Sock the Smallfry, shaping up to be a Chum.

Earned the more serious name "Sockeye" (you get a biology sticker if you get the reference) and its own super badass title (they keep modifying it because there's a lot to brag about here), speaks inklish nearly fluently (Zika and 'em taught each other's languages), going through an actual fighter training, welding a modified scooping metal spoon that deals mean damage that Zika found and gifted them.

Grown enough to wear clothes, but dresses mostly "pseudo-grunge", aka "still got no style that truly fits me so I'll be a fashion disaster until I do''. Has a long scar a bit below its neck from ''whatever the hell went down with that whole agent thing''. Matching kinship bracelets with Zika, that he wears on its tail.

Still kinda just hanging around like he's hot stuff. Zika keeps telling them to please get a job. Vaguely considering ambassador career or perhaps Salmonese teaching, but won't do anything about it because he thinks he's a natural and don't need any formation. That's a dangerous mentality to have, Sockeye. Zika could tell you about it, Sockeye.

Zika, aka Neo 3, aka Agent 5 (they insisted).

Still working as an archeologist specialized in human culture, though after Alterna, they seriously lost their spark about it. In fact, after the whole thing they got into a deep depression and never truly recovered, still goes into dissociative episodes, random outbursts, slight nihilism, and often cries themselves to sleep. (Also they got serious PTSD and miiight have ursaphobia now.) Sockeye helped them a lot through that, and still does ; although Zika now no longer cares about telling Humanity's History and would actually rather hide it all from the public. They're very bitter about it. They now focuses on just restorating human media, human ethnicities, and disposal of human remains. They don't like to talk about that, and actually now focuses most of their agent work on getting rid of potentially harmful human stuff. The NSS doesn't have the context of the Alterna logs (5 hides that from them at all costs), so they don't really understand. Although Cap is a willing ear.

Other than that, they are getting decent at Salmonese (issues with understanding though); they manage their restoration enterprise more part-time ; they returned to school to follow anthropology classes and study the various ethnicities of ✨Today✨, especially regarding Salmonids ; got around to travel a lot more (sometimes alone, often with Sockeye and sometimes with the NSS), and keeps a very cautious eye on Grizzco, as they highly suspect their newly acquired nemesis to pull out a Plan C. (Still works here though. Yeah, they're aware.)

Oddest thing though is, after witnessing Agent 5's and Sock's relationship and prowesses, Shiver & Frye got into their minds that Zika simply *must* become "Salmon Tamer". They're going on and on about legacy, ancestral practices and binding rituals and just wouldn't drop it. Zika is pretty reticent to the whole thing, because they find it wildly disrespectful towards the Salmonids as an ethnicity, but eventually caved under the nagging and reluctantly agreed to the training and the outfit and mask crafting. This is relatively recent and they're feeling worse about it than working at Grizzco still. Big Man personally advises against it, the NSS thinks it's super fresh, and Sockeye is... Split.

This recent change might shake Sockeye into finally taking some action upon the whole Envoy of the Salmon Kind idea, actually.

YESS YAAY ALWAYS.. theeeres . a lot . i have like 80 something dragons on the site and probably ~30/40 who have written out concrete shit about them/their role lollllll but errm. long post here r the important ones.

from the last post these r the 5 'gods' of the area. they arent actually gods, just extremely old and more intune with magic than the average bloke in the modern day. they dont actually get all along theyre just paired up in my head cus theyre oooold.

Aspenti (any pronouns) is An Informant. to what at this point i dont think she remembers but she takes the role veeery seriously and works as a sort of messenger for the other forces doing their shit in the wasteland they live in ^_^ he stays completely silent outside of his role tho... a kind of cherub-esque figure but if a cherub was a strange thing that was so full of the like. Concept Of The Sky sometimes it exploded in lightning.

Regina (she/her) is an archeologist who became kinda fixated on the castle in the wasteland. shes often mistaken for a statue guarding the way in and out of the area and doesnt mind that much. attention gets to her head. she loves telling stories to scare the kids into behaving and is like. Kind of Insane about the history of the realm but feels a sort of weird obligation to stay out of current hypothesizing about the history even tho shes lived through most of it cus it "spoils the fun for the rest of them."

Sulcatus (it/its) is the oldest thing around. its body is what became the castle everyone in the area lives in, before even the rot of the wastelands moved in it was there. its mostly only heard of through whispers of the court at this point. like Regina it has a fondness for spreading stories of the history it lived thru, but genuinely doesnt remember most of it out of not giving a shit, so it loves telling lies to anyone brave enough to actually approach it. its lazy, polarizing, and really just a trickster. its quite cute. it used to train fighters but stopped after its last trainee kinda died horribly from its command. its fine tho its trainee is fine and doing great.

Aeternitas (he/him) is combative and kind of wretched. like hes fine he doesnt actually enjoy fights for as Aggressive as he is and how Fighty he comes across hes a huge fan of just Staring and watching stuff happen, taking up the role of a guard dog with regina just to see people squirm. hes the embodiment of the rot of the wastelands in the area like sulcatus is the castle and regina is the history, but "embodiment" in the vague sort of, Hes around cus Its around, not that he made it. people Blame him for it though (or worship him depending on ur personal view on the idea of a living rot growing over the land) and he thinks thats hysterical.

Stagnum (any) is like. the least important frankly. shes the defacto Trickster Joker figure in the mythos, but like if your mythos was completely real and your gods tripped you in the hallways because tehy dont get attention otherwise. hes the herald of life and all things living in the area but if thats just cus she was the only figure left to deify or any real magic no one rlly knows. he just likes attention.

Euclid (she/it) is the head of a local group of vagrants who were drawn to the castle by promise of a new home after being kicked out of their original homes fr Many reasons. theyve fully dedicated themselves to helping the rot of the waste spread to the point theyve let it take over themselves, cus it provides fr them so why dont they provide for it back! shes driven and a bit too dedicated to her cause getting a little merciless in her protection of those shes deemed as under her care . shes cool. she helps a lot with the local merchants and the political shenanigans in the castle.

Vlad (he/him) is a stressed freak given wayyy too much sway mostly because Many Many powerful people think hes charming. hes So Scared of literally everything going on but is somehow the head of the guard and The Person people go to for peacekeeping. Both the head of the forum of merchants and local Powers and the leader of the ruffians who claim original ownership of the castle and make its halls a nightmare to be in think he is Simply So Charming and their little Thing LMAO.

Neve (it/its) is the loser leader of the ruffians in the castle who is vaguely obsessed with vlad. once, maybe twice dead, its a cunning and terrible scholar who heads the ghosts in the halls. though at this point its been so many years its mind is kinda scattered and half there at times. its really not that bad tho it just likes Seeming that bad. its like if a zombie was cool.

Raphael (it/its) is the self proclaimed leader of the forum. the forum doesnt.. have a leader? but no one else cares enough to claim to be one so everyone lets it pretend it is. the forum is a group of 11 dragons who embody the elements and have been in the area as long as its existed. most just kinda chill out but some get Extremely involved. raph is one of latter ones and mostly acts as an annoyance. every other one of the heads in the forum has some sort of Thing they do, produce/provide/etc but raph really doesnt??? so it tries to take to leadership. but isnt very good at it . it at least acts as a sort of like. mascot? or like figurehead of the entire area so people are charmed by its ditzy outlook.

Kaiden | he’s ok I like him just fine he usually dies in my playthrough though because my youngest sister is named Ashley and I feel weird letting someone with her name die does it make sense no but who cares I’m playing

Liara | You’d think I would love an alien archeologist and for the most part I do but when I’m not actively romancing her I find her a bit too much and I get annoyed in me3 with her whole planet being taken and her attitude about it as if Earth wasn’t the first planet taken

Ashley | I don’t romance her because of the name reason but I do like her. Also she was right about the council seeing humans as dogs.

Miranda | again I should like her but honestly prefer friendship over a romance just let her be with her sister

Tali | honestly see her as more of a a sister

Jack | love her, one of the few characters who actually has character growth but I’m still salty over not being able to romance her as female Shepard

Jacob | If you ignore the weird flirtatious tone when you go to talk to him, you’ll find he’s not that bad. He’s supposed to be the level headed character and he is for the most part. He does suffer from bad writing though and it’s pretty obvious too. Still I do like the me2 romance so I go through the pain but I do still get annoyed in me3

Garrus | nice voice but that’s it and I do like the tango dance in the dlc but honestly most of the time it felt like I was yelling at him. When I was younger he was my favorite but now that I’m older some of the stuff he says and does doesn’t sit right with me.

Thane | never romanced him because personally I would never ask someone out after they trauma-dumped like what the hell was up with that option??? Still I understand the appeal because hello??? Hmmmmm I have so much to say I don't even know where to start ok so to keep it short and simple (this won't be short or simple LOL) so Jay is actually a plant mutant vault experiment, and also the son of an artifact holder (Like Lorenzo, my NV oc Fyre is Jay's dad, and was Lorenzo's partner and an archeologist. When they found the Artifact Lorenzo wears, in my fic they actually found multiple pieces, and his dad has a choker that can't be removed now, but Jay was born long after he had the artifact) so he essentially has inherited alien-artifact powers, but not to a crazy extent. It's like all the basic alien-artifact serum powers in game, stronger, immune to most sickness, resilient, extra long life, that stuff. But in my fic each artifact had it's own general set of "powers" along with the "buffs". For example, Lorenzo has telekinesis in game, Jay's dad's choker had telepathy/empathy. Jay can only hear the thoughts of/communicate with animals though, because his inherited powers aren't as strong. He does have empathy with humans though, just not telepathy. Jay doesn't know of his dad or the actual reason for his weirdness until way late in his life, because his mom gave him up for adoption and he never met his birth parents (he doesn't care to either he loves his adoptive lesbian mothers too much to care) Prewar, Jay was a nurse practitioner (he wanted to be a forest ranger but one of his mom's was too scared of his really bad driving and didn't want him to get lost/drive off a road or something,) before the war, moved from southern Oregon to Massachusetts for schooling. He gets married, and later is drafted and about 4ish years before the start of the game he gets shot in the head (rip), lives, but is in a coma for 3 months. He stays at a hospital in Vegas for 2 months.. while he's there, Vault Tec scientist Cedric hears of a dude at the hospital whole lived being shot in the head and is set to be frozen in Vault 111 when the bombs drop. Cedric was one of the scientists going into Vault 22, and he had a personal project where he was trying to modify the DNA of humans with sunflower dna to see if they could process radiation as either a source of nourishment or simply be unaffected by it, as sunflowers do. Sunflowers irl are used to clean up nuclear fallout, which was the inspiration for this as well as the Solar Powered perk! So while Jay was in a coma, the guy spliced his exceedingly handsome dna with Sunflower dna, turning him into the world's first (and best) human flower. Then, Jay was taken back to Mass. and woke up about a month later. He doesn't know about that until long after the war Cedric is an important character later in my fic he's still alive and is a ghoul slowly going feral Being shot in the head does make Jay go mostly blind and deaf though, he can't move or see from his right eye at all and his hearing is almost completely gone on the same side, but it's better on the left. he usually closes his right eye to focus on stuff so it looks like he's winking all the time lol Then the war happens, Jay is frozen, in the vault, and then eventually is rescued from the ice prison by Codsworth, Preston and Struges. The experiment made him able to photosynthesize, he's immune to radiation, gets very tired at night/in the dark, smells like sunflowers and is sadly very susceptible to the cold I was going to write more about Nick and how amazing he is and how much they love each other but this is so long.

also I know this all probably sounds super insane. But I built everything off in game lore and perks so it seems crazy but I can explain in some way I feel like Charlie at the pepe silvia board though

Sexuality Headcanon: i view lemm as a crochety old ("old") man (like late 50s-early 60s), so i think at this point he doesn't care very much. i have no idea if he's queer or not. he's not a character i think about a lot honestly? but if anything he'd be married to his collection. he definitely doesn't seem like the type to ever really want a partner, regardless of if he's aro or not. he doesn't really feel like he's aro, regardless. just grumpy. lmfao. i guess my answer is i don't know. i could probably see him being bi? but at the point we meet him in in the game i really doubt he cares.

Gender Headcanon: this man is cis, idk. he's either very cis or very trans, but either way he doesn't give two fucks about his gender and he'll chew anyone that asks out for daring to make him think about it. if he's any flavor of trans, he doesn't like scrutinizing his gender. better to save that energy for trying to translate the wanderers' journals he gets, yknow? it doesn't really matter in hallownest anyway.

A ship I have with said character: i don't ship him with anyone, nor do i really want to. he's more interesting as just relic seeker lemm imo. i guess in a way it'd be interesting to explore how romance is 'distracting' for him, particularly for stuff like lemmquirrel, but frankly i'm not interested and i highly doubt lemm is interested.

A BROTP I have with said character: does lemm look like a bro to you /lh well actually i could probably see him getting along with the seer. all you have to do to get him to be nice is to offer some inkling of information about the history of an area and he'll Completely shift his tone. he just goes into archeologist mode right away, and with some convincing i think the seer could have a good rapport with him.

A NOTP I have with said character: i have not looked at much ship content for him, but i'd say anything outside of lemmquirrel is... probably a no go? i don't even particularly enjoy lemmquirrel. more so that i just don't care; i tend to have a pretty low tolerance for romance in general, but especially with lemm i really can't see him in a relationship.

A random headcanon: i think this is common, but i'm gonna say it anyway. this man is Lost in the autism juice. it's pretty hard for him not to be when he dedicates basically all of his time to collecting and deciphering old texts with no known speakers left. do you know how mindblowingly hard it is to reconstruct languages? there's so much extrapolation involved, and if you don't have enough data you really just can't do shit about it. so the fact he's doing this all on his own is really impressive, and he's just very autistic about it.

General Opinion over said character: yeah i don't think about him very much honestly. he's interesting enough in his own right, but i don't have many thoughts about him fkjghkgf

Sexuality Headcanon: re: my pebbles post, i really don't think any of the iterators have thought much about this, but out of all of them i feel like sig would be the most likely to have one? i don't know how it would work. you could probably argue that sexuality works differently for iterators, but i don't want to work out the specifics of robot sex. but sig just has big queer energy in a way that explicitly feels allo. what flavor of it, no clue. they'd be the type to use both bi and pan in conjunction though. so probably that. both bi and pan.

Gender Headcanon: nonbinary of some sort. if based on downpour, i would say agender man with he/they, but based on my own thoughts it'd be they/them only and some ambiguous sort of gender that they don't really care to specify. do they have a gender? yeah, probably. what is it? your guess is as good as theirs.

A ship I have with said character: don't have one. i really don't care to ship the iterators ngl.

A BROTP I have with said character: (downpour lore spoilers for spearmaster) i really enjoyed the development of sig and suns' relationship in downpour tbh, though i'm a bit dubious about how canon it is. as for my own work, i actually think sig and wind get along quite well! i think they talked a lot, and were very close. sig obviously cared about moon too, but she was more of a senior, while sig and wind were closer in age.

A random headcanon: they're very gullible. it's part of their general good-natured way of going about things, but they're very trusting and genuine, so it's pretty easy to prank them. innocence weaponized this very often.

General Opinion over said character: sig my best friend my beloved. even before downpour,,,, hunter's whole campaign is. ough. i'm so dearly curious about their relationship with the rest of their local group, like what did they think about moon's collapse? they cared enough to send her help despite their can probably not being in too good of a state too. and also how are they so jokey in the face of... everything? they're so interesting, and i'd say i wish we got more explicitly canon content about them, but i think part of the beauty of rain world is allowing the players to extrapolate and theorize stuff on their own. so no real complaints there :)

i've got a couple and it got pretty long so all of my rambling is under the cut :D

first off: pixlriffs. he is. my most specialist little guy i want to write him so so bad and then i never do sjdkflsjdf uhm here's a post about my headcanons for him (from my old blog i deleted, i gotta redo 'em one of these days cause my thoughts have changed sjdklfsj) and here are some pixlriffs stories i wanna write:

the second chapter of my one fic i have with cg!fwhip cause gunpowder boys my beloved.

the wedding in empires s1, Pixl has an encounter with Xornoth right before the ceremony and ends up regressing because Xornoth is terrifying and he ends up sending this garbled message to the universal chat saying something about him being late and he's sorry and Jimmy ditches Joel's pre-wedding preparations to help a little Pixl get ready (light angst and a lotta fluff and comfort, cg!jimmy because i love him big brother energy all the way)

empires s2 literally just. little!pixl and cg!joel because i saw these headcanons floating around about the Copper King and his lightning storm shrine thing, and God Joel liking the fact that someone actually went through the trouble of calling upon him (or something idk how to phrase it) but uh- then the world ended, and God Joel misses the Copper King and this little Archeologist reminds him of the King, so he feels. some kind of duty? i guess? to make sure the kid is okay and looked after and idk man just cg!joel cause i think it's fun (i've started this idea here but have no idea how to continue it sjdfklsjf. probably just. oneshots? who knows)

then the third one is an au of an au i cooked up on a whim one day where Archeologist Pixl and Bard Oli are traveling together to rediscover the secrets of the past, and both of them are werewolves. i made pixl regress because that's what i do, so he's just. an oversized puppy and oli has fun cg/big brother vibes and it's just no thoughts all vibes and i may write a drabble or something later

Headcanons to start off (they're kinda long sorry)

Tango:

a regressor! not very confident in his cg abilities but he can keep an eye on someone before a "real caregiver" (his words) can come to take care of them

so incredibly adhd coded where do i even start

he is. a liddol guy. probably like 5-8 is his usual range? he's a lot like Big Tango, always ready to jump at the chance to do stuff, but now he doesn't know what consequences are, so uh. keep an eye on him.

not like, constantly clingy, but definitely clingier than usual! he'll jump on you and hold your hand while he's showing you stuff and he's a lot more open to hugs (especially impulse hugs)

he's pretty hyper and runs all over but also crashes really hard, like it's surprisingly easy to get a little tango to fall asleep. (getting him IN bed is a struggle, yes, but once he's there you just kinda pet his hair. and then he's asleep. it's like an on/off switch sdjfksljdf)

will ramble at you forever if given the chance (he only goes completely nonverbal when he's a toddler/infant, one easy way to tell words are hard for him is when he's lightly chewing on his fingers or just. generally has things in his mouth that he then refuses to take out)

he usually refuses a pacifier but likes to chew on teethers and such

he doesn't have a lot of negative triggers- they're usually stuff like being alone in the dark or having a nightmare or wetting the bed/having accidents, but those are pretty rare

nobody can really pin his positive triggers cause he just regresses when he needs/wants to and doesn't try to stop it (which can be good and bad depending on the situation but mostly it's good)

he's really open about his regression! he lets his caregivers know beforehand when he's feeling fuzzy so there's no confusion when he does slip and he never tries to hide his age checks

(except he does try to hide accidents and bedwetting and the like but i'll get to that later)

Jimmy:

a flip! he adapts to the situation, if that makes sense. if it's better for him to be small he'll regress, and if not he'll stay big and caregive.

very caregiver coded and idk how to explain that beyond "he's jimmy"

he's a lot healthier about it than other flips cough pixlriffs coughcough and he actually does take time to regress when he needs it, and isn't afraid to be small

on the surface it seems like he hates regressing because one of the most reliable ways to get him down is by teasing and babying him and he puts on a front about hating it but in reality he doesn't mind and even welcomes it

he like. puts his mouth on things? he sucks on things more than he chews on them, likes having things pressed against his lips (this sounds kinda weird but it's a thing i promise sjdklfsjf)

he's pretty clingy, he likes having stuff to hold onto (he'll keep one point of contact between him and his current cg, whether that be latching onto their hand or a piece of clothing or hiding behind them, etc etc)

LOVES huge plushies that are bigger than him, usually can be found lugging around a plushy (unfortunately not the ones that are bigger than him- he saves those for a bedtime nest)

mans will regress if you start crying and he can't help you calm down

something about his friends crying makes him want to cry and he will do his absolute best to make it better and if he can't make it better he'll cry and regress himself

just like tango he's really open about his regression, always giving a heads up when he's fuzzy and while he does try to hide his age checks he usually relents pretty quick and he's never much cared about accidents and bedwetting cause eh. it just happens sometimes, he'll be alright

and now for the stories:

a continuation of this drabble here maybe, idk how to continue it but i'd like to maybe perhaps

something something ranchers reunion, tango regresses out of the excitement of being on a new server and Jimmy immediately goes cg mode. they hang out with everybody, doin the good crossover stuff, and at one point when they’re alone Jimmy gets all sad like “I’m sorry I was the reason we lost” and Tango baps his entire hand on Jimmy’s face (very gently) like. no being sad. we are together again. no being sad. and jimmy just smiles like "alright, no being sad" and they just. *jazz hands* fluff/no angst team rancher my beloved

and the last one: a tango bedwetting fic. for the very first time Tango's found part of his regression that he doesn't like. he's embarrassed about it and not having a good time and i've started this idea in this drabble here but it's just. angst and hurt/comfort and cg!impulse and good vibes and i wanna write it but idk how

Kojiro/James - My number one because James was probably my very first fictional crush. I was almost always reading Team Rocket fanfiction when I first gained access to the internet. I would watch the anime just for them. Over the years, I learned more and more about his character and background. How he ran away from home because his parents are basically the worst and tried to force him to marry some dominatrix. And, all in all, James actually seems like a decent human being to some extent. He cares for others and his Pokémon. Even if he gets nothing in return, he still seems like he would do just about anything for Jessie and Meowth. His found family next to his grandparents, who were the only other family he had that actually gave a damn about his well being. I'm not going to say that I know exactly how that feels, but I will say that I do have a found family myself. And my biological family isn't exactly in the picture except for some holidays or if someone needs money. But anyway, this is one of the many reasons why I picked up James as a muse. A lot of nostalgia and admiration I have for this guy.

Hanzo Shimada - If I'm being honest, Hanzo was not the first character I mained in Overwatch. It was actually Reaper. While it was fun playing as the dark edgelord, I began to experiment with other heros. Once I made my way to Hanzo, I immediately found that there was something about him that I quickly latched onto. His back story is traumatic. He struggles to find redemption and come to grips with his past. In the process, discovering his brother was alive in the Dragons short, which is by far my favorite. The biggest thing about Hanzo that stood out to me was that I felt I related to him in a lot of ways. Sure, my own back story isn't exactly the same as his, but there are definitely some elements there that I can understand. It's one of reasons that I picked him up as my very first canon muse. In fact, you can still find him here @brxken-arrxw. I haven't been on there much as of late, but there's a good chance that I could be bringing him back :)

Yami Bakura - From the Yu-Gi-Oh! verse. Yes, there was a time where I was all about that series... but only the first generation and the characters. And don't ask me how to play the game because... Yeah, I never learned, but anyway! I was very invested in the characters and ships. Yami Bakura is the evil spirit of the Millennium Ring. The spirit of a tomb raider and thief from ancient Egyptian times. He inhabits the body Ryou Bakura, who was gifted the ring by his father, who is an archeologist (I think). He possess him constantly and takes control to do his bidding. While he is technically supposed to be "evil", I did kind of latch onto him more over the other characters. I can see his past being a very traumatic one, which probably led to him becoming a ruthless thief. I have also read a lot of amazing fanfiction where he struggles with this and dealing with his feelings. Like coming to grips with who and what he is. Even with Ryou. Like, I can see him actually caring for Ryou to some extent, but doesn't want to express those feelings because maybe he's afraid it will show weakness. It is something I have dealt with before. I have attempted to hide things so that I don't appear weak to others, but man did that fail so hard for me. It's probably why I still have issues with it to this day. I am better than I used to be, but I still have moments. But yeah, I really feel like Yami Bakura has more room to deal with and grow. I definitely admire him a lot.

Lucas - A Mother/Earthbound series character. Lucas is from Mother 3. The game that was never actually released in the US. There used to be a way to download the game with translations and stuff. While I did, I only managed to get halfway through. I have read a lot about the back story. Lucas loses his mother and twin bother. I'm a little hazy on the rest of the game's plot, but I do know that Lucas is an individual that carries a lot on his shoulders. Dealing with the loss of family members while trying to carry on. No crying until the end... As the game says, at some point. Unfortunately, I understand a thing or two about the pain of loss. And having to quickly pick up the pieces and carry on. Lucas has a very special place with me for this. I have so much love and admiration for him.

Zorra Lynn Lombardi and The Devil Cat - I really struggled with this one, but Zorra was my first and only written OC. I ultimately ended up dropping her and stealing her name for myself. I once had a blog for her, which has since been deleted and repurposed into this blog (email wise, that is). She was lone girl who lived alone with a cat, whom was probably more of a thing than she was, if I'm being honest. This cat was a calico cat with fake set of red devil horns mounted on it's head. I called her "The Devil Cat". In most cases, she was referred to as just "Kitty". My idea for the cat was that they were once a god-like entity. Cast down from the heavens to reign terror upon the Earth. While this was a cunning plan, the appearance that was taken on wasn't exactly ideal. Their vision was for a cat-like beast with horns. A creature that would surely be feared by man. When they arrived on Earth, however, the plan somehow backfired and they appeared as a small female calico cat with fake headbanded devil horns. How this happened was beyond them, but it was also a no turning back kind of ordeal. So this is what they were stuck with. While they still had the ability to control some minds and start small fires, this definitely was not what they had in mind.

Anyway, back to Zorra. She was basically a reflection of myself. I basically poured all of my experiences and stuff that almost was into her. She was outcasted and forgotten by her own family, went through mental trauma after losing her mother and step father, once engaged to be married but was left after the mental trouble, but somehow made a strive to get back on her feet and try to make the most of life. She had a job at a coffee shop, had a home of her own. While she originally did not have any pets to begin with, the Devil Cat found Zorra and moved herself in. Seeing her as easy to manipulate, which did work to some extent, but being a small cat complicates things. Particularly when you're constantly given catnip and treats.

These two were my original babies, but I ultimately dropped them due to lack of interest. I made a lot of drawings of them both and had a lot of fun while it lasted, but it wasn't meant to be unfortunately. :(

moin moin (i'm running out of typical german greetings, i'm not even from the north, anyway)

i really don't think i can cheer you up that much, considering i just had to turn off the tv because i couldn't stop thinking about how alexia isn't in this tournament, then i started crying, but i can at least tell you like a semi-funny story.

so the other day, i was at london pride. first of all, it was absolutely amazing, there were SO. MANY. PEOPLE. (cologne pride could never) and i saw a band that i've been a fan of for a while and everything was going great. only issue was that i was alone, cause i'm on vacation with just my parents and they didn't want to spend the entire day there with me. (they're actually not homophobic, believe it or not, my mom's always bragging about how she's been going to pride since '96, but they had tickets for something else) so anyway, i was alone, wandering around and then i naturally proceeded to trip over a road sign on the ground. as you've probably heard english people are typically so nice it's almost absurd and of course people at pride specifically, so there were like 10 people immediately around me checking in and stuff and i was like "no, i'm fine, thank you" as one does and then literally one of them was like "no, you're not, sit down." and turns out i had cut my lip, chin and knee and eventually after like 20 minutes some medics finally showed up and took me to their tent and then they were like: "well, you might have a concussion, be careful." and then my parents showed up, got my face cleaned and then we went to the adele concert at hyde park, had the time of our lives, especially actually on the way back with thousands of people trying to get from hyde park to green park corner whilst screaming adele songs and adele cured my concussion.

i actually might get a scar on my lip for a while which is kinda cool, but anyway, everything else is going well. we went to a dig today (essentially becoming archeologists for a day, which was all of our childhood dreams) and everyone there started celebrating and hugging and high-fiving when we heard that boris resigned. overall, great day.

With Alexia - I can completely understand you. My whole social media is full with it and it is mentioned EVERYWHERE. I can’t here it anymore. The news really steamed my feelings about the euros. Which brings my to my life: this week and half of next week I need to work a lot before my first holidays. Also I’m coming to Germany for some days and I’m going to Berlin pride. Gonna be interesting. Don’t hesitate to write me again… Especially since tomorrow Spain and Germany are playing.

discussing the final season of carmen sandiego

*spoilers* umm....so yeah, i finished watching carmen sandiego, and i’m left in a state of perpetual sadness and despair. i feel like the ending of the show wrapped up wayyy too fast, and kind of left off on a bit of an unsatisfactory note for some of the characters. although i love the large and diverse cast of carmen sandiego, one of the drawbacks of having all those characters and arcs and storylines makes it harder to cram in a satisfying conclusion for everyone in a twenty-minute episode. so here’s what i would do if there was more time. 

let’s start off with the threads that i think were tied off pretty well: 

julia & chase devineaux: i wasn’t really a shipper of julia and devineaux but i actually really enjoyed their relationship throughout season 4. we see a lot of character growth from devineaux in the way that he interacts with julia and the world. julia pushes devineaux to become a better person, to see things with a broader perspective and from other people’s points of view. and he does really change a lot into an understanding person instead of the overconfident, arrogant detective we first saw him as in season 1. in addition, he also grows to respect julia as a person and partner, and it’s completely adorable how he looks at her while zari tells julia that they’ll follow her lead. also i love how he keeps wearing his lucky cat jacket from san francisco in season 4.  

el topo & le chevre: okay, i was pretty much shipping these two the minute they showed up on the screen together. you can tell how much they care about each other throughout the series. whenever one of them gets hurt, you can really see how they prioritize each other over whatever thing vile is planning. when things are good, they’re so sweet and they have so much fun together. and they take dumb cute selfies. they’re so, so adorable, and this season definitely brings the shipping fodder. and they end the season moving on from vile and running a food truck together. the only thing i’m mad about is that we definitely needed more screen time from them. 

shadowsan: i didn’t like shadowsan in season 1 but over the course of the series he really went through a lot of major character development and i love how he’s now basically a grumpy dad figure to carmen. the season ends with him finally reuniting for good with his brother in japan, and it’s a satisfying conclusion for his arc. i also love how he was the one to help carmen in the finale when she’s struggling with the brainwashing thing. which is way better than the brainwashing being resolved by some bs like true love’s kiss. (also carmen and gray are way too hurt and they’re super not ready for a relationship.)  carmen sandiego is a show that emphasizes the importance of family with this father-daughter duo, and i think that’s something really valuable. also i’m interpreting that shadowsan isn’t permanently moving to japan, but rather just visiting his brother. he’s still definitely going to be there for carmen going forward when she needs him. 

player & carmen’s friendship: i love this show for having a male/female friendship with absolutely no romantic feelings going on. it’s a solid friendship, and depicts a wholesome, supportive relationship. absolutely no qualms here.

and here’s all the stuff that needs expanding/fixing: 

tigress: i actually really love tigress as a character, and i personally think that there should have been more of her in the series. i would have liked to see more depth and motivation to her, since she has a lot of character potential. i don’t really know how i would rewrite tigress’s arc, because it’s virtually nonexistent and there’s not too much to go off of. i don’t think she needs a redemption arc, but i would give her more of a spotlight. (also low key fictional-crushing on her.) i would like to include sort of a tigress-centric episode, which can also generally be more expansion on the inner workings of vile.

cleo & saira: villain couple. villain couple. they need to be a villain couple, enough said. i would rewrite season 4 to have include an emotional downbeat moment in which saira struggles with being able to fit in with society and humans and being completely awkward at it while cleo, in all her regal and ettiquite-esque manners, tries to help. this wouldn’t really help with the main plot, but it would be humanizing and provide character depth. i feel like this could be the b-plot in the tigress episode somehow. 

coach brunt: you don’t betray family. at this point, coach brunt has lost the daughter she raised, who, in her mind, has basically backstabbed her entirely. coach brunt was also betrayed by shadowsan and left for the police to find, and in season 4, malestrom basically abandons her to drown. and it’s highly likely that somewhere in her backstory she’s been betrayed many times, likely by her own blood family, which would provide context for why she’s such a loyal person to vile, who she thinks of as her found family. in rewriting season four, i’m adding one extra episode that’s solely on the backstory of coach brunt. in this episode, we would explore brunt’s upbringing and the first time she is betrayed by someone she considers family. in my opinion, coach brunt was likely pushed to fall by another influence, but she also makes the conscious choice to choose revenge over moving on. potentially, we could also explore brunt’s budding friendship with the mechanic, who we never see again after that one episode, as well as a reflection upon this from her adult self. 

gray & the freaking mind control thing & his moral struggles: *sighs* i can see what the show is going for, but i really just don’t see it in the execution. the way that gray struggles with morality is like it’s an on and off switch. he’s either graham, basic civilian, or crackle, basically evil. in that one episode, he flip flops between being overly heroic, even taking out time from his day to specifically track down a random kid to return his wallet instead of just dropping it off at the police station or leaving it where he found it. and then the flip side is like he’s just robotically relapsing into stealing mode, where he just suddenly has to impluse to steal literally anything. i feel like this flip flop wasn’t really a good portrayal of his struggle and didn’t really demonstrate many active choices made by him. and the way that he’s just like “i’m actually just evil” when he confronts carmen at the lab is just super one-dimensional. i just don’t buy it that he flips to vile so quickly in the span of a few episodes. i feel like there should have been more active reflecting and the decision should have been dragged out longer. 

also it’s revealed in the finale that gray also changed his crackle rod to not go beyond a stun, and i think this was a nice touch, because it demonstrates his aversion to murder, which calls back to the first caper, in which he’s confronted with killing the archeologist at the excavation site. but he doesn’t end up having to make that choice, because carmen stops him. but this time, it’s his own choice to take that step away from vile ideals. i don’t think gray is ever going to be a “hero” of the traditional sense or have a complete redemption arc, because it just doesn’t fit him. to be honest, i don’t know what the future will hold for gray, but i definitely think of he will fall somewhere along the lines of red x (teen titans) or catwoman’s (in certain comic runs) gray morality. (and i think the way gray returns to vile kind of screws this up.) he’s still going to steal stuff sometimes probably, but he’s not going to straight up murder people. he would probably be the type to work for himself alone mostly, but be okay teaming up with the good guys sometimes. definitely no joining evil organizations tho. 

gray & carmen & the “i know you’re in there somewhere fight:” i definitely ship these two, but i think they’ve got a long way to go before they’re really ready to admit their feelings for each other. i’m happy that the “i know you’re in there somewhere fight” didn’t culminate in a kiss scene being the thing that snapped carmen out of the trance. because that is just so cliche and not the message of the show. instead, it’s shadowsan who does. and that makes sense going along with the themes of family. i think the issue with this i dislike how there is no more elaboration after carmen supposedly kills gray. this is her best friend. i would imagine that the reaction would be greater, since he was also her friend and teammate during the months they were both working under vile. and then when carmen’s brainwashing wears off, she agonizes that she killed her best friend. but that’s it. the “i know you’re in there somewhere fight” is the last screen appearance of both of them together. then it’s directly cutting to taking down vile. there should have been a hospital scene where carmen rides with him in the ambulance and talks to him as he’s unconscious, and leaves behind a note for him to read when he’s awake. 

i just really think there should be a “heart to heart” scene somewhere in this finale where they confront their feelings (not romantic stuff, but more about like shared trauma at the hands of vile and their broken apart friendship). this could happen at that sydney cafe. both times carmen and gray go on a “date” she leaves him sitting there alone, bewlildered. i think the finale should include a scene of them leaving the cafe together and then walking away and waving to each other. this shows development in their relationship, and that they are now closer, but it also visually shows that they still have differences as they walk away with a sort of two toned kind of environment angle that shows the different paths they have chosen. (and carmen calls him gray. and he doesn’t correct her.) it’s more of a see you later, than a goodbye though. we’re also getting rid of that part of when gray says he doesn’t want to complicate carmen’s life in the hospital scene. instead, he’s going to ask for a sheet of paper on which he will write an indiscernible letter to carmen. (the same letter will be seen in at the carmen brand outerwear hq a few scenes later for continuity, but unopened at the time, as if carmen’s not yet ready to read it. i feel like both of them need to heal a bit on their own before they’re ready to reconnect. gray knows he has hurt carmen in the past but he also knows it will hurt her if he disappears without a trace, so he’s leaving her with the choice if she wants to see him again instead of making the choice for her.)

ivy & zach & found family: carmen leaves a note behind for ivy and zach and leaves to find her mother. i feel like this did not handle team red’s found family very well. basically, the whole show is setting up this importance of family, especially found family not blood family kind of narrative. vile blood runs in carmen’s veins but she chooses to do good and find her own family. ivy and zach both choose carmen, their found family, over their racing career. i think that they should have stuck together, and when carmen goes to find her mom, they would have been totally onboard dropping her off at the airport and saying a “see you soon” or actually driving her to carlotta valdez’s house in lydia (the car). i just don’t think that splitting them up via a note is really a satisfying conclusion to the whole found family aspect. and in that time skip carmen really should have stopped by to say hi to the zach and ivy and the acme squad instead of maintaining the air of mystery. that would have definitely pushed the family feel, instead of the mysterious loner archetype. 

that time skip thing: yeah, no. this part was completely not needed and unhelpful. instead, we’re going to have carmen hug her mother at the airport, and go to visit all of her friends and found family, especially shadowsan in japan and ivy and zach in presumably boston. and the time skip will be a few onths not two effing years. i think it’s natural for them to grow apart a bit and pursue their own personal goals in life after vile’s gone, but they’ll definitely be staying in touch and reconnecting and seeing each other pretty often. and lastly of all, carmen will meet gray at the cafe in sydney.

basically, this is how i would redo the episodes for season 4. 

episode 1: the beijing bullion caper. (this episode remains as is for the most part, i would like more expansion on lady doksu and shadowsan's past since it seems like their pasts are more tied together than is revealed)

episode 2: the big bad ivy caper. (this episode remains as is for the most part.)

episode 3: the robo caper. (the scenes in which carmen first meets the robot and ivy runs it over with a truck can stay the same. where we start to deviate is with gray’s story with a revised, more complex, and in depth view of his moral struggles. instead of being unaware largely as gray flops between graham/crackle, he’s going to be a lot more aware. he’s still going to rob the house, but instead it’s because he feels hopeless that since he was previously a criminal, that’s all he’s ever going to be. gray doesn’t want to be a civilian, and feels like the only thing that he can do instead is be a part of vile. however, when he sees carmen again, he’s going to realize that if she got out of vile, then that means he has a chance to get out of it too. gray comes to a crossroads of deciding between carmen and vile, good and evil. 

episode 4: this will be the episode that concentrates on tigress, with a cleo/saira b-plot. most of this episode will take place within vile, and give more insights on the workings of the organization. 

episode 5: the himalayan rescue caper. (this episode is going to get a real makeover. with the insertion of episode 4, this creates more actual space between the last time we see gray grappling with his big choices, which makes it feel like more time has passed. so it actually feels like he had more time to think. carmen’s still going to try to rescue gray, and the part with player can stay the same. as gray is manipulated by malestrom, i think this episode should further emphasize how vile manipulates their recruits and amp up the shittiness of how malestrom is acting. i think malestrom should say something along the lines indicating that vile is gray’s only family left, this is what he was born to do, he belongs with them, and make up a bunch of bullshit lies about carmen. malestrom will portray this stuff as the “truth” and then say something like “we told you to the full truth, while carmen was hiding your past from you. didn’t you say you wanted to piece together more of your past?” (which gray did express interest in a previous episode.) since more time has passed, malestrom will play the “if carmen wanted to rescue you, she would have done so already. she abandoned you.” card. of course, it’s not easy to get into a super advanced vile facility, so instead carmen’s going to be having more struggles with getting in, which is the real reason she’s taking a while.) i want to keep the scene where he says that his name is crackle, not gray and not graham. i think this scene is particularly painful because graham/crackle is kind representative of the two sides of good and evil that gray thinks he has to choose between. gray will accuse carmen of abandoning him, both in the present but demonstrating that he’s still hurt by the time when she first left vile, and all those times when she kept secrets from him and disappearing in sydney. carmen asks him to leave with her, but instead of him being like “i’m bad, and i was always a villain,” he’s just going to be hurt and feel manipulated and be so conflicted. i feel like gray would choose vile, but not because it’s where he belongs but because he’s afraid of being brainwashed again if he doesn’t agree and because he just wants to know the truth, which vile happened to tell him first (and carmen had been hiding it from him for a while). why would it make sense for gray to willingly side with vile because he’s “throughly bad?” actions speak louder than words, and it’s clear that he’s definitely not evil enough for vile. 

episode 6: the vile history caper. (we’re just going to keep this episode as is for the most part. but like more el topo and le chevre moments.) 

episode 7: this will be the coach brunt backstory episode, piggybacking off of her hurt feelings about maelstrom’s intended betrayal. 

episode 8: the egyptian decryption caper. (this one is just going to be as is for the most part. the cleaners kidnap carmen, but we’re going insert one more painstaking scene of gray learning of vile’s plan to kidnap carmen. he’s not going to know they are planning to brainwash her. he’s going to feel conflicted and try to protest, but then realizes that now that he’s stuck with vile, if he goes against them he’s probably going to get brainwashed himself. and the brainwashing was really traumatizing, so it’s understandable he’s really afraid of it happening to him again.)

episode 9: the viennese waltz caper. (mostly just keeping this episode as is, but more worrying gray scenes. i feel like he should have had a bigger reaction to seeing carmen so unlike her personality. carmen’s lack of empathy should have pushed himself to question if vile is really a healthy place for anyone if they’re so willing to brainwash his best friend in a greater capacity. i think gray should recognize how bad the situation is but he still won’t act upon it since he’s trapped in the nostalgia of their old squad and since he’s been abandoned by carmen before, he’s too afraid that reversing the brainwashing will result in a repeat of her leaving him again. and he’s still afraid of the brainwashing.) 

episode 10 + 11 + 12. the dark red caper. (yeah, this episode is kind of just way too quickly wrapped up. i’m going to expand this into a three parter so we have more time to focus on everyone. basically, we’re going to expand this for the angst. and because this is the last season and i need more content. i feel like we can follow the general plot trajectory but with more nuance and include the improvements i wrote above about the finale. absolutely pushing the found family trope to its limits, and less vagueness since there’s not going to be another season. oh yeah, and the scene when carmen fights shadowsan, i feel like they could have amped up the emotional stuff and make it as much as about him being her dad figure as the doll because #foundfamily. and also the extra time gives more space for all of that other stuff like endings for all the characters, and more team red found family, and a bit about the non-jailed vile operatives, and the acme team, and also maybe a little infrastructure rebuilding montage, and also that carmen and gray moment.)  

basically i just want a satisfying ending for gray, and i love him, and he can’t just stare out of the hospital bedroom and agree to stay out of her life while melancholy music plays.

S5 Ep 15 Pt 2: Don’t Trust Anyone Who Wears a Floor Length Robe Over Their Casuals in Yugioh

Hey, it’s my birthday, so I’m gonna release this early because the rest of today I just have to work like an adult and that’s no fun.

In the first half of this episode we dunked the worlds smallest plane into a lake and so this second half of the episode involved the kids running as far away from their only responsible adults as they could.

Which like...took whole of less than a second for them to peace out and enter mortal danger.

...I’ve never been in a jungle in India but...I have seen the Jungle book many times...and there’s like tigers and stuff in there, right? and tons of monkeys that are hella mean? And freakin snakes? They sing jazz and scat? That’s some terrifying stuff.

Like these city kids have to learn at some point to fear the woods. But they just freakin don’t. And strangely, the most dangerous thing in these woods isn’t even a snake or something, but a human man just being as suspicious as possible lying prone on the ground.

The card cultist happens to have a British accent, because this voice acting team freakin loves to pull out their British accents. It’s not as lowbrow as Valon, but it’s not as...well whatever Bakura is supposed to be. He’s a lot more tame than Bakura’s, but still very British.

I don’t know if this is because British English tends to be taught instead of American sounding English in many parts of India, but, most likely they just wanted to do an accent. And like...he’s an archeologist...and so the stereotype is there...but honestly, the decision of making this guy British gets weirder and weirder as this episode goes on, get ready for it. None of you are ready for what I assume is the very obvious plot twist of this freakin guy.

Catfish of the century, this freakin guy, I’m pretty sure.

Yugi immediately believes this completely out of place white British stranger in the Indian backwoods next to this inaccessible lake and immediately thinks “yes, my Grandfather crash landed in India EXACTLY where I’m standing right now, and now I must save him.”

Thankfully, Yami exists to gently and politely tell Yugi to hella stop.

Also, I like that Yugi has finally stopped wearing his school outfit out of school. But, he is instead wearing a jacket that is so close to his school outfit I honestly couldn’t tell until the end of this episode. It’s like...I think one shade more purple, it has white piping, and his undershirt has a center seam. It’s nice Yugi has 3 versions of the same black sleeveless undershirt, and this show cares enough to show that tiny factoid about Yugi’s closet.

So, because Yugi is a dumbass and Pharaoh has to just sit back and watch this happen so he can say “told you so” later, they follow this random cultist they found in the woods. Much like Hansel and Gretel, we snack on cake crumbs all the way to the witches house, which in this case, is an undiscovered monolith you would have easily seen from outer space.

HMMMMMMMMMM.

Hey guys.

Remember how Alexander the great was buried in a pyramid?

Now because they’re name dropping Alexander, that’s actually kind of helpful, because Alexander the Great’s favorite damn horse in the entire world died while he was at war with India so he named a city after it. It’s believed to be in Punjab, which is in the Northern part of India

Which means we first of all, definitely crossed the tallest mountain range in the world to get here, and also means that we are like...in some really disputed territory of India right now, and it is crazy that these kids went here for a vacation completely unsupervised.

Another fun fact about Alexander is that when he died, it took 6 days for his body to decompose. At the time, they thought it was because he was a God (or in Yugioh’s case, Extremely Cursed) but nowadays historians think it’s because it took him 6 days to fully die. He just wasn’t dead yet. Had to give it a minute and the ancient Babylonians just got way too excited.

Anyway, Alexander super died in Babylon so I don’t know what the hell he’s doing in India. There is a fun spot in History where his body did get dragged to a couple different places, meaning we probably did lose the original Alexander and there’s a lot of people just guessing at where he ended up...but putting him clear up in India sure was a choice when one of his assumed burial sites was literally Egypt, which would be a more fitting location for a Pyramid and a more fitting location for this show.

Especially since Alexander was trying to invent a new race and culture...it seems a little strange he’d be buried in such a massive pyramid, but maybe he got a really, really good pyramid deal from the funeral home when he was like 28 and just figured he’d change it before the time he died at 32.

Which...now that I’m older than 32, how crazy is it that Alexander the Great died at freakin 32? You blink twice and you’re 32. Is history seriously trying to tell me this guy wasn’t like secretly 62? That maybe he just celebrated his 20th for like 20 years in a row as a royal mandate? I just feel like history is playing pranks on me with Alexander.

Anyway, our weird shady new archeologist guy is named Alex and so take that as you will.

I sure hope Alexander the Great was revived to wear khakis and bother children. Guy conquered the world once and was one of history’s Freakin Worst so he does deserve it, but also...it would explain why he thinks it’s normal to wear a Darth Maul robe over your business casual.

Anyway, lets enter the obvious trap pyramid.

Joey just wanted a nice time running around Northern India. He just wanted to eat some yummy chaat and look at some tourist destinations and maybe glance at a Bollywood star or two. But instead he’s gotta deal with spike floors because Yugi couldn’t say no to a cultist.

Also...one of those spikes clearly went through Tea’s feet, right? And she is absolutely fine? Just checking on Tea’s godlike strength and clearly it is still godlike.

Alex gives us a very long explanation of how he went upstairs and Grandpa went downstairs, and there was a door or something so Alex turned back around and Grandpa was gone.

All of those steps were probably plot relevant and I’ll probably forget all about it in 2 episodes.

The thing is Alex...literally thinks he evaporated. Literally thinks that. But how do you disprove it to this freakin guy who like...might have named a city after his horse once and thinks that’s a normal and acceptable thing to do?

and so Joey immediately leaps onto the haunted playing floor.

the way Yugi said this line was sort of hilarious to me so I may cap it. If I remember to do it (I’ve been a little busier lately, with things opening up, as you can tell because my update schedule is in the toilet.)

So, if Joey jumps in...everyone else has to, also.

And we say good bye to Alex and enter the new forest zone, which looks a LOT like the other forest we were just in.

We get some hijinks from the local wildlife, which are all cards but real (but not real because we’re in a board game...don’t think about it) and the off brand Sheikah tablets have helpful monsters in them if you touch em.

This season may have been better off as a video game, being honest.

Joey has gone somewhere else, despite going onto the same game tile, and he’s too busy on a mountain range to really help anyone out. So he’s just gonna vibe up here for a bit.

Tea got up after this point and said along the lines of “k, what’s next?” Because mortal danger does not affect her and she fears nothing.

At a beach somewhere, Tea and Tristan spend some quality time together forming a new family with whatever these creatures are.

And Tea’s love of her winged angel comes full circle and now I will suffer this winged orb for the rest of this arc, pretty sure.

Please admire the number of belts on Tea. Her outfit is like max 00′s and I appreciate that. We’ve had a lot of questionable fashion on Yugioh, but they actually dressed Tea pretty on point this arc. Like I often feel like 00′s fashion is hard to define or describe, but it’s Tea right now. That’s it. She did it, it’s right there.

Yugi gets a new flagship card for this arc, and this time it’s Celtic Guardian. Hell why? I feel like his defining card changes every single arc, and they need to like focus and just give him one. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s still Dark Magician...and maybe the show forgot?

I think I forgot that link in the last recap because yo it’s kind of been a while since I’ve updated, I feel. (well I had a graveyard post and those don’t count really) But, we’re back, we’re still going, slowly but surely.

(Long post about my experience with the gods and advice for beginners and adepts alike concerning heathenry. They're numbered so scroll down if you just want those. I'm not nice on some of them cuz some of you are dipshits.)

When I did trance every day for five years straight, it took a lot out of me. Then when I wrote my book, I felt like I had done what I had to do in that moment. I could finally relax and idk, be myself? There's a certain kind of intensity when it comes to possession. I had control, but it was also like part of me wasn't me? If that makes sense. My thoughts were mine, but I could feel an influence pushing me towards certain actions.

When I stopped, it took me really until now, before I was able to pick it back up again. Which is around five to six years ago. Funny, that I did all that in a decade. I just don't feel the need for trance anymore, and after experiencing it, and the community that comes with that, I just want to say a few things.

1. Take time to yourself. The gods can wait until you've gotten your time. Don't feel pressured into doing shit that's going to stress you out, especially if it's by someone in the community.

2. Don't let people make you think the gods will punish you if you don't perform magic or trance. You don't need to know or learn any of that to worship the gods.

3. If you do learn trance, you need to realize that not everybody is going to be like you. You don't have to make it a profession, or it be the same for every person. We all have different experiences with the gods. Our relationships are different. Do your thing, let others do theirs. Don't stress so much about doing the right trance session etc. Just cuz a thing works that way for you, doesn't mean it works that way for everybody.

4. Instead of trying to find the gods in some other world by using your mind to connect to them spiritually, maybe go out into nature to find them. Their works are all around us, and we should be able to worship, and just go sit by a tree without thinking about that raven cawing and thinking it's Odin. Sometimes a raven is just a raven doing raven things, but at the same time, it's still part of Odin. It doesn't have to mean anything is being said to you.

5. Really important, Live Your Life! There's always a place for worship, trance, religion, but that should never come before yourself and your responsibilities. I don't always sing my hymns when I wake up. I just wait sometimes. At the end of the day though it's what I personally choose to do. You're allowed to do your own thing! Stop thinking you have to compete or be like everyone else. You fucking Don't

6. If you're gonna talk about history, actually look stuff up from professional archeologists and linguistic professors. Do Not rely solely on YouTube or trance/spirit workers. Modern pagan sources are not reliable. They're often misinformed or exaggerated.

7. Stop Hating On People Who Have A Different Practice or Belief Than You Do! It's rude, offensive, and completely nonsensical. Stop it. Hate has no place in what we do, and that goes for hating on Christians because they stole Christmas. No they didn't. Stop that shit. Pagan and Christian ideals are very meshed together because history does that. There is no pure anything, there's no original anything. Everything has a past before its past and so on.

8. Cultural appropriation is not a thing in heathenry, (unless you're actively stealing from another cultures way, such as the sami, which is not norse in the first place) the gods are well integrated into varying kinds of culture now, it doesn't just belong to white people, and even when it was in Scandinavia, history proves that anyone could be norse. Stop your racist bullshit.

9. No one is right or wrong. This is a belief, it isn't something you can simply call a God up on the phone to personally ask them what their stance is on something. You can't have them send you a fax. You can't go to their office and find the file that says your name and number. No one is right, and no one is wrong. You can be wrong historically, but you cannot be wrong about your personal beliefs. How you gonna tell somebody they're wrong for believing something? You could, but it's nonsensical.

I don't care if you disagree. These are issues, hard and soft of what I've seen and experienced in the community. If you dislike that, idk, maybe look at yourself instead of bothering others with these issues. You can think I'm wrong all you want, but it's still my experience. :P

1.What’s their closet like? Do they have a lot of clothes or just a few staples?

Atlas - He's got a lot of neutral and dark tones in his closet, and a lot of comfortable basics. He's not really a staples guy, unless you count a grey graphic t-shirt as a staple.

Kenn - He's definitely got some good staples you guys have yet to see >:) his closet is a lot more colorful, but usually revolves around warm tones like red and orange. Macey - She's definitely got a lot of staple pieces, like that coat(?) from the one time she was really around, over a basic top and biker shorts. I really like stylling my female sims, they just come more easily. Elena - Elena was not made by me, but I can tell you she's got some amazing staple pieces! Her formal wear, WOOO she looks like she's a hollywood star going to her movie premiere! She's really cute, I love her, thank you again @gerbitfizz for making her for me! Thaddeus - Thadd from accounting is a comfy clothes guy. I know we haven't seen much of it, but he's just a chill dude. That said, he is usually shirtless in his own house.

Atlas - Probably a text app like Whatsapp, Sim spotify, or the sim version of tumblr.

Kenn - Probably Simstagram to show off his paintings and find sponsers. But he also would have Youtube playing almost 24/7, mans doesn't believe in spotify

Macey - Simstagram and Snapchat, which might feel a bit cliché for a 'atractive female with bad personality', but most of the people I met irl that were like her used those two irl apps religiously.

Elena - Idk if she'd use any particular apps really, unless the internet app on phones counts. If so, then she'd use that a lot to check out things related to archeology and stuff. If there was an archeology major in Sims University she'd be taking it, so let's imagine she keeps tabs on the best archeology colleges and is trying to get a schollarship

Atlas - Deep down, yes! But he still needs to manage his stage fright and anxiety before he gets into that. So he says.

Kenn - He would love it! It's not his main goal with his art, but it would definitely be enjoyed!

Macey - Technically she's in the criminal carrier, so if she became famous it would probably be for something bad, so idk if she'd like it very much cause it would also mean she would've got caught.

Elena - Yeah, I can see her being happy about being famous, like a famous archeologist!

Thaddeus - He secretly wants to go into acting, so yeah if he went down that route he would very much enjoy getting fame from it!

Day 5, Dramatic Rescue

These aren’t to be taken too seriously, I even put (crack) after the more ridiculous ones because I’m so benevolent. Some of these are very outta context, so don’t get worried if you don’t em lol- also, ignore any and all typos bc I didn’t proof read this, it jus came straight from tha dome to this post <3

-Whenever Sho laughs, he causes Asuka to laugh and vice versa- this has caused Manjoume so many headaches, he hates being in the same room as them when they get like that

-Placing a flat hand on Johan’s chest grounds/calms him down (making small circles helps too!) Johan is not conscious of this fact, but the rest of the friend group has picked up on it, half em knowingly, and the others unknowingly lol

-Kenzan is gay and trans, he also has an older sister

-Junko and Momoe don’t do anything dueling related when they graduate, and they also don’t get an influential job their parents wanted them to have

-The two have their own houses, but they end up staying at the other’s for weeks regardless

-Through a series of hijinks and shenanigans, Motegi, Taizan, Alice, and Kagurazaka end up going on wacky adventures together- they become good friends despite how they have almost nothing in common

-Judai once had a girlfriend during first year, but they were so unromantic and just hung out with eachother as friends, that they forgot they were even dating (crack)

-Kenzan and Rei are still best friends in college, they even went to the same one somehow

-Kenzan often helps Sho out at the dojo when he has time, and while he’s no longer on the path to becoming an archeologist, he still goes with Jim on any digs he goes on, or just discuss stuff about it lol

-Martin is genderfluid, that’s it, that’s the whole hc

-The only reason Martin’s dad was able to continue seeing him was because Martin convinced him to talk to his mom, and they all discussed when and how he could visit him (after alot of yelling and more fights) but his mom only budged because they never actually signed the divorce papers and Martin really wanted to connect with him again, and that’s honestly the main reason she even considered it (this is a very dumbed down version)

-Judai’s flakey with all his friends still, but he’s in contact with Misawa, O’brien, and Edo, in that order lol

-He’s mostly in contact with Misawa since he still lives in the dark dimension, so it’s easier for Judai to comfortably drag him along everywhere

-Asuka and Kenzan are the buff mom friends of the group- no I will not be taking questions on this

-Junko’s a whore and an adrenaline junkie, no I will not be taking questions on this either (this is more for when she’s older, but she did date around in school)

-Judai’s parents are actually very supporting and dot on Judai whenever they remember he exists- in fact, they’re very independent people, so they barely even see each other or call, so they also neglect each other lmao

-Edo likes to play matchmaker, but he’s actually good at being subtle, so no one notices-plus he doesn’t do unless he’s around the people in question, he doesn’t care to go out of his way (crack)

-Jim was the first person O’brien took to see his parents, and Jim was in awe that he didn’t take Judai first

-Asuka has to call Fubuki at night whenever her paranoia gets too bad, and she’s afraid he’s gone again

-Asuka also tends to overthink and overwork, so she typically has to write lists and repeat what she’s done during the day so she feels like she done enough to deserve rest (yea, this one’s not happy lol)

-Judai actually forgot his memories twice, the first time after the card contest, and the second time right before he left to the academy (I like to think his middle school and academy self are like two completely different people, just so we have another Haou on our hands lol- this can be considered crack)

-Hayato is the type to be constantly anxious about losing his friends, but never contacting them because the nerves make him nausea, and just downright feel bad

-Sho often calls Hayato sporadically just to ramble, Hayato enjoys them alot, and it reassures him that he can just call them and talk about anything (these two hcs are at constant war with each other) (Sho also knows that this helps reassure Hayato lol)

-After Ryo started distancing himself from Sho, he would feel so bad that he would talk himself in circles to Fubuki, and Fubuki would just nod along each time and be, “man, I don’t know what to tell you; either commit or go talk to your little brother”

-O’brien gives the best hugs in the group, everyone is delighted whenever he gives out the rare hug

-Taizan doesn’t have any powers, he’s just so strong that lesser duel spirits are attracted to him, and bigger spirits can materialize if they respect him enough lol

-Alice and Judai are siblings- this is never discussed with each other, they just are

-Kagurazaka is so embarrassed by his high school (and middle school) self that he ends up working at a friends bakery after graduating, and he likes to show off his analysis and psychological skills by guessing the customers orders and favourites lol

-Motegi and Judai are like siblings with too big of an age gap so they never really connected, but they still care for each other a lot-- y’know what I mean? Ya gotta know what I mean---

-Asuka is aro demi, that’s it, that’s the entire hc----

-Burstlady once set the red dorm on fire because she wanted to show off to Judai...by boiling some tea that doesn’t really need that much heat- anyways, she was so embarrassed that Judai just lied and said he wasn’t paying attention lmao

-Glow Moss is something of a cold blooded animal despite, y’know, not having blood- whenever they want to feel warm he just kinda sticks to one of the warmer monsters; they hate it when they do that because they’re like silly putty that’s just a little too sticky

-Sho is dyslexic, no one notices til they graduate

-After everything’s settled down, everyone has jobs, in college,etc., the crew plan big outings with each other and due to past experiences, Asuka or Jim have to be the “leader” when they go out because they’re the only two “actual” responsible ones- Edo and O’brien don’t care to keep everyone in check, Kenzan, Misawa(also, Misawa’s alot more lenient since he’s gotten older), and Rei are too easily swayed into doing stupid things, plus they forget to check on everyone, Ryo doesn’t even want to come to these, Fubuki encourages the others too much, and everyone else is too chaotic

-Whenever they can’t do these outings in a big group, they have to actually plan out who gets to be in a group together because certain combinations end in property damage or a restraining order

Favorite Benny books?

Ok so. Tumblr crashed as I was typing this on mobile. I am retyping it on desktop cause fuck this site, and I Have Opinions, and my friend I will let you hear them or so help me!

.... This got. Really. Really long. I am adding a read more to spare you guys from that.

Ok so! As a preface, I haven't read many VNAs with Benny in it, and of her solo books, I still have 2 of her Legion books to read.

I'm going to (re)start this with the VNAs!

Love and War: a very classic answer perhaps, but it is a really good introduction for Benny, even if the book has its flaws and can certainly show its age nowadays. Cornell absolutely nails her right off the bat, and from her very first page, Benny is just a character that keeps you interested. Not only does she work great as a counter to both Seven and Ace, but she also brings a breath of life to the whole range the way only a prose character can.

Plus, I think one of the greatest successes of that book lies in how Benny appears as a rounded and flawed person from the beginning. She’s not your ordinary girl dragged to a whirlwind of adventure and an universe of wonders, but an older, adult woman, with a good chunk of life experience and adventures already behind her, and while setting foot inside the TARDIS opens up a new and unexpected chapter in her life, it does also remain just that. A chapter. Benny had a life before the Doctor, and from that moment, while noone could have predicted it then, she would have one after him as well.

The Left-Handed Hummingbird: I just finished that one last week, so it’s obviously both fresh in my mind, and one I'm thinking highly of at the moment. Well I mean, it’s Orman! Or course I love it. She really is great at writing both intricate, large stories, and yet focusing on the personal, on the human side of things. And I find that this book does a great job at putting benny in the role of the grounding presence both for ace and the doctor, as well as exploring how time traveling as they do, and dealing with seven’s schemes can be frustrating for benny. That whole tardis team is a mess, and none of these people really… work well together, but it’s because they’re so dysfunctioning that they’re fascinating, and orman absolutely nails that.

Theater of War: A very different type of book, it is honestly a fun romp, and it has Benny being an actual archeologist, down to dealing with the academia side of things. And it’s the little things, but I love it when Benny books remember that about her tbh? Also, it has some nice theater theming, and well, as an introduction for brax, it certainly works well! It’s one of those VNAs that I think is just fun. A well crafted story with good takes on the characters, that’s always enjoyable to me!

Return of the Living Dad: Orman again?? What a surprise! But frankly, I love how this book is all about Benny and her daddy issues, be it with the Doctor or well, her actual dad. Between that, her budding marriage with Jason, and finding out so many old wounds reopened, I just. Really love how raw Benny can be under Orman’s pen? How underneath it all, she still has that side of the scared orphan that lost both parents to a war she was far, far too young to ever comprehend, and how that just left her rebelling against the world in general, and resenting deep down her parents for that abandon. I mean, it’s neat character stuff, but it can very easily be written as dull & cliche shitte you know? And Orman really… always get down to the heart of it all, and boi does it make for some great reading.

The Dying Days: It’s a very fun book, and well, technically works as the first round for Benny as the lead woman after all! It’s a joy all throughout, triumphant where it needs to be, and managing to both celebrate the Doctor and what he brought to the VNAs, as well as setting up the stage for Benny to go on to her own range. It’s basically one last run of the old team, and well. I do love Benny & Eight, and yes I am blaming Parkin for it. Also, big brained take to have Eight give her Wolsey because I love that cat and Benny deserves a cute kitty in her life. We all do.

Ok!! Now on to the NA, and my personal favorite era!

Dragon’s Wrath: It’s a fun one!! I do really like the story being centered again on archeology first and foremost, and it’s a good romp that has some really good take on Benny. Especially the trial scenes, I love how those one get down to Benny as someone who despite everything, loves history, and cares very very deeply about the artifacts she uncovers. Also, it introduces brax as a mainstay of the dellah era, and does so in a rather nice way. Overall, a very enjoyable book!

Beyond the Sun: Benny & students stranded on a planet with mystery to uncover, that’s already a fun premise, and then throw in all the various queer themes present, especially with Emile, and the whole scene of them all in drag performing on top of a bus, and it’s just a rather good book. Plus, I love how it mirrors the whole VNA Doctor mantra, except with a very Benny twist. Sometimes cruel, sometimes cowardly, but trying her damndest to do good. And well, that’s just Benny isn’t it? I always harp on about the very heart of Benny being her humanity, and if there’s something that book highlights, it’s that.

Deadfall: Jason takes center stage in this one, and well, I do really love Jason. It’s overall a fun book with some nice lore ideas, and I love how it works Cwej in the whole Dellah setting. Also, at least it’s a story with Jason in the lead that doesn’t end in utter tragedy, and that’s always nice!

Tempest: Ok so. That book isn’t great. The story’s cliche, the characters aren’t the best, and the plot itself? Forgettable, it’s another in the list of “sort of base under siege story in the dellah era” which you’d think wouldn’t be super common and yet! So… why am I listing it here? Cause the concept of the planet!! The idea of a world of storms and disaster, run through via a blind train as the only means of transport? The fantastic animal life described in it??? That book left an impression of me, and that’s not something I can say of all of the others.

The Medusa Effect: … Justin Richard writes a good Benny. Like, legit. I love how that one really works with the setting & history of Dellah, and gives further information on the planet’s involvement with the Dalek war. Plus, it also got some really, really nice aesthetics. I am soft for good aesthetics ok? Benny, dancing with a skeleton on the deck of an old spaceship made to look like a cruise liner in an hallucination/dream sequence type of thing? Sign me right up!

Beige Planet Mars: That one is a blast. I remember just, absolutely loving it when I read it tbh. Between the overall description of Mars, the further Lore Implication of the Mars invasion & all that, as well as it basically being one last round of more… Normal dellah books before everything goes to hell? It’s one i’d highly recommend if you want to have a good time.

Tears of the Oracle: Probably my favorite of that whole range? (apart from dead romance, which I am not counting as a benny book) I love just, how much overall… feelings isn’t quite the words i’m looking for, but i can’t think of a better way to put it… there is throughout the book? It was thought to be the end of the NA as it was written and well, that shows. I love how it weaves the whole mystery of “what happened to that legendary archaeologists?” with the whole side of what’s basically some of the only survivors from dellah going on one last round of discovery. The status quo of the range was destroyed quite a few books before that one, but imo, it’s there that they take the time to stop for a bit, and just. Deals with what that means in actuality. And ngl, I love the entire sequence of Benny & Brax walking through the wreckage of what used to be their home, it’s a scene that works really, really well.

And well, it does a great job at setting up the future as well after all! Yes, there’s still 3 books after it, but when you look at where Big Finish picked up… they went for what Tears of the Oracle was setting up. It really makes the transition flows well between those two, unlike my rambling for a full paragraph before going to “here’s the BF books I like”

The Doomsday Manuscript: A very good start for the range! Not only does it set up the whole collection, but it also introduces the Fifth Axis as a major threat, and does so in a wonderfully well paced book that keeps you hooked throughout. I like how it also sets up Jason’s loss as something Benny is still suffering over, as well as how she hasn’t lost hope in finding him again. Plus frankly, it’s also a really good story.

The Glass Prison: You’d think that for a book where Benny spends the majority of it in prison and not very active due to being near the end of her pregnancy, not much would happen, but the way Jacqueline Rayner builds up an atmosphere of unease, mistrust and a genuine disturbing ambiance throughout the book is just, fantastic.

Genius Loci: This book. This book!!! Ben Aaronovitch writes an absolutely powerful story of Benny as a young woman, lost and finding herself faced with far more responsibility than she ever thought possible. The way he writes the whole mystery, while also making Benny as a 20yo not only believable, but quite distinct from Benny as the adult we’ve all come to know and love is just. So good. My main grip with this book is how abruptly it ends, and how we’ll never get the sequel. I want to read Terra Incognita and more of Benny slowly finding herself damn it!

Dead Men Diaries: Just like Doomsday Manuscript, does a great job at establishing the collection as well as the recurring cast. I really enjoy most of the stories in it, and I think BF started out so strong on those books srsly!

A Life in Pieces: I love it so much. It’s pure brax at his most manipulative, and for such petty reasons. I really like how it both deals with the aftermath of the Fifth Axis occupation, as well as the repercussions Brax’s schemes have for the people living on the collection. Also, it’s just 3 very good novellas in a row that build up to something more, and I always like seeing that.

Nobody’s Children: That book has the best Draconian story in the entirety of doctor who and related. Like, yeah just that. It’s also nice to see the fallout of the Mim/Draconian war. It’s one I didn’t expect a lot out of, and frankly, I ended up really loving it.

The Vampire Curse: The middle novella is one I absolutely hated, but the other two are really good, and mixing benny and vampires is just, very fun. Also!! Predating the Predator is in it, and it is a really good take on vampires in a science fiction setting that also has some nice creep factor as well, and manages to be both a good vampire story, and a good sci fi story, which isn’t always an easy balance to find.

Life During Wartime: It’s a surprisingly hard hitting anthology about living under a fascist regime, and the compromises you have to make, the personal sacrifices and small rebellions. Honestly, there’s a lot I love about it, but certainly one of my favorite moment, is when Benny, having to dine with one of the officers, miss jones & jason, sees that the officer is nearly on to her hiding peter away, and that split second moment of “if I have to, I am willing to kill everyone in this room to protect my son” before he just laughs it off, it’s a lot of tiny moments that build up to a really well done ambiance tbh.

Something Changed: While it did the terrible, terrible sin of introducing Doggles to the world, I really love the concept of every chapter after the first being a different split universe, and how they’re all spiraling more & more out of control. It’s got some really good stories in between too, though they can also be rather hit & miss. An aspect I love about it too is how impactful Wolsey’s death ends up being.

Present Danger: That one is fun, I love how it’s basically everyone vs the deindum, a situation slipping more and more out of control, mixed with some neat stuff one the deindum’s whole temporal deal. It’s again a bit hit & miss, but it’s still a blast, and as the last anthology of the collection era, it does send it all off with a bang.

Welp. Far, far too many words later, and here we are!!! I love Benny a lot ngl, and I genuinely think that prose is the medium best suited for her. I have been rather disappointed with the more modern books, I find them far more bland than what I personally expect from Benny but ah well. Can’t always get everything.

And while it’s neither a book, nor even an official story in any mean, the fanfic “Sepelio” that’s an Hannibal au set in the Dellah era is great, and the benny story I have been enjoying the most lately. I would be remiss not to at least mention it!
