The Owls House Fandom: you need to calm the fuck down

-first off I’m a multi-shipper.

- I interact with the Canon and Fanon differently. Canon for me is what is shown on screen. Somethings what the creators say can also be canon if it’s supposed by the show( Amity hair is dyed green due to her mom being super controlling and caring about the family image is canon to me because we just got an episode of Amity’s mom being super controlling and caring about he family image.) Fanon to me is how the fans view/interpret the show.(all headcanons) sometimes canon and fanon are on the same page and other times they don’t even come close to being on the same page . Sometimes fanon is on a different book entirely(AUs)

-I put Canon before Fanon.

-I say all this first so you(fellow fans) can see where I’m coming from.

- I ship Luz x Amity and Luz x Hunter. (And whole lot of other ships in TOH)

-To me Luz and Amity are canon endgame. We have had multiple episodes of them explicitly interacting romantically. (A shit ton of blushing, the cheek kiss, “My Luz”, implied future date). I’m more invested in canon WlW couple in animation.

- For me Luz and Hunter are fun to ship in fanon because their dynamic is interesting. I don’t need a ship to be canon to ship them.

- As it currently stands, Luz and Hunter are not canonically siblings at the end of Hunting Palismans. They have siblings like dynamic/vibes. They aren’t even friends(Luz said they aren’t at this point due to Hunter’s “betrayal”).

- I have younger siblings and honorary family. So I do have first hand experience on siblings dynamics, relationships and none blood related family. You can have a sibling dynamic with friends. The difference to me is how your raised/socialize. Siblings are people you grow up with, have the same caregiver/parents, can’t cut out of your life the same way you can with friends, see your none public persona regularly . It multiple factors that make up the concept of “siblings”. Some factors like blood relations to at lest one parent aren’t even required. You can put a sibling dynamic on top of another relationship/dynamic. Act like a certain dynamic doesn’t mean you are that dynamic unless both parties and sometimes society see it like that.

-example: friends can act like siblings. Coworkers can act like siblings, family friends can act like siblings. House mates can act like siblings, acquaintances can act like siblings, social peers can act like siblings

-Luz and Hunter are social peers to each other. In the same age range(Luz said that Hunter looks like someone who could go to Hexside)

All this to say : Luz x Hunter ISNT INCEST!!!

-a sibling dynamic doesn’t equal incest. Incest is sexual intercourse/relation between two class of people too closely related to be married. As in blood relations or social relations.(I add social relations due to adoption)

-Luz x Hunter don’t even fit that!!!

- an example of incest ship would be shipping the Blight siblings or Eda and Lilith (please don’t do that or at least tage it properly so I can block it(

- I just want to ship them for funnies. Shipping is supposed to be fun. You can still support Luz x Amity be canon and still have other ships

- if Hunter was to get adopted by Eda then I’m down for shipping them purely platonically/familiarly. Again Canon tops Fanon for me.

-I actually do like their siblings dynamic. All the content for it is a lot of fun. I just don’t like that the fandom acts like you can only treat them as siblings. I don’t like a bunch of random strangers on the internet telling how I should interact with a show I like.

- it’s ok to not like the ship for other reasons( not interested in them as romantic ship, the age gap makes you uncomfortable, the power imbalance makes you uncomfortable, you see it as a POC being ship with a cop like character, you just didn’t like Hunter. You want platonic f/m relationship)

-if this ship makes you uncomfortable for ANY REASON block it. You are reasonable for you experience in the fandom. You can ask other fan to make easier to do so but the aren’t requires to stop making content you don’t like. Not everything you don’t like or are uncomfortable with is problematic. Just because you don’t like the ship doesn’t mean you get to harass people who do ship it. Set your boundaries without insulting others!

- I’m sick of Fandom Discourse and Shipping Wars.

- I feel like if you join any fandom, you should expect people to have different opinions, viewpoints, and interpretations than you. There is a place for respectfully expressing you different opinions on a part of the canon and fanon/fandom.
