#i hate most of the mando legends stuff

Note
Hi, Kat! I saw your post earlier about the New Mandalorians, and wondered if you have the time or energy to expand on that at all? If not, or you don't feel like it, feel free to ignore this. I've been interested in writing a fic where Mandalorians play a major role, but have been avoiding it given how much contention there is around so much of it, and just how challenging it is to keep straight what's Disney canon, Legends, and fanon. I'm also mostly not a comics reader, so I know I'm missing a big chunk of info there. So any chance you could point me to where to look for some of this information? Like, Death Watch being deported to an "overcrowded and undersupplied" moon. Is that extrapolation from what we see of Concordia in TCW, or are there additional sources that get into more detail? I'm also curious where we see Death Watch/warrior Mandalorians being POC? Jango is, of course, but I've heard other people claim that, other than Jango and the KOTOR materials set several thousand years in the past, we don't really see onscreen Mando POC until Rebels, after TCW creators got backlash for making all the New Mandalorians and Death Watch white Vikings. Are there other sources that show the exiled warrior Mandos being POC? Any help you can give me figuring this out would be greatly appreciated! I know fanworks can go in whatever directions their creators want to, but I want to at least make sure I'm working from a clear understanding of what I'm starting from! Thanks you.
It's very definitely an extrapolation, but based on what we see pretty much solely in TCW, specifically "The Mandalore Plot" episodes.
First, if you look at shots of Sundari, the Mandalorian capital, everyone is white and blond and Human. Maybe it was the animators being lazy, maybe it was a conscious choice, but it's still jarring, especially in contrast to most background shots elsewhere in the galaxy. Take a screencap of anywhere else and it's pretty mixed as far as Humans and aliens go. Not in Sundari.
Second, re: Death Watch being deported. I'm not talking about Death Watch. I'm talking about the warriors, who Satine specifically says were "exiled" to Concordia. And she and Obi-Wan have a conversation about how, even though Concordia was once an agricultural settlement, it was strip-mined to the point that forests were just starting to grow back. Extrapolating, that means Concordia probably has to import everything. I can't remember if it's Satine specifically who says it, or one of the other NMs, but they also say they presume all the warriors have all died out. And like. yikes. There's a pretty big implication there.
As for the warrior Mandalorians being POC, at the very least there are more POC characters among them than among the NMs. Clan Wren, I'm thinking of, and then. Jango and his disavowal by the NMs is a whole other can of worms that has a lot of racist overtones, imo. This post has a good breakdown of the issues regarding the Fetts, if you'd like to read it. It dips into Legends, but it's mostly based on TCW and the movies in those sections, so. There are your sources.
Edit: To clarify on why I find the "we presume the warriors all died out" so yikes. It's been about 20 years since Satine took power at most. A lot of the people exiled were probably young, to say nothing of how long people live in the gffa. How exactly are that many people supposed to have died in 20 years max without some outside factor? Add that to the fact that Concordia is mostly barren and like. Hella yikes, imo.

MANDALORE
Traditional Mandos (True and Death Watch)
Timeline/Explanation of the True Mandalorians
True Mando Discourse/True Mandos did shoot first (etc.) - Jango gave the order to do so - The American Militia comparison
Are the True Mandalorians canon again since Jaster was name-dropped in The Mandalorian? (Short answer: no.)
Traditional Mandalore and the American Far Right - Why gun control? - The Doylist racism - More about the racism
The whitewashing that affected the clones and all of New Mandalore was also applied to the True Mandalorians, and to judge New Mandalore for their wholly white presentation without judging the True Mandalorians is a problem (with screenshots)
Traditional Mandalorians through the lens of the devsirme
Jango did a genocide (and the only way to make him unaware is to strip him of the Legends backstory that has him as former Mand’alor)
Quick checklist of diversity of True Mandos (as shown in Open Seasons) vs New Mandos (as shown in TCW)
The canonicity of anti-slavery trad mandos is... questionable
New Mandos
Satine’s handling of Mando’a (Death Watch Propaganda)
Maybe Satine had a Point
Padme and Satine - Just Satine
Satine is the equivalent of a 70s anti-Vietnam-War protestor (
This war could have been an email
Satine’s policies (and attitude towards child-rearing) as influenced by her traumas
What did Satine even do in canon that could be considered cultural genocide as claimed by fanon? - This one has more iterations - Mandalore’s Bernie Sanders (edit by @personontheswing) - Why Mandalore fell
“Obi-Wan is better at Mandalorian stuff than Satine” mmmm no
Satine is the sitcom mom of Mandalorian politics - Follow-up
Why “Satine should have been a villain” really gets my goat. (stats) - Other version
Hot Take: Satine Kryze should have been a woman of color - All of New Mandalore should have been more diverse
The Britain comparison
TFW Satine and Obi-Wan’s approach to parting at the end of their year together is reversed solely to make Satine seem less suited to Obi-Wan
The MandalMotors accusation
ANIDALA and TUSKENS MASSACRE
The acceptable amount of baby murder is None
Padme’s not actually the most rational person here
And yeah she’s kinda racist
And that racism parallels history
Who was she supposed to tell? (Obi-Wan. She was supposed to tell Obi-Wan) - The absolute coldest take
“The Jedi wouldn’t understand.”
Anakin’s Slippery Slope to Baby Murder (Take One) Alt title for this post is: Anakin grabbed a sled to the slippery slope
Torture had something to do with it
Padme is a train wreck and that’s what makes her fun, fight me
“Padme deserves better” is wrong because as far as Padme is concerned, ‘better’ does not exist. Anakin got full marks, it’s just that Padme’s rubric is different from basically anyone else’s. “Better” is just an Anakin who didn’t help overthrow democracy.
A rant on my hate for “Anakin mindcontrolled Padme into loving him”
A touch on Padme Characterization
Writing Nuance
All said, Anakin/Consequences is actually a red flag - And I hate It
JEDI
What are the Jedi bringing balance to
Not enough Jedi for the whole galaxy - And held up to unrealistic standards - Prioritizing Shmi could have been justified without favoritism (but doesn’t really matter)
Why did Qui-Gon bring Anakin to Naboo?
The Jedi lost their way
Jedi crit cannot exist in a vacuum
How are you defining this word that is central to the argument?
Ruusan Reformation
The question of finance
Jedi don’t do excommunication in any but the absolute most extreme cases (and if someone is going full Sith Lord, like Tyranus or Vader, they’ve usually already left voluntarily)
Hot take: Qui-Gon’s survival would have contributed to keeping Anakin stable and not prone to attachment.
Other
Flavors of Discourse
I think the GAR being only three million clones actually does make sense, even for space.
Boba’s (almost) war crime
What even is a war crime - We don’t care
Filoni only knows how to tell one kind of story
Why do people write Rex not liking Anakin as a person?
Cliegg/Shmi can be viewed as a frontier marriage
The best flavor of “Anakin gets left on Tatooine”
Devaronian girls deserve horns too
Cloneshipping - Yes, that size kink can be racist
In Defense of Clonecest

Your aus are top tier 👌 hi im a bit shy but I'll hassle you about mandos!!! Where are you getting your information from? I haven't been in this fandom long,,,, any other sources you recommend?
as much as a Effing Hate the Art, you *gotta* read Jango Fett: Open Seasons. Like half of the lore has been retconned out at this point but it is basically that from which most other mando lore spawns LOL.
the Republic Commando Novels by Karen Traviss are the other big source of mando lore, but uhhhh I haven't personally read them LOL mostly i've learned through Fic Osmosis. I've been told from some reliable sources that the RC novels are like. kind of bad, so I can't fully endorse them, but it is where most stuff is established (mando'a, the verd'goten, various cultural practices, etc)
wookiepedia is sort of a hellscape but it will at least get you the Gist of some of the old lore and such if you don't want to slog through the RC novels kdjaflskd. Just keep in mind what has and has not been labelled as "legends" content, as that stuff is not technically canon anymore.
OH AND I ALMOST FORGOT MY MOST FAVORITE RESOURCE OF ALL TIME, mandoa.org lmao great mando dictionary, even if it doesn't really help with grammar so much. also you can transcribe stuff into the mandalorian writing system which is fun (this just says "neat dude!" lol)
Tumblr media
I'm willing to try and answer questions if you have them! To be completely honest, I've also only been into star wars for like a year LMAO and just kind of fell in a mando hole....

hey jo! just curious cause im sick rn and i need some kind of .. tender entertainment HH and i thing ur Love (capitalized) for star wars is super endearing and and 🥺 i want a bit of that - so what is it about it? i mean.. the only lore i know is from the movies and the mando series, which isn't much with how big it seems to be judging by fan content. so idk but pls Do go off and talk about it just pitch sell it to me let me in let me iiiinnn
hey laura !!! i hope you feel better soon & thank you so much !!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ i will happily do my best to fill you in 💞 this is probably going to get very very long btw
ok, so the basic premise of the original trilogy (episode vi: a new hope, episode v: the empire strikes back, episode vi: return of the jedi) is the galaxy is under the rule of the evil galactic empire and its only opposition is a group of freedom fighters called the rebel alliance. a farm boy, luke skywalker, who is revealed to be a jedi, a person capable of using the force and wielding a lightsaber, becomes a jedi knight in his quest to aid the rebellion in defeating the empire once in for all. as the series progresses it's revealed that luke's father is actually the emperor's apprentice, formerly known as anakin skywalker, a fallen jedi and sith. by the end of the trilogy, luke is a fully fledged jedi knight and fights his father, and darth vader redeems himself by killing the emperor after watching the emperor try to kill his son. luke tries to save him but darth vader dies of his wounds. there's a whole bunch of other things that happen & way more characters but those are the very bare bones of the ot.
the prequel trilogy started in the 90's and ended in the 00s (episode i: the phantom menace, episode ii: attack of the clones, episode iii: revenge of the sith) and centers around luke's father, anakin, and how he went from being a jedi knight to a sith lord. it expands the universe further and also shows what the galaxy was like prior to the events of ANH. again, there's a lot more to it than that, which includes the jedi at their height, anakin's secret wife padme amidala, and way way more, but those are the bare bones.
there is a ton of media outside the main 6 films. (i'm not counting the sequel trilogy, episodes vii-ix. i don't like what they did, they sucked, and i haven't see ep ix and i will probably never. they had potential and they ruined it. so i will not be acknowledging or talking about those aside from the fact that finn deserved his own trilogy and jedi journey <3) there are shows, cartoons, novels, comics, video games. not to mention the masses of fanmade content. ever since disney acquired the rights to star wars, most of that media was relegated to "legends" (most of which is referred to as the EU, or extended universe), which means that they're still acknowledged as star wars stories but considered "old canon.
i know that's a ton of media and that's a lot of content and lore to sift through and it might seem overwhelming but like... i think that's one of the appeals for me, personally. there's so much content, so much to explore, so much more than just space wizards and stuff. there's so many stories, so many people, so many different worlds to read about and explore that like... the possibilities are essentially limitless. there's no "one area" that everyone sticks to in star wars lore, aside from general knowledge of the main movies (episodes i-ix). some people like the old republic era, which takes place thousands of years before the events of the ot. some people really love the prequels, which take place 20-30 yeras prior to the events of the ot. there are people who really like the civil war era, and people who like after. and there are people who love all of them or none of them or only stick to niche things like a certain planet or group etc etc. there's so much to choose from to love or hate or interact with. especially because there's so many aspects to every piece of media that can be talked about and explored. there's always something else to find. there's humans, jedi, sith, aliens, droids, planets, politics, plots, spaceships, bounty hunters... sky's the limit.
i think a big part of it for me is that i grew up with it. i understand there are people who get into it when they're kids or adults and they're not into it, and i'm not going to pretend that it's the end-all be-all for space fantasy media. but growing up, it was so fun. it was so full of imagination and possibility and it never got old for me. i loved the prequels dearly. because i grew up with it im familiar with the material and ive always known people who like similar things about it and view it the same way so even as ive gotten older i never really *grew out of it*. i thought i did, i thought i loss interest, but i came back once the mandalorian began to air and have been active ever since.
the thing that's kept me active, that's gotten me involved, that i still have love for and enjoy, is the people interact with because of it.  i met my best friend euie @ligaw because of it. i've made friends & mutuals as an adult because of it (not limited to but including @rogueninja @kasseivor @sarma @coredrive). i'm mutuals with people who also enjoy it and talk about it with me (including but not limited to stina-adrien @gayluke and y @goldennavenue.) and i'm mutuals with people who've made original characters from it, like nina @dilfbailorgana and h @edeemir, who have in turn inspired me to create characters & have caused me to begin creating original characters again as well. my friends and i create from it, complain about it, trash it, and love it. it makes it worth it, i think. my favorite part of tumblr + one of my longtime favorite pieces of media = a whole mess but there's a lot to love and laugh at.
that being said... not only is there a mass of content to get into, there are many issues within both the media itself as well as those who participate in it, both the fans and the creators that predate the disney-ifcation of the franchise. i know *every* media and fandom has its issues, from bad to worse, but it would be remiss, to say the least, if i didn't mention it beforehand. there are both past and ongoing issues of racism, whitewashing, islamophobia, antisemitism, etc. it's present in the media and also present in the fandom, which is something i think anyone who's thinking about getting into star wars should know about.
so like... there it is. it's not perfect by any means, there are many issues both in fandom and in the media, but i still think there's so much to love, it CAN improve and it SHOULD improve and i love it enough to want to see that happen, + the fact that i get to share the good and the bad with cool people makes still caring about star wars worth it ❤️

Fic writer interview
Thanks for the tag Maddie! <3
How many works do you have on AO3?
44!
What’s your total AO3 word count?
284,656 (at least 400K including ffnet I think)
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Oh boy. I’m including stuff from middle school to now so lots of old cringe fandoms that I will never revisit out of sheer horror please don’t judge akhfkajsh: Code Geass, Detective Conan/Magic Kaito, Durarara, Gravity Falls, Hetalia, Legends of Tomorrow/Constantine, The Mandalorian, Mystic Messenger, Naruto, Soul Eater, The Clone Wars, Total Drama, Transformers, Yuri on Ice. Sheesh...
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Breath of Moonlight (Naruto)
Debt (Mando)
Ascent (Mando)
Meaning (Mando)
Hopeful Mistletoes (DCMK)
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Not typically unless it’s a question that needs clarification or a request for permission to translate. Or if they write me an entire essay and I *must* respond with crying rambles of my own. Mostly because I have so little spoons. I feel pressured that if I respond to one, I’ll have to respond to all and then if I can’t deliver, I’m a horrible person. I just want everyone to know I reread comments constantly and hold each and every one of them close with heart eyes and they keep me motivated to write more.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I guess the new one with Thorn and Fox  is pretty brutal, especially because I baited people into thinking it was a fix-it :^)  There’s one I have in the making that is even worse than this one :)))
But a lot of my older fics are very angst in nature so it’s hard to pick out the one that hurt the most. And that’s mostly because a lot of them got put on hiatus on the really hurty chapters.
Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I have written crossovers! But a lot of them are like technically in the same universe (ex. DC and MK, or LOT and Batman). The dumbest one was in middle school when I thought a DCMK/Hetalia one would be funny. It was very stupid cringe.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I don’t think I have? The most I’ve gotten would probably be passive aggressive ones. I’ll never forget the time I finished a chapter, posted it, and got a comment within the hour that said: ‘oh good you updated, maybe the next one will be up when I’m still alive, please.’ My petty ass never updated that fic again LMAO
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I’ve written it twice when I was in middle school-high school and didn’t know what I was doing and just using all the tropes I saw in other fanfics. It was not pretty. And the experience was bad enough to kind of sour it for me and I don’t really write it now. Maybe one day. The most you get out of me nowadays is tension, handholding and maybe a smooch.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of? Hopefully not.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I’ve had a lot of people ask for permission to translate my fics! So I think there are a few links floating around for my fics in other languages on foreign sites. Most are for my DCMK fics (lots of overseas fans), but one of my LOT ones was also translated into Russian.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I don’t know if this counts. But back when I was into the Spiderverse, I was in a discord where we basically chat-wrote an entire fic. We copy-pasted it for publishing on ao3.
What’s your all time favorite ship?
I do enjoy writing platonic more. But I guess HakuKai, Vox, and BobaDin.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I don’t want to put definitive ‘I’m never finishing this’ labels on fics because hey you never know. But a lot of my old fics from old fandoms will probably never get revisited unless I do a complete rewrite. That is due to vastly improved writing skills, and actual fic planning skills nowadays instead of just rushing in blind.
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and the general plot ideas. Also, I’ve gotten fairly decent at action scenes solely from writing Fox kicking ass and getting his ass kicked lately ahsjkfah
What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing fics. Description and emotions. The words I use are fairly simple, no flowery prose here haha.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don’t think it’s wise to put whole sentences/chunks of dialogue in a different language because it ruins the immersion to have to scroll down to see what the hell is being said (the hover function isn’t always readily available). But a few pieces of vocabulary here and there is fine, especially if it’s words that are widely known and understood in the fandom.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Naruto, when I was 10 :V
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Nooo, help I can’t choose. My most recent favorite is my Fox helps Boba out of jail. The one I look at fondly is Ascent, the most fun I have writing is, Party at a Sith Dude’s House.
tagging but no pressure <3 : @chiafett @neverfeedthesarlacc @bisect-u-maul @meerlichts @billielurked

Wonderings (The Mandalorian x Reader)
Tumblr media
Not my GIF
A/N: This is my first Mando fic and I wrote it directly after watching the Mandalorian for the first time so it may not be 100% accurate so I apologise for that. But regardless, I hope you enjoy it. Sorry for any mistakes.
Genre: fluff
Warnings: fem!reader, Soft and nervous Mando, feelings, (repetition), Pedro Pascal comes with his own warning
Summary: Mando grows feelings for a fellow hunter, it just so happened that she is the best hunter there is. There is no way she will ever be interested in him…right?
The Mandalorian defiantly turned heads when he walked into the cantina where the bounty hunter guild was located, as Karga had said, they all hated him, because he was a legend. And anyone seeing a Mandalorian in real life was sure to make them do a double take, after the fall of the empire it was rare to see one, in fact, it was nearly impossible, Din was one of the only one who had surfaced.
When he walked into the shady cantina the other hunters look his way, but it wasn’t enough to draw them away from their business, they all shot him a look of disgust but soon returned to what they had been doing. Mando strode over to Greef Karga who sat at the usual table awaiting any hunter who had returned from their mission.
“Mando” he announced happily. Mando came and took a seat next to him, tossing the fob device onto the table “you got it? Delivered?” He asked, Mando nodded and Greef gave him a pleased smile before tossing him a few credits as payment. Mando examined the amount for a moment before swiping them off the table and putting them into a small bag.
“I want my next job” he spoke, his voice muffled by the modulator.
“Why don’t you have a break? Take some time off” Greef persisted again, he had been acting like this for the past few weeks, if Mando didn’t know any better, he would say that Karga was trying to get rid of him, not that Mando would ever say this, the more he questioned, the more he played the game.
“I want my next job” he repeated, this time his voice more stern, he wasn’t in the mood for this, he just wanted to get back out there. Bounty hunting was the only way he was able to leave and do something interesting.
Karga gave him a look and then sigh, knowing that there was no arguing with a Mandalorian. “Fine” He said, he pulled out a few pucks and spread them in the table “take your pick”
“I’ll take them all” Mando muttered.
“You can’t do that, I’ll have none for the others” Greef said as he stopped the Mandalorian from scooping up all the pucks.
“What’s your highest bounty?” Mando asked.
“8,000” Greef shrugged as he slid forward the puck which he was referring to.
“8,000?” Mando repeated with a sigh.
Before Greef could respond, the door to the cantina slid open and the whole place fell silent. Now there was a bounty hunter who would turn all heads, pull everyone from what they were doing. She caught everyone’s eye, be that from fear of her reputation or her beautiful, goddess-like looks, Mando didn’t know. But any time she would enter the room she was the centre of attention. She would pay no mind to the many pairs of eyes on her being. She didn’t care for the attention, she was all business.
The Mandalorian was defiantly interested by her, both her reputation and her beauty, he couldn’t deny that she was beautiful. Din had never had much interest in women, relationships, all that kind of stuff, but when he had first seen her, that all seemed to change. Gradually, he began feeling strongly towards her, he admired her greatly. He was in awe of her skill. She was an excellent hunter, maybe the best in the guild, but she was a woman of few words, much like Din who never cared to speak when not necessary. But what words she did speak were either the most terrifying words anyone could ever say or something similar to a song, a poem, her words captured what little beauty there was in the universe, but Din was lead to believe that the latter was only from his point of view. He very much doubted that any others would hear her words like bird song in the early mornings of a warm spring day.
And her eyes. Mando was intrigued by her eyes. So deep. So bright. They were more fascinating to him then any other sight he had seen in the galaxy. They were their own galaxy. When he got the chance to look into her eyes, well, he may as well be sat in the cockpit of the Razor Crest, flying from one system to another, the bright silver dots in the blanket of black surrounding him, the colours of the galaxy combining together. All of it seemed to be stored in her eyes, and somehow, it was even more beautiful then the real thing. And her smile. Her smile warmed his heart on the rare occasion she would show it. The gentle upturning of her rosy lips caught his attention every time. He noticed that it was only ever him that she would show it too, perhaps that was because she trusted him, she felt comfortable enough around him to lower her walls and reveal her softer side to him, if only for a brief moment. He felt incredibly lucky to be bestowed such an honour.
Unlike most other bounty hunters, she did not wear any sort of armour. Aside from the two metal vambraces she wore on her forearms. Instead she was covered in black fabric, her outfit was that of the average assassin, topped off with a thick black cloak that was draped around her body. On her back she had her two large swords, crossed over, easy access, Mando couldn’t help but wonder how many other smaller blades she had littered around her body, she defiantly seemed to favour the blade over the blaster. She had amazing aim and the daggers seemed to glide through the air when she threw them, she never missed a shot. Her solid black boots sounded like thunder through the silence cantina as she made her way over to Mando and Greef. Mando noticed out Greef seemed to shift nervously in his seat, but Mando couldn’t blame him, as much as Mando admired her, she still sent a shiver of fear down his spine with every step she took, her steps were powerful, each one with purpose, she never took a wrong step.
She stopped at their table and reached into her pocket, her hand momentarily disappearing into the sea of black fabric before reappearing and placing the fob device gently onto the table. “Well done (Y/N)” Greef smile nervously, his voice matching his face. She nodded at his praise and turned her attention to the Mandalorian who sat there looking at her through his dark visor.
She flashed him a gentle smile and his heart fluttered. The moment was quick but it was burned into his mind, “Mandalorian” she greeted him. He always wondered why she never took to the nickname that most others called him, she never called him ‘Mando’, it was always ‘Mandalorian’. He often wondered what his real name would sound like coming from her voice. How something so foreign to him would sound so natural to her, and no doubt it would fall off her lips as though she was speaking in verse, a sweet tune would accompany her angelic voice.
“(Y/N)” he greeted back with a slight nod. He shuffled along the bench and allowed her purchase next to him. She took his offer and elegantly sat beside him. Only when she had sat down did the other hunters in the cantina return to their business, the sound soon rising again.
Greef lifted out a small sack of credits and slid it over the table to her. She gave him a thanking nod and attached the sack to her belt. Din could help but take note of how the sack seemed to contain a large amount, much larger then anything he had ever been offered, or perhaps it was simply a different form of credits, one that took a much larger shape, for all he knew there could only be five in there. That wouldn’t buy her much, maybe one drink. “What have you got for me?” She asked Karga.
Karga gulped slightly and reached into his pocket and pulled out a puck and placed it in front of her. Mando watch in suspicion as he moved, wondering why he had not shown Mando the puck. Greef pushed down on it and the bounty appeared, looked to be youngish rugged man, a scruffy stubble and messy hair, and he appeared to have many tattoos on his face. Mando looked to the amount being offered for the bounty as payment. “30,000?” She asked him.
Din felt anger rush his body, anger of why he had not been offered this puck. He could do so much with 30,000 credits. But he thought not to say anything yet, he would express his anger once (Y/N) was gone. “That’s all I’ve got” Karga shrugged.
“What about these?” She asked, pointing to the other four pucks that were on the table.
“These are for the other hunters, little rewards. Easy jobs” Greef waved off her question in an insisting tone.
Easy? Mando repeated harshly in his mind. He was feeling belittled by Greef. Mando was on of the best hunters in the guild, and he was being stuck with easy jobs?
(Y/N) looked to Mando, she could sense the anger radiating off his body. She touched his own puck and saw his bounty price of 8,000 credits. “The Mandalorian needs the money more then I do” she spoke. Her delicate fingers swapped the two pucks, leaving Mando with the 30,000 bounty. “I’ll take the easy job” she held out her hand for the fob and Greef handed it to her. She looked at Mando one more time before standing and making a quick exit.
Her presence in the cantina was brief but no less a gift to the Mandalorian. He looked to Greef, he wanted to say something but didn’t know what. Mando held out his hand, waiting for the fob. Greef sight and handed it to him. Din didn’t say anything to him, he just took the bounty and the puck and left, hoping he wold be able to catch her before she got to far.
He got out of the cantina and onto the relatively quiet streets of Nevarro. Luckily for him, she hadn’t made it too far. She was easy to spot in the crowd, perhaps it was because she wore such dark clothing, or perhaps it was because she was the most colourful person in his dark world. Din walked quickly after he and call her name softly. She stopped and turned to face him, flashing him another quick smile.  “Mandalorian” she said.
“Here” He said holding out the puck and fob device to her “this was given to you”
“And I gave it to you” she said as she pushed his hands back towards him “as I told Karga, you need the money more than I do, think of all you could do with 30,000 credits. You’re ship could be good as new, you could buy a new ship, but I know you are fond of your Razor Crest”
He looked at her for a moment and put the puck and fob into his pocket “thank you” he said.
“Don’t thank me” she shook her head to him “Greef should’ve given it to you any way. I don’t know why he always holds the high value targets for me. You are more than capable of retrieving them”
“Clearly Greef doesn’t think so”
“What does he know? He isn’t one who should be allowed to determine skill in bounty hunting if he does not hunt himself. You are an incredible bounty hunter Mandalorian”
“Coming from you, that means a lot” he told her.
“Why coming from me? Surely you are not a stranger to being called a great warrior, you are a Mandalorian after all” she said.
“It’s not that. It’s just…well, you are probably the greatest hunter in the guild, so to receive praise from you, it’s an honour”
She was lost for words for a moment. She just looked at him with soft eyes, she was thinking over his words, trying to embed them into her mind, she didn’t want to offer his words of praise to her. (Y/N) had always had a soft spot for the Mandalorian. He was a kind soul, which was strange to her. She had heard tales of the Mandalorian people being stern warriors so she imagined they would be big, mean, strong, armoured people who only did things their way. But her Mandalorian was a little different to what she originally thought. He wasn’t as big for one, still taller then her but held a rather slim figure. His voice didn’t hold as much of an edge as she assumed, it a a little rough but softer. He was very graceful too. Light and quick on his feet, quiet as well, very good and sneaking up on his bounties, catching them by surprise. Very skilled with a blaster and good with his hand when fixing his ship. He was indeed a fitting persona for the great warrior image. She hadn’t met a Mandalorian before him, and if all of his people were similar, then maybe they’d weren’t as stoic as then stories made them out to be.
“I appreciate your compliment Mandalorian” she said “although, praise from me does mean very little. You are the far greater warrior. I am just a bounty hunter” she shrugged.
“Even so, you are a great bounty hunter, if there is ever anything I can do to offer my thanks for this bounty, please just ask”
“Well, since you offer, mind giving me a lift to my bounty? I’d rather travel with you then have to find some stranger to fly me there. I imagine your ship is a lot cleaner and safer then any one else’s”
“Of course” he nodded “this way”
She followed after him as he lead her towards his ship. His Razor Crest. She had always wondered what the inside of his love of a ship was like. She wondered if there was anything inside that was a defining feature for him, a small trinket of his childhood perhaps. She knew very little about the Mandalorian. But he didn’t seem like the sentimental type so she imagined his ship wouldn’t hold much of his past.
He was walking slightly ahead of her and she stared at the back of his helmet. She had read about the Mandalorian creed, about how they never take off their helmets in front of others. She repeated him as a person and his creed enough not to ask any questions of why, also because she didn’t think she had earned his trust in answering her questions. She wondered what he looked like under the helmet. She wondered what colours his eyes were, if they were as soft as she imagined. Wondering what his hair looked like, if it would be messy or tamed. He didn’t strike her as one to keep a tidy appearance, no one would ever see him so why should he? She wondered what his skin tone was, if it was dark, pale or somewhere in between. She often found her self thinking about what he looked like, she had tried to create a person just based on his voice and body language but every person she had thought of just didn’t seem right to her.
She thought of what his body might look like. No doubt littered with scars from shootouts. She wondered if his face would have any scaring as well. Would he be well built? A strong, flat, firm chest. Or perhaps it was a little cushiony. She would much prefer the latter, she often found incredibly fit bodies intimidating. Seeing someone who had defining abs and muscles wasn’t all that attractive to her like it was other women. She would much rather someone softer.
Not that she would ever get the chance to know any of the answers to her questions, the Mandalorian would never show himself to her. They were fellow hunters. Not friends. Certainly not lovers. But she wouldn’t be opposed to either of those ideas, should he ever offer.
Soon they made it to his ship, she felt giddy in being allowed to see inside. He opened the hatch door and she watched as it hisses and slowly sunk to the floor. He was first to step inside as she quickly followed not wanting to make him wait for her. It was dark inside the Crest, there were few lights dotted around but it didn’t make it that much easier to see. But it was defiantly fitting for him. “So this is what the Mandalorian’s ship looks like on the inside”
“It’s nothing much” he said to her. He walked past her to a ladder and climbed up, she followed and found herself in the cockpit. He sat in the captains chair and began pushing away and some buttons that she wouldn’t have a clue what that did. “Where is your bounty?” He asked her as she began to turn a nob, some beeping sounding from a small screen.
She pulled out the puck and read the location name “Batuu” she told him. He began to fiddle with the screen and then he stopped which signalled to her that he had found the location. He took hold of a lever and looked behind him to her and saw she was standing awkwardly in the door way.
“You might want to sit for take off” he told her. She nodded and sat in the co-pilot chair and buckled her self in. He pushed a few other buttons and she heard the sound of the engines beginning to start up. He pushed the lever up and the ship lifted off the ground.
It wasn’t long before they were flying off the planet and into the space above, he had put the ship into hyperspace and she watched the stars flash past her “it’s quite far out, so we might take a while to get there” he said to her, he pressed a few buttons again and let go of the controls, autopilot taking over from his expert flying. She nodded to him “perhaps you would be more comfortable below” he stood from his chair and left the cockpit. She followed after him again, dropping down the ladder and seeing him staring into a hold that was full of blasters and charges.
“Make yourself comfortable” he offered, as he loaded his belt with charges and extra ammo. She took a seat on the bench next to a large crate of various pieces of metal, perhaps scrap parts from his ship or just things he has collected to maybe created something out of them to pass the time.
For a long while, there was a comfortable silence in his ship. She stayed in the bench, looking through the crate of parts while he went about his business, going back up tit the cockpit for a while before returning to check on her. She didn’t mind the silence. She was happy enough messing with the pieces of metal. And she didn’t want to disturb him from whatever he needed to do. She wasn’t sure if he was used to having guests on his ship, not including bounties of course.
He jumped down from the ladder and saw she was still interested by the metal that didn’t mean much to him. “We shouldn’t be long now” he told her.
“Thank you Mandalorian” she said to him “I appreciate you doing this for me. It has been a much nicer journey with you then if I had been taken by someone else”
“Why don’t you just buy a ship of your own?” He asked her. He had always wondered why she didn’t have a ship, it wasn’t like she was short in funds clearly. She probably had enough money to buy the best ship in the galaxy, but instead she relied on other to take her to her bounties. Mando angered at the though of how some greasy pilot would have treated her. He thought about what they would’ve done to her. But she was strong, and scary, so she would’ve been able to handle herself.
“I don’t know how to fly” she told him “I’ve never be taught to fly. And I never bothered to learn”
“Why not?”
“I don’t know” she admitted “it just never really appealed to me, it probably would be better but it just doesn’t mean much to me. I have ways of getting where I need to go” Mando nodded, not wanting to press her for any further explanation “did the Mandalorian’s teach you to pilot a ship?”
“Yes” he answered briefly, he leant against the wall of his ship and began cleaning his blaster.
“I’ve always wondered something about the Mandalorian’s” she began “being born into the creed, I assume you never seen the faces of your parents, they must have their helmets and all. But is there an exception for things like that? Surely the would not deny a parents right to look upon their child with their own eyes”
“There are exceptions to wearing the helmet. Once you are married you are able to reveal your face to your spouse, and you are allowed to look at your child but that is it. But for me it was a little different”
“Different? How?”
“I was not born into the creed” he told her “I was a foundling, my parents were killed when I was a child. And the Mandalorian’s came to my plants rescue, they found me and brought me into their family, trained me and made me who I am today”
“I’m sorry you lost your parents Mandalorian” she said to him in a soft voice.
“Don’t be” he shook his head “I am content in my life now”
She nodded to him. She stood from where she had been sat for hours and stretched. The was suddenly a large bump and the ship shook, she lost her balance and fell into the chest of the Mandalorian. His arm instinctively wrapped around her waist ready to protect her from danger, not that she needed it.
It seemed it was just that one knock. She looked at him through his dark visitor, his helmet tilted to look down at her. For a moment she didn’t want to move. She enjoyed the closeness they were sharing. She enjoyed have his arm wrapped around her waist, holding her closer to him. She enjoyed the warmth of his arm. She enjoyed his smell filling her nose. A comforting smell that she could only describe as him. And although she couldn’t see his eyes, she could feel them looking into hers. She wondered if he was looking at her with the same awe as she was looking at him.
He was. Under his helmet, Din stared into those beautiful eyes that he loved so much. He could feel himself getting lost in them. Like a maze of wonder. A maze of emotion. Perhaps it was his dazed mind playing tricks on him, or perhaps it was just the lighting, but he couldn’t sworn he saw a light dusting of pink across her cheeks. Was she blushing? Surely not. He didn’t believe that a situation like this was enough to weaken her so much that should would ever blush. Din’s face however, was burning. Her sweet smell slipped under his helmet and into his nose. He had never been as close to her as this, and now that he had her in his arm, despite it being accidental, he never wanted her to leave him. But he knew he should probably check what had made the ship rattle like it did.
“I um..” his voice suddenly broke through, it was muffled and rough from the modulator “I better see what that was” he said.
She was quick to step back, she rubbed her arm nervously and looked away from him. “Right” she said quietly. He cleared his throat and climbed up the ladder. Once he was in the cockpit of the ship, he let out a nervous sigh. She looked uncomfortable, maybe he shouldn’t have wrapped his arm around her. Perhaps he should’ve just pushed her away immediately, he held her against him too long.
A beeping sounded in his ear and it signalled that they had made it to their destination. He pulled out of hyper space and made an approach to a landing bay on the desert planet. Once his ship was securely on the groan, he climbed back down the ladder “we’re here” he announced.
He opened the hatch door and she stood and came to stand near him, keeping a slight distance as the door lowered to the sand. “Thank you Mandalorian” she said with a nod in his direction.
“Would you like me to wait for you?” He asked her.
“No. The bounty is to be delivered to a client on this planet. I can make my own way back to Navarro” she said “besides, you’ve got a 30,000 bounty to get after. You might want to hurry before someone else gets there first, it’s known to happen with high value targets. Good luck Mandalorian, I hope we see each other soon” she shot him a final smile before racing off out of his ship and disappearing over a large sand dune.
-
Mando let out a loud grunt as he was thrown once again to the floor “I thought Mandalorian’s were stronger than this” the bounty teased, his laughed booming through the enclosed space they found themselves fighting in “the legendary warriors, you aren’t doing well to prove they are deserving of the title”
Mando pushed himself up and grabbed his blaster, but he didn’t managed to get an aim on the bounty before his arm was being pushed roughly behind his back. Mando grunted when his arm made an unsatisfactory click. Something had defiantly been shifted out of place. “Come on Mandalorian, surely you can do better then this” the bounty laughed in Mando’s ear.
Mando shoved his elbow into the rib of the bounty. He stumbled backwards but it didn’t deter him from the fight. If anything it encourages him to hit harder “you’ve still got some fight in you” he smirked. Mando grabbed a knife from his belt and held it out in front of him. He should’ve known better then to under estimate a high value bounty.
The bounty came running at Mando with a loud yell, Mando braced himself for a hit but it never seemed to come. He heard a loud thud and looked to where the bounty was. He saw he was lying lifeless on the floor, a dagger stuck into the centre of his back. He looked up and saw (Y/N) standing there, a slightly worried look on her features. Mando was quick to stand, not wanting to look weak in front of her “(Y/N)” he said in slight surprise. He watched as she walked over to the bounty, pulling her knife from his back as slipping it back into her belt. “What are you doing here?”
“I finished my bounty a lot quicker then I thought. I thought you might need a hand, not that I want to diminish you or anything” she said to him “don’t worry though, this is your bounty”
“How did you find me?” He asked her.
“I have a good memory” she smiled to him softly.
“Did you kill him?”
“No, he’s alive. The knife has a poison on it, very fast acting, it won’t kill him but it will keep him unconscious enough for you to deliverer him”
“Thanks for the help” he said to her as he cuffed the bounty.
“Not that you needed it” she shrugged. He lifted the bounty and flung his arm over his shoulder to drag him out back to his ship “can you give me a ride back?” She asked.
“Sure” he nodded.
-
“So, what do you plan on spending your 30,000 on?” She asked him as she looked around the cockpit, fascinated by all the buttons and wondered what they were all for. He didn’t turn to face her, instead he continued to look out of the window, clearly cautious of where they were going. He had mentioned that they were coming up to an astroid field.
“I haven’t thought about it. Probably some extra parts for the Crest” he said with a slight shrug as he began to press some buttons and flip some switches.
“Or, you could but buy a new ship” she offered.
“I like this one” he answered her quickly.
“Right..” she said quietly with a nod “I never wouldn’t taken you as the sentimental type. You seem awfully attached to this ship”
“It’s a good ship, old, but it’s good enough for me”
“Fair enough” she shrugged.
“I’m not sentimental…” he mumbled “I have nothing to be sentimental about…”
“I didn’t-it wasn’t meant to offend you, I’m sorry Mandalorian”
“It didn’t offend me, I’m sorry, I don’t know why I said that”
“It’s okay” she said, “thank you for doing this for me, for giving me a lift back to Nevarro. I appreciate it. And I appreciate you being so kind to me in the journey”
“You’ve given me no reason to not be kind to you” he finally spun in his chair and looked at her, obviously she still couldn’t see him.
“Can I ask you something?” She asked him. He nodded “Are you…scared of me?”
“Scared of you?” He repeated “I’m not…scared of you. Intimidated, a little but not…scared. I don’t think I would say people were scared of you, they are intimidated. And rightly so, you are incredibly strong, talented and-“ he quickly cut himself off before he went about confessing his feelings to her.
“And?” She asked quietly as she shifted forwards in her chair, getting closer to him “and what?” She whispered.
He gulped and didn’t respond for a moment, he was caught up at his close she was. It was different from when she had fallen into him, that had been an accident, this was on purpose, she wanted to be close to him. Her hands rested gently on his thighs, a touch that was barely there but still, a tremendous warmth spread through his body. Her touch electrified ever nerve in his body, his face heating up again. His eyes weren’t on hers, the were on her lips. Slight parted as she awaited his answer, beautiful and pink, looking so soft and full. What he wouldn’t give to be able to touch them, to kiss them.
“B-beautiful…” he whispered, his voice was incredible small, he felt incredibly small. Her gaze was burning into him, intimidating him. “You’re beautiful…” he said again, his voice still holding the same quietness about it.
“You think I’m beautiful?” She questioned him gently. He nodded and swallows thickly “you would be the first she admitted.
“The first?” He said, slight shock in his voice. He refused to believe that he was the first person to call her beautiful.
She nodded “I don’t know if anyone else has ever thought it, but no one has ever said it. They were all…too scared to say if they did think it”
“I don’t think fear should get in the way of telling somehow how you feel…” he said. He shakily lifted her hands to take hers. Her eyes dropped to his lap, he pulled her hands off him and placed them back on her lap, he went to pull his hands away but she grabbed them before he could.
She lifted her head and looked at him again with wide eyes. She gasped slightly and let go of his hands. She stood and quickly left the cockpit. He didn’t quite understand what was happening. He didn’t understand why he had suddenly left him, she was giving him mixed signals, he didn’t know what to make of it all. He turned to make sure that the ship was in autopilot and he followed after back down the ladder to see that she was sat on the bench looking down.
“Are you okay?” He asked quietly.
She nodded to him “I’m sorry…I don’t know what came over me…you just…overwhelmed me when you said I was beautiful…”
“I’m…sorry..” he didn’t know if that was the correct response, he wasn’t sorry for complimenting her, he wasn’t sorry for the moment they shared, but he was sorry for making her feel overwhelmed.
“Mandalorian..” she began as she lifted her head to look at him. He sat on the bench next to her “thank you for being a friend…”
“Friends? He smiled softly, but knew she couldn’t see it so he tried to make his voice sound hopeful.
“I mean…I suppose so. I know that…we don’t talk often. I know that I don’t talk often. But you are a very kind person, much kinder to me then anyone else has been. I guess…emotions took hold of me. I’ve always had…a little soft spot for you Mandalorian. I just thought…though that…” her words trailed off as he looked away from him again, he lifted his hand and gently rested it on her cheek and turned her face so she was looking back at him, his hand didn’t leave her skin.
“Thought what?” He asked her.
“You would…like me…” she mumbled “but…perhaps there is a rule that says a Mandalorian can only be with another Mandalorian, or perhaps there is a rule that says Mandalorian’s cannot be with anyone. I’m an idiot to think…we could…ever be…together…even as friends…”
“Can you close you eyes for me?” He asked her quietly. She looked at him confused.
“Close my eyes? Why?” She asked.
“Please…just…close them…don’t open them until I say”
“Um…okay” her eyes fluttered closed and his hand left her cheek. She sat there awkwardly as she wondered what he was doing. She heard some rustling and then a soft clink and his hands found her cheeks again. She heard him draw in a breath. It sounded clearer. It wasn’t modulated now. She wondered if he had taken off his helmet, she squeezed her eyes closed, she didn’t want to be tempted to open them and look at him, she respected his code.
She was about to ask him what he was doing but she didn’t get the chance to say anything. His warm lips pressed against hers. She gasped slightly and then shuffled closer, kissing him back. His hands seemed to grip her cheeks in desperation, he didn’t want to ever let her go.
He had thought about this moment more times then he wanted to admit. He wanted to taste her sweet lips, feel how warm they would be. And now that he got a taste, he was addicted. Her own hands cautiously raised to his cheek, she cupped them gently, her thumbs running over his rough skin. She couldn’t help but smile against his lips.
He slowly pulled back from her and looked at her, her eyes thankfully still closed. “I admire you” he muttered to her “I admire you greatly. We can be together if you wish…there is no rule that says we can’t…only, I cannot show you my face…”
“I know Mandalorian…I respect your creed. I will never make you take it off until you want to. If we can have moments like this, that’s all I ask”
“I will give you anything you want” he promised her “perhaps we should split the reward”
“No,” she shook her head “you keep it. I don’t want it”
“But you helped me”
“I don’t want it” she repeated.
“Okay…” he pulled himself from her and put his helmet back on “you can open your eyes again” he said. Her eyes fluttered open, she blinked a few times and saw he was now standing. She gave him a soft smile “we should be coming up to Nevarro now”
She nodded “I’ve always wondered what it would be like to kiss a Mandalorian”
“And? Was it want you imagined?”
“No” she said “it was far better”

/////
You and Mando entered the Nevarro cantina, immediately drawing the attention of every patron in the establishment. You were still not used to the attention of running around with a Mandalorian, let alone the attention you received from being with a Mandalorian covered in beskar. You both received many glares and stares of awe as a deafening hush fell over the room as you and Mando headed for Greef, who was sat in his usual booth.
He seemed to finally notice the shift in the atmosphere and looked up from his drink, a wide smile adorning his face when he saw the two of you approaching.
“Ah, Mando, (Y/N)!” he lets out a low chuckle as you both finally come to stand next to the table, “They all hate you because you both are legends!” he boasts proudly.
You roll your eyes and cross your arms over your chest as Mando speaks, “How many of them had tracking fobs?”
He scoffs and gestures around the bar, “All of them. All of them! But not one of them closed the deal. Only you guys, only you.”
“yeah?” you bite, “At what cost?”
Greef looks to you and gestures to you and Mando, “Well it seems the cost was not so great, as you both are standing here with the richest reward the parsec has ever seen.” He points to the seats across from him and sit back in his seat slightly, “Please sit, my friends.”
Mando unclips his rifle from his back and sits, motioning for you to do the same. You follow his lead and sit, rather snuggly, in the booth with him. You see Greef look at Mando momentarily before Side eyeing the other patrons.
“They’re weighing all that beskar in their minds, but not me. No. I, for one, celebrate your success. Because it is my success as well. Hell, even I’m rich!” he proceeds to flash you both three bars of beskar before hiding them once more, “Now, how can I show my gratitude to my most valuable partners?”
Your mouth tugs into a frown at his words. Just a few days ago he hated you, and now you were one of his most valuable partners? You have to stop yourself from rolling your eyes.
“I want my next job.” Mando deadpans.
You look over to him in shock, “Mando what the hell I thought-“
A quick jab in your side and a quick tilt of his helmet shuts you up, mouth snapping shut so hard your teeth click. So, this was part of his plan it seems.
“Next job?” Greef asks incredulously, “Take some time off. Enjoy yourself!” Greef gestures behind him vaguely, “I’ll take you to the Twi’lek healing baths,” he says suggestively.
Your face twists up in disgust, “You know I’m still here right? Ew.”
Greef casts you a somewhat annoyed look but Mando speaks up before he can say anything, “We want out next job.” He reiterates.
“Sure. Fine.” Greef relents, “You hunter’s like to keep busy. Right?” he pulls a sack from beside him and dumps out some pucks, “Well, these are all far away.”
“The further the better,” Mando says.
“Well take your pick, you’ve earned it.” Greef responds, crossing his arms.
You watch as Mando picks up a puck and sets it on the table watching as it flickers to life.
“Ahh,” Greef sighs, “That’s the best of the lot. A nobleman’s son skipped bail,” he chuckles, “Looks like you’re headed to the ocean dunes of Karnac.”
Mando swiped the puck from the table, turning it off, and nudges you slightly, motioning you out of the booth. You do as he says and stand wait for him to grab his rifle before he stands as well, turning to leave. You go to follow but almost run into him as he stops short.
“Any idea what they’re gonna do with it?” He asks.
“With what?” Greef asks.
Mando finally turns back to face Karga, and you move out of his way to stand beside him, “The kid,” you clarify.
Greef sighs, “I didn’t ask. It’s against the guild code.”
“They work for the empire,” Mando’s voices is a bit more convicted now, “What are they doing here?”
“The empire is gone Mando.” he stands straighter at this, “All that are left, are mercenaries and warlords. But, if it bothers you, go back to the core and report it to the New Republic.”
You huff, “That’s a joke.”
Greef ignores your comment and looks to Mando again, “Mando, enjoy your rewards. Buy a camtono of spice,” he suggests, “By the time you come out of hyper drive, you will have forgotten all about it.”
Mando says nothing as he turns and walks to the door, you follow behind him. you continue to follow him but are increasingly confused as you see the razor crest come into view.
“What are we doing?” you ask as you both reach the ship and board it, “I thought we were going to get the kid.” You argued as Mando sits in the pilot’s seat and fires up the ship, ignoring you.
“Hey, hey!” you grasp his shoulder roughly and force him to face you, “you said we were going to get the kid, so what the hell is going on!” you demand.
Mando shrugs your hand from his shoulder and turns to face the front once more, “Karga was right. It’s against guild code. We can’t do anything.”
You watch in stunned silence as he continues to fiddle with the controls and you feel a small lump form in your throat as you see him reach for a lever, only to see that the small silver ball is missing. And memories of the small child playing with said silver ball flash through your mind. You shake your head as you see Mando hesitant slightly before screwing the ball back on slowly.
“Well, I’m not going to sit here and do nothing,” you said, “I’m going to go and try and do something to make this right. With or without you.”
You turn on you heel, your cloak fluttering behind you, frustration boiling up in as you move to exit the ship. But before you can even press the button to lower the ramp you hear the engines whine to a stop and the ramp opens before you. your eyes widen slightly, and you look to your left seeing Mando step to stand beside you.
“Let’s go make this right.”
You feel the corner of your mouth tug up in a half smile as you both walk down the ramp towards your new mission.
* * *
You follow Mando as you approach the alley the clients building is situated in. As you both walk down the alley, you see Mando slow to a stop next to a dumpster and peer in. you peak a glance over his shoulder and you feel your heart sink as you spot the all too familiar bassinet laying discarded in the trash. Mando stares at the object for a moment, before straightening up and you can almost feel the resolve and anger roll off of him. The next thing you know you both are perched on a rooftop adjacent to the client’s hideout and Mando as scanning the building. You sit in silence next to him as he adjusts various things in his helmet and gun before standing once more and walking back down to the ground.
“Did you find anything?” you asked curiously as you followed behind him.
“They want something from the kid, not sure what. And it sounds like they are running out of time.” He explains simply.
“Well we won’t let them take him.” You say firmly as you both approached the client’s door.
You watch as Mando knocks firmly on the door before stepping back. A small camera mechanism burst from a small hatch in the wall and you immediately grab in in your hand and rip it off before swiftly following Mando and taking cover behind the corner.
You hear a pair of Storm troopers exit the building, “Search the perimeter,” one of them orders.
You stay in your place and watch from the corner of your eye as Mando places a small explosive device on the wall and returns to you to take cover as a deafening explosion grant you both access to the facility. You quickly move towards the gaping hole in the wall and enter the building before taking cover behind some crates.
Another set of troopers enter the room and hastily search the area, not seeing either of you as they pass your hiding spot to observe the damage. Then, as their backs are to you, you and Mando each fire a blaster shot into the troopers, killing them.
“’The empire’s dead’, my ass,” you mutter as you both exit the room and move deeper into the building.
You come upon another guard, and Mando quickly dispatches of him with his grappling hook, driving his blade into his neck. You move over to a locked door and shoot the panel to the left of the door, opening it. You just barley manage to block a blaster shot from the trooper within, by raising your beskar clad arm in front of your face. You quickly shoot him before looking at your arm guard an impressed look on your face and cast a quick glance to Mando.
“This stuff is the shit!” you exclaim excitedly.
Mando just nods and moves past you to the next door, “Don’t mention it.”
He shoots the next panel and you both enter the next room, and you immediately recognize Doctor Pershing, as he cowers against the medical bed hands held in front of his face.
“No, no, no, please!” he cries, “Please, no no!” he cowers even further as Mando points his blaster in his direction before shooting an advancing security droid from the air.
You both have your blasters pointed at the flustered doctor, but he continues to block the medical bed, “No please, please don’t hurt him. it’s just a child.” He pleads.
Mando ignores his cries for mercy and steps forward shoving him to the side as you move to look at the child. He was in some sort of machine, various monitors displaying different symbols and numbers. The child seemed to be unconscious. You saw Mando look over the child as well, before you moved around him, pointing your blaster furiously at the Doctor now lying on the floor.
“What did you do to him?” you spit, “What did you do?” you wanted to shoot him right then and there.
But the doctor held up his hand, “I protected him! I protected him. if it wasn’t for me, he’d already be dead!” he defended, “Please, please.”
You lowered your blaster and took a step back looking from the whimpering man back to Mando. He just nods to you and you take that as you’re cue. You move to grab the child, gently cradling him in your arms and follow Mando out of the room, leaving the doctor behind.
You have your blaster raised ready to fire of necessary, and you watch carefully as Mando too has his blaster ready. You enter another room and quickly duck behind a pile of crates as two troopers enter the room. You wait until they leave through the other door and leave your hiding place continuing your path to the exit. You enter the next room and see two more imps enter through the door and you try to hide once more but you must’ve hit something electrical because it causes a spark to ring out in the room and alerted them to your presence.
“Look there!” one of them called, firing a few blaster shots in your direction.
You both ducked to the side dodging them and moving further into the room to hide.
“split up,” one of the troopers command, “We’ll flush ‘em out.” As they start to approach your position you both move silently a few more feet away.
“Give it up! there’s nowhere to-“ Before the trooper can finish Mando bursts from the shadows and dispatches him quickly before moving to the next just as fast. It was over in the millisecond it took you to blink and you were moving out of the room and into the next once more.
You spot a trooper coming out of a door to your left and you turn to fire a blaster shot at him, landing the shot squarely in the chest. You hear Mando turn to attack a different trooper who had entered the room and cringe slightly at the immense heat that comes from the flames of his bracer. You hear the agonizing screams of the trooper only momentarily before he too falls to the ground. A small coo coming from the bundle in your arms causes you to finally look at the child. And you smile when you see his large bright eyes looks up at you. You don’t have time to dwell on the fact before Mando motions to you.
“Come on, we need to move.”
You nod your head curtly and swallow thickly. You had a bad feeling about how this whole thing was going to end. You follow behind him as you enter a rather large room and the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. But before you can warn Mando the doors on each wall open and four troopers enter the room, blasters aimed directly at you.
“Freeze!” one of them commands, “Don’t move!”
“Hands up and drop the blasters!” another one yells.
“Wait!” Mando says, raising his blaster in a surrendering manner, “What she’s holding is very valuable,” Mando informs, crouching lower to the ground, “Here.” He sets his blaster on the ground and stays crouching.
“Mando what the hell?” you whisper, blaster still raised.
“Just do it.”
You cast him a questioning glance, but you relent and slowly move to crouch next to him, setting your blaster and the child on the ground in front of you. The troopers bite out another command, but you can’t hear it over the blood rushing in your ears. You cast a glance at Mando and see a mechanism on his arm guard open up revealing several small blue glowing lights. Before you could figure out what they were Mando pressed a button and four of them shot from his forearm and soared through the air, hitting and killing the troopers around you.
You look over to him, shock clear on your face, “What were those?? Have you always had those?” you question.
“New upgrade.” He says simply.
And before you can question him further, he is grabbing his blaster and standing to his feet. You follow his lead and scoop up the child and your weapon and follow him out of the base and into the evening air of Nevarro. You both walk quickly, but calmly towards the front of the town, you are whispering quiet reassurances to yourself.
“Just stay calm, act calm, and no one will notice anything,” you whisper, “Just act natural. And everything will be fine.”
“What are you doing?” Mando asked, annoyance dripping from his words.
You glance up at him before looking back down to the child rubbing a finger along his forehead gently, “I’m speaking our success into existence,” you say, “and also trying to calm myself down.” You explain nervously, pushing past the lump in your throat.
But as you come closer and closer to the town square you are increasingly aware of the several bodies following you, then finally surrounding you as you both step foot into the large empty area of the town. The incessant beeping of tracking fobs filling the night air.
“You were saying?” Mando says bitterly.
You glance from all of the bounty hunters surrounding you to the front of the square and narrow your eyes as you see Greef Karga step out from behind a crate hand on his weapon.
“Welcome back, you two!” he greets with fake enthusiasm, “Now put the package down.”
Mando’s hand hovers over his weapon, and so does your as he speaks, “Step aside. We’re going to my ship.”
Greef lets out a quiet chuckle, “Put the bounty down, and perhaps I’ll let you pass.”
“The kid’s coming with us.” You say, taking a threatening step forward.
“If you really care about the kid, then you’ll put it on the speeder,” He points to the droid run speeder and you and Mando glance at it quickly, “Then we’ll discuss terms.”
“How do we know we can trust you?” you ask skeptically.
Greef scoffs, “Because I’m your only hope.”
You look to Mando for guidance on what to do. Was he going to make you give the child up? after all you had done to save him? he doesn’t do anything for a moment before he jerks his head in the direction of the speeder. You nod curtly, and you both walk over to the speeder with the child. You both still as you reach the machine and you cast a glance at the child in your arms, eyes closed and blissfully unaware of the danger you all were in. You cast another glance to the Mandalorian next to you before glancing discreetly at the bounty hunters close to you then to the speeder. Mando tilted his head slightly, seemingly confused. You sighed inwardly, for a bounty hunter he was really bad at reading cues. So, you glanced at the hunters nearest to you again and then pointed minutely to the empty space in the speeder. He seemed to understand what you were saying and nodded. Before anyone realized what was happening, Mando fire off two shots, killing the two hunters closest two you and then the both of you flipped over the side of the speeder and behind cover. Blaster fire filled the air as they fired back at you. Mando had landed slightly on top of you in your hasty attempt for cover and you struggled against him.
“Mando-“ you gasped, “You’re crushing me.”
You hear him mutter an apology before rolling off you and you fire back at the other bounty hunters wile Mando threatens the droid into driving the speeder out of the chaos. You keep the child tucked under you safe from any stray blaster bolts and continue to fire back against them alongside Mando as the speeder moved through the square. You and Mando both landed many successful hits against them but were suddenly thrown forward as a well-aimed hit from Greef made the speeder come crashing to a halt. Silence filled the air and you saw the remaining hunters close in on the speeder. You looked down at the child who, was now awake, and cast a worried glance to Mando.
“What are we going to do?” you whisper, fear lacing your words.
Mando says nothing as he pulls his rifle from his back and aims carefully. He pulls the trigger, the sound of the gun going off deafening in the silent square. He manages to take out four more hunters before they are all behind cover, and Greef speaks up once more.
“That’s one impressive weapon,” he calls out.
Mando lowers his weapon slightly, “Here’s what I’m going to do,” he begins, “We’re going to walk to my ship, with the kid, and you’re going to let it happen.”
“No,” Greef responds, “How about this? We take the kid, and if you try to stop us, we kill you and strip your body for parts.”
As Karga stops his spiel, you notice a figure sneaking up on the speeder. You quickly kick a barrel close to you, stunning the figure before raising up and firing your blaster. Your action causes all hell to break loose as everyone in the square opens fire onto you and Mando. You instinctively curl back around the child and try to fire shots off. You hear the tell-tale sound of Mando’s flames erupt beside you followed by exclamations of surprise around you. you feel your heart sink as the machine splutters to a stop and blaster fire continues to rain down upon you. You see Mando drop down next to you and he stares at you and the child, and he seems to deflate. In that moment you realize that he doesn’t have annoy other ideas. You watch as he stares down at the child between the both of you, and a little coo erupts from his mouth. You feel your hand tighten around the small bundle and you look at Mando, a defeated look in your eyes.
“We tried,” you said, voice loud to be heard over the blaster fire, “That’s all we could do.”
Mando doesn’t respond so you continue, “Thank you, for going back for him.”
You can feel tears burn at the back of your vision at the hopelessness of the situation, and you have to blink them away. You see Mando reach a hand out for the child pulling the cloth down to look at him. you thought he was going to say something, but before you could find out for sure, a high-pitched whistling accompanied by a bright light caught everyone’s attention. You watch as a projectile flew over your heads and into a figure standing on a roof several yards away. You look to Mando, eyes wide, before casting your eyes back to the sky only to see a large group of Mandalorians flying into the square and firing on your attacker. You watch in complete awe as the Mandalorians proceed to almost completely wipe out the threat. Mando also returns fire, and so do you before a Heavy Infantry Mandalorian lands a few feet from you, gun firing rapidly.
“Go, get out of here!” he instructs, “We’ll hold them off.”
Mando stops shooting to look at his comrade, “You’re going to have to relocate the covert.” He calls back.
“This is The Way.” Is all he offers.
“This is The Way.” Mando repeats, before grabbing your arm and hauling you off the speeder and to your feet.
He takes the child from your arms and you offer no complaint as you both sprint towards the razor crest, the sounds of battle fading behind you. You see Mando slow to a job in front of you and followed his lead, a few paces behind him as he enters the ship. You both failed to notice the figure climbing down the ladder behind you. You were only aware of it when their boots hit the ground and you whirled around drawing your blaster. But before you can fire off a shot a rough hit to your temple sends you crumpling to the ground, and Mando quickly turns to face your attacker.
“Hold it, Mando.” Greef’s voice fills the hull of the ship, and you groan as you try to sit up right.
“I didn’t want it to come to this,” Karga says, “But then you broke the code. And you-“ he gestures to you now, still on the ground trying to get your vision to stop swimming, “I knew you were trouble from the start. And I told you to stay away, but you didn’t listen.” He seethes.
Mando says nothing, his head just tilts down slightly to look at you before he raises his arm in front of him. Greef tenses at the movement but cannot react before Mando’s grappling device fires into a nearby panel and fills the room with steam. You cover your eyes instinctively and Greef fires blindly into the ship. He stops firing, looking for the Mandalorian, but a well-aimed blaster bolt hits him in the chest and sends him stumbling from the ship and falling onto the ground. Mando closes the ship doors as you stand up slowly, stumbling slightly.
“Are you alright?” Mando’s voice cuts through the silence and he lays a steadying hand on your upper arm.
You nod your head and give him a warm smile, rubbing your temple, “Yeah I’ll be fine. He just surprised me is all.” You reassure.
Mando just nods, and climb up the ladder to the cockpit, you follow closely behind. You take the child from his grasp as he takes the pilots chair, and you sit in the chair to his right, the child in your lap.
The ship lifts off the ground in into the air, past the clouds. You look out the window, watching the setting sun and let out a quiet gasp when the figure of a Mandalorian pull sup next to your ship.
“Mando look!” you slap his arm frantically while waving at the Mandalorian out the window, a silent way of saying thank you.
The Mandalorian gives you and Mando a two fingered salute before pulling away and back to the ground. You let out an amused chuckle and sat back in your chair.
“I have got to get one of those,” Mando murmurs.
You let out a loud laugh at this and nod your head, arms wrapping securely around the child in your lap, “Yes you do. That would so cool!”
You look down at the child as he wriggles in your grasp, reaching his little three-digit hand out in front of him. you follow his line of sight and a smile tugs at the corner of your lips when you see what he wants.
“Uh Mando.”
He hums in response, and you just hold out the child in front of you, so he is closer to the lever, “I think the little guy wants something.” You say amusedly.
Mando’s helmet turns to the side until he is looking at the child, grasping for the small metal ball on the lever. You watch curiously as the usually stoic and seemingly uncaring Mandalorian unscrews the little ball and carefully drops it into the child’s hand. The kid lets out a happy giggle and turns the ball over in his hand, as you pull him back into your lap.
“I think the kid’s making you soft Mando,” you tease as you leave the planet’s atmosphere.
Mando just shook his head as he continued looking forward, fully aware that it wasn’t just the kid who had an impact on his life. You did too.

i asked u to tag it anti mando bc a Lot of people are clowning on that post. i read through most of the additions and the main gist of most of them is “too much mando” “tired of mando stuff”
mainly negative stuff. there’s no reason to step to hate on something in order to lift up something else. very one dimensional views of the culture all which would fit under anti mando to me. i’m just asking u bc ur the op. if u really can’t use that tag than just use anti fanon or anti xxx. i can’t get anymore specific than that
I went through every reblog and reply, and I was actually surprised by how wholesome and drama-free the discourse was. Everyone made really interesting additions :) Most of the replies mentioning being tired of Mando stuff are actually still pro-Mando - it's almost entirely things along the lines of "I really like Mando clones but I'd just like to see more variety."
I didn't see anyone directly criticizing Mando culture, much less hating on it. In most cases, Mando culture isn't even examined (so I'm not sure what one dimensional views you're talking about?), just the very interesting divide between fanon portrayal and canon material. At worst, we were criticizing the prevalence of a fan/Legends portrayal over contradicting canon. Again, all the people saying they were tired of Mandalorian Clones immediately followed it by explaining they wanted more diversity, and that they liked the fanon views just fine.
I'll tag it #fanon vs canon, if that's okay with you. My advice would be to use the extension "tumblr savior" in the future - it allows you to blacklist entire sentences, so you can type something along the lines of "tired of x" and it'll hide the post.

The Mandalorian Thoughts - Setup
Okay I’m going to go and rewatch all of the episodes of The Mandalorian and jot down my thoughts on them. Basically like Decepticonsensual’s Stray Thoughts.
Before I start, here is a quick recap on my Star Wars background:  I was vaguely aware of Star Wars as a child, but I got into the fandom via The Phantom Menace when it came out in theatres. I binged the OT and wanted more, so my dad took me to the library, and I was delighted to discover that there was a whole slew of books set in the Star Wars universe. The first EU book that I read was The Courtship of Princess Leia, and the next was the Thrawn Trilogy. After that I read everything that had Luke or Thrawn in it as a main character.
Somehow I got it into my head that Boba Fett is cool (I can’t remember how, but it was pre-AoTC), so I read everything with him in it, too. The best Boba content in my library at that time was The Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy, which was written before it was decided that he was a clone. Then AoTC came out, and I got into the Republic Commando series and the Bounty Hunter videogame. I lived and breathed Mandos during my teenage years, and lurked a lot on TheForce.net forums. I watched the Karen Traviss debacle go down in real time, which was a Trip.
The increasing darkness of the EU started to really get to me. Beloved characters were being broken, killed, or both, and worse and worse things were going down in the galaxy. The final straws for me were the Traviss debacle, and Jacen turning into Darth Caedus and being killed by his sister. I quit Star Wars completely because of that, and from 2008 to 2015 I was an embittered ex-fan who honestly kind of hated what had been my favorite franchise. Then TFA came out and I remembered, oh yeah, I love Star Wars, and I am back to being a huge fan.
I’m pretty picky about my content now, so I’m consuming less Star Wars stuff than when I was a teen. I’ve watched most of Rebels and enjoyed it, read a couple of the new books (Tarkin was everything I could have asked for), watched about ten episodes of TCW, watched the movies obviously, and freaking love The Mandalorian.
So that’s where we’re at. My main area of “expertise” is pre-2008 Star Wars content, primarily stuff set in the EU/Legends. My very favorite Star Wars time period is the Post Rebellion Era, which Mando is set during. There have been quite a few shoutouts to my favorite EU media. So I am tickled pink.
I’ll go with my tag “wyrd watches star wars” for anyone who wants to follow/block it. I’m going to try to watch the pilot and do my writeup tomorrow.

The Force Was Already Female
Tumblr media
Lost in all of this rhetoric about Hidalgo razzing Star Wars Theory for crying tears of joy after seeing Luke in Mando and the civil war for the soul of Star Wars at Lucasfilm between Favreau and Kennedy, is the fact that Mando literally discredited the huge reason given for why people disliked the sequels. If you recall, the rallying cry was that the fans were cellar-dwelling neckbeards who hate women. Kennedy and her cohorts literally attacked the fans, calling them sexist, misogynist, incels. She showed up, injected her bullsh*t gender politics into the franchise, discredited every male in the franchise, even the ones she had created, and declared the Force is female. That sh*t i wild to me because the forces has always been female and Mando proved it.
Tumblr media
This last season, we saw Bo-Katan Kryze, Cara Dune, Fennec Shand, and Ahsoka Tano. Each of these characters had highlight episodes. Bo-Katan and Cara Dune played an integral part in the entire show, both of which had two episodes to shine. Fennec Shand only got the one, i think, but she got to share the screen with Boba f*cking Fett, becoming his right hand for hi solo series, The Book of Boba Fett. and don’t get me started on my girl, Ahsoka. Her episode was the best in the season for me. I adore Ahsoka and she was portrayed perfectly by Rosario Dawson. I wrote a whole ass essay about that so I'm not going to get into it here, but Tano is slated for her own series as well, probably chasing after another Legends heavyweight, Thrawn. These women all showed up, wrecked sh*t, stole scenes, made dreams come true, and never once did anyone in the fandom object. Full on support for all of them, even the more politically problematic actress who plays Dune, Gina Carano.
Tumblr media
The force is, indeed, female and no one has a problem with it. No one ever had a problem with it. Let’s not forget that, along with Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley and Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor, Carrie Fisher’s Leia Organa is considered one of the classic Eighties examples of female bad-assery. Indeed, she was the first to make it to the big screen and, more than likely, influenced the other two to some extent. Leia stayed in those trenches. She has a body count. She chose to be captured in order to end R2 to Obi-Wan. Leia was dope and every bit as capable as her brother and eventual husband, which makes sense because her mom was hardbody as f*ck, too. Padme Amidala as the queen of a whole ass planet at the tender age of fourteen, man. She ruled over Naboo and was a f*cking Galactic Senate rock star, all before the age of twenty. Padme has a body count, too, fighting side-by-side with during the opening battle of the Clone Wars on Geonosis. This is after she lead a straight up stealth mission to retake her throne from the occupying Trade Federation when she was, again, f*cking fourteen. And these are just the accepted canon women. There is a whole ass smorgasbord of Legends females who the fandom absolutely love.
Tumblr media
Mara Jade Skywalker. Darth Talon. Bastila Shan. Darth Traya. Jaina Solo. These are just the few off the top of my head. Mara Jade was a massive favorite and the fandom wanted to see her in the sequels more than anything. Darth Talon is so popular that George Lucas wanted to install the character in HIS sequel trilogy as Vader to Maul’s Palpatine. These re facts. This is the reality of the fandom No one who loves Star Wars hates women. We hate underdeveloped, over-powered, Mary Sue ass, “characters.” We hate having all of these great worlds and heroes and lore people had spent decades carving out, thrown away with prejudice, just because the Ego-in-Charge literally hates the thing she was installed to protect from the very thing she did to it. Kennedy lied to Lucas in order to position herself as the executioner of everything Star Wars stands for and spam it with all of the sh*t ideas she had for the franchise. She spent her entire tenure as the Lucasfilm president, sabotaging and handicapping in an effort to bolster her own OCs when, in all reality, all she had to do is write good characters and none of this would have been a thing.
Tumblr media
Rey Palpatine isn’t a bad character in concept. I’ve written at length about how to fix Rey and it looks like Favreau’s is going to do just that but retconning her as a Kenobi somehow. I still think she needs to be a Skywalker, but that’s neither here nor there. If Rey was written better in the beginning, none of this would have to be a thing and, according to everyone in the know, from all of these leaks, she was. Rey was, very obviously, intended to be Luke’s daughter. The fact that she could do all the stuff in Awakens was because Luke was using her as a conduit to effectively reach out into the universe from Ahch-To. That’s why when she showed up and presented him with her grandfather’s lightsaber, Luke looked so forlorn. He would begrudgingly train her during most of Episode VIII culminating in a knock down, drag out, brawl between he, Rey, and Ahsoka Tano between Kylo and his Knights of Ren. Ahsoka would take Rey and flee, leaving Luke to be killed, becoming a Force Ghost and haunting his nephew for Trevorrow’s Episode IX. That was the treatment Abrams wrote up for the entirety of the sequels. That was the plan. That’s what was supposed to happen before Kennedy f*cked it all up.
Tumblr media
That version of Rey made sense. She felt earned. She felt like a Skywalker. The actual version of Rey we got? Rey f*cking Palpatine? That was a direct attack on the fans. To have The Galactic Emperor, strongest Sith Lord to date, triumph over the very line created specifically to destroy him by installing his seed, his lineage, as usurper of the Skywalker name, was a calculated, cruel, middle finger to everyone who loves this franchise. Not only that, but it was a straight up disservice to Daisy Ridley, who signed for something completely different than what she was eventually forced to perform. Rey Skywalker had so much potential and we as fans would have loved her. I’ve never heard one person who enjoys Star Wars say anything bad about these leaks on the original Sequel road map None of us would have objected to Rey Skywalker. By Episode IX, she’d have earned the level of strength she displayed at the end of VII. Instead, we got Rey Palpatine, the bestest evar! An OC of someone who hates Star Wars with an unearned and absurd amount of power. That’s what fans hated and we are right to do so. Rey Palpatine represents everything wrong with the Kennedy Star Wars. The force is, absolutely, female. It has been for years. We just want better females and Mando delivered that in spades this last season. Favreau showed us the way.

4, 1, and 19, if you want?
oh yeah let's goooOo
1. do you find force-users or non-force-users more interesting?
ok so, i honestly can’t answer this question directly bc what i find the most interesting is when these two interact with each other. because focusing on just Force users is... well... not that fun. it turns into OP characters slinging shit at each other 90% of the time, so if they don’t have an important relationship outside of their Force use, like Vader and Ahsoka as fallen master/big brother to defected apprentice/little sister, their Force powers become the focus and that’s only cool for like a fight scene or something. which is one drop in the ocean of what makes interesting stories or even good fight scenes! for example Vader’s fight with Ahsoka in Rebels is way more interesting than Yoda’s duel with Palpatine or Anakin’s first duel with Dooku or...
this isn’t as long as i was afraid it would be but ima throw it under a cut just for the sake of the mobile users lol
the best interaction between two Force users that focuses on the Force itself is Kanan and the Bendu, because the Bendu is so unlike every other Force user we’re aware of that finally something is interesting again. it’s no longer about good/evil or light/dark, it’s about transcending your own limitations and seeing everything for what it truly is. it’s about the real power of the Force, how it connects nature and the senses and the cycles of life and death. it’s about finding peace in yourself within that chaos that will always surround you, rather than trying to control the chaos (either by wielding it like the Sith, or by subduing it like the Jedi). it’s the objective and impersonal wisdom that can only come from radical acceptance in lieu of believing that a thing “should” or “should not” be a certain way, which is what Kanan is struggling with. i also hate how passive the Bendu is, despite also loving him a lot, but that’s a whole ‘nother essay lol
otherwise my interest comes from non-users and how they interface with users. you already addressed this re: vague and/or cultural notions of the Force (seeing users as religious zealots or practitioners of magic, etc) and how that would or, perhaps more importantly, would not influence a non-user’s life or choices politically or personally. but when mundane life comes up against those who use the Force, the friction is absolutely fascinating
the thing that irks me is that we don’t get enough of this in the canon. it might have been explored more in some of the legends (i am still wading around in the old EU, so i don’t know all the nuances yet) but what i wanna know is: why did Leia think that raising her son (kids, if you go with the old EU) and leading the New Republic was a tradeoff with being trained by Luke? would her non-Force sensitive allies and peers in the NR think her use was an asset or a threat? was Han Solo afraid of his son’s Force powers (which would be totally reasonable)? how did the parents of the kids taken by the Jedi Order actually feel about that, and what happened if they resisted? how did the fucking janitors of the Jedi Temple feel about it? if you live on an impoverished world where black market trade is the only reliable source of regular income, do you just think the Jedi are cops? we know how the Mandalorians felt about the Jedi, but they’re the only non-Force users (at least mostly, seeing as there are a few Mandos who are sensitive after all) that we know have a mostly unified and negative opinion of the Jedi mostly bc they were the only non-users who dared to stand up to them and they got fucking wiped out for it- and the Jedi had to fall back on ethically dubious means to accomplish that. so what was Satine’s opinion of having a Jedi escort before she went all uwu over Obi-Wan? what about the other species and cultures? how would they handle becoming close to (either emotionally or out of some necessity) a Force user? THESE ARE THE THINGS I WANNA KNOW
4. what headcanon will you defend to the death?
this is a struggle for me bc there are so many good ones, some of which conflict with each other but are still good so i will entertain either, and i have some of my own. i will defend someone’s right to their own headcanon even if i don’t fuck with it personally.
but i gotta say... Mace isn’t dead tho
if Maul can get cut in fucking half.... ijs
19. what’s your opinion on legends/expanded universe?
there is a lot of really awesome shit in the legends. i have no reverence for one over the other unless it’s important in the context of whatever i am writing/reading. i enjoy having two canons to pick from when i write tbh. i like that legends Thrawn is actually kind of a ruthless and feral dude, but new canon Thrawn is an antivillain (don’t get me started on the continuity problems between Rebels and the novels, that was pure lack of communication on the part of the creators and is just annoying same as the entire sequel trilogy). i think the new canon should have drawn more on some of the good stuff from legends; for example i wish Ben Solo was even remotely as cool as Jacen Solo, the character from legends that he’s very loosely based on. i think without the expanded universe stuff, Star Wars would not be what it is, and that is the most important thing about it.
plus it includes KOTOR I & II and that is obviously VERY crucial lol

Video Game Questionnaire
Was tagged by @insufficient-focus and @roguescarlett (on my main blog, but will do it here anyway XD)
Rules: Fill in your answers below and tag some buddies!
-Games-
First game you ever played: My memory is a bit hazy of exactly which game it was, but one of the first games I remember playing is Super Mario Bros.
Favorite game: Choosing a single game here is too tough. So will kinda list off a few of my favorites. Dragon Quest XI (and series), Star Wars Galaxies, KOTOR 1-2, SWTOR, Halo 2, Dark Souls 1 and 3, Legend of Zelda Wind Waker  Skyrim, and others...
Game you hated at first but now love: When I was younger I had a very love hate relationship with Dragon quest 8. When it came out I’d see my sister playing it and having a lot of fun. Anytime I’d try to play though I’d get super lost and was too unfocused to really pay attention to where to go. Now that I’m older and have a better attention span, I absolutely love the game.
Game you used to love but now hate:  I don’t think I really hate any game. I’ve been disappointed with a few games but they were never games I loved from the beginning anyway XD
Game with the best group/companion(s): There are so many good games with great companions. It may because I’ve played it more recently, but Dragon Quest XI has some of my favorite group companions.
A game with your favorite ending: In recent memory Dragon Quest XI and Red Dead Redemption 2. Out of all games though, Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask might be one of my favorite endings to a game.
A game with the WORST ending: Mass Effect 3...
Best character customization?: I only played it for a short time but Black Desert Online had an insane character customization. For a single player though I have to agree with others Dragon Age Inquisition had some of the best char customization
-Hero and Companions-
Your favorite playable character:  I play so many games with silent protags lol. Think Arthur Morgan from RDR2 might be my favorite in recent memory though.
The funniest playable character: Probably the created characters in the Saints Row games
Your favorite companion(s): All the Dragon quest XI companions and most of the companions in the other Dragon Quest games XD.  In swtor: Blizz, T7, Torian, Shae, Lana, HK-51 and 55, and Zeeyo :D (Love me some good mandos!)
Companions you could live without: Always Skadge
-Relationships-
Favorite game friendship(s): Yangus from Dragon Quest 8, Dimitri from Fire Emblem: Three houses, and Regis from Witcher 3
Favorite companion banter:  I love all the banters in the Nomad and Mako driving sections in Mass Effect
A relationship you loved but went bad: I really don’t know.
A relationship you weren’t sure of but loved: Don’t know this one either lol
A character you wish you COULD romance: I don’t know... I would say Jessica Albert from Dragon Quest 8 but in recent remake you can technically marry her.. Although you don’t get to do much romance stuff in game
A minor character you wish could be a companion: Darth Marr would be awesome to have as a comp.
-Fun-
Shoutout to a random NPC: FIRE EMBLEM GATE WATCHER!
A game you love watching playthroughs for and want to play: Even though I played them a long time ago, seeing the achievement hunter guys play through the Halo games doing LASO really has got me back into wanting to play the games.
Love watching playthroughs but won’t ever play: 7 Days to Die and horror games like Resident Evil. I’ll watch people play those but playing those kind of games would give me too much anxiety lol.
Online gaming or solo?: I generally play mostly solo games, but do enjoy playing swtor and other games with friends.
Why do you play video games?: I love to immerse myself within the awesome stories that the games tell. Bonus when they can get me really emotionally invested in the story and characters. I mainly play games as a way to relax from all my anxieties and cheer myself up when feeling down. I’m still kinda new getting back into this blog so I don’t wanna bother people with tagging. Sooo... I tag YOU, whoever would like to do this XD
