i always feel bad when i see how the point of a lot of saiki's personality traits flew right over the heads of a lot of fans due to him being an unreliable narrator and a tsundere lol.. so a lot of things he says are immediately proved to be untrue and often just him putting up a front, but some people dont pick up on it..

like i see a lot of "haha saiki would never want to watch a romance movie" guys there is an entire chapter (170) dedicated to him being like "i much prefer mysteries to romance stories.." and then immediately becoming absolutely enamored with a romance story.. he was lying, guys, LMAO

less specific ones include:

"i hate children, they annoy me" *goes out of his way to help kids, comfort them, be kind to them, etc.*

"i only use my powers for self gain/my own convenience." "anyway my mama told me to never use my powers selfishly so i always use them to help people and i try my best not to use them for personal gain<3"

"those guys are so annoying, i would never hang out with them willingly." "yeah it took them about two sentences to convince me to go with them. their thoughts seemed like they really wanted me to go, so i did. i didnt want them to be upset. not that i care about them or anything."

(sorry i post about this kind of thing a lot, i just giggle a lot at how the entire manga is so easily misinterpreted and thousands of people have watched the show but didnt pick up on the main characters most defining character traits and frequent bits.. i think there needs to be a masterlist or something disproving all the extremely common misconceptions about saiki k lol)

It's one thing to see people joke about sqq and lbh being unable to communicate but it's on a league of its own when you have to read HUNDREDS OF PAGES of sqq's inner monologue be like 'that's my darling boy. my baby. my sugar plum pumpy umpkin you're my sweetie pie' but on the outside he says "get lost binghe" and somehow deems that an effective expression of his affection that lbh will surely understand. 'Why is lbh whining and crying and tugging at my sleeve like a plaintive wife, why is he so angry?' Sqq asks, the entire circus, as lbh is about to fling himself off a cliff for attention--

In short, MXTX is the queer comedian of our generation and nobody appreciates her enough

no because tell me why when I was 13 i read about my favourite character who didn't trust authority figures innately like the other kids,

tell me why I read about him being bullied by the whole cast and the authors and be prayed upon by even more adults, the reason he didn't implicitly trust authority in the first place. tell me why I read about him being put in a fucking straight jacket and just left there in solitary confinement, played straight by the whole cast and authors. Tell me why I had to read about him truly get put through the worst shit the writers could think of, in a mean way! an uncharitable one. Tell me why I read about him trying to commit suicide and the book pointed at it being like look at that guy! he's so pathetic! Tell me why I saw him get disfigured as a punishment and called ugly fat and spit on by the whole cast and book. Tell me why the "different people" get sent to fucking refugee camps in Alaska and its played straight. Tell me why the only child who exhibited critical thinking about his surroundings got thrown to the dirt again and again and again, for the audience to laugh at him.
