The LimLife Dick Timer AU
CONTEXT:
Tumblr media
The Horrible Aftermath:
"Yeah right!" Bdubs laughs, "You'd need a massive dick to fit all those numbers on there--"
Tango snorts.
"Impulse, take off your pants!"
Several heads swivel to face him, their expressions in various states of shock and disbelief. Impulse turns a bright red, "What?"
His words catch up to him-- Why the fuck did he say that?
"I just-- They were talking about--" Tango sucks in a breath, "I was kidding!"
Scar's muffling a laugh into Cleo's shoulder. Jimmy's biting his hand.
"I was kidding, guys, I'm-- It was a joke!"
"Sure, Tango." Scott snickers, "At least we know where your mind went, wow."
Impulse shuffles in place, biting his lip. "Alright, can we stop talking about my--"
"I almost wanna see if it's true now," Martyn comments, tilting his head. "I never did get a chance to see it."
Bdubs' lips twitch. Impulse spots it first, his eyes going wide.
"Bdubs," He warns. "Don't you dare--!"
Bdubs cackles, "I will neither confirm nor deny!"
Impulse sighs, relaxing.
A wide grin splits across Bdubs face, "But I definitely think the dick timer is possible."
The crowd devolves into chaos.
Impulse covers his face with his hands, "I hate it here," He says, though nobody listens. "I really hate it here."
---
EXTRA: (You can fill in the blanks yourself.)
("What were you expecting?" Impulse asks, strangled. "My dick isn't gonna give you extra time."
Skizz shrugs, licking his lips. "I mean, it was worth a shot. Can you blame me for trying?")

Personally I think they're both huffing a bit of copium about one another (Vox and Alastor) but Alastor is better at hiding it/maintaing his cool. We know that at least Valentino feels confident enough to goad Vox into taking the bait, that Alastor "almost" beat him last time. It's an interesting attitude compared to Vox's. Even Velvette doesn't seem all that concerned with Alastor, both her and Valentino are confident in the Vees current status and it's only Vox's personal insecurities that prevent him from sharing that mindset.
Vox's medium IS the victor in the grand scheme of things, he (along with the other Vees) ARE more relevant than Alastor/radio. And Vox is also capable of upgrading/improving himself over time in a way Alastor (from what we've seen) is not. It's so interesting seeing Vox unable to fully realize his strength/power - he can say it all he wants, but I don't think he really believes it. We the audience, however, know that visual media is king... case in point we are watching this series as a show on screens. Vox's hypnotism and electric powers are also pretty OP, he's got a good deck of cards (even though we haven't seen the full extent of how he can really leverage these yet).
And let's not forget Alasor BOOKED IT across town to get back at Vox during Stayed Gone. I think Alasor is (and should be) somewhat nervous (maybe "cautiously aware" is a better term) about the influence Vox and the Vees have regarding the future of media. He doesn't crack easily, as we've seen, but he cares enough to engage with Vox which he doesn't bother doing with outright "lessers".
In this way the dynamic is more even (in my opinion) than many give it credit for, which I personally prefer, but to each their own... for me, if it's not more equally matched, I struggle to see how the Vees will be worthwhile antagonists in the next season and that would be such a shame for characters that have so much potential. I just love the Vees!
(prev ask)
ehh I mean I do feel that they are on more equal level than some of the fandom may make them out to be but I still don't feel like they're exactly on the same level. like every time I see takes about mutual stuff between them I still can't fully agree cause to me, it's still on some level imbalanced. I do think they are of roughly equal power yes, but I think alastor being able to keep his cool is in fact a point towards him having the upperhand. it's the fact that vox is literally incapable of keeping his cool when it comes to alastor that spells more of his weakness when it comes to him I think. but yeah I mean how the vees, or rather vox will be a proper antagonist when he's so easily defeated by alastor is what I've been asking for a while LMAO.
and the thing is, we've seen instances like alastor being somewhat scared when zestial pops up, his mask slipping when starting stupid beef with lucifer (his eye is literally twitching the moment lucifer steps into the hotel LMAO), and of course with his fight with adam. we don't see any of that when it comes to the vees/vox, alastor waves them off as "nobody important" when niffty asks, easily tramples vox in stayed gone (and yes, he did immediately go back to his radio tower to bite back, but I don't think that's necessarily out of fear, could've easily just been he saw he was being insulted on live tv and HAD to bite back because he's a petty bitch), and gloated to him about having to "try harder than that" after failing to spy on him.
in my view, he doesn't see the vees or vox as a serious threat. HOWEVER, I do think that could easily be a point against alastor. his cockiness and not taking them seriously could very well come bite him in the back (JUUUUST like with adam!)
but when it comes to his current season 1 dynamic with vox, I do think he has the upperhand because of their different attitudes. if vox was able to keep his cool like alastor he wouldn't have caused a city-wide blackout over stayed gone LMAO. they're definitely more leveled power-wise though I think, the difference comes in their attitudes. if vox won the idgaf war a bit more they'd be more leveled, but he has chosen to obsess over him 24/7 so here we are.

0610 is so funny because mahiru is determined to be a housewife/maternal figure and kotoko is determined to parallel all the other prisoners' shitty fathers. both of them having the traits of "parental figures" that is a mold/box to be shoved into in and of itself which shows the traditional/black and white aspects of their own families. mahiru is determined to be full of love and give others that same love and kotoko pretends she doesn't love at all and bares her teeth whenever you show her love. mahiru has sun symbolism and kotoko has moon symbolism.
and then instead of ever acknowledging the absolutely insane character foil toxic yuri between those two at all, milgram refuses to let them interact ever again except for one interaction from four years ago at the very beginning and kotoko beating the shit out of mahiru. like. thanks milgram. if YOU wont do anything with your very interesting character foils that can also fall into classic "romance tropes" (which mahiru is obsessed with, cough) with their personalities/stories i guess ill do it myself.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about MatPat.
On the one hand, he definitely has a streak of bigotry. The pyro episode really comes to mind on that one, and his refusal to they/them Kris was also not cool, and there have been a lot of other examples here and there.
But he has been getting better. One of his Livestream hosts uses they/them from what I can tell, and I haven't heard any word that he's misgendered them anywhere.
But also, his theories have just been getting lower and lower quality as his channels kinda turned into something one step below a content farm. His Digital Circus theory, for example, he came up with ON GTLive and then just cleaned it up for the episode.
But he was also hosting all four channels. Each channel will have its own host now.
He made a lot of mistakes, but so does everyone.
Am I defending him? I dont know. Do I forgive him? No. Do I honestly care? ...I don't know.
I'm glad he's stepping away. But I'm also gonna miss him.
Like he said in the goodbye video, he was a lot of peoples childhoods. Mine was one of them. He's definitely not the best person nor was he the best influence, but he did help me realize that being a nerd and being passionate are good things. And his passion helped me want to create.
I'm glad he's leaving, but it also feels like my childhood is going with him. One last step towards that all-encompassing 21 in a few months from now.
I'll miss you, Mat. I hope you can continue to grow as a person and support others more in the future. Teach your son what the world failed to teach you when you were younger.
Also read the tags, please, okay Tumblr? Thanks.

my biggest accomplishment of 2024 is finally running that bitch (aka my groomer, aka abuser) out of the chip fandom. she shouldve left in 2020 when everyone first told her to, but NOPE, she was FOOLISH and ended up digging her grave deeper!!!!! i guess my panic attacks + flashbacks were all worth it if it'd lead to that bitch getting karma served to her. she has a lot to answer for in terms of my mental health lol

this one guy gets banned from the state of georgia ‘cause of the damage he caused during a supervillain fight in atlanta? then he like has a whole quest to discover his past or whatever (he was apparently injected w the dna of like, half the dc roster?) and yk where he winds up?? chasing a supervillain back into georgia. and the police show up ready to arrest him! made me laugh SO hard

i swear ive talked about th fact kotoko yuzuriha would love scourge warrior cats if she ever read warrior cats but tumblr wont let me find that. so. heres this stuff from the rise of scourge
unhealthy obsession with not being seen as "weak" and using violence as a means to cope with it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"trust"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
not being able to "forget", therefore never being able to be "content"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i thnk this enough to get a jist of why i thnk kotoko would go absolutely insane for scourge if she was a warrior cats kid. "weak" cat who, as a kid, got looked down on by the "strong"? "weak" cat who had their dreams stolen was traumatised and therefore never able to forget until it led them down a path of unsatiable violence? "weak" cat who became the "strong" and takes care of the "weak" in doubtful ways? "weak" cat who's eventually able to get vengeance on the other cat who hurt them?
scourge warrior cats died 2004 kotoko yuzuriha born 2024 welcome back scourge. funny little one off panels from the rise of scourge tht reminded me of kotoko below the cut
-
this panel tht i just think is funny. moon mention!!

"if its for the world, how i feel isnt relevant"

Spent the past week nodding stardew <3 every single day there is a new update to one mod or twenty (I have. 500+. Normal amount.) so I. Have to redo. The configs. Whoo. But! I have. I think. Sorted out the portrait situation so now I can actually see them ♡ I'm sure the vanilla artstyle is lovely to those that can see it butttttttt well pixels give me migraines. And I can only stand 20000% saturation for so long. Very sorry. ♡ anyway. It looks Mostly pretty but I have some Problem Tiles and I'm gonna.... sigh.... have to go looking thru random ass tilesheets to find out why certain squares are still vanillabright. Boo. Oh well.
Maybe post a screenshot tomorrow and shout into the void for aid..... maybe...

Was your Safe Spaces post discord-(or any closed forum I guess) specific, or do you think the same should go for fandom-themed blogs on tumblr? Like, if I follow someone for Doctor Who content, I'd rather they didn't put real world issues on my dash, but otoh, it's their blog and they get to decide what they post on it (preferably tagged so I can curate). I've observed that people that run themed blogs that become popular often seem to feel an obligation to use their platform for activism (or, in the case of crypto-radfems, deliberately built their platform to recruit), and it stresses tf out of me for the reasons you mentioned, but it's not like the maintags are much safer because there will be spam relating to real-world issues, or antis trying to relate fiction to real world issues.
Realistically; the same outlook can and could be applied to any social setting. Be it online, private, public, face to face, ect.
Your point about obligation in terms of platform scale is something I've also noticed and have been dabbling about raising. Mostly because you see it a lot with celebrities or public content creators who receive a large following. Its often less that they feel obligated and more than they're usually bullied into it.
For example; I follow a trans (FTM) vlogger on Instagram. His entire online presence is based around being trans and helping to educate people and support people in regards to learning about being transgender, transgender health, his personal transitional journey, ect.
He's got a modest following, nothing ridiculous but I think right now he's sitting at around 75,000 followers.
And as of late, there are random people who don't follow him and aren't at all interested in what he has to say flooding his comment section with things like:
Why didn't you mention anything about Gaza?
All these followers and no shout outs for smaller creators?
What are you doing to raise awareness for X?
All these views could've been used to raise awareness for X.
And its fucking ridiculous. People are pressuring a middle class trans man with 75,000 followers to accept responsibility for counter-responding to a literal war when there are actual celebrities and billionaires with both the actual reach and money to make a difference who simply refuse to because they won't personally benefit from it.
I used to run a really popular fandom blog here on Tumblr. For an actual fandom, not just what I do here and now. It started off small, but I eventually grew it to the point where my follow count was creeping toward 10,000. Which for Tumblr and for a fandom-specific blog was not at all insignificant.
And the moment my notes count started going up, the demands started flooding in. People expecting me to reblog their donation links, demanding I share their friend's aid post, asking why I wasn't reblogging awareness posts or donation drives, ect.
Its largely because its easier to harass accessible people over it than it is to harass someone like Kim Kardashian, but its also because again: we have such a skewed understanding of what is actually effective in terms of activism and circulation of information.
Most of it comes down to shaming people and trying to assert that they're a bad person for having the privilege and benefits of a large following but not doing anything for other people or to 'deserve' that following. They're 'a bad person' for having 75,000 people's attention and not using it to force them to be aware of X.
A good example of proper audience targeting and activism is the page We Rate Dogs.
We Rate Dogs will share awareness posts and donation drives.
About dogs.
Because their followers are there for the dogs. Their followers like dogs. They want to enjoy dog content and help dogs.
If they started sharing posts about war and death and rape, the people who are following them to see cute dog videos will simply unfollow them.
They're using their targeted platform properly.
