By the time Sue Shusterman turns away from the bench at the overlook and back toward the trailhead, she knows the paddleboarders are out in force 300 yards away on the gleaming blue surface of Chatfield Reservoir.
She knows the high runoff waters have flooded the roots of Chatfield’s willows and cottonwoods, and that the first spring-green layers of the foothills rise to the west like soft fabric.
How she acquired these life-affirming memories is at first a mystery, since Shusterman is blind and is heading back toward the parking lot making her usual sweep of the path in front with her ever-present white cane.
But then a friendly voice emerges from the phone that Shusterman is pointing toward the path from her other hand.
A little to the left to stay on the paved path. Looks like there’s a trail all the way down to the beach, about 75 yards, if you wanted to go. I’ll just be here watching, let me know if you need anything.
The voice is from a live, trained human guide FaceTiming through Shusterman’s phone camera on the Aira ability-assist app. Sight-impaired people have been using Aira’s guides to make it easier to do anything from navigating an airport to filling out an online job form. Now, all 42 Colorado state parks like Chatfield are geofenced to allow any visitor to use Aira for free to stroll the trails with a helpful set of eyes.
The Aira guides seemingly effortlessly offer what a blind hiker either needs, or wants. If there’s a dangerous steep drop-off on the right, they warn. If the hiker would rather know if the sneezeweed is in bloom or the sailboats are luffing through a turn, Aira offers that instead.
For Shusterman, trying Aira as an outdoors adventure for the first time, the allure was simple: “Independence.”
“So she’s doing, I think, a phenomenal job of including the necessary safety things, but the perks of the scenery, too,” Shusterman said, as she paused during a conversation with an Aira guide based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. “She’s doing great.”
State accessibility officials recently announced the expansion of Aira to state parks grounds, after previously providing Aira free for other state-related functions such as navigating a government building or getting help on an online site or filling out forms. Colorado cannot control the cellphone signal, though, so parks officials encourage visitors to try Aira at a familiar or close-in park space before ranging farther afield with it. Popular parks like Staunton or Golden Gate contain pockets where signals are not strong.
For consumers buying access on their own, Aira costs about $50 for 30 minutes of assistance a month. Private employers and governments often buy package access to Aira and other accessibility apps for all employees to use. State accessibility coordinator Theresa Montano, who is blind and accompanied Shusterman on her Chatfield walk, said Amazon buys access so that sight-impaired shipping center employees can navigate steps to pack orders.
Montano uses Aira at her state job, saying the guides on the app can share her computer screen and help her get through an online task in 30 minutes that might take her four hours without help or through older accessibility tools.
Adding Aira for state-owned lands was wrapped into the overall $250,000 budget for free Aira use on state property and with state websites. The additional utility is an obvious plus, Montano said.
“This gives blind people the same opportunity to come and enjoy it by themselves or with their family if they want to, and be independent,” she said...
Shusterman walked away taking more from the big picture experience, rather than any particular scenic detail.
“For me, it was, you know what, I could go for a walk on this path, and I could feel completely safe, and I would enjoy a nice walk and get some exercise, in an unfamiliar area,” Shusterman said. “It’s definitely a real confidence boost for me.”

About deco my tree
If you, like me, used the decomytree-site to receive and send messages lately, you've probably also seen the post warning that the site might have nefarious intentions. This is likely correct. When I went to look at my messages today, it told me "Currently, only the app can open messages due to high usage." That is clearly complete bullshit. It's probably self-evident, but DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE APP. This is base level scam stuff: trick people into getting excited about a service, then lock it to only one platform where the user will have to give up some information in order to get what they want.
(Obviously, I can't say with 100% certainty that something sus is afoot, but my warning bells are ringing very loudly. I am leaning towards this being more of an attempt to lure money out of people than an information stealing attempt, but you can never know.)
I took a look at what the app requirements are:
Tumblr media
This ain't great for something that allegedly only is for leaving cute messages for other people. I'm looking specifically at the "Data isn't encrypted" part. If you've taken a look at your tree today, you've probably noticed that ads for an AI app have appeared here and there in the UI; this is by the same company behind deco my tree.
Now. If you still want to see your messages, there is the option of running the app in a virtual environment that isolates it from the rest of the device, and thus from the data on it. I think iOS and Android both might have native sandbox environments, but I'm not familiar with them. What I did was download an android emulator to my computer and installed the app there. It's completely separated from the rest of my OS and will cease to exist when I nuke the session after reading and saving all my messages.
The emulator I used is called Bluestacks. It has ads and will take up ca 5GB of space, but it's a reputable emulator, and I've used it before to play android games on my desktop. Once you're in there, you can navigate to your tree in the already existing Chrome browser on the desktop (or home screen, I suppose), and find the link to their help center, where they have a download link for the apk file without needing to go through the Play Store (which you'd have to log in to using a google account). Also a bit suspicious, but handy in this case. I've also included the links above for you to use. Once you've downloaded the .apk the app will open and you'll be able to log in and see your messages.
Side note - if you used a generic password that you use in several other places for this tree, I highly recommend changing it in all other places, especially if you usually combine it with the same email you used for decomytree.
Another fun thing I noticed is that the app refuses to load the earliest three messages on my tree, for whatever reason. But when I navigate back to the website (inside the emulator), it now opens the messages just fine since it can tell I have the app installed. 🙃 The app also continuously displays ads for the same AI app mentioned above, trying to trick you into clicking on them when you're swiping through your messages. It also does this fun thing:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah. Bypassable, but highly irritating, and guaranteed to catch at least some poor people that don't know what to click on to make it go away.
TL;DR: don't download the app directly to your phone, use a sandbox to isolate it to see your messages, and then ask it to delete your account (and hope that it works, because so far the so-called verification code has failed to appear in my inbox). And change your password if you've used the same one elsewhere on the internet.

Heads up that the following post discusses the poster photographed at this link. The link shows an antisemitic poster (this post will discuss why and how it is antisemitic as well as why everything about it is done in bad faith from a shady organization that should not be trusted).
You do not need to click the link to understand the content of this post, but you can choose to do so for context.
TRIGGER WARNINGS FOR THE POSTER:
Child death, child endangerment, starvation, war zones, body horror, graphic imagery
Link: https://www.tumblr.com/edenfenixblogs/750494095702704128/trigger-warnings-child-death-starvation-war
Ok, let’s get into it.
Part 1: Why Is It Antisemitic?
1. It starts by putting Jews on the defensive
This poster instantly puts any Jew who takes issue with the phrasing or rhetoric on this poster as a lying villain falsely accusing good people of bigotry in order to support a genocide. What about people who disagree with Israel’s bombardment of Palestine, but who also think this poster is antisemitic? Where will they be heard? How will their concerns be addressed?
2. It only addresses the needs of non-Jews
The goal to disarm people in a conflict is a good one! Why is it only Israel that must be disarmed when Israel is also receiving incoming bombs on a daily basis? Is that peace? Or is that a call for one side to be murdered? How does this address the stochastic threat that Jews outside of Israel are facing?
3. It offers no solutions for peace
After Israel is disarmed, what is the goal for the Israeli people and state? How will Israelis be protected? Should they have any protection? How will the defend against bombs from Hamas and Lebanon? What treaties will be negotiated to enable peace? How will antisemitic extremists be deradicalized? What policy-based or judicial systems or safeguards will be put in place to guarantee safety for both Palestinians and Israelis? Taking weapons away from one side of an armed conflict doesn’t create peace. It creates an unarmed target. I am a pacifist and against all war. But I am also against taking weapons away solely from the side that popular OR unpopular opinion deems “wrong.” Stopping destruction in Palestine—especially on the scale in which it is occurring—is vital. But that alone does not ensure peace or even encourage peace. All it does is disarm people. Peace is a negotiated state of existence not a lack of weaponry.
4. It mispells antisemitism
I am not inclined to believe that a person or organization who cannot spell antisemitism has a clear or complete understanding of what antisemitism entails or how it expresses itself in society.
Part 2: Source Evaluation (TL;DR: Abject failure across the board)
1. Not on charity navigator
Taxpayers for peace does not appear on charity navigator at all. I must question whether or not it is in fact a charity or simply a lobby. I also have no way of assessing the companies funding, spending, or transparency—because they do not provide information on the website.
2. No funding information on the website itself
I touched on this in the above bullet point. But it is really important in this conflict to know exactly where the money you give is going and where an organization is getting most of its money from. Hamas got its start from the charities associated with the terrorist organization, The Muslim Brotherhood. (^^I will be Reblogging this post with more info on this but don’t have time to address this all with photos and links in this post. For now, here are the linked Wikipedia sources and a screenshot of the info in question. As always with Wikipedia, consider it a starting point and read the sources the page cites, not just the wiki article)
Tumblr media
3. Several source links are dead.
Not many sources are available on the taxpayersforpeace website, and they certainly do not have a tab specifically devoted to sources.
Here is the list of sources.
Tumblr media
The two Badil links are dead:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Available sources are sparse
Of the few sources there are, there are only three actual organizations responsible for them: B’Tselem, Badil, and Architect and Academic Malkit Shoshan’s seminal work, Atlas of a Conflict.
The sources from Badil lead to dead links, leaving only Shoshan and B’Tselem. Two sources are not enough to support an entire website. Two sources are not even enough to support an academic paper.
5. Available sources are outdated
None of the sources of this constantly evolving and ongoing conflict were written within the last decade. Even if these sources are considered legitimate, it is odd that more recent ones were not included.
6. The available sources are used manipulatively
So, we have two sources. Let’s look at them.
Source 1: Malkit Shoshan
By all accounts, she is a highly respected and credible source on architecture, spacial design and planning, and the way that the small space shared between Israel and Palestine has shifted to be dominated by Israel over the past several decades. She has been continually critical of Israeli settlements in the West Bank (as have I) and has been extremely consistent in including Palestinian voices and struggles in her advocacy for peace (as have I).
She also supports BDS (which I do not).
Her work has explores the relationship between architecture, urban planning, and human rights.
She is respected but also controversial source on the conflict. She has signed her name to a Harvard faculty letter (as a member of the faculty) endorsing BDS and Palestinian Solidarity. Her work is sure to ruffle some feathers. (The letters to which this one responded are also linked within the above link, providing several perspectives on the matter during a previous flare of the ongoing conflict—from before 10/7)
However, while she very well might be anti-Zionist, I have not been able to find any statements by her to the affirmative in this case. If anyone has such statements I welcome them in order to provide a more thorough analysis of her as a source. But from what I could gather, she views herself as a progressive seeking peace between Israel and Palestine.
And while she would characterize many aspects of Israeli treatment of Palestine as colonial in nature (a statement which I do not agree with as a blanket statement about Israel as a whole, but for which she provides compelling evidence in certain instances, especially in the West Bank), I have yet to see her call the whole of Israel as a colonial project. In fact, she views Israel as a whole as post-colonial, according to her most recent interview with Haaretz. In fact, she seems to reject the idea that violence from either side is appropriate or necessary in order to attain peace—and on this matter, I occur wholeheartedly:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She states that she prefers to engage in discourse rather than violence. She discusses European colonialism as a decades-bygone problem because of which we are still dealing with tremendous fallout internationally. Additionally, she goes on to say that other nations are using the conflict in Israel and Palestine to suit their own geopolitical ends. And she does not isolate American, European, or Middle Eastern nations as uniquely manipulative in this matter. She acknowledges that every side has an agenda.
Her work seeks to humanize Palestinians. Not dehumanize Israelis. I have found no evidence that she would sign her name to a statement condemning Israel and the US of collaborating to commit genocide—let alone a billboard with graphic, triggering imagery. Her work focuses on building a better future—helping internally displaced Palestinians speak with their governments and organizations on their own behalf to obtain equal access to civic resources—in a shared homeland that prioritizes humanity, cohabitation, mutual acknowledgment and respect, and a peace. As controversial as her work is, she makes sure to participate in what she calls “productive disagreement,” including bringing together frequently opposing Israeli and Palestinian voices.
She has written award winning books and been involved with thought-provoking art installations, yet all of her work focuses on improving Palestinian welfare and recognition, not tearing Israel or Israelis down or telling the US to unilaterally disarm Israel entirely. She focuses primarily on how life within the Levant can be improved, not on international military relations.
Her own personal Twitter account acknowledges the pain of all involved, including Israelis’. And she seeks an end to the conflict, not a victor.
Tumblr media
One thing is clear: She does not want her name associated with poorly sourced information, inflammatory rhetoric, or “counterproductive rage” that dehumanizes anyone.
(SOURCE EVAL TL;DR: AN INTERESTING AND COMPELLING SOURCE PROVIDED WITHOUT ADEQUATE CONTEXT AND MANIPULATED FURTHER A ONE-SIDED AGENDA)
Source 2: B’Tselem
This is certainly a more interesting source than I have seen cited by anti-Israel folks than most others. First of all, the source seems to originate from within Israel.
Encouragingly, they do actually appear on charity navigator with a 94% rating.
Despite this, I have a few problems related to this rating.
This rating is based on data from no later than 2021
The charity has not posted tax documents on its site
They have not provided access to board meeting minutes.
Its entire score is calculated based only on financial data that is three years out of date. There is not data on its impact as an organization, measurement of data, internal culture and community, or analysis of its leadership. It’s essentially a stamp of approval that the financial documentation sent to charity navigator 3 years ago was in order.
It is harshly critical of Israel’s allowing settlements in the West Bank as well as of many of its policies toward Palestine and treatment of Palestinians. In large letters near the bottom of its page, it states:
“Israel’s regime of apartheid and occupation is inextricably bound up in human rights violations. B’Tselem strives to end this regime, as that is the only way forward to a future in which human rights, democracy, liberty and equality are ensured to all people, both Palestinian and Israeli, living between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.”
Given that the organization claims to want equality for Palestinians and Israelis, I doubt they would support a unilateral disarmament. Even though the site itself is tremendously biased against Israel in general (having an article on Israeli use of human shields, but not an extant or equally visible source on Hamas’ use of human shields, which is also well documented). Even this organization acknowledges that crimes against Israeli civilians are indefensible and violate international law and the goal of peace.
Tumblr media
(Link to full article found in the text above the image)
Additionally, the organization admits that 50% of its funding comes specifically from outside of Israel. This is intriguing on its own, but I am also suspect of the accusatory manner in which they declare that the law requiring that they disclose this information is meant to “equate their funding with disloyalty.”
To me it is not even the admission that the funding comes from outside of Israel that troubles me. Rather, it is the admission that the funding comes specifically from state sources outside of Israel. Given the relevance of the aforementioned historical precedence that Muslim Brotherhood affiliated “charities” gave rise to Hamas, I would consider the source of funding in charities related to the conflict to be uniquely relevant. The antagonistic tone of the declaration as well as the small text with which it is declared and its placement at the very bottom of the website makes me suspect of the funders in question.
Tumblr media
Relatedly, I could not find any financial documents or materials providing transparency in their funding or organization.
Another suspicious bit of information I found is that their Fatalities Statistics database only includes fatalities in the West Bank up to October 31. But it does not include any fatalities in the Gaza Strip OR ISRAEL past 10/6/2023–a day that might alter their data about the Israeli death toll a little.
Tumblr media
To be very clear: this does not and will never justify the bombing of Gaza and Rafah. But it fully erases the attack by Hamas against Israel on 10/7/2023. I find this omission highly suspect. And the lack of acknowledgment of Hamas’ attacks on 10/7 or the ongoing incoming missile attacks from Hamas and Lebanon by B’Tselem in its statistics section to be a glaring omission on an organization that supposedly wants peace for all.
I also don’t see a list of sources from which they collect their data or any attempt to differentiate Palestinian citizens from Hamas combatants.
Finally, as I typically champion interfaith and intercultural organizations devoted to peace and relief within Israel and Palestine, I looked for B’Tselem on the Alliance for Middle East Peace website. B’Tselem did not appear on their list of 160+ affiliated/member-charities.
However, you can find those 160+ charities here: https://www.allmep.org
SOURCE EVALUATION TL;DR: Even though the source is flawed and would not pass muster on a full source evaluation in general, even this source itself claims to want violence against Israel to stop, leading me to believe it too would stop short of calling the current situation a genocide—although it would definitely call what is happening to Palestinian civilians in Gaza and Rafah a war crime, indefensible, and untenable (with which I am inclined to generally agree). I was unable to find a search function on the website, so I can’t be 100% certain that they didn’t use the word genocide, but that word seems at odds with their general mission statement, despite their bias. The site also calls for a release of Israeli hostages as well as acknowledging the attack by Hamas on 10/7 as horrific. Based on this information, despite my many problems with this source, even it does not call for unilateral disarmament. It calls for the expulsion of Israeli presence in the West Bank (in accordance with the law), an end to violence, and a release of Israeli hostages.
7. The sources are not provided by Taxpayersforpeace.
The few sources I was able to find for this website originate from VisualizePalestine—a tremendously problematic organization that also fails to appear on charity navigator.
I will included links on my next post about all this cuz I’m beat right now, but: It cites sources that insist on calling the IDF the IOF (tremendously inappropriate in an official document), legitimizing the Muslim Brotherhood, and reframing the intifadas as justifiable acts of resistance—something not even B’Tselem condemned. In general, VP’s entire goal seems to be to “change the narrative” from anti-Palestine to anti-Israel. And that will never support a peaceful future.
Despite my issues with the two sources listed in the graphic pictured above from VP—I find myself in full agreement with the statements at the heart of both Shoshan’s and B’Tselem’s arguments: The future must be geared toward attaining peace for all. Not casting one side or the other as the bad guy or good guy. Tremendous violence has shaped the lives of Israelis and Palestinians for my entire life and since long before I was born. We don’t need to swap our ideal victors. We need to end conflict for everyone. And not by just letting one side or the other be slaughtered, but by negotiating peace.
As always, please click my media analysis tag for more analysis of sources across the political and bias spectrum as well as for insight into how and why I evaluate as I do.

Tumblr media
summary : you and wilbur are having difficulty navigating life together as a couple. that’s nothing a vaguely insulting band-aid can’t solve.
genre : fluff
warnings : probably swearing, too much shakespeare, reader gets a paper cut, mentions of food/eating
pairing : cc!wilbur soot x reader
pronouns : none (you/yours)
featuring : cc!wilbur soot
requested : could i request just some domestic fluff stuff, you can do whatever you want with it honestly i just crave some more wilbur
word count : 1k
note : here you go my lovely anon, i hope you enjoy <3
Tumblr media
over the course of your relationship, you and wilbur had gotten to know each other extremely well. he knew what laundry detergent you used, you knew exactly where he’d put his phone, wherever it was. you’d both been splitting your time between each others’ places, but now, coming up on five years together, you figured it was finally time to get somewhere of your own.
which lead to you spending your thursday night with wilbur on the floor of your new living room, swearing heavily. you were on the phone with the nearest takeout place while he tried to assemble the new coffee table you guys had just bought. he’d already hurt himself, a bandaid with william shakespeare’s face on it stuck to his hand, old timey script saying “go thou and fill another room in hell.”
apparently thursday night was extremely busy, and you were on hold. finally, someone at the shop answered, and you breathed a sigh of relief. “hi, would i be able to get-”
“i’m so sorry we’re swamped here, would you be able to order on the website and i can get back to you?” the poor girl on the other side of the phone sounded exhausted, and you felt bad for bothering her.
“oh, the website’s actually broken,” you cringed at the fact that you were being an inconvenience. “is it okay if-”
“i’m so sorry, give me one second,” you could hear yelling in the background and decided it was better to just hang up and give the workers one less order to worry about.
you put your phone down on the bench and went to turn back to wilbur, banging your head immediately after on an open cabinet.
will heard the thud and poked his head around as best as he could. “you alright, darling? need a bandaid?” he’d been desperate to show off his shakespeare bandaids, but you just shook your head, smiling tiredly. “this should be done in like, ten minutes?” he looked back at his project. “yeah, about that.”
the coffee table was still in pieces, but you didn’t say anything, coming to sit behind him on the sofa, him scooching over on the rug to sit right in front of you. your hands delved into his hair and his chin sat on your knee. “dinner’s not coming,” you informed him, sleepiness heavy in your voice. it had been a long week. all you wanted was to crawl into your newly assembled bed with your partner and sleep forever.
“want me to go pick something up?” he asked. “or i can run to the shops and i can make something?”
you looked at him, smile widening. “maybe in a little while. come sit with me?” the texture of his bandaid was rough against your skin as he placed his hand on your jaw. you leaned into him, smiling blissfully as he wrapped his free arm around you.
“you should go shower, relax for a second. i’ll go out, find some dinner. we can leave the table. i think it’s broken,”
“you’re reading the instruction manual for the fridge,” you pointed out. “the coffee table one’s in the kitchen.”
“i didn’t think i needed to connect the coffee table to the plumbing,”
you laughed. “do you want me to come with you?”
wilbur shook his head. “no, i know your order. i’ll be back in fifteen minutes?” you nodded and he kissed your forehead. “love you.”
“love you too,” your eyes fell shut, and you allowed yourself a few moments before you’d force yourself to get up and go shower. wilbur was right, it was exactly what you needed after a hard day, and you revelled in the warm water. another good thing about moving in with wilbur was that your new shower had incredible water pressure. you fell back on the bed and let yourself sit in silence. wilbur would be back soon, and you wouldn’t have to worry about when he’d have to leave to go back to his place or when you’d have to leave him to go to yours.
he returned, as promised, less than fifteen minutes later, and the two of you sat on the kitchen floor, ignoring the mess of wilbur’s attempt of putting together your furniture. he wasn’t wrong, he’d gotten you exactly what you wanted, and your hand ghosted over the cool tile to come rest on his leg. he let you place your head on your shoulder, and murmured gently in your ear as you both ate. “y’wanna know something, honey?” you hummed in agreement. “this thing says you should leave, and fill another room with hell. i disagree, any room without you is already filled with hell.”
“you’re gross,” you couldn’t stop the smile stretching itself out on your features, face pressed into his arm, both of you tangled in each other on the floor of your new kitchen. you reached blindly for your food and yelped as the side of the paper bag sliced into your finger.
wilbur shot up, your arm buckling under the unexpected weight of holding yourself up in his absence, and he brandished the shakespeare box at you proudly. he placed the plaster gently on your pinkie finger, pressing soft kisses to make you feel better. “do thou amend thy face, and i’ll amend my life.”
wilbur gasped, mock offence prevalent on his face. “if i fix my face, your life will be better. is that what you just said to me?”
you gazed affectionately across the small kitchen at him. “not at all. my life can’t get any better.” he softened, smiling warmly at you as you opened your mouth again. “which is good, cause your face can’t get any worse.”
wilbur laughed, throwing his head back to rest against the drawer, and you couldn’t help yourself, leaning forward to kiss him open-mouthed, bandaged finger running roughly along his brows. he kissed you back, lacing your fingers with his. his index finger, adorned with william shakespeare hooked around your matching pinkie as he pulled you closer to him, deathly warm against the cold tile beneath you as you relaxed fully for the first time all week.

Hi!! I saw your blog and it's beautiful! I'd like to ask if you could share some tips about editing posts, specifically changing the font color and doing that cool effect where it has more than one color on the same font ☺ if you're not comfortable teaching that's okay too! Have a good night
Tumblr media
Hello Siren,
Thank you for the compliment. Yes, I can teach you. Just follow a tip from Auntie here: do it because you genuinely like the aesthetic. The time you spend writing the post is sometimes the same as editing it, and in my experience, this won't necessarily translate into more likes or reblogs. So, do it because you think it's beautiful.
As comical as it sounds, I won't be using HTML in this post because using the codes could cause problems. I've seen some tutorials, but I just really learned when I searched on my own.. I also do all my editings on my notebook. So, here's everything I use:
Tumblr media
Websites I use for editing:
HTML Code Editor: While you're creating your HTML, you can simultaneously see if it's working
BBcode & HTML Text Colorizer: This is where you'll create the gradient
Browserling: I use this site to make the gradient code compatible for Tumblr
Aesthetic Symbols: this is for that cute symbols
Piliapp: more copy/paste symbols
Fontes e Letras: copy/paste fonts
Canva: This is where I create some of my designs. I also use Photoshop
Deviantart: a lot of material for Photoshop like templates, PSDs and Renders (PNG image with a good resolution), you can see the ones I use the most in my sources
@animatedglittergraphics-n-more: dividers
@saradika: dividers
@engrampixel: cute material
Color Hunt: if you don't have a color pallete in mind, here you can find a lot of options
Adobe Color: if you want to create your own HTML color palette this site can help
DaFont: where I download my fonts, the ones I use the most are: Betterfly, Arcadepix, Starborn, Lemon Milk, Cursive Sans and BubbleGum
EmojiTerra: as I use tumblr on my notebook, this is where I get my emojis
Tumblr media
HTML Text Editing
Important:
Go use the HTML Code Editor in this part and your life will be way easier.
Some things I do right here in the tumblr editor, like putting the images and different fonts like Lucille.
All HTML code starts with < > and ends with , that is, when you start a paragraph you will write <p> and when you finish you will write </p> (HTML Code Editor ends your coding automatically)
I'm teaching all this because if you want to make gradients in your entire text and not just in the title, you'll need to know about html
To start your HTML you will need to go to the gear that appears on the right side when you are writing your post, go to the bottom until you find the Text Editor and switch to HTML.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Codes
<p> start a paragraph </p>
<br> to make a space between text less than a paragraph (good to use in indented text) you don't need to put </br>
<b> make the text bold </b>
<i> leave the text in italics</i>
<strike> leave the text crossed out </strike>
<small> make the text small like this </small>
<h1> make the text large like this </h1>
<h2> make the text large like this </h2>
<ul> Create unordered list (dotted) </ul>
<ol>Create lists with order (numeric) </ol>
*instead of making paragraphs you will create new items in the list using the code <li> </li>
<blockquote class="npf_indented"> make the text indented </blockquote>
<span style="color: #HTML"> Code to color your texts, pay attention that it uses (") instead of (') and doesn't use (;) </span>
Tutorial on creating invisible spaces, just like I use to do the navigation, if I put it here everything bugs. PT-BR
<a href="URL">Link Text</a>: Creates a hyperlink
Tumblr media
Making your Gradient
Go to BBCode and HTML already with your HTML text and colors in hand. Write or copy your text in the box, choose the gradient type (I use middle) and select your colors (from one to three different colors)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now copy the text in the "HTML code for this text: (To use on your website)" box and go to the Browseling, you will replace the (') to (") and the (;) for nothing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Copy and paste your new code direct in your tumblr post editor or in the HTML Code Editor. Success!!
I think that's all. Kisses from the Sea! 🐚

Today is the day Y/N Y/L/N has been waiting for - she’s finally going to move! She just ended a relationship and was forced to move. Luckily for her, one of her friends found a rather cheap place for her. They however have no idea why it’s so cheap, considering that it isn’t a house - it’s a manor! And a very fancy one, at least according to the pictures on the website.
Right now, her friend is helping her move into her new home. You would almost think that it’s the friend who’s moving in, judging by her excitement.
“Look, Y/N! That’s your new home! Wow, it’s huge! You won’t mind me visiting you often, right?” her friend says, practically begging.
Y/N chuckles. “Of course not, Sophia. You can come whenever you want to. Just call me in advance” she tells her, both as a joke but also seriously. Sophia has turned up unannounced before…
Sophia giggles. “Yeah, yeah, I promise! Oh, look at that garden! We definitely need to grill one day!” she exclaims excitedly.

About your recent post where you said you’re willing to talk to new writers: I’m very secure about the quality of my actual writing, but it’s the looming, impenetrable crucible of publishing that utterly defeats me. How did you do it? Could you possibly offer me any help in that regard?
Hi! Publishing is not nearly as intimidating or as scary as you think it is, or as people seem to make it out to be. I've never trad pubbed a novel, but I have self published and published short stories in professional journals, as well as worked as a columnist in an arts website.
For self publishing I bought an ISBN, but I don't think you have to in the US since you can get free ones from Ingram Spark and Amazon. People say Ingram Spark is difficult to navigate but honestly skill issue because once you learn how to use it it's way more convenient - plus the formatting is infinitely better. I downloaded my Ingram Spark ebook and used it as the file for Amazon because the Kindle book making software is mid at best.
Anyways you import your book, set prices to calculate royalties - it's a little extra on Amazon if you want extended distribution and for it to get in libraries, which is why I sprung for my own ISBN. It was like 140 bucks I think, maybe less. Then you design a cover - Canva is cool and free, it doesn't need to be crazy, minimalism is timeless. Approve all of it, maybe order a proof copy to make sure it looks groovy. Then you approve it and in like a week your books are available online.
Amazon has Amazon, obviously, but Ingram Sparks has a direct link you can share for people to buy. It also helps when you're working with bookstores, which I still have to do, because they can just buy from them directly. They just look up your ISBN code.
Uh, and for short stories you can just look up lit mags that publish in the genre you write in. If I write body horror, Id say "body horror short story submissions (month, year)" and then just send it to anyone whose requirements you meet. Some don't pay but that's fine, I think. It's just cool to get out there and have an online portfolio.
It's really just a tedious kind of numbers thing, like a household chore for writers. And yeah it hurts at first when you get rejected. But after a while you start getting rejections from places you don't remember submitting to and you're just kind of like "huh okay".
That's my main publishing takes. I have separate experience in producing plays that I've written and culture/technical writing (which is really fun if you find a good gig), but I dont think that's relevant for the average prose writer haha. But yeah get submitting, it can't hurt!
Oh marketing, though. That's the scary part. Publishings nothing compared to the existential horror of marketing yourself. But you can worry about that later.

Some thoughts about cpunk and mobility aids
I recently saw this post by @satellites-halo:
I think OP brings up a very good point here: if your mobility aid is obviously dangerous you can’t bring it places you’ll need to go. That said this isn’t the end of the story.
As a practitioner of HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts; using historical weapons from Europe) there are actually a lot of writings on using things like canes and chairs for self defense/offense. For example there was a several year streak in London where walking staffs were the most deadly weapon. When these books and treatises were written they weren’t adding spikes or barbed wire to these things.
I am pretty much a full time cane user due to my hEDS and POTS. I will not use it for a little bit but I end up unstable and in pain afterwards, I mainly do this for exercise/practice. So I have been very interested in learning how to use a cane in this way, as well as seeing how other, similar, aids have been used throughout history.
While not all of these forms of fighting are useful for all mobility aid users, such as full time wheelchair users or some forearm crutch users, there’s a surprising amount of people it will work for. For example, I’m currently reading a treatise by a man who is partially blind, that is his term with modern vocabulary we would call him legally blind, and he is good enough at fighting to be considered one of the most amazing swordsman and cane fighter. (It should be noted that he did not have access to glasses and mainly navigated the world tactually)
The only real requirement is that the aid should be built from a single piece (not any of the foldable kinds) and be of sturdy materials: metal, solid wood, etc. While I recognize that this does exclude a fair few mobility aids there’s still a fair few this works for: canes, rollators (though lifting them into position for fighting might be untenable for some people), forearm crutches (if used like a Roman forearm blade, again some may not be able to do this), and even some leashes for service dogs (used as a rope dart) to name a few. There are probably more in forgetting but it’s a lot.
The key thing about all of this is that you don’t have to add scary spikes that might make the TSA balk at you, you can just use a normal looking mobility aid to do the same thing. It should also be noted that most courts consider mobility aids to be part of the person using them for the purposes of assault charges; if someone touches your mobility aid in a way you don’t like, that’s assault and you can respond in kind. That isn’t legal advice and there’s still ‘appropriate force’ president to consider but twapping someone who is grabbing at your cane, especially maliciously, isn’t out of question for a normal reaction, and being good at doing so is preferable.
Ok, cool Beth, but what do I do with this info?
There’s a little part of this post that’s me trying to get more disabled people like me into a sport I love but I can’t do so without some caveats. Not all HEMA clubs are built the same and some can be downright nasty, please look up any club you consider joining and maybe ask a physical/occupational therapist before launching into a contact sport. If it’s not in your interest then that’s also fine, there are several forums that post book recommendations for learning cane fighting or uses of a chair in WWII fighting (what rollators are great for).
If you’re a cane user, there are actually custom canes that you can order that are especially made for fighting (that aren’t objectionable enough to be confiscated by anyone who does security) but also just getting a cane made from a hardwood works. The website https://canemasters.com has a great selection and a really nice custom ordering system.
I wish I had more for other forms of mobility aids but my research is limited, if you have more sources for this stuff please comment/repost with them. If that’s not your style my dms are always open for cool fighting stuff!
Be safe and stay punk!

Fabric Mods I Use For A Vanilla+ Experience
I don’t use many mods, but I do use a few mods and datapacks in order to improve some quality of life things, and add a few fun features. I’ve played with these mods for years (though some are more recent additions), and I’ve absolutely loved it and now I can’t play without them. Let’s go through them.
Xaero’s Minimap and World Map
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a pretty simple mod! It adds a customisble minimap and world map, with built in waypoint system for easy navigation and teleportation. The menus can be a little daunting, but once you get it set up you never need to look at them again! I love being able to keep track of how far my miscellaneous adventures take me, especially since I play on a large biomes world.
Optifine & Optifabric
Tumblr media
A well known essential, optifine improves graphical processing for Minecraft and adds support for other mods visual features. It also gives me a zoom button, which I once tried to press in real life while trying to look at something far away. Thanks optifine.
I also use optifabric, which is just a compatibility mod to make optifine run with the fabric installation.
Dye Depot
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Probably my biggest departure from vanilla, dye depot adds 16 new dyes and accompanying coloured blocks to help fill in a couple of those transitionary colour gaps. As a builder, I cannot stress how much this has inspired creativity and given life to old builds. I mainly play on my project world, where I’m building a big island covered in different themed builds and after spending over a year on it, some of the older builds started to disappoint me a little. Not anymore! All these beautiful new blocks add much desired vibrancy!
Fish of Thieves
Tumblr media
Now I actually added this mod to my build project server for my partner, who wanted to see more life in the oceans with different kinds of fish other than just cod and salmon and the occasional tropical fish. However, there is one feature this mod adds that we have been absolutely obsessed with: fish mounts. Now that might sound really weird until you look at the fish mounts and realise they are just better, more decorated signs. I use signs so much in building and rarely do I need to write on them so the fish mounts’ variations are such a delight.
Tumblr media
Just look at them.
Amendments
Tumblr media
Amendments is a recent addition to my server but I’ve already used so many of its excellent features. From stacking skulls, to hanging signs off fence posts and lanterns on walls, to carpeted stairs and slabs, amendments has had excellent compatibility with my other mods and added some features I never knew I needed so badly.
Infinite Trading
Tumblr media
Infinite trading does exactly what you think it does. I abuse this regularly,
Vanilla Tweaks
Tumblr media
Technically not a mod but a datapack! Vanilla tweaks is very well known and incredibly customisable through their website. Personally I love extra mob heads, mini blocks, cauldron concrete, fast leaf decay, multiplayer sleep, armour statues and extra shulker shells. I use a lot of these features very regularly and if you don’t want to or can’t mod your Minecraft game, please consider trying out some Vanilla Tweaks datapacks.
And that’s everything! Hopefully you’ve seen something interesting here, let me know if you use any of these and what mods you like to use for that vanilla+ modded experience :) also i am not sponsored and wasnt asked to make this post by anyone, these are just my thoughts :)

Opening Up My Discord Server (Just a Little Bit)
I have a discord server that is not currently publicly join-able. It's a small, chill, close-knit group of (mostly physically disabled) folks who also happen to follow my blog.
I'm looking to open up my server a bit and send some invites out to folks. But I'm not gonna open it up publicly for anyone to join. Here's why: I have neither the time or energy to moderate shit. I don't wanna have to worry about what's going on in the server and keeping it small makes that a hell of a lot easier.
All that being said, a more active server is a better server and in order to make it more active, it needs more people. So, take a look at the server description below and follow the instructions to get an invite. If the following things apply to you:
You have a physical disability
You use a mobility aid (e.g., crutch, wheelchair)
You follow my blog
You are 18+ (it's not a NSFW server, but I don't want to deal with children)
You want a place to talk to disabled people about being disabled
You want a place to talk to disable people about other stuff, while being disabled.
You want a place to ask/give tips for navigating life as a disabled person
Then my server might interest you.
If the following things apply to you:
You consider yourself more of an ally to the disabled than disabled
You love disabled twitter/tumblr/wherever drama
The most interesting thing about is the fact that you have a disability
You enjoy participating in online discourse
You get more out of the "mental health" sides of Tumblr than the "physical disability" side of Tumblr
You're looking for a place to vent / talk exclusively about what's been bothering you
My server isn't for you.
If you're interested in joining my server, send me a non-anonymous ask (you can use tumblr or my website) with the following:
What you hope to get out of my server
What kind of mobility aid you use or what your disability is
The vegetable you hate the most (this is to confirm you've read this far)
How you found my blog or a particular article you liked that I wrote
The Discord username you'll use to join the server
Do not DM me.
If I like what I see, I'll reply with an invite code.
I'm not putting all this in place because I think I and my server are hot shit. Again, I simply just do not have the time for traditional Tumblr bullshit or discord server moderation. Additionally, I genuinely care about the folks who are currently on my server. They're cool folks and I don't want to invite someone in to the server that may harm their experience. So I'm doing all this to filter it out.

1. ‘Do You Know How To Take Care of a Sick Person?’
You texted Kelley and Emily at 8am to tell them that you wouldn’t be coming to practice. After avoiding it for so long, the bug making its way through the team had finally caught up with you. You had been up half the night, hunched over the toilet. The rest of the night was spent restlessly on the bathroom floor. In the morning, you finally managed to drag yourself off the cool tile and into your bedroom, sending a quick text before falling asleep.
Kelley and Emily were freaking out after they got your message. You texted “not coming practice,” of course they were worried about you. You always texted in full sentences and gave way too many details, something must be wrong. So they packed overnight bags before heading to practice.
After practice, they quickly make their way to your apartment. They don’t bother knocking, letting themselves into the dark room. They navigate easily through the hallways, finding their way to your room.
There they saw the problem. You were “not coming practice” because you were sick. And Emily and Kelley would be very bad team moms if they didn’t take care of you, so they divide and conquer.
Kelley locks the front door, knowing that nobody would be going out today. She then moves into the living room, folding the blankets and bringing your empty water bottles into the kitchen to throw in the dishwasher. Emily grabs a clean bottle out of your cabinet, filling it with a watered down Gatorade. She then grabs medications from your bathroom and leaves the two items by your bedside.
The two then reconvene on the sofa. Kelley pulls out her phone and starts putting a grocery order in, Emily chiming in with her thoughts. They thought back on the awful week when they had been sick, trying to remember everything they needed. More medicine is a must, an antiemetic and a fever reducer would be lifesavers. Cans of soup, crackers, popsicles. Drinks, of course, more Gatorade and ginger ale. The two then scroll through the rest of the website, trying to find you some comfort items. A new blanket and a stuffed monkey find their way into the cart. And maybe, just maybe, the two women debated getting a baby monitor. Deciding that it might be slightly overboard, they don’t add it to the order. After placing the order, the two flip the tv to a soccer game, happy to relax after a long practice. They also knew they likely had a few long days and nights ahead.
—-
The groceries had been delivered and put away by the time you managed to open your eyes. You see medicine and a drink by your bed and take it without even thinking about it. Where did it come from? What is it? How long has it been sitting there? It didn’t matter, you swallow it down quickly, hoping for any relief.
Noise and light seeps in from the hallway. You must not have shut off the tv last night, in too much of a rush to get to bed. You gather all the strength in your body to get upright, sitting at the edge of the bed for a minute to allow the dizziness to pass. Once you have adjusted, you stand up. Slowly, you make your way out to the living room.
Still half asleep, you reach for the remote on the coffee table, shutting the tv off. You’re about to trek back to your room when a voice protests.
“Hey, I was watching that!”
“Emily?” you ask, trying to place the voice.
“Yeah buddy, I’m here. Kelley is too, she just ran to grab drinks.”
As if on cue, Kelley walks back into the living room, doing a double take when she sees you.
“Good morning kid! How are you feeling?”
You know the answer instantly, “bad, I’m sick. You guys shouldn’t even be here, I’ll just get you sick and then Coach will be mad at me for missing practice and for getting you guys out too.”
By the end of your rant, you were so sick and so worked up that Kelley had crossed the room to grab ahold of you. Leading you to the sofa, she settles you down in the middle.
“Honey, relax. We’ve already had this, remember when we were out a few weeks ago? It’s okay. Em and I are here, and we’re not leaving. You just get better, we’ll handle the rest.”
“Are you sure? You don’t have to do this. I know you’re Captains but this isn’t in your job description,” you check with them. You don’t want them to feel pressured to do this.
Emily joins in now, pulling the blanket off the back of the sofa and tucking it around you as she speaks. “Y/N, listen to me. We are not doing this because we feel obligated to. If we didn’t want to be here, we wouldn’t be. We weren’t with the rest of the team when they were sick because that’s not our job as captains. We want to take care of you because we love you.”
You sniffle, giving in to the care you so desperately want, “okay. Love you guys too.”
You feel a hand on your head, checking for a fever. Kelley’s, judging by the voice. “We love you so much. And we have a whole schedule of sick things planned”
“Do you guys even know how to take care of a sick person?” You ask, partially joking and partially curious.
Emily laughs, “I guess we’ll find out.”

I think we should talk more about breeding kinks here specifically with whatever men you're currently thinking about. I finished read your snippets on your website so that inspired this anonymous question.
god. i have a lot of insane things i could say about it. WRT daniel and jamie. i want to put it under a readmore b/c im embarrassed but i dont want to use one b/c they dont work right on my theme (SO IVE LEARNED) so heres captain sisko cardboard cutout
Tumblr media
this is probably going to get weird but daniel is a weird guy. full disclosure
uh. god. i had a whole long thing typed out justifying it but all u really need to know is that daniel is one google search away from being a massive furry. if he had any idea how much anthro knotting porn is out there on the internet he would never leave his fucking room. he has it so bad dude
so like. this poor fucking guy wants to come in something so badly he cant see straight (who doesnt) and the only thing hes got is another dudes mouth on a blue moon. it would be a lot easier if he could just sniff out who wants to fuck on the air like a big stupid dog. a big mean doberman fursona with a spiky collar and a stupid hat. yknow. whatever
i think the idea of being a thrall to instinct and not having to navigate impenetrable social norms in order to have sex appeals to him. hes learned the hard way that he cant wrap his head around the intricate rituals. so its really great for his, uh. self-actualization. that he ends up with a buddy who likes to play along and makes it really, really obvious that he wants to use daniel like a dishrag
the ultimate torture, though: being a guy with a breeding kink dating a guy who gets off on edging you and stringing you out. imagine
daniel: i need to come in you so fucking bad. I need to knock you up jamie: Thats great buddy. If you come before i do im going to fucking kill you
tbh jamies standpoint on it is that he both never wants to have kids and is physically incapable of having them in the first place so daniels whole breeding kink is. like. a little oddity to him. something he feels a little conflicted about, given, you know, the gender . its a thinker
but really in the end its the ideal scenario b/c he gets to indulge daniel and play pretend with no consequences. its the same as if he was a cis dude indulging him. and tbh its worth it to see how fucking strung out it makes him. daniel sweating bullets at the idea of nutting in some big muscular hairy dude..........its neat. to him. and not to me. i dont care
its also neat to have jamie be a big ol bully about it too. all demanding and pushy. treating him like a bit of an animal about it...............whatever. insane animal style sexo while jamie doms the unholy hell out of him. sweet and sour both. Whatever
ultimately tho the goal is to nut in jamie and to do it over and over again and i think thats great for him. i think its even nicer if he accidentally comes too quick. all sweaty and desperate......poor guy.
(as an aside: jamie would never be for-real mean about his dick because - and not to be a huge fucking dyke here for a moment - your dick doesnt need to work like a pornstars b/c you dont even NEED one to have insane screaming bed-shaking sex. his fingers work just fine, right? get in there, buddy. finger your cum deeper into him. Jesus christ man)
alternatively. overstimulation. jamie using his iron thighs to keep daniel right where he is after he comes while jamie gets off. its like a punishment in its own right.....making daniel stay in place, all raw and sensitive and trembling......he would whimper. i think. cant do nothin but feel it. really really cute. stuff. i think
ok. sorry. this went a lot of places. goodbye forever

Oh, ScreenRant, do not make me do this again…
~~~
You’ve got to be kidding me.
Tumblr media
Um… we know the reason. Thanos sent him.
Tumblr media
… narrative gaps? The only gaps we’re dealing with are the ones where they’ve refused to elaborate on him being used by Thanos. They set it up and did nothing with it. That’s the only gap.
Tumblr media
Huh??? The reason is in the movie. Literally just watch the movie. He is clearly acting under orders.
Tumblr media
*trying not to explode*
A) That is MASSIVELY simplified, and barely true. He was mad at Odin, sure. He was jealous of Thor but all of his motivations in the previous movie that continued into The Avengers were about Odin. He wasn’t exactly angry with Thor, he hadn’t done anything to merit it. He was made to feel as if he hated him thanks to the scepter, but they were a magical exaggeration of his real feelings. And I’m not sure where holding NYC hostage is coming from. An attack and a hostage situation are not the same thing.
B) Even if Loki (or the Loki of this series, at least) sees the events this way, that doesn’t mean it’s accurate and should be taken as a complete explanation. There’s a difference between what a person may think and what really happened as objective fact. Again, I find it darkly amusing that whenever he tells the truth, it’s taken as a lie, and whenever he’s lying or at least just being an unreliable narrator, it’s taken as the truth, because it’s nice and simple to believe that any good things regarding him are questionable and anything that sounds bad must obviously be legit and doesn’t need critical thinking.
… he didn’t make a deal with Thanos. Need I remind what Tom once said about what happened to Loki between the first two movies? He said that in the void Loki ended up in a sort of seventh circle of hell where there were the worst sorts of villains and evil in the universe and that he had to navigate surviving that. We see clearly in The Avengers that he’s ended up having no choice but to do this for Thanos if he wants to survive. What he was thinking about was living.
A) THEORIES? Marvel confirmed on their own dang website that there was a level of influence from the scepter. The first Avengers actively shows Loki being forced to report to The Other who in turn reports to Thanos. In Infinity War they literally had Bruce say out loud that Thanos sent Loki to New York. There’s no “theories” about it.
B) Again, I wouldn’t call that teaming up with him…
C) Sure, emotions were certainly involved. He had understandable problems with his family. More than that I’d say a desire to live was the predominant emotion. But to say that he did it just because he let his emotions get the better of him? That he more or less threw a tantrum? No. Go watch Phase 1 again. When you do I think you’ll find that the inconsistencies in his character are in the recent projects.
Thess vs Greenwich Market
So. Laundry's in the dryer cycle, the last batch of cookies is cooling (I just decided to bake, like, all of them), I used the kitchen time to boil some more potatoes for potato salad and those are also cooling, so now I'm going to take a minute to explain my Adventure from yesterday. And coincidentally also explain why my feet hurt so very much.
See, there's this place in Greenwich Market called The Fudge Patch. An old friend of mine who I mostly see on Facebook these days recommended it - apparently he goes fairly regularly and last month they had a deal on delivery fees, so I tried some and I loved it. Then I discovered that some of the flavours they have in store were not available on the website - specifically, coffee fudge. Which ... well, you guys know me well enough to know I just simply had to have. So I decided to look up how one might get to Greenwich from my little chunk of London. Turns out it's not that far - only takes a couple of buses. So I decided that if I was having a not-too-bad day Saturday and if the weather was decent, I would go and get this coffee fudge.
Yesterday, as far as I could tell when I woke up, was sunny and bright and I wasn't feeling too bad. So I thought, "Great! I will go to Greenwich Market". Even checked to see if there were any pharmacies in the vicinity so I could pick up the mallet meds I needed. There were, in fact, two. (This will come into play later.) So off I went on the bus.
Decided to do the pharmacies first, and discovered that neither of these two chain pharmacies had a pharmacy counter at those outlets. I mean, I guess it might have something to do with the fact that the place is very much for tourists - the National Maritime Museum and the Cutty Sark are both there. So I sighed a little, and decided to take a quick trip to local bookstore. Bought a Neil Gaiman short story anthology and a copy of Max Brooks' World War Z (far superior to the movie, as far as I've ever been able to tell), and then went to the market.
Greenwich Market is ... squished. Cramped. Lots of lovely things in a very small space. Which was not precisely easy for me to navigate, especially since I made the tactical error of entering via the food court and an awful lot of people were standing around eating while blocking the entrance into the main market. Then I had to hobble through very small aisles between stalls. I did look at some of the pretties, but not too closely because too many people. So I decided that, while the market proper would get a decent look on some other day when we're not at the start of a bank holiday weekend, I should just get my fudge and be on my way, preferably via a pharmacy.
The shop was also small, and a lot of it was devoted to the area where the fudge slabs were sliced and stored (and also probably packaged for delivery). There were a couple of people in ahead of me and the first thing I heard from the guy running the shop (mid-60s minimum, one of those wiry guys who gets tough and leathery-looking when they get older, long hair, receding hairline, big beard, very engaging grin) was, "No, seriously, take a sample! We are happy for you to taste everything!" and talking about how even if you don't want fudge right now, and leave without buying anything, he's happy to give samples because you might think of the place the next time you want fudge, or a gift for a fudge-lover on holidays, or when you're recommending a treat to a friend. Good way to do business, frankly. So I tried some of the lemon sherbet fudge he was offering (which was really good; I decided at that moment to go for a five-slab box again, and that to be one of the five) and told him that I was very specifically there because I'd ordered some for delivery but the flavour I was most interested in wasn't available online. He asked which one, and when I told him, he went, "Oh; we will definitely rectify that!" So I might be responsible for the coffee fudge hitting the delivery list. Huzzah!
Anyway, he practically insisted that I try a sample of the coffee fudge, since I'd come there especially for it, and in the process he noticed my pin badges. As I ordered my selection (coffee, lemon sherbet, raspberry sorbet, cinnamon swirl, and peanut butter), first he said, "Decisive person; knows what they want. I like it!" and noticed my pin badges - specifically the D&D themed ones. He said he didn't play but that he was peripherally interested in the whole thing and I told him that the fudge was at least partly gaming snacks. To my utter surprise, he asked what I was throwing at my players this weekend. No stranger has ever asked me anything that specific about my gaming before. So I told him and that was a thing.
That brought us to Warhammer, and sideways into books - apparently he's at the penultimate book of the Horus Heresy. Since we were recommending books and he was almost at the end of an apparently very long series, I made a recommendation of my own - the Locked Tomb. When trying to tell him what it was about, the best I could come up with that was short enough not to be too spoilery or involved was "necromancer lesbians in space". The young woman who was packaging up fudge looked up for the first time at that point, going, "Oooh!" and the guy slammed his fist on the counter in a very Thor-like kind of way (you know, the "I like this! ANOTHER!" thing) and said, "YES. Why has no one done this before? I need this!" So I wrote down the title of the first book for him; he can get the rest from there.
Last little bit of discussion was Patrick Rothfuss, who I told him I only knew from his time on Critical Role, and described the letter he wrote to Keyleth in-character a bit. And by then, my fudge was packaged and it was time for me to be on my way. But I think he sincerely hoped I'd be back sometime. Which was nice. Either way, one of the best shopping experiences I've had in a long time.
Then I had to find a bus stop to head in a home-ward direction. This took awhile, because that particular bit of Greenwich has a lot of one-way streets. Finally found it after a bit of a walk, during which I noticed that the sky was going from sunshine and blue to dark and grey. Well, fuck. Waited a bit for the bus, and didn't notice until I was basically on it that it was only going halfway to where I needed it to go. However, it was stopping at New Cross, so there might be a pharmacy there. Even if not, there's a big Sainsbury's, and the start of a bus route that takes me past at least two pharmacies and about a block closer to home than the one I would have taken if it'd stopped at Peckham like it was supposed to. Unfortunately, it let me off a fair distance from the big Sainsbury's, and there were no pharmacies. Woe.
Stopped at the big Sainsbury's, picked up some vegetables and treated myself to a can of root beer, and waited for the bus. That's when it started to rain. "Fuck", was my only real comment to that. There is nothing more annoying than standing at the start of the route, weighed down with shopping, watching the bus driver fuck around, and knowing you can't complain because they are entitled to breaks too. Honestly, I would have just been happy enough with a bench. But nope.
Anyway, bus finally got moving, got as far as Dulwich, got off near a pharmacy, picked up my mallet meds, back to the bus stop, ten minute wait for the next bus, and finally home - tired, sore, but triumphant.
...Then I started cooking dinner, which was roast chicken. I did really well, too. First I discovered that sage and lemon balm are a nice combination of herbs to stuff into the cavity; gives a really nice flavour to the meat, especially in combination with an onion and an entire bulb of garlic. Then I discovered that whatever I did to that chicken (might have been the slight oiling and salting of the skin before I put it in the oven, or maybe the herbs, or both), it resulted in the chicken being exceptionally juicy and tender. As in, when I went to carve off a leg for dinner, the thigh bone just kind of ... fell out. So ... that was good.
Boiled up the carcass, too - onion, garlic, herbs and all. May have boiled it too long, mind you. Or maybe not; what I have is a highly concentrated stock-jelly, of sorts. I figure I do what I would do with stock cubes or those little pots of jelly stock you can get at the grocery store - water it down and heat it, and stock will ensue. Which is good, because the leftover chicken breast is going to be risotto later.
But not today. Today I have done enough, and on top of what I did yesterday, I deserve more of a break. But that's why I have so many reheatables - on days when I have simply Ceased To Can, I can stick a thing in the microwave but still have home-cooked niceness.
So that was my Adventure. The lemon sherbet fudge is already gone, sad to say. But I still have more fudge, so that's nice. No major regrets for the Adventure, but man do I hurt, especially on top of the Adulting. I mean, hell, I mopped the kitchen floor today. Which would be more impressive if the kitchen weren't the approximate size of a postage stamp, but there we are. I have leftovers and fudge and cookies, plus still a lot of my proper American Sour Patch Kids, and I will have potato salad, and eventually some chicken katsu curry and risotto and chili and...
Look, if it's going to hurt no matter what I make myself to eat, I'm going to make sure the things I'm hurting myself to make are fucking worth it.
