenever I try to include information about the world when writing (I think I have a problem with oversharing in my stories…)

I'm so glad you enjoy my worldbuilding!!! Oooo this is actually such a cool question I love it lemme think lemme think...

Ok, to avoid feeling clunky or oversharing, I think one of the best pieces of advice I can give is to only discuss what would be relevant to the characters in the moment. That's how you keep things feeling natural and smooth instead of looking like an exposition dump.

Let's take our fiery boy Tango in TTSBC for example!

When Tango is having a moment with his abandonment issues (poor boy) he is going to consider why he feels that way. He feels that way because his Pyre abandoned him at ten years old for his weakness.

Why? Well, Tango knows! And he's gonna tell you about it in his POV!

It makes perfect sense to have him thinking about that and running those facts around in his head because he's hurting. So I use this moment to explain what blaze-born Pyres are, how they work, why they kicked him out, and how they fit into the under-city as a whole...and it doesn't feel clunky, because of course Tango would be thinking about blaze-born Pyres, it's because of his Pyre that he has these abandonment issues! It's just apart of the story, it's relevant info! What I would avoid from this point is going to deep into, like, how the Cat Clans work from here, because that's not relevant to Tango...maybe he'd give like a passing anecdote about them, and if he does I try to make sure I connect it to why he knows this info.

Why would he know about Cat Clans? He's good friends with Lizzie! Ok, so I'll throw in something like...

"Lizzie had told Tango, once, that Cat clans weren't the same as Pyres. Located within the mid-levels and more interconnected with the main cavern of the under-city, they valued their own, and were protective of their young...Tango had tried to keep down a sting of jealousy when she was talking about it. Her clan had loved her. Kept her. Raised her to be strong and what had Tango's pyre done? Thrown him away."

So there's a little worldbuilding about cat clans kinda just mixed in with Tango's angst train with his thoughts on his Pyre, but because he's comparing the Cat Clans to the Blaze-born Pyres, it still fits and makes sense...like, it's something that would fit in his POV

I dunno if I'm making sense I feel like I'm rambling but this is fun so I'll keep going 😆

Another good thing to do is try to set up situations where a character needs to have something explained to them! Of course, this can get overused and feel clunky if you're not careful, but in an AU like TTSBC where by the point of the story half the characters are left in the dark about a lot of stuff (ZED 😭) then it makes sense that they would have stuff explained to them!

OH OH OH ALSO!

For environmental stuff keep in mind what the character whose POV you are in would notice! For example, when I write from Jimmy's POV he always notices the weather! If the sky is blue, or overcast, if it's sunny or looks like rain, because the sky is so important to him. From Scott's POV, he doesn't notice things like that often, but he does notice what people around him look like in more detail because he's very attuned to reading people by their ticks. From Scott's POV things like tilts of the head or shifts of the eyes show up a lot more than Jimmy's, but in Jimmy's POV you're sure as hell gonna know what the forecast is 😆 Does that make sense?

This was so much fun! I never really thought to hard about how I write from a worldbuilding perspective so having a think on it and trying to explain it was super cool! I hope this helped some! 💖

I HAVE RETURNED FROM THE FNAF MOVIE AND I HAVE SOME THOUGHTS

I had such a fun time with this movie! There were a ton of Easter eggs I caught and I’m sure there’s a few that I missed! My best advice for anyone wanting to see this movie is don’t take it super seriously, you’ll enjoy it more! The makers of this film weren’t lying when they said that they made this movie for the fans, I do feel like fans will enjoy this movie way more than a general audience and that’s perfectly fine! It’s campy at some parts and funnier than I thought it would be, but that’s what made it so fun! Now for the nitty-gritty…

What I liked…

• First off, Matthew Patrick is a fucking LIAR! He does have a cameo in the movie, he says his iconic “That’s just a theory” line which was great! He’s a waiter at a diner, which leads me to my next point

• The diner was named “Sparky’s”, which I feel like only OG fans will get the reference. But for those of you who don’t know, back when FNAF 1 came out, there was a rumor of a secret/rare animatronic in the game called Sparky the Dog. There was a fake image floating around showing him standing in the door to parts and service. This was later confirmed to be fake. BUT! In the movie they also have a dog-looking animatronic in the parts and service room which absolutely took me out lol

• Acting was great! Everyone was fun to watch, Josh Hutcherson was a great lead as Mike and Piper Rubio was so sweet as Abby but I gotta give my props to Matthew Lillard towards the end of the movie, he looked like he was having so much fun being this unhinged monster! Speaking of…

• There is a spring lock scene!! It is real!! And God was it cathartic to watch! Obviously being PG-13, they couldn’t do blood and guts galore, but I think they managed to pull it off pretty well! Afton’s scene was definitely my favorite in the film hands down! And yes, he gets his “I always come back” line which put 5 years back on my life if I’m being honest lmao

• There is blood in this movie! Not a gratuitous amount, but it was enough for what they were going for I think! The kills of the people breaking to Freddy’s were more entertaining to watch than I thought! Especially Freddy’s kill…that caught me completely off guard lmao

• There aren’t too many jumpscares but that was fine with me! They do this repeat jumpscare with a little figurine of Balloon Boy like 3 times and I thought it was funny every time! They do a really good job with tension in this movie!

• The animatronics!!!! LOVED THEM!!!! They were so detailed and well designed, they were so fun to watch!! The Jim Henson company did an absolutely stellar job with the designs, I want to hug them 🥺

• So the story…I thought it was fine! They do stray from canon by making Vanessa Afton’s daughter in the movie instead of Mike being his son. They do confirm Afton was the one who kidnapped and killed Mike’s brother Garrett. The story is kind of left open ended as if they could continue the story (which I hope they do), but I think it leaves a more or less satisfying ending!

• There’s a minor mid-credit scene with Cory Kenshin and a secret message at the very end of the credits. I couldn’t hear it well but it’s spelled-out letters exactly like the ones from the death minigames in FNAF 2

• Yes, The Living Tombstone’s FNAF song is in the end credits, I felt my soul leave my body 😭

Minor Negatives…

• The story is slow at the beginning, it takes a little bit for anything super interesting to take place

• There are some plot points that don’t get explained or resolved (which is par for the course for FNAF) but that leads me to believe that they want to make sequels which I am all here for

• The Aunt Jane character wasn’t super important, she was fine, but she was there just to serve as an antagonist to Mike for a whole 5 minutes of the movie, if that

• I wanted so much more Afton/Spring Bonnie time, it was too short for me but I am happy with what I got. Also, he didn’t wear any purple in the movie which I think is a crime 😂

• Kind of wish there was an R rated version of this movie even though FNAF isn’t known for being bloody and gory, but some parts felt a little tame

• Also please correct me if I’m wrong but, they didn’t use the Toreador March music at all?? If I missed it, please tell me but I was waiting to hear it and it never came from what I remember

Speculation…

• So the biggest plot issue for me was that they never explained Afton’s intentions for killing. I think fans of the games know why he’s killing, but the general audience won’t. I’m sure it has something to do with the saw blade machine that tries to stuff your head into Freddy’s head. But it wasn’t clear. Vanessa never gave us a straight answer either even though she was in on it from the beginning.

• Towards the beginning of the movie, Abby is shown to be talking to her “invisible friend”, this is before Mike is hired as Freddy’s security guard. Turns out that friend is the ghost kid who possess Golden Freddy/Fredbear (again, isn’t clear lol). I wanna know why that kid showed up before Mike and Abby even went to the location??

• I may be reading too much into this, but when Mike goes in to get a new job after being fired from his mall security guard job, he’s talking to “Steve” and Steve does something interesting. He’s berating him for his inability to hold down a job, the he looks at his name on the file and just goes “…Mike S…” and just, doesn’t finish saying his name. He looks at Mike really weird like he’s trying to find something, and then just completely changes the subject. IDK, I’ll probably have to watch it again, and I think it would be a stretch to go the “Mike Afton” route especially since they established Vanessa was his kid. But ya never know with FNAF 😂

• Also the secret message that was spelled out at the end of the credits. If any of y’all know what they spelled, please tell me because I could not figure it out! I would love to know what it said!

Conclusion…

I just had a blast with this movie! I wasn’t sure what to expect with this movie but I think Blumhouse and everyone who worked on this movie did an amazing job, you can tell they put so much heart and soul into this! I will patiently be awaiting the announcement of the next movie until then!

I have a meta question! I'm not very good at comprehending stuff sometimes, so it might be a dumb question but alas. I'm ace, so it really bothers me not to know which is why I think you could help.

When Shax dresses up as hitchhiker and talks to Aziraphale on the way from Scottland, she says she's bemused as to why Crowley would risk destruction for him because "you don't seem his type at all". Does she mean judging by Crowley's looks and coolness and so on or does she mean Crowley had other lovers before and Azi doesn't fit in with them? The latter would bug me ngl, I'm the kind of romantic who even wants that kiss we saw to be the first kiss for both of them 😅 And then again Neil said that they can still be ace because the kiss was romantic but there is "no evidence for sexual relations" between Crow and Azi which then must include that of course there are also no hints that they've ever been involved with others...right? (I'm ace and I'm aware aces can have sexual relations if we want to but I think since Neil says they can be ace because there's no evidence of that, it means he includes those of our community repulsed by sex, too.)

I'd love if you could shed some light on the matter 😄

So first, to actually answer your question, I think Shax in the car is just trying to rattle Aziraphale, like she does later in the bookshop by calling him Crowley's emotional support angel—except the one in the car doesn't work because Aziraphale's not going to be made to feel too lame to be Crowley's type, pfft. He's confident by this point that he very much *is* Crowley's type, even if they haven't acknowledged it.

Secondly: IMO, one of the funnest things about shipping Aziraphale and Crowley is how versatile they are. The only thing for certain is they, against all odds, have become each other's most important person. What exactly that means is pretty open to interpretation. All that to say, if you think they're Ace or even Aro, absolutely rock on!

I have a great appreciation for how Neil keeps emphasizing that canon is only whatever's "on the page," (or on the screen, in this case), and whatever he or anyone else might say outside of that technically doesn't count. He and Terry wrote these characters, but ultimately, they aren't real people with a real tangible history. The gaps in canon are free real estate for the viewers to respond to and mentally fill in.

There seems to be nothing in canon that says either of them have kissed anyone before—or that they haven't. Sex is always going to be part of shipping culture in one way or another, but just because someone might interpret Shax's statement to mean that Crowley's had lovers before doesn't mean you're not just as free to believe that was their first kiss with anyone ever. Even if interpretations contradict, both are technically headcanon and can be equally valid until something in the show itself says otherwise. Have fun!

[Personally: I love Ace AC! It's actually my interpretation of canon. I'm also on team "neither had ever kissed anyone" because that just feels like it makes sense, both for their characters and frankly that's how it feels like David and Michael acted it (those two men know how to kiss, if they wanted it to feel like something other than 'desperately attempting something both of them had only seen before' they would have).

But reading fics where they're *not* that can be fun too, even if I personally don't think they were actually making out just offscreen this whole time. I've read and enjoyed fics I thought were blatantly out of character, but still told me a good story. And man, I will never forget feeling like an absolute king on AO3 in the months after I watched s1, putting in whatever combination of tags I was in the mood for and finding piles of gold.]

Re-watching and re-evaluating "M:I - Dead Reckoning (Part One)"

A long, long time ago, somewhere in the Internet ether, I had promised to review this movie. well here it is if anyone still cares

Still think the introductory scene in the submarine was a bit long, but it didn't feel as long as it did the first time when I was foaming at the mouth to see Tom and only Tom for the first time in a new movie in the theater

Definitely a lot of exposition in the first Cary Elwes/Kittridge/etc. scene, but the information was necessary for the most part. Just very funky and unnatural how they divided the dialogue amongst everyone and they were finishing each other's sentences, like people Do Not talk like that

Also did anyone else think it was weird how long it was until the intro credits montage too? Idk maybe that's my personal artistic choice talking. Either way it was a super neat montage and I loved it, regardless of when it occurred; I was just afraid the first time I saw it that we weren't going to get one 👀👀👀

The whole end-of-days AI thing is definitely way too relevant and 1) stresses me out v badly, but also 2) Tom Cruise gives me hope that maybe we will eventually defeat it, even if it's not by he himself punching it to death 🤞🏻💖

Best comprehensive soundtrack of the franchise; the only one that has actually stuck out in my mind and I can remember at all and has stirred up genuine emotion in me

The Rome car chase safely occupies the spot as the best one I've ever seen, and you can tell the difference with how they used real sets and props vs. just wall-to-wall greenscreen 😖 I also love how the hijinks with like, the handcuffs and the seat-switching feel like smth out of an older spy comedy movie?? Vintage vibes ✨🤌🏻

Didn't think I was going to like Hayley Atwell at all before seeing the movie bc I tend not to like the way female action movie characters are written and I am a simp for Ilsa if you couldn't tell, but I ended up really enjoying her

Gabriel showed a lot of promise as a cool villain in the beginning when he was all mysterious, but ultimately there wasn't anything memorable about him for me. Only one who's earned that reward to date in M:I is Philip Seymour Hoffman, but maybe if/when we learn more about his backstory/motivation; hope is still alive for now

They've got Grace dressed like a fkin pirate there in Venice. And Pom is giving absolute "Black Parade" realness

ILSA MY SWEET LITTLE BABY SHE DIED ALL ALONE AND THEY DON'T EVEN SHOW ANYONE CRYING OVER HER DEATH EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS SUCH A SO-CALLED CLOSE FRIEND AND ALLY AND *DEF MORE* TO ETHAN AND IT'S JUST SO FUCKING WEIRD AND WRONG I ALMOST WISH THEY'D JUST QUIETLY WRITTEN HER OUT AFTER FALLOUT

Like kill her off if Rebecca wants to engage in other projects but give the character a proper send-off if you must. But fr, I agree with everyone's critique that she was such a welcome departure and sign of progress from the completely-interchangeable-female-action-character-who's-only-there-to-provide-new-and-different-eye-candy-every-time, and then right after she's really established and gelled with everyone they kill her off and switch her out in the team with another brunette female IN THE VERY NEXT SCENE BEFORE HER BODY IS EVEN COLD IN THE GRAVE

Yes. I understand that it's an action movie and, within the high-stakes confines of the plot, time for mourning is limited. Yes I understand that the other characters have witnessed many other deaths before. But the fact is that her character was special and different, to the characters and to us, and the filmmakers could have done it better. Ok, main gripe of the movie over 😔

Not sure if it's a plot hole or I just don't understand technology, but couldn't the Entity have messed with the computer in Benji's car when he puts it in self-drive while trying to help Ethan board the train...? 🤨🤨

Yep the Train Scene was just as brilliant and utterly harrowing as I remembered; most stressful viewing experience of me life 🥲😭

And, as much of a stretch as it was, I am a sucker indeed still for the part where Pom saves their lives 🥺 and now I kinda hope she lives and sticks around and has a badass, dare I say heroic moment or two in the future

Overall, despite my number of gripes, it still goes down as my favorite movie in the franchise overall 💖 the perfect proportions of comedy and drama, so many iconic and likable characters, and plenty of the unparalleled action sequences we've come to expect but even better than any we've seen before, and I am chomping at the bit for Part Two to eventually, someday, please please please come out thank you and see you at the movies 👋🏻✨

I Completed My Animal Crossing Island

I finally have my Animal Crossing video up!! It was supposed to be out a couple weeks ago but I had a few delivery delays with some equipment I needed to record the in-person quips.

Yes that’s right, this is the very first video where I am not an animated character and strangely enough, it feels so right to be. I enjoyed animating and it was a really fun era of content in my creator journey but over time I did get incredibly burnt out and it meant 2022 and 2023 was just a both barren and erratic year creatively for me.

This year has felt like a renaissance of sorts. I’m really getting into my element with these videos now, and I hope everyone is enjoying them. Even though they’re not as popular as my old videos I’m still going to make them because I have a renewed passion for making videos and there are still so many games I need to show everybody.

Funnily enough, this was meant to be a video for 2022. My sister planted the idea and we started working on my island that night in a Discord call (i had to teach her how to make an account and she deleted the app after our call LMAO). I did work on little bits here and there but after I got my new switch at the end of that year, I never transferred my island and I quite literally stopped playing for a whole year. I know I said it was two years in the video but hey, I’m dramatic.

Still so psyched that my island is done, I got a lot of help with funding the project from some really awesome people in my Twitch community, I was given at least 7 million bells to fund all the island renovations. Thank you, Twitch fam.

I’m currently playing Wild World and I might make a video on that, not too sure yet. My Halo series is still on! I have Halo 2 coming up and I currently have it planned for an end of April release. Next up however will be WarioWare! It’s not a full retrospective style video like my Rhythm Heaven one but I’ll go through the GBA games in full detail so I hope you look forward to that!

Ashton is pretty guarded with his self around others. He ends up slipping more often around you.

Not enough that you know everything, but you can catch more glimpses of things. Expressions that he hides from others, thoughts he might keep to himself, things like that.

Dorian

May or may not write a song for you. Not that it’s for you, for you. Just something he put together that you might like (and he really hopes you do like). But you don’t have to enjoy his music or anything! But it’d be great if you did...

He would like to talk to you about his family. Just little things, not too much at once since it can be a lot and he doesn’t want to push too much angst on you. Trauma dumping isn’t fun, but he’d like to tell you some of the happier times.

Gift giving can be nice. Just giving you little trinkets now and then. He mostly likes spending time with you, but he might see some pretty flowers or some trinket you might like and get it for you.

You get to see him be tired. You get to see him drop the confident facade and just be worried about what he’s doing. He left behind his whole life to explore and it’s terrifying and exciting and you get to see that.

Laudna

Shows you all of her creepy shit. If you don’t like her at her “Ring Girl” then you don’t deserve her at her “Creepy Girl at the End of the Hall”

Gift giving! All the gifts! They say you can’t buy happiness but it doesn’t help right? Do you like flowers? Creepy dolls? Weird bottles that continuously smoke? She’ll do her best to buy you something that’ll make you happy!

Does her best to keep Pate in line. He likes to spill secrets about her liking you and she has to flick his beak to keep him quiet. But she does hope you still like Pate. He’s helped her through a lot so she wants you two to get along!

Laudna has been through a lot of shit. She’s missed out on so much of her life. So her biggest way of showing she likes you is helping you achieve what you want. She never could complete her goals in life. She couldn’t have hopes and dreams to make reality so she’s going to make sure yours do.

Rachel from Friends- which is a weird one because I am not pretty like she is or enjoy dating or was popular in high school but the gets overwhelmed very easily cries too much parts I feel on a spiritual level enough to make up for the other parts- like how Monica says Rachel always cries- Kerry ALWAYS cries 🫣🫣

Also Elliot Reid from Scrubs- which again not the whole package I’m not a tall blonde or a doctor- (basically any woman who is an anxiety ridden mess I’m like MY PEOPLE!) Do you ever see a take so bad it makes you viscerally react to it? like imagine watching nwh, hell the whole home trilogy, and your only takeaway is that MJ was a “useless, boring character” or that she did nothing to help Peter?? Sorry you can't understand the fact that people don't need to have powers to help someone?

Because can we talk about this scene? 

Peter is wrought with guilt after everything that’s just happened. MJ holds his face as she tells him “we’re gonna get through this and we’re gonna get through this together.” She holds his hand. She comforts him. She just sits with him. 

It’s not always about being able to fight. It’s about emotional support. It’s about helping your friend/lover stay true to themselves even in moments of wild grief and anger. 

The other two spideys show up at first to SUPPORT PETER. Not to fight.

So many times throughout this movie, Peter’s loved ones (May, Ned, AND MJ) keep him grounded when everything is falling apart. 

if you honestly can’t see how important that is to Peter and you think it’s just about being a good sidekick, then you don’t understand the character.

MJ does this throughout the entire movie, and it’s from the very beginning; right after the identity reveal in the crowd, at Peter's apartment, on video chat, on the roof. And that's just in the first twenty or so minutes. 

She becomes the optimism he needs and makes him hope when he becomes jaded after May’s death. 

there is no Spider-Man without the people he loves and the impact they've had on him. And in the MCU, there is no Spider-Man without MJ, Ned, and May. Even with the ending, Peter carries May's moral compass, kind heart, and sense of responsibility; Ned's loyalty and humor; and Michelle's love and optimism, forward with him. He's able to continue being Spider-Man at the end because of May's words to him and because Ned and MJ are okay.

And I don’t even wanna get into the whole “MJ Watson’s not coming back/oh well she lost her memories!!” thing bc that itself is a post for another time.

🌹Hi hello hey! Since I got a couple people who showed interest in my playlist analysis series of posts I thought I’d test drive a format!! Today, I’m going to be easing us into this analysis stuff with a fun song that’s pretty easy to explain my thought process on: Livin’ La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin!🌹

🎉So first off, general vibes! This is a super fun song, I personally always find myself listening to it like 6 times in a row every time I put it on. It also has a super playful, almost flirtatious edge to it, more of the Deadpool and Spider-Man side of the relationship than Wade and Peter, more of a dangerous dance than something more sweet and domestic like a couple of the other songs on this playlist.🎉

🎆So, this might be an unpopular opinion because whenever I bring this song up in reference to Spideypool, everyone thinks I imagine the “her” in the song as Deadpool, since he’s so eccentric and has a tendency to do completely bonkers stuff. But, I’m here to make the case that Spidey actually makes more sense, and that Deadpool is the one who’s “singing”, as it were. This song makes me imagine Dp chasing Spidey across the city, led on this wild goose chase trying to catch him. And Spidey’s loving it. You honestly cannot convince me Peter never enjoyed Deadpool’s obsession with Spider-Man, including the opportunity to tease the poor bastard mercilessly.🎆

♥️One of the themes I really like to play with regarding Spideypool is that it’s just two guys teaching each other how to live again. Wade specifically is usually characterized as this absolute nihilist; he can’t die, so nothing really matters anymore. There’s no thrill to what he’s doing. Nothing new in his life. Just an unkillable mercenary that everybody fuckin hates. This is the song that plays the night Spider-Man gives him a taste of what life really feels like again, and makes him all the more determined to know the man behind the vigilante mask. A new question to answer. A new reason to live.♥️

Lines from the song that remind me of the two sillies (and explanations!)

- “She’s into superstitions / black cats and voodoo dolls.” (this part honestly just reminds me of Felicia, but this whole song is kind of her jam too. It makes me think that she gave Peter the idea to do something stupid with Deadpool. I love her)

- “She’s got a new addiction / for every day and night.” (The “addiction” here I imagine as being “a new weird thing about Spider-Man that Wade has to unravel (hehe) in order to get closer.” Spidey’s full of surprises)

- “She’ll make you live her crazy life, but she’ll take away your pain / like a bullet to your brain.” (First of all haha funny Deadpool guns bullet shooty shooty I think we all made that connection. But this line is actually super sweet. Yeah, trying to get close to Spider-Man probably fucking sucks! He’s a stubborn little asshole who almost exclusively works alone and would love to stay like that, not to mention his ✨trauma✨ of people he’s emotionally close to catching a bad case of gunshot wound or broken spine. So, yeah, spider bestie isn’t an easy thing to obtain. But once you get it? That man will LITERALLY take a bullet for you. Several. There is NOTHING he won’t do for you once he starts really caring about you (as several “I’m gonna stop being Spider-Man cause I have a gf” storylines prove). He IS gonna try to take away that pain. Because Peter Parker is the best human in existence thank you)

- “Upside, inside out / she’s livin la Vida Loca / she’ll push and pull you down / livin la Vida Loca” (this lil bit just kinda reminds me of Spidey in general. The “upside, inside out” moment sounds pretty disorienting, much like if a certain spandex clad hero was flipping and thwipping around to mess with you. And “push and pull you down”? That’s a webshooter thing if I’ve ever heard one! I just really enjoy the mental image of Peter dragging Wade around by a web. Very cute)

🌸That kinda wraps up my general thoughts! I put this amount of thought into every minute of this 3+ hour playlist, and I’m really excited to share it all with the internet void! Dragon Ball GT 12

✨GT Stands for Gross Touching✨

✨Is This Episode Worse than “The Roaming Lake”?✨

This is the first full appearance of Dolltaki, my pick for the worst Dragon Ball character ever. “The Roaming Lake” has many problems, but one thing going for it is the absence of Dolltaki.  This episode sucks a billion rotten eggs.

✨ “Good” “Ideas”, Poorly Executed✨

The “idea” here is that Pan has been turned into a doll, and she gets scooped up by the secret leader of the Luud Cult, but instead of using her to fuel Luud like the other people who have been turned to dolls, he talks to her and puts her in a little dollhouse he made, and he seems extremely excited about undressing her and putting her in different outfits. 

It sucks and I hate it and I think it’s supposed to be a joke but it’s just really weak and sad.  This feels like when a show like “The Simpsons” uses a character like Chief Wiggum to satirize the police, or the Comic Book Guy to mock nerds, except Dolltaki is a “doll otaku”, which seems pretty niche to me.  Say what you want about Master Roshi, but his pervert act is somewhat more mainstream.   How many people watching GT would see a guy like Doltaki and go “Oh, he’s just like that one guy I know!” 

Also, Dolltaki’s whole color palette is a really great example of the shitty color scheme that makes this show so tedious to watch.  Pus yellow gloves, magenta clothes, teal eyes, it’s all here.

✨Positivity Page✨

I honestly can’t find much to say in favor of this episode, so I’ll go with Trunks turning Super Saiyan for the first time in this series. 

And you, know, the sad thing is that while I enjoy this moment, it just reminds me of how much they botched Trunks, and this episode illustrates it perfectly.  Let me explain.

Okay, so here’s a gif I made of Trunks slashing a bad guy in half with his sword.  It’s in the opening of every episode of GT, and it just might be my favorite bit of animation in the whole of GT.  Look at him go.

Now, this is obviously a callback to Future Trunks, the version of the character who traveled through time to warn Goku about the Androids.  This Trunks is not the same character, as he’s the aged up version of Kid Trunks from the Majin Buu Saga.  That Trunks never had a lot to do with swords, but hey, this is GT, and it’s a perfect chance to redesign the character.  And this opening suggests that maybe the GT version of Trunks will also be swingin’ a cool sword.

Well, fun fact: Trunks never uses a sword in all of Dragon Ball GT.  It’s this brief shot of him in the opening credits, and that’s it.  But you know who does use a sword in GT?

Fucking Goku of all people.  Explain that one.  The bad guy here throws a whole bunch of swords at Goku, and this would have been a perfect chance for Trunks to just take one with him as a souvenier for use in later adventures, but he’s not in the room, so it doesn’t happen.

All right, so let me cover this episode in order, or we’ll be here all day.  Last time, Goku defeated Mutchy Motchy, the leader of the Cult of Luud, and it was surprisingly easy.  As it turns out, Mutchy Motchy was just a servant of the real leader of the Cult of Luud.  This turns out to be the gold whip he was carrying the whole time, and when Mutchy Motchy dies, the whip transforms into a shitty looking Mega Man boss named Mutchy. 

Mutchy has the power to control objects when he touches them with the tips of the tentacles on his wrists.  So he makes a bunch of stone tiles fly around and attack Trunks, and eventually they all stack up on top of him and pin him down.   He has to turn Super Saiyan to muscle out of this predicament.

And, like I mentioned, Mutchy uses his powers to fling swords at Goku.  This shot here is especially annoying, because Goku acts like he’s in some sort of tight spot.  He’s surrounded by four swords, you guys!  What if a fifth one comes at him?  He won’t have room to dodge that!  Goku beat Frieza, but I don’t know how he can hope to survive a monster on the level of Motchy!

I wish I was kidding, but I’m not.  Goku turns Super Saiyan to fight Mutchy, but he gets his ass kicked anyway.  So Trunks shows up and blindsides Mutchy while he’s strangling Goku with his whip arms.  It took TWO Super Saiyans to kill Mutchy. 

So while all of this is going on, this asshole Doltaki is watching the fight on closed-circuit television, but he’s more interested in his shitty doll collection, and he’s mainly interested in creeping on Pan, his new favorite. He rubs her against his face, talks baby talk to her, and tries to remove her doll clothes so he can dress her up in something else. 

During all this, one of the cultists shows up in his room and informs him of the battle taking place in the main hall, and it becomes clear that Doltaki isn’t just some weird pervert who lives here.  No, he runs the whole cult.  Except, no, Mutchy was supposed to be the leader, right?  Well, I’m pretty sure Doltaki is actually in command here, but it’s hard to be sure, since the two of them never have any scenes together.

Anyway, Doltaki orders all of the cultists to assemble in the hall so he can address them. It’s a good thing Goku and Mutchy moved out to another part of the building, or that would have been awkward.

The cultists are pretty hyped for this, especially the older ones, because “Father Doltaki” hasn’t made a public appearance in 20 years.  They think he’s a miracle worker, and many of them hope that he’ll deign to heal their ailments.  So it seems pretty clear that Mutchy was the day-to-day leader of the congregation, and Doltaki is a bigger deal. 

But when Doltaki addresses them, he just zaps them with his Fleshlight and turns them all into dolls to fuel Luud.  The cultists learn, much too late, that Luud was never a god, but a sophisticated machine, one which Doltaki plans to activate in order to stop Goku and Trunks.  It’s weird how he takes his sweet time about this, though.  The fight with Mutchy is happening right now, and it doesn’t last all that long.  You’d think he’d be a little more desperate to get Luud in the game.

One (other) thing I don’t get is why Doltaki has been working on this project for twenty (!) years.  The cult is clearly just a front, and they’ve been gathering victims to turn into dolls, which somehow increases Luud’s power, I get that.  The thing is, they had a lot of followers in this episode, and that’s almost enough to bring Luud to full power.  Not quite all the way, but Doltaki thinks it’ll be enough to beat Goku and Trunks.  The point is, he’s made more progress in the past week than he has in the last two decades, so what the hell?

Also, this puts to lie the notion that Mutchy learned the location of the Black Star Dragon Balls from Luud.  If Luud were really a god, then he could plausibly hand down divine revelations about the Dragon Balls’ locations, but that’s out the window.  So was Doltaki the one supplying that information?  How would he know where the Dragon Balls are?  And why would he want the Dragon Balls?  He seems to already have everything he wants.

Anyway, Luud starts to activate just as Goku and Trunks find out that Doltaki has Pan.

This episode is a garbage fire from start to finish, let’s just get out of here.

Come Get Me

"I've got a few of those myself." I so want to know more about these cases that keep Beau up at night, that he can't let go of 👀🧐🕵🏻‍♂️🔍 And just more about of him in general, we've only really seen him at work so far, and with people. I want to see what he does when he's at home, reading, watching the Dallas Cowboys' games. I love his scenes with Jenny, but I could definitely sacrifice his scenes with some other people (oh, I don't know, all the scenes of him getting insulted by the McCallisters, for example. Just a suggestion 🙄) to learn more about him, his past cases, his brother and what happened in Dallas, what he likes to do for fun, how he really feels about having to have uprooted his whole life in Texas.

That scene with the rifle and the roof, that was such a smart move 🥺 Here's to the smartest sheriff around 🔥 AND he's funny "Janky meth lab" right to the suspect 🤣🥺

Beau not wanting to believe that a teenager could've committed the crimes, it just shows that he wants to believe the best in everyone. And it makes me wonder if this is part of the reason he can't realize how badly Carla and Emily treat him, even though emotionally he feels sad and disheartened after every single interaction with them 😔 Controversial opinion, but my man deserves better than this, he deserves to be spending his time with people who actually respect him and enjoy his company, people who actually like him.

"Well, why hang on to information like this all these years if you didn't expect someone like us showing up? We want to solve this case." I love him so much 🥰 How much he cares about justice and doing what's right, he really is a hero 🥺 And promising the cop that they're going to solve the case, finish his work and get justice, it has me feeling Emotions™️ It was such a caring and reassuring gesture, but also such a noble thing to do ❤💌

That one strand that always manages to escape 😍🥰🥺❣

Just when I thought my "I want to be just like you when I grow up, Jenny Hoyt" feelings couldn't amplify, she shows up rocking that ear cuff 👌🏻

There weren't a lot of "character" moments in terms of interactions this episode, but Beau and Jenny deciding together wordlessly to go comfort the rest of the gang was so sweet, they're both so protective and empathetic and soft 🥺💕

And it's so funny to me that in that interrogation, Beau and Jenny really went "let's be bad cop, bad cop" 🤣 They're so in sync they're always both good cop or both bad cop, and the best part is, it works 💫✨🤣💅🏻👌🏻💯👑

A lot of duos are forming on the show, but you know Beau and Jenny have my heart 🥺 They work so well together, literally (and emotionally) have each other's backs, support each other and can still joke around, and the slow burn has me in my feels 💕 And, as always, their conversation and banter is the best, her reminding him that psychopaths can exist at any age 😥🤣

Literal faves 🤩 I'm going to get ragged on so hard for saying this, but 10/10, even if there wasn't a big mystery, I could just watch Beau and Jenny solving episode crimes all season long!

Man, the scene with the murdered teenager's dad was so heartbreaking 💔😭

"I'm going to call Beau." What, he's not a "manbaby" and "so sensitive", now that she needs something from him? 🙄😒 Carla needs to go away, seriously. I honestly just need the three McCallisters to leave Beau alone right now, all they do is demean and insult him when he's around, and then remember him when, and only when, they need something. And I guess Beau is not "overprotective" and the "worst" when Emily needs consoling over a murder (or just wants him around to have an insider on the investigation? Seems much more likely based on how she's treated him so far 😒)? What, Avery wasn't enough for that? 🙄 And people blaming Beau for Emily sticking her nose where she shouldn't, what are you guys doing? 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️ Beau investigating is not the same as her snooping, he's doing HIS JOB, she did not learn this (or her rudeness) from him. Anyway, we've seen how she treats him. You think she took after him in any way? She is not "just like her dad", she's the furthest thing from him. And unfortunately, I just know that we're going to also have Carla trying to blame Beau and his job for Emily's snooping, instead of taking a good look at her own parenting and Avery and his influence 🙄 Also, side note, you're telling me that Donno and Tonya were able to find out that there's something shady about Avery and his business in a matter of hours, and Carla, a woman who's lived with this guy for years, has no idea? I'm not buying that. Maybe she just doesn't care ☕ I don't think the writers mean to make Carla as condescending and mean and manipulative as they have, nor Emily as rude and selfish and annoying and unlikable as they have, but there it is. And there's a disconnect because we're supposed to be invested in their safety, because they're connected to Beau, but it's such a one-sided relationship, Emily never wants anything to do with Beau until she needs something from him, and Carla just wants to continue to put him down, every interaction that he has with either ends with him looking on the verge of tears. So it honestly has the opposite effect, I literally cannot find it in myself to stand them, let alone care about them. And they've been given absolutely zero traits to make them tolerable likeable as individuals, so there's nothing that makes me care about them gor themselves, and then when they treat Beau like trash, it makes me actively angry at them. So why am I supposed to care if something happens to either? Avery's an ass, but..... like, the narrative isn't trying to make us care about him, so it isn't an issue.

I'm not going to lie, I'm a little scared Cormac's going to walk into something he shouldn't and get deaded 😱

There's something seriously wrong with Buck, I know there's supposed to be some stress induced weird behaviour or what, but seems to me that he might decide sooner than later that he actually enjoys Sunny's unhingedness.

Walt and Paige going full unhinged killing team, it's interesting.

The Bleeding Heart Killer, I think the pieces are slowly starting to fall together, and I'm interested to see if it pans out like I think it's going to 🧐🔍

I truly adore the fact that while Deamon is seen (and, I mean honestly is) the most wild, reckless Targaryen that steamrolls over people (unlike Rhaenyra and Viserys who have the parental roles in this fic) he is actually the one that has given her true freedom and is helping her bloom into her own agency. In the most depraved, delicious way cuz… c’mon it’s Daemon, he can’t help being a nasty meow meow. Costume was beyond hot (PUSSY SPANKING??? 🥵🫠) and while I am still panting in excitement for the possibility of her fully taking the reins and making that boy cry from pleasure, I love love love the fact that yes, these are fun one shots of their married life, but you’ve still put so much care and thought in showing a gradual development in their bond and in her as a person.

I’m also so happy to see the little glimpses of their family and how they’re interacting as a whole, it make it so much more immersive than just having the main characters existing in a bubble. Plus I really appreciate how Rhaenyra was never used as a throw away character to cause some drama, she’s still here, present and very much disgusted and I’m LIVING FOR IT 😂 I can only imagine the misery she will have to go through once Reader is preggo and Daemon has *questions* 🤣

Beyond amazing chapter as always, can’t wait for the filth that’s coming !!

Hey, 🍑! I’m so glad you enjoyed this update - a whole bunch that I didn’t have planned ended up sneaking it’s way in there (hello asshole touching). I’ve honestly been letting them do what they want, picture me as the reluctant writer in the corner watching them fuck haha. I’m also shocked that the pregnancy thing has been so delayed, given that that’s one of my ultimate favourite tropes (and kinks) to read in fanfics; I can only hope the anticipation doesn’t make it impossible to live up to the hype 🥺

Reader is slowly blossoming under Daemon’s… unique brand of ✨care✨ 😈 and it’s been a real joy to map out her gradual development; she’s now asking him for outrageous little things like at the end of Costume, and I reckon a time will be coming where Reader gets to take the reins a bit 😉. Not for long, though - uncle is in control, after all. And yeah, I wasn’t expecting this anthology to include genuine character development, but it’s been really cool so far; it’s been great to spotlight some of the less-developed characters like Viserys and Otto, and even introduce some new ones like Rodrick and Gita and Milla. Just fun side-character shenanigans! Introducing them here means that if I end up using them later on, there’s less work needed to develop their purpose.

I knew when beginning this story that Rhaenyra was never going to be the villain; she’s too swag for that and I LOVE HER. There was a bit of necessary angst to start with, but I never wanted to use her as a love rival because that’s a trope I enjoy but can’t be bothered writing. Most of the drama was in silly Reader’s head, poor thing, and it was just noice to deal with and resolve that narrative arc as expediently as possible. Rhaenyra’s got her own life now - an awesome sidekick hubby, her excellent lover Harwin (and Laena, RIP), her three boys and de-facto son and twin daughters (I mean, baby Corwyn and Baela and Rhaena are all technically half-sibling with her own kids, and my head canon is that they were pretty much team-raised by Rhae, Laena and Harwin so), a lovely little sis and a cushy position as Princess of Dragonstone. Point is, in this AU she doesn’t need Daemon - but I liked the inclusion of the idea that ‘if events had unfolded differently [i.e. like canon] she would have married him’. It’s not completely removing what they were to each other, but at the same time it’s not a declaration of longing or anything. She is suffering dealing with how obnoxious a happy and in-love uncle Daemon is, though, especially seeing as how he’s not shy in smugly reminding people that he gets good pussy on the regular (from her innocent little sister, fucking Christ she’s done).

Everyone’s gonna be so tense when Reader gets pregnant - Daemon’s gonna be the ultimate dadzilla like you wouldn’t believe!

Aside from Miss Audrey's (freaking) tiara, what are some of your other favourite objects/costume pieces in the show?

Oooh what a great ask! I think about the set/costumes/props of Snowpiercer (and all TV programmes I like actually) a lot so I’ll pick out just a few that I reeealllllly enjoy:

LJ Folger’s bedazzled captains hat from when she’s running the night car in season 3 - that whole outfit actually is very fun ✨

Ruth’s plaited wigs and the way her nails are always painted perfectly in that pinky nude tone. Also her fur coat and the way Mel comments that she loves an excuse to wear it lol.

Mel’s denim jacket. Even better, Mel’s fight night dress 🔥

The red lanterns for Wilford and actually that whole car where they were sold - I really liked the jumbled up sort of antique swap shop vibe.

As a book geek I like all the shots of characters reading books and always pause the TV to see the title of it’s not mentioned.

All the weapons Ruth has ever used.

Till in her boxing gloves 🔥

The biggest plot twist of season 3 for me, Dr Headwood’s absolutely gorgeous floral dress from the coma episode. STUNNING.

And of course everything Audrey has ever worn, used, looked at etc… but particularly:

All the wigs and that time we got to see her hair in the pin curls underneath

Nashville 🎸

I grew up listening to country music, but overtime I've gotten where I really can't stand it. However, the music and plot of this one tv show have always captivated me. Nashville aired on ABC from 2012-2016 and continued to air on CMT from 2016-2018. The series is about fictional country music stars and the industry as a whole in Nashville.

For six seasons, Nashville spotlighted the harsh music industry, wove controversial issues into the dramatic plot, and gave us some pretty amazing songs. Granted, most of the music was country for obvious reasons, but watching the plot unfold with each song as their backdrop, seeing the songwriting used as a therapeutic part of each character's life made the music more enjoyable and the show more exciting to watch.

Watching Nashville takes a certain kind of stamina. It's dramatic, controversial, and often depressing, which means that this show is definitely not for everyone. This show covers things such as addiction, post-partum depression, miscarriage, LGBTQ+ inequality, racial inequality, assault, abuse, and stalking. The amount of drama alone makes it difficult to stand at times, but if you enjoy watching shows like Grey's Anatomy or The Fosters, then Nashville may be a good fit for you.

I watched Nashville when it was on air so I never watched many episodes back to back, which I really think is the best way to watch a show with this much going on. I rewatched the show in 2020 and binged it that time. While I didn't think it was too exhausting to binge, I also already knew everything that happened.

Nashville has a lot of characters who all have different backstories. The show jumps from character to character and ties them all together in different ways. The two main characters, Rayna and Juliette, are rivaling country music stars. Rayna has been in the industry for decades and is considered the queen of country music. Juliette is a young, new country star who's flashy style and sound threaten to change the industry Rayna has shaped.

The differing old and new concept reflect in the characters' relationships and strangely mimic each other in many cases. For example, when Rayna was becoming famous she met Deacon, who became her songwriting partner, lead guitarist, and long-lost love. Now that Juliette is where Rayna was all those years ago, viewers get to watch her meet Avery who becomes her loyalist supporter and friend as well as lead guitarist and songwriter.

Aside from the lives of the main four characters, lesser known artists who really deserve more than they get are Will, Gunnar, and Scarlett. Will and Gunnar are best friends who come to Nashville together to follow their dreams. Gunnar and Scarlett meet and become an ultimate songwriting duo the industry comes to recognize as the next Deacon and Rayna.

Nashville is a fun watch that easily grabs your attention from the start. I always love going to Nashville and seeing things that were shown in the series and listening to the music driving down backroads. This show provides a lot of insight on the music industry and life as a music star. If you're ever taking a trip to Nashville, I would recommend watching at least some of this show beforehand as it does represent the city in a pretty accurate fashion.

I give Nashville a good 8/10. ✨B

✨Path of Stars - What character needs more love?

I have to say Frostpaw's littermates, Mistpaw and Graypaw. I've seen someone recently point out that Frostpaw's extended family are shaping up to be important players in the RiverClan plot: her mom Curlfeather got that death at the end of River and uttered her cryptic "Trust no cat", her grandma Duskfur seems like she's up to something, her uncle Owlnose had his brief stint as RiverClan's ineffectual leader, and so on. So it is a little weird to me how little we've gotten on her brother and sister. They certainly are getting a better deal than most other background extras, they showed up in Sky with some regularity, but if this murder mystery is going to involve the whole family I feel like they need to be fleshed out more. Yet another reason for me to root for them becoming developed characters eventually.

🍃The Apprentices Quest - Do we need StarClan?

Do the Clans need StarClan? At this point I honestly sometimes think they'd be better off weaning themselves off the clingy ghosts and start over with their society. But as a reader I do think they're a big part of the series' identity. I'd want them to have both a more subdued and more prominent presence in the seires. I want them to meddle less and for us to look into the goings on of them less often (abolish StarClan prologues!), but at the same time I want to see the religion play a bigger role in day to day life for Clan cats. I want to see more of a window into religious practices, I want it to feel more important to them in the mundanities of religiosity. Something like Garry Kilworth did in his book The Foxes of Firstdark, do y'all remember when I live read it right here on the blog?

🌑Lost Stars - Favourite character + why

Jayfeather! I have many reasons to like him. For one I'm attracted to the asshole with a chip on their shoulder archetype. I find his perspective to be interesting to read about. He has interesting family relationships, particularly to his siblings which captivates me as someone obsessed with sibling dynamics in fiction. He represents a really interesting writing challenge with all the myriad readily apparent flaws in how his story was handled. And above all he just captures my imagination. That's ultimately what it comes down to, he's my favorite because I enjoy spending time reading and thinking and talking about him the most.

☁️A Light in the Mist - You can rewrite the warrior code- what do you change?

I think the code is mostly fine as-is even if certain provisions strike me as too friendly. I'd like the Clans to remain antagonistic to one another for the sake of the continued drama. Collaboration and cooperation are fine to a point but if they're drifting to a more peaceable status quo it begins to feel pointless you know? But the biggest code I'd implement would be rather than a clearly ennunciated numbered list, the code should be vaguer, certain principles of it agreed upon all clans but disparately interpreted and applied across the four clans.

I think we're due a soft reboot and that would be a fantastic opportunity for implementing the StarClan and warrior code changes. Fast forward us to a point all currently alive characters have died. Give us a fresh cast. Worldbuild the future clans from the ground up and you've got a perfect place to start fresh. A clean slate will also let them avoid digging their grave further regarding certain controversial elements such as the tangled family tree or the writers parading the corpses of formerly beloved characters who've outstayed their welcome. I just think it's a neat idea.
