hello, tumblr! welcome to my version of a rottmnt separated AU ✨ "life mission: save my brothers" ✨ where splinter managed to rescue only leo after the turtles have been mutated. raph was taken to big mama and was raised to become a battle nexus champion, mikey was taken by draxum and was trained to be a warrior to protect yokai and fight against humans, and donnie was thought to be dead but was actually taken by a tech mob and ran away when he was 7 only to meet big mama, who used his talent with tech to her advantage.

there will be a comic about this . 3 . it’s quite long help-

btw, donnie doesn’t know that other turtle mutants exist. big mama gave him goggles that prevented him to see them and was told to cover up his turtle-yness which is how he got to meet raph sometimes before they found out they were brothers. leo rescues them over the course of the story: first raph, then mikey, then donnie (after they found out he’s still alive).

I cant stop thinking about skull from the forest god au…. Like, I just.

So, I live in a marshland, my town was literally built right on top of a marsh, right next to a large river. So this one hits slightly differently, cuz I love the marsh. I remember planting trees in the mud, getting rid of invasive species, and hopping from log to mud clump to stump with my friends and afterwards, every single time, we’d chat and enjoy some cookies when we were finished. It was so much fun and all I can imagine is doing that in Skulls bog. Walking around, having fun, laughing, singing at the top of my lungs, looking at the plants and trying to figure out the species, drawing them in a small notebook. Who knows, I might even bring some food to share, some fruit, maybe some cookies.

All I can imagine is just, Skull finds this little tiny human, that despite the fog, despite the horror stories, the black water, the obvious death that hangs in the air… they love the bog.

They love his bog.

Like... you don't understand why everyone else dislikes the bog so much. When you go in, you see all kinds of lovely things. Sunlight occasionally peeks through gaps in the fog and makes the water twinkle, illuminating it just enough for you to spot freckled tadpoles darting in and out of cover. Dragonflies perch on the saturated ground, seemingly always posing just long enough for you to draw them. Damselflies skip over your head like fairies. Frogs watch you from the muskeg, water beading on their dimpled skin, you love to just sit and listen to their choruses of croaks when the sun rises. If you stay still enough long-legged birds wade across the weeds and pick out bugs and wriggling fish with their curled beaks, ignoring you as if you were simply part of the landscape. Butterflies, seemingly eager for anything dry, often land on you with their wings wide open. Newts roam right by your feet. Occasionally you hear something big moving in the distance... a deer, maybe?

The Black Bogs are wonderful.

...

Except... if you travel through the bog with other people, though, you might start to take notice of how little wildlife you see. No birds, no frogs, no newts. Not even a dragonfly. You might notice that your friends are constantly swatting away aggressive flies, complaining about bites- you have yet to be stung by anything. You might realise the bog is so much quieter, so much darker, when you're with other people.

No sun. No sound. It's almost like... the bog is hostile to them. It's almost like it prefers when you're alone.

It's almost like the bog only wants you.

ANYWAYS! Info dump!

Mikey, of course, was found by the foot. (I think just a standard foot ninja that brought him to the shredder like "i found this weird turtle dog thing? it looked useful, maybe so i brought it back with us.") Shredder doesn't think much about about it, not realizing Mikey's a child/sentient, and just sends him to get trained with the attack dogs or whatever weird creatures he wants to keep on a leash.

A 12 yo Karai, however, gets attached and very quickly learns he can speak. He tries to tell her his name, but he's a tiny tot who mispronounces things still, and upon him trying to say "Mikey", Karai hears "Michi". Thus starts calling him Michi, which is close enough for him to respond to.

Karai convinces the Shredder to let her take care of Michi, which he agrees to b/c sure let the child have a pet to train. A month or so later, he catches her training Michi in ninjutsu, and to his surprise, Michi is doing well? At which point he decides, that Michi is still Karai's responsibility, but that he would train him in ninjutsu like he does Karai.

So Michi learns directly from the Shredder alongside Karai. He still has a prankster streak but Karai keeps him out of trouble for the most part. (she doesn't really keep him from doing the thing all the time, she usually is able to blame it on someone else tho. She's protective of him b/c that's her little brother that she's basically raising.)

They were in Japan for most of that time, but when the Shredder moved to New York, he left Karai in charge of the Japan branch and took Michi (age 12) with him.

Michi loves exploring NYC and does so any chance he knows he can get away with it. This is how he meets Splinter again.

He likes Splinter, automatically trusts him and it helps the rat has some really cool stories to tell.

He spends a year meeting up with Splinter, listening to his stories, relearning about his family and what not. (splinter keeps asking him to leave the shredder but it takes a while for Michi to understand why.)

In the end, there's a big incident that all but makes Michi leave. He questioned one of the shredder's decisions or something like that (having gotten far too used to asking questions with Splinter) and without Karai to essentially shield him from the results, he gets into Trouble™. he was going to be punished for it, but Michi escapes before he can find out exactly what (not without injury though. Shredder himself causes the scars on his shell and chin as he leaves.)

He goes to Splinter, scared and confused, and Splinter patches him up. He goes to meet Leo while he's healing, and Splinter tries to convince Michi to stay with them there, but Michi would rather stay with Splinter.

After leaving the Shredder, Michi slowly adjusts to life outside the foot. He starts wearing weird clothes b/c it's fun, discovers comics and video games, just essentially discovering what it's like to be a teenager. by the time he meets Donny again, (age 15) he is very much a cringy teen (positive) and is enjoying it. He can still kick ass tho, and is stelthy as shit, even in bright orange, but yeah. he's also readopted the nickname Mikey by then. He responds to either, really, but his family mostly just uses Mikey while Karai uses Michi.

Because Din is just so damn ship-able (which makes him an even more fitting player character tbh), and because he'd definitely need to help Cobb get rid of the krayt dragon (Lernie) at the end of the hellscape that's level 2 to even be able to meet Boba (and immediately speedrun charming him to the max by handing over the armour) for the first time. Also because they'd grant some real badass duo boons, I imagine ;D
