What would you say are your more controversial opinions about the hp characters?

ohhhh okayyy. i feel like my opinions on a lot of the characters aren’t controversial because i dont feel super strongly towards anyone in any negative light but here are some i could think of at the top of my head:

i’m glad the malfoys faced more extreme backlash after the second wizarding war. a lot of people in the fandom seem to be very sympathetic towards draco and scorpius for getting dogpiled with the brunt of it (which yeah, it sucks, especially for scorpius) but the prejudice makes complete make sense to me. if i was someone who didn’t know scorpius’ character, and had someone from my family get killed in the second war due to death eaters or something— seeing the malfoys still be wealthy and walk around freely without any jailtime, i would be bitter too. they’re hated on but they’re still one of the richest families ever, so they’ll live LOL

another anon has asked about this and i haven’t responded to them yet but when i do i will link it here for my reasons. basically: the best character in the cursed child is harry potter. i think the way they wrote his character and ptsd carried the play. it was def his story, not albus’.

i do think dumbledore has some aspects of him that may be considered morally gray, but mostly i dont think he is. he does everything for the good of the world, and his complete selflessness leads him to sacrifice anything for it— even himself and the people he loves, when necessary. i completely understand why people wouldn’t agree with his methods though.

james potter isn’t a sunshine character he’s a dickhead. fans of him made him a golden retriever character to be more palatable for modern times. i like him the way he is: an asshole and then less of an asshole 👍 this is what true stanning looks like

pansy parkinson is racist and out of all the female side characters, developing HER is so questionable from fandom

harry had questionable descriptions about a lot of male characters to make people think he could be a little 🏳️‍🌈 there was bill, there was sirius, there was cedric. but draco is not a part of that list. harry was not feeling draco whatsoever throughout the series but drarry shippers cling to that one ‘obsessed’ line

furthermore, harry rejecting draco’s offer of friendship wasn’t a sad or a ‘what if’ scene. draco was being a classist piece of shit and harry didnt want to fuck with that, there isnt any way in any timeline he wouldve accepted draco’s friendship.

slytherin sucks just generally lol. people want so bad to pluck anti-heroes out of a series that was written specifically with the mind to make all the characters suck.

hermione and ron’s drama isn’t as toxic as people make it out to be. yes, this includes the time hermione sent birds after him. people act like its the end of the world but she was tackling puberty and the end of society soooo i give her a pass to tweak out.

mostly every harry potter character has horrific names. like literally mostly everyone. even the name harry potter 🙁

severus snape’s ‘redemption’ or whatever was so ass. he bullies kids for five years and then everything is chill because… true love? on harry’s mum? are you kidding me 💀

james sirius potter - the star boy

- he's a big marvel fan and he lovess miles morales (he literally wants to be him), if he had a girlfriend he'd beg her to go as miles and gwen for halloween. literally don't talk to him about any superhero stuff though, he'll talk your ear off he's such a fanboy and gets like a little kid whenever he talks about batman, spiderman or captain america.

- he's extremely popular like almost ridiculously so. he has a huge friend group and everyone except maybe for the slytherins like and respect him. nobody says that they don't like james sirius potter and if anyone within the gryffindor house would even utter one bad word about him, they would definitely be frowned upon

- some say he's like a carbon copy of his father, because they're so similar in so many aspects (they're both sassy boys).

- OH he's absolutely a fuck boy. there's not a single doubt in my mind that he is. he's not against having a girlfriend but she'd definitely have to be super popular as well and stand out from the masses. he'd never date someone shy or introverted, since he's like "if the word 'extroverted' was a person" if you know what I mean. he just wants somebody to match his freak and do crazy irresponsible shit with. he's also the type of person who loves to go out & socialize so he'd need to date somebody who's also like that. he also needs to release the pent up energy inside him so staying in all of the time just isn't an option for him. but he would have introverted friends.

- he likes to make out with hot girls at parties and forget their name in the morning. he likes to drink and sometimes smoke as well. he's the life of the party, always animating everyone to dance and drink and play games, always doing smalltalk with everyone and remembering little details about them but forgetting the big things (like their name lmao). he's a beer pong champion and in general really good at all the party games. he's just like a party animal

- he always knows the right things to say at the right time and people adore him for it. he genuinely cares about everyone in his year, even the slytherin outcasts. if he sees someone crying or hurt he doesn't care who you are or which house you're in, he's cheering you up

- he likes to be the center of attention. whenever his dad is followed by paparazzi or journalists, he makes a show out of talking to them, posing for the cameras until he's pulled away by ginny. she's honestly so done with him by now because he's such a sucker for attention lmaoo. but then he ends up in like famous wizard magazines (even the daily prophet) and he just has the biggest, most smug grin on his face when he sees his picture, it definitely encourages him to keep giving the paparazzi what they want

- he's also a family guy even if he doesn't get along with albus that well. he loves his little sister lily though and his mom and his dad. christmas with his family is his favorite thing because he loves their little traditions. he always puts great care in what he gets eveyone as a present and he loves it when lily's face lights up when he gets her that exact thing she wanted. he also loves his grandmother (slayy grandma molly) and he always proudly wears the sweaters that she knits him! the whole weasley-potter-delacour and whatnot family always has a big get-together ont the 25th or 26th of december and that's where james whips out his guitar and performs the christmas songs he's been working on perfecting all season.

- he lovesss quidditch and dancing and he'd actually be the type to start kpop dancing or something and he'd be AMAZING like actually breathtaking. he's the only thing you can look at while he performs on stage, he's just the golden boy. he'd go to training like everyday when he's at home and while he's at school he'd practice on his own! he really looks up to celestia warbeck and wants to be the male version of her when he's older! definitely he's really dedicated and I can imagine him being in like a boy group when he's older or going on to be a solo performer

- he can also sing and play the guitar, bro writes his own songs! his voice is the one of an angel and whenever he sings at a gryffindor bonfire or party, the whole room is drawn to him, falls for him. he dreams of being an entertainer or professional quidditch player later in his life and he's honestly made for it as well. the scouts who watch him play or dance always eat whatever he does up. he's literally destined to be a superstar, plus he also has great advantages from being a nepo baby.

- he's not that good at school though, except maybe for flying class and some random subject like divination (let's be honest, only because he flirts with professor trelawney), he'll just get some ravenclaw girl to tutor him though

- he's the type to take feminist literature to a café and pretend he's reading it lmaoo. it's not like he's not a feminist or doesn't support women's rights (he loves women), the boy just doesn't read books, like at all. he just wants to pick up women with the feminist literature and he'll pretend like he's read the book.

- honestly he'd even listen to lana del ray or taylor swift and he's not embarrased or scared he'll be seen as gay or soft. he knows he's straight (maybe even a little heteroflexible) and cis and he doesn't feel threatened in his masculinity when a gay boy comes and flirts with him, he sees it as an honour and politely declines, I mean, he even has gay friends and gay cousins and bro let's be honest, even though he isn't out yet, his brother's definitely a bit fruity for his best friend scorpius. he's not scared of rumours about his identity or sexuality, people can misinterpret him, he literally doesn't care.

- unbothered king!! you either love him or you hate him but he literally doesn't care, he can be so nonchalant and can definitely break a girl's heart cause he literally DOES NOT CARE TUT and he's definitely gotten himself into a lot of situationships (like I said, he's a fuckboy) but he will only ever get with a girl he is in love with, he doesn't just bring any girl home to his momma, she'd have to be special

- apropos, he is such a mama's boy! not like those boys who's momma is in love with them and hates every girlfriend their son brings home, no, that's obviously not ginny, but he just honestly loves his mom! he likes to go shopping with her and lily or go get their nails done with them (yes, he also loves those pretty nails with designs, not the long acrylic ones obviously but the short ones. he practically advanced from just painting his nails black to getting designs on them)

- the best way to be in james' life is honestly to either be one of his cousins or friends. his friends are literally like family to him and he's so loyal to them. also he's such a fun friend and always comes up with the best ideas, it's never boring with him. he's also open to doing so many different things, depending on what his freinds are like. if you're introverted and like staying in, he'll literally just do that with you and yes, he'll even watch gossip girl and do face masks, he doesn't mind, he just likes spending time with his friends. he'll enjoy whatever he does as long as its with a friend. and if you're one of his cousins he'll literally treat you like a sibling / best friend because all of his cousins are his best friends

- he's sooo generous and caring. you haven't eaten all day and feel like you're about to die from starvation? have his entire sandwich and let him bring you a plate of food from the house elves kitchen to your room. you feel like throwing up? bbg he'll hold your hair while you're puking and give you back rubs. you don't have anything to do in the summer holidays? come with him on the potter family holiday to spain! he literally just wants his loved ones to be happy and he'll do anything for their happiness

A/N- this is probably my first entirely completed one shot? I know that many people aren't into the harry potter next generation fandom anymore, but I'll be honest, I'm in love with Albus Severus Potter 🫶🏻

I had a bit of a grudge against the Potters and the Weasleys, but hate me if you must. I mean, I get it, they're heroes for saving the Wizarding world and all. But their kids- they act like they're the kings and queens of Hogwarts, strutting around like they own the place. And everyone's clamoring to be their friend.

But what about the folks who got caught up unfairly after the war, you know? What about them? And with a Weasley or a Potter in practically every class, it's kind of hard to speak out against the crowd.

I found myself in a bit of a spat with the "golden trio" from the Weasley-Potter crew: Roxanne, Fred, and James. We're all in the same year, they're Gryffindors. They thought it'd be hilarious to dye all the Slytherin robes gold and red, playing up that age-old rivalry between the houses.

Hexes flew, points were docked, and detentions were dished out.

I found myself scrubbing the potions room alongside one of the OWL-level students who had volunteered for the task. Honestly, I only took Potions because it was a requirement for a Ministry job, but now I was seriously regretting it.

And wouldn't you know it, the fifth-year student paired with me was none other than Albus Severus Potter, younger brother to James Sirius Potter and cousin to Fred and Roxanne.

As I scrubbed cauldrons alongside Roxanne, I couldn't help but notice James, Fred, and Albus goofing around nearby. This was supposed to be detention, not some family reunion.

Rolling my eyes, I went to stack the dried cauldrons back on the shelves. As I did, I overheard Fred whispering to the Potter brothers.

"Did you hear what Wendy McGillick said about her? She hates all happy families because she doesn't have one."

Honestly, how these rumors differed from the truth, I'd never understand.

"You've gotta get your facts right, Weasley," I interjected, unable to hold back. "Besides, you know McGillick. She'd do anything to please her recent shag, even if it ranges from lying about a dormmate's life or faking an orgasm."

James burst into a fit of laughter, while his brother, at the back, offered only a soft smile. It made me wonder if he was as intolerable as the rest of his family.

Returning to scrubbing cauldrons with Roxanne, I caught her giving me a look, one I couldn't quite decipher. Was it pity? Concern? Confusion?

"What's on your mind, Weasley? If you weren't dating Bradley Woods, I'd think that stare of yours was insinuating something," I remarked to Roxanne.

She scoffed and rejoined her family, who seemed to have finished their tasks in the potions room.

"Lock up, Rowle," she muttered as she grabbed her bag and headed out the door. I finished up the last of the cleaning, only to realize that the golden trio had left something—or rather, someone—behind. Albus Potter.

"Potter? Why aren't you with your family? They just left a few minutes ago. If you hurry, you might catch up with them," I said to him.

He hesitated, as if wanting to say something, but in the end, he simply nodded and left the room.

I pondered if Albus might have selective mutism, but quickly dismissed the thought, considering he was currently serving as the appointed Gryffindor prefect.

This wasn't the first time he'd attempted to speak to me but failed. The second instance was when I was tutoring another of his cousins, Molly Weasley. She was a bright student, albeit with a touch of ego, but I let it slide because of her excellence in Charms.

"You're so good at Charms, why did Flitwick assign you a tutor?" I inquired of Molly.

"I'm good at the theoretical part, but my wand movements aren't accurate enough," she explained.

"They would be if you'd actually do some spells, Mols," a voice chimed in. I turned to see Rose Weasley, with Albus trailing behind her, burdened with four heavy books.

"It's illegal to do spells outside school," Molly retorted.

As the banter between Rose and Molly continued, I turned to Albus and remarked, "Wilderwal's guide to excelling in Transfiguration, huh? That's a solid set of books. But when I was preparing for the OWLs, I used Nook's OWL Helper."

He simply nodded, as if about to say something, when Rose called to him, and he hurried out of the room.

"Does he have some kind of mutism?" I asked Molly.

"Who? Al? No, he's just very shy," she replied.

There were moments during tutoring when I felt truly happy. It felt like a blessing to pass down knowledge to someone younger or in need of a little help.

The week before Christmas, as everyone was packing to leave, I received an envelope from Molly. Inside was her Charms test, marked with an E. A letter fell into my lap, and it read:

Dear Rowle,

Merry Early Christmas. I wanted to show you my Charms test in person, but I had to leave early for Christmas, like every year, the whole family is gathering, so I couldn't miss it.

I'm really grateful for all the help you've given me, so please accept this as a token of gratitude.

PS - Albus hasn't stopped talking about his embarrassing moment with you.

Laughing, I unwrapped the small box and pulled out a pair of earrings shaped like the golden snitch.

The earrings were adorable, and they ended up being the only Christmas present I received.

As everyone prepared to depart for the holidays, the Great Hall was bustling with activity, filled with trunks and people exchanging hugs, promising to keep in touch over Christmas.

I made my usual decision to stay behind, as I did every year. However, this time, an unexpected person made the same choice. Albus? Didn't he have a family gathering to attend?

As everyone else departed, the headcount of those staying dwindled to ten: Albus, Henry, and Bradley Wood, Fidela MacMillan, the Patil triplets, Scorpius Malfoy, Natasha Meyers, and myself.

I tapped Albus on the arm, noticing his height towering above most of his cousins. He turned around, looking surprised to see me.

"Why aren't you at the station? Don't you have a family Christmas to attend?" I inquired.

Well, it seemed the boy could actually speak.

"Uh, yeah. I just didn't feel like going. Needed a break from attending it for 15 years straight. Plus, Scorp is staying, and, you know, Meyers is staying," he rambled.

Meyers and Malfoy? Who would've known.

"Why are you staying?" he asked me, and I could see the instant regret flicker across his face as I raised an eyebrow at his question. Deciding to keep my response brief, I replied, "I stay back every year. Nothing new."

He simply nodded. Just a nod. Molly was right; he was indeed shy, unlike half of his cousins who I was accustomed to, who were obnoxiously loud. This one seemed tolerable.

He bid goodbye in such a soft whisper that I might have missed it if I had been even a centimeter farther away. Watching his retreating figure, I couldn't shake this feeling of curiosity, this desire to know more about him.

"Miss Rowle, I suppose Mr. Potter has caught your curiosity?" I heard Professor Parkinson, the potions teacher, say to me. As the head of the Slytherin house, she was well-informed about, well, my family.

Considering how Professor Parkinson had also been through a similar situation to mine, I felt she was one of the teachers I could rely on. No wonder Professor Slughorn personally recommended her to the Headmistress.

"No, Professor, nothing like that. It's just that he's different from the rest of his family, which caught me off guard. Nothing about curiosity, besides, he's two years younger. I can't possibly be friends with him. And he's a Gryffindor," I added, emphasizing the last part.

The next morning, I realized I had nothing to do except tackle the one-thousand-word Potions essay on the Mandrake Potion due after the winter break. Heading to the library, I greeted Madam Pince and scanned the vast space for a seat.

Considering there were only ten students staying back, I expected the library to be entirely empty. But it wasn't. Potter was buried in heaps of textbooks, engrossed in his reading, his hair falling over his eyes. I fought the urge to push it back for him.

Taking a seat next to him, he briefly glanced up and then around the library.

"If you want, I can sit somewhere else," I offered, starting to rise from my chair. He immediately shot up, creating an echo in the already quiet library, prompting Madam Pince to shush us. He apologized to her and then turned to me, saying, "No, you can sit here. Just surprised you chose to sit here when there are plenty of empty seats."

I smiled at his words. He was truly something else. "I usually like a bit of company when I read. It helps me stay connected to reality and not disappear into the textbooks," I quipped, teasing him about getting lost in his books.

His playful smirk danced on his lips, leaving me curious if they were as soft as they looked.

As I worked on my essay in silence, I couldn't help but steal glances at Albus while he worked. He was engrossed in Advanced Potions V, a book we didn't touch until seventh year, reserved for those undergoing professional potions training. This boy was full of secrets.

"Advanced Potions V? Do you even understand the contents of that book?" I asked him, noting his offended expression at my question.

"I really like Potions, and I tend to study it a little in advance. It'll be helpful during O.W.Ls and N.E.W.Ts. Besides, it's quite fun once you get the basics cleared," he explained, and I found myself enjoying listening to him talk.

"Well, Albus, if you're quite advanced in Potions, perhaps you could overlook my Mandrake Potion essay assigned by Parkinson," I suggested, sliding my essay toward him. He took it and skimmed through it.

"You need to start with an introduction about Mandrakes and their fatal cries, then discuss their use in medicinal potions. Also, you've veered from the main points and focused too much on the procedure rather than the purpose of each step and ingredient," he explained carefully.

"Introduction to Mandrakes? But I dropped Herbology in sixth year. Besides, this isn't an essay assigned by Professor Longbottom. Why do I need to write about the plant? Is this Professor Parkinson's way of expressing her undying love for Professor Longbottom? He's married and has two kids," I remarked matter-of-factly, referring to the rumored relationship between the two professors.

"He's married to her, and they have two kids together. Rowle, did you actually not know this? Isn't Professor Parkinson close to you?" Albus asked, sounding amused. Pansy Parkinson and Neville Longbottom were married. What.

"You've got to be kidding me. How? What? So, you're telling me Francesa and Alice Longbottom's mother is Professor Parkinson? I swear I heard Francesa complain about Professor Parkinson being unfair to her," I exclaimed in disbelief.

"You daft mare. Happy realization, love. Every year, Professor Parkinson assigns a Mandrake essay to her seventh years, and on the night of their anniversary, they sit together and correct the essays," Albus explained in a storytelling manner, revealing his romantic side.

"I don't want to know about their love life. Anyways, how do you know so much about the professors?" I asked before realizing he was a Potter, and his parents were close with most of the teachers at Hogwarts.

"I'm a Potter, remember?" he said with a sigh, flinching as he said it. He knew. He knew about my hatred for his family. I felt a pang of guilt for making my feelings toward the Weasley-Potter clan so evident.

He called my name softly, as though speaking any louder would hurt me. Why would it hurt me? Shouldn't I be the one comforting him? Was I the reason he had shut himself out?

"Rowle, if you're comfortable with it… I overheard Fred and Louis talking about your family. Louis said your family was wrongfully accused of something, while Fred stated that you don't have a family of your own," he asked hesitantly. I had been bombarded with this question many times in my seven years at Hogwarts. I snapped at people and asked them to mind their own business, but for Albus, I felt I could trust him, and the words flowed out.

Being a Rowle wasn't easy. The sacred twenty-eight was now in decline. I was the only surviving Rowle, and with me, the bloodline would end.

"It's fine, Potter. They're both right, actually. After the war, my family was accused of being Death Eaters. My father, Romulus Rowle, was wrongly identified as Rudolph Rowle, his twin brother who was the Death Eater. My father was sentenced to death, and my mother couldn't bear it. She fell sick and passed away," I explained, feeling a sense of comfort as Albus rubbed his thumb over my palm.

"So, your cousins are somewhat right. My family was wrongfully accused, and yet I have no family," I said, attempting to lighten the mood. But Albus's eyebrows furrowed, so I reached out and smoothed out the creases in his forehead, noticing a faint blush on his cheeks.

Clearing his throat, he stood up. "I hope you know that you aren't defined by your last name, right? Molly hasn't stopped talking about you being her favorite Slytherin. And she doesn't pick favorites easily."

"Albus?" I said hesitantly, catching his attention. He looked at me expectantly, but I took a moment to gather my thoughts before speaking. "You know, you don't need to shut your family out. They have your back at all times, even if they're famous. Don't miss out on Christmas gatherings next time, okay?"

He simply nodded.

After the Christmas break ended, the school was once again filled with students, which meant less time for me to spend with Albus, as he had to focus on studying for his O.W.Ls.

Throughout the Christmas break, I hung out with Albus a lot. His friends, Malfoy and Meyers, were too busy snogging in some broom closet, and he preferred to avoid that sight. Getting to know Albus a bit more during the break, I realized he was quite the flirt, even though people said James was the flirt among the two.

"Rowle?" he said, laying down on my lap as I read a book in the field, waiting for him to finish his flying practice. Would you believe me if I told you that Albus was expected to be the top scorer in the O.W.L exam and an excellent seeker on the Gryffindor Quidditch team?

As I made a sound of acknowledgment, he put on a sly smirk and said, "I know I'm a Gryffindor, but would you let me slither-in to your bed?" It was the classic, overused Slytherin joke.

"Honestly, Potter, weren't you supposed to be charming?" I scoffed, and he chuckled. "Hey, in my defense, I'm using romantic lines appropriate for your age, you know, older women types?" he teased, earning himself a glare from me.

During the break, he had shared stories about his family. Turns out, they were just a regular family who loved each other. Maybe I should try to be more friendly or normal towards them.

I was heading back to the Slytherin dungeons when I was pulled into a corridor. Instinctively, I reached for my wand, ready to defend myself against whoever had dared to kidnap me in broad daylight. To my surprise, it was the girls of the Weasley-Potter family: Dominique, Roxanne, Lucy, Lily, and Molly. Molly gave me a silent apology before Dominique, the eldest among them, spoke up. She had graduated a year ago and was Gryffindor's star chaser and captain in her seventh year, Louis Weasley's older sister.

"Didn't you graduate a year ago?" I asked Dominique, but Lucy answered instead, "She came to visit."

"Ah, but may I ask why I've been kidnapped? I have to get to my dorm, you know?" I inquired, looking at all the girls, but my gaze settled on Lily, the youngest Potter sibling. Albus had told me she had a tough time adjusting to Hogwarts; only in her third year, she was fiery and bold, matching her red hair.

"You've been snogging Albus, haven't you?" Lily said, sounding protective of her brother. "No, I haven't been snogging your brother, Potter," I replied coolly, though it wasn't exactly a snog. Just a simple kiss during Christmas dinner when Bradley Wood had charmed a mistletoe above us.

"My boyfriend—Bradley Wood—told us that you and Albus had been hanging out a lot around Christmas," Roxanne blurted, turning a little red as she mentioned her relationship with Wood.

"There were ten people, excluding the teachers, and I didn't want to disturb Professor Longbottom and Professor Parkinson during their wedding anniversary. They'd sent their daughters away to their great-grandmother's house just so they could enjoy some time together. And your brother was surprisingly tolerable, so it's basic human adaptation to find a comrade to prevent loneliness," I explained, hoping to diffuse any anger directed at me. They were only looking out for Albus, as anyone would—he deserved the world.

Dominique had been quiet throughout the exchange. She sighed and looked at me. "Rowle, just—just don't play with his feelings. He's a sensitive boy, and he's going through his angsty phase too." Her words struck a chord; she was the only one who had said something actually relevant to why they had kidnapped me.

"Dominique, I would never hurt Albus. And I promise you, I'm not going out with your brother, nor do I intend to. Besides, he's underage, and I'm no pedophile. And yeah, I would rather die than hurt him," I stated quietly before leaving, making my way back to my dorm. Little did I know, a certain boy had been listening in on our conversation.

Sitting in the courtyard, I was engrossed in a charms textbook when Albus approached me, his demeanor indicating he had been crying or lost in thought for the past week.

"Hello, Albus. Long time no see. The last time we properly spoke was Christmas, right?" I greeted him, patting the space next to me. He refused to sit. "No. No. I will not let you play around with my feelings."

What was it with these Potters-Weasleys always accusing me of playing with Albus's feelings?

"What do you mean?" I asked, standing up and crossing my arms defensively. "I heard what you said to my sisters—that you do not intend on dating me, that you would rather die. The stolen kisses meant a lot, more than you'll know," I said softly, hoping not to hurt him further. He already seemed fragile with all the emotions he'd been experiencing.

"Will you wait? Two more years," he asked uncertainly. "I will if you will." Merlin, it was the most nerve-wracking yet sweetest moment I had ever experienced. "I promise on Godric's sword that I will not look at another woman in any romantic way, apart from you," he said convincingly. Who knew the fifth year had so much in him?

"Albus? Kiss me," I said, and without hesitation, he leaned in, sealing our promise with the first official-unofficial kiss between us.

"I guess now I can tell Lily that I did in fact snog her brother," I said lightheartedly. Albus rolled his eyes. "Way to ruin the mood after we've just kissed, Rowle."

abigail longbottom, probably one of the first ocs i ever settled on. she's neville and hannah's daughter, lucy's best friend, a gryffindor who never thinks of herself as brave. she's surrounded by very high-drama high-intensity gryffindors and is very quiet in comparison, but has a heart of steel. she gets pregnant by james when they're too young for a baby, keeps it, and eventually falls in love with fred while james figures out his various fuck-ups with some help

ysella fawley, one of albus and scorpius' best friends in their little slytherin circle. from a kinda new money pureblood family that found themselves on the up and up after the war when all the old money fams fell hard, she was raised rich and spoiled, but really cares about nothing besides quidditch and her best friends. and hooking up with girls.

sebastian rosier, not in any of the next-gen kids' squads but loosely associated with lucy through her drag racing, on a rival team full of spoiled rich brats (very much old money - rosier, shafiq, etc), his daddy funds the illegal race track and is also a mafia boss, got lots of issues. may or may not ever overcome them.

katherine parkinson, molly's work rival in adulthood, daughter of pansy's older brother, a nepo baby and journalist who is very cutthroat and calculated about getting ahead. becomes a political correspondent to the ministry, where she meets louis weasley, who falls in love with her on the spot. this causes a lot of issues because she's already betrothed to a pureblood guy whom she hates.

edelweiss urquhart, known as edie, pansy's daughter with orville urquhart. her parents are divorced, hate each other, and use her as a toy to compete with each other. gets bullied by the other slytherin girls in her year and ends up adopted by lily and dominique's gaggle of gryffindor girls instead.

jake longbottom, son of neville and hannah, abby's older brother, the quintessential golden gryffindor boy that all the other kids inevitably have to be compared to because he's just so put-together. becomes an auror like his godfather harry; privately a lot more of a mess than he'll ever let on. very hard to read.

luke, elijah, and marnie goldstein, children of anthony goldstein and hannah's little sister bethany. close family friends with the potters because bethany worked on the aurors with harry. luke and james are best friends in a very bro-y way; marnie is part of lily's troublemaker group; elijah and albus hooked up a few times in sixth year and now hate each other. it's great.

iseult (issie) malfoy, younger sister (by five years) of scorpius, probably my number one kiddo, she ranks along with the canons for me. nobody who knows her, except her family who somehow managed to miss it, is surprised when she's sorted into gryffindor. she's physically fearless, obstinate, and much tougher than she looks. adores her immediate family (and has some struggles reconciling what she knows about them with how other people see them), but rebels stubbornly against their attempts to make her into a proper pureblood girl, because she's a leggings-wearing, grubby-fingered, harpies-supporting cat girl. eventually grows into herself, gains confidence, and ends up captaining the gryffindor quidditch team. probably plays professionally after hogwarts for a while, but i haven't got that far with her.

sophie longbottom, daughter of neville and hannah, the same year as iseult and also sorted into gryffindor. issie and sophie become best friends almost immediately, a fact their respective fathers just have to deal with (with varying levels of equanimity), because you don't argue with 11-year-old girls' friendships. sophie is a lively, friendly chatterbox, very socially confident, and absolutely unhesitant in choosing her friends. she's a little naive, and tends to assume that the world is a good and just place, and gets shocked by the bad sides of life. she tends (especially as a child) to assume that authority figures can be trusted and the system works, and gets a bit worried about things like breaking rules.

titus hart, one of my complete ocs, in that both his parents are also ocs, but please don't hold that against him. titus is lucy weasley's year (two years below lily and hugo), and his grandmother runs the white wyvern pub in knockturn alley, a seedy underworld hub. he's a slytherin, but never quite fits in with his pureblood housemates, since he's a halfblood from a family without much money. he's foul-mouthed, grumpy, and protects himself by pretending to be a dick, which works because he's also very large and looks intimidating. underneath it all, titus is an absolute sweetheart, you just have to earn his trust to see it. he is reluctantly dragged into lucy's hogwarts theatre club.

hazel kitson, a muggle, but stick with me. when hazel's six, she makes friends with the weird little boy with the strange name in the playground and, being six, is mostly unfazed by the revelation that he's a wizard. skip forward ten years, and hazel kitson and scorpius malfoy are the most unlikely pair of best friends ever. hazel is independent, resourceful, and eternally curious about everything. if she encounters a puzzle or mystery, she can't rest until she solves it, which becomes an issue when one of the puzzles she can't solve is james potter. (shameless plug for the fic i'm currently writing about this on ao3.)

dannicus (danny) urquhart, one of scorpius's closest friends at hogwarts. younger son of a traditional pureblood family, danny suffers from being the disappointing second to his golden boy brother auster, who, as well as being his parents' favourite, is also an enormous dick. danny can't stand most of his large family and disagrees with their (traditionalist) politics, but deals with that by pretending not to take anything seriously. one of his love languages is making fun of people, he loves to stir shit, and will never let go of anything. on the flip side, he's also surprisingly emotionally intelligent and open with his affections, and he's absolutely ride-or-die for his friends.

Ronald Bilius “Ron” Greengrass (née Weasley) (b. 1 March 1980), is a English pure-blood wizard, the sixth and youngest son of Arthur and Molly Weasley (née Prewett). He is the younger brother of William, Charles, Percy, Fred and George, and the elder brother of Ginny. Along with his siblings, he was raised at the Burrow, on the outskirts of Ottery St. Catchpole, Devon.

Ron began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1991 and was sorted into Slytherin House, the first in centuries for both of his parents’ respective families. This resulted in a protracted deterioration of his relationship with his immediate family. He quickly became friends with Tracey Davis, the duo bonding over being the outcasts of their year. Later, the two would befriend cousins Daphne Greengrass and Theodore Nott. Together, the quartet would traverse many adventures together.

After being coerced into taking the Dark Mark, Ron found himself at the forefront of numerous battles and skirmishes in the Second Wizarding War. Some battles included the Attack on Greengrass Manor (1996), Attack on the Bones Family Home (1996), Skirmish at Owler Tor (1997) and the Battle of the Seven Potters (1997). Ron was named prefect in his fifth year at Hogwarts, alongside then girlfriend Daphne Greengrass. 

He skipped his last two years of school to go on the run after being disowned by his family for having the dark mark. He would eventually seek refuge with his great-great aunt Muriel Prewett, who to prove his loyalty to his family, amputated his own arm that had the dark mark. Later, Emmeline Vance—who was rescued by Ron at the Skirmish at Owler Tor—inducted Ron alongside the Greengrass sisters, Muriel Prewett, Percy Weasley, Audrey Honywood, Amelia Bones, Tracey Davis and Theodore Nott into the Order of the Phoenix as secret members.

After they both turned 18 years of age, Ron and Daphne got married on 20 March 1998, in hopes that they could share their love completely should they not survive the war. The wedding was a small affair located at the Prewett Family Home, officiated by his brother Percy and attended by the hidden members of the order. Due to Ron’s thoughts on his disownment, he took Daphne’s name, becoming Ronald Greengrass.

Operating as secret order members, Ron, Daphne, Tracey and Theodore helped escort numerous muggleborn families, squibs and other persecuted folk to seek refuge in magical and non-magical France. He alongside with the order fought in the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998, during which he lost relatives and friends including Astoria Greengrass, Tabby the House Elf, Theodore Nott, Tracey Davis and Emmeline Vance. With Astoria’s death devastating Ron immensely.

For a period of time, Ron was believed to be dead by the public and his family—due to his unknown escape of a blasting curse that Bellatrix Lestrange shot at him—until he was revealed to be alive by Molly Weasley’s Charmed Clock that indicated that he had been moved to St. Mungo’s Hospital to recuperate from his injuries sustained at the Battle of Hogwarts.

After the war, Ron remained in St. Mungo’s for almost three months to recover. He had lost an eye, and had chunks of his left leg that were blasted away from his duel with Bellatrix. Ron reconciled with his family during his time in recovery and was welcomed back into the family. Following his release from St. Mungo’s, he was soon arrested by aurors for being a suspected Death Eater and was sent to Azkaban pending his trial. He was later released after his trial revealed him innocent—thanks to witness accounts by Amelia Bones and memories from Daphne and Percy.

Due to Muriel’s death, in her will, Ron was named the Prewett heir and the legal guardian of his second cousin Mafalda Prewett, whilst she stayed in Britain—Something Ron had come to enjoy. Ron would eventually move into the Prewett Family home with Daphne. He would later take his old Chess mentor’s place as the Mentor and Sponsor of the Hogwarts Chess Club. He would later join his wife in maintaining her family’s Real Estate business. He would also serve a year working as a temporary Professor of Potions at Hogwarts. He and Daphne would later have two children named Astoria II and Nico Greengrass. He was also named the Godfather to his nephew Garett Weasley, his brother’s Fred Weasley’s and Hermione Granger’s eldest child.

Hello! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another Weasley Wednesdays! For this week, due to my lack of writing ability and my love for this fic and the Weasley cousins, I’m here to do a shameful self-promo. 

This here is a snippet from Chapter 3 of my fanfiction: Room On The Third Floor, which is a scene with all the Weasley cousins who show up in support of Scorpius (and Albus) and remind Albus what family is all about. Enjoy :) It’s long, so I do apologise for that!

“Guys? Everything all right?” Lily’s voice sounded from the other side of the door. They jumped apart and shared an exasperated look before Scorpius unlocked the door and opened it with his wand. The moment had disappeared, and Albus couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.

His overbearing family and Jenny piled into the classroom. It seemed more of Albus’ cousins had showed up. Domi, Louis, Freddie, Hugo and little Lucy had popped up from somewhere. It seemed only Roxanne and Rose were missing and- nope, there they were. Albus didn’t realise he’d signed up for a family meeting.

“Fine,” Scorpius spoke, but his voice was strained.

“That was rough, Scorp,” James said, walking over and placing a hand on Scorpius’ shoulder. He had clearly witnessed it.

“Yeah, Fletcher is a douche,” Molly chipped in helpfully, jumping onto a desk.

“What happened?” Hugo asked.

“Fletcher Adams refused to make Scorpius Slytherin seeker purely because of who he is, which is not only extremely discriminating but also just plain mean. Scorpius, I’ve literally known you for five days, but you’re the nicest person I’ve ever met and deserve to be treated better than that,” Jenny said, making her way through the mass of Weasley-Potters to stand next to Scorpius. She pulled him in for a hug, and Albus saw him tense slightly before he settled into it.

“Thanks, Jen,” he smiled, though Albus could tell it was forced.

“So, what’re we going to do?” Louis asked, a grin on his face that mirrored Freddie’s.

“Yeah, are we going to get him back?” Freddie asked, and Albus could swear that if you looked close enough, you could see the ideas swirling through his brain.

“No,” Scorpius cut them off and they both deflated. “You guys are amazing, but I’m not going to do anything to him.”

“Why not?” Lily asked. She had a bone for pranks too.

“Because it’s not me. Look, I wanted to join Quidditch because I wanted people to look at me and see Scorpius. Not a Death-Eater’s son or the boy who fucked up the world by trying to change time,” at that, Albus reached out and squeezed his hand. “Obviously, even Quidditch can’t do that for me. So, I’m going to do something different. I’m going to find a different way, my way, to show people I’m not a monster. To show them that I’m only a Malfoy by name but not by personality.”

The fire in his eyes had returned, but this time it wasn’t anger. No, it was determination. Albus had no idea what he was cooking up in that brain of his, but if he knew Scorpius, then it would be brilliant.

“So, then what are you going to do?” Hugo asked, and the Weasley-Potters looked among themselves when Scorpius shrugged. Albus watched as his mind faded away, letting him get lost in his thoughts for a moment.

He looked to his family, who were all looking at him with such intensity it was heart-warming. It had only just occurred to him that they hadn’t come here because it was Albus that was being discriminated against, but because it was Scorpius. That day Scorpius came over the summer, he was welcomed into the family with open arms. Albus smiled knowing his family were still looking out for him. They were willing to risk detention because of some prick who somehow made Quidditch captain. They were treating him like one of their own without Albus asking them to.

He looked among them. To James, Freddie and Louis who looked ready for a fight if that what Scorpius asked for. To Domi, Molly and Lucy who were ready with their arms open if Scorpius requested a hug. To Rose and Roxy, who had a fire in their eyes not unlike Lilys, ready to hex if needed. To Hugo, who looked at Scorpius with a proud smile, and he knew he would be proud no matter what came out of Scorpius’ mouth next.

Albus felt a swell of love for his family in his heart and thanked every star he could imagine for their existence. Twenty years ago, the Weasley’s would never have dreamed of being in the same room as a Malfoy and ready to defend his honour. As a family, they had overlooked the prejudices’ of the past that even their parents suffered through, and openly accepted Scorpius. If the Weasley-Potters could achieve that in one day over summer break, then why couldn’t the rest of the world get on board just as easily?

Scorpius snapped from his reverie and gave Albus a proud smile.

“So…?” Rose prompted, clearly noting Scorpius’ breakthrough.

“I’m going to change the world, one lonely nerd at a time,” he spoke proudly, a grin of pure elation on his lips. No one had any idea what it meant, but for the second time that day, Scorpius was out the room in a rush of black and green robes.

"I still don't see why we can't do the wedding ceremony at the Manor," Albus mutters grumpily. "There would be plenty of room for the shitloads of Weasleys that got invited and for all of dad's friends."

"You know Draco wanted to make dad happy," James replies for what feels like the hundredth time with a deep sigh. "The Burrow feels like home to him."

"But it's his second marriage!" Albus points out again.

"So? Home is home," James says with a shrug. "You're just pissed off because you have to share a bed with Hugo."

"This is so unfair!" Albus groans, elbowing his brother. "You get to share with Teddy, and Lily has Rosie. Why can't I sleep with Scorpius?"

James smirks, raising an eyebrow at Albus.

"Because Draco's not an idiot, and he knows you two will get up to no good," James explains, enjoying the way his brother's cheeks turn tomato red in embarrassment.

"As if you weren't lusting over Teddy and hoping to fuck him," Albus retorts, and James gives him an incinerating glare and shushes him before anyone can hear them. "Besides, we're both over eighteen. What the fuck!"

James shrugs, threading his fingers through the grass and staring at the sunset. The house is full and loud, and he always struggles with family gatherings, especially when Teddy is around. James can't stop staring at him, following his bright smile and rainbow hair with his eyes as if attracted by a magnet. He has no idea how Teddy hasn't figured it out yet, but his Slytherin little brother definitely has.

James is stupidly and madly in love with his godbrother, and there's no way Teddy could return his hopeless feelings.

"Boys! Dinner's ready!" Molly calls, and they both sigh at the same time, sharing a glance before they find the courage to go back inside.

James feels Teddy's gaze on him all evening, as if they switched roles for once. He wonders if it's because Harry announced they were going to share a bed, or if it's because Draco took him aside to tell Teddy something important that James is dying to know, or if it's because Albus won't stop teasing him about all of his wet dreams coming true.

By bedtime James is a bundle of nerves, and Teddy is lying in their very small bed in the attic with flushed cheeks and a tentative smile. 

James slides under the blankets and stares at the ceiling, extremely conscious of every single inch of his skin that is in direct contact with Teddy's. Why is he wearing a pair of shorts and a t-shirt? He should have picked something more covering, and shit–is Teddy only wearing boxers?

The bed is so small that every time he shifts, James ends up pressed even more against Teddy.

"Err…" he starts, mouth going dry.

"We should-"

"I mean…"

James turns to look at Teddy, who turns at the same time, and their lips suddenly touch. They both freeze, noses pressed against each other on the pillow, and Teddy's eyes are so close, his hair flashing magenta, then purple and dark blue before Teddy lets out a shuddering breath and kisses him fully on the lips. 

James melts into it, moaning helplessly as Teddy's warm hands cup his cheeks and pull him closer, deepening the kiss until James is whimpering into his mouth and sneaking his fingers under Teddy's soft t-shirt, finding smooth and hot skin, begging to be touched.

"Fuck, I didn't think you would want this," Teddy murmurs, brushing a kiss on the corner of James's mouth. "Jamie…my Jamie…"

"I've wanted to do this for so long," James confesses, his face heating up as Teddy smiles at him and kisses the tip of his nose. And it's a good job James is lying down, because otherwise he would already be a puddle on the floor.

"Me too," Teddy admits, and James thinks he wants to spend the rest of his life in Teddy's arms, in his bed.

"Can I kiss you again tomorrow?" he asks sheepishly, and Teddy grins.

"I'm counting on it," he replies. "I'm planning on kissing you tomorrow and the day after, and the one after that while I take you on a date."

"Sounds like a brilliant plan," James says, and his heart feels like it's about to burst.

"Good," Teddy whispers in the dark. "I'm going to kiss you some more now, okay?"

"More than okay."

Angelina Johnson: Hello wizarding world. My name is Red-Hot, and you are welcome to this very special ladies night edition of Potterwatch. I am joined today by my lovely co-host, Ridgeback.

Alicia Spinnet: Pleasure to be here Red-Hot.

Angelina: We’re hosting today because River and Rapier are appearing before the Wizengamot today for breaching the international statute of secrecy, among 361 other charges.

Alicia: That’s right Red-Hot. Which brings us on to today’s news. Beloved joke manufacturer George Weasley, and noted entertainer and Griffyndor quidditch team fan Lee Jordan, are currently appearing before the highest court in the land for a variety of crimes.

Angelina: Weasley alleges that his ‘pocket chimera’ product, a miniaturised chimera toy, is not in fact dangerous.

Alicia: This comes after the charms on the product malfunctioned, and no fewer than 12 chimeras grew to gigantic size and terrorised muggles across the country, including members of the royal family.

Angelina: Although it is traditional for the Queen to be informed of the existence of magic, and in fact 2 of Queen Victoria’s daughters attended hogwarts (Hufflepuff 1859-1866 and Ravenclaw 1868-1875), it is unusual, although not unheard of, for a chimera to lay seige to Buckingham Palace.

Alicia: Yes, we all remember the time George III fought off the Chimera of Camden with nothing but a cheese sandwich and a sword allegedly created by Merlin.

Angelina: Weasley now faces hundreds of charges, several of which relate to his other products.

Alicia: Jordan faces several charges, after hijacking a BBC radio 3 broadcast to report on the event. He claims he was trying to warm muggles of the danger, but his repeated use of the phrase ‘this is the f*****g funniest thing I’ve ever seen begs to differ.

Angelina: Any other news Ridgeback?

Alicia: Indeed Red-Hot. Molly Weasley, noted knitter, has been awarded an order of Merlin, 2nd class, for her role in keeping Harry Potter alive and well nourished, and thus indirectly saving the wizarding world. This is on top of the Order of Godric she recieved.

Angelina: The order of Godric dear listeners, is the new honour created by minister Shacklebolt for those Griffindors who fought you know who during either wizarding wars. Counterparts for each of the houses have also been released.

Alicia: A well deserved honour for Mrs Weasley. And finally, the WDSS, or Wizards of Differing Sexualites Society, which offers support for LGBTQ+ members of the wizarding world, has revealed that its founders, kept anonymous for many years, were none other than Albus Dumbledore and Sirius Black.

Angelina: I didn’t know Sirius Black was gay?

Alicia: He wasn’t, but according to the WDSS spokesperson, Sarah Cohen-Musa, Mr Black’s personal papers regarding the founding stated that he helped create the group ‘because his mother was an ardent homophobe and it would annoy her. Also everybody, regardless of gender, orientation, race or blood status should be treated equally. Except Severus Snape’. Albus Dumbledore wished to remain anonymous because he didn’t want the organisation to be damaged by association with him.

Angelina: Fasinating stuff Ridgeback. And now, we are joined by a very special guest, arguably the one of the greatest witches of the 20th Century, Rothesay.

Professor McGonnagal: Good evening girls, lovely to be here.

Angelina: Now Rothesay, you have worked at Hogwarts for many years, and served as deputy during the tenure of Albus Dumbledore. What is the most memorable event during your tenure?

McGonnagal: The Weasley swamp was probably one of most amusing and imaginative uses of magic I have ever seen. There was also the time I caught James Potter and Sirius Black attempting to smuggle a baby Swedish Shortsnout into the Slytherin common room as a ‘gift’ for Severus Snape. The dragon got loose, and spend 8 weeks living in the Astronomy Tower, where it acquired a fairly sizeable horde of trinkets, aided by Peeves, unsurprisingly.

Alicia: Whatever happened to the dragon?

McGonnagal: Despite the objections of Hagrid, who wished to keep it as a pet, the dragon, referred to by James as ‘Remus Lupin Jr’ was eventually rehoused with the help of Newt Scamander to its native Sweden. It later returned to Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament.

Angelina: Is that true?

McGonnagal: yes, all four dragons had previously been to Hogwarts, as it helped them acclimatise. The Welsh Green was also a James Potter prank.

Alicia: Amazing Rothesay. You have been a teacher at Hogwarts a long time. Who, if anyone, was your favourite student?

McGonnagal: Obviously I have no favourites, although I am somewhat partial to Gryffindor students. A personal bias.

Angelina: ok then Rothesay, how about most frustrating students?

McGonnagal: James Potter, Sirius Black, George Weasley, Fred Weasley, Lee Jordan, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Oliver Wood.

Angelina: You said that very quickly Rothesay.

McGonnagal: Ladies, you don’t understand the frustration of Oliver Wood camping outside your office in a Puddlemere United tent for 13 days due to quidditch being cancelled.

Alicia: That sounds very on brand.

Angelina: Finally Rothesay, what is your proudest moment as a teacher?

McGonnagal: The day Harry Potter returned to Hogwarts during the reign of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Followed closely by beating Slytherin in Quidditch.

What are your thoughts on the cursed child?

To be honest, I can’t say I know enough to really have any thoughts.

As is probably evident from my metas, @thecarnivorousmuffinmeta , for me to consider myself an expert enough to talk on anything at length I must see the source material.

Or, at the very least, be insanely familiar with it though even then I’d likely give a lot of disclaimers.

I’ve never seen Cursed Child, never read the script, and really know very little about it. As in, I only know the very general outlines of the plot but even that I’m hazy on as I’ve had no interest in finding out.

So, to me, hearing about Cursed Child is a lot like unintentionally playing a game in which I have to guess if the internet is pulling my leg or JKR actually wrote that.

In no short order:

Voldemort and Bellatrix have a canonical love child IN BOOK SIX WHEN BELLATRIX IS EMACIATED AND VOLDEMORT IS IN GOD KNOWS WHAT BODY WITH GOD KNOWS WHAT REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS who is somehow born between Bellatrix’s release and her untimely death at the hands of Molly Weasley. In secret, no less.

Said love child’s name is Delphi (alright, I can roll with that), she has blue hair (weirder but those Black genes yo), has inherited the power of ominous flying from dear departed daddy (... okay), and has latched onto the idea of resurrected Dear Departed Daddy despite growing up in the Post Voldemort era where no one, not even former Death Eaters like Draco, want that shit back (I have no idea how Delphi is presumably brought up so you tell me audience)

Harry turns out to be the world’s shittiest father (I believe that)

Hermione does Harry’s job for him (I also believe that)

Harry has a chronic fear of pigeons (... that’s new)

Albus Severus Potter is a disappointment to his father per being sorted into Slytherin (I believe that)

Albus is best friends with Scorpio Malfoy (sure, why not)

Albus and Scorpio somehow interfere with a Terminator style plot line in which Tom Riddle’s secret love child plans to destroy baby Harry Potter before he can and save the day (what?)

The trolley cart woman is an eldritch being from another dimension (and at this point, you know what, why the hell not? Sure JKR, let’s go there)

What I will say is that JKR fell into the classic trap: she thought she could casually use time travel as a plot device.

Time travel is never a casual plot device.

Once you introduce time travel into your universe, the whole place goes kablooey, because it will be used and it will be abused. Time travel isn’t Chekov’s Gun, it’s Chekov’s Motherfucking Cannon. And JKR did it in the worst manner.

The time turners are introduced when Hermione gets one so she can take more classes like a lunatic. This implies that time machines are fairly easy to get ahold of (or Hermione was an unwitting muggleborn guinea pig for the Department of Mysteries and McGonagall was too stupid to figure this out). Regardless, Hermione alone abuses these devices, and then responsibly turns it back in (a very good thing as god knows what Harry would do with access to that).

However, JKR now has a problem, she has time machines in her universe and she has the Death Eaters who would be very tempted to do something very very stupid.

She takes care of this by blowing up the Department of Mysteries and oh, would you look at that, someone destroyed all the time turners. Gee, too bad, we can never use those as a plot device again. MOVING ON.

So, for her to bring time travel back again, bring it back at a fundamentally more powerful level than Hermione ever had access too, it beggars the question of why Tom Riddle didn’t do this in the first place? Well, not him, Tom is too smart. Why didn’t Bellatrix do this in the first place?

I’m sure there’s some in-play bullshit reason of why Delphi Riddle and Delphi Riddle alone can pull this off. Maybe Jupiter is aligned with Mars and it’s the Age of Aquarius, or Delphi’s that stupidly powerful, or we found some ancient Atlantean treasure that somehow Delphi then stole. I’m sure there’s something, but the point is that you just can’t do that.

Once you introduce time travel, especially time travel on this sort of level, all bets are off.

Bellatrix is going back in time to save the Dark Lord, Harry’s going back in time to save his family, the Potter Household October 31st, 1981, would have a crowd outside it the size of Woodstock. 

Then of course the universe explodes as we know Tom Riddle entered that house alone.

Soon, giant mutant penguins are roaming the streets and eating buildings, no one knows how they got there, the timeline before they appeared has been erased from reality. When someone tries to get rid of the penguins they’re joined by giant mutant hamsters and no one still knows how they got there. Voldemort doesn’t even exist in this universe, he was written out five timelines ago.

Weasley Wednesdays

On this fine Weasley Wednesday I would love to shed some light on the friendship between Albus Severus Weasley-Potter and Rose Granger-Weasley. Best friends ever since they were children but grown apart when they got onto their first train to Hogwarts. 

I really wanted to share a fic that I have written about their friendship with all of you. It’s a bit of very shameful promotion but also me trying to find people to talk about Albus and Rose’s friendship with because they are two of my absolute favorite characters to read and write about. They are just such complex and interesting characters and there’s so much more to their friendship than Rose being “mean to Albus” and like we see in the play. The fic is called Begin Again. Rose Granger-Weasley and Albus Severus Potter used to be best friends while growing up. But ever since their years at Hogwarts started, things started to change. As did their friendship. Rose tried her best to live up to her family name, trying to live up to the expectation that had been set for her. Meanwhile Albus got caught up in time-travelling and his difficult relationship with his father. During those years they lost track of each other but this Christmas is all about the Weasley cousins getting together and, hopefully, about new beginnings.

Rose takes off her scarf and winter coat, wet from the snow falling down from the clear skies. Her nose and cheeks are red from the cold winter air as she hangs them from the end of her bed to dry. She had just returned from a winter walk with Lily, Roxanne and Molly. It had taken a lot of effort to get Roxanne to leave the warmth of the Slytherin common room. But eventually she gave in and joined them on their walk to ring in their Christmas morning. Christmas morning spent at Hogwarts.

Normally she’d be at home. Her mother would have called Hugo and her downstairs, greeting them with a wide smile and two mugs of hot chocolate and she would have kissed her mother's cheek and gratefully taken the warm mug from her. Closing her eyes as she inhaled the sweet scent of the chocolate.

But they knew Albus had been through a lot and Headmistress McGonagall had cancelled Christmas at home for him. None of the cousins knew what he had been through except for James, but knowing Albus had struggled was enough for the Weasley cousins to know he needed them right now. Even if he didn’t realise it himself or wouldn’t say that out loud. So it had been Rose’s idea for everyone to stay at Hogwarts, to stay and celebrate Christmas with Albus. Her cousins and little sibling had wholeheartedly agreed with the idea.  

It had been heartbreaking to see Albus become so estranged from the family, from them, from her . But she can’t blame him - she had given him no reason to keep confiding in her. Even though they used to be best friends since they were little. She hadn’t given him the friendship he deserves, the friendship he probably needed. She-

‘Rose, are you ready for breakfast?’ Lily’s head pokes into her dorm room. ‘Freddie and James are waiting for us in the common room.’

‘Yes!’ Rose answers her. ‘Let me just get something real quickly.’

Rose reaches into her trunk, her hands folding around a neatly packed package. She takes it out, very carefully, making sure not to shake it. The corners of her mouth slightly lift as she looks at the name tag, hoping with all her heart that it would bring the receiver a bit of Christmas joy. She smiles up at Lily Luna - who answers it with a broad smile of her own.

‘You shouldn’t have!’ her little cousin says jokingly which Rose answers by rolling her eyes.

‘Let’s go eat everything that our parents wouldn’t let us have for breakfast,’ Rose says before pressing a kiss to the crown of her Lily’s head.

Can you name three of your absolute favourite characters to write and why you love writing them so much? 🥰

Hello, thank you, and yes I absolutely can (narrowing it down to three might be hard though).

James Sirius Potter - my tiny boy, my beloved, my precious bean, my lil baby. He is such a delight to write, with his witty personality, almost a bit of a asshole sometimes, but has one of the biggest hearts ever known to the human population. He cares so fiercely about the people around him, but he likes a laugh, he likes pranks and he loves Quidditch. I just really liked developing his story and progressing his character, particularly with the relationship he has with his siblings. He's a joy, and I love him very much.

Molly Weasley Junior - she. she. she. my Slytherin Weasley, my girl. I just love writing her and her relationships with her cousins, particularly Albus and then also with Scorpius. It's slow going for her character, but I am slowly figuring her out and so far I have loved writing her. and because I love her, here is a little snippet from my wip (if only you would) take my hand:

“Why can’t I be an only child?” Molly jokes, looking at her dad.

“I’ll be an only child in a minute if you don’t shut up,” Lucy barked back, grabbing a scone and lobbing it across the table, missing Molly’s face by a few inches. She didn’t even flinch. 

Molly sniggered. “Ooh, I’m so scared,” she waved her hands in faux surrender, rolling her eyes.

Finally, Scorpius Malfoy and Albus Potter (I'm cheating by including them together, sorry not sorry) - these boys have taught me a lot. Not only are they the very characters that got me back into writing, I see myself in them both a lot and they make things a little easier when real life is difficult. They're beautiful, bright and incredible characters, they're sweet and honest and innocent, and there is nothing more pure than writing them, both together and separate.

My Unpopular Harry Potter Opinions

I don’t like Draco/Harry

I don’t like Remus/Tonks

But I love Teddy and that whole part of Deathly Hallows where Harry yells at Remus to go back to his kid

Idk it’s confusing

I don’t really like Hagrid

Scorpius/Rose is terrible (this one’s not that unpopular I don’t think)

I don’t like Ron/Hermione because they argued over everything in the books and annoyed each other a lot

I don’t like that everyone just married their high school sweethearts

I don’t like Dobby and was almost kind of happy when he died

I know I’m a terrible person

Dumbledore was a horrible person

I’m more okay with the “Severus” part of “Albus Severus” because everyone was always going to remember Dumbledore, and I think Harry only used Severus so that Snape’s contribution would be recognized

And if Snape lived Harry would not have named his child after Snape

Avada Kedavra is dumb and boring

I think Ron should have died instead of Fred

I will forever be upset that Harry didn’t tell Voldemort that Regulus Black betrayed him

Harry should have been the DADA teacher after being an Auror for just a few years to round up the remaining Death Eaters

I really want a story or something when Harry and co’s kids get told about the war in detail, whether in be from their parents or in a school history lesson

I don’t think Neville/Luna should have been a thing. They’re great friends but Luna is too free-spirited to ever be the kind of wife I imagine Neville wanting.

Why did everyone get married and have kids? There are plenty of people in the real world who don’t want that and it would have been cool for someone besides Charlie Weasley to represent that.

Percy is not a bad person!!!

Sirius Black was totally and completely suave, dapper, smooth, gentlemanly, etc. but also respected everyone (girls, trans, lgbt+, etc) and their boundaries and always made sure people were comfortable. (again, not sure how unpopular this is, but I haven’t seen much on it so...)

The Golden Trio should have remained 100% platonic

Oliver Wood is really freaking fantastic

McGonagall was basically everyone’s mother

James Potter was a selfless amazing man

this is becoming more like just my opinions oh well

Scorpius/Albus is perfect

Harry Potter would have been a great dad

I don’t like the fanfics/headcanons that portray everyone as gay (or in a gay relationship or trans) because that’s not how real life works but it doesn’t really bother me as much as a lot of other things.

Seamus/Dean is great

I would rather have Fred die than Remus Lupin

I’M SORRY OKAY

Draco and Astoria are so cute together and they’re great parents and probably both total dorks and I love it

Sirius/Remus definitely happened and is great

I used to basically idolize Hermione but now I find her annoying and overly-emotional

The movies messed up Ron and Hermione

If Fred had to die I wish he died for someone. You know, like shielding Percy from an explosion but dying in the process. Something like that would have been perfect and shown the depth that a lot of people don’t think about

Everyone should definitely read the books because they’re so much better

Somewhere deep inside, Bellatrix cared for her disowned family. She didn’t try to kill Sirius, she tried to stupefy him. It didn’t seem to effect her much after the fact, but it still makes me wonder because she’s normally so ruthless. She didn’t even hurt him.

Lupin is so extra and fabulous and I love him

After the war, the trio definitely worked hard to make life better for werewolves

Madam Pomfrey is a bamf

I hate it when people blame the Horcrux for Ron leaving in Deathly Hallows. Because Hermione and Harry could control themselves, and Harry was a literal Horcrux himself, so putting the locket on was like double and he was still relatively fine (aside from being grumpy)

I really want to know how menstruation works at Hogwarts

McGonagall never let people see her cry so she shut herself off after the Battle of Hogwarts. 

Maybe when McGonagall is crying alone in her office one day recently after the battle, Harry comes in and they talk about a lot because she was always basically his mother and she loves her students as if they were her children

Harry is a sweetheart but also so fucking sassy and I love it more than anything

The books are so funny tho

It sort of seems like Harry/Ginny make better friends, but idk I could go either way they’re not horrible

Slytherin isn’t that bad

Harry & co. definitely had PTSD and lots of trauma and I want to know more about their processes and dealing with it

Sirius/Remus is the best damn power couple ever

Draco deserved a redemption arc

There should’ve been more focus on other houses besides Gryffindor

Half-Blood Prince is one of the best in the beginning and end, but the middle is boring and unnecessary

Ravenclaw is the best house

Prisoner of Azkaban is also one of the best (movie and book)

Deathly Hallows is the best book, but neither movie is that good

Harry is actually clever/smart/intelligent and people always say he’s not but he really is, especially in bad situations. 

Hermione may be smart, but in urgent situations, she’s too emotional and can’t think which isn’t good

Harry is great at quick-thinking and problem-solving

Hermione was a control-freak and also sort of abusive/manipulative

Voldemort’s ego made him not as scary

Fleur was a bamf

Molly Weasley is a questionable mother and close-minded

There are a lot of plotholes

Percy was so complex and didn’t deserve the hate

ALL CHARACTERS MAKE MISTAKES

The movies aren’t that bad, but people compare them too much to the books

The houses aren’t that great of an idea with the different traits, and the fanbase obsesses over the houses way too much

Lily/James is such a powerful and healthy relationship and I love it

I love the platonic affection shown without romantic intentions I might add to this
