We're taking Carentan. It's the only place where armor from Omaha and Utah Beach can link up and head inland. Until we take Carentan, they're stuck on the sand. General Taylor's sending the whole division."

Some of the men began to grumble under their breath. Everyone started to stir to gather their gear to begin the journey to Carentan.

Walking in a file formation on each side of the road to Carentan. You found yourself walking in front of Toye as Perconte proceeded you.

You rush to two soldiers landing on your knees next to them, one on the ground with a trail of blood coming from his helmet, the other crouching over him.

"He's still breathing, help me carry him!" You call out. You each grab an arm of the injured soldier and drag him behind a building.

While you're working on the nameless soldier's head wound, a drug store gets blasted by German artillery not far from where you were, the force from the explosion sending you sideways into the brick wall next to you.

You shake your head to stop the ringing in your ears. Everything you could hear was distant as your vision became fuzzy and dark. You start to smack your ear trying to make it pop so you can get back to your senses.

“Y/L/N! We gotta move! Get up!” Toye’s muffled voice yelled out.

He grabbed you by the arm pulling you up to your feet. You still couldn’t barely see so you held onto his arms for dear life.

“I-I can’t see nothin’ Joe!” You called out to him.

His face lights up when he saw you walking up.

“Hey there she is!” Guarnere hailed.

Bill met you and extended his hand for you to shake, which you obliged.

“Good to see you, Bill.”

“Glad to see you up and about, doll.” He pulled you in closer, “Someone’s been real worried about you since they left you at the aid station, by the way.” He disclosed.

You pull back and met Bill’s face with confusion. He winked and motioned over to Toye with his chin.

Gustavo: He likes it! He thinks it's very well written. The Noise made it seem like he was actually taking down the tower! And no stupid rats got hurt in the process. Bravo!

Mr. Stick: What? They filmed a movie, and he didn't get a part in it? He's miffed! They replaced his role with Noisette! Ridiculous! However, he must admit, it came out quite nice.

Pepperman: He's a little upset that he had to seem weak. He was happy that his art got good recognition, but his ego is quite bruised. Whatever, it paid well, so it was worth it to him.

The Vigilante: He doesn't like that he had to let The Noise beat him, but... He got a nice chunk of cash from it. This'll last him a while and help him take care of the farm. He's a bit worried that the movie will make him seem weak and that criminals will target him.

The Noise: He's ecstatic! The movie was a hit! He was already rich, but now he's even RICHER! Everyone acted perfectly. The writing went smoothly. He's incredibly happy with the end result and ratings.

Noisette: She had a blast being in the movie! She was so happy that Noisey-poo let her give him affection on camera! He's usually such a punk. She's happy that the movie was highly reviewed. It was a tiring process, though.

Fake Peppino: Movie? What's a movie? He doesn't know what a movie is. Is that why Noise yelled at him when he was chasing him? That was so scary! He was just trying to play!

Pizzahead: He's glad the movie was a hit, but... he feels like he seems weak. He secretly wanted to fight The Noise and win, but he had to lose on purpose or he wouldn't get paid. The money was worth it, though.

Pillar John: He got a huge part in the movie, but if he were to be resurrected, he'd have to dress like The Noise. He was willing to do so. He was paid incredibly well for doing practically nothing.

Gerome: Wait, why did The Noise just give him a wad of cash? A movie? What movie? He thought The Noise had finally lost his mind. Is that why John was dressed up like The Noise? Cool. Money in his hand.

I've waited until today to write my thoughts on Death Note: The Musical because I've been so exhausted from being in London and generally just collecting my thoughts on the show (had a good post-show drink with my friend in the pub to talk about it last night).

But now I have a free moment to go on Tumblr and splurge, I have to summarise by saying: WOW. WHAT. A. SHOW!!!!

I had such a blast watching it; I think I was grinning pretty much throughout the whole thing. Every song is brilliant (I've been listening to them on repeat all of today), the actors are mega talented with amazing voices, and it's a really INTERESTING (wink!) adaptation of the anime I love so much.

It wasn't without its flaws, that's for sure. My main gripe was perhaps the ending, as it felt a little rushed and out of character for L, but given that one musical would never be able to cover the full story of the anime or manga, they did a great job considering what they had to work with, and it was always going to be a condensed version of the story we know.

My main highlights:

Rem was an unexpected delight! She looked stunning, resembling a white angel next to Ryuk's pure blackness, and the actress' voice was GORGEOUS.

Ryuk, of course. Adam Pascal nailed this role, both the comedic and dark elements of his character, and like Rem, he LOOKED perfect.

John Dean-Wilson was an AMAZING L, just as I expected. His interpretation was slightly more unhinged than anime/manga L, and I honestly loved that. His mannerisms were on point and every song of his was memorable.

My favourite song and scene in the whole musical was definitely 'Playing His Game' which was sung DURING L AND LIGHT'S TENNIS MATCH. That entire number gave me chills and summed up their dynamic perfectly. I'll be playing this song over and over again for weeks.

But yeah, as you can tell, I LOVED THIS MUSICAL, and really hope I get an opportunity to see it again at some point. <3

An Interview with My Chemical Romance

In today's NJ scene many successful bands have come out, and many more new bands continue to come out with their unique styles in their own way. But I'm not sure if NJ is ready for what has just came into the scene. What was once laid dormant is now iridescent. Their style of music is exhilarating; with their chaotic melodies and hard driven beats. This one of a kind style caught the eye of "Eyeball Records", and their new found success will surely blow you away. Their stage performance is astonishing. I haven't seen anything like it before. The exuberance in people's faces that will astound you. The maniacal screams that fill the air transcend into your mind leaving you speechless. Who else can I be talking about? No other than My Chemical Romance. These five chaotic, rogue, guys will surely transcend in the NJ scene.

Gerard: It was a lot of fun, you know. Thanks for the crowd, they made it easier for me, being in the condition I am in. It felt great, it felt really awesome. It felt like home up there.

Matt: I had a blast, I couldn't hear anything except guitar and vocals, but it was very high in scream, but it was great.

Ray: I'm just really proud of Gerard, for just going up there, it was a real break through. It's like going up there with no fingers on your hands as a guitarist ya know, it was incredible.

How did you come up with your band name "My Chemical Romance"?

Gerard: It was all Mikey.

Mikey: I was at work one day, and someone left Irvine Welsh books, and on the back of one, it was talking about his genre, "Chemical romance." And we added the "my" and there ya go.

Gerard: Then Mikey, had this name and he wasn't even in the band, and we were like we need that fucking name dude.

Ray: So that's how we got Mikey in the band , we used him for his name. Haha, no no, now he's a fucking awesome bass player.

Gerard: This kid picked up the bass.

Ray: Fucking 6 months.

Gerard: Not even that! Since January he's been with us, so wait... yeah we have been together 6 months.

Is this your first interview?

Gerard: No this is our second interview. Our first interview was with "SnaggleZine," Kim and Chris who are interns for Eyeball [records], they did ourfirst interview in Garfield at a show. They asked us questions about Disney character's and stuff, it was fun.

Any new stuff coming out , that I should know of?

Gerard: July 23,2002, "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love." It's on Eyeball Records, it was recorded at Nada Studios with Geoff Rickly, John Naclerio, Alex Saavedra producing. It was really hard for me to make this album , I had a lot of problems and hospital visits.

What do you mean Hospital visits?

Gerard: I was in the hospital 5 times during recording, and I saw 7 doctors and they couldn't figure out what I had. If I had a "stroke" or facial nerve paralysis, they gave me a Catscan, ended up being a fucking tooth. It was driving me so insane, I was fucking delirious, and these people here saw me in the hotel one night.

Frank: Ha ha yeah, spit was coming out of his mouth and he was laughing maniacally, it was fucking great.

How does it feel to be on Eyeball?

Gerard: It's fucking amazing, we love it, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. So many great bands, and there's so many great bands coming out like Sleep Station.

Frank: Little Joe Could, there new album is fucking sick.

Ray: A lot of good stuff is coming out, I'm glad to be a part of it.

Frank how does it feel to be a new band member of My Chemical Romance, after the break up of Pencey Prep? How do you feel?

Frank: It's like your a fan of a band and one day they ask you to be in it and you get to be a part of it. I'm like a fucking kid up on stage, it's like the fucking shit.

Gerard: Having him up there I felt so complete, and that's why it made it so much easier, it felt like all like a fucking unit, like another person to throw out energy, it was fucking incredible, I love it.

Frank, I have to ask you about your hair, what the fuck is up with your hair?

Frank: It was suppose to be dread locks, but I'm a white kid so it's just there. It's fucking itchy and sucks.

So when are you going to shave your head?

Frank: I have a horrible shaved head, it comes into a cone.

Gerard: Ha ha, his hair is fuck'n great.

Ray: Like really.

Frank: I think that's the only reason they asked me to be in the band.

Gerard: Mikey is trying the James Dean hair, I'm trying the wolverine hair, it's working.

Mike why don't you ever eat?

Gerard: When he was a kid he was so fat.

Mikey: But I eat food though.

Ray: He eats Pizza Hut, he eats Popeyes.

Gerard: Century Buffet, I was there and this kid here ate a lot, if the kid wants to eat he eats.

Mikey: I ate my weight in sushi today.

Gerard: Like this kid just dropped so much weight one day and now he's skinny as hell. I use to be like 250 pounds.

Frank: We were all fat kids at once, we were all fucking fat.

Gerard: It's good now.

Ray: See how Matt's staying quiet.

Matt: Shut up, I'm 250

DreamWorks4Me

If you've seen the news, DreamWorks as a studio is going through a huge change. They're going to start outsourcing every movie from now on and laying off almost 50% of their staff.

This makes me really sad for them and their legacy, so I wanted to share with you my fondest memories of their movies. Feel free to do the same!:

I didn't have a The Road to el Dorado copy while growing up. My best friend and neighbor had one and we would have an afternoon snack in her home, watch The Road... and then play. This was one of the two movies we rewatched the most.

I've always loved Chicken Run. I had this huge poster of it, but threw it away when I had a nightmare where the chickens started jumping from it. I still think it's Aardman's best movie and the one with the best soundtrack (which was also my introduction to both Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell!).

I sort of remember how Shrek knocked it out the park. There was a before and an after in animated movies.

While a lot of people say it's a bad movie, I kinda like Sinbad. The adventure, the character design, the places and Eris, of course.

I like Puss since his first appearance in Shrek 2.

I really like Over the Hedge. The music is great and the concept interesting. I remember reading the actual comic strips in the Sunday newspaper and I still have some of them.

While Shrek the Third is not that good, I really liked Artie for some reason. That's why one of the characters from my book Gotxinka is called Artii!

I wasn't much interested in Kung Fu Panda at the beginning, but it grew on me. One afternoon, the second and third movies were on TV, so I watched the first one and then put the other two on TV, binge watching the three!

How to train your dragon was the movie that helped me out of my depression and got me into cosplaying, drawing fancomics and writing fanfiction. And also got me into watching almost everything in English.

I love Megamind and will be forever mad I couldn't watch in on cinemas.

I know people don't like it much, but I find the Puss in Boots movie enjoyable.

I really liked Rise of the Guardians and it's a pity they didn't make more stuff with those characters. I almost cosplayed Toothiana, but did a casual version of her instead.

I couldn't watch The Croods in cinemas either, but I watched it in English a while after and fell in love with it! It's so creative and the relationship of Guy and Eep is so sweet.

I did my hair like Astrid to watch HTTYD2. That version of her outfit is my favorite cosplay of her.

And, of course, Riders of Berk were the first series I watched in full English. I didn't have Netflix when Race to the Edge aired, so I would get up early to watch someone streaming it and I had a blast. I didn't know if I should watch Trollhunters, but I saw a video with Kelsey Grammer and I'm so glad I gave it a try! The show helped me in one of my lowest moments (like HTTYD had done years before).

Again back to my last EOA post, and a comment I saw on a repost of it, I am 1000000% on board with the idea of the whole plot of Elena of Avalor, and some of the things in it, being a whole metaphor for Elena trying to keep herself from being driven to insanity aka becoming an evil dictator. Based on the personal research I’ve done, and connecting the dots to Elena’s character, I’ve noticed some key things in the show that sort of represent many “symptoms” of what a “clinically insane” person goes through.

Elena witnessed her own parents death right in front of her eyes. This alone should be traumatizing enough, but not even like 5 minutes later, Shuriki blasts her, but the amulet pulled her inside of it to save her. (Or at least, I like to think she did die, but her soul was sucked into the amulet, thus her possessing it, Five Nights At Freddy’s style). Elena is now sitting in the amulet, in what I think was a sort of state like Locked In Syndrome? Because when she did get out the amulet in Secret Of Avalor, she looked like she was sleeping, AND she forgot how to walk, hell even move around. So I think since she was in there for so long, she started “fusing” with the amulet, thus falling into a sort of coma, but still highly aware of whats going on around her + outside the amulet, but thats besides my point. She spends 40+ years, isolated from the world, with no one to talk to, no source of brain stimulation, no form of movement, just NOTHING. Shes trapped in a void. (*Void by Melanie Martinez starts playing*). Now looking at irl facts, there is no absolute way Elena didnt go insane in the amulet.

Looking at neuroscience, and the world of EOA, we can see the way Elena interacts with the world, and apply those statistics to Elena herself. In an article from The Royal Society Publishing, The Article titled “Perceived Social Isolation, Evolutionary Fitness and Health Outcomes: a LifeSpan Approach.” Written by Louise C. Hawkley, and John P. Capitanio states: “A sampling of recent studies shows that socially isolated housing of various social animal species at various stages of life and for various durations results in altered behaviour (e.g. anxious, depression-like, aggressive, passive, cognition/memory), physiology (e.g. changes in basal or stress–reactive corticosterone, blood pressure, inflammation, immune responses, hippocampal function) and mortality (e.g. post-stroke outcomes)” In the show, we can see Elena suffer through majority of these affects. Especially when it comes to her cognitive ability and critical thinking skills. We see her struggle hard in the show to solve problems, regarding the kingdom, and when communicating with other people.

I know, she has this power because “The amulet gave it to her.” But think of it this way: The amulet; her trauma, and Elena had to face “the trauma” for a LOOOOONG period of time. Another key factor when it comes to isolation, hallucinations. An Israeli adventurer/author Yossi Ghinsberg spent 3 weeks stranded in the Amazon rainforest (they actually made a movie about him‼️) Ghinsberg stated, due to him being isolated from society without any social contact/interaction, he experienced hallucinations. So what if metaphorically, Elena seeing the Spirit Guides, and ghosts, are her having hallucinations from spending 41 years away from society?

Elena’s dress. That goddamn dress. Its mentioned earlier that isolation can affect the brain’s cognitive abilities, and emotional health. So you basically would have trouble regulating your emotions, and your emotions would be all over the place. RING ANY BELLSSSSS⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️ Her magic dress is a metaphor for her decline in her cognitive skills.

hey hey! idk if this is where I submit for the match up! but I would love to see who you think I'd fit in with! My current fav Redacted audio has to be the Helping your Werewolf bf shift again. Specifically the acting is just so good to me. Erik did an amazing job of portraying Milo's anguish and pain at not being able to shift. Plus the relieved sobs at the end is so satisfying and emotional. 

The one boy i cant get the hype around is Ivan. like sure the yandere thing is somewhat attractive to some, but i just don't like the idea of an actual psychopath being obsessed with me.

my favorite movie is definitely the Secret Life of Walter Mitty by Ben Stiller. its less of a quotable movie and more of i remember every scene very distinctly. its a movie that envelops my own escapism. its beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, and a wholesome story on a rainy day.

my platonic redacted crush has to be Damien. he seems like a blast to interact with and tease. he's a hard worker and is tied close to his goals which i can admire. i would love to body double with him if i had some tasks to get done

My guilty pleasure media is currently the animated shows Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Lego Monkie Kid. despite being kids shows, both of these are beautifully animated and shockingly well written!

Hmm, lots of good tidbits of information to consider. You strike me as really thoughtful, really caring, and I think Lasko could really benefit from a partner like that.

A savior complex, from what I understand, is just wanting to help people and make their lives better, and Lasko’s a guidance counselor, so y’all would have that in common. What’s good about pairing two people like that is y’all could keep each other in line, so to speak. Something that’s important when you’re always looking out for other people is to make sure someone is always looking out for you and vice versa. You and Lasko together would always make sure you’re taking care of others, each other, and yourselves.

Another reason I like the two of you together is that you like being creative with one another as a bonding activity. You know what’s the ultimate way to be creative together? Tabletop role playing games! If you don’t already play, Lasko would be so excited to help you with a character sheet, to help you craft a backstory, paint some mini figurines, go out and buy the perfect game dice and notebooks- the greatest combination of nerdy and cute in a couple.

Also, Lasko and I are around the same age, and I heard this song a lot growing up. I have some weird, like, emotional resonance with it from childhood, and I think Lasko does too. Like, it makes him nostalgic and longing; maybe he always wanted someone to look after and to look after him, and now he’s finally found that in you.

Here’s what I experienced in 2023

Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the first sin:

While souls games tend to be frustrating for me, they are also brilliant experiences, and I had a ton of fun with DS2! The Halbert in this game specifically is my favorite weapon in the entire series as of rn.

Neon White:

I hope everyone finds a game that fits their taste as well as Neon White fits mine. One of my new favorite games with such a satisfying sense of flow and rhythm that I couldn’t put it down till I got a gold medal on every stage.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish:

I loved the TV show they did so I wasn’t totally surprised but this exceeded my expectations. Gorgeous art style, fluid animation, compelling characters, and the most intimidating animated movie villain in a long time make this a winner in my book!

Bocchi the Rock Season 1:

IT’S SO CUTE AND FUN OMG!!!! A really heartfelt and well realized story with an absolute banger soundtrack. I loved every single character and every single episode so much, it’s truly an amazing show!

Elden Ring:

This game is scary in how good it is. It’s massive, intensely difficult, detailed, and beautifully crafted. It’s so much that I’m inclined to say it’s too much. But too much of a masterpiece is still a masterpiece. I’m carrying this victory with me for a long time.

Transistor:

Holy wow, I haven’t been surprised by a game like this in awhile! It’s an extremely well designed tactical action game with an unconventional narrative structure and absolutely killer visuals and music. I’ll definitely consider returning for another run later on!

Summer Wars:

An absolute rollercoaster of a movie. I really enjoyed the family dynamic and the different ways the story unfolded. It wasn’t what I expected at all and I think it was better for it. The visual design is incredible too! It’s very pleasant to look at. A fun movie!!

Journey:

I’ve rarely seen a game so perfectly titled. It was a true journey. It was an experience that was unique to me and my own playthrough. That’s what I think is truly special about this game. The people you meet and the way you progress while linear is truly your own

John Wick 4:

Absolutely lives up to the quality of this series. John wick continues to impress me with its action choreography and cinematography. This entry specifically has a strong set of side characters, some excellent music compositions, and amazing settings. Loved this one!

Portal 2 (Co-op):

I played the single player years ago but I finally got to finish the co-op campaign and it was a blast!!! Portal is one of if not the most satisfying puzzle games I’ve played. Reminds me how much of a classic this one is. Shoutout to my cousin for joining me!

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves:

A really enjoyable action comedy movie! It did a good job capturing the dynamic of a dnd party. A super fun time with genuine humor, great performances all around, and the appropriate amount of chaos for a movie in the dnd universe.

The Super Mario Bros Movie:

A solid film! The Music stole the show for me, Peach and Bowser were huge highlights and Luigi and Toad had great performances too! I was disappointed by the Kongs voices but it’s a film with a lot of love for the series in there! Peach is great btw💕

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom :

This game somehow impresses today in the same way botw does. The improvements rocket this game into the stratosphere. While i suffered the same fatigue I did with Elden ring at the end, I also found myself in awe almost the entire time

Spider Man: Across the Spiderverse :

I um, don’t know what to say. Visual feast, extremely compelling plot, character work that hit so so hard, an animated movie the likes of which I’ve never seen. Just incredible

Barbie Movie:

It was so incredibly fun. I had a good few laughs and it had really compelling characters. Very appropriately campy with the depth to back up the camp. A well made film

Cassette Beasts:

What a fantastic game. It recaptured the magic I haven’t felt since playing Pokémon platinum for the first time. It’s battle system is so engaging, story filled with mystery, characters absolutely lovely, and a world that is just the right size for exploring. 💕

Q: overall thoughts/feelings from the US tour? A: so happy about it. each show was something special. it felt huge to get back up there after pandemic/pregnancy/giving birth and feel like myself again, but stronger.

Q: any song in your catalogue you have yet to play live that you would like to? A: there’s no song i don’t want to play actually. there are just a lot of songs in my body of work. one i am longing to take on with full band is MACHINEE. also craving to sing ‘n.’

Q: what drew you to the electronic soundscape of iamamiwhoami compared to previous folk-pop material? A: there was more to my musicality to explore.

Q: how is the weather in Sweden now? and what’s your favourite place there? A: it’s very hot for june here. 25*c and not a rainy day in weeks. very worrying for farmers and ground water.

Q: favourite synthesizer? A: Moog grandmother, minimoog and Roland JP08.

Q: when is the continuation of the tour planned? A: an exclusive set of shows in my hometown in august in sweden (first time ever to play there). more EU shows to come and then something in the winter too. keen to explore 2024.

Q: as i age, i feel like i lose touch with my imagination. how do you keep yours intact? A: i think the world around us as we grow up is built on seriousness and responsibilities and it’s important to never stop playing despite that. imagination is based on feeling things. experiencing new things. when you go numb you go dumb. i grew up being on my own a lot. the good thing about it was that i built a really vivid imagination.

Q: ; john is one of your songs that gets me the most, any meanings or stories behind it? A: it is about “selling out” adapting to the consumers will. giving others what they want. hence the title.

Q: no questions, but we love you, so glad we saw you live in Denver ❤️ A: thank you. i loved playing my first show in your city. hope to be back soon and to get to see the rockies too.

Q: Brazil: can we dream about a future gig here? A: yes.

Q: do you have any hobbies we don’t know about? A: a few probably… one is archeology. i am a nerd on plants and roses in particular. free diving.

Q: how do you mix your vocals to be so rich and energetic? they always have so much character. A: i try to do as much as possible with the vocal take itself. the mix is there to enhance it. i use very little effects now and instead play with the physical sound itself or dubs. i do like reverb and being dynamic with any effects. character is in the feeling.

Q: how was the experience of touring with baby bauer? lots of love to you and your family xx A: it was really amazing. tiring at times with little sleep, but overall amazing. he was a trouper and got so much love and support from my crew as well. he had a blast learning to walk in the US. 🤍

Q: would you consider a KRONOLOGI volume 2 with unheard tracks, demos and new versions? A: yes if that came as a next natural step i would.

Q: why did you decide to go for an audiovisual format with your work? A: it’s a 360 representation of my artistic expression and it was a natural development to get here. often i've been asked how i can afford to make 'all these visuals' when in fact they are as much part of my work as the music if you will. often made with little to nothing but vision, desire and skill. it's just that visuals is seen as PR in music. to me it's a world of its own. they belong together.

Q: what inspires the darkness/haunting feelings in your music? it resonates with me. A: it’s in my DNA.

Q: how has the advance of tech affected the audiovisual process for you? A: i have many of the tools we need to make and release things by our own hand now. wasn’t possible 15 years ago. still we need creativity, ours and others time and lots of bravery not to mention connecting with people who like your work to make something lasting.

Q: any advice for after a breakup? really want to see your view about love and such 🤍 A: when you’re wounded you need to heal. be with people who love you and go outside. listen to music that makes you feel like you. it hurts but least we feel it right.

Q: was the burning of SUTS a metaphor for burning your industry careers to become independent? A: no he was a representative of the audience. it had to happen.

Q: when did you start making music? A: a long time ago.

Q: what do you have planned for the shows in Sweden? will there be a full band, etc? A: yes full band. three amazing nights on my home turf with special guests Zola Jesus and Jenny Wilson is what to expect.

Q: hardest part and best part of motherhood? i'm expecting in Dec 💗 A: congratulations 🤍 the hardest part is the physical and mental toll on you and how individual and to me intimately personal the experience is. the best is the biological connection to another being that’s part you like a branch from a tree that grows into its own being. so cool. so much love. thankful to get to experience it.

Q: is Stockholm a place firmly in the past now? A: no i spent 22 years there and have my closest friends and family there plus my studio still. will be there.

Q: my definitive fav body of work of yours is EABF, any fun memories or anecdotes? A: i struggled so much with my health making this album. had just toured for a long time with Röyksopp. felt really insecure about my currency as an artist. had been asked "why aren't you more famous?" so many times through the years cause my value is different in the commercial world of music. choosing to be independent is often seen as "you just didn't make it big enough". this album was a big fuck off to all that. the tour that followed really cemented my love for my audience who believe in me.

Q: is iamamiwhoami; flying or falling about overcoming a mental health challenge? A: it’s about fighting your own shadows. contradicting behaviours and self destruction.

Q: are there any songs that you had a hard time singing in the studio or live? which one and why? A: SAMARITAN is pretty full on. don’t think there’s a single breath pause in that chorus. plus dancing. hard work for live. also i take a lot of pride in my vocals and have a sensitive pitch ear so i tend to get extremely tired going nuts there. in the studio you can take breaks so no complaining.

Q: any words of encouragement for your queer fans this pride month? 😔🏳️‍🌈 x A: be brave and free ❤️

Q: what instrument would you like to learn that you haven’t yet? A: the harp.

Q: funny memory from the recent NA tour? A: me in Twin Peaks w/ giant b⚫️⚫️bs.

Q: around bounty and kin do you have some more BTS photos we haven’t seen before? A: there’s some but we decided within the group to keep that period to ourselves. it was such an overwhelming time you have no idea. this is why BLUE was a big splash of freedom that i needed to create after many years of being completely closed, isolated and silent.

Q: what helped you keep faith in your alchemizing power from the beginning till now? A: to be perfectly honest growing up i didn’t have anyone who understood my musical or otherwise talent so i went solely on the gut feel that i had something different that made me feel good inside in contrast to a pretty dark time.

Q: is capturing your emotions important to you while singing? how do you best execute it? A: it’s everything. make sure you’re in it and that you have the best possible foundation to be lost in the moment. play songs you enjoy, have good monitors and great production. a fantastic audience does the trick.

Q: what do you think about AI in music. like voice replacement, for example. A: it is what it is but it ain’t feeling things.

Here is the end of act animation, [S] Enter. Panels are sliding around the screen. They're showing stuff. Things are happening. It's exciting.

0:47 - Look at how I was still switching her shirt logo around even in the middle of a Flash. This is called attention to detail.

1:05 - And there goes the bed. If only the bed could have burned to death on its Quest Bedbed.

1:20 - Look at Dave putting all this stuff in these terrible inconvenient locations. What a jackass!

1:28 - The real hero of Act 3: a 20 foot tall, 10 ton stone statue of Zazzerpan the Learned. Those Zazzerstats are canon btw.

1:41 - Rose was eager to play this game in the first place so she could resurrect her dead cat, AND GOD DAMMIT THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT SHE'S GOING TO DO. All these flaming tornadoes and flying wizards can go to hell.

1:57 - There's this whole spiel on Sburb's "entry items" and what they mean, which I won't get into now. But here's another brief spin on it. John's was an apple from a tree, obviously like the one from the bible. In that tale, the apple represented a temptation to Adam and Eve, and trouble was a-lurkin' if they took a bite. In retrospect the liquor bottle similarly represents a kind of temptation in the context of this character arc.

2:31 - Usually with acts in Homestuck, there's something that happens at the end that brings the act back full circle. Act 3 started with Nanna's inscription to John, and here we see when and how that was written, while getting a very brief glimpse of what's under the clouds and thus a peek at the much bigger story waiting for us to discover.

2:36 - One wonders if she was aware Dave had given Jaspers some useful tentacles to bail her out with before she jumped. It was quite a leap of faith. Or just outright suicidal. The Lalondes and Striders are basically all cuckoo bananas. But anyways, let's reflect on the teamwork involved to make everything work. Rose bringing Jaspers back, Dave making him a princess, Jaspers saving Rose… God teamwork is great. So is friendship. If your story isn't in some way basically about friendship and teamwork, you are failing hilariously at your job.

2:50 - In [this part of the] montage we see a very quick rewind of WV blasting off in his big can. Which turns out to be the cork of a huge bottle, the unsurprising shape of the exile station which formed in Rose's crater. Exile station designs are based on the entry item of that location. As if you didn't know that already.

2:58 - Sure cuttin' it close there Rose… My characters never listen to me.

3:01 - The thing being revealed here: Dave's copy of the game has been stored in this lotus time capsule for millions of years. WHAT?? Yes, the same juice-stained copies currently on the roof below his window. How do they get here? This is how most mysteries work in Homestuck. You know a thing is going to happen in the future, but you don't know why or how. So you just keep reading, while screaming.

3:02 - The animation just keeps on going, and the song "Sburban Jungle" sorta bumps it up a notch. John proceeds to climb his house while kicking imp and ogre ass. There are a few moments in the earlier acts which seem to trick you into thinking Homestuck is all about getting cool gear, gaining levels, and kicking ass like you expect to do in such games. This is kind of misleading though. In totality, HS isn't really about ass-kicking at all. It's about presenting awesome fantasy environments and situations in which ass-kicking could THEORETICALLY take place, but very rarely does except in dramatic hot points like this. Instead, those environments serve as backdrops for a huge amount of dicking around on the internet, babbling to friends about feelings, and being a bunch of stupid useless kids struggling to grow up. If you are ever under the impression HS is about anything else, you are invariably in for a world of hurt.

3:25 - The best part of the animation is when John just runs up and clocks a hapless imp in the face. Don't even try to tell me it isn't.

3:29 - Whereas this imp gets inadvertently Cosby'd into the pit. You'd think John would later find the Cosbytop lying around somewhere down there, but I don't think that's what happens. I think he just makes another one?? Why the hell not. The great thing about alchemy is it puts very little premium on almost any single object. Except ones which are Plot Critical to be unique, like the game disc, or the matriorb. It's almost like… the game knows when an item is plot critical?? It's almost like… my brain as the author of the story IS the game???

3:34 - Then John boings into the thing. The end.

The LEGO Batman Movie (2017)

1/2 Movies I watched on my flight to visit my family. Honestly, I think the original Lego Movie was better. It definitely had some fun parts but tbh I feel like it was phoning it in a bit more with this one, along with kinda relying on the big IP characters more than playing on them. Robin was peak tho.

Now You See Me 2 (2016)

2/2 Movies I watched on my flight to visit my family. How the fuck did I not watched this movie series until now. It's got magic, it's got noble thieves, it's so fucking great. MS/HS me woulda loved this.

Eureka Seven (2005)

God damn, this may have been the slowest burn I've had from a show ever, but the ending was pretty fucking good. Renton was kinda ehh, but everyone else was good. DOMINIC AND ANEMONE ARE PEAK.

Deadpool and Wolverine (2024)

What a fucking blast of a movie. That shit was really fun to watch, and may have had one of the best opening sequences I've seen in forever. It went a bit too hard on the whole Disney/Fox/Marvel thing, but it definitely did feel like it was more an homage to Fox Marvel movies in the past 20 years. (And of course Deadpool would be the one to pull Wolverine back, because of fucking course)

Blade Runner (1982) (Rewatch)

Altho I don't note media I've experienced before, this was with a group of friends and I was rewatching so I can prepare for 2049, and man. It's just fantastic. I don't know how else to describe it. Like I wish I could describe more, but all I can really say is that the movie is just incredible. The atmosphere and the experience is just all actual kino. Hope you had a great birthday, Sorel.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017)

God this feels like a Nickelodeon TV movie and I mean that in the best way possible. You shouldn't take it seriously, but it's just straight fun and also REALLY cool. Elton John is quite possibly the high point in the movie.

La Chimera (2023) (Unfinished)

2/4 movies I watched on my flight back home. I'm not gonna lie I just clicked on this without knowing what the movie is about because the cover and title looked cool. I was kinda liking it due to giving me a bit of nostalgia of the types of movies I'd see on TV back home or the movies my parents would watch, but idk if it was me being tired or just disinterested but it couldn't really hook me in fully. Maybe once I find out more about the movie I'll actually go finish it, but for now this is where we part.

Murder on the Orient Express (2017) (Movie)

3/4 movies I watched on my flight back home. RAAAAAAHHHHH I LOVE MURDER MYSTERIES I LOVE HAVING THE SUSPENSE AND MYSTERY OF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A CLOSED ROOM CASE RAAAAHHHHHH. god i wish i was good at solving them tho. 4/4 movies I watched on my flight back home. Really funny movie, altho it did feel a bit slow and some of the gags did feel a bit overplayed, might be a cultural difference tho. I was enjoying it but unfortunately I couldn't finish it before the flight had ended, so a full review will have to wait until another time.
