At least Hori is one of the few writers who acknowledges that he should’ve done something differently for the early portions of the story. He acknowledges that he should’ve written Bakugo not as harsh and that Aizawa should’ve different characterization. So there are valid reasons for fanfic writers to reduce the Mary Sue-ness of Bakugo and make Aizawa into a better teacher. It’s just that people want to make Aizawa a Batman-like character without the charm and understanding on how Batman works in his universe, infantiled the other characters and bashed the good ones, and not understanding certain cultural impact in the Japan vs US societies.
This is very true! Like a lot of authors won't say shit or just hope people will accept retcons. Yes Hori's also to some extent doing the second, but at least he's come out and said he shouldn't have done some of the stuff he previously did (though I think there was also the issue of him underestimating how popular both Bakugou and Aizawa would get).
Yeah the attempts to make Aizawa a Batman-like figure in fanon/fic again (much like the Kakashi references I noted in that earlier post) miss why things work for that character. This definitely goes into the desire to make Aizawa a much more competent figure then he is actually written in canon. But like...he's not getting called in as a strategist. He's not getting get in because he's a great combatant. He's generally getting called in because they need his Quirk for something.
I should note this is also an issue Nedzu suffers in fic/fanon. He's certainly brilliant and manipulative. He also still misses some pretty obvious shit or handles it poorly (no matter what, someone as smart as he's supposed to be should have realized immediately how stupid the 'chain Bakugou to the pole' thing was)
(Though also in context of Batman I think it also gets missed a lot that the man himself fucks up/DC writes him as doing things that make no sense. I know I've talked about in the past the issue of how in the Nu52 when he's explaining his take down plans for JL members his plan for taking out a GL is apparently to use a yellow ring. You know, the thing these guys are specifically given training to fight against? And the ring-type that two of them (Hal and Guy) are perfectly capable of wielding themselves? Also in general Lantern rings are much, much harder to use then they seem on the surface, and trying to use one against people, who have the case of the four GLs he would have been setting up the plan against, been using those rings for several years is just stupid. Though also there it's a good demonstration of the arrogance DC also is prone to writing with Batman)
Though to be fair to the cultural impact issue, that's a pretty wide ranging issue in a lot of stuff, not just things related to Aizawa. There's a reason I had it specified in Words May Hurt that the detention thing is a result of WHA standardizing punishments at hero schools, rather than a norm.

fanfic ask game: for hermitcraft specifically, those two fandom plots - "grian watcher angst" and "dsmp character goes to therapy". your thoughts, both on the concepts and on the typical execution thereof?
oh i see you're coming in with the controversial ones for me. hm. okay like.
....both of these are in the D-F range but i'm reluctant to put them fully in F because there are good examples out there that i like and i don't like saying "yeah i outright won't read this" when like, if a friend or an author i trust writes it, or someone puts something in a summary that makes me say "oh they're doing something new with the concept okay" happens, i will read it. also i always feel bad about my knee-jerk dislike of hermit!tommy given that hermit!tommy is actually pretty directly what got me into hermitcraft, so like. cannot possibly be that bad. just...
the problem with these types of fics tends to partially be "overdone" which like, once again. not always a problem in fanfic spaces. i'll go back to my naruto team 7 as family example i have read COUNTLESS of those fics that basically all have the same plot (kakashi puts them through hell training! bonding about trauma! the very specific plot point of 'they go to the chunin exams and are wildly overprepared for them and everyone goes 'what are they feeding those kids', often with the exact sakura/ino fight except sakura wildly outclasses her because she's 'grown up' now or whatever') and i eat them all up! for the people who like those tropes the fact they're popular is GREAT. the problem is, of course, when you're sort of tired of it and would like something else but that something else is annoyingly hard to find and then you're sitting there like "i know that complaining doesn't actually generate more fic, me WRITING generates more fic, but i only have but so much capacity and i want MY popcorn reading, where's MY popcorn reading".
...that extended ramble got a little out of hand but like. you see where i'm coming from, right?
the other problem is that i have a very, very limited patience for certain types of angst. which is silly, because i'm an angst writer to some extent (or, okay, i have a very complicated relationship with that, i actually wouldn't describe myself as an angst writer but people who do are valid and i fully understand where they're coming from). i also have a very limited patience for whump unless it scratches exactly the right itch for me. and i really, REALLY don't have patience for when the angst is just... circular, nothing ever gets resolved, you spend ten chapters in the same repetitive cycle of angst and comfort, and it's not really those tropes' fault that a lot of this happens there, right. it's that they're POPULAR so a lot of new writers write them. but writing angst that doesn't just make me bored is HARD and because i have trouble finding a lot of those fics that do write it well i have a tendency to write it off, because the other involved tropes aren't things i like enough to make me keep reading despite it doing a thing i dislike.
(the third secret reason i tend to mistrust these genres is 'i am so fucking picky about mumbo characterization these days and no one ever writes him right i am the most suffering person ever and also now whenever pearl is used for grian angst with no character of her own i descend from the trees like a feral tiger and maul something". these, however, are personal problems. especially the mumbo thing. my pickiness about mumbo is deeply self-inflicted and not even entirely accurate sometimes.)
but the thing is, as i said... if you're already my friend. if i already know i like your writing. and you write this stuff? yeah i'm on top of it. if i have had a friend vouch for you? yeah sure i'll check it out. it's just that i dislike enough of this stuff that i just... fundamentally will not read anything that hasn't been vouched for me or doesn't have such a good high concept that i can hold my nose and hope.
"but second didn't you just write a watcher thing last night also" yes i know this is the other reason i feel bad writing this one out because the problem really is "lots of baby writers hitting exactly the points of writing that i personally can't stand and also a complete saturation of it when i'm trying to find other stuff" instead of necessarily. anything wrong with the trope itself. i don't know. fandom oversaturation can be frustrating.
...so yeah. D or F.

Hey!! (animeomegas here <3) I don't know anything about jjk, but I love actor AUs and I was wondering if you have any fun ideas for Naruto, the arcana or Mystic messenger? For some reason I've been imagining how a Mystic Messenger TV show would work and sketching out poster ideas for it 😫 This isn't really intended as a request, I just want to hear your stream of thought haha. Hope you've been having a wonderful day! <33
Hi @animeomegas I actually had a really long day but it was nice! I got a lot of things done. I hope you also had a good day ^^. So, okay okay okay you know I love casual stream of thought... and talking ahaha, and I also love behind the camera drama (I am also avoiding any wip work because 9+ hours at work fried the thesaurus bit of my brain)
Naruto
Naruto is such a specifically anime show. The budget for a complete 1:1 live action remake would probably make people so mad, there would have to be so much CGI for the final battle.
I feel like it could work for actors au as either:
1. Make Naruto a movie series. It's probably got a cult following like Star Wars and started off as some kind of original idea in the 70s and then got acquisitioned by a huge conglomerate in the 90s-2000s era, and had enough films (like the fast and furious franchises XD, so... eight at least) that it was able to cover all the material up until our time lol.
I actually went and reviewed the arcs because I love procrastination through research oop, but if you cut out/combine the filler arcs/turn them into serialized shows for streaming, you're left with enough material for about 3 movies from genin-days (when the actors Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura age from 11-14) and 5 movies from the shippuden era (there the main trio actors age from 16-24)
Playing off that nostalgia factor, Jiraiya's actor either played Minato or Naruto in the 70s film. He's since become a very famous actor/producer/director. Kakashi's father also played Kakashi's character in the original 70s film, so having him return as Sakumo for the Pein arc was a little Easter egg. There's a couple of instances of this throughout the series. For example, Madara is actually played by the same actor who played Sasuke in the og series, and the makeup used to age him in the flashback arcs gets high praise. Hashirama is played by the same kid who played Rock Lee in the first films too. Tsunade was played by the same girl who was either Ino in the original, etc.
Kind of like marvel, there's a ton of actors who are only sort of or not very famous when the films start, and the kids are certainly no-name actors (kind of [Sakura reads to me like a former disney-channel kid lol]), and then as the films get wildly popular, the franchise gains the Midas touch and even all of the recurrent minor characters get arcs/spinoffs/or see further success in their careers.
And as with marvel, it truly becomes like... everyone famous in a certain generation was in the Naruto franchise.
Sasuke had some actual industry connections prior to casting, but that was only because his brother was a young up-and-coming model. They sort of spring-boarded one anothers' careers. Playing the franchise characters traumatized them oop, and irl they're very close. There's a noticeable uptick in viewership for compilation videos of the Uchiha brothers being best siblings after about movie 6 when Sasuke finally kills Itachi and movie 7's fight with Kabuto is one of the most watched clips ever.
Also marvel-esque, I think people have mixed opinions about the ending lol (just like they do the anime) because on one hand, explosions! amazing visual effects! the whole ensemble ready to assemble! stacked nostalgia value! answers to some of the most asked fandom questions! amazing physical feats (Naruto and by extension Sasuke mostly insist on doing their own stunts)! and on the other... you have some of the thousand story threads being lost in the sauce, lackluster characterization for a some of the ladies, leaning perhaps too much on nostalgia value, complete obliteration of power scaling, suddenly there's almost too much content, and you have to have watched all three spinoff series to understand some of the in-world references, also fighting between the original concept creator and head writer and the production teams :p (yes this is Io being too literal haha)
2nd option: The Naruto characters all belong to the same representative entertainment company (think SM or YG /pulls face because cabal culture disturbs me/). I think this is more like an idols AU, and the relationships are significantly more catty and have more drama, but they're all actors/other entertainment related career lol so it's also kind of actors au?
The company probably tried for a ninjas/powers theme during recruitment and promotion so that's where you get Kakashi associated with dogs and lightning, Sasuke associated with snakes and later hawks and fire, Naruto associated with frogs and wind, Sakura associated with slugs and healing, Itachi associated with crows and dreams, Haku associated with ice and mirrors, Sai associated with tigers and ink, Tenzo/Yamato associated with trees, Gaara associated with tanuki and sand etc.
Itachi and Sasuke have an infamous rivalry that never really "resolves" so much as disappears because Itachi retires for a few years to deal with physical and mental health issues. It would be during this time he goes public with a relationship and he gets married before making a comeback. Even after the brothers reconcile and do projects together, people still bring up their Fighting Era and it pisses Sasuke off because the public doesn't really know what happened and he hates the speculation. Part of the controversy is that Sasuke left the company only a few years after signing on, joined a small rival company that was later embroiled in scandal, and then returned to the same company as his brother right around the time Itachi took a break.
Kakashi is the oldest of the "new generation" that's promoted during that time, but he's a very successful child actor turned model and adult actor. He did a bunch of shows that have great repeat value though so he basically lives off residuals and picks his projects and is very obvious but rather quiet about the ways he critiques the current entertainment industry. He's very good friends with Tenzo, stagename Yamato
Haku is a musician first and an actor second. He made his debut as part of a short lived idol group before going solo and starting musical stages. He's an up and coming favorite for historical dramas.
Gaara and Naruto are child actors who have been best friends for ages and help one another work through the inevitable industry challenges. They separately become really popular role models for kids from their hometowns. Kankuro is Gaara's personal rock in the working world, even though Kankuro's bad-boy image and slightly freaky aesthetic don't surface level seem to match with Gaara's more reserved and authentic method of dealing with the constant press.
Shikamaru and Nagato both separately give me musician/model vibes, but in different genres. Shikamaru quits the music thing very quickly to become a producer lol because more math and less fighting with fickle public opinion.
Mystic Messenger
If you sketch the the poster idea you haaaave to post it, please pretty please Amy?? Because you're so right, the whole plot is absolutely like a thriller/romcom kdrama. (Because the characters are well fleshed out it could also work with preserving the character backstories but have them all have entered acting later on.)
I looked up some Kdrama posters and the one where the leads for "because this is my first life" are standing in a stylized apartment balcony reminded me somewhat of thee game, mostly because the MC is stuck in the apartment for a good portion of the seven days lol.
If the whole Mystic Messenger plot were a drama...
MC is probably a rookie actor with one or two well done but not widely distributed productions under their belt.
Yoosung was maybe a child-actor which makes the whole ingenue thing kind of funny for his fans. Like yes, this is his first "adult role" (his baby face means he otherwise plays a lot of high schoolers) but it's this odd mixture of experience meaning he plays the role perfectly, but lack of experience with normal people resulting in a lot of blushing and stammering and totally tunnel vision flirting during the press tour haha.
I'd love for Jumin to come from a similar but less severe situation as game-Jumin. Like maybe his father has remarried a bunch of times, but he actually gets along with the stepmother who's been his mother for most of his life and he takes her to premiers with him. He grew up poor so he finds playing a lot of wealthy heirs type characters because of his looks to be a very strange turn of events, but he overall doesn't talk about his past much in public.
Hmmm, Jaehee seems the type to play a lot of severe characters in her usual roles because of her appearance, but like game-Jaehee she's got a very cute and adorable side that's coupled with a very genuine personalty. The interviewers probably make her do a lot of aegyo T.T poor Jaehee. She probably also worked her way through a prestigious drama school, either in-country or abroad, so she loves to read.
Zen always offers to do the aegyo with Jaehee so she doesn't have to suffer alone haha. He on the other hand never went to drama school, he's been acting since he was about 17 so all his training was in-company, although his company helped to put him through college where he did an advertising and media degree. He didn't have the exposure Jaehee did to classical media and arts, so they are irl very good friends who bond over their interest in business and Zen's interest in gaining a deeper understanding of acting and theater.
I see 707 as the person who was probably an idol musician before he started acting and mostly left group music behind. I've never played his route through, but he seems like the kind of person who is sometimes frustratingly talented lol. He is a natural at almost everything he tries which sometimes stresses him out because he wonders if there's something else he should be doing besides acting.
V seems like the kind of person however who was maybe a model first, and then turned to acting? I hate to say this, but it's the kind of situation where his incredible looks and sweet irl personality have garnered him a very devoted following but his parts in dramas tend to be second-string or somewhat minor or... kind of weird lol, and when he is the lead the show is usually only "okay" because the writing will be strange 😅 which is technically not his fault, but to be honest most of his income comes from promotional deals.
You like Saeran, right? so I won't leave him out! He's got this doe-eyed look that makes me think of a new debut actor! This is also one of his first major roles so he and MC lean on each other a lot and have to work hard to make sure their relationship off-screen is comfortable because they have so many scary intense scenes later on. He and 707 are either irl siblings, or just because so close during filming that they're truly like brothers now and 707 is always seen supporting Saeran, especially when Saeran decides to venture into the music scene and his vocal style and color means he explodes into popularity almost right away.
The Arcana
Somehow I can see this becoming an HBO drama? or maybe an Akuzon special because it's very good about placing lgbtq themes in-world (which was sort of groundbreaking when the game debuted). This one is so hard because each route gradually ended up diverging so much and in such different ways and expanding on the world in such a rewarding diversity of directions that you could truly have a beautiful, successful show no matter what route was filmed.
You could potentially have a Witcher-type situation where you really do have multiple routes and timeline splitting. If someone who's got a really good editing team working with a really tight writing team I think they could do it.
But otherwise, this is another situation where the main cast has had friend configurations for a While and doing this project brought them all closer together!
Ilya and Asra have known one another probably the longest industry-wise. They did a smaller well received indie film once about five years before Arcana with the vaguest of nods to brokeback mountain (I've never seen it, sorry) but a much happier road trip lovers plot, so having to play disillusioned, one-sided pining ex-lovers who had a very toxic last year to their relationship is... something XD.
Asra and Muriel have been personal friends since their days as students - they went to the same camps and programs to study acting and in their interviews, they have a fun time talking about some personal anecdotes (like the fact they did indeed frequently camp at a lakeside together as children) which made it into their own characters' backstories.
Nadia and Lucio are very Nikolaj/Gwendoline during their press and off-screen interactions. They find their characters' personas to be sort of hilariously poorly matched.
Portia is a famously hard working actress who clawed her way through the world of cinema and still managed to stay a decent, well grounded person. She's not actually related to Ilya irl but they got along really well from the beginning so there's lots of videos of them acting like siblings off screen.
Because the on-site shoots for Arcana required so much travel, the cast got to spend a lot of bonding time together, and saw a ton of unique places. The cast always has stories of swimming and hiking or trying new food or pictures of each other at famous sites during their days off. Muriel is actually the one who plans the outdoor adventures the best, he was an athlete and had military training before becoming an actor and he loves being outside so he'll lead these kinds of outings. People adore his social media because he's got that outdoors guy vibe but he's very sweet and he smiles a lot more irl than his roles usually do.
Portia and Julian are the most likely to get lost in any place, but they're also super fun to travel with because they always find interesting people and places that are off the beaten path.
Nadia and Asra have the most normal but also most aesthetic social media feeds. They always seem able to catch the golden hour light somehow...
After Arcana, they each often end up cast in or around the same movies/franchises/series as well, because they do work very well together. The show also helped them break out of some type casting, to their delight.
Lucio trends towards action and romcom films, he does often get typecast as some kind of villain, but his redemption arc in Arcana actually helped him break into more of the antihero type roles. He can be adorably goofy at times.
Nadia used to play the femme fatale quite frequently but since Arcana she's been able to take on softer roles, still often playing a woman in power, but she's been able to mix and cross genres. She also has been working on a screenplay and wants to try directing.
Portia was famous before Arcana but the show helped enter her into some of the more mainstream conversation and she has her first action-type role soon after Arcana ends.
Asra has a delicate physique and had some trouble in the past with being passed over roles that required more "force of presence" in the past. However, since showing his side as the secretive, enigmatic, manipulative magician, he's been able to try on the hats of villains, return to some roles on the true stage (his first love), and play the lead in a more serious political thriller.
Muriel had the opposite problem with his large build often precluding him from anything but action films. Since Arcana he's been able to try a few romantic lead parts, and has embraced his popularity by searching out meaningful mid-budget films where he can broaden his talents.
Julian is very tall, so he used to play quite a few more domineering, dastardly types in the films he did before Arcana. The show also brought him into the spotlight. He still does well as the sneering, dangerous, tall and dark type, but he's found that he can and is willing to push for playing something softer, someone who follows instead of leads in the on-screen dynamics. You and Ilya end up in a bodyguard type of drama at some point where he spends a lot of time on his knees swearing his devotion and playing a lot of subtext lol.
MC in this seems like they would have been a more experienced actor before taking on the linchpin role for Arcana, but the show granted you the experience to step into other roles both in front of and behind the camera and we'll probably see an MC directed and produced short film or indie film within the next few years!

1, 6, 8, 12, and 17 my hater in arms 💕
The character everyone gets wrong
OKAY this is niche and OUTTA LEFT FIELD but my favorite book of ALL TIME is we have always lived in the castle by shirley jackson and the HATE i see for its protagonist is ALL WRONG. It's in the same vein as like Chara undertale hate (another of my fave characters of all time) where peoples see a CHILD that clearly has a lot going on and are like. this person is irredeemably evil. no they're traumatized
6. Which ship fans are the most annoying?
bloodweave sorry bloodweave like. for why. why is it so popular why is it everywhere. like yeah every origin ship is valid and can be canon but like they both have much more interesting dynamics with other charactes. where is the gale/lae'zel art. hwere is the aslach (ass lack) or the aswylllach (ass will lack) art. why is bloodweave the most popular origin ship
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
okay this doesn't exactly fit bc i dont think it's super popular per se but it's on my mind today. i hate seeing fanart of kakashi and gojo together. people always twinkify them and alwasy draw them like they're about to fuck. 1) kakashi is not hot (dont get me wrong i want to fuck him but not cause he's like. physically attractive.) 2) they are not the same person 3) gojo will never be kakashi gojo wishes he was kakashi 4) kakashi would kill that man
OH OH ALSO THAT REMINDS ME I'LL THROW THIS IN HERE TOO. i don't like kakashi/iruka i think it's unfounded. they hardly ever talk. yeah they both love naruto but like can just be his mentor figures separately they don't have to be married. kakashi is married to guy like they are MARRIED. i feel like kakashi/guy would be way more popular if guy was a prettyboy twink (like iruka)
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
i wanna say wyll but like that shit actually makes me fucking angry and not in a silly haha way so i am going to instead say sera dragonage. now. i know there are a lot of sera dragonage haters out there and there are some things about her that i do not like. however i overall love her and i think she is a tragic case of bad writing and wasted potential. why did they have a straight white guy write a lesbian whose character arc revolves around internalized racism. why does the game literally talk shit about her during her romance arc. literally one of her romance quests is "you love sera and wanna get her something to show her how much you care. go ask your friends for gift advice" and EVERY SINGLE COMPANION OR ADVISOR IS JUST LIKE. I HATE SERA SHES SO ANNOYING WHY ARE YOU DATING HER. UGH. ALSO. the game makes you be so mean to her!! so many times the only dialogue options with her are like "stop talking weird i dont understand you'". also the fact that YOU CAN LITERALLY KICK HER OUT AT ANY TIME??? LIKE NO MATTER WHAT THERE IS ALWAYS A DIALOGUE BUTTON TO KICK HER OUT?? here are reasons why you should like sera:
she is fun trickster! solas fucking wishes he was her.
her subclass is just super fun!! throw jars of bees and fire and shit at your enemies!
she is so genuine and cares so much about what she believes in. i wish that was explored more but as i have said the game literally hates her so.
she loves you so much!!!! she marries you!!!!!!!!!
i actualy really like her voice and the way she talks. shes just fun!
she's autistic <3
17. there should be more types of this fic/art
more people should be drawing gale and halsin and karlach fat, for one. also everyone else in the party but like especially those three. larian the fact that you have zero fat people in your game sucks supremely and you should feel bad about it.
actually draw more characters as fat anyway.

Text
hello, welcome to my pinned post! I'm archon-maenad, formerly known as wormpinions, and this is meant to be a guide and warning all at once for my blog. if you're following me with any level of active interest I highly recommend at least skimming this.
below the read-more contains general disclaimers I wish everyone who read my posts could know, a list of takes I have that might be deal-breakers, a summary of each au I created that I post about on here, and an extensive masterlist of my insane tagging system.
and here's my ao3 above the rm, because I'm shameless and desperate for interaction.
honestly, by general disclaimers I mostly mean one thing with a few aspects that I really really really want to make sure people know. specifically the concept of bashing vs criticism.
I do not like the idea of bashing characters. fics tagged with that are a red flag, I always use the "[character] Critical" because it's more accurate to the nuance I want to have. people are not one dimensional. they can have a fuckload of flaws I want to scream about from the rooftops and/or cackle about and still have the opportunity to become better people.
I can admit that I do like bashing settings, but I also use the "[topic] Critical" tag for that because once again: nuance is very important. some worlds are completely fucked but that doesn't mean they don't have redeeming qualities or became that way for a reason.
having to add on to every post that I have thoughts beyond the scathing analysis or (hopefully) amusing dunking would get old real fast, so let me put it here. I do not hate unconditionally. I am capable of exploring generous good-faith interpretations of characters I dislike or settings I criticize. I acknowledge the layers of why people act or places work.
that being said, welcome to the possible deal-breakers part of this post. here are a list of popular characters I will ruthlessly drag for making awful decisions.
itachi uchiha. why does nobody talk about how he literally deadass canonically no-I-am-not-exaggerating tortured his little brother. how can people call him a good sibling What The Actual Fuck????
kakashi hatake. he did team 7 so fucking dirty, mans was really willing to throw a bunch of children out into life as soldier-mercenaries unprepared. I understand why he did (70% of his personality is trauma) but that doesn't mean I condone it.
naruto uzumaki. yes I am very critical of the main boy himself. he's so blind to the privilege he has and expects other people to forgive things as easily as he does, minimizing the very real grievances they might have just because the person being criticized is one he cares about.
sasuke uchiha. do I need to elaborate.
minato namikaze. this one is more me just being really annoyed at how the fandom is so quick to paint him in a saintly light when he killed a thousand people and became a military dictator.
batman. I have a lot of problems with how he handles his rogues and the child heroes trailing at his heels.
all-might. he's a criminally negligent teacher and taught japan that triumph written in blood is peace. dude really singlehandedly fucked up a whole country's culture.
eraserhead. the fact he is a good hero willing to die for his students does not mean he isn't actively sabotaging their ability to trust authority figures, and dadzawa is entirely a fan creation. in canon he seriously gives so many rancid vibes.
izuku midoriya. his self-righteousness and lack of respect for boundaries just makes me nauseous. and instead of getting a mentor who helps him grow as a person, he got one who reinforced all his toxic traits.
daemon targaryen. he ordered the deaths of children and SEDUCED HIS FOURTEEN YEAR OLD NIECE. FOURTEEN. and then fucked her later right after her husband's funeral like that genuinely makes me want to throw up it's so disrespectful and disgusting.
rhaenyra targaryen. yes the double standards for women cheating are definitely real, but passing off her bastards as trueborn and then getting mad when people don't want a woman who believes she has a right to break vows on the throne is just. wowza. hubris should have been her middle name.
padme amidala. if you aren't going with an interpretation where anakin (probably out of unconscious negligence but that doesn't excuse it) manipulated her emotions, then you gotta face the fact that your precious girlboss married a mass murderer and is willing to put all the bills she pushes concerning the jedi at stake by doing that.
on the flipside, here are some characters I shamelessly love that are divisive figures in fandom.
sakura haruno. her harassment of sasuke is disgusting but she was a twelve year old girl who was taught such behavior was acceptable and also that doesn't mean she should be sent off to die with no training. why y'all hating on her she's a queen.
ron weasley. I probably won't make any actual posts about hp because contributing to the discussion of jk rowling's works makes me feel slimy, but appreciation of ron is a very important personality trait of mine y'all need to know.
the whole jedi order. they handled anakin's situation horribly but it was out of ignorance and not malice, and we are jedi culture positive in this household. jedi knights and masters not marrying has a lot of valid reasons actually and if that's a dealbreaker you should transfer to the corps or leave! it's not a lifestyle for everyone and it doesn't need to be.
sansa stark. I'm getting pretty tired of writing all these up so I'm not even going to elaborate. I love sansa and I'm not sorry about it.
and finally, yes I am the bitch who got dragged for liking kill orders. please go here for my explanation for those thoughts in detail that the (in hindsight really badly written because I was too enthusiastic to give enough context and oh my god it really does paint me in a bad light) original post didn't cover.
now the fun stuff. my aus!
riley midoriya au: a reformed but still pretty wild bonesaw is reborn as izuku's twin sister, quickly replacing bakugou's canon role model status. cue a protagonist who grew up around scathing commentary concerning japan's cape scene bc homegirl is Not Impressed by her new life.
bonesaw at camp half blood au: riley is reborn as annabeth chase. her unique worldview and curiosity shake things up quite a bit, because everyone around here is too damn quick to accept the status quo and not question the facts being told.
taylor uzumaki au: taylor hebert is reborn as naruto. she hates her new world, especially the normalized child soldiers and thoughtless way they take chakra for granted, and unknowingly makes ninja double take by being her usual unhinged self.
forbidden histories au: two codependent eldritch gods from cultist simulator get stuck in the body of sakura haruno and proceed to wreak havoc trying to get back to their home reality.
genesis generation au: my own personal post-canon fix-it. aka hokage sakura, ambassador naruto, under house arrest with chakra binding seals and rethinking all his life choices sasuke, and economies not based on child soldiers.

Since you’re voting in the Naruto poll, I wanna ask your perspective take on it. Because I find it frustrating that the poll isn’t actually about character popularity but rather the character people are hoping to have a series spin-off for. I’ve been so many people hoping to see Minato’s entire life in the promised special manga/short manga for the Top 1 character. But I feel like they’re misled because this could just be a wholesome one-shot.
I’ve seen the latest Naruto poll results and it definitely doesn’t have the accurate representation of what the top 10 would look like. Sasuke and Naruto wouldn’t be that low on the poll, and Sakumo would never be that high. Minato would never be no1. And as much as I like Sakura and believe she would be in the top 10, I don’t think she would have ranked higher than Naruto or Sasuke if people actually voted for their favorites.
I don’t know. I might be biased, but seeing how skewed this poll is is disappointing because I really wanted to know the Top 20 worldwide. I wish he made two separate polls: a popularity poll and then a poll for a special manga (the latter should exclude Team 7 and let side characters shine).
Also, there’s a poll for favourite teacher but the likes of Tsunade isn’t on there 🙄 More reason for me to dislike this poll event. I’m being petty right now, I know, but I wanted to know your thoughts on it.
And I’m voting for Kakashi solely now.
I cannot agree more! It is definitely not a popularity poll but rather 'whose story you want to see'.
No matter how much I love Sakura, I don't want her to win. She just had a Sasuke manga out and, honestly, I don't want more of him anytime soon. Same goes for Naruto and other big characters. I'm voting for Kakashi (because how can I not choose him whenever I can). But I would also love to know about other akatsuki members, Zabuza, Sannin Trio etc. But since Kakashi is closest to the top, I will keep voting for him.
Minato winning hurts.
And yes, not including Tsunade into fav teacher poll is so heartbreaking. Like cmon.

Am I the only one who feels frustrated with the Naruto Poll? I feel like all the fun has been taken out of it, and it’s now littered with toxic bullshit coming from all angles. It makes me want to give up on the fandom all together. Since I don’t keep up with Boruto, I rarely interact with the fandom anymore but now that I have during this poll I remember why I kept away in the first place. A lot of people don’t seem to understand the concept of having an opinion without being a hater of a trashy human being.
I believe Sakura is going to win the poll all together because 1. One Piece fans and 2. Aespa fans are voting for her now too because Sakura fans vowed to increased Aespa’s views. 😮‍💨 Then there are fans accusing of Sakura stans of cheating, do you think this is valid?
I don’t know if it’s valid but i think it’s all really stupid. People have been really rude for me for pointing out it’s a mini manga that they’re getting, not a series spin off (which a lot of facebook pages are saying it’s going to be)
Then you have two other fandoms coming in to mess with things for what, shits and giggles? It’s so dumb and shows just how stupid and toxic all of the anime fandoms are
And god forbid you say it’s a popularity poll and you’re actually voting for your fav. People have gotten so mad at others for voting as they should in a popularity poll
It’s all horrible and honestly a huge reason i do not partake in fandom as a whole but rather sit in my corner doing my own thing with people who just want to have fun . (Marvel fandom was honestly no better)
I’m sorry this is proving to just be more upsetting and horrible for you anon. I would def understand leaving the fandom. The only thing that keeps me here are the cool friends i’ve made and my desire to give kakashi some love cuz this fandom seems to really want to shit on him for every other character

To be honest, there are so many aspects of fandom Kakashi I hate. I know hate is a strong word, but yes I detest them with all my heart. Kakashi being called a twink is one of them because- yeah that's really off. Another thing is the idea that Kakashi is a yandere. I don't get it. If people think canon Kakashi is a yandere, I seriously doubt whether they're watching Naruto in the first place.
I do agree that he does give a cool, mysterious vibe, but underneath the surface, he's a real dork and I love reading stories that show that side of him. Many people fail to see that, but I think that's what I love most about him.
He is a very real and relatable person, but a significant part of fandom makes it seem otherwise. I'm not saying that I don't like different interpretations of him like in Mafia AU or sth like that, but what I have a problem with is people misunderstanding canon Kakashi, calling him a bad boy and whatnot. Because he's not.
Sorry for the rant 😭
You never have to be sorry for ranting! That’s what this blog is for. Anyway yeah I’d be lying if I’d said there was stuff that didn’t get me heated too 😂
Anyway, ah yes, yandere stuff… I mean, I wasn’t aware anyone actually believed that stuff seriously made sense for his canon character, I thought that was like a fanfiction trope that’s popular (for reasons I personally don’t get but you do -but interestingly there are characters I can see doing that, Itachi and Obito come to mind for some reason), but yeah I can’t see that for Kakashi at all.
I hear what you’re saying with the dorkiness and softness, and I love it as much as the next fangirl, and i am not saying a fic can';t be just fluffy cuz it totally can, but in terms of kakashi interpretations/presentations in fandom... tbh even with that I feel like it gets way over-emphasised sometimes. I think some people don’t want to contend with the tougher, rougher darker parts of him (which is something people do with a lot of badass male characters) so they just focus on him being soft and silly, which admittedly is a part of his personality too, but it’s not all there is and the development and reasons for that are complicated too. He’s really multi faceted so it can be hard to get down, for sure. But part of what does it for me for Kakashi is his darker, mysterious aspects, his sarcasm etc as well as his goodness and honorable nature despite all that. If he was just a soft, sweet boy I don't think I'd care that much about him. Part of that is me needing an edge and masculinity to my favourite male characters, but I think Kakashi's multi-facetedness and his layers is what makes him appealing. But yeah, bad boy Kakashi… you can make an argument for ANBU Kakashi being like that, but it doesn’t really fit his older iterations. Yep, AUs are great because they allow you to explore all kinds of possibilities, and you can do that in canon universe fics too, but when certain non-canon ideas get widely treated as canon and discussed as such it’s a bit jarring.

one thing that strikes me in naruto is the equation of naturally talented characters = work alone = dont know the power of others/friendship. its a sort of consistent theme that pops up throughout the manga. and if you like think about, sasuke and neji are two characters in the age group of the main cast that are 'geniuses', but like...they are both shown to train pretty hard.
i dont exactly remember with neji, but i think its implied that sasuke devoted like a lot of his time to training after the massacre bcs of his sole objective to kill itachi (even before, with learning the katon jutsu at 7 thing bcs he wanted his father to look at him too) and hes introduced as this arrogant top-of-the-class genius character (atleast from narutos perspective), but like we see how inferior he felt compared to itachi in flashbacks. waiit yeah he was shown to be top of the class before too actually, but the standard itachi set was like... impossibly high and so it still didnt compare to that. and top of the class is really good, buts its still not the same as graduating early like itachi and kakashi are implied to have (i think?). there must be a factor of peacetime vs. wartime as well...
a thing i keep thinking of is like prodigies vs genius in association with characters like kakashi & itachi vs sasuke, which made more sense in my head. but listen the contrast between sasuke being really good (through ig both natural talent and hardwork) but from his perspective its not worth acknowledging bcs its still not good enough.
and like a part of this is obviously the underdog narrative, where the main character is generally average but ambitious, and through hard work or perseverance or something he excels and slowly over the story all the characters acknowledge his strength and that he was actually really cool all along. and a natural counterpart is that the naturally talented characters take everything for granted and are generally arrogant assholes that dont "deserve" strength bcs theyve never had to apparently worked hard for anything. and yeah its meant to make the reader feel better about themselves, that theyre great but people cant see it, and justifies their resentment/bitterness to people who they perceive as "not needing to working hard a day in their lives" and "undeserving" solely bcs they have natural talent. and the mc over the course of the story slowly achieves his dreams while those characters fall from grace. it can just feel like a really immature fantasy if not done right and given enough depth, and while its not that bad in naruto its still there.
oh and also a part of this is that the genius receives "attention", acknowledgement and popularity that the mc craves but appears takes it for granted. so the mc is simultaneously bitter and desires a rivalry and fantasizes about defeating them and feeling superior/ proving his worth while being extremely envious. ok this derailed a lot, to be clear i dont think naruto is a story like that, there are just certain common elements (that people exaggerate, but thats another thing)
but yeah sasuke is shown to have natural talent, (the sharingan and i remember a dialogue from orochimaru about how fast sasuke picks up things and how people used to call him a genius but it doesnt even compare to sasuke) but he...works and trains pretty hard. and he far from takes it for granted, as is the view people have formed from some of his lines about being uchiha.
generally all "superiority complexes" in media are rooted in a need to be strong, a inferiority complex if you will. disregard that actually, im probably misusing those terms bcs i dont know to frame it better. basically its never as simple as im the strongest and if im not i throw a hissy fit, theres sually a deeper reason behhind those feelings (in sasukes case he needs to be strong enough to catch up to itachi to avenge his clan and fulfill the goal itachi gave him, along with the entire "youre not stong enough now for me to kill you / cling to your pathetic life")
not to mention the indra and ashura thing and again being naturally talented is equated to arrogance(?)/not forming bonds with others/underestimating teamwork. not that people like that dont exist, but to make it like that everytime feels oversimplified
also its not like sasuke was this lone wolf type to the point of sabotaging everybody, in team 7 genin days atleast he understood the usefulness of teamwork well enough, and lifts up sakura and naruto at several instances (noticing and restoring sakuras confidence with the genjutsu thing at the start of the chuunin exams, he is also the first to feed naruto and pass kakashi's test), he allies with taka too (my takeaway is that he understands the benefits of teamwork well enough- but killing itachi is something he has to do alone)
also also i forgot the spelling of strength halfway through this and needed to google it

So i was watching those fillers about kakashi’s anbu days and an question came to my mind Why did tachi directly choose to kill the clan instead of trying to warn their parents and/or the uchiha clan first did he think they were too prideful to back down or completely leave the village or maybe he didn’t trust his OWN family
I mean if i was in that kinda of a situation (or heck even in any kinda of situation) the first thing I would’ve done; go to mom dad warn them/ask them what should i do, what should ‘we’ do and cannonically speaking itachi was 13 at the time and fugaku really seemed to be the most reasonable person to go to(while other uchihas were unnecessary being harsh to civilians during taking them into custody fugaku was the one to warn them) so itachi either, A) was kinda of an idiot who didn’t really think things through (wich I don’t think so cause he was supposed to be a genius at the very least a very smart person) or B) he was so arrogant thet he thought (an exceptional 13yo kid A FUCKING CHILD) he might be more suited and experienced! to handle the coup instead of going to his parents and I know ppl say that he got manipulated n stuff but c’mon wasn’t he basically the king of manipulation I don’t understand how he couldn’t thought anything besides killing everyone, wouldn’t taking sasuke and running should’ve been an option to what do you think
Also sorry for the long ass ask and I just realized ur one of my favorite fics authors i hope u update looking for forgiveness soon didn’t read such a good fan fic in a while i like ur writing sm <3
HI!! don’t ever feel sorry for long asks i love reading long stuff . and AHHH WOW thank you so much i do plan to update my fic very soon. the chapters almost done but i had some rly funky writer’s block hope u like it <3
no ur so right anon the way itachi handled the massacre was so strange? and that’s why i like to headcanon that itachi had a really strained relationship with his parents (albeit slightly better with fugaku) where he never came to them with any of his emotions/problems growing up and internalised that until the massacre. i think the second option is more probable. we know he didn’t like most of the clan members and we even see him fighting some. what with all his achievements as a shinobi and his anbu status, itachi seems like the kind of person.
i think taking sasuke and running away would have halted the coup, with the clan heir and second son gone, however i am of the belief that the coup would have been inevitable. maybe due to strained relations or danzo’s machinations, konoha doesn’t help out much with trying to find itachi and sasuke and that increases tensions even further. we know that uchihas love fiercely and it could even lead to the clan more determined to go forward with the coup and then use further resources to find sasuke and itachi. it seems like a short term solution to marginalisation that’s been simmering for decades. it’s a far better alternative to him outright committing genocide however.
maybe itachi did think telling them he was being pressured into killing the clan would have gone badly. he’s very against the coup and has made this clear with his antagonistic actions after shisui’s death. i’m almost certain people in the clan didn’t trust him at all. he was definitely of the belief that more vocal members of the clan would use that as a further incentive to go ahead with the coup, even kill danzo and the elders. (danzo’s root however would be a major obstacle)
i think fugaku would have listened to itachi though. the uchiha coup is one that could be interpreted as a last ditch retaliation from a clan who were shoved to a corner. fugaku clearly loves the village—the coup was intended to be bloodless if it went according to plan. the elders wouldn’t even be aware of it if itachi stayed silent. (but i do think the other clans would not support an uchiha hokage because their reputation worsened after the kyuubi attack) and let’s be real, the elders were insanely corrupt. (but I am of the belief the corruption is only possible because of the shinobi system in place but then that’s a whoooole other topic) itachi’s spy status already puts him as a traitor to the clan which would be a huge betrayal for fugaku who believed in itachi when others didn’t. itachi would be disgraced by his people for even being considered as someone who would be asked to kill them, you know? in that sense, itachi must have seen everything as a lose-lose scenario and went with the option that wouldn’t hinder konoha that much and as such the “peace”
leaving the village is an interesting option. i feel like unless the uchiha clan find a secure place to hide (they do have those hideouts) that ultimately konoha is the safest bet for them at the moment but the possibility of even konoha being unsafe is very real with the threat of danzo. the fact that the elders even considered genocide shows the uchiha’s standing in konoha. hidden villages must have loads of safety measures in place to stop shit like kidnappings for bloodline limits (hinata’s kidnapping attempt was only possible to happen because of the treaty being signed) and state secrets, that i’m sure the uchiha clan have. in short, the uchiha are way too intergreted into the village’s foundations to simply leave without repercussions. it’s interesting because they arent actually intergreted into the village at all. i’m sure they don’t know that many actual secrets about the village. they aren’t trusted—tobirama mentions this. but if they ever decided to turn against konoha or join another village their insight into how konoha shinobi and clans work as previous comrades would be invaluable. essentially, the only way for the uchiha clan to survive if they decide to leave would be to go into hiding, really insane crazy genjutsu hiding (which i believe is possible with such a strong clan) in that case, then Yes, the uchiha clan leaving would work. but i think itachi’s of the belief that uchiha pride would prevent them from ever considering hiding. so i’m more inclined to agree with the second option B
the genocide just doesn’t fit with a child who supposedly loves his clan. you don’t kill a clan you love for the village. moral standing aside, solving peace with violence isn’t peace. how can he call himself a pacifist but then have so much faith in the system he’s willing to kill his own people for it? i’s stupidity. there’s so many inconsistencies to itachi’s character because if he really did all of this for sasuke then why torture him? that’s unnecessary mental damage. he could invoke hatred without torture. he’s stated to have the wisdom of a kage at 7 but then makes really stupid decisions that don’t fit in with his whole master manipulator like you mentioned. with all of this ive just come to the conclusion that itachi was probably originally intended to be an antagonist but shit Happened like a popularity jump or smth and suddenly the narrative’s calling him a hero lmao, way to go against the original anti establishment themes from part 1 naruto kishi u bum
this got long really fast omg im sorry? but i hope my insight helped in some way? (or not i tend to ramble a Looooot) anyways ty for the ask i could honestly talk about the uchiha clan all day

@lotus-baby @depressedhatakekakashi
Today I offer you, the fix-it au of sorts i have regarding shippuden/boruto and that, because i keep forgetting to write it down:
- this is kinda self indulgent and is the general canon(?) of some of my fics so this is for reference, too xd (though i don't focus on more detailed aspects so this is for that). i can't focus on all characters but there's mostly stuff for; naruto, hinata, sakura, team gai and kakashi.
long post ahead:
Naruto
(trans, bi & poly)
he always wanted to be hokage, but it was more about the respect the hokage gets– few people treated him well. but if he became the leader of the village, he would be finally respected by civilians and ninjas alike.
they would stop being so mean with him without apparent reason. and after the pain arc, he becomes a hero and they all finally start treating him with the respect he had wanted for so long. so i think he would be satisfied with that and become a jounin instead. maybe even an anbu.
he still gets married with hinata and the last happens, though neither of them feel like it's... genuine. they're friends and all, they still have himawari and boruto– but they're not really happy?
naruto still likes sasuke, and had been hanging out with gaara since he came back from his trip with jiraiya. hinata realizes that the kind of love he feels with sasuke is stronger than the one they both have.
the next time sasuke comes to the village, naruto and hinata separate– but they're both alright with that. Neither naruto nor sasuke have many ties with the village and naruto started kinda crushing on gaara after a while, so they both move to Suna with him and are very happy together(sasuke sometimes goes nomadic for his missions but always sends letters to his boyfriends).
without the responsibilities of naruto being hokage, he in turn becomes a more present dad with himawari and boruto and they're very happy :) they see each other on weekends and naruto doesn't miss any important dates anymore.
gaara still adopts shinki, who loves his siblings very much and is very protective of them.
Hinata
(non binary, grayro & bi)
They're known for doing very good medicinal balms since the first Chunin exam. i think she could just.. Straight up sell some, if she needs to. i think they like gardening so maybe she grows her own herbs and plants, and starts a mini store of natural remedies that are very good. and shampoos and soaps and they becomes actually popular with their crafts.
this started becoming more occurrent when she and naruto were about to go on their own ways. They move back to the hyuga compound with her kids for a while and works more on that, with boruto helping her on this and him finding out that's actually very relaxing. it becomes their shared hobby and they bond with that, too. himawari just likes drawing but helps from time to time too.
Hinata became friends with tenten because she was interested on the spiritual side of the plants, as she likes fortune-telling. i think tenten does witchcraft too, more as a family tradition thing but still being very passionate about it.
after a while hinata kind of started having a crush on tenten because, well. naruto was someone that always did his best to get what he wanted, and tenten is like that too– with her weapons shop and that.
so they just... told her. but tenten didn't like her that way, or anyone. still holds hinata very closely in her heart, but not in a romantic/sexual way– they move together some months before boruto's seventh birthday, and they may not be dating but they still make it work.
later, when they have been together for years and years and people still wonder the nature of their relationship, they discover the term 'queerplatonic' and they feel like that's the word for what they have.
Tenten
(trans, non sam aro)
she is very happy with her weapons shop. started getting closer to hinata, though it wasn't romantic love what she felt– it was stronger than friendship, but. didn't had a name.
after hinata confesses, tenten is very confused and turns her down. she doesn't feel the same way, but... the thought of living with them was really nice. they end up moving together after a while, and enjoy each other's company a lot.
tenten still does her fortune-telling and ends up teaching hinata, boruto and himawari too. its a thing from her family, so it made sense for her to teach to her partner and kids.
Sakura
(demiromantic)
in part one, she was considered the best one out of her team. even sasuke said she was better than him, on genjutsu. she was smart until misogyny from kishimoto acted up, so we'll use the original concept without the misogyny.
smart, even better than an uchiha who even said to her that she was better... it's no wonder that she ended up being the hokage after kakashi. she was trained by a sannin, who was also hokage before kakashi... it makes sense if you really think of it!
well. she's the hokage and is living with ino, they have two kids- sarada, which sasuke helped conceive, and inojin. inojin was an orphan from the yamanaka clan that ino took in.
(sai is a father figure for him, and inojin even calls him dad– nobody minds, sai even smiles when that happens.)
back with sakura. she is a very strong and lovely woman, and is organized though she gets irritated easily so everyone knows to not mess stuff on purpose.
she has a long time as the leader of konoha, and is very loved and missed on the time of her retirement.
Kakashi
(trans, gay)
He pretty much spends most days with his husband after retirement– always made up excuses to cuddle with him instead of going to work when he was Hokage. Is more clingy than he lets show publicly.
He is very happy now than before. Takes a lot of photos as Suikea, and so far only Gai noticed it was him, but doesn't really mind.
Gai
(genderfluid, demisexual)
He moved in with kakashi after he recovered from the war. they were planning it since pain's invasion but life happens™ and they couldn't, then war started...
after everything is over, he makes sure to stay on contact with his team- they're his kids and he loves them with all his heart. makes sure to send them letters when they can't meet for a while for reasons. sometimes they all have dinner together and are very happy :)
Neji
(non binary, reciproro ace)
Neji almost dies in the war, but sakura managed to save him and that kind of started a friendship between the two. They get chronic pain because of all the injuries he suffered, but it's getting manageable with medicine and physical therapy. though sometimes its too bad to get up, but they go walking with hinata almost daily- she goes to his house and usually realizes something is wrong. either her, metal or lee realize and help him on the really bad days.
neji also has some birds and they all have silly names/names that rhyme– the older ones are called feather and heather, for example. they really love them.
Lee
(bi ace, sometime i write him as trans too)
He's still a jounin here and is very good at it. Sometimes he has to leave the village for entire months, but he always send his family and team stuff so they know he's alright.
Neji and him at first weren't going to have kids at all, but lee just saw metal and grew attached to him. They end up adopting him and the three are really happy, even if at first its complicated to adapt™ the two love their kid with all of their heart.

Now I understand what the anon told you yesterday, sorry if I talk about this (you can ignore this ask if it bothers you).
Kakashi's antis always complain that his fans see him as someone great, relatable, funny, serious, but I don't understand if they are bothered by the love the fans give to Kakashi or that he's so popular, I don't know, on top of that I hate that they always say "he's nothing special, he is no different from other characters", I don't understand why Kakashi has to stand out to not be boring, because when they talk about Kakashi they always want him to be deep or god, sometimes he can just peel a tangerine and for me that's great, just like they hate for any reason, why couldn't fans love for any reason?
Some people want a character to be soectacular. Above the rest. Made of ‘something diffrent’ it’s why you have such hype fan’s of character’s like Minato when we really have next to nothing on him. Because they see him as strong and intelligent so he stands out above others. Or the people who only began liking Gai after he used the eighth gate to almost murder a god status Madara.
Other people (like us for example) don’t require that. We’re not looking for a character to stand out above the rest and steal the spot light. We like the support character’s. The one’s with their specific talents who help push the main character forward, but who have characteristics of their own that set them apart from other’s (i know the confession you’re talking about makes it seem like Kakashi’s ‘just funny serious, and nothing special’ but he has a lot of depth to him that i think gets overlooked specifically because he doesn’t stand out right away.)
Kakashi isn’t just kind. He’s caring. He loves deeply and fiercely and becomes protective to a fault.
He isn’t seriouse, at all. He’s actually rather dorky but puts on a mask that’s not seeiouse but rather emotionless. Reactionless. Because he has been taught his whole life that Shinobi don’t show emotion so that’s his default setting. So a lot of his care and openness is overlooked by people because he’s not as open about it as Naruto, and it’s not as obviouse as when Sasuke finally breaks open and shows his emotions. Kakashi isn’t retraining himself like Sasuke, that’s just how he is. His emotions don’t have to break open the door to be let out, they leak through in small sweet ways.
He’s not just funny, he’s downright dorky. He doesn’t make a silly joke once in a while or do something that makes us chuckle for sake of the story. He’s openly an unrestrained dork. He makes stupid cat puns, does dumb little dances with his best friend, actively participates in competitions, is soft with his students.
I’ll always say people can dislike Kakashi or find him uninteresting. There are character’s i don’t like that i’m sure people would go ‘but why!?’ To, and it’s simply a fact of life
We arn’t all going to like the same character. Focusing on why people like a character though, ir trying to get people to like your fav because you do, is a waste of time. We all have diffrent tastes and that’s part of what makes the world wonderful.
We’re not all going to like the same thing or see the same value in things.

don't worry, i'm not the type of person who would let hate prevent them from enjoying their favorite characters. actually, the more hate sasuke gets, the more i love him. it's not even the fact that people dislike him that bothers me the most, it's the shitty reasons they always use to justify their hatred that actually piss me off. they're so hypocritical and full of double standards. many of them don't even get his characters right but then go around and accuse his fans of being stupid and lacking the intelligence to analyze the manga, or say shit like we only like him because he's hot and that prevents us from seeing how "terrible" he apparently is. i don't even know how many times i had to roll my eyes after seeing these idiots call him "women hating misogynist". or how many times i had to sit there and read shitty posts invalidating his accomplishments in combat, saying his wins are not legit because his opponents killed themselves or were going easy on him or whatever. people wouldn't be saying this shit if it was any other character, if it was any other character and the fights went the exact same way that character would get praised to the moon and back, but since it's sasuke it's crickets for these people. if only people were able to put aside their biases and objectively analyze the content they consume. if only.
I remember once someone said he’s baffled why anyone would bother to hate on Sasuke and that they must be a westerner who doesn’t understand his character or didn’t read the manga, then he proceeded to explain a bit about how he’s seen in Japanese fandom, and he got people mad and arguing in the replies lol. Sasuke’s one of the most complex characters in the manga and people only see him through incel glasses, it’s sad.
I don’t even think one has to love him, but to act like he’s a whiny emo after everything he had to go through? I really doubt any of them could come out of it balanced. And no it is not in any way comparable for what Naruto or Kakashi for example went through. I have explained already how genocide is a specific trauma, and especially if you witness it hundreds of times it probably will have some effect on you, aside from physical and psychological torture from your brother. And to top it you find out everything you thought you knew was a lie and your brother was used by the government who wanted your people gone. It’s incredibly messed up and I think it’s pretty impressive that Sasuke didn’t go full-blown crazy. I have seen people who don’t even personally fanboy/fangirl over him and prefer other characters who agree with me and think it’s baffling how people don’t see it.
Unfortunately, Sasuke was popular in middle school and that erased all else in people’s minds.

Whenever a character in naruto dies (or I feel like it) I simply pretend they have retired
Yamato, itachi, kakashi, and gai have a nice little farm/orchard,
but gai and kakashi are basically always going on their "2nd" honeymoon
so itachi ends up making kisame move in too so he can help out.
Guren and yukimaru are also there, running a flower stand to get a lil extra income.
Kimimaro visits and buys all of their flowers very often.
He runs a very lucrative "ivory" business bc no one knows it's him ivory. He just grows bone flowers and people pay a lot of money for it for some reason
He also sells tools and local craftsmen love him bc they're very high quality
He doesn't kill people anymore
He did reunite with orochimaru for a minute and was praised it was very heartwarming
Jiraiya runs a hot springs just a town over but comes to pick kakashis brain every so often
Asuma is the only one who can fix the damned tractor so he and kurenai come once a month or so
It's very educational for their kids
Yamato holds a haunted house every year for Halloween
It's very popular
Kakashi isn't allowed to help anymore bc he tased someone with his chidori and they got sued
Now he's a paying customer and yamatos worst nightmare
He just. Walks through. "Oh. So scary. A mummy" he says
Just you wait kakashi, just you wait. Yamato knows your weakness
Icha icha spoilers
Thank you Naruto
Anyways
Neji is not there bc he doesn't like farms much but he does come with Hinata and naruto as a chaperone on occasion
Itachi helps distract him so Hinata can sneak a kiss but there's only so much he can do
Sasuke comes and trains with itachi a lot but yamato had to say only like twice a week bc sasuke kept wrecking the orchard
Yes he can grow trees but he's just one dude give him a break
So now they have a nice bare mountain top to spar on
Shikaku and inoichi run a lil dojo with hanzo and mifune. Well, it's actually three rival dojos but there are only like three students and also only one good spot to spar bc sasuke breaks stuff
Well sasuke and naruto. And sakura. Also once tsunade visited jiraiyas hot springs and yeah
Minato and Kushina are just being great grandparents somewhere bc even though they got brought back by the edo tensei they just wanna be a part of a big family of dumbasses
It is occasionally weird though once naruto starts looking older than they are. Or that one time minato tried to make a new Jutsu and blew himself up
That was fun. Boruto didn't stop crying for hours
Obito runs an actual retirement center lmao old people love him
He just shows up at the farm and challenges kakashi to a duel sometimes
He, kakashi, and gai always cause a big ruckus bc he and gai get way too into whatever challenge it is
Also all the grannies from the retirement home send cookies and it makes gai cry
They are all friends
Did I mention itachi has a pet chicken
And all the farm cats love him he is a crazy cat lady at heart
Yes he gave sasuke a kitten bc sasuke needs a lot of unconditional love and sometimes naruto does actually have to do his job so
Sasuke and his cat play tag no I don't take criticism
The ninten love the farm it's very big and sometimes they get to pop out of nowhere and give people heart attacks
Pakkun has decided he is not a farm dog and likes to stay near the house when he's there
Bulldog though, loves it
He might live there 24/7 no one's sure
Fuu and naruto make all the jinchuriki get together every so often it's very awkward but nice
Fuu, naruto, and gaara get along best though- they are good friends
Shikamaru likes to come and pick apples with choji when they can
Obviously lee visits gai sensei all the time
Tenten too
Jugo and suigetsu run a little fish nursery and kisame helps them out when the farm gets too crowded
Nagato, yahiko, and konan mostly just travel but they do drop in on jiraiya when they're in the area
Jiraiya makes them pose for Christmas cards in froggy footie pajamas every year
It's great
Who am I forgetting
Oh yes
Danzo is in hell
