Listen, I love dark academia Jon as much as the next person and I 100% agree that his wardrobe consists basically of sweaters and ties and dress shirts, but...
the apocalypse outfit? You're insane if you think that that man walked all the way to the Panopticon through realms of terror in loafers. No, that bastard wore black boots and a fucking leather jacket ( Martin may have found one old and forgotten in one of the closets in the cabin and accidentally slipped it in the duffel bag, idc. And maybe, just maybe, it was a little too large for Jon).
Yes, it's also a "The Mechanisms were Jon's college band" AU, but whatever.
You can pry this hc from my cold dead hands.

Ok consider:
A new hero emerges and the Justice League watches him for a while who make sure he’s not a threat. They see this giant clumsy man who moves like he’s not used to his body, smiles goofily every time he saves someone, and is clearly inexperienced with his powers and they’re all just like. Ah. This is a child.
Except they don’t think he’s a ten year old or however old Billy is at the time, no no. Clearly this hero came into existence shortly before his first appearance, just a few months ago. They don’t know how or why but It’s not the weirdest thing they’ve seen so it’s pretty easy to believe.
But they can’t just leave this toddler with the powers of a god to stumble around and potentially hurt someone by accident, nor go down the wrong path and become a villain. So of course they decide to ‘subtly’ guide him without alerting him to the fact they’re onto him.
They introduce themselves but instead of inviting him to the league they pop by every once in a while to ‘subtly’ teach him about responsibility and power, but also about love and humanity. They try to teach him to enjoy life and that he doesn’t have to act like an adult around them, instead encouraging him to enjoy his childhood even if it’s not an ordinary one.
(Too bad the Justice League suck at subtlety.)
Billy is certain they somehow found out he’s a kid before they even met him, probably because of Batman’s freaky know-it-all powers, but he isn’t very worried as they seem nice and don’t treat him like he’s dumb or fragile. They respect him as a hero despite his age so he lets himself act like a kid around them after a while.
When he gets comfortable enough to detransform Billy thinks that’s his identity reveal. The league thinks that he magicked himself a body that’s more of a representation of his true self and fits his developmental age better, possibly as a way to blend in with humans and experience what it’s like to be a normal child. Good for him!
Basically Billy gets a bunch of super powered parents and the Justice League get a newborn man that they think they’re raising from scratch lol

Now that I'm caught up with both tma and tmagp, it's time to lose myself in the sea of fanfic. As there are over 26k fics on ao3 for magnus archives, there is no feasible way for me to go through every single one of them to see which ones I'd want to read. Because of that, I'm holding out a giant basket (this post) and asking y'all to drop your faves into it. Bonus points if it's a time travel rewrite fic, something from the scotland safehouse, or cool AUs.

some people in this fandom are going to be really disappointed when winds of winter comes out.
you guys. you cannot treat the POV characters as stepping stones for other characters/other POV characters.
the POV characters must have a fitting end according to their character arcs, themes, foreshadowing, etc.
to clarify, the POV characters chapters are about THEM. their storylines are about THEIR journey. you cannot use their hundreds of pages of character development as a brick to build the castle your fav will live in.
this is especially true for the key 5 and for the other younger POV characters. their endings have everything to do with them, they do not revolve around your fav.
us readers out-of-universe reasons for wanting x or y characters deaths does not matter. what actually matters is if you can support your theories with textual evidence from the chapters of the POV character that you want dead.

Writing TMA fanfiction as someone who has PTSD and has gone to therapy for it is always cool because you get to project a lot and help the characters healing.
Listening to TMA as someone who has PTSD and has gone to therapy for it is both cool and painful because you see the characters being traumatised and see their PTSD and be like "huh. That's normal. Anyway I'm fine, I don't need to process this" and you want to strangle them and drag them to see someone and get help.

Absolutely bonkers trying to find a fic where Nancy and Steve talk about her cheating on him in S2 and literally the whole ao3 tag besides like. Two? is filled with Steve cheating fics??? As though. He would do that???
I am a firm believer in just keep scrolling. Saying He Would Not Do That and moving on. But I find it fascinating in a frustrating way that such a fundamental and early introduced part of Steve (his extreme sensitivity to infidelity) is just. Reversed? Like I can and have forgiven a lot of characterizations I don't particularly agree with in fic. It happens in Fandom all the time. I just don't understand how you could see him in either S1 or 2 and think yeah...this guy would cheat...That's just a completely different guy for the most part at that point. Blows the mind

Since I saw an artist's rendition of Jon as a ginger I can't get it out of my head. It's perfect. Jon as a scraggly sad ginger. Martin is a fat British Indian man. Tim has Central Asian ancestry. Melanie is tiny and Swedish. Basira's family is from France. Sasha is chubby and Black. Elias is still just white middle aged management. Georgie is unidentifiably mixed race with gorgeous black hair. Daisy is literally anything but blonde
Please I'm begging you I need VARIETY

Everyone arguing about Stannis, JonCon, Jaime, god forbid Jorah being the 1000th commander of the NW….when it will be Jon again 🌚
#btw this is not stannerism like i do have legitimate reasons why i think it will be jon at the end#i think an interesting part of jon’s politiking as LC is him realizing how deep the rot is in the watch#he spends an entire book - agot - realizing that he institution he spent his childhood idolizing is not so glorious#he spends the next book directly confronting the issues that come with being a good man ( helping gilly#and being a true man to the watch and starting to notice the cracks in the system#and then asos is like the turning point you know?#adwd is him trying to fix the watch from within but failing imo because as i said the rot is far deeper#it doesnt matter how many people you replace the watch needs an overhaul - a complete uprooting to the core#which is why i dont like theories of him being a passive bystander as the watch crumbles#its just too narratively juicy if he takes a part in the destruction of the watch coz yknow some things need to be cleansed w/ fire n blood#a nice lil parallel to dany and what shell be doing in the east throughout winds#i like him as the 1000th lc because its a nice round number and thats a bit silly but its also signifying a renewal#Its a blank slate which is essential to jon because he does have a vision for the watch and the wildings!#and he can start from the ground up - and like one of the most underrated themes in jon’s arc is nation building#ive said before that i think the show kinda got it right….like we’ll see a weird mesh of lc of the nw and kbtw as jon’s endgame#I wont get into that now….but i know a lot of jon stans dont want him back at the wall because it seems needlessly cyclical and i get it#and i get that the watch isnt the most glorious place to be…but i really do think its meant to be a vehicle to explore themes of rebirth#and renewal which appear in jon’s arc -think of jon’s messianic framing and the watch being his “new earth” after all is said and done#not so much a place of punishment but a place to find new meaning and exist beyond many societal frameworks#for the cripples bastards and broken things….anywayyyyy lmaoo#asoiaf#jon snow

JE week day 3 (for the prompts "sick" and "confession")! Which is also today. Please don't look at you calendars. Anyway this one is much shorter than previous. Warning for second-hand embarrassment I guess? Sorry Jon you're just so bulliable. Fic under the cut.
(Edit I forgot to re-italicize everything lmao. So if you saw a version of this where nothing was in italics uhhhh no you didn't. Also added some other stuff cause this baby needed some editing)
"Elias Bouchard speaking," "Hello. This is Jon." A moment. "Erm- Jon Sims." Idiot. He already knows who you are! "Ah, Jon, good morning. To what do I owe the pleasure?" Elias sounded genuinely warm, like he was actually happy to hear from them. Something light and fuzzy bloomed in their chest. Their head felt blanketed in fog. What were they going to say? "Jon?" Right. Calling out sick. They had a plan that they had practiced over and over again in their head. Stick to the script. "I-I've come down with a cold, I think," their voice sounded rough and scratchy, even to their own ears. "I don't think I'll be able to come in today." "You do sound rather under the weather," there was the faint sound of computer keys clacking in the background. Elias himself seemed nonplussed at the news, which was probably a good sign. Still, barely two months into their important new job and already calling out sick… best to be clear that he wasn't slacking off. "I apologize, I know it must be inconvenient. I assure you that I'll be in to work as soon as possible, a-and-" Their words were rushing out of his mouth, tripping over each other in Jon's desperate need to make themselves understood. Elias mercifully cut them off. "Jon, if you're calling out sick, I'm assuming the situation is dire. Please, take as much time as you need. I'll inform the others that you're not feeling well." Elias sounded so terribly fond Jon was sure they were projecting their own fluttering nonsense onto him. After a brief pause, he added, "And please do make sure that you actually get some rest. Now, will that be all?" "I- thank you. Yes… that- that should be everything." "Alright. Get well soon, Jon." And then, in their cold-fogged brain, some stupid holdover instinct from their relationship with Georgie woke from its years long slumber to fire off "I love you." There was a moment of horrible, echoing silence as they both sat with the words Jon had allowed to leave their mouth. Then, with desperate finality, Jon ended the call.
(A few minutes later their phone vibrated. Jon pulled it out, handling it with all the careful fear of a snake handler holding an angry cobra.
It was a text. From Elias.
While flattering, I assume that's not what you meant to say?
Another vibration, and another message on the screen.
It's alright. Happens to everyone. Best of luck with your recovery and please do let me know if you need anything.)

There is a lesson for Jon to learn from Kon and Kenan about carrying legacies, holding up Superman's name, and still be your person. Kon, similar to Jon, was expected, more specifically, made to carry Superman's name following the disappearance of Superman, but he doesn't. Older than Jon and he lets himself figure out what kind of person/ hero he wants to be whilst bear the Hero name of Superboy.
As for what Jon could learn from Kenan, Kenan is one of the least likely to have Superman's legacy, yet he does and became better person as a result. Jon and Kenan are similar because they are the other two who carry Superman's name. However, they differ in how people saw them during the start of their journey as Superman. Everyone, including Clark, assumed Jon was gonna be Superman. As for Kenan, no one did, he was a bully and a big jerk. Like I said, least likely to have Superman's legacy.
As their stories continue on, Kenan became a better person which resulted in him becoming a better hero. He surpassed the expectations of others, like what kind of hero he should be, as well as himself, what kind of person he truly wants to be. As for Jon, being Superman hinders actual growth for himself. What he has been doing is thinking 'What would Superman do?' and not 'What kind of hero should I be/ What would I do?'
Jon is on the journey that Kenan had, that Kon had, so it would be insightful for Jon to learn from the two other people close in proximity to him who had past experience to the struggles he currently faces.
I'll put a much more personal note for the end of this post. I genuinely question why Kon, Kenan, and Jon were not written a story where they grew close and share their thoughts about their current circumstances. As of writing this post, they appear friendly with another but that differs from how deep their bonds could be. A very big miss opportunity.
