What if Robin had always been in love with Wally?
However, instead of confessing it, he ultimately decided to keep his feelings to himself when he saw how Wally and Artemis looked at each other.
Sure, it hurt to keep it all inside.
But if Wally was happy
Then so was he.

hi! how are you? can I make a request? so ive been imagining in my head how would jason react to reader going to the wayne gala with him? (for being more especific after jason introduce reader to the batfamily reader gets invited by jason's family to go to the wayne gala)
how would the batfamily treat her? how does Jason behave on gala nights?? sorry for so many questions lol
thanks for reading this <3
Tumblr media
y'all are FEEDING THE DEMON inside me. slay
-not proof-read. has punctuation mistakes (probably. maybe.. idk)
Tumblr media
•after a few embarrassing encounters (for jason HAHA) with his family, you were formally invited to have dinner with them. and dinner turned into an invitation to the wayne gala. pretty big, huh?
•at first, you were hesitant... but jason said he wouldn't go without you and you did not want that. so you went with him.
•i mean, it was one thing being with him. but his arm wrapped around you waist while he introduced you to everyone, calling you his, "girlfriend."
•and whenever he called you his girlfriend, he blushed and smiled.
•i mean, usually jason would be one of those "macho, no feelings/emotions need to be shown" kind of men. but when he's with you, it's a whole new genre.
•he's so gentle with you. your dress got stuck? he'll buy you a new one. hungry during the gala? he'll make you sit down and give you a plate filled with food. (his siblings said that he's so chaotic during gala nights... not true.)
•and omg, speaking of his siblings, they are so protective over both of you. if you hurt him, count your days. if he hurt you, that's a different book in general.
•dick is like an older brother, except he is so sweet and genuine. he knows everything about everyone. tim is like the nerdy but really chaotic younger brother. he's super smart, but also on the brink of causing an alien invasion and murdering everyone in the galaxy. but he's just a goofy little boy <3
•steph is such a girl's girl. she's so friendly and sweet. she's an angel, i swear. cassandra cain doesn't talk much. but she isn't untoward or rude to you. she just doesn't talk a lot. but she has said a few nice words to you.
•damien... that little minx is formal. but once you break down his barriers, he is just another child and child soldier. you and him bonded over your love for animals. he even introduced you to alfred the cat.
•now, papa wayne, the man, the myth, the bat. bruce wayne. he was very friendly. holy shit, this man raised amazing children. he deserves the world. he is very sweet to you, always making sure you're comfortable. he's like a dad to you. (i wish he was my dad)
•alfred, the heart of the bat family. he's formal too sometimes. but he's really nice. he's helpful and witty. he knows everything about every member of the bat/wayne family. if you want to see jason in diapers or when he was in an awkward teenage phase, ask him. he has pics of EVERY batfam member.
•let's just say that jason was raised by amazing people. and those same people adore you with everything.
jason is my pookie bear. he's just a big cuddly teddy bear and i love him for that

Hi! I’m the one who asked about Cat Villain! Reader theme lol. It’s nice to have a person to think as same as me, anyway civilians probably confusing about how all 4 Robins so fond of the villain but they still have that kind of rivalry to them, at least in civilians’ views. STILL
I’d like to add another trailer song that I often use when rotting over cat villain! reader
Eula’s theme is such a good one for heists/a little tango with the bois.
I feel like the general public have a general clue as to the relationship of cat villain! reader and the robins
purely because some of the guys (*cough* Jason *cough*) has fucked them in public, and as much as Gotham is unsafe at night, and no matter how many measures the boys put to protect you, there will always be fanatics that’ll witness everything you guys do.
of course, the damning info is mostly kept in small circles due to the miraculous power of ‘paying people to take shit down’ the Waynes have but a lot of fans have headcannoned and could sometimes build an entirely accurate version of your relationships.
tim was definitely one of your top fansite keepers before he became robin (even though it wasn’t his main focus). he most likely influenced a very uh… ‘sasaeng’ type of attitude in your fandom. which wasn’t regulated well until he realized his mistakes. nowadays, he makes sure your fans are more tamed.
sometimes i imagine cat villain! reader to be a celebrity, less known in america and mostly abroad (bonus if you guys aren’t from there to begin with, so your popularity can just be focused on or around your home country) that is until they were suddenly seen with Dick Grayson in public. you two were very much young and not careful.
people know you as that person that dated Dick, and is now extremely close with his brother, Tim. Definitely scandalous. The only thing stopping Damian from being labeled as one of your conquests is that, dude only realized his feelings recently and he usually approaches your civilian form as Robin. why? Damian’s just a show off, but Robin can be a show off without being seen as arrogant. he’s just doing his job
you have your fair share of villain friends you enjoy hanging out/sleeping with. some of them do you favors in exchange for a night. mostly because they know it’ll piss off the Batboys and throw them off their game though it does come with the risk of being beaten down to death.
i also think it’d be funny if in civilian form as a celeb, cat villain! reader just likes to profess their ‘undying love’ to Bruce 24/7 and how he totally slept with them once and their heart has been taken since. just like to be a menace and cause more chaos with people accusing them of using his kids.
when you found out tim protected your image and generally surveyed posts about you 24/7 you got into a little argument cause you wanted the world to breakdown about your identity and the shit you’ve done
and last but not least, the only reason you haven’t been cancelled to non-existence is cause of your large donations to charity and very humble living. sure, you liked to troll the universe in its entirety but in the end cat villain! reader main purpose is to help the needy. you’re most likely one of Bruce’s biggest investors (again, just to be a little shit)
you’re a little shit yeah, but you’re the batfam’s little shit.
OH! and you like visiting Jason’s grave even after he came back. partly due to missing his old self, but it also assists with keeping his identity unknown with how often you guys are together.
bonus: you’ve interacted a fair bit with the batgirls and duke. by that i mean you’ve bullied them all at some point that it has become almost a christening ritual for you to be a menace to each member.

I guess I'm just gonna post all of my daydream scenarios lol. Another batfam one!
tw: feelings of inadequacy, memory loss
So. You wake up, no idea where you are or what's going on. No memories of who you are or your life before this.
The people who call themselves your family try everything to get you to remember, show you around the mansion where you apparently live, showing you different trophies that are everywhere in your (admittedly, very beautiful) room, explaining to you how and when you won them, pointing at pictures hoping you'll remember where they were taken... But, nothing.
They even tell you about the vigilante stuff! They try throwing stuff at you and seeing if your reflexes still work subconsciously (you get hit in the face with a lot of pillows, Damian has to be stopped from throwing knives multiple times). Don't you remember when you solved the Riddlers puzzles with Batman? When you and Nightwing took down Poison Ivy? ...Nothing sounds familiar? You lost your memories after being hit by a weird ray gun from a new villain, they haven't been able to figure out exactly how it works yet...
When none of that works they try stuff that they think might upset you, but it's the only thing left. How you lost your family before being taken in by Bruce and joining your new family, becoming a vigilante to stop other kids from losing their parents in the same way as you. Unsurprisingly, that doesn't ring any bells whatsoever. They show you pictures of your old family, and... you think you remember them? But not dead, not gone, you get flashes of going grocery shopping with them, looking older than they were when they died, apparently? How can that be...? After that, most of your memories return pretty quickly. You don't belong here.
You all figure out together that apparently you didn't just lose your memory, you switched places with the version of you that actually belongs to this universe! It's nice knowing what happened and that they might be able to figure out a way to switch back with their version of you, to get you home, but it also hurts.
Looking more closely at the other-you's life, it's pretty close to everything you've ever dreamed of... Having hobbies you've always wanted to have but never had the time and/or money for (they can play so many instruments, they dance, etc), a close friend group, maybe even a relationship, even their room is decorated exactly how you'd decorate it if you had the space and money! And all of their achievements... Graduated top of the class, got a scholarship to college, trophies for all sorts of sports. Basically everything you could think of, they excelled in.
You start sleeping in one of the guestrooms.
It's awkward, answering the other-you's family's questions about your life. What are your hobbies? Oh, um, nothing much, mostly I just go to work I guess... What's your job? Do you like it? Uhm, well, it's nothing important or groundbreaking or anything, but I guess there's worse ones! I mean, especially considering that I dropped out of university... Ok, well, what about your friends? Family? Friends? Um, I mean I get along with some of my coworkers, but I wouldn't really call them friends... And my family is just a normal family, I guess?
Needless to say, they want their helpful, smart, wonderful family member back. And you get it, they don't know you, you're a stranger to them! But, after they're able to contact the other-you (unable to bring them back yet, but their memories came back as well and they started working on something similar to the Batfam, which makes it so they can at least talk to each other for now), you find out that they're doing better in your life than you ever did. They got a better job or re-enrolled in university, show way more motivation and discipline than you ever did for anything in your life... The worst part is, they couldn't tell your parents that they're not you, they'd never believe them! So your parents are of the opinion that the mysterious accident is the best thing that ever happened to you! Sure, it was rough at first, but look at you now! Finally making something out of yourself, they couldn't be prouder!
So you're just stuck knowing that both families prefer the other-you, the better-you, smart-you, vigilante-you... Sure, maybe your parents would want you back if they knew it wasn't actually you who was achieving all of these things, but still, now you know they really were disappointed in you, that you weren't living up to their expectations...
[The other-you is having a rough time as well, though. Imagine suddenly remembering that the people you've been living with after your accident/memory-loss are dead where you're from, and you can't even tell them that! You missed them so much, but it's been so long they're strangers to you now... You try to get your mind off of it, work hard, etc, but everyone acts like that's so unlike you and doesn't seem like something you would have done before? You don't know them, they don't know you, you missed them so much, you'll have to lose them all over again. The other version of you seems mad at you for changing your life even though you think it's better now than what they had before.]

GOTHAM FILES: SEASON 8
The entire planet of Tamaran is getting ready to welcome the newest member of the royal family as Starfire draws closer and closer to her due date. Consequently, this means that Dick and Star are off-world currently, and the entire BatFam is planning to travel there in about a month for the celebration. In the meantime, however, Bruce has noticed how awfully lonely Damian has been recently. Dick’s been gone for a few months at this point, he’s not exactly the closest of close buddies with the rest of the BatFam, and he doesn’t have any friends at school. (And, up until now he’s been prevented from joining the Teen Titans because he’s not quite 14 yet, and because he has “being in a team” issues.) But then, just his luck, Superman calls saying that there’s been a development with his son, Jonathan. He’s suddenly showing signs of Kryptonian abilities and Clark has had to reveal his secret identity to him. Right now, they need to look him over to check out his physiology and see what’s going on with him. Bruce says to meet at the Watchtower… and he brings Damian with him. Thus, Damian Wayne is introduced to Jonathan Kent. (I should note, Damian is 13 and Jon is 11, though Jon is taller than him and Damian hates it, especially since it leads to people thinking that Jon’s older all the stinkin time, lol.)
After they check up on Jon, discussion turns toward what they’re gonna do next. Jon’s going to need training, not just in how to use his powers, but also in other aspects like combat and stealth. (Jon’s adamant that he really wants to become a superhero just like his dad.) But Clark wants to ease Jon into all of this—he’s still only eleven—and that’s when Bruce says, “What if Jon… potentially… came over from time to time and hung out with Damian? He could show him a few things.”
Clark is surprised. Damian is confused and alarmed. Jon is all for it (right now, anyway).
Damian protests. He says that he has no time to “hang out” right now, he’s very busy! Fighting crime (which he’s very good at and there’s been no major stuff going on lately), studying (this is a lie, he’s practically college-level already), and training to prove that he’s ready to join the Teen Titans when he turns 14. Bruce sighs and pinches the brim of his nose. All that training won’t mean a thing if he can’t learn how to get along with other supers his age. This will be a good opportunity for him. It’s happening whether he likes it or not.
…So their first hangout ends in total disaster. Yeah, Damian doesn’t really know how to have “friends” especially when they’re completely normal and like, oh, I don’t know, playing video games or baseball or riding bikes or rollerblading or playing scrabble. Damian’s idea of a “fun time” is sneaking out in the Batmobile and punching the snot out of Condiment King. So… how would you explain to your dad why you’re covered in ketchup and glass shards when you get home?
There is now a growing resentment. We all know Damian’s personality. It’s very easy to dislike him. For a multitude of reasons. And after the initial starstruck-ness of meeting Robin wears off, Jon’s getting kinda sick of his reckless, arrogant, danger-loving demeanour. And Damian, he gets real sick real quick of Jon’s meeker, kinder, pushovery-er personality. Jon gets mad at Damian for getting them into trouble, but Damian says that it wouldn’t have happened at all if Jon hadn’t gotten in the way! Bruce and Clark break them up before the fighting gets worse, but they still think it would be a good idea for them to learn from each other, and Damian’s not going to be allowed to join the Titans until he can learn to get along with Jon. (Which Damian finds totally unfair.) Cue the Super Sons storyline!
Damian doesn’t have the patience or the desire to do things the way Bruce wants him to, so he devises a plan. If he and Jon can manage to complete a high-level mission and take down a dangerous criminal together, Bruce and Clark would be sure to let up on this nonsense and the two of them would never have to hang out ever again. 🤝 Deal.
So, they go on the dangerous mission, naturally things go haywire, Bruce and Clark have to show up and save them, and they’re not happy.
It takes the boys a few more tries, a few more training courses that their dads came up with, and a whole lot of patience, but eventually they do start to get along, and they do end up completing a real mission together. Finally, Bruce says that Damian, after his 14th birthday, (which is coming up soon), can join the Titans. Right now, though, it’s time to go see Dick and Star.
Princess Markori (Nightstar) Grayson is born! (Mar’i for short.) It’s a happy episode.
We do our standard check up on everyone, and everything’s going pretty well. (Well, things ended up not working out with Bab’s boyfriend, so that’s sad, but other than that, there’s been nothing super horrible lately.) Tim’s feeling a little overwhelmed as he slowly but surely becomes the new, up and coming face of Wayne Enterprises, Jason and Artemis are officially a couple, Cass and Steph have their own apartment in Gotham and team up a lot to fight crime, and BRUCE… he and Selina continue to get closer and closer… she’s been brought around the cave and she’s met most of the BatFam members by now… and Bruce just might have a ring picked out. All the more reason for Damian to be hanging out with Jon instead of being all alone at home, stewing about the situation.
So, Damian’s 14 birthday happens, and he’s officially inaugurated into the Titans… and then, when he notices Jon being kinda left out, Damian proposes that maybe they could bring Jon on as a part-time trainee. Thus bringing Jon along with him as the Ultimate Teen Titans head out on their first mission.
Back in Gotham, it’s time for the next big story arc. Get excited for the Robin Wars! Bruce is gone again on another big Justice League mission, Nightwing’s still on Tamaran, Jason’s doing his own thing, Tim was never the best fighter in the group (he’s more of a detective), and Damian’s away with the Teen Titans. Security in Gotham is at an all-time low right now, and it’s because of this over confidence that the heroes have in this quiet and peace that a new threat has started to emerge. A faceless, nameless evil. It’s taking over Gotham, little by little, egging on gangs like the Jokerz, undoing so much of the work that Bruce and the others have done and causing chaos. We, the audience, don’t find out until the very end, but… it’s the Court of Owls.
Now, we see yet again just how much of an effect Batman has really had the people of Gotham, because not long after all of this starts to happen, there’s pushback. A teenager named Duke Thomas (who happens to be a low-level meta human with light-based powers) just lost his parents to an attack by the Jokerz. They got laughing gassed and are now hospitalised. So he’s getting real fed up with these criminals, and without Batman around, he decides to take matters into his own hands. He doesn’t have much to fight with… so he sends out a rally cry. He creates an app that people can download, giving directions to all willing participants on how to organise and fight back. He calls it, “We Are Robin.” Hundreds of young people join the movement, keeping Gotham safe until Batman gets back, with Duke at the helm, leading them. This gets the attention of one Alfred Pennyworth who pitches in as well, making the whole thing feel a little more official.
But, there’s only so long they can hold out against a professional criminal organization. Sooner or later, Batman and the real Robin need to come back and push this new threat back to the shadows, especially before Duke loses control of the mob he’s incited. But Bruce was impressed. He managed to do a lot on his own. But it was also very dangerous. Duke’s lucky things didn’t go much worse.
Now that that’s over… Duke’s parents are still in the hospital… and there’s currently no known cure for Joker’s laughing gas. So, Bruce agrees to take Duke in until they can find a cure.
Gotham is back in steady hands… though Bruce is eager to figure out who that mysterious group was, manipulating everything.
At the current moment, however… he’s more concerned with proposing to Selina. Which he does. Which shocks the entire BatFam. And the entire Justice League. And Everyone.

Your fic was so good, its like being fed a 5 star meal in the form of a tumblr fanfic 🙏 But imagine theres a soul animal day and you have to bring yours to school, which one would the reader bring LMFAO 😭 And would someone be able to point out the similarities with the Batfam member?
Thank you so much for the compliments!! It really means lots :D
Oh gosh, that sounds rather awful for Reader haha. Luckily, schools can't mandate such a thing, for discrimination reasons. For example, if a student has a delayed soulmate bond (aka they haven't got a soulmate yet), or their soulmate has died, it would be unfair to them as they don't have a soulmate to bring.
It can happen unofficially though, like, let's say a friend group of Readers was all showing off their soulmates. Reader doesn't control what soulmate shows up, but if they had to choose, I think they'd pick Tim or Dick. Dick is a little too affectionate, but with his colours it would be easy for Reader to claim that he isn't a robin. Jason is a little too intimidating to be introducing people to, whereas Tim is a lot calmer and subtle. It's a bit more obvious that he's a robin though, so Reader can't really win. Damian is a little too feral to be introducing to people.
If it was a pre-Jason death era, Reader would either pick Jason or Tim. Since Jason would be a lot less intimidating.
Someone spotting the similarities is Reader's worst nightmare! When Dick was Robin, Reader was free to show off Jason and Tim whenever, as they looked like normal and not green and yellow robins. They could even be mistaken for eachother. Now, Reader just straight up lies to people and pretends that the birds are another species instead of being robins. Reader really tries to not meet anyone twice if they have a different soulmate with them. If Batman is with Reader, Reader just doesn't leave the house lol.
Thank you for your ask! ^ ^

hey in your tags you mentioned a “batfam leverage au” can u explain what that is
Happily! :D
So I'm not sure if you're familiar with the show Leverage, but the quick summary is that it's about a group of "bad guys" (a hacker, a hitter, a grifter, a theif and the mastermind that directs them all) that help people who have been hurt by the rich and powerful by using their skills to pull heists and cons on the bad guy of the episode to ruin them and get back whatever was taken/right whatever was made wrong.
It's an amazing show that I can't recommend enough, very clever, very funny, big found family vibes and an OT3 that's *this close* to being canon (and has been supported by the writers). The heists are amazing and it's all around an AMAZING show.
Anyway, the BatPham Leverage Au is basically just: a collection of DP & BatFam members join together to make a robin hood heist team like in the show Leverage. I have a couple versions of the BatPham Leverage AU rattling around my head, but most fleshed out right now are:
Business of Family - the Uncle Oz AU (Penguin Adopts Jazz & Danny): My plan for this story is for Jazz and Danny to decide to start running heists in Gotham on the people in the city that tend to fly under Batman's radar but who are still very much doing a lot of harm to the city and it's people. The Leverage AU part of this story is going to have Jazz as the Mastermind, Jason as the Hitter, Tim as the Hacker, Danny as the Thief/Maker (basically engineer), and Elle as the Grifter (shapeshifting Elle for the win lol).
Another Leverage AU I've been thinking about for awhile but that I haven't turned into a story yet is one where Team Phantom (Danny, Jazz, Sam, Tucker & Elle) are tasked with finding and returning various Infinite Realm artifacts that have ended up in the mortal world. And for some reason Gotham has just so many Infinite Realm artifacts in it. Like most of the artifacts in the world are in Gotham for some wild reason (it's Gotham there doens't need to be more of a reason).
They're on the run from the GIW/Fentons, so they're trying not to advertise any ghostly/liminal powers if they can help it, so they largely do heists without powers (minus Tucker doing all his hacking and everything from the Ghost Zone and some occasional invisibility/intangibility when it's called for, but they really do try and keep any power use to a minimum).
In this AU, Jazz is the Mastermind (again, because I love that role for her haha), Tucker is the Hacker, but that's when I can't quite decide who should be who.
I love the idea of Sam being a Hitter, but I think she'd be able to play Grifter pretty well knowing the rich as well as she does, Danny would love being a Hitter and being able to fuck some assholes' shit up while being completely feral but he could also still be a good Thief. Elle could go either Grifter again, but I like her as a Theif in this one, maybe running into Damian in the vents while she's trying to get into a vault or something lol. (I think it'd go with Danny: Hitter, Sam: Grifter, Elle: Thief, but I have no idea if that'll stick if/when I ever write this lol)
Whatever the team looks like, because there are so many artifacts in Gotham & because they can't just use their powers willy-nilly to grab them and run, they're going to be in Gotham for a long time, possibly years. Which means they need some kind of side hustle to pay the bills, which leads them to doing more heists, but this time on various rich assholes that deserve to lose a bunch of money.
Eventually they get on the Bats radar, and there'd be some fun cat & mouse back and forth with the BatFam trying to catch the Phantom Crew (Danny shouldn't be allowed to name things, but he already told Red Robin that was their team name before anyone could stop him). Eventually the GIW do show up and things start getting even more complicated (and maybe someone activates an artifact, resulting in a powerful entity being released in Gotham that they all have to team up to fight).
I have no name for this au other than the DP X DC Leverage Au, but I do know that'll have plenty of Anger Management, Brain Dead (or really Brain Dead + Everlasting Trio, don't know what the ship name for that is), Serious Chaos.
It'll also have Batman aggressively trying to adopt them all because he doesn't actually have anything against them stealing from these assholes as long as they don't hurt anyone. They're acting outside of the law yes but they're doing it in order to give justice to those who have been made victims by the system and he's all about that (the real final battle of the story is between Bruce & Selina who both want to adopt the Pham, who would like to know if they get a say in any of this - they don't).

Finally finished Young Justice S2
it was pretty good! Definitely a huge improvement from the first season even if there's a ton of plot holes and problems still, but it's clear that this season really amped the stakes in an interesting way. They took bigger swings, and sometimes that results in bigger misses. Lingering thoughts:
absolutely ludicrous of Nightwing and the other team members who were in on the "Kaldur is being a double agent" plot, to not let M'gann in on that 😭what do you MEAN you're not letting the telepath who has been mind breaking villains casually in on your Kaldur under cover plot? Ridiculous, biggest plot hole ever.
What exactly is the team's stance on M'gann mind breaking bad guys? Obviously Conner hates it, but I remember Bumblebee telling M'gann to "Brain blast him or something" so? Does the team know M'gann does this and are okay with it? Does Conner tell anyone what M'gann did to him? Aayee
lol @ M'gann saying she can only shapeshift into girls/women when she casually turns into men multiple times this season. But even when that concept was introduced they contradicted themselves in that very episode.
There's something,,, uncomfortable about the whole Arsenal plot where he ends up getting kicked out of the team. My memory's a bit foggy since I watched the episodes in chunks but- I thought Nightwing cutting Arsenal off the team was uncalled for? Like sure Arsenal panicked and got everyone captured because of it, but then he essentially single handedly (hah) saved everyone again, leading a rag tag new team to help him save his friends. Sure it was his fault that they got captured in the first place (because he was traumatized from fear of being captured again) but well. If he isn't psychologically fit to be back on the team so soon after being traumatically trapped for so long,,,why is he on the team to begin with? It gets into this uncomfy convo where the Young Justice team just kinda normalizes child soldiers to hop right back into intense crime fighting before they had a chance to recover mentally. Like he more than made up for his mistake in my opinion.
Way too many characters again! Especially by the end of the season. They really should've just focused on the cast surrounding Blue Beetle, Impulse, and Arsenal as new characters because their plots were the center of the conflict really! The Batfam members didn't have a personality and felt superfluous to the cast.
The rag tag team of meta kids were done dirty by the end! Static just joins Young Justice at the ending in a way that felt mandatory instead of natural.
I can't believe they just shipped a bunch of characters at the end again like last season lol I was caught off guard by that completely.
Waaay too much exposition, most of which felt unnatural. I know this season's plot is way more ambitious, but there could've been better ways to give us that information. Many of the episodes were just "plot is progressing" and not giving characters a chance to grow through their arcs.
Overall, I had a good time even when I was frustrated at certain plots. This is definitely not the Young Justice slump era I know is coming eventually, lol.

Healing Magic (Batfam: Jason)
Ajsjskajsjd this is a story about Jason experiencing Lazarus Pit healing magic for the first time, because that's something I headcanon him having- Anyway, these guys will be written out of character because writing in character is hard, so I suppose this is just my version of them? Idk, here's the story lol
(!There's a depiction of vomiting in this, but I tried not to make it too realistic/descriptive!)
Jason is fine. Probably. Maybe. Okay, so he has a bullet lodged in his chest and there's blood staining his shirt, but still, he's not dead, right? Alfred is rummaging around in his collection of medical supplies, gathering gauze, a needle, and sutures.. All the things he usually needs when stitching wounds like this. Apart from Jason's bleeding, the rest of the cave is fairly normal, at least. Damian is on the couch with Alfred the cat, Tim is speaking with Bruce about the mission and Jason's injury, and Dick is buzzing about the table, shooting worried glances at Jason every so often.
Jason isn't really worried; It's not like this is the first time he's been shot, and his pain tolerance has grown exponentially over the years. He sighs, leaning casually against the back of the cot with his hand pressed to the wound. Bruce and Tim's conversation is nothing more than a buzz in the background, as Jason can't find it in him to listen to what they're saying. Maybe that's because his head is a little fuzzy from blood loss? But still, he's fine. Even if the tingly sensation building in his chest is new, he's doing alright. His eyes wander the room, making a conscious effort to keep his breathing even and steady as he waits for Alfred to finish sterilizing the tools.
As much as he keeps telling himself that he's fine, it is sort of strange—this funky feeling in his chest. I mean, feeling pain—sure, that's to be expected, but feeling a tingly sensation—vaguely similar to the kind you feel when your foot falls asleep? Jason's.. Well, he's never quite felt anything like it in all of his years of fighting. It doesn't necessarily hurt, but it's an intense feeling that's beginning to overtake the pain. The sensation is almost dizzying, making him feel weak. Jason slides his hand away from the wound to grip the edge of the cot in an attempt to steady himself, his blood smearing onto the metal underneath him. He hears a muffled voice that sounds like Dick saying his name, but his mind is getting too fuzzy to focus on anything but the nausea that's beginning to stir in his stomach. He swallows thickly, but the gross feeling in his stomach gets worse, and his vision begins to blur as his family members spread into vague shapes moving in the cave around him.
Jason tries to keep calm, but when he's suddenly feeling so weak, he doesn't exactly have the control to hold his stomach. He starts to feel a pain in his chest, even worse than when the bullet went in, a feeling as though his skin is being yanked and stretched to fit back together and cover his wound. His entire body shudders as he coughs, the mix of dizziness and pain making him gag as he spits up something cold and slimy. His eyes water from the taste, not vomit, yet still something unpleasant and familiar.. Jason has no choice but to grit his teeth through whatever is happening in his chest, his hands shaking as he clenches them into fists to fight the urge to yell out. He can hear the louder, more worried-sounding voices of the others, but he can't make out what they're saying. It feels like he sits there for hours, coughing as his skin burns with pain, though in reality, it's probably only a few minutes.
Eventually, the pain fades enough for him to get his coughing under control—though he still feels incredibly sore—and he finally manages to pry his eyes open and catch sight of Dick, Damian, and Alfred, all looking different levels of worried. Jason's eyes flick down to his lap, where he had coughed up the liquid, but he finds no vomit. Instead, he finds a glowing neon green substance—a thin, cold, familiar liquid. Jason raises a shaky hand to wipe his mouth and eyes, swallowing down the disgusting taste. Lazarus Pit water.. That's what it has to be. It tasted just like it, and it's the only non-acid he knows that glows that bright, neon green. In the middle of the puddle is the bullet that was lodged inside Jason. Bruce's footsteps echo through the cave as he walks over to the cot, kneeling in front of it and examining both the substance and Jason. Bruce's eyes fixate on Jason's chest, and he raises a thumb to brush over the skin. Jason winces from the pain, but he notices that it doesn't hurt nearly as much. He hears Bruce make a 'Hm' sound that coaxes him into looking down himself, and he finds that the bullet wound is.. stitched. Healed, almost. Already a scab or a scar, despite Alfred never using the needle to fix it up. Jason probably would've been surprised, had he not been healed by water from the Lazarus Pit before. But still, this was interesting. It was like he had.. superpowers. Healing powers. Only towards himself, though? Well maybe if you were to apply the Lazarus Pit water he threw up to someone else's wounds it would heal them.. But that's a test for another day because Jason is fairly certain none of his brothers would ever allow him to put him vomit on their skin, even if it'd heal them.. Jason takes a deep breath, finally calming himself down after all of the pain and wooziness.
What a way to find out about having magic, huh?

Thinkin about the Meat Marionette Au, specifically the batclan having two bodies. And I apologize if this is rambling lol
I feel like they still train and work out most days (look Bruce has gotten used to picking up his kids, he's not going to stop even if he's in his human body). It's just probably not to the same extent as in canon of a daily thing without giving their bodies a break. That probably actually means their human bodies are healthier than in canon, seeing as one actually needs to let their muscles rest between exercising them. Not to mention they- or at least their bodies- are getting rest. Hell it's almost like their bodies are in comas for a few hours each night what with how low their brain activity would register as.
Now I'm thinking this probably influences how they act and appear towards the public. They shy away from most interviews (they're trying not to hiss or growl) and are mostly quiet whenever they speak in public, so it'd be easier for the tabloids to spin a story about a shy or demure family doing their best to help Gotham. Which is... the complete opposite of what they are, but no one needs to know that.
Others might even go the mysterious hermit route when trying to write a story about the Waynes, seeing as they're not spotted outside often (what with uses of disguises and such) save for the times the patriarch of the family has gone on another adoption spree. Honestly most of the stories about them are either having to do with Wayne industries, the very rare gala that everyone is wanting into, or the several adoptions that have been reported on several times.
Online is another story probably, and there's definitely several memes about each Wayne family member's posts. They're somehow Gotham's darlings despite being social recluses.
That being said, being connected to the Tunnels definitely has an effect on them even in their original human bodies. Not just mentally but physically as well. Like there is some definite off vibes the longer one is in their presence, their movements just a hint too graceful and something almost... predatory about it.
Also slightly random but I feel like Bruce would grow his hair out, like not even purposely at first. He just got caught up in cases and trying to figure out the meat-marionettes (thank you Dick for the name, but did you really have to call them that) that he forgot to get it cut several times. And by then it's just easier to put it in a ponytail than stay still for however long it'd take to get it cut and well, actually look good even if he himself doesn't care about it. Then he also gets kids who want to learn how to do things like braiding hair, which means he learns too and... yeah...
This au is a combo of my cryptid batfam and @phoenixcatch7's possessed doll au, which you need to check out because it's great. A really fun concept and influences a lot of this Au concept too. Also mutual of mine do you have any ideas for their civilian IDs

ooh also if you have any for helena bc the comics ive read on her are pretty old, sorry for bothering youu
That's easy, just buy No Man's Land.
Okay, but serious answer, for Helena comics you've got a few good options!
Batman/Huntress: Cry for Blood -- If you're going to buy one Huntress comic, buy this one. It is one of the top Huntress stories. It has good art. It was reprinted within the last 5 years as Birds of Prey: Huntress so you should be able to find it pretty easily. This does mean that it has a tie-in cover to the Birds of Prey movie, but that doesn't change the comics inside!
Birds of Prey (Various) -- Gail Simone's run on Birds of Prey--the one that Helena joined up with the team in--is a fan favorite meaning that it is very well collected and is having some reprints coming out soon! All of these volumes have been published within the last five years, the first volume, Birds of Prey: Murder and Mystery is getting reprinted next month in October I believe, and the second volume has a reprint scheduled for next year. It collects the start of Helena joining the team, but I would say Helena has her most prominent role in the second two volumes: Birds of Prey: Murder and Mystery and Birds of Prey: Fighters by Trade. The big caveat here is that I personally cannot stand the art in most of these. It's just way too horny. You're mileage may vary, but I'd take a look at some of the art ahead of time in case it's a deal breaker for you.
Taking that into account, the two volumes I would recommend slightly more are the two later ones: Birds of Prey: White Water and Birds of Prey: Progeny. They have a more ensemble nature to them and these later plotlines include Barbara expanding the Birds of Prey so there's less focus on Helena specifically, but they also have art by Nicola Scott who can actually draw women so that's a major factor for me lol.
Those are the two big ones but for some other options where she plays a smaller role:
Detective Comics by Mariko Tamaki -- For more modern Helena as Huntress, she plays a rather significant supporting role throughout Tamaki's run on Detective Comics. I liked Tamaki's run and thought it was fun. In terms of Helena specifically, I thought it was just okay. It didn't really seize me, but I've also read way worse stories. This does have the advantage of having both having solid art and being recent enough that it should be easy to find.
JLA (Various) -- Helena is a member of the JLA during Grant Morrison's run on the comic. JLA is very much a team comic, so she doesn't get a ton of focus, but it's a fun little corner for her character. It looks like there's some 2014 trades collecting this run as well as some new ones if you're interested.
Batman: Contagion -- Contagion is an ensemble event in which Helena plays a supporting role, but if you're interested in 90s Batfam Helena, I think this is probably a good choice. It got a (pretty hefty) trade collecting the event in 2016.
Batman: No Man's Land -- On a slightly more serious note than where I started, No Man's Land is a giant monster of an ensemble event, but also. I love it and I love Helena in it. The catch to this is that your options are a series of four trades from 2011-2012 or the more recent omnibuses. In terms of the trades, #1, #3, and #4 probably have the most Helena in them.

Okaaay....this is just my headcanon but but but here's a thread on each Batfam member's sexual orientation (some of them might be unpopular opinion but it's my opinion so...)
- Bruce Wayne is bi, he might have been bi-curious at one point if he is not 🥹 playboy, charming, flirtatious and rich, he's everyone's dream. And I don't think the Bat himself is in denial of his sexuality, in fact, though lowkey, he might just be casually talking about his flings to Alfred if he didn't consider feelings a scary thing.
- Please forgive me for saying this but Dick Grayson feels like a straight guy who's very comfortable with his sexuality that he doesn't mind the gay jokes and he himself would make non-homophobic queer jokes towards his friends (regardless of their sexuality).
- Jason Todd is either bi or straight, because of that Judd Winick interview and because he's giving major bi friend vibes (trust me I'm bi), who leans towards dating girls but he might have been too jaded or fearful of commitment to be in a relationship so he's still single til this day. But he might also be similar to Dick, he might be a straight guy who is constantly attracting queer friends and is ok with that. Maybe he just has a smart mouth and wants to tease or provoke other guys to the point that it seemed queer as a hetero man, like how guys irl do? I dunno, but he could either be bi or straight, he gives off both vibes to me honestly lol. I can’t decide on this one.
- Tim Drake, similar to canon storylines, bisexual, need I say more? Though I'd like to see them build Tim and Bernard more cuz Bernard is a bit too similar to Steph now, and Tim and Kon also have a very interesting dynamic so I am very conflicted. I like the fact that even though they've broken up, him and Steph are still friends. I really appreciate healthy relationships like that (i...if of course you look past the fact that he might have wanted to unalive her dad).
- Stephanie Brown feels like she could be pansexual, she's chill and she doesn't mind being in a relationship with someone of the same gender, of the opposite gender or genderfluids or trans. But to get the most accurate impression of her, I will spend my time reading Batgirls. For now, her vibes scream pansexuality to me.
- Damian Wayne is straight, but he is just not into relationships. Though I also like his dynamic with Jon, I can't see them as more than friends (but you're welcome to ship them, it's actually a cute ship but bc they're literally children so I just can't see anything more than platonic). I know the Asexual Damian trope is also very popular but to me, he seems like a straight guy who, like Jason, is not into relationships due to the nature of his worklife.
- Barbara Gordon feels like she could be straight or bi, that's up to intereptation, but for the most part to me, she seems to be straight, I mean she loves a guy named Dick so...and her interactions with BoP members seem very platonic to me. But other headcanons are also cool, please enlighten me.
- Duke Thomas is straight, he's like that one YA romance novel live action main character, an awkward teenager except he's a metahuman and also a vigilante. Yes, he's sassy and funny and nice, I know, but his vibe doesn't scream queer to me.
- Cassandra Cain is bisexual because of her interactions with Tim and Steph in the comics. She's the quiet bisexual friend/lover that everyone is comfortable with. And I love, love that about her. Yes, Cass seems to be the downright not heterosexual, hell, she might have been more into girls than guys.
- Kate Kane is 100% a lesbian, this is not a headcanon. She's so gay that nothing about her is straight, not even her name.
- Ok, weird one but I think Alfred Pennyworth might also be bisexual, he could have banged the queen as an agent in his younger years then started dating the prince a year later. Or he could be demisexual, who knows, maybe he loved someone when he was younger, then something happened and he can't find himself being in another relationship with anyone else, and also younger Bruce only had him so he didn't have time for dating.
Sorry, idk much about Harper so I can't say fo sho.
Edit: my take on Cassandra Cain before anyone comes at me with their extremist anti batcest bs again (and unless you're here for Bruce and Damian as a couple, I don't even think batcest is a word that should exist) and here. Don't go looking for dramas, be polite to other people please. Just because you don't ship it doesn't mean you should act like an asshole about it. Their interaction happened in canon and I simply stated the fact with pictures from the actual comics, I don't ship them as a couple because well, I just....don't? But it's not like I'd care or I'd be grossed out if anyone ships them because well, a ship doesn't harm anyone nor does it affect my life, but going for harassment and being aggressive about what other people like, that has nothing to do with you or your life... you're the weird one and maybe you should touch grass or get some real life friends to talk to because that's just sad.

Hii Linden!! Sorry in advance for the long ask lol
I dunno if this is an unpopular opinion but I thought I’d ask your opinion on this: I’m getting pretty tired of nightwing being pushed so much by dc recently.
Like as much as I like seeing dick being a leader and stuff it just doesn’t make sense for him to lead the entire justice league when he’s not even a member and a lot of these characters don’t know him very well. I know he’s done it in the past but apart from the dickbats thing that has also felt a bit undeserved compared to the other character available to lead.
Plus they’re mischaracterising other characters (big barda) to prop him up and that just makes his leadership feel disingenuous.
It’s also isolating a lot more dc fans from his character because they keep seeing him get pushed so much instead of other characters or at the expense of other characters.
Like I’ve seen so much hate over the past few weeks and although most of it was bs a lot of it was people genuinely tired of nightwing being the leader of everyone or ordering everyone about all the time.
And I agree with them a bit, dick is an incredibly popular character who has a bunch of his own solo stuff currently going or planned and I would love for some lesser known characters to shine in big events instead. This might just be my own preferences given I don’t like how batfam-centric dc is.
I love seeing dick being characterised properly again after the TT nightwing run and get the respect in universe he deserves but by making him so central to everything it just feels overdone especially when there are better choices :/
If you don’t agree I completely understand and sorry for asking about discourse 😅
i really wish i had more to say on this anon. i haven’t been keeping up with modern dc aside from my 3 runs so i don’t have a ton of context but i do know what you’re talking about. i don’t think i really have an issue per se with dick being portrayed as a good leader or leading the justice league; i mean he led the titans for like a million years and leadership is his thing. connections & teams are his thing. but i absolutely understand that it sucks when he’s pushed as Thee Most Specialest Most Talented Boy to the detriment of other characters. dumbing down other dc heroes to prop up the bats has always been a rampant practice and it’s the most annoying thing in the world.
idk. i don’t really feel qualified to make a definitive statement on it LOL and this feels like very shaky territory but yeah. unfortunately dc will always push characters that are popular & recognizable, due to the ever present scourge of capitalism. i think that it’s kind of reductive to claim that nightwing shouldn’t have important leadership positions but i do think it’s valid to be irritated with his constant spotlighting, if that makes sense.

Does Tim Drake exist in whump fics?
First of all, I'd like to say that I'm not a fan of Tim, usually (because… fanfics..). But when I first read some of comics AND one of the coolest Bat-clan DC fics ever (The Bat's Crest by livierambles. I adore the amount of superheros there) I looked at him again and thought, "well, maybe there is hope after all, maybe he IS a vigilante!" I don't know, he's still not my favourite but at least I see him as a part of Bat-family ehehehe and he is interesting enough.
Now about the fics.
There is not enough protective (and competent!) Tim Drake out there! He's, like, fandom's piñata (I mean, all of the Batfam members are but Tim kinda seems to be fandom's favourite, followed by Jason and Dick)… But I personally think that detective Tim, dangerous Tim, Tim who is morally ambiguous, Tim who is GOOD but still doesn't draw the line the way Bruce and Dick do…. Is better.
Not that I don't like whump and hurt/comfort (because I do) fics with batfam, but for some reason I feel like Tim's characterization suffers more because of it than anyone else's does. Maybe because it's always a little bit difficult to write a character that is described as incredibly intelligent (and let's not forget, the others are trained by Batman too, and despite some comics sayings, they are all very, very smart, know plenty of things and think fast, but Bruce and Tim are better planners and they are, like, playing chess with all this vigilantism thing. Kind of. Maybe I am wrong, but I've always thought that) but guys, Tim Drake is not a damsel! He is a tough little guy, just like the others. He's always thinking. They are the bats.
And if the main reason for this kind of fics is that writing smart guys is difficult, then why hurt!Tim fics from other's POV are still like that? I don't know..
It IS fun to write thoughtless whump sometimes, though. I did this a lot lol, just not in my DC fics.
But. Protective and competent Tim Drake who is sharp and devious? Please? No, I saw enough of that already. I just need more.
And also.
Some worried Tim who's checking up on others and being sneaky about it? It's precious to me.
Like I said. Not enough protective Tim Drake who PLANS and DOES instead of moping around or self-destruct.
As always, sorry for my bad english any typos lol.

One Batfam and Danny interaction that just came to me:
Danny, pointing fingers: How come that you can control those powers already?! It took me months not to clip through the walls!!
Whether or not said Batfam member really has as much control over their new, Danny-given powers as Danny at first believes is a different matter. XD It's about his outrage.
Hahaha lol.
I haven't gone into power shenanigans yet (that'll probably be an extra story somewhere down the line) but my thinking is that the Bats had a fairly easy time with their powers because 1) superpowers aren't that unusual in the DCU, so they have not only real live points of reference but people they can turn to with questions, and 2) they really only have to deal with 1 power whereas Danny was dealing with 3+ simultaneously.
Of course, I haven't shown it yet but like Danny, the Batfam's new powers are largely stuck in the "on" position if they aren't passive, and even then there's something of an adjustment period.
Dick floats if he's not mindful of it and now frequently hovers over his bed when he's sleeping, The Exorcist style. He kind of just lets himself do it when he's alone or in the company of other Bats or heroes, so it's not too much of an issue so long as he's not seen doing it in pubic as a civilian.
Jason is going to have a hard time getting needles through his skin now, so he better be careful about exposure to airborne chemical weapons. And also getting yearly vaccines.
Tim's astral projection doesn't necessarily mean that he's fully resting. The energy is more split between his astral form and his physical body, so the longer he spends in astral form, the less restful his sleep is. Also, the activation of his power depends on how tired he is when he goes to bed. If he's exhausted enough, he'll just sleep normally and not project at all.
Damian definitely melts a few things in his hands when he's not careful (canon seems to portray ecto-blasts as heat-based attacks, so I'm going to roll with that even though Danny is definitely more ice-affiliated).
Cass slips into the shadows a little too easily sometimes.
Steph sometimes ends up blocking herself with her own shields.
Barbara has to be mindful of what her new telekinesis grabs onto and from what direction it's coming from.
Kate is fortunate that her duplicates can't make duplicates, otherwise she'd have a harder time hiding it.
Duke definitely underestimates his own strength for a while after the abrupt buff. He may not have super-durability, which would enable him to punch through things or crush them without hurting himself, but he does keep accidentally pushing and pulling things too hard. Doors are tricky for him for a bit XD
Bruce regularly keeps blinking out of the visible spectrum, if not the entire detectable spectrum all together. Basically, his power has two settings: plain vanilla invisible (where he's just not detectable on a visible light spectrum), and Super Invisibility (where he just plain stops being detectable period). He can only maintain Super Invisibility for a few minutes continuously before it starts to wear him out (and you can bet that every time he uses it, Clark is sending him a "you good?" text or just straight up calling him to make sure he's okay XD). Of course, his power wants to be "on" all the time, so he has to be mindful of keeping himself within the visible spectrum, lest he just blip out of peoples' perception for a while.
And a note on Alfred's power: He's not going to "de-age" past his prime. I'm putting his age in CiM at around late 70's, early 80's. What his new power is doing is walking his physical body back towards the top of the "physical aptitude" curve, so he'll look like late 50's, early 60's instead of his actual age, but it won't go further than that. And most importantly, he'll feel like he's in his 50's again too :)
To note, when I say "Alfred is immortal now" I mostly mean that he doesn't age anymore. He can still be killed or fall ill, but time no longer wears on him like it used to (and really, as far as CiM is concerned, time was the only real threat to Alfred''s continued presence, so functionally, he is immortal now lol).
One thing that I do plan on writing later is that Jason and Duke spar a lot both for training and for fun because their powers kind of balance each other. Jason can take Duke's hits and Duke can wrestle Jason on fairly equal standing.
But we will be seeing Danny's reaction to the Batfam's swanky new powers fairly soon :)

Batman Danny Phantom vs Superman; some thoughts
I enjoy the many Batfam x danny phantom fics i've seen but consider that phantom has a suite of powers similar to superman.
Phantom has intangibility among other powers, and he's already half dead anyway. He might as well fight superman. When you think about it though, he could probably find kryptonite SOMEWHERE in the ghost zone, if he REALLY needed to get serious about it.
Although I feel like Danny probably is a fan and would not be seriously fighting Superman to the death. Plus I think Superman would realize he's fighting a teenager and then feel a little bad, or at least he'd cotton on that Phantom isn't serious about the fight either and is just messing around.
Danny was big fan of space stations, shuttles, all things orbital really. Not that Danny had any time to indulge in his hobbies since his half-death...
After kicking Pariah Dark's ass, enough was enough. He laid down some ghost attack rules with his usual rogues, after they all started calling him the king for some reason (lol he is in denial about that but rolling with it). Now, if they wanted to spook and scare in the realm of the living, or otherwise antagonize Danny, they had to schedule it ahead of time. Or else, they would not only be yeeted back into the Ghost Zone, but also do time in Walker's prison. (and sometimes community service)
Now Danny has a little more free time, to explore all the junk floating in Earths outer atmosphere! And obviously he invites himself into the Justice League's awesome HQ. He stalks the corridors of the Watchtower invisibly and intangibly, a fly on the wall, for days on end. He would insist he's not being creepy. Or villainous for that matter. When he mentions this JL ghosting to his friends, Tucker points out to him that if any league members catch on to his behavior, they will think he's some kind of supervillain, casing the place before an attack!
OK, so it sounds like it's time to make his presence known, before anyone gets the wrong idea! Only Danny is still awkward as hell. And how do you normally introduce yourself to them after you spent 3 weeks familiarizing yourself with every facet of the wiring of their airlock systems.
Everything obviously goes completely wrong when Phantom just sorta phases up through the floor in the middle of a casual meeting between a few of the human league members.
All he's done is introduce himself, but the atmosphere has gotten WAY too tense for Phantom's liking, and he tries easing the tension by saying "someone should crack a window in here" but Danny's still eager to talk about the orbital base so he disarmingly adds "actually I could probably do that by crossing some of the wires in this wall if i wanted-" and he is cut off by everyone leaping into attack mode because
THAT IS OBVIOUSLY A THREAT ON ALL OF THESE *AIR BREATHERS'* LIVES.
It's worrying to everyone how none of these experienced heroes seem to be capable of landing a hit on Phantom. The send the base into extreme lock-down mode, so that nothing can get in or out. Well that's the idea anyway. Phantom just sorta leaves. Through a wall. right out into space.
Worried the new rogue will be capable of doing something from the outside, they get a message out to Superman, that something (possibly alien) capable of surviving in no atmosphere broke into the Watchtower to make vague threats against the heroes, though no one was injured. Superman heads up right away to see if he can lay eyes on the surprise enemy.
To everyone's shock, although Superman immediately engaged the villain, he hasn't been able to do much, if any damage to him. Phantom seems to be having fun seeing Superman in action, up close. He's barely bothering to explain himself in between quips.
Clark starts to see this for what it is. "Are you... A child???" He reckons.
"Uh, sorta? I mean I was when I died!" Danny jokes.
That's concerning. "You seem pretty keen on fighting with me, but it seems like you aren't even trying to go on the offensive. Why is that?" Superman starts to give him some space.
"Well, I'm not used to pulling my punches. With my usual cast of rogues, I don't have to worry about accidentally killing any of them!" Danny is not sure if any of his abilities can harm a kryptonian, but he doesn't wanna risk it!
-----
If you've got any other ideas to add to this feel free to add on in a reblog or reply!
I feel like eventually the JL would end up hiring Phantom to outfit the entire Watchtower with anti-ghost shielding.
