I'd like to write an idea with philon where he forces reader into some 'ritual' or an act to solidify the fact that hes chosen them (whether that will be smutty or not is yet decided). That ambrosia idea is incredibly tempting, I hadn't thought of it before!! Another Idea i was bouncing around was that perhaps reader will obtain a sort of harem of satyrs, since satyr lust knows no bounds. Though I'm not sure if philon would allow that; but I could see him being interested in watching one of his subjects 'entertain' darling while he directs. Anyway this is a tangent but I'd like to write more for him if I have more time!

Damn yall are liking this Hazbins Fallen au- I'm glad!! Honestly I was hoping people would like it but like, still a shock you know-

Anywaysss, I am busy but figured I'd post some fact/headcanons of the au, aoke plot points, mostly surrounding Emily because she's the main change of the au

Emily has a pretty big sweet tooth, and when she does get sweets she always gets extra for Razzle and Dazzle

Again, I will say this, Vaggie, Charlie and Emily are wrangle and dazzles moms. Keekee is not counting as a child cause the seems more like. A ept while Razzle and Dazzle seem mroe sentient, at least to me

Charlie and Seviathans relationship, post break up ofc, is like Ron Swanson and Tammy 2s, no the uh- getting back together part but the '....she's here-' part, Charlie absolutely hates his guts and whenever he's near her more demon features come out as she looks around trying to spot him

Emily barely holds herself back from killing slaviathen, you'd think it'd be Vaggie, but no, it's Emily

Emily design resembles a succubus, it was by complete accident, she lieks the color of horns and didn't realize what it could resemble-

Emily absolutely hates Al but hides it ebhidn a cheerful smile, silent anger so to speak(she does end up snapping at Al and I am so excited to write that scene)

Husk is Emily's father figure I already have a whole chaoter planned surrounding how they bon, Emily calls him dad from that chaoter onwards

Angle constantly makes 'I fucked you dad' jokes, even if they aren't true, at Em cause he knows it pushes her buttons....she retaliated by buying water balloons and throwing them at him one day when he makes the same joke again

Husk just watches.

In the pilot, vaggie holds up her spear and Emily pushes it down like "...no, no..." the Katy says soemthing homophobic and she immediately moves her hand away and says "nevermind. Do what you want."

Emily hates waking up early, she's done it for YEARS in heaven she'll eb damned if she does it for more in hell (plus there's nobody on her about being on time to places)

You knwo that scene where Husk is calling everyone out? Well, he looks at Emily and goes "and SHES....well....I've got nothing on her, she's perfect" you can tell who his favorite is

Remember when angle brings them ti a bdsm club? Yeah, I've- I've got a FUN scene idea for that-

Screw shoes let charlie show her hooves- especially since I 70% sure that hoped animals have to walk on their hooves or else they risk a lot of different things so- yeah, I'm throwing away her shoes.

You know victor from lackadaisy? I dont knwo why but I kinda like to imagine husk as him- like I'm debating if I should make husk have had a daughter when he was alive who he didn't get to see cause of the divorce and turned to alcoholism slowly. And Em reminds him if her and that makes him SCARED

Fun little idea I had that I may or may not include, depends how I'm feeling honestly, I do wanna ta leats keep some things liek how 'gruff' he is and apply it to husk, idm I feel like their personalities are every similar, thoguh that might jsut be me-

Charlie knows Vaggie and Emily are angles and all that stuff, as I've said before. So I'm debating wether or not to keep Al's deal in, I think I will but tweak it a bit

I love Al, but he is an above avrage overlord at best, the only reason he was able to fight agaisnthe exrocists and Adam was due to them not being used to people attacking BACK and seeing it more as entertainment then actual hunting.

Anyways Em may or may not call him out casually on multiple occasions- 'he does realize if he fights Adam he'll die- oh, and there he goes called it!' She doesn't like him

Em was very much called 'lucifers replacement' by many angles, not Sera but even Sera soemtimes accidentally said lucis name instead of Ems at Keats a few times. Anyways she hates lucifer despite never meeting him and for soem reaosn never realized he was Charlie's father-

Al and Rosie are Charlie's uncle and aunt, foudn family my beloved

The reveal that Emily is Emily the seraphim....well, lets hsut say when revealing vaggie to be an exrocist doesn't work. lute notices how fimiliar Em looks..... it's gonna be a very interesting chaote rthats for certain

Afterthoughts & Accountability [Liv X Luca]

A/N: I want you all to know, in advance, that I really hurt myself writing this one. I apologize… Um… I’m still crying so, read at your own risk AND REMEMBER THAT WE ALREADY KNOW THEY GET MARRIED SO DO NOT COME FOR ME OKAY LOVE YOU BYE.

(Luca)

Pump It by the Black Eyed Peas booms from a concerning decibel inside USB arena where Luca Fiala stretches out his left hamstring. He moves from a knee bend to a full extension, skate blade pointing up towards the fans to his left. Over in that group of fans is the love of his life, Livia Meier. She stands unassuming with other fans, bopping her head ever so slightly to the beat. Luca grins. He glances over his left shoulder, switching legs. Across the redline, Ryder Hughes stretches in a similar position with a few of his teammates.

“Ry, why is your girl over there? And wearing green?”

"Yeah, usually she is in Isles blue.” Luca pauses with his eyes on that guy, taking in his smirk. Ryder keeps his eyes trained on the ice, ignoring seemingly everyone. 

“Hey 86.” Luca tilts his chin up at Ryder when he gets back to a standing position. 

“2s.” Ryder acknowledges then rushes off to rip a shot on the goalie.

Luca takes a similar trajectory, but winks at Liv every lap he takes. He loves seeing the pink blush fill her cheeks at his attention. He hates that he has to leave right after the game. He will only have time for a hug and a smooch before he needs to join his team on the bus. Okay, maybe two kisses.

As one of the last ones to get off the ice, Luca peers over at the opposing team. Him and Ryder are the last two to get off. Luca won’t be giving in first. The Hughes boy flips one more shot at the net, then skates towards the opposing team’s tunnel. The entire skate, Ryder’s eyes remain on Liv. An uneasy feeling trolls down Luca’s spine. There is something about that look that doesn’t sit right with him.

But he has a game to play. 

Luca always gets antsy when he is part of the starting line up. In opposing arenas, he can’t help but chuckle at the boos raining down when they hear his name. He swivels back and forth on his skates, looking up at the rafters. He goes through his pre-game visionary exercises, picturing exactly how he wants the game to go. He loves playing in front of Liv. He wants to score a goal or two tonight for her. He might even toss a celebration her way in the form of a bow and arrow.

But from the moment the puck drops, the whole game feels off. Luca is getting constant shoves in the back and hard checks from the opposing team. Nothing he can’t shake off, but it rocks him off his initial game plan. Then, the comments start. It’s light razzing at first.

“Minnesota boy in the big city.”

“You speak English, Fiala?”

“Heads up, shrimp dick!”

Luca chuckles confidently at that one. No way that is true. But in the second period, the theme shifts.

“Livy looks better in our colors.”

“Your girl fits in perfectly with our WAGS. Might just keep her.”

“You’re so fucking ugly, no wonder Hughesy is dating your girl on the side.” 

That one makes Luca stare 33 down over his shoulder. He is wearing a full face shield and has dark black stitches diagonally across his cheek.

“What did you say?” The guy starts to repeat himself. Luca cuts him off. “What? Can’t hear you through that fish tank, pal.” Luca chirps back then makes a fishy mouth at him. He smirks as he heads off the ice. 

But next time 33 is out there with Luca, he ups the ante. 

“Livy Hughes has a great ring to it.” 33 chuckles as he skates back to the home bench for the TV timeout. Luca grabs a water bottle, squiring some in his mouth. He watches the opposing bench, zeroing in on Ryder as he steps out for the next play. Luca decides it’s time to take this taunting up with the source.

“Real cute having your teammates heckle me about my girlfriend, Hughesy.”

“I didn’t tell them to say shit. You’re the one who told Livy not to speak to me.” Luca laughs, genuinely. First he is hearing of this.

“I’ve never said that. If she isn’t speaking to you, it’s something you did.” Luca rests his weight on his stick, preparing for the face-off. Ryder scoffs.

“She asked me to stay the night. I was going to go home.”

The ref blows the whistle. Luca’s mind stutters like he slammed into a brick wall. The puck drops. It takes Luca three whole seconds to react. Then he is off, rejoining the play as an Islander’s defenseman pushes the rush into the Wild end. A rocket is launched from Luca’s guy, his positioning is off, and the puck ends up in the back of the net.

“Fuck!” Luca yells, hitting the puck into the back boards in frustration. Ryder is the last to leave the celebration. “Hey!” Luca screams at him. “What the fuck do you mean you stayed the night?”

“She was upset about the publisher thing and I was just trying to be there for her because you can’t be. She didn’t want to be alone.” His girlfriend’s lies spill out of another man’s mouth. 

Publisher thing? He doesn’t know anything about that. Luca feels completely out of control. All the anger and confusion burst out of him in the form of slapping his stick onto the ice.

“Let’s go.” Luca snaps, shaking off his gloves. He springs forward, grabbing Ryder’s blue jersey and landing the first punch. Ryder is knocked off balance. He struggles to shed his gloves, ducking each one of Luca’s punches as best he can. Luca is in such a fit of rage, he doesn’t notice his knuckles cracking open and bleeding with each hit of them against the blue helmet. Luca shakes the collar of Ryder’s jersey, mad that he isn’t connecting with Ryder’s face.

This punk ass bitch is going to make a move on his girlfriend and think he can get away with it? He’s going to act like he was doing Luca a favor when he was weaseling his way in between him and Liv? Luca’s fist is gonna righten that wrong. Luca shakes Ryder again.

“Square up!” Luca screams at the other player. He wants a fair fight.

Ryder hits Luca in the cheek, then pulls back, exposing himself for a returned favor. They battle, growing tired, but throwing blows like it’s old school hockey. Luca won't relent. Ryder steps up to the challenge continuously until Luca’s 15 pounds wins out and he throws Ryder onto his back. He kneels on top of him, rage in his brown eyes as he looks down at Ryder’s bleeding cheek.

“Wuss.” Luca scoffs.

“Fuck you.” Ryder snaps, shaking off the refs hand on him. “It’s not my fault you weren’t here for her!”

“I should have never trusted you!” Ryder skates towards him, but the ref grabs his jersey again.

“Boys! Get in the box!”

“I didn’t mean to fall in love with her.” Ryder’s voice is sincere, aching. “Loving her while she loves you is way fucking worse than anything you can do to me out here.”

Luca glides off the ice into the penalty box. The crowd roars in appreciation for their nightly entertainment. A few teammates bring the rest of his equipment over, giving him stick taps on his shin pads. 

“Good tilt, FiFi!”

“Hell of a fight, Fifs!”

“Yeahhhh luuuuuuuc!”

Luca doesn’t respond. He is too busy trying to catch his breath and stop the fragmenting of his heart in his chest.

Luca looks up to where he knows Liv is sitting. His shoulder pads rise and fall with his heavy breathing as he works them back into place. He can see her from here, laying over her thighs, hugging her knees as she looks in his general direction. He shakes his head, going back to wiping off his visor, thinking the same thought over and over again:

A whole world of production moves around Liv, completely oblivious to the turmoil within her body. She isn’t sure what she just witnessed on the ice but it couldn’t of been a hockey game between her boyfriend and friend. Because down on the ice in front of 18,000 people, Luca beat the shit out of the Hughes kid. 

Liv’s arms have been wrapped around her body since she saw Luca angrily turn towards Ryder after the first Islander’s goal. He seemed to lose it out of nowhere. They had been talking before the face-off and suddenly, after the goal, Luca was dropping his gloves. A wariness has Liv’s eyes shifting to both sides of her for either boy coming down to greet her. She wasn’t expecting Ryder tonight, but she isn’t naive enough to think he won’t show now.

As if on queue, he appears between a sea of event and security staff. They seem to part for him so he can see her standing alone next to a white pillar. Ryder comes strolling across the large space towards her. Liv glances anxiously over her shoulder the opposite direction where Luca would be coming from. She has no idea how to handle this. Will the tension from before spill over off the ice?

“Hi.” Liv greets him. She grimaces at the laceration on his cheek. It is red and angry, covered by a liquid gel to seal it.

“You didn’t tell him.”

“What?”

“You didn’t tell him I stayed over.”

“I… No.” Liv shakes her head. “I was going to, but there was never a good time.”

“He knows now.” 

“What!” Horror spills onto her face, dropping her bottom jaw open.

“I told him, accidentally. Because I figured there was no way you would not have told him. You tell him everything. But then I thought, maybe you didn’t because you felt something?” His eyes rapidly search hers. Liv’s blue eyes widen nervously.

“Ryder, I haven’t been able to talk to Luca yet.” She shakes her head. “I’ve been trying to tell him, but we haven’t been able to have a phone or in person conversation. That’s it.” She can see him collapse inward at the truth.

“Livy…” Obvious emotion clouds his eyes. “I can’t. I can’t do this. I can’t be friends with you anymore. Not like this.” The words tumble out like he is desperately clawing for relief. “I think I need some space.”

“Ry.”

“No, you don’t have to say anything. You were right, I shouldn’t have ruined this.” He closes his eyes, Adam's apple bobbing hard as he swallows. “But I thought…” He shakes his head. He glances to the left, seeing Luca charging towards them. Ryder is not interested in a second fight, so he backs away, giving Liv an apologetic look as he goes. Liv furrows her eyebrows then turns towards her boyfriend. She can’t read his face, which frustrates her further. Hot turmoil sears against the cavity of her chest as she replays what happened on the ice tonight. 

“Hey, wanna tell me what’s going on?” Liv pauses, pushing her lips for a moment and drawing in a deep breath through her nose.

“Sure, do you have time for me?”

“Oh that’s fucking hilarious.” Luca spits at her. “Do you have time? Might need to go catch up with your little fuck buddy over there.” Liv balks, blinking in shock at his words and tone.

“Excuse me?”

“You heard me. So how was he Livy? Was he so much better than me? Did he make you wetter? Did he stroke you just right with his tongue to wake you up in the morning? Did he make you cum harder?”

“Luca.” Liv snaps, grabbing his wrists to pull him out of his rambling. He turns her hands over, taking control by gripping hers in his tightly, holding her in place.

“Tell me all about it. I’m all ears.” He is seething, shaking even as he tries to keep her still, looking him in the eye.

“Nothing happened!” She insists, feeling panicked. This is not how she wanted him to find out. She wanted it to be a conversation about what happened and why and how they could move forward from this. She has needs he isn’t meeting and as much as Ryder has tried to fill in for him, he isn’t and will never be Luca. 

“Nothing happened but I’m hearing about this in front of 18,000 people while I’m beating the shit out of your most recent lay?”

“Luca, how many times do I have to say this. We did not have sex!”

“Ryder said he stayed over and that he is in love with you. All his fucking teammates are calling you his girl. But sure, I totally believe you. What is happening!” He says incredulously, eyes searching hers. What he is looking for, Liv can’t be sure, but she knows he can see her agony swimming in the blue orbs she got from her father. “Are you in love with him, baby?” The pet name he loves to drawl out to her is short and painful this time. Tears rush into Liv’s water line. 

“No.” 

“Don’t lie to me. Not when the stakes are this high.”

“I haven’t lied to you at all! I’ve been trying to tell you! As per usual, everything else is more important than me!” Luca scoffs, disgusted.

“Nothing is more important than you!” Luca yells, tightening his grasp on her hands again.

“Then why don’t I feel that way!?” Liv screams back at him, losing her cool completely. People look, staring in concern at the couple who grips at each other both lovingly and angrily.

Liv’s cheeks are flaming red, blue eyes wet with tears and hard with distress. He is right here, clutching her hands but Luca, her Luca, seems a million miles way. Her chest rises and falls quickly as she tries to steady herself. She didn’t mean to yell, didn’t want to either, but he wasn’t letting her get a word in. She needed to be heard. Luca slowly straightens back up. One by one, his fingers fall away from her hands.

“Are you saying this is my fault?”

“No.” Liv shakes her head, responding quietly. “I didn’t cheat on you.” She says shakily. “Yes, Ryder came over. Yes, he slept over in the same bed as me. But that is all. We slept. He left in the morning. I called you to try and tell you and I texted you. I didn’t want to tell you over a text. I wanted to have a conversation, but so many other things have come up with our schedules. So now you found out this way and I’m sorry about that, but you have some part in that too.”

Luca grins, a wicked and angry curl to his upper lip. 

“Okay, I’ll be sure to make myself more available next time you want to tell me you’re fucking someone else on the side.” Liv closes her eyes, wincing at the judgmental and accusatory tone of his words.

“Nothing happened.” She reiterates to him.

“Bullshit, Livy. Bullshit nothing happened!” He snaps. “Why did you ask him to stay!?” 

How could she tell him why? How could she tell him that the loneliness and unworthiness had created a gaping hole in her chest and she wasn’t sure how she could survive the night alone? How could she tell him about all the ways that Ryder shows up for her when Luca isn’t? How could she tell him how much he is falling short when they’re supposed to be forever? She’s never done this before, but as much as this is all breaking his heart, she thinks these next words might hurt more.

“Because he cared enough about me to show up. And I haven’t been getting that from you.” 

“Wow.” Luca steps back, shoving his hands into his pocket. He looks over Liv’s shoulder, jaw becoming cemented together as he considers. “Maybe Ryder isn’t the only one to catch feelings here.” Luca accuses.

No matter how hard Liv tries not to, she can’t help but look away at such a pointed statement.

The pause between them is long. Too long for Luca to believe her when she gently shakes her head no. Her blue eyes return to his. Luca curls his hands up into fists, looking completely blindsided by this entire interaction. His chest heaves like he is still battling on the ice. Liv feels like a truck went straight through her body, destroying everything inside of her before it continues on like the rest of the world around them.

“Fiala!” A member of the Wild organization calls out. “Bus is leaving in 5!” The team is flying back to Minnesota and has a short turn around to make their flight before their pilots time out for the evening. He can’t stay any longer.

Tears fill Liv’s eyes as she scrambles for the right words to say in her brain. The wheels spin and spin and spin like a hamster on a wheel but all she comes up with is:

“I’m sorry. I don’t know what to say.” She pathetically shakes her head and shrugs sullenly.

“Fuck.” Luca yelps. He stands up straight, shifting his weight from foot to foot incredulously. He stares at her, brown eyes filling with sadness as he takes in her face. He bites his lip anxiously then opens his mouth to speak. “I gotta go.” Liv nods like she understands because she does. She always does. 

With nothing more, Luca turns and walks away.

There is no hug and kiss.

There is no “I love you”.

There is no “I’ll call you when I get home.”

All that exists is the staff cleaning up after the game. 

Families from the home team greeting each other. 

And Luca Fiala walking away from her without looking back.

Three days. 72 hours. 4,320 Minutes. 259,200 seconds. 

The exact amount of time it has been since Luca Fiala left New York City on a Delta flight back to Minneapolis. ¾ of that time, Livia Meier has been confined to her bed. She has cried loudly, silently, achingly, and numbly. None of the droplets that rolled down her cheeks alleviated the pain in her heart.

Her cheeks sting from the wetness as fresh ones roll down from her swollen eyes. She lays on her side, staring out at the flakes that fall outside of her window. It was bitterly cold this weekend. Or at least it seems to have been by the frost collecting on the window. Liv wouldn’t really know. She hasn’t left her apartment since she went to the game. Her phone lights up, showing the notification she got from Luca a half hour ago.

I’ll call you when I get back from practice. 

That message is the first she has received from Luca since Wednesday. A simple text with no emotion, no inclination of what is going to happen when they connect virtually. Liv wants to get herself presentable for the call. But gathering the strength to get up and into the shower has felt impossible for the last hour. She knows her time is running out. 

Under the harsh, hot spray of the shower head, Liv allows the water to consume her face. She scrubs at her irritated skin with a gentle face wash. As she does the basic steps of bathing, she continues to stop and let the water roll over her skin, seeking relief. New tears join the fresh water. Liv gives up, turning the shower off and getting out. She goes through her routine robotically, moisturizing and detangling, opting to skip the makeup because her skin is already irritated enough.

She forces herself to eat a granola bar and drink a cup of coffee while waiting for his call to come through. She is on her second, apathetic bite of food when the FaceTime ring disturbs her apartment. Her reflection morphs with the picture of them this past summer in Switzerland after brunch with her parents. They look so happy; a stark contrast from her current situation.

“Hi.” Livy answers.

“Hey.” He responds. His face has an angry set to it.  “Did Ryder just leave?” He snips at her arms crossed over his chest tightly. He looks huge. Liv thought that at the game too. It’s clear he has spending a lot of time in the weight room this season, getting his body to where it needs to be. Normally, she would be drooling over it. Now it just makes her sad she doesn’t have those arms around her, protecting her from all of this.

“Okay, we got that out of the way. Do you feel better?” She asks, irritation making her eye twitch three times before she presses her finger to stop it.

“No.” He shrugs his big shoulders. Liv sighs. She really doesn’t want to fight. She wants to talk to him and find a path forward.

“I understand that you are angry and you want to make this about Ryder. But this isn’t about him. It’s about us and all the ways that we are not working right now. He is a symptom of the problem.” 

“What’s not working? On my end, everything has been fine.”

“That’s also part of the problem, Luca. I’m over here drowning and you think everything is fine. I feel like, everything in your life is so much more important than me. Like we barely talk now when you’re on the road. You go hours without answering my texts. You don’t call when you say you will anymore. I have been feeling so lost and unimportant.” Luca runs a hand over his days old stubble. He contemplates before responding.

“I appreciate you sharing with me how you were feeling, but the time to do that was before you invited someone else into your bed with you. I can’t get over that right now. Nor can I look past the fact that you didn’t tell me; he did.” Liv gasps, shaking her head furiously.

“That’s not fair, I tried to call you that night and several times the next day. Things came up and suddenly you’re hearing about it from Ryder. This isn’t just on me.” Luca rolls his eyes.

“Liv, take some accountability here.”

“I am! It shouldn’t have happened in the first place, I acknowledge that. It was inappropriate. But don’t sit there and act like I didn't try to make this right. You didn’t have time for me. You were with the team and at practice and at a concert and I was supposed to what, Luca? Fucking text you? And pray for an answer?” She can feel herself losing the battle to not cry. She takes in a deep breath, looking up to collect her tears on her finger tips before they fall down her cheeks. “I apologize for how this happened. I apologize for being inappropriate and crossing boundaries with a friend. That is not okay. I own that. But that is all he is to me. A friend.” 

Luca visibly relaxes after that, nodding his head. He uncrosses his arms, leaning back more towards the camera like he is ready to engage in the conversation. 

“I’m sorry for Wednesday night. I was really upset and reacted poorly. I said some crude and mean statements to you. I’m sorry for that. That type of behavior isn’t okay and it won’t happen again.” Liv nods. 

“I appreciate your apology.” She says genuinely. 

“I’m sorry I didn’t make time for you.” He whispers, getting soft and vulnerable with her. “A lot of things feel not… normal right now, including my position with the team. But I thought we were fine, so it was easy to brush you off because…” He trails off, shaking his head. “I thought you’d be okay with it.” He looks her over. “I can see now that it isn’t okay and I’ll do better at making an effort. You deserve that, babe.”

Liv feels the knot in her throat grow. From hearing that he willingly pushed her aside. From the realization that he has done this in the past and she’s allowed it. From the negative ways it effects her and how she has responded so poorly this time. She feels ashamed for all the previous instances she has allowed this behavior that brought them here, where it now feels like a mountain to climb instead of a bump in the road.

“That’s really hard to hear.” She says, trying to clear her throat so she speaks clearly. “Like I felt that way, but hearing you say that sucks.”

“I know. I’m sorry.” Luca looks at her regretfully through the phone. “So where do we go from here?”

As much as she wants to, Livy knows she can’t forget about what has transpired in the last few weeks. She can’t go back to pretending that her and Luca are perfect. That there has been no tension or no underlying issues that lead to what happened with Ryder. Partly because it’s burned into her brain, but also because if they still have a chance at the future they have been dreaming of, it can’t be on the foundation of this unsteady ground. Her eyes tear up again, knowing what she has to do.

“I think we should take some time apart.” She responds sadly, keeping her eyes on the counter. Heavy silence takes over the line. When she gathers the courage to look at Luca, she can see the tears in his eyes. His hand is over his mouth, pointer finger slightly pushing his nose up. When his tears fall, he pushes his hat off his head and runs a hand through his hair. He looks to his right, towards the window Liv knows looks out at the city. She swallows hard, wanting to say more but not trusting herself to speak clearly.

“That’s what you think is best?” She nods, tears falling down her cheeks, dripping onto her t-shirt. Her chin wobbles hard which makes Luca sigh heavier, clearly upset by her reaction. “Livy, I never meant to make you feel that way, baby. I’m so sorry.” He starts so say. “I don’t want to lose you. I love you so much.” His voice cracks when he says he loves her.

“I don’t see how we can keep going like this, babe.” She cries. “I can’t. I’m also really hurt and maybe you don’t think I get to be, but I am. I’m not happy with how things are and I-I need some time to figure out what I need in a relationship. I feel like this is how I can be accountable to myself and to you.” Luca drops his face into his hands. When his shoulders shake, Liv thinks she might fall off the chair from how badly her heart crumbles in the wreckage of what they were.

The hardest part? It’s not that she doesn’t love him. It would be so much easier if she didn’t. But she loves him too much for things to continue this way. For them to fade away into nothing while she tries to figure out who she wants to be and what she needs and how to ask for it.

Liv’s tears begin to fall faster. They cry together on the phone, sobbing to each other how much they love one another. 

They’re shredding apart at the seams. 

But Liv feels more loved by Luca in this moment, as he gives her the space to be free, than she has in the previous six months of their relationship.

Maybe that’s a sign she should be running faster and farther from him than she is. 

Instead, Livy feels like they’re more meant to be than she’s ever believed before.

I think it's the not knowing when part 2 is that is really making ppl flip out, because even if you're pretty sure they'll get a show (which I am), having to wait until an unknown date to find out whether or not that's the case is just twisting the knife! They should at least have ended part 1 with a date for part 2 - are we talking before the end of the year?? Halfway through 2024??

I actually would really rather not get a S2 of OF just because I think they've towed the line pretty well tween hot mess and realistic/complex dynamics and I don't trust they could keep that up for another season without it descending into pure melodrama, with a Boeing equivalent introduced every other ep just to stir things up. Maybe it's my pessimism speaking re. how Boeing/Sand/Ray will play out, but S2s have a habit of destroying their established relationships, often through lazy writing and tired tropes, and personally I feel I've already seen Sand/Ray be destroyed - both as individuals and a couple - enough to last me a lifetime! So unless it's a drama-free, chilled out season of healing, therapy and the odd music festival, I don't want it! My nerves have enjoyed the ride up til now but they can't handle any more!

If I’m not mistaken the announcers mentioned something at the end about how whether a series is announced during P1 or P2 doesn’t necessarily indicate if it will be coming out in the first half of 2024 or the second half (granted, the Eng subs were pretty barren for most of the show so I might be wrong about this). If this is the case, then I’d suspect they will have P2 before the end of the year. My guess would be sometime in December.

OF season 2 is definitely a slippery slope, and while I think it’s a possibility, I don’t think it’s super likely based on GMMTV’s record and what the cast/crew has already said. You’re right that season 2s often stir up unnecessary drama and can ruin existing ships because of it; I would hate if that was the case here.

…I just need to know what that First/Khao/Jojo clip was about where First had the tattoo on his arm. OF or something else? I want FK to work with Jojo again if possible because I think OF has proven that they work really well together.

More than anything, I need the guarantee that FK will have their own series next year. I’m confident we’ll get one, but I need to see the proof with my own eyes. I NEED ASSURANCES!!

Welp. Okay I watched the last episode of ofmd.

To sum up my thoughts on this season I will say that whilst I enjoyed it and felt the love and passion and respect for its queer fanbase throughout, it didnt hit me the same way the first season did. It felt like maybe a little bit of that season 1 magic was missing and for that I very much blame Max's cutting off 2 episodes and slashing the budget. They had a lot of story they wanted to tell that would have worked so much better in 10 episodes.

I consider the last 3 episodes of season 1 some of the best TV I have seen in my life. From the use of The Chain in ep 8, through the dramatic highs and lows of eps 9 and 10 it was edge-of-your-seat drama and I was in awe at the creators that put it together. But one of the reasons why those 3 eps were so good is because the drama and the pivotal moments were given time to breath.

If those 3 eps were given the same lack of time and budget as season 2, no doubt they all would have been crammed into 1 episode and it would not have had the same impact.

If anything that last episode should have played out across two, with Izzy's death being the half way point and cliffhanger ending leading to a final battle and somewhat happy resolution.

I'm not mad at Izzy's death. If anyone was gonna die, it was gonna be him. His status as Blackbeards enabler and sometimes mentor is over. For Ed to truly be free, I think Izzy always had to go. From a storytelling perspective it makes perfect sense, even though I am sure a lot of fans are absolutely heartbroken about it.

Another casualty of the reduced screentime meant certain original cast members weren't given anywhere near the amount of screentime they should have had. I was expecting a lot more focus on Jim as they were basically the third lead of s1 due to them getting the same backstory as Ed and Stede. All of the crew appear to have had drastically reduced parts which does feel like a big loss to me.

Its funny actually, OFMD S2 suffered from the opposite problem to GOS2. OFMD had too much story to tell in a limited timeframe, GOS2 had very little story to tell outside of the flashbacks and probably too much time given to it. Both shows season 2s suffered from tremendously bad pacing issues.

Also, the one thing the final episode made so obvious to me, is the uncertainty of getting a s3 renewal. It is so clear in the way they tried to wrap things up in a happy bow as best they could, so that if they do get cancelled it leaves fans at least somewhat satisfied. I hate this though. I hate that studios are so fickle and ruthless that creators have to gamble with good quality writing and avoid cliffhangers because of asshole executives who dont actually care about the stories.

Because of the fast pacing, and the fear of cancellation, it felt more like a rush happy ending instead of a part way point in a bigger story, with important character development still to come. Perhaps I need more time to absorb the story in a full rewatch, but im not exactly itching for more at this point, whilst also not really being satisfied with what I got either. I wish we had left Ed and Stede in at least some minor peril, like have them captured and threatened with hanging but at least in a good place romantically, so that we can start speculating about what kind of escape plan they will come up with in season 3. Leaving them in a dilapidated old inn somewhere just felt wrong to me. Instead of ending the season with the stakes sky high (like season 1) it feels like they left season 2 with zero stakes at all, instead of at least a happy medium. At this point we should be turning to fanfiction and wondering what happens next, but instead I'm left thinking "okay then. That was good. What can I watch next?" I don't need to bury myself in fanfic and fanart to feed the hyperfixation this time around, and that is where I feel the most loss.

I'm sure others will have hugely different reactions to me though. Perhaps my expectations were too high? Perhaps my GO obsession just isn't leaving room for OFMD this time? But then again, I think if GOS2 hadn't ended the way it did, I wouldn't still be so obsessed with that either.

Sigh. I dunno. It was a good fun show and will no doubt still be hugely popular with devoted fans, but for me I just can't say it cast the same spell over me as it did last year.

They'd received word that the Glaive were coming back from their most recent raid with sensitive and important information, and so Cor had gone out to meet them personally, to help provide escort back from the forward bases into more secure territory. (Where Angels Fear to Tread, FFXV, Pre-CorNyx)

Pelna froze, like the reveal of that secret made him more exposed somehow. (Chapter 2 of Hide and Sneak, FFXV, Gen. If we're going with the first line of the fic itself, it was "Pelna loved figuring out secrets.")

Luche was so ready for today to be over. (All Through the Night, FFXV, Gen)

It was a long trip from where she was back to Insomnia; even having taken a few detours to throw off any Niff spies – ha! and hadn’t that worked out so well – Crowe had already been an hour or two's drive outside the wall by the time of the ambush, and now she was going to be making that journey on foot. (Chapter 2 of Shifting Sand, FFXV, Gen. Original first line was: "Crowe took a deep breath to steady herself before she put on her helmet.")

“C’mon, it’s tradition!” Tredd coaxed, trying to suppress the grin trying to split his face, or at least tame it to less suspicious levels. (Tredditions, FFXV, Gen)

The slog through the sewer wasn’t fun, for many many reasons. (Chapter 2 of Delta Blues, FFXV, will be CorNyx when Cor shows up. Original first line is "Nyx did his best to keep himself concealed as he surveyed the square where they were supposed to meet up with the Captain.")

It was never supposed to become a thing. (Chapter 2 of Call and Response, FFXV, Gen. Original first line is "Axis, as a rule, hated talking with the other glaives.")

Well, other than noticing I wrote a lot of chapter 2s for Legends at the end of last year, I'm not sure what patterns I had? At first I thought it was gonna be the pretty obvious point that I'm just way too wordy, but some of them were concise!

Maybe that I just like starting the fic with the PoV character's name.

(I have been agonizing over this for literally a month so I have decided to just post it how it is because I'm never going to be satisfied with it anyways.)

Port Mafia executive, former leader of The Sheep, one half of the fearsome Double Black, loyal to a fault, wants a puppy. Gotta love this dude. I'm always excited to do any meta on him because there's so much to his character. Now, much of the fanon interpretation of Chuuya differs from my perception of canon, so if you're a bit surprised by any of the rankings, read on to find out why!

Please do keep in mind: a lot of the info we have for Chuuya does not come from the main manga but from his backstory novels Fifteen and Stormbringer. While these two books have made him an incredibly fleshed-out character, we don't have much info on him at 22 years old except in brief scenes in the manga, omake, and official non-canon content like wan, mayoi and some character q&as. The good thing is that HEXACO traits tend to be relatively consistent over time (and Chuuya himself doesn't seem to have changed too much) so I don't think this will be a major issue.

*Note: I tend to be reluctant to give extreme scores unless I really can't find much opposing evidence. As such, most of my scores tend to be 2s, 3s, or 4s.

**Note: Since these are scores that require me to pick a clear ranking, it's difficult to be quite as nuanced in my discussions as I prefer to be. These are intended to be general trends and there will likely always be exceptions - if you don't agree, that's fine, and it's probably just due to differences in subjective interpretation. However, if I've referenced something incorrectly, feel free to notify me; just be polite please!

Honesty-Humility (H)

Subtrait 1: Sincerity - A tendency to be genuine in interpersonal relations.

1 = Manipulative and rarely honest.

5 = Honest to a fault and almost never lies.

While Chuuya is capable of trickery, he doesn't do this very often - he's generally a very honest person who says what he means and doesn't beat around the bush. He faces his problems head on, and due to his immensely strong ability, he's likely never needed to do otherwise. Any lies he engages in are from my recollection either someone else's idea (Dazai, Mori) or to buy time (in Stormbringer). Even then, he doesn't really keep up an act for long - think of the confrontation with the ADA in the Guild arc where he pretty much outright states what the Mafia's game is. He's entirely nonchalant about it. He's not the kind of guy you send for subterfuge or deception.

Moreover, I cannot think of a time he used lies to get what he, personally, wanted. He's a very straightforward person. He has a sort of "I am who I am" kind of mentality and this shows in his words and actions.

Having said that, there are certain times he seems to blindside himself - as an example, the nature of his complicated dynamic with Dazai. While his irritation with him and negative feelings are genuine in part, there's a lot more nuance to it than that - worry, trust, begrudging understanding, unfortunate and unwilling recognition of self through the other, etc., but he boils it down to "hate". So, Chuuya does occasionally appear to tell himself convenient partial truths to avoid digging into things that make him uncomfortable. However, this honesty scale is about interpersonal honesty, and these instances are rare to my recollection, so he gets a very high score here.

Score = 5

Subtrait 2: Fairness - A tendency to avoid fraud and corruption for personal gain.

1 = Willing to cheat and steal to get what they want.

5 = Unwilling to take advantage of others.

This is tricky... he's in the mafia which is kind of all about this sort of thing, and he performs his job very well. Even so, Chuuya actually seems to have a pretty ingrained sense of fairness, to the point where I don't think it's really a conscious thing. He advances through the ranks of the mafia rapidly by... doing his job properly. He trades honesty for honesty, answers for answers, even in the middle of a fight - see his interactions with Rimbaud for more of what I mean. He repays people's favours and has a strong sense of loyalty and responsibility. Brushing off an ally's death as a means to get ahead is repulsive to him (DHC Dead Apple prologue). He outright tells a GSS soldier in Fifteen what's going to happen to him if he shoots at Chuuya. He does what he says he will, for the most part (unless this has to do with retribution, in which sometimes, rarely, exceptions will be made... I'll bring this up again later). Again, this is probably not mere kindness but also a result of his powerful ability meaning he's never really needed to rely on unscrupulous methods. Nonetheless, for what we see of him, I can't think of a time where he screws others over outside of orders from Mori - much less for his own benefit.

(A case could be made for a drop to 4 if you include his willingness to engage in mafia activities at all. I, personally, wouldn't since being a part of an illegal organization is literally all he's ever known from age 7 onwards. That's not really a character choice imo and more to do with the context he was raised in that became his "normal".)

Score = 5

Subtrait 3: Greed Avoidance - A tendency to be uninterested in possessing lavish wealth, luxury goods and signs of status.

1 = Want to enjoy and display wealth and status.

5 = Hardly driven by material gain.

Again, kind of tricky. Chuuya's introduced in quite possibly one of the most ostentatious outfits of the series (definitely up until that point, at least). He has his expensive wine collection and I think it is implied he has some expensive tastes. I think of that bit in Wan where he says he'll drop any money if he likes the thing he's looking to buy enough. Thing is... we get a little bit in Stormbringer where Chuuya's place is near totally empty; devoid of signs of having been "lived in" and tells us that money and status don't mean much to him. Mind you, this was when he was 16 and things likely changed since then; he's no longer only driven by his goal of finding info on himself and has acclimated to his new home in a sense. Truthfully, though, we don't know all that much about 22-year-old Chuuya. From my interpretation, I think his enjoyment of fancy things like wine and nice clothes is less a drive or motive to acquire any of these things, and more that he gets them as a bonus. He grew up on the streets. He has money now; he might as well use it to get himself something nice. Honestly, I swayed back and forth on this subtrait the most... but eventually settled on a score of 2 (that wine collection is... pretty damn expensive). I think he likes to treat himself. (I am now thinking of Chuuya's excitement over his new pillow in Wan...)

(I'd actually say Chuuya's focus on his appearance has a lot more to do with the image he hopes to give off to others than any true interest in material gain, but more on that later.)

Score: 2

Subtrait 4: Modesty - A tendency to be modest and unassuming (note that this has nothing to do with self-confidence!).

1 = Consider themselves superior and entitled to special treatment.

5 = Consider themselves ordinary people with no claim to special treatment.

Ohhhkay, this is a really weird one. Chuuya is so not modest. He knows damn well how powerful he is and is not afraid to flaunt his ability and martial arts prowess. He's cocky, arrogant and completely self-assured in a fight. However... he also has this weird humility where everything he does is in service to his people. He doesn't ask for special treatment, in fact, it may even make him uncomfortable, at least in Fifteen (dislike of being called "king") and Stormbringer (balking at Adam's "Chuuya-sama" addressal and trying to get him to change it). He goes by first name basis with most everyone and while he expects respect from his subordinates, he's not above spending time with them and doesn't treat people as beneath him unless they're his enemies. From Stormbringer, we know that Chuuya being so much more powerful actually isolates and upsets him. He also rarely takes a lot of credit for things; I think about his reaction in the ending scene in Dead Apple where he brushes off praise from his boss for fighting the dragon, saying he was just doing his job. Most anything he does is brushed off in a similar manner. It's just what he does; it's his duty - what he thinks he should do for his people. See? Weird humility.

I can't rank him too low or too high on this trait - this is one subscale where Chuuya's contradictory nature starts to show, I think.

There's not much to say about this. This guy goes through so much pain; gets thrown into buildings, shocked, stabbed and just gets back up. He jumps out of a plane to fight a dragon with zero hesitation. He feels bored in most fights and itches for a real challenge. He's near completely fearless lmao.

Subtrait 2: Anxiety - A tendency to worry over future outcomes.

1 = Feel little stress in response to hardship and difficulties.

5 = Tend to become preoccupied even by minor problems.

I believe Chuuya has a rather standard level of anxiety. I just said he's pretty much fearless, which he is, but he can and does worry, else he would not show concern for others in the way that he does. I think about his clear worry for the captured Sheep members in Fifteen, or him trying to contact Dazai in Stormbringer, or the way his concern over the outcome of the Cannibalism virus led to him attacking the ADA even though he knew that's what their mutual enemy wanted. At the same time, he doesn't spend too much time fretting over things if he can help it.

Score = 3

Subtrait 3: Dependence - A tendency to require emotional support from others.

1 = Feel self-assured and able to cope without help or advice.

5 = Crave encouragement and support when sharing difficulties.

While I think Chuuya could benefit from some supportive friends who don't die on him ( :'( ), I don't think he necessarily needs a lot of emotional support. He's pretty used to toughing it out alone and he's good at it. He's very self-reliant. However, he does ask for advice on occasion (from Mori), he does like to be part of a group (though that's more about other people depending on him...) and he's genuinely touched when people do show a want to support him (the Flags, Adam). He's not too good at receiving said support though lol.

He deserves more than he gets imo, but this scale is about whether he needs it or not, and to me, the answer is very rarely. Chuuya can deal with anything, however much or long he needs to. The real question is should he have to?

Subtrait 4: Sentimentality - A tendency to feel strong emotional bonds with others.

1 = Feel little emotion when parting or in reaction to others' concerns.

5 = Feel strong attachment to others and have an empathic sensitivity.

Bonds with others are literally Chuuya's Reason Living. Like, he practically says as much in Stormbringer and loyalty and protectiveness are two of his core character traits. Nearly everything he does is for the people he decides are his family. And even though he tends to lose people time and time again, he still manages to care and value them in spite of it all. The only reason he does not rank a full 5 is because he's hardly empathic or sensitive, but his emotions and loyalties run deep and comprise a good chunk of his identity.

Hm. I wonder about this one. We've already established that Chuuya is very confident but that's mostly in a fight or when asserting his strength. When it comes to social interactions outside of this context, it's clear that he gets very easily self-conscious. Think of Ranpo calling him "fancy-hat" - he reaches up to touch his hat like he's unsure if it's a compliment or an insult. There's Dazai's commenting on his shoes, first happy and then extremely irritated when the other... shoe drops (I'm sorry). Comments on his clothes, stature and anything to do with his history (the latter especially when he was younger) make him defensive and prone to bursts of irritation - he's very confident up until someone says something that makes him self-conscious. This probably has a lot to do with his former insecurities about his inhumanity; while he knows now that he is human, that feeling of otherness isn't just going to go away. Of particular note is Chuuya's dress sense - I made a note of this earlier that it seems he dresses to give off a particular image, namely, his membership to a group and status as their ultimate weapon (he both blends in and strikingly stands out). I'm not the only one who's noticed how he has a lot of outfit changes throughout the series, and how they seem to match whichever group he's a part of at the time - so, to insult the way he dresses seems to be taken as a personal jab to the image he's built up, an image that keeps him secure in his membership with his people (membership we know Chuuya desires from Stormbringer). If simple poking at the surface level of his self-image is enough for him to get so defensive, that doesn't really bode well for his social self-esteem as a whole.

At the same time, Chuuya does possess a lot of self-confidence and a certain level of self-respect. His reaction to Kenji thinking he's cool is definitely unabashed pride. He likely knows and enjoys his respected reputation in the mafia - but again, this is towards his ability and prowess, not necessarily his person. He responds to care for his person often with confusion and, again, defensiveness. I feel like he's about average in social self-esteem honestly, as his reactions tend to be quite polarized. It really depends on the context and what's being judged.

Subtrait 2: Social Boldness - A tendency to be comfortable/confident in social situations.

1 = Tend to feel shy or awkward when speaking to others.

5 = Willing to approach strangers and speak up.

Yeah Chuuya has no issue talking to people. I wouldn't actually call him social (more on that in the next subtrait) but he's clearly anything but shy. Only reason he doesn't rank a 5 is because he approaches people much more on orders or necessity than genuine willingness.

Subtrait 3: Sociability - A tendency to enjoy conversation and social interaction.

1 = Generally prefer solitary activities and rarely seek out conversation.

5 = Enjoy talking, visiting and celebrating with others.

I know there's a tendency to want to pin Chuuya as being a social person from his loudness, stand-out design, and the fact that we do see him drinking with Kajii and Hirotsu outside of work but truthfully? I think there's a lot more reason to think he's not all that sociable. For one, he is extremely guarded in both Fifteen and Stormbringer which makes a lot of sense - Chuuya has always been singled out as the biggest threat in the room, which means in turn that he has no choice but to perceive most people as potential threats in turn. In Fifteen, he really only talks to people out of necessity or in a fight, but he's not hanging out - of course he isn't, none of the people in that novel treated him like a friend. In Stormbringer, it takes an age for him to relax around the Flags and even then, he's not exactly the most conversational. Okay, you might be saying, but that's him when he's younger and fresh to the idea of having friends who don't ask him for anything in return.

It's tricky, again, because we really don't have much on older Chuuya. He apparently drinks with Hirotsu and Kajii. However, we don't know if he went there with them, or whether they just all happened to be going to the same place and he started venting to them. In the scene with him, Mori and Kouyou, he brings the wine, and then... he's not even really involved in that conversation, mostly just listening (and later cursing out Dazai under his breath lol). Also, a lot of the supplemental materials - drama cds, character q&as, even in Mayoi - seem to imply that he prefers to spend his time going and doing things by himself. There's also a few interesting continuities in Mayoi (which I know is a little... sus for canon info but like I said, we really don't have much and this next point is actually fairly consistent, leading me to believe this is intended to be an actual characterization point). In a lot of his dialogue and the summaries for some of the special events, he is described as "hanging back a bit". He often seems to choose to enjoy the atmosphere instead of talk to anyone, or else he's watching for threats. He almost always seems to be tense except in two conditions: one, he knows the place and the people are safe, and two, he gets to relax and sit back without speaking much. All this seems to indicate he actually very much enjoys time alone or at least time not spent speaking to people. Even when he's at a louder location, he is far more interested in the alcohol haha.

Score = 2

Subtrait 4: Liveliness - A tendency to be enthusiastic, active and upbeat.

1 = Tend not to feel optimistic or dynamic.

5 = Usually optimists and often in high spirits.

I don't know if I'd call Chuuya an optimist, per se. I think he's actually quite jaded. However, he generally has the attitude that he can get through most things and he gets quite into the action - he loves a good fight, he likes doing stunts on his motorcycle, he feels his feelings very strongly. He's not "a ray of sunshine" hehe but he's definitely dynamic and active - I think he'd get quite bored if he had nothing to do. I'd say he's about average.

Hm. Again, this is another place where Chuuya's contradictory nature seems to show. Chuuya's whole mentality is if you try to hurt him or his people, he tries to hurt you back. It's very deliberate that in Fifteen he often kills by ricocheting bullets back at the people who fired at him. It's very retributive; definitely a "get-even" mentality. He immediately goes on a revenge mission against Verlaine for the Flags' sake. He remains furious at Dazai for years (but that's a constant lmao). However, he also has this strange capacity to... stop feeling that same level of raw anger, and it seems to occur when he comes to understand said person as a human being, especially if he can relate somehow. Also, something that is outright stated in Stormbringer is that Chuuya has the unfortunate tendency to help people who have helped him, even if they wind up betraying him in the end. I don't know if I'd call any of this true forgiveness (I think it ties in more with his ingrained sense of fairness and responsibility) but at the very least, he doesn't seem to hold grudges against people he comes to know for long except Dazai, and even then, he still trusts Dazai implicitly. He doesn't give his trust easily, but by god when he does, it's hard to break. I'm not entirely convinced of this myself, but I gave him a neutral score.

Subtrait 2: Gentleness - A tendency to be lenient in judgements of others.

1 = Tend to be critical when evaluating others.

5 = Reluctant to openly judge others harshly.

...He openly tells opponents they're weak to their faces. He's sooo not gentle and he's only really nice to his allies (and Kenji...but he has very little choice in that matter because Kenji decided they are friends). I think he's the kind of person who's blunt, but not always to be a jerk. Actually, he's fairly attuned to giving advice to people (see: drama cds) but he sure doesn't sugar-coat it. He says what he means. There's also his manner of speaking, which is considered quite vulgar. He's saved from the lowest score because, as I said, he does offer advice and encouragement without much prompting and rarely is he a complete jerk for no reason (unless you're counting bully preschool Chuuya from Wan hahaha). He also seems to have a soft spot for animals, especially dogs. Does that count? I think that counts.

Score = 2

Subtrait 3: Flexibility - A tendency to compromise and cooperate with others.

1 = Stubborn and quick to argue.

5 = Accommodate others' suggestions, even if they may be unreasonable.

I think he's fairly amenable to other ideas actually, but it depends on their source. There's an omake where Kouyou has to call him out because he's indulging Mori and his spontaneous whims too much in their planning. He goes along with the dumb shenanigans the Flags and his subordinates get into, with some griping, but it's clear he doesn't really mind. He's a lot more resistant to Dazai, of course, but again, he will go along with most things in the end because he knows that Dazai's plans do not fail. Still, he rarely just takes other's ideas without putting up a little bit of resistance first (unless it's a direct order), and he doesn't seem to work with others except Dazai (and he does not cooperate with him in any way approaching an agreeable manner, despite being completely in sync). I put him as neutral. He seems to need to see the sense in most things or else see some benefit to others (which might just be said others' enjoyment... the rich girl scene anyone?) before he'll actually do something that wasn't his idea.

Score = 3

Subtrait 4: Patience - A tendency to remain calm rather than become angry.

1 = Tend to lose their temper quickly.

5 = Have a high threshold for expressing anger.

...Lmao. I'm so sorry, buddy. If something is annoying to Chuuya, he will react (it might not be a dramatic reaction but it still manifests as at least visible irritation). He is more than capable of repressing his anger and acting more mature and serious when the situation calls for it but... it really does not take much to rile him up, especially if said annoyance humiliates or embarrasses him in some way. That said, he can and will remain stoic in the face of people who rely on him. Saved from the lowest score by a thread.

Conscientiousness (C)

Subtrait 1: Organization - A tendency to seek order in surroundings.

1 = Tend to be sloppy and haphazard.

5 = Tend to keep things tidy and prefer structure.

There's not much in the series that really indicates what Chuuya is like in his own space. The closest we get is in Stormbringer, where he has very few belongings - but these are stated to be kept very neatly. He appears to spend a good deal of time making himself presentable and it makes sense that this would extend to the space around him as well. Chuuya is likely to be a pretty organized person - he's seen going over a list in an omake and planning out a schedule, and he's good at staying on task - honestly a rarity with characters in this series. While I wouldn't expect him to be quite as fastidious as, say, Kunikida, the little evidence we have seems to indicate he keeps things pretty organized.

Score = 4

Subtrait 2: Diligence - A tendency to work hard.

1 = Have little self-discipline and are not strongly achievement motivated.

5 = Have a strong work ethic and are willing to exert themselves.

Um, yeah, absolutely he's high in this trait. He considers protection of his people his duty and responsibility - it's of prime importance to him and he shoulders a lot of blame should he fail. He brushes off absurd feats such as facing off against Guivre in Stormbringer and fighting the dragon in Dead Apple with a view that can essentially be boiled down to "it's what I'm supposed to do". He clearly expects 100% from himself. He's very diligent. It's a product of his loyalty crossed with his "I can handle anything" mentality.

Score = 5

Subtrait 3: Perfectionism - A tendency to be thorough and concerned with details.

1 = Tolerate some errors and tend to neglect details.

5 = Check carefully for mistakes and improvements.

Tying in with the above, there's not a lot of conclusive examples I can point to, but as he expects full effort from himself and isn't really tolerant of his own failure, I would say this trait is high by necessity. The suits he keeps in Stormbringer are also kept spotless. I can't give a 5, because I don't think he's a perfectionist, per se, but he does rise to meet challenges and that necessitates improvement. He's the best martial artist in the Port Mafia for a reason.

Score = 4

Subtrait 4: Prudence - A tendency to deliberate carefully and inhibit impulses.

1 = Act on impulse and tend not to consider consequences.

5 = Consider options carefully and tend to be cautious/self-controlled.

...ok. So, he definitely prefers to jump into things headfirst. He solves many of his problems with actions and generally more violent ones. However - he can and does look at situations in a much more nuanced way than people give him credit for. He knows how to negotiate, for one - that's part of what Kouyou trained him on in the first place. For another, even when he does rush into a fight, the Dead Apple novelization has this brilliant passage where you see that he's incredibly observant in the midst of the action - and really, he'd have to be. Gravity manipulation is not telekinesis - there's a lot more to consider in terms of force and resistance than just "pick up/throw object". To be noted though is that much of this quick thought happens within a situation - he's adaptable in the moment but he's not really a pre-planner. His way of dealing with things kind of necessitates him jumping into a situation and working through things as they come. So, his score would still be low here, but not the lowest.

Openness (O)

Subtrait 1: Aesthetic Appreciation - A tendency to find enjoyment in beauty found in art and nature.

1 = Not overly interested in works of art or natural wonder.

5 = Have a strong appreciation for various art forms and nature.

I'll be honest, there's not a lot of instances in canon to support or refute this subtrait. We do know that he likes nice clothes and hats though, so that supports some level of aesthetic appreciation. He also is shown humming in the manga, and one of his likes on his character profile is music. In other official material, such as character interviews, he seems to enjoy going for drives to look at the sunrise or sunset from a nice view or enjoying fresh snow falling from the sky. A few of his Mayoi quotes also support this, as he seems to enjoy the ambiance of wind chimes and festivities from a distance - though in one of them he sounds a bit like a tsundere ("the hydrangeas make for an exquisite sight... I suppose") lol.

So, while there isn't a lot, I think there's decent support for a high score here. I can't really see him at an art gallery per se, but he definitely has an aesthetic sense and likely an appreciation for natural beauty as well.

Subtrait 2: Inquisitiveness - A tendency to seek information about and experience the world.

1 = Have little curiosity and are content with what they know.

5 = Seek out new information constantly and love new experiences.

I'm not sure there's much evidence here either. I don't think Chuuya is closed-off to learning new things, as he does teach himself new skills and seems to pick things up fairly quickly. I've already commented on how he's pretty adaptable, especially in the moment. However, I don't think he's the type to go beyond and actively seek out new knowledge that isn't directly applicable to what he needs to know. The knowledge we see Chuuya acquire throughout the series is more practical stuff, stuff he can put to use in some way (ex. martial arts skills). His worldview also remains rather limited - he has only ever known life as an important figure in a criminal organization. He has literally known nothing else. And he doesn't seem to mind this so much; I suspect because, as Stormbringer tells us, he doesn't feel particularly deserving of examining anything different. There's also the matter of his intense loyalty to his people, which means that he has little incentive to look elsewhere. At the same time, he certainly likes to experience things in a more literal sense - he tries different wines, wears different outfits, and is incredibly engaged in action. I'll give him a average score.

Subtrait 3: Creativity - A tendency to innovate and experiment.

1 = Tend to stick to familiar patterns and methods with little change.

5 = Actively seek new solutions to problems and tend to self-express.

Chuuya, I would say, is a lot more straightforward than he is innovative. While, as I've mentioned multiple times by now, he adapts quickly in a fight, his go-to is still... to fight. He deals with things very much head-on, and again, he's not really a pre-planner. In the moment, however, he's incredible at reading a situation and responding near instantly to new threats. As for self-expression, I'd venture to say that Chuuya's actually pretty repressed. He has a distinctive style and set of likes and dislikes, but he often seems to understate his excitement or interest in things - see the tsundere-ish comment above or really just look at how he tries to appear cooler and more put-together than he is in like... anything he shows up in. Dude is repressed, seriously. The only time we see him unabashedly enjoying himself is in high-adrenaline situations like fights - at the very least, in Fifteen, Dazai describes him as being somewhat "kid-ish" when he gets really into things. (You are one to talk, Dazai.)

I'll put him at a neutral score since I can't find too much supporting evidence either way.

1 = Avoid eccentric and non-conforming persons.

5 = Receptive to ideas that might seem strange or radical.

...you know, writing all this out, and as unusually powerful and contradictory as Chuuya is... he's kind of. The normal one. At least in comparison to a lot of the company he keeps. He tends to be the voice of reason or at least keeps somewhat of a level head in the drama cds which will never stop being amusing to me. Part of the reason he's good at this though is that he's really very accepting and kind of indifferent towards people's eccentricities, especially if he's known them for a while. He barely bats an eye at Kajii's maniacal experimentation, accommodates Mori's weirdness without so much as a reaction, and while he finds Adam incredibly strange (valid lmao) he seems to start to enjoy that after a time. He seems pretty willing to accept just about anyone's quirks the more he spends time around them and gets used to them.

When around Dazai in particular, he reveals himself to... also be very, very strange. The comparatively "normal guy" is quickly replaced with someone just as incredibly unhinged as Dazai himself. Argue however you like whether they make each other better or worse but they certainly do make each other weirder.

I wonder if being surrounded by so many odd people makes him feel slightly less odd by comparison. Something to consider.

At the same time, he's a little too grounded and practical to be given a full score of 5, so a 4 he is.

Types 5, 2 and 9

Hello, it's me, your favourite mess. So I'm a type 5 on the enneagram and it took me forever to figure that out. But the weird part about that is that I thought I was type 2. So here's my little rant about the similarities between types 2 & 5 and how type 9 comes into the mix.

Type 5s (especially social 5s) have a need to be needed, similarly to type 2s. A type 2 wants to be needed because it proves that they have value and are loved. A type 2 wants themself to be needed, not their abilities.

On the other hand, type 5s want their abilities to be needed, usually their knowledge. When people want their knowledge, it is solid evidence that they have knowledge in the first place. This is important because they tie their knowledge to their self-worth.

An easy way to tell the difference between these two needs is how they feel about being used. Type 2s hate being used because it proves to them that they aren't valuable, only their actions and that nobody really cares about them. 2s like to be in control. 5s are very different in this aspect. The concept of being used tells them that they have enough value to be used in the first place. Now a healthy 5 obviously doesn't want to be used, they want to be useful, but an unhealthy 5 would gladly accept being used.

NOTES: Part 2 to Depths of Disparity. I don’t usually do part 2s for my oneshots but this seemed interesting enough to write. I probably won’t write a part 3 though. Same situation as before, Yuutsu does not belong to me and these characters are probably a bit out-of-character but oh well. Also I didn’t know whether Yuutsu is supposed to be a Hashira but in this, she’s not written as one. Sorry if she was supposed to be–

SUMMARY: Yuutsu, a gentle and sweet looking girl. But not even she would stand idly when someone insulted the one she loved. Even if that someone was the second strongest of the Demon Slayer Corp.

Sanemi Shinazugawa; the Wind Hashira was a man of excellent skill and strength but poor temper. He was quick to think the worst of others and his fellow Hashira were no exception, especially the Water Hashira, Giyuu Tomioka. It had slowly become routine by this point. Shinazugawa hated how quiet Tomioka was, and how he rarely interacted with others. He often antagonized the man, calling him arrogant and accusing him of having a superiority complex… All because Tomioka claimed to be ‘different’ from the other Hashira. A poor temper, indeed. 

It was something that Tomioka tried to ignore. After all, it was completely useless to argue with someone who had already made up their mind about something. And, a part of Tomioka believed it was better if Sanemi hated him as much as he acted. But it would seem today was no different. 

Ubuyashiki-sama had decided to send both Tomioka and Shinazugawa out on a mission. A disaster waiting to happen, really. Shinazugawa was less than pleased to be informed that out of all the Hashira to be sent on a mission with, it was with Tomioka. “Ugh, this is awful…” the Wind Hashira groaned as they stood outside Headquarters. Tomioka stood awkwardly off to the side, choosing to stay silent. But that didn’t stop Shinazugawa from directing his anger towards him. “I mean, seriously? I have to be sent on a mission with you of all people?” 

“It’s disrespectful, that’s what it is. And–” Shinazugawa continued on, ranting and raving about how much he didn’t want to do this. But Tomioka slowly tuned him out, having noticed Yuutsu off in the distance. She was walking along the path with her umbrella in hand, seemingly to enjoy the scenery. Everything around Tomioka seemed to freeze as he watched her, completely entranced by her and her alone. But the daydream didn’t last long. 

Tomioka was roughly dragged from it; Shinazugawa had grabbed onto the collar of his uniform as he glared at him, “Are you even fucking listening to me?! What’s got you so distracted– oh,” Shinazugawa looked over his shoulder and spotted Yuutsu. “Her? You’re actually into that dumb and naive girl? Pfft– she may be stupid, Tomioka, but she’d never love a pathetic and arrogant ass like you. Get that into your thick skull.” 

An awkward silence filtered into the air. Tomioka said nothing. What could he say? He could argue that Yuutsu wasn’t stupid, that she wasn’t dumb or naive. …But everything else Shinazugawa had said was true, wasn’t it? “Hey! Do you really have nothing to say for yourself?! You–” “Shinazugawa-san, I suggest you take your hand off him.” Both men blinked in surprise; neither had even noticed Yuutsu approaching them. But there she stood, staring at Shinazugawa expectantly. Tomioka had never noticed how… little emotion her eyes carried. 

“And? It’s none of your business. It’s a matter between Hashira, so scram.” Shinazugawa glared at her, but she didn’t falter. Instead, Yuutsu grasped Shinazugawa’s wrist, her grip tightening as she harshly yanked his hand off of Tomioka– a crack sounding subtly yet noticeable by the look of pain on Shinazugawa’s face. Tomioka’s gaze widened– had Yuutsu just broken Shinazugawa’s wrist? 

That’s when he noticed the intense anger in her eyes as she stared down the Wind Hashira, still holding tight to his wrist as her tone lowered– “Call me dumb, stupid, naive, whatever–! But you will not insult the person I love.” Shinazugawa yanked his hand away and held his wrist, “Fuckin’ psycho… Fine! He’s your problem now,” Without waiting for a response, Shinazugawa walked off, leaving Yuutsu and Tomioka. 

Tomioka stood frozen in place. Was he afraid or in awe? He couldn’t tell… The girl he loved so deeply had just defended him but also broke the wrist of the second strongest Hashira, not only that but she had also admitted to loving him, too. The feeling of joy that welled up in his chest– a feeling near-unfamiliar… One he did not deserve to indulge– no, he couldn’t– “I apologize for scaring you, my love, but–” Yuutsu’s gentle voice broke Tomioka from his reverie. She stood before him, umbrella in one hand and the other held out towards him. 

“Please stand under the umbrella, it looks like it’s going to rain.” Tomioka blinked, then looked up at the slowly darkening sky before looking back to Yuutsu. He hesitantly took her hand in his, giving a small smile as he moved to stand beside her. Perhaps… Perhaps indulging just this once would be okay.
