Moments in the Hunger Games that Dr. Gaul would hate

Dr. Gaul says that humans are naturally violent, and to prove her wrong, here are moments in the Hunger Games that show that they aren't.

-Lucy Gray comforting Jessup when he wasn't feeling well

-Lucy Gray crying and mourning when Dill died (Wovey in the book)

-Lucy Gray making sure Jessup ate despite her having the advantage if he didn't eat

-The first thing Lucy Gray doing in the arena was look for Jessup and run away with him so they could both have a chance at surviving, despite all the murder and chaos happening around them

-Lucy Gray comforting Jessup as he was dying

-Lucy Gray in general

-Jessup protecting Lucy Gray from the bats (rabid raccoons in the book)

Even when he jumped at his Mentor, he was looking at Dill before to see how she was doing. Dill's death is what made him want to honor the other tributes deaths. I can only imagine how that made their friends and families feel at home, to see the person they loved getting the respect they could in such violent games

-During the bombing, Marcus ran back to go get Lucy Gray despite thst fact that his chances of dying there were very high

-Ik he wasn't part of the games, but Sejanus going to spread bread around Marcus's dead body (I love Sejanus sm and I better not see y'all thirst over Snow anymore)

-In the book, there was no bloodbath scene. Most tributes ran straight for the tunnels, while Coral, Tanner, and Reaper went to get weapons, but even Coral, who was known for being violent, ran. Only Reaper stayed

-Reaper apologizing for having to kill the tributes the night before, and promising to honor them

-In the book, Teslee was running from the snakes and Lucy Gray came out of the tunnels singing so the snakes would be distracted so Teslee would have time to escape

-Screaming and crying and throwing up because Reaper killed Teslee but brought her body over to the other bodies because it's really all he could give her

-In the book, Lucy Gray and Reaper were the last ones left, and they procrastinated on killing each other. Lucy Gray killed him by getting him to drink poisoned water, not by any violence. She even closed his eyes when she realized he had died.

This was just the 10th Hunger Games. Damn. Imma go on to the other ones now

-Instead of of breaking their alliance by killing each other, Maysilee just left Haymitch saying that she didn't want it to come down to the two of them

Something I'll never forget is in the lakes how the reader's reaction to Conway getting chosen is immediately how it can work in her favour. I have so much to say about it and the contrast between hers,finnicks and Conway reaction to the reaping and it just crushes my soul. Conway would be so heartbroken to hear her name but when she hears his it's how she got lucky with Conway being her tribute partner :((

i literally love writing characters with moral complexities sm, like I love that they aren't just perfect, they're destructive, and hurt, and so much

reader, especially young reader, has spent her life feeling like she isn't enough, wanting for things and playing her cards to get them, to build connections, to live a more exciting life, not one that's monotone. she loves living in the moment and tries to protect herself. so when she's called and then it's Conway, she knows her way out of this. she knows who she'll have to charm to get what she wants except this time it's to survive. and it does work in her favor, this is something she can work with more then a blank slate. Her inner monologue with the ‘I don't need your pity, I pity you for what I'm about to do.’ in midnight rain. Young reader is a survivor and she hates herself for it, but wants it so desperately. like she talks about hating herself and what she's doing so much, but she doesn't stop, she still goes through with it

and if conway's name hadn't been called he would've spent every day taking care of your family and honestly I think he was so in love that he wouldn't have known what to do with himself. but when he is called, he's so heartbroken, but he's glad to be with you because he'd rather die with you then alone. it breaks him to be in this situation but he just wants to be with you.

And then Finnick who's thoughts are all about how you can win, how he's breaking for you, how he should've kept being with you if this was going to happen, had all your time instead of Conway having it. nobody in this situation thinks about Conway as a person who can win, as himself, he loses all autonomy in their eyes and his own for so long.

please I love all the thoughts sm bc I could explore the complexities forever

We went out John and I,he pooped outside...Usually, I always pick it up but awhile ago, I wasn't able to pick it up coz I was calming John coz he was always excited to go out and at the very beginning he will always do "zoomies". A crazy exciting behaviour of dogs ( zoomies ). Then, a car smashed the poops that supposed to be I will pick it up...Next time after he poops, right away I need to pick-up his poops... Having watched a good amount of SBS's Gayo Daejeon, I felt compelled to share my thoughts. Disclaimer: I didn't watch every performance, especially from groups I don't know or that didn't show up on my feed, and I got very tired of watching the show anyway, it was so long. I also didn't find the camera work that awful. To me it didn't look worse than usual, but maybe that's because I didn't watch the entire show?

Aespa: As always, they didn't sing live, so their performance was a bit dry. The dance intro was fine, but the Mirotic cover was bad. Their vocals were too soft and the song completely lost its charm. I'm sure they only covered it because they're an SM group and it was part of TVXQ!'s tribute, but the song did not suit their vocals at all.

Itzy: Good performance, nothing special for them. I feel bad for Lia, but the group performs better without her. She has the prettiest and best vocals, but Yuna and Chaeryeong are covering her parts well and the group just looks more cohesive and complete on stage with only 4 members more or less on the same level dance-wise.

Enhypen: I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion, but they have better vocals and dancing than TXT. I've thought this for a while - not to compare them. I liked the dance break, but sadly they didn't sing live. It was still a good performance.

Le Sserafim: I'm very bored by LSF's performances. There was some live singing, but not enough, the dance breaks/intros weren't great, and nothing stood out to me. All their performances feel the same now, so I'm not really impressed anymore. LSF aren't really improving either, especially not in live vocals, so it's like I've seen everything they have to show. Also, not to be petty, but Chaewon looks terrible with long hair...

IVE: Good remixes, some live singing, but the girls are just such bad performers. Their moves have no power and look so clumsy, and the amount of hair twirling Wonyoung in particular does is excessive. They also don't look good together as a group. Their bodies types are too different, which combined with their lackluster dancing, makes them not so visually pleasing.

TXT: They sang live some, their dance break with the hands was one of their best - it was genuinely really good - but the Christmas remix of Chasing That Feeling of all songs was a bit of a miss. It was a good performance. TXT are just never that compelling to me on stage. Beomgyu did well. I notice he's been getting a lot more center time.

Yeonjun: I've seen nothing but praise for his 3D performance, but he would've fit Seven so much better. His vocals didn't suit 3D in the slightest and I doubt the song would've done was well if he sang it - never mind the fact that Jungkook is 1000 times more famous. 3D has powerful and charismatic vocals and Yeonjun's vocals were weak and thin. I don't particularly like his vocal tone, but it was terrible in this performance. The dancing wasn't charismatic either imo. It was a poor song selection. LC would've fit him better - though he would've struggled singing it a bit, his vocals and his dance are more like Jimin than Jungkook - and out of all of Jungkook's recent songs, Seven's probably the best fit for Yeonjun, maybe Closer To You as well.

Yuna: I wonder if it's because I'm not a Jennie fan, but I thought she did well. The song is very meh, and the performance was only good for a cover, but she did well. I like her rapping better than Jennie's, maybe because it was softer and also because of the vocal effects.

(G)I-dle: Their outfits in the Queencard performance gave Mean Girls in the best way possible and I've never heard their vocals so clearly. I really liked their performance - simple, but well executed.

NCT 127: They killed it, smashed it, knock it out of the park, I was blown away. I did not know they could perform like that. Their vocals were amazing, their energy was amazing, they performed Kick It which is such a hype song, I loved it, best performance of the night. Why don't they just sing live all the time if they sound like that!? I didn't watch their performance of their new song though, or any of the other NCT units.

Shinee: Sherlock is a pretty fun performance and Hard was good too, but their live vocals were missing for me. For such an old and iconic group, they should do better in that regard.

Stray Kids: This is the performance in which the bad camerawork was most noticeable to me. The audio leak issue was also weird but not quite as bad as Redditors made it sound. They really need better choreos and outfits. As always, I liked their energy and they sang live, but I don't like the songs, only LALALALA, so their stage wasn't really for me. But they always deliver.

Might as well do the older videos of NAQ. This is apparently very early opening cutscenes for the game. It was never used in the final game, but it is unlocked as an extra bonus thing.

Something I noticed is that they seem shorter, height wise. Maybe it's because I've watched newer stuff like the PC trailer where they're tall. It makes them look like kids or teens in these cutscenes. Both appear to be rookies in this early rendition of the opening cutscenes. (Although Nebula is still taller than Quasar in this video.)

Anyway, into the video contents.

Nebula appears to be training and Quasar spoils her fun. I love their sibling dynamic here, they bicker and stand up for each other like true siblings.

This white room aesthetic shows up here, like the tribute video but seems a bit darker. I'm not sure what planet they're on, but very much looks like Mars. Did the developers originally want the pair live on Mars?

Quasar's got balls to basically yell and point his gun at his boss of all people. I'm surprised he didn't get fired for that. But yeah, that scene still lives in my head rent free.

Plot's a little different, my theory (for this earlier storyline) is that they would have to collect "magmanite" while collecting batteries to keep the replacement sun alive for a while until this substance is collected. Not sure how Zeno would play a role. Maybe to stop them from collecting it?

Quasar having these crazy expressions is so funny to me. He just built different, I swear lol (Probably why I love him sm)

Wanted to mention Stonecold for a bit. Possible favoritism with Nebula? This last scene is kinda reinforcing my headcanons for Quasar.

Also am I the only one who prefers the name, "Starlord" instead of "Starstraw"? It sounds cooler

Sorry for dropping something non-F1 related in your inbox but you are one of the first people I have ever seen acknowledge that in the harsh light of hindsight, baby Ryan and especially Shane do come across as a bit thoughtlessly dickish and insensitive in their older videos.. And how lovely it has been to see them mature into genuinely thoughtful, sensitive people who clearly value each other and what they’re doing all without needing to call attention to it. Your tags are just a nice little tribute to underrated growth <3

idk what went on at Buzzfeed but the men who've come out of it - Ryan and Shane, Steven and Andrew, the Try Guys - have all emerged as very thoughtful versions of themselves. they're goofy idiots, also but I think it's interesting proof that cishet men, in particular, benefit massively from diversity. once they're allowed outside their regimented boxes they don't freak out, they grow.

Ryan and Shane are particularly sharp because Ryan's easy to point to as a no-homo jock but he was also the one least able to hide his emotions. whether that was excitement that he got to tell people about something or pretty deep empathy for the victims and circumstances of cases, which he often seemed quite distressed about even in the early BFU episodes, to the fear that he barely gets a grip on. he didn't have to get taught vulnerability and there's probably all kinds of things from being (relatively speaking) short and a PoC and coming from two different, non-white cultural backgrounds and working on all those muscles cus he seems like he was probably a bully magnet but when he wasn't scared the frat guy mask did used to slip down pretty fast.

Shane was a much worse, IMO, kinda dick in that he had a real or acted superiority complex in that nerdish self-defensive way where he had to be The Smartest Guy In The Room. he often went way over dismissive into outright rude and was insensitive about real-life cases. I don't mean the thing where he laughed at the woman in the Bellaire house saying her dog had been thrown - tbh, I can well imagine having some weird laughter response that was half-awkwardness and half-panicky there myself, confronted with a serious conversation about something that I don't believe happened and in such weird circumstances. I mean he used to be a bit snipe-y and often excessively cynical in a quite invasive way about the true crime cases and the same in searching for a slam-debunk on supernatural. the kind of guy your friend brings to the pub as their new boyfriend and he spends all night telling you everything you enjoy is wrong and stupid.

both of them obviously always had redeeming features and the flashes of them being dicks were small enough it wasn't actually off-putting. there were a few BFU moments where they'd either get snobby about crime-heavy neighbourhoods or have some weird cop-loving moment that gave me the heebs but also: standard 2016.

every time they got called out for shit, they seem to have learned from it. every time they were pushed to consider other people, they did. it turned out even though both of them had massive on-paper dickhead potential, they only needed the tiniest push to tear through that paper and find something much more interested in not just the world and people around them but who they are and what they really like/want to be.

a really interesting thing, I think, is the contrast between Ruining History and Puppet History. in Ruining History (which I really enjoy, I wanna emphasise) Shane is the smartest guy in the room. in Puppet History, he's at best the weirdest. using the Professor as a weird little blue ballsack avatar means Shane doesn't exactly disappear but gets more space to do his strange little bits as a production he creates, not something about him. it obviously has weird roots in the horrors of the Hotdaga and the determination to keep doing a bit whether anyone likes it or not comes from that standoffish superiority but in Puppet History it becomes a sandbox to play in, not an emotional straitjacket.

something I think about a lot is in the nearly-70th episode they have that bit where Shane fucking books it out of the body chute in Waverley. properly terrified, running up the stairs because of a frog or something and Ryan chose not to put that in the episode because he knew Shane being unflappable and immune to fear was a more interesting contrast to his own terror. idk I have a lot of Ryan And Shane And Masculinity And The Contrast Between Nerds (Stupid And Jocks (Also Stupid) And How To Exist In The Venn Spaces Overlapping In Between that are mostly about some complex relationship to my own identity.

Saeyoung could feel his pulse quicken as he made it his mission to kiss you that night, and agent 707 doesn't fail ;)

He pulls you close to him like he does everynight, but this time he turns you around to face him

The room is already dark, aside from a bit of light leaking in from the hallway

He traces your face all the way down to your lips and you can feel your own heart start to race in excitement

And then it happens-- he smashes his lips onto yours, the kiss is needy and long-awaited, but still innocent
