I'm feeling more than fine about 17, really truly. I don't think anyone should be worried at all.

I think sometimes my interactions with Glenn come off a little more serious or abrasive than they really happened in real life (because we have to shout due to how loud it is in the bars), and my immediate transcription is just to get people *information*, which really doesn't convey tone.

For example, reporting that Glenn said "you don't want to know" in response to me asking for any teasers (as to plots this season) was met with a lot of "oh so this season is gonna suck" on Twitter, and that could not be further than the truth (sorry to the people I split-react blocked for saying that lol). In hindsight I get the reaction, because written out it's a response that can be easily misinterpreted and reads as potentially concerning, but know that when Glenn said "you don't want to know" he looked like this:

And when I was genuinely just asking for script information (regarding writers of individual scripts after he mentioned they had broken already) and mentioned Nina (Inflates) and Ross (DTAMHD), he gushed about both of them and then said, transcribed word for word, "It's been a good room, I'll say this it's been a great room. It's been an all-star room, it's been...like, breaking the stories this year has been really fun. [Me: Yeah?] Yeah. [That's great, that is great to hear.] It's been really fun."

So the idea of "no Glenn in the writers room" is really much more akin to Season 16 than 13/14. He was there to break stories (meaning he was in the room when they were brainstorming plot ideas and when they settled on which plots would be turned into scripts) but Rob and Charlie are taking the brunt of writing their (RCG's) scripts because of Sirens. This is the same thing that happened with The Gang Goes Bowling. Glenn's name is on the script, but Rob and Charlie wrote the majority of it while Glenn was shooting Blackberry. (I remember originally being convinced it was a mistake Glenn was listed as a writer for Bowling, lmfao). And Glenn is definitely still contributing, will be on revisions for the non-RCG scripts, and will classically change or improv whatever he thinks is best for Dennis when he's on set (see: the Risk E. Rats script).

Also, I know the crossover is concerning to a lot of people just given the nature of it, but as of what we know right now it's only on Abbott, so it's really just as if this season's The Gang Cracks the Liberty Bell or The Janitor Always Mops Twice took place on a different show instead of ours...

I promise promise promise Glenn was clearly holding his tongue for good things coming up, and Friday night very much restored my confidence that Season 17 will be good. (But..if you don't think Glenn has good contributions to Sunny or understands the agenda, then sorry this response probably sucks lmfao)

Only needing rest by this point, you close your eyes. Wanting nothing more than to leave this place behind.

"WHOA, DIDN'T EXPECT TO SEE YOU SO EARLY!" A voice suddenly spoke, booming loudly for you to hear.

this is definitely up to interpretation. a lot of reader-insert writers seem to view him at a surface level. they prefer him when he's more of an aloof, goofy hero with mischevious tendencies. reader's bestie who then becomes their playful, caring boyfriend. and that's totally fine, if that's your preference !!

me personally? i like to dig a little deeper.

i genuinely think commitment would freak him out.

i mean, think about it.

peter grew up a mutant. he probably has a lot of trust issues. his power separates him from other people. it makes him especially impatient. he perceives everything differently. nothing is a threat to him. he lives in his mom's basement. he plays ping pong with himself. he's all over the place all the time. he's nosy. he isn't patient enough to let you finish talking. and he might be so blunt, he risks hurting your feelings because he doesn't think about what he says before he says it.

he's the human embodiment of adhd. it's safe to assume he prefers immediate gratification over something that takes time. like a long-term relationship.

most importantly, he grew up without a dad. which can have a huge impact on a guy growing up !! his father left his mom before he was even born. which means the idea of fleeing a serious relationship might be somewhat normalized to him. subconsciously, anyway.

at most, i think he and reader would be super close buds. and if they were patient enough with him, even after everything - then he might develop feelings. he just wouldn't know what the hell to do with himself. if reader wanted a serious relationship...yeah, he'd probably bail. he might wonder why you'd wanna ruin a good thing with something so serious. when in reality, he's just too scared and self conscious.

Is it enough to add '-ia' to the name of the place to make it become meliorian? Did Papa come to us from a reality where the name of all cities and countries end with -ia?

Terzo did a bit where he asks the audience to say "MELIORA", and he seems to get really annoyed when people say it wrong.

Maybe it was the stress of worrying about maria and creating project Shadow that made Gerald lose weight.

He prolly lived off only coffee for weeks.

Yeah I mean that makes sense. But I just liked to imagine Gerald only looked as skinny as he did in the SA2 video because he'd been imprisoned, was eating less due to not being fed well, going insane, getting sick and frail as a result etc though

You know, after they had him looking way fatter and healthier in Shadow 2005 and all the times we see him in it (creating Shadow with Black Doom, recording the video warning Shadow of Black Doom and the Black Comet) obviously taking place before that

And he is significantly fatter and less uncanny proportionately in the journal artwork and looking much more like in Shadow 2005, which I vastly prefer. I mean I know it was a stressful time up on the ARK but damn boy what happened for you to lose all that weight pre ARK raid?

Also he was clearly fat when creating Shadow with Black Doom in the 2005 cutscene and in the redraw in the journal commercial today. So the scene of him with Maria saying "welcome to the world" to Shadow in the story trailer can't be from around that time because if it was where did all that weight go tf lol

I felt him being fat in Shadow 2005 but so skinny in SA2 was a good way to depict just how badly he was impacted after everything fully went to shit and Maria's death. But ah well, I guess by my logic, this way it could show that things were always troubled for him with the pressure and urgency and devotion to help Maria before all that

And with him working all the time, even if he'd go a long time without eating, he wouldn't he probably moving much away from his work due to his dedication, he could always end up eating very late and too soon before finally sleeping, too much when he finally does, stress eating, etc

I mean the ARK is huge and mostly walkable but I can't imagine he was moving around it as much as he was sitting in one place for a long amounts of time to work. There's just as much logic for him to be fat until near the end of his life when he gets sick. That's what was in my head as the reason for the difference in Shadow 2005 and SA2 for years

I think about things like this a lot and you already know my motives so lol. I'm very passionate about it. Well I wouldn't have let this happen to him, I would've made sure my man was always eating well the whole time so he looks as beautiful and healthy as he did in Shadow 2005 and the journal art :P 💜

okay so firstly, I do have to say, it is your blog, you can do whatever you want, blah blah blah moving on

Secondly, I'd like to point out that professional writers usually take breaks between books as well. in my opinion, the first "book" of CRCB either ended after omega was rescued or will end after this next chapter depending on how long the story ends up being (I'm basing this totally off vibes btw pls don't take me seriously I beg)

that being said, you're doing this for free. FREE. if professional writers (who are paid to write) can take breaks, so the FUCK can you. the story you're creating is amazing and incredible, and while I (and probably everyone else who reads it) appreciates the regular updates, we also understand that you're a human, not a living typewriter.

take a break. please, God, take a break. focus on kyletober, or other fics, or even just go on a full writing hiatus if you need. but please, take care of yourself first. we can wait. we'll be fine. there's other authors and fics in the meantime.

That is true, even professional writers take breaks (I mean GRRM has taken like what more than ten years for the next ISOIAF book? Looking at you George...)

I do think this is a place where it would split into the next fic, if I was going to do things that way. There's still quite a bit to get through, even though we've kind of already had the big climax for at least that bit. So yeah, you're right that this would be the end of the first book so to speak lol.

And yeah, that's a good thing to remember. I do this mostly for free (not counting Patreon). It's a hobby and I do have a life outside of this hobby that I have to attend to that matters more than the fic and the blog and everything. I have a job because I have to have money to survive and I have appointments and friends and other things I like to do. While I've been blessed for a good chunk of the year to be able to focus a lot of time on this blog and this fic, it's just not possible anymore. At least for the time being. Come January and the end of the holiday season and as my job kind of winds down, then yeah. I'll probably be able to focus more energy on the fic and the blog again, but for now, I have to take a break.

It's not even just real life that's getting in the way, I'm burning out on the fic too. I've put out over 300k words in about eight months with weekly updates. That's a lot. That's on average almost 10k words a week counting this next chapter. It's hard to write 10k words in a single week. Chapters are starting to get hard to write and I'm finding myself excited that I'm taking a break and won't have to worry about writing the next chapter, so yeah. It's time for a little break from CRCB to let my mind focus somewhere else (I'm so hyped for Kyletober y'all have no idea) and refill those creative juices towards CRCB.

But thank you for being so understanding. Really. It's so reassuring to see everyone being so supportive. And it's not like i'm not going to be writing during this time, I'm just focusing my energy elsewhere for a bit to give myself a much needed break. 💚

So question(s) for my HDG girlies: does being a floret necessarily mean existing on a spectrum between stoner and house pet? While that's *absolutely* appealing to me I've been tinkering around with some story ideas and everything I've read tends in that direction yet I'm not sure if that's just narrative sampling bias or something.

If they're really dedicated to making sure each sophont before their best self, and a lot of bodymod tech is locked behind the implant, what do they do with a very enthusiastic transhumanist volunteer who wants to become *more* aware, not less? Or one who's already an Orion's Arm style post singularity intelligence and doesn't really wanna go back?

Also, what about hive minds? Like proper tyranid style overminds, who gets to be their owner? What does domesticating them even look like, what does "living your best life" look like for a ravenous swarm of biopuppets? What about sophont polities that are just as assimilate-y as the Affini themselves? Strog/Phyrexian/Infested type deal.

there are games that i enjoy playing more and there are games i enjoy thinking about more. sometimes the overall story and themes and blorbos are delightful but actually playing it is a little annoying so i just rotate it in my mind instead. sometimes i get absolutely sucked into the gameplay and the world and the experience for dozens or hundreds of hours and i enjoy listening to the soundtrack but it has little to no lasting impact on me as a person bc something in the story just failed to hit and that’s ok. both are good both are beloved. obviously the ideal piece of media is one i both enjoy actively consuming and thinking about but my mindset is that if a piece of media has any single good thing in it it’s a good piece of media. give me literally anything to work with and i’ll extract joy out of it. i’ve literally never played a game i didn’t like btw
