Even though I find this moment to be very cool, I worry that Daniel might create more enemies for himself and I hope he doesn't kill anyone then spiral into long-term guilt like James Lee.

Let’s talk about the changed between white book laena to black show laena

Book leana had a pretty awesome life. She married at the age of 22 to a man she loved, traveled the world with him, had 2 babies and they lived happily on driftmark with her family together until she passed away at childbirth despite her loving husband doing everything he can to save her. + her husband remarried 6 months after her death.

Now let’s talk about show leana

She married daemon much younger than book laena, was neglected and unloved by him, was forced to live away from her beloved family and burned herself to death because “feminism” 🤡 only to have her husband sleep with another woman on her fucking funeral. And the showrunners claim they wanted to respect her character?????? Disgusting.

In the book laena is the only wife that daemon seemed to truly love. (Until nettles). He never cheated and they had a happy marriage. But when she’s black suddenly she’s the second choice to the white female lead. What a fucking joke. And then they absolutely spit on her by having her husband sleep with said white female main character on her funeral. This show treats its black characters like shit. I really don’t understand why people aren’t talking about this.

This shows deranged fandom tells you everything you need to know about the problematic way they treat black characters. We haven’t even got nettles’s casting yet. The most important dragon seed. Literally who gives a shit about the others? But I wonder why we have their castings but not the casting of the only canonically black character in the dance???? If nettles is not in season 2 I’m going to drop this show. If they’ll introduce the dragonseeds without nettles they are fucking disgusting.

All of this is why I criticize this shitty show and equally shitty fandom👏🏽

People try to act like you’re the crazy one for noticing how these changes affect the treatment of the characters, but nope fandom racism, more specifically fandom misogynoir, is real and it’s happening with HOTD.

Book!Laena was treated with love and respect, but the moment she became Black-ish she became worthless to both the showrunners and the fandom. All she's good for is to be a prop/placeholder. Hell, when she died people seemed more concerned about Vhagar, a dragon, rather than the woman who lit herself on fucking fire.

They made Laena into a stereotype just to make a crazed white woman’s death look better than it was and this demented ass fandom cheers it on.

Because she’s Black and not a cookie-cutter stereotype in the source material, Nettles' whole existence is a problem to these people and she must be cut, erased, reduced, etc.

They try to say she’s completely irrelevant. That the only reason people like her is because she's Black or out of spite, but I can think of a dozen white characters who don’t even come close to reaching her relevancy to the plot

This is why she’s always included where some characters like Ulf, Hugh, Sara Snow, Alys Rivers, Gwayne Hightower, and Silver Denys are omitted, and 5/6 of those characters are confirmed for s2. And I'm not trying to say none of these characters shouldn't be included(well we could do without 2 of them), but they aren't more important than her.

Nettles literally has all the qualities people usually like in characters(the ordinary girl who despite all odds does the unthinkable, she’s a survivor, she’s a final girl, she has one of if not the most powerful men in the realm willing to die for her, and she becomes a goddess like figure) yet she’s hated for it because she dares to be Black. They won't even try to relate to her or see her importance because she is Black.

They’d rather prop up psychos or mediocre flops just because they are white rather than ever admit that Nettles is an interesting and integral character to the Dance. She’s awesome. The man who created these freaking books that you claim to love and swear his word is law thinks she’s awesome and yet you want to deny that she’s awesome and has no real value because you’re scared shitless she’ll upstage your psycho(book!Missy Anne)/boring(show!Missy Anne) fave.

It’s nuts and like you, I won’t be watching s2 if Netty’s not there. They found time for a maid who shouldn't even be there, propped up Addam to the Gods, and gave Hugh an unnecessary sex scene, all while cutting Nettles out. Nope. I’ll skip straight to s3 cause I’m not dealing with this show's BS and blatant disrespect. It’s unacceptable!

Is it too late to request your All of Us Strangers rant? How much did you cry when watching it???

I cried 0 (zero) times. I looked like this tbh.

It was a stale, “gay is okay,” storyline a la “Love Simon,” that would’ve made a bigger impact had it released 10 or 15 years ago. To that end, it felt more like a gay movie for a straight audience. Sure there were boundaries pushed, but rather than anything meaningful, it felt like hollow attempts at pandering.

The novel the movie is loosely based on, “Strangers” by Taichi Yamaha, has a similar plot about a lonely writer who visits his childhood home to find residents that look eerily similar to his late parents, who perished in a car accident when he was 12. Convinced they are real, he revisits them often with gifts and offerings. While his parents are free of malicious intent, his girlfriend suggests they may be unintentionally sucking the life force out of him. Despite recognizing that his declining health is a result of the unnatural balance of the living consorting with the dead, he can’t help but continue to return to his parents.

While the novel and movie explore similar themes of grief, the supernatural, and reconciliation, there are little more than those similarities. I don’t mind the change of tone and artistic liberties the movie took from the novel; I lament missed opportunities for critical cultural storytelling.

How many more gay white man coming out or coming of age movies do we need?

Deriving the movie from a novel written by a Japanese man, this could’ve, and I argue it should’ve, been done with an Asian cast. It should’ve explored queer culture from a point of view seldom seen or talked about. It should’ve explored Eastern themes of homophobia, the struggles of family from the Eastern collectivist culture mindset, and what that looked like in the 80s. Especially how embarrassing and messily they shoehorned in with the briefest of mentions of the AIDS crisis, which, low-key key, I thought was offensive.

Speaking of messy, the damn logic of the movie is barely there. Is Adam seeing ghosts, or is it a pocket dimension of the past? We see him pass his house in the beginning, the daughter of the owner staring out the window, but later, his late father comes and takes him back to the house, so it is more like a pocket dimension. Later, Adam and his parents went to a modern restaurant, and the waitress couldn’t see his parents, so were they ghosts? There are so many moments like this where the universe's rules are broken unto themselves.

Oh, Jesus, and that reminds me of the bullshit twist with Harry. So he’s been dead the whole time, yet he can give Adam drugs that Adam physically feels in the club? He can order drinks at the bar so other people can see him, and he can levitate objects? He can interact with other living humans, and no one is the wiser he’s dead? He can see the ghosts of Adam’s parents, and they see him, but neither knows the other is dead? It's dumb and lazy writing. And what? What’s the moral once we discover he died after Adam turned him away? “You never know the battle other people are fighting” or some variation of an empty platitude? I say it again, 👏🏽dumb 👏🏽lazy 👏🏽hollow 👏🏽PAN👏🏽DER👏🏽ING. If you wanted audience sympathy, write your characters better. Write their struggle better. This easy way out of killing a character is so early in the 2000s that I couldn’t believe how utterly devoid it made the final movie feel.

To that end, there were so many more plot holes it was like looking at Swiss cheese. Or so many boring, obvious filler shots of Adam looking pensive as if reflecting on something profound. I think my eyes did a somersault how far they rolled back into my head.

I’ve already spent too much time writing this, but here’s the takeaway. The magic of media and the human experience is that we can consume the same thing and walk away with polar opposite takes. I’m no media expert, just a humble consumer. My opinion is my own just as much as anyone else’s is theirs. If they felt something that pulled at their heartstrings, I love that for them! The human experience is to connect with others, tap into deeper meaning, understanding, and form connections. But no media is above criticism; to me, it doesn’t meet that mark, and that’s okay.

In the dawn of today’s AI age, where studios are fighting to create devoid of creation by using AI images, voice bots and audio, actors’ images, and scripts, I feel it’s more important than ever to develop a sense of literacy and criticism. In our current political climate, it’s crucial to demand more opportunities for marginalized groups to have their voices heard and their stories seen. I believe in demanding better rather than settling for mediocrity. I do not suffer fools, and I pay no time to pander, so personally, I wish I remained a stranger to this movie and all its wasted potential.

I've seen ghosts, I've seen spirits, I'm pretty sure I've seen a fairy (Idc idc I believe fairies and mermaids are real), I've come in contact with incubus/succubus, I definitely had interactions with demons or low vibrational spirits in my home (they know their place now and to not fuck with me), interactions with deities or my ancestors ofc (things being moved around or them accepting food/drink offerings), I dreamed of celebrities that died, I had electronics turn on or make sounds when there was no batteries in it, I have astral projected unintentionally quite a few times, something got pushed off a shelf right in front of me at a store but no one was there, etc. The most recent experience I had was my TV was making static when it was turned off after I attempted to do a reading on a celebrity's future spouse and that invited a trickster spirit in my home, I was not having it 💀. I cleansed my house and did protection spells so quickly lol.

I really said that I was going to work on this chapter review but I didn't do it until a few days after the chapter has been posted online... Woops, my bad. (My posts will be queued for now, so I didn't post this CURRENTLY. Sorry in advance if I randomly post at around 4 in the morning or something.) UMMMM… HELLO??? I stg, if he's referring to Goo... 😭 But oh man, if he were to replace Goo, I wonder how Gun is going to react. And I already heard ab the rumors going around, regarding to what PTJ mentioned before. Even the thing about someone's death, and whatnot. Yes, I know man. 💀 But in all honesty, this Charles Choi arc though... I like it so far. Minus... the death and Charles Choi himself because it's a catalyst for an event that'll happen in the future. Also, yes Charles, you piece of shit. Jichang won't ever think of joining you lol. Even if he agreed, what is there to benefit if he were to side with you? 😀

I don't think anyone has commented on what Charles Choi said about Jichang being a strategist, and he's right about that. Unlike many fighters, I noticed how Jichang is very meticulous when it comes to fighting. He assesses his opponents, like where to properly attack and he notes their weak points and people's most vulnerable spots to aim at, which makes his Battle I.Q. much bigger in comparison to the other First Generation Kings, who just fight with a passionate drive with fists during their fights. (Reminds me of current Daniel.) He's very clever too, and that's one of the reasons why I like Jichang's character.

I'm talking about Book! Daemon:

As someone who is not Daemon Stan I say that book! Daemon really and genuinely loved Nettles; I don't buy it Nettles was her daughter. why in the hell he would choose a bastard over his true born children.

Their goodbye didn't seem platonic at all, it looked like two lovers separating because of the circumstances.

In real life, some men tend to choose their second wives instead of their children and that is Daemon.

Was he selfish? Yes, a selfish husband and father; yet we can see he is capable of genuine care and love and that is the beauty of morally grey characters.

I did know nothing of Fire and Blood and honestly I thought Daemon died for Nyra, but I was wrong, he died because he saw no reason to live and his reason to live was Nettles...

I believe his reason to live used to be Laena and by re-reading your Daemon and Laena fic, Daelaena's conversation and how vulnerable Daemon sounds: he couldn't live without Laena and I remember in another fic( A Baela and Aegon fic) where the authors have made a interesting analysis of book! Daemon and I remember they used to describe Daemon as a cruel man, darkness and stuff but with Laena and his daughters.

Within the sanctuary of their home, Daemon was a simple man, a happy man and if the writers hadn't been cowards(and racists) we would have seen Daemon as happy and content.

He was away from politcs, he couldn't have the throne, but at least he could choose a wife.

then that happy man died when Laena died and shit went down.

With Nettles he was happy and stuff but soon reality hit and Daemon realized he was tired to fight.To live

It is supper messed up, but when Daemon loves he is just that type of man who prioritizes certain people and says screw the rest. He had that at first with Laena(the showrunners were so wrong for what they did and that’s why I had to write that fix-it fic). Lost that and found it again with Nettles and then lost that(and yes it broke him; leaving poor ugly little ole Nettles broke him).

Again it’s messed up how he eventually ghosted his family because he had to leave Nettles, but at the same time, it’s what in large part makes him morally gray.

Funnily enough, this same dynamic happens with another famous Targaryen man(except he was a total flop who got both his wife and his mistress killed), yet he’s praised for it and people worship that ship…

So people do not mind the grayness. People want Daemon to be gray, but they just don’t like the people(if Nettles looked like Lyanna…) and circumstances that make him gray. They'd rather lie than admit what actually happens.

(Which is stupid because this is all fictional. It's supposed to be fun, none of this should matter, but you guys are really killing the mood when you bring in your real-life biases).

The King's Affection Ep 13-14 Thoughts

1. Jung Ji-un. This man deserves major praise. He really has become one of my favorite kdrama characters. Throughout the show, it's been proved how selfless he is and how he always puts Dami first. She has just revealed a major secret to him, that she is in actuality, not a man, but a woman – and honestly speaking, anyone would be extremely shocked if they were in Ji-un's place. Because yes, this is shocking to him from a lover's standpoint because he had fallen for a man but it's also shocking as a subject who has now discovered that the Crown Prince of Joseon isn't even a prince, but a princess. And he doesn't freak out (at least, he does a good job at not showing it). He puts any questions, concerns, etc. aside, takes like 10 seconds to process, then just moves on by taking care of her wound and gathering wood to start a fire. And I love the way Ji-un handled the conversation between him and Dami after he had taken some time to think for himself (that also stood out to me – he didn't act confrontational by bombarding her with questions or run away, he simply took some time by himself to think and when she approached him, he welcomed her company). I enjoyed that he made no dismissive comments about his feelings towards her when he thought she was a man. He apologized for not realizing the truth sooner, not because he was sorry for having feelings for a man, but because him knowing that she was a woman might have made it easier on her and she'd have someone to confide in and one less person to have her guard up around and make an effort to hide her secret in front of. His thoughts about the whole situation had nothing to do with his personal feelings but how Dami felt. His reassuring clarification that "nothing has changed for me. It is you that I am looking at. And that is all I need." made it ever better. And also him assuring her that she doesn't owe him an explanation?? I just loved him even more. He understands that her predicament is clearly complicated and has been extremely hard on her, and that is all he needs to know. He doesn't ask for any reason or explanation for anything. Her being with him now is enough.

2. Honestly, I could write entire essays about Jung Ji-un but I won't. I'm moving on...to Kim Ga-on. To be honest, even though they've given us small glimpses into his life and his father, I still feel as though I don't know him very well. But I desperately want to!!! He's such a mysterious and complicated character, I can't help but be intrigued by him. I'm hoping in the next set of episodes, we can get a proper dive into who he is. I want the whole run-down👏🏽

3. Okay I know I said I'd stop talking about Ji-un but that tree cuddle scene??? This casual talking of what their future together will be like??? My heart is melting...

4. Okay when Yoon Hyeong-Seol (had to look up his character name lol) was tied up and did that water trick I was like YES MY MAN. And when Hyun walked in??? MY OTHER MAN

5. Ji-un getting Hwi an outfit to match his? Coincidence? I think not. Man wrote a fancy quote on a piece of parchment as a grand metaphor for his loyalty and gratitude. Jung Ji-un is not above couple outfits.

6. Who was Dami in her past life and whose bad side did they get on because her life sucks. First her family tries to kill her for being a girl so she lives out in the mountains as an orphan, then her home burns down and she becomes a palace maid, then her brother dies, has to say goodbye to her first love/childhood friend, is forced to live her brother's life as the crown prince, her mother dies, and now her father too?? Homegirl can't catch a break. If she doesn't get a happy ending I'm wreaking havoc.

7. UGHHHHHH. Ji-un coming into the palace after losing Dami. Literally just the day before they were talking about moving in together and cooking meals and whatnot and now their love is even more impossible than it was before and even though he's begging her to leave the palace with him, he just keeps looking at her wound and points out that it's not fully healed and asks to tend to it. At the end of the day, she is his number one priority no matter what. I so feel for Dami here though because she looks so pained (more so than when she was wounded) because she so badly wants to be with Ji-un. Props to Park Eunbin because even though she did have dialogue here, she didn't have to say anything for me to know exactly what she was feeling. This yearning, sad, almost scared look in her eyes said it all. Because she wants nothing more than to leave the palace with Ji-un but leaving means that her Court Lady and Eunuch and Ji-un will suffer the consequences and the thought of that happening is much worse. Which leads me to...

8. I hate evil grandfather. How dare he threaten my dearest court lady and precious eunuch and favorite historical himbo. This show better end with him getting the karma he deserves.

9. Poor Queen. I feel for her. I really do. At least with Hyun, he's accepted that him and Dami can't be together and that his feelings won't be reciprocated and why. Poor Queen is completely clueless.

10. And also...other Queen...as in Dami's mother. DID SHE HAVE NO PLAN FOR THE DAY WHEN DAMI BECOMES KING AND HAS TO PRODUCE AN HEIR??? WHY DID NO ONE PLAN FOR THIS DAY??? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Dami found a loophole but didn't they often blame inability to conceive on the mother? The Queen is either going to tell someone the King has been refusing her or she'll get severely punished or condemned. Either way...both are not exactly fun options.

11. Also when Ji-un holds Dami when she was almost caught by the guards and she leans into his chest for a moment before breaking away😭

12. I want Dami and Ji-un to be free to pursue their love but Hyun is right. It most likely will not end well and they will both get hurt in the end. I hate that he had to say that, but I also really admire him for it. At the end of the day, he too, prioritizes Dami over everything else. I know some people blame Ji-un for too boldly pursuing Dami in the palace knowing how dangerous it could be for her if they get caught which is why they like Hyun more, but the situation is very different for the both of them and I don't think it can be compared. I'm team Dami/Hwi x Ji-un all the way, but don't get me wrong, I love Hyun. But the difference between Hyun and Ji-un is that Dami actually returns Ji-un's feelings. Even if the situation was different and they could be together, they still wouldn't be since Dami doesn't have any romantic feelings for Hyun. However, Dami does care for Ji-un romantically and Ji-un knows that. If Hyun were in Ji-un's place, he might be as bold as him in pursuing his feelings. If it's hard for one person to hold back their love for another person, it's also very hard for two people to hold back their love for each other knowing that the feelings are mutual but they aren't allowed to act on it. I'm not invalidating Hyun's feelings or saying that Ji-un is being wise by pursuing Dami which could compromise her safety, but they're both in love with her and want to protect her and do that in different ways. Hyun protects her by making sure her secret is kept, Ji-un protects her by staying by her side. And Dami is making her own choices here too. She knows the price if she gets caught as well but takes the risk.

13. Dami is so good at investigating matters and rooting out injustice. She would be a great leader. Too bad everyone is sexist and tried to kill her and will likely try to kill her again🙄

14. Love is blind. No, like actually. This is the second time Dami & Ji-un be having a romantic moment in public while being watched by someone and they didn't see a THING.

15. Good job Ji-un's dad. You caught your son making out with the girl whose brother you killed while trying to kill her.

16. Preview's got me hyped for many reasons. Kim Ga-on finding out the King is a woman?? Ji-un getting jealous?? Secret palace dating?? Ji-un maybe hopefully getting closer to finding out Hwi is Dami?? (actually, no, I don't think I want that. I really liked that Dami herself got to tell Ji-un her first secret. I'd like it if she got to tell him her second one too) Ji'un's dad tryna kill Dami?? He better not...

Infiltrator - Artemis and Jade’s introductory episode; first time the concept of a mole is brought up, and it wasn’t who we were expecting

This could hint at the possibility of Onyx being a mole who successfully infiltrated the team (possibly against her will; I doubt she’s a sleeper agent like Will, but she did mention being related to someone, so she might be doing this to protect/save them)

Targets - Will and Kaldur team up to “protect” Luthor from Jade and Sportsmaster; Kaldur learns about the mole; we learn Luthor and Ra’s teamed up to deceive the heroes; Sportsmaster uses “broken arrow” to extract secrets from Will

Onyx/the LoS/the Light might be playing Artemis like Luthor and Ra’s played Will and Kaldur

Homefront - Robin and Artemis fight Red Inferno and Red Torpedo (who hacks Tornado, becoming the mole red herring); we learn that Jade and Artemis are sisters

Tornado was just a red herring for the real mole, so is Onyx also a red herring?

Insecurity - Artemis feels insecure after learning her mom begged the JL to make her a hero; Artemis purposely throws a mission to hide the truth of her family from everyone; Will (the mole) joins the team; Will and Jade’s first kiss

If Onyx is a mole, she might join the team

There’s a lot of emphasis on Jade and Will’s relationship in this list, which gives me hope that something good (or not bad, at the very least) will happen between them; maybe Jade will finally come home? (Or maybe it’s the exact opposite, and Jade will die*/stay away)

(*this wouldn’t make sense if the theory that the S1 team will be picked off one by one/given “invitations” to join the Legion is true)
