Do you have any ideas about what each of the TDP character’s music taste would be like?
This can include music from literally any era and/or culture
OH MY GOD I've been waiting SO LONG to have this asked to me, SO
First things first, I remember commenting somewhere on a post about Soren and Corvus' "song" that to Corvus, their song was something by Mitski, and to Soren, their song was like. I Am A Gummy Bear so write that down for them
In all seriousness I feel like Soren would like exclusively parody, joke songs. Weird Al, Danny Gonzalez, etc etc. And his ass has definitely listened to the Beast Mode Spotify playlist before
Claudia- Taking a page out of 2018 Tumblr's interpretation of Claudia as her being super goth and saying she listens to MCR or smth like that. idk I know nothing about goth music. Either that or TV girl
Terry- it would be low-hanging fruit to say he listens to Cavetown. It would be less low-hanging fruit to say he does not pay attention to lyrics in the slightest. Only tune. His playlist is the most chaotic, genre-free mess you'll ever see. It has several Christmas songs on it. He listens to it year round. Everyone is terrified of him
Callum- he's one of those queer teenage boys who listen exclusively to 80's rock. He defends the Beatles with his life (Rayla is the one he has to defend them from)
Rayla- Sneers at Callum for his love songs. Laughs at him for grinning while walking around blasting soft rock. Looks down on everyone who listens to non-instrumental music. Does not listen to lyrics music. Definitely has NOT cried to sad Conan Gray and Harry Styles songs at 1:00 am before, please stop asking
Ezran- he just listens to whatever everyone else wants to listen to tbh. He has had to mediate music-related arguements in the car before
Runaan- only listens to classical music from the Renaissance era
Kazi- idk what they'd listen to exactly (maybe like, dark academia shit) but the important thing is that they have a different playlist for everything. Going to a cafe? There's a playlist for that. Taking the bus? There's a playlist for that. Watering their cacti? There's a playlist for that. Anyone can ask them for a playlist with any concept and they'd have it, as well as a lengthy anecdote as to why.
Gren: I absolutely hate doing this to him but. Gren listens to the most agressively white man music ever. Cotton Eyed Joe is his favourite song. He knows all the lyrics to Sweet Home Alabama. He's also one of those people who never makes a playlist, just listens to music raw and randomly. You could tell him you made him a playlist and play one of those "songs that excite the white folk" and he would be ever so thankful that you made him this playlist that caters exactly to his taste. Gren I am so so sorry I did this to you but it was needed
I want you to know I have agressively slapped my hand over my mouth several times while writing this like some sort of cartoon villain

caught up with cringetober because I literally forgot to do it, individuals and explanations under cut
Tumblr media
Day 1: Heterochromia I’ve come to the revaluation that my sona is already cringe as hell considering not only can his entire body change color but he also has differently colored eyes as a staple of his design. They’re usually yellow and blue but this time I color picked the blue from the trans flag and the mint from the Vincian flag for this color palette, it turned out really pretty :)
Tumblr media
Day 2: Self Insert Now she isn’t my self insert anymore, but back in the day when I was at “peak cringe” she definitely was. This is my warriors OC Icypelt and I have a post going over part of her story on my profile somewhere. She’s been through a lot and I think her modern design is very pretty :)
Tumblr media
Day 3: Unnecessarily complex fit/design Spider scene is kinda infamous in my brain for having wayyy too much detail but I love them and I think this might be my favorite one out of this batch, super cute, the pose is really cute and the colors are nice and fits her really well :D
Tumblr media
day 4: Angel x Devil inevitable MCR reference ik, Helena and Revenge, love them dearly. Poor revenge man this one is cute and looks like a sticker!!
Tumblr media
Day 6 (I skipped day 5 because I didn’t want to open up ms paint today): neko i kinda hate this one but cat Gerard yay
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 7: Pinterest base at first I wanted to draw hobie in place of Gwen but I remembered that I haven’t really drawn Mikey with her even though they’re supposed to be friends so I drew her instead. Idk. The height difference is not accurate because of that but Jumping Spider is small because he’s based on a jumping spider and those are tiny who would have thought
Tumblr media
Day 8: tumblr sexyman i have never played undertale a day in my life i just know a lot of people wanted to jump sans’ bones
Tumblr media
day 9: Crossover ship/rarepair OH BOY THIS ONE GOES KIND OF HARD AND IM EMBARRASSED ABOUT IT BECAUSE THEY KIND OF WORK FOR EACH OTHER UM MIGUEL OHARA X CLOTTED CREAM COOKIE IM INSANE OMG-
Tumblr media
day 10: fursona i already have a fursona I already drew and yes I colorpicked from the lesbian flag how could you tell /j
Tumblr media
Day 11: Yandere LYLA is technically canonically a yandere because spoiler alert she tried to kill Miguel’s fiancé via overheating her in the shower (essentially literally boiling her like a lobster) because she was “in love” with him (she said if she did have autonomy and had feelings the would be in love with him but she doesn’t but idk who knows I don’t).
Tumblr media
day 12: niche interest ik MCR isn’t exactly “niche” but the black parades story in particular has always caught my interest and I have my own interpretation of it and a whole kind of story I’m still developing and character arcs and headcanons and interactions and yeah you get it, death in particular has evolved into god knows an OC on his own I just keep him attached to MCR because… it makes more sense that way, ig-
Tumblr media
day 13: creepypasta does this count- whatever grimdark is just the same thing as a creepypasta- I’m not really in the MLP fandom anymore but it was my first ever “fandom” I was actually apart of. My first hyperfixation if you will. I wasn’t in the grimdark part of the fandom because I was too young for it but I was actually watching the izzzyzzz grimdark video and I was like “oh” and drew a rainbow factory Rainbowdash. Honestly I should draw ponies more they’re fun to draw
Tumblr media
Day 14: candygore (?) im not good at drawing candygore and since I was rushing this o didn’t do it as well as I thought I can, but it still turned out pretty cool
Tumblr media
Day 15: song lyrics aaaa inevitable hesitant alien drawing this one turned out so cute!! The colors and the sparkle eek so cute aaa action cat lyrics I’m breaking down right in front of you I’m sorry
planning on doing the rest of the month now, maybe not exactly on time since I’m still in school but I’ll try to get 31 drawings out by Halloween. Love the idea of cringetober because I just love all things cringe. Ack this is so good

what do all of ur tags mean? :)
hi! sorry it took me so long to answer this. unfortunately, i suck
most of them are quotes or lyrics and most of them refer to concepts and motifs im obsessed with. i intend on having a tag for each of my fav characters and maybe someday i will, but i literally only have one for abigail hobbs. lmao. here they are:
and all the fears you hold so dear - my abigail tag. its from duvet, by bôa, and idk... it just suits her, i guess.
your feelings and mine are all holy - lesbian tag. what can i say? im a lesbian and to me, lesbian love IS holy. its from another bôa song, twilight.
at seventeen i started to starve myself - girlhood tag! i dont really know how to explain my choice for this tag, it just... fits. women starving themselves noth literally and metaphorically i guess? anyway. hunger by fatm.
if you could only see the beast you made of me - a tag for fathers. i will not be taking comment or speculation regarding my relationship with my father or my psychological state at the moment, thank you. howl is one of my favorite fatm songs, and i do have a lot of those.
you'll be sorry that you messed with me - this isnt really a religion tag; its more of a christianity tag. i am a pagan and actually very very religious, i just hate christianity. and god. its a lyric from florence's girls against god, a song that makes me cry if i think about the lyrics too much.
do i look moderate to you? - my tag for love. romantic love, that is. in an obsessed freak way. its the last of my tags thats a florence lyric, and this one is from moderation (another favorite).
someday you will ache like i ache - finally, a hole lyric! the first of well. a lot to come. this is my trauma tag, because i am a loser, and its from doll parts, because its a great song.
dog bait - also from doll parts, this is my werewolf tag
i fit right in your perfect skin - my tag for everything medical <3 i love that lyric and... yeah. medical shit Does fit right into your perfect skin. anyway, thats from reasons to be beautiful
was she asking for it? - just my deer tag. its from asking for it, and... i dont know, sometimes a girl is just feeling a little bit like a deer for once in her life ok
traditional inherited predispositional - runs in the family by amanda palmer. this one is for family stuff and its very much on the nose, just like all my other tags.
to carry on through cartilage and fluid - my last song lyric tag, from desert song by mcr. its just my death tag :)
just love me and eat - i love this quote so fucking much i got it tattooed on my chest last year. anyway, its from bones and all, and its the tag i use for romantic cannibalism (bc Yes, it IS important enough to be separated from the romance and the cannibalism tag, ok?)
to be eaten raw - started as my cannibalism tag, today its a catch all for cannibalism, gore and meat. is it me telling you its supposed to be eaten raw? is it musing about how it must be to be eaten raw? eh, i dont know. its not really that important though is it
thats most of them. the rest are self explanatory, but i do tag a few posts with 🧟 when i want them to go to my brother's tag (though mostly i just send them anything i want him to see)
not sure youre even gonna see this now thats been what, 6 months? but i hope your curiosity is sated <333

what are your favorite albums of all time? choose as many as you want idek
Oh, is this inspired by my "details" post? Hmm, okay, let's try this:
"Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, Vol. 1" by Coheed and Cambria. It's a concept album and I could not tell you the fucking concept outside of like... misogyny and violence. AND YET... it has stood the test of time. The guitar on every song FUCKS. Interesting vocal tone. Experimental and nonsensical FUN rock music.
"Europop" by Eiffel 65. The blue da ba dee album. The rest of it is really fucking good pop electronica. Or it's just so nostalgic to me I can't see how generic it is. IDC, the synth goes oFF without being too high energy.
"Details" by Frou Frou, obviously. Similarly, "Speak For Yourself" by Imogen Heap. While these albums don't contain my FAVORITE songs involving Imogen, they are my fave collections of her work. Music that feels like nostalgia--like guzzling a sparkling potion that bubbles inside you and pushes your sadness and fears and LOVE from your heart into your pores. Pop music for people who care about storytelling, lyrics, and true emotional connection.
"Multitude" by Stromae. Another, "Idk if fmy fave songs are on this album, but the project on the whole is the best one." Diverse sound, brilliant execution every time.
"Heart Station" by Utada Hikaru. Choosing a favorite Utada piece is hard but I think this has the tightest collection of tracks? Similar appeal to Imogen, though the musical influences are ethereal in a different way.
"Las Ruinas" by Rico Nasty. It's hard to even describe this album but I like how Rico keeps pushing new boundaries. I do like the dancier tracks here.
"Alive 2007" by Daft Punk.If you know Daft Punk, this is essentially a megamix of some of their best songs.
"Coloris" by She. Chiptune, electronica, idk how to describe this album. Feels like your brain is being carbonated.
"Renaissance by Beyonce." Sorry, such a generic answer I feel but... she did it. She put all her power into a dance album with diverse sound, making it all accessible without being watered down.
"Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" by MCR because duh.
"Commit this to Memory" by Motion City Soundtrack. If you were an emo kid and wanted to kill yourself in the mid 2000s, you know this album. Even if it Kills Me is a close second, btw. Or My Dinosaur Life. I love a lot of MCS tbh. It's emo... pop rock, not surprising for me.
"eMOTIVe" by A Perfect Circle. It's alt rock. It's anti-war and depressing. "Passive" was playing in my head 24/7; I'd mentally turn it into an AMV every single day fo my life for like a year. I wrote a poem about it. "Thirteenth Step" is a very close second.
Technically, it should be "Hold Your Colour" by Pendulum, since it got me into Drum & Bass but I prefer the rockier depths of "Immersion."
"The Happy Star" Lexie Liu. Experimental pop music that reinvents itself each track, sampling from different genres. I just find it really enjoyable and keep returning to it. Might be recency bias.
"333" by Tinashe. An album tht contains the whole human experience--sadness to horniness. Good for her. You can dacne AND cry? Good for you.
"Remember that You Will Die" by Polyphia. Largely instrumental... prog rock meets trap meets electronica?
Choosing a one direction album feels like being threatened at gun point so I won't. Just know they belong here.
"Making Mirrors" by Gotye. People mock him for disappearing after someone that i used to know BUT DID YOU STREAM THE ALBUM?? Jazzy at times, rocky at times, psychedelic at times, BUT DID YOU LSITEN????
The Sims (Original Soundtrack). If you don't get it, I'm not explaining. Kill yourself.
"Perfect Velvet" by Red Velvet. I do think this album is the best kpop has to offer and I'm not fucking joking. I think SM put so much of their pussy in this track, it made their downfall years later inevitable. SM music is so sketchy now because the entir ecompany sold their souls (and pussies, bussies, and extraneous holes) for this album. "I Just" and "Kingdom Come" alone are like... god tier. R&B by a kpop group done CORRECTLY.
"Reborn" by Kavinsky. Feels like alternate timeline Daft Punk, including the The Weeknd knock off track. I couldn't... not love it.
Foster the People's "Supermodel." This alt-rock album got to me when I was profoudnly mentally ill in college and never let me go.
"Season of Poison" by Shiny Toy Guns. I love their first album just as much, tbh, but the anger feels like it's aged better. This album feels like a God's retribution. It feels a religious experience, including all the scary kinds.
"What's Your PLeasure?" by Jessie Ware. Disco-y pop. Sensual. Slick. Longing.
"1 of 1" by Shinee. CHoosing a Shinee album was HARD. Incredible kpop. If you want SIIIINGERS, COME HERE LISTEN OT THEMMM.
and if I didn't want Brendon Urie dead it would be a fever you can't sweat out btu I literally can' tlisten to his voice without my stomache hurting so
I'm probably missing a bunch but these are the first to come ot mind while quickly scrollin thru my phone
feel free to ask me my fave tracks off the album or by these artists

ahh ty for posting so much about zines!! they’re all so cool! I was wondering if you had any more info about the first zine from your post - the mcr made me queer mini zine? I checked out their insta and couldn’t find anything. hope I don’t cross a line, I’d love to be as respectful to the creator, but would it be possible to share some pics of it? (feel free to ignore this ask if you’d like!)
Omg sure! These were little line gifts! Things ppl made to give out while they were queuing, I was lucky to snag an extra copy so idk if they're still being distro'd, but I don't think they would mind you messaging them. It's a mini zine, and it has little art spreads with different lyrics that reference queer themes. A lot of the other zines also reference queerness, especially Romance, and one I haven't posted about yet but reblogged a minute ago called G is For Gender by @lesbiero

Tagged by @kaiasky here to post five songs I actually listen to (which, I agree, is a very funny challenge name). I don't really have anyone I can tag, so I'm happy for (and encourage) anyone to continue the chain :)
MCR - This Is How I Disappear - I love this song; it's dramatic, dark and moody while having extremely addictive instrumentation (I'm still shook every time I hear the tambourine come in). I also find the lyrics really interesting. The whole Black Parade album is about a cancer patient coming to terms with their death and this song particularly focuses on the idea of being forgotten eventually, which is so ouch, but wonderfully cathartic. Alternatively, without that context, it's like the most dramatic breakup song you've ever heard lol.
TK from Ling Tosite Sigure - First Death - So, the best way I can describe this song is it makes me feel a very similar kind of way to 'This Is How I Disappear' haha. Of course, this song is a Chainsaw Man ED and the lyrics are pretty specifically tailored to the preceding events in the anime (which I won't spoil here, but they seem to reflect the inner thinkings of a certain character during a certain event). It's energetic and cathartic, with falsetto tones that remind me of ghosts which is so unique.
Takuto - All Categorise - This is ED for Young Black Jack and previously my alarm for several years. Why? Because I think it's a pretty uplifting and cute song, really gets me energised! The lyrics fit well with Black Jack as a character in the series: he's fairly idealistic, but the world is pretty strongly against him. That said, ultimately, he's pretty dead-set on becoming a doctor to help people. The lyrics of the songs itself, as far as I can tell, seem to be about trying to see the bright side of things and appreciate the beauty in life, even where it's hard to find.
Rie Fu - Life is Like a Boat - AKA my current alarm... I feel like I don't need to elaborate much with Rukia in my pfp here, but I just think this is a beautiful song and so nostalgic for me. It was probably also the first song I heard that combines English and Japanese verses, which I think it super unique. I don't have too much to say about the lyrics, but they certainly tug at the heartstrings... Idk, I just love it, it makes me want to start rhythmically waving my lighter in the air (a terrible idea for someone just waking up lmfao).
Ghost - Square Hammer - My friend really fucking loves Ghost and I absolutely do get it, their songs scratch a specific kind of itch. I kind of feel like this is how people in the 80's must have felt listening to 80's music drop (if that makes any kind of sense :')). Anyway, this is one of their songs that's made its way into my playlists because I just find it so easy to listen to (this is a good thing). I also like how, from an engineering perspective, the lyrics are absolutely asking the correct questions (sorry 😂).

1 (Desert Song), 2, 3, 8, 11, 14, 23, 29 for the fic asks :)
Thank you so much!!! I'll try to make my answers somewhat brief since it's late and I need to get to bed
1. Share a song that makes you think of [Desert Song]
I mean, the title IS a song (a very heartbreaking bonus release by MCR), and I do have a whole list of songs compiled for use in future chapters so I kinda want to save those for when they appear in the fic itself, but there's one song that reminds me of them but doesn't really fit the rest of the punk theme
Pruning Shears by the Amazing Devil
It's a wonderful song and tells the story of a future couple meeting at a party, the interactions between the two of them already remind me a bit of Billy and Quinn's dynamic, but there's one stanza that really strikes me (and would've been the choice lyrics for the fic chapter, if the song fit the theme)
And I'll watch her ruin her life and dye her hair bright colors Become someone's wife Forget the girl that she once was
It just strikes me as very very *Quinn*, and I'd love to include the song if it fit with the tone of the overall fic. I mean, I'm a punk and I love the Amazing Devil, but it's not exactly punk music itself
2. Do you read/reread your own fics?
All the time! I write the stories I want to see, and I love rereading them from time to time
3. What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?
Ugh, that's so tough because they all serve different purposes. Like, Smoke and Mirrors I love for its character development, Bolts and Blasters I love for its slowburn, A Love Once New is my self-indulgent rainy-day fic, Desert Song I love for its complex relationships and intra/interpersonal themes, the list goes on. I love them each in their own way, and I genuinely can't pick a favorite.
8. What project(s) are you currently working on?
Uh.... a lot. But most recently I've been working on new chapters for Taking Flight (still hyperfixated lol) and Heartstrings, with A Love Once New waiting in the wings (pun intended lol)
11. Do you have specific playlists for writing fics?
Not really, I tend to get distracted if I write to music. I do have a playlist for my Sandman character Prometheus here, and my fics kinda end up being playlists themselves since I incorporate so much music into them, but I don't generally create a lot of playlists.
14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?
I'm actually gonna go with Desert Song. I tried/am actively trying to emulate the fast-paced action style of 6 Underground, and given the movie never got a sequel I'd pick this one to fill that void. The same goes for my other 6 Underground fic, Nom de Guerre - Desert Song is the better-written fic by far, but I think Nom De Guerre might have more visual elements that would adapt well to film.
23. How do you choose where to end a chapter (if you have multi-chapter works)?
I tend to lay out a brief outline for my chapters so I know where to go, but I kinda just go off of general feel for the length itself. The only limitations I place on myself are that it must be over 2k words (which is easy to achieve now) and it must end in a good narrative way (since idk when I would next be able to update and I don't want to leave people unsatisfied).
29. Share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic. (If you don’t have either, just share a random fic idea you have that you don’t plan on getting to.)
Sure thing! Here's a snippet from a Wednesday fic that I scrapped after the controversy with Percy Hynes White. I still like the idea (in fact, I'm hybridizing the OC into a future fic with Michael Langdon instead), but I don't want to engage with any of the controversy regardless of its legal outcome.
“Calypso, that’s Greek, right?” Her Mona Lisa smile widened into something genuine, a blend of pure happiness and mild surprise. The distance in her expression vanished almost instantly. She wasn’t great at hiding her emotions. Everything showed on her face, as candidly as if it were written across her forehead. He found it endearing. “Right.” she agreed, “Greek mythology. She was the daughter of Atlas, the titan, and she was imprisoned on a hidden island that adventurers could only find once.” Then, as if it burst out of her in a flash of inspiration, “But I think I’m more like Hephaestus.” “Why’s that?” “He was the outcast of the gods. Cast aside because he was ugly. And he worked the forges.” She stared down at her own hands, and he remembered the illustrated gleam of the knife in his painting. “I work in the forges. Sort of.” Another of his questions answered, then. But that wasn’t what he was focused on. And he had a habit of speaking before his brain caught up. “You think you’re ugly?” Her gray eyes flashed back up to his own, emotion flitting across her face in an uncertain wave. She still couldnt hide it, but that didn’t mean Xavier could read it. He wasn’t sure what to think, other than that she was clearly very, very lonely. And maybe didn’t even realize it. “I think I’m an outcast.” she finally answered, very carefully.  Maybe she did realize it, after all.
thank you so much for asking!! these were fun!!

Finished a drawing that I actually think turned out pretty good, but it's a bit gory.
Debating whether I'm going to post it because it's a self portrait that I drew to vent some feelings, but also it's somewhat inspired by mcr lyrics, and maybe it's something people could relate to.
I'm not uncomfortable with posting it, but I'm a bit hesitant due to the "zombie" level gore. Which like, as long as I tag it as "tw gore" then it should be fine, but I'm still a little iffy on if I added too much blood.
But also like, it's mcr, there's already TONS of artwork featuring blood so it's probably ok. Idk.

@wkilofficial I know *nothing* about the mechanisms or In The Green but I love a good analysis/comparison of music and especially when there’s concept albums involved!! Your tags were very informative but please can you tell us more about the Mechanisms and In the Green Vs MCR and Danger Days
YEAHHHHHHH okay okay okay let's fucking do thisss
the mechanisms feature less in this Analysis post bc they're just. band that makes me go batshit insane. but to explain what they are briefly!! they were a. steampunk cabaret?? that's probably the genre. band that ran for about ten years that made story albums that were like. reduxes of famous mythologies and folk tales, often re-scoring and rewriting prior folk songs to do so. their main four albums are, in turn, a grimm's fairytales sci-fi epic, a sort of jazzy steampunk retelling of the odyssey, a western redux of arthurian legend, and a rock opera style album of norse mythology leading up to ragnarok. and i Love folk songs and modern interpretations and the genders of the band are truly so soothing to experience (loki being a she/her character played by a he/him gnc man being in a lesbian relationship with sigyn, a she/her character played by a they/them fat person of color, is still so important to me). and i can't rlly sum them up in one post?? but i recommend their music to any literature nerds shjshjs
BUT ANYWAY ONTO WHAT I'M HERE FOR
in the green, in a brief summary, is an experimental musical about hildegard von bingen that deals a Lot with trauma and abuse and recovery as it relates to a religious and misogynistic society (12th century catholic europe!). and its cast is five people playing two characters: hildegard's Eye, Hand, and Mouth, representing how trauma at a young age fractured her and made her feel broken and disconnected from herself (her aspects can fight and bicker and have wills of their own and never really sing in harmony), and jutta's Main Persona and her Shadow, the representation of her abuse and trauma that she's kept buried far underground. the music of the show is really stripped back? it's drums, electric bass, cello, dulcimer, and a looper pedal that allows jutta to layer her voice and harmonize with herself in Really Neat Ways. BUT AS IT RELATES TO MCR. it's kind of a couple different ways?
thematically, itg shares a Lot of ideas about perpetuating the cycles of abuse and also does a lot with Catholicism? i made a web-weaving post about this awhile back (linked here) but it's like. jutta gets to be free of the consequences of her abuse of hildegard because she dies. she gets to cling to that virtue while hildegard has to shoulder the burden of her teachings of "repress and work and the trauma will go away". so i think a lot about "from the razor to the rosary" and "i'm taking back the life you stole" and just like. catholicism themes and living your life in spite of what you've faced?? idk it's hildegard experiencing this life changing event at such a young age and then being taught In Isolation that the best way to deal with it is to ignore it because acknowledging it will destroy her. and then discovering that she Can acknowledge it and that's the best way to recover but the woman who taught her the opposite Dies before she can share what she's learned. jutta gets to die before the cycle of abuse she perpetuated can catch her. she dies just when she learns how she could've fixed herself. he (jutta) gets to die a saint but she (hildegard) will always be the whore y'know?
and then the OTHER similarity is just. lyrics? i'm just straight up gonna post itg lyrics that sound like they could be mcr lyrics right here:
plucked from the harvest, before you start to rot / thrust in the darkness, where everything is not / you were not born to live, you were born to be forgive / you were not born to live, you were born to be forgiven - death ceremony
isn't she lucky? she is the lucky one / she will be the seed that grows without the sun / hallelujah and amen, amen / hallelujah for the dead, amen / isn't she lucky? she is the lucky one / she will know of death before her life is done / hallelujah, amen, amen / hallelujah for the dead, amen - death ceremony
i will never go back / there's nothing out there for me / i'm here to find the truth, and the truth will set me free / because if i can teach you how to be whole / i will see the light / that is my goal / when i see the light, i will be free / when i see the light, i will erase my history / for good, and i will be made new / and i will be among the few / and i will be of virtue - the rule
[JUTTA] it isn't easy work. you have to get down in the dirt. [HILDEGARD] i can do that! [JUTTA] can you? [HILDEGARD] i will / i will work until I die, if I have to. [JUTTA] that's the right attitude. - the rule
i feel a bubbling in my blood / and if it boils will i drown in the flood? / i feel an overwhelming need / to put my own flesh between my teeth / i am hungry / on what can i feed? - i am hungry
i'm scared of what i feel / maybe it isn't real, but / i'm scared of who i am / a monster masquerading as a lamb - i am hungry
you have to learn how to hold your breath / you have to learn how to feel some death / this flesh is a thicket / so weed out all that's wicked / the feeling that you feel's an unwelcome guest - eve
keep the beast in a cage / on a leash / keep her locked in the cage / don't let her speak / she will scream in the cage / she will shout / let her die in the cage / don't let her out - eve
[HILDEGARD] but why dig a grave? i'm not dead! [JUTTA] are you sure that you're alive instead? [HILDEGARD] i don't know what you mean. [JUTTA] might you be somewhere in between? / outwardly living, but broken inside? / working and working while trying to hide / the feeling that you've done something wrong? / this is where you belong! / i understand what you're going through / no one out there wanted you. - little life
but when you sacrifice / give up giving in to want / you have nothing to lose if everything's gone / when life is darkness / death is dawn / life is better in death - little life
i’m not going back / i’ll run until i die / and when i can no longer run / i’ll teach myself to fly - in the green (sidenote. favorite lyric in the show, possibly ever)
my heart is a stone / my body is not my own / my heart is a stone / my body is not my own - in the green
you must be / just like me / i do not fit anywhere up there / i carry a memory / it makes me hideous / hazardous, insidious, but / underground i’m at ease - underground
you must be / just like me / tired of holding back all your widening cracks / if you carry a memory / it’s too much to bear / broke you beyond repair, then / underground in the dark / you don’t have to try anymore - underground
underground, you can be / a creature without a name / underground, you can stay with me / with your memory - underground
but you came to the underground / and walked right through your shadows / somehow in the underground / you took something obscure / made uncertainty secure / in the poison found the cure / a spark - light undercover (sidenote sidenote. this is just an ft willz poem line)
where, oh where has my mind gone? / are my feet on the ground or six feet down? / where, oh where has the time gone? / every day is a year / is a night and round and round - the ripening
haven't i done all the things I'm supposed to? / i know what i'm meant to be / and i'm grateful for the blessing / of this body that is rotting / all i've ever wanted is to be free - the ripening
wow that's. a lot of lyrics about guilt and catholicism and category 10 woman moments. ONTO THE DD SIMILARITIES
in the green and danger days are both about. people stuck in a hostile society doing what little they can to assert control over their lives?? in dd, batt city and the desert are literally deadly and the way to rebel against the scorching sun and the enforced Sameness and Separation is to be Bright and Loud and Love As Fiercely As Possible. it's basically a death wish, to refuse to conform in a world that sees vibrancy as a crime, but the killjoys refuse to be a part of that great machine that makes up their world. in the same way, jutta is a character given a horrible hand: arranged marriage (that she runs away from) and an assault that she can tell no one about. so her only way to assert control over her life is to say No to participating in the world at all. she forcibly shuts herself away from Everyone because that was the one thing she could Do Of Her Own Will. she finds power in isolating herself because it was a decision She Could Make. the world was not meant to be kind to her and so she took the only true choice available and refused it entirely. both of these courses of actions are direct contrast to the societies the stories are set in and both of these courses are deadly but also Freeing because They Made Their Choice. no one else made it for them. the killjoys rebel by being as loud as possible, forcing the world to look at them. jutta rebels by removing herself from the world as totally as possible, forcing the world to forget her until she forgot herself. she found freedom in the cell because it was a choice she got to make.
SORRY THAT WAS RLLY LONG BUT WAAAAUGH I LOVE THESE BANDS AND THIS MUSIC

I made a playlist for every month in 2023
I mean you read the title :/
Okay but fr, Last year I decided to to an ongoing art project of sorts where I would pick a song each day to add to a playlist of the month.
Rules for this included no repeat songs in any of the playlist, meaning altogether I have complied 365 unique songs representing my year.
I didn't really have any plans to do anything with it besides just look at in awe and think art how cool ig I am for actually committing to that for a whole year. But, now that I a starting my second year on 'song diaries' as I have dubbed them I thought it would be fun to document all this nonsense somewhere.
Which leads me to this: tbh I have 0 expectations of anyone reading this but me so here! This is my January 2023 playlist:
Now a disclaimer before listening this is 100% my taste in music and is all over the place. I have no defense for the amount of k pop and MCR made it onto these.
Oh before you go I also forgot to mention I also made a playlist that I am adding my top 5 songs from each month to!
For a lot of these playlists, songs were added for very specific reasons so I thought it would be fun to do a kind of 'awards'!
SO for January my top 5 songs are!
Party Poison- My Chemical Romance
Like I said, I don't have a defense. It is what it is. and what it is is that this was was and always will be a bop. This song never fails to get me pumped. Like I don't even have to explain that the vocals on this are fabulous and the instrumental is ON from start to finish. It's MCR they don't miss.
2. Eden- Sub-Radio
Okay, this fucking song had me in a headlock last January. Idk what crack is in it but it will worm its way into your brain until you listen to in on repeat for a few days. The upbeat pop sound and the lead singers voice just reel you in. I stg I listened to this song so much it managed to get a pretty solid rank 35 on my Spotify wrapped.
3. Strange Love- Simple Creatures
Idek what to say about this song. If you don't know who Simple Creatures are you are seriously missing out. Its the stage name for two EPs released by Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 and Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low. And when I say that their discography is NO SKIP. It is very likely that more of their music will make this list, however this song dominated my January.
4. The Haunting (Acoustic)- Set it Off
This track made this list because it is perfect to feel a certain sorta way real fast. Like Idk maybe it's the recovering emo kid in me that knows every word to many of Set it Off's classic songs that just loves this version so much. It doesn't so too much, it is just right imo. If you like being able to scream-sing along to semi cringe emo lyrics with a sick beat or if you've got a bitch ass ex who didn't deserve you this song if for you.
5. Warm Blood- Flor
This was my crying song this time last year. And man, does it still hit. When I was re-listening to this playlist to pick a top 5 I immediately knew this had to be on the list, it just brought back too many memories. Such an emotional track. Beautifully sung vocals and overall great listening experience. Love this group and all their songs but this one in particular is special.
Okay Ig that's enough for now. Idk if I will post my February playlist or song choices or anything...we'll see :)

"Why doesn't anyone believe in loneliness?
Stand up and everyone will see your holiness."
"Born without a friend, and bound to die alone."
-Zero Chance
"Look on the bright side suicide,
Lost eyesight I'm on your side.
Angel left wing; right wing broken wing."
"Lack of iron and/or sleeping."
-Milk It
"Wipe off that makeup, what's in is despair."
"If you look in the mirror and don't like what you see, you can find out first hand what it's like to be me."
"So gather 'round, piggies, and kiss this goodbye."
"I'd encourage your smiles, I'll expect you won't cry."
-The End
Tumblr media
Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, Gerard Way... My top songwriters. Most of their greatest songs are poetic. I love that they all have a different style in their writing as well.
Chris Cornell is a mixed bag. There are lyrics (like the one above) that's more straightforward in its theme, but crafted in such a way that it's so beautiful and thought-provoking. But then you listen to a song like Black Hole Sun and The Day I Tried to Live, and the meanings becomes more ambiguous and up to interpretation.
Most of Kurt's lyrics are entirely ambiguous, and open to interpretation. For example, Milk It can be viewed as a song about battling drug addiction, but someone else could argue that it's about battling mental illness, and then someone else could argue that it's about a toxic/abusive ex. I love it; it's brilliant.
I haven't listened to all of MCR's albums yet, but so far Gerard Way seems to be a lot more straightforward with his writing, which isn't a bad thing if you make them as entertaining as he does. Mixing dark humor with self-deprecation makes for some very memorable lyrics, as you've seen above-and you can tell they're based on his personal experiences and his feelings as well, with a bit of storytelling. I dislike whenever people write a sad song just to write one, if that makes sense..Gerard doesn't do that, as far as I know.
Idk why I wrote this. I guess to appreciate some very good artists, but also to vent a bit since I wanted to post these lyrics anyway because of how relatable they are..
Anyway, this is just my interpretation of each artist. A lot of people say that Kurt just wrote whatever and called it a day, but as you start listening to more of Nirvana's songs from different albums, you'll start to notice what songs Kurt didn't care for and what songs he actually put his heart into. But, again, that's just how I see it so... It's almost 3a.m., I need to try and force myself to sleep...

Welcome back madlads to my journey through the music of mcr members post-breakup pre-reunion. Today we’ll be listening to Stomachaches by frnkiero andthe cellebration. I’m not sure what to expect but I’m in the mood to be suprised, all I know is I hope it rocks my shit.
As I write the last 3 posts in advance at 5 am on a Saturday because my sleep schedule is fucked, I’ve come to realize I don’t have all that much to say. I’m unsure what to expect going into this, but I suppose that’s all part of the journey . Let’s begin this adventure together shall we?
All I Want Is Nothing: ok so far it sounds good, and I’m just now realizing I’ve never really gotten a good listen to Frank’s voice (I haven’t watched any interviews besides solo ones from Gerard 😬). Ok this sounds kickass ngl. I like this it bangs. So I’m liking where this is going, the sound is good and I’m thinking maybe this might be a bit more my speed than hesitant alien was even tho it did grow on me.
Weighted: Song 2 let’s go, ok very moody. Ok this rocks, I dig this vibe. Shit I need lyrics these are audio only and I have processing issues. Ok I like this it’s nice, it’s not quite blasting my tits off but I feel it in my bones this album has the potential to.
Blood Infections: ok this bangs, I’m really digging his moody vibe. Oh shit yea no this fucks. I dig this, his voice kinda hot ngl 👀. So this one did tickle my brain good but still not punching me in the face.
She's the Prettiest Girl at the Party, and She Can Prove It with a Solid Right Hook: oooo tasty guitar opening. Aw this is pretty. This is really sweet, I like this. Just a really cute vibe, fuck yea man. I love songs dripping with just this tenderness.
Stitches: ok sick beat, this has a vibe I feel like I’ve felt before but I can’t put my finger on where. It’s vibes, it’s a banger. It kinda fucks, it’s a headbanger for sure.
Joyriding: ok I like the rhythm (I’m only doing audio but I’ll probably go back and and watch the music videos) oh shit this is what I was waiting on! This one blasts my tits clean off! Fuck yea!! Yea this one fucking slaps!
Stage 4 Fear of Trying: oooo guitar beloved. Oh damn the vocals are a bit cleaner and he sounds nice damn. This is a feelings song isn’t it, shit. This is gonna be one that makes my emotional wounds sting. The music is fucking gorgeous tho, and he sounds great.
Tragician: oh fuck hell yea! This bangs out the gate, also for like half a second the guitar sounded like the opening to I’m not okay. Yea this is sick, you can really rock to most of these but especially this one.
Neverenders: ok this is looking like bangers all the way down. This slaps, but again joyriding was the only one to get close to the music feeling like it decked me in the face. It’s great but not quite obliterating me y’know.
Smoke Rings: oh opening was fresh, that’s nice. Ok it does bang, but I’m bad at descriptions but it does bang different from the last 2. It’s sick af tho.
Guilttripping: ok this is nice. A bit of a slower tempo. I don’t have a whole lot of thoughts on it. It’s a nice song, I’m neutral on it.
Where Do We Belong? Anywhere But Here: oh I heard that note. Does guilttripping lead straight into this song? Raking strings and grainy audio, sick. There it is! There’s the punch in the fucking face! Goddamn!
So the album was, good. I liked most of the songs but for most I don’t feel particularly strongly about them. I think in my own opinion it did kinda get a little stale towards the end before the last song went hard. It’s a good vibe and I do really like his voice but idk. My top 5 of the album would have to be…
1: Joyriding
2: Where Do We Belong? Anywhere But Here
3: Tragician
4: Stitches
5: Weighted
Well first album down and I’m excited for more, I wanna see if he’s got a song that’s really gonna blow me away. I’m honestly starting to understand the picture a bit more, what makes mcr so appealing to me is it’s some of the best of all of the members at the same time. One of my favorite songs of Gerard’s solo career was the hazy shade of winter cover with Ray. I’m honestly a bit worried to really wow me it’s gotta be all 4 of them. The next post will be the keep the coffins coming ep and parachutes album, see you next time madlads.

also while im here i think your queen/mcr comparison post makes sense
tbh i really like the start of wttbp and don't love the way it feels like it cuts to a totally different song so i enjoy the first bit and skip or just think of the second part as a different song
like don't get me wrong i usually love when a song goes from something sweeter and balladic to something heavier/faster/rockier but idk i want a motif or a return to balladic or even just a lyrical similarity, something that gives continuity to the song
whereas borhap moves through several different styles while maintaining cohesion and giving you enough of each piece of the song before moving to the next, and establishing the style changes before a hard jumpcut happens
but i also feel like there's an attitude in the mcr fandom that is So So Elitist that you aren't a true fan if your fav song isn't from bullets or isn't some xyz niche shit
and i think some of the pushback on wttbp also comes from those fans being mad that it's many peoples' first mcr song and it's well enjoyed by even surface level fans who just have mcr on some playlists and not much else
but also wttbp very much feels like a fun approachable radio single but that has a little anormativity tacked onto it that makes it unique but not interesting enough to really stand out against the rest of the album as the best song
where borhap was absolutely unapproachable by radio standards but it really was a masterpiece with so many moving parts
also i promise i don't hate wttbp as a song even if it sounds like im bad mouthing it but i definitely get your point
I really appreciate hearing someone else’s thoughts on this! that post was moreso about comparing each band’s fanbase and their attitudes toward more experimental songs rather than comparing the songs themselves, but I hear you on your own opinions of the songs. personally I don’t find the shift from the intro of wttbp to the rest of the song too jarring (especially not more jarring than borhap’s shift into the operatic section), and I consider the drumming in the outro to be a return of the marching band motif. I do like how you see the two parts of wttbp as two different songs tho, bc it reminds me of how borhap actually started out as several different songs until freddie combined them to make the one :)
but yeah definitely it is an unpopular opinion within the mcr fandom to have tbp as your favorite album and ESPECIALLY to have wttbp as your favorite song. and I mean it’s pretty common within any fanbase to look down on having the most widely popular song/album as your favorite, but I think with mcr especially this is the case bc so many of the fans come from that emo/punk adjacent background and see the theatrical/glam rock influences as an afterthought. (really I think so much would be different if queen was listed as one of their influences in lotms. but that’s a conversation for another day).
I wrestled with the idea of wttbp being a “fun approachable radio single” for a minute I guess bc I see it as so intrinsically linked to borhap (which was highly unlikely to be a radio success) and bc of the way gerard described playing it to an audience for the first time and being unsure if they would “get it.” but I think that idea is a great example of queen’s influence on mcr and their influence on the music industry in general. I don’t think a song like wttbp could be considered a fun approachable radio single if borhap hadn’t paved the way for it several decades earlier.
