Sometimes I'll ponder over ideas about bringing Au exclusive characters into the main/canon universe in my Oddworld threads. Recently I had been joking with TheMudokonMessiah about adding in a different take on the Uncorrupt Universe's Sullivan into the main universe. Originally he was going to be a sort of rival of Alf's for Elli's affection.
I made mention to MM that Sullivan's voice claim was a very specific voice that voice actor Jeff Bennett does. A sort of british accent. There was a certain video I would often share with MM that included the voice i was going for. From Animaniac's Windsor Hassle.
Fast forward to last night where I pulled a joke to MM in the dm's in relation to a crossover thread we have going on her Mother 3 Lucas blog.
Then it hit me. It finally hit me. Ages ago I shared a video here that I've lost track of on my blogs. Where it featured a Mudokon News Caster named Fud and he was covering the events of Abe's Exoddus.
I remembered that Jeff Bennett was the narrator/announcer for Earthworm Jim.
Sullivan is going to be a commentator/reporter for the news/documentaries that airs to television and/or radio in mudokon settlements. He is still jealous of Alf and Elli's relationship but it never goes farther than them just bickering to each other and Sullivan just being a generally rude or sarcastic fellow, but will still befriend Abe and his brothers if they tollerate his presence. He absolutely would go with them on adventures if it gets him a story, and will allow the mud brothers to include him on things if Sullivan finds it funny or worth his time.
absolutely would go on air to narrate events and programs like this:
*grabbing mlm shippers by the shoulders* guys nobody needs to be the twink. nobody needs to be the sub. nobody needs to be the femboy. they can both be big fat hairy men who bask in each others masculinity or they can both be unspeakable monstrous creatures with inhuman genitalia it’s okay I’m holding your hand. Let me show you the way
It's fanfiction it doesn't have to be perfect it doesn't have to be accurate this is a hobby you're doing this for fun it's okay if it isn't perfect and polished you're doing it for fun [talking to myself in the mirror]
The sound of John Constantine’s incredulous voice entered the meeting room before his body did. “Fight an Infinite Realms ghost? Are you insane?! Do you want to get us killed?”
Zatanna spun and almost snarled at him. “What would you have us do then, Constantine? Maybe you’re okay with sacrificing people sometimes, but we’re the heroes. We can’t just let it keep wreaking havoc. There’s no reported deaths yet, but we don’t know how long that’ll last.”
He leaned against the wall nonchalantly and lit a cigarette. “Well, what’s it yelling about?”
“What?”
He took a long drag before continuing. “Realms ghosts– they’re basically immune to our magic, but they’re easy marks if you know how to deal with ‘em. They all have some sort of Obsession. Just work with that and they’re remarkably simple to manipulate.” His voice turned to a grumble, “Doesn’t mean they can’t be a huge pain in the fucking ass sometimes though.”
Tapping some ash off his cigarette, he looked straight back into the room again. “So… what’re they yelling about?”
im annoyed and a little pedantic so can i just say as a blanket statement
queerbaiting is when the promotion for a FICTIONAL STORY intentionally hints towards two characters having a romantic relationship, without any intention to follow through in the show, in order to get queer people watching without discouraging the homophobic enjoyers of the show
queerbaiting is NOT:
a celebrity who you think is queer because theyre gnc or they have a 'vibe'. that is a real person and they cannot queerbait
two friends of the same gender pretending to flirt with each other for fun. those are real people and they cannot queerbait
a show with two characters of the same gender who are canonically friends that YOU PERSONALLY think would be better in a relationship. that's not bating, that's shipping, and subject to opinion
there are more but those are the main examples of people misunderstanding what queerbaiting is and being mad at something that isn't actually a problem
