need to draw starmen more often, they have such a fun shape

idk here's a quick rundown of how i imagine the starmen, just for fun

They're the mass-produced soldiers of a big empire that exists in the far future. They've conquered the galaxy in their own time period, and they've become close allies with Giygas's race, who've promised them power over other time periods as well

Starmen are primarily composed out of a unique sort of metal, which is actually a liquid. They're sentient, with a robotic brain (identical to a biological lifeform's, incredibly intelligent and even capable of PSI) and a number of other cybernetic components. One of these produces a special kind of field that keeps their forms together, giving them the same solidity and durability as solid metal while still allowing for fluid and flexible movement The fields are a little sensitive though, and can only withstand too much trauma before they fail and the body loses its integrity (they melt). Their own lasers are especially deadly to them, and can instantly slice through their shields like butter

I really liked the idea of them slowly coming apart before they completely melt, so I actually did a bunch of doodles of this a couple years back (proportions are a little wonky but i think it mostly holds up pretty well ^^)

Funnily enough, this was long before I played through the Halloween Hack, which actually features melted Starmen as enemies! so that was a fun surprise haha

The Starmen are only one of the many forces Giygas had at his disposal in his first invasion, hence why they didn't have quite as big a presence in the first game. By his return in 199X however, he didn't have his own people to back him up anymore, so he was relying a lot more on them as one of his primary forces In Giygas's absence as he began to lose control over his powers, Porky took over as the de facto leader of the invasion, and started ordering in as many troops as he could to stop the Chosen Four. He actually drained so much of the Starmen's resources in doing so that they were left completely open to a sudden rebel attack in their own time period, and their empire collapsed

So yeah! That's the Starmen, they're a neat little group with a fun design, I like playing around with them a bit :3

Angsty Doodle Dump (Spoilers!)

I love drawing angst, but it never turns out as cool as it looked in my head, aheh. But here are a couple of my favorite angstiest moments I attempted to draw. Beware of spoilers!

no words. designed in perfect and homosexual complements. black & white = yin & yang. black hair white shirt black skirt. white hair black shirt white skirt. also they’re fire & water.. elemental coded. qif’s glasses are black & white too... everything about them represents them as a pair. and they both have gold & blue highlights. what is it going to be, white & black tuxes at the wedding or do witches get married in gowns. just skip to that chapter it’s fine

The. Tassels. they chose to live together and entwine their lives around each other. it means MORE that it was choice and not fate. nuff said............... p.s. read my fic

they used to hate each other. and with slightly different happenstances in life they end up killing each other (with pathos). but that stuff means something in its own way so it’s fine they’re fine.

they just met randomly. BUT... they had to meet... they both needed to meet each other to advance their personal narratives. <3 +2 points for dying and ending up in heaven together cause that’s bonkers

another pink & blue. or red & blue more broadly. incredible. great. they match in tons of ways. like the wedding rings that capcom made.

childhood friends to whatever they are is worth 3/5 in and of itself, but then so many of their choices are literally about each other in such incredibly pathetically gay ways that it’s truly nuts.

i don’t know what to say. the narrative and the heartcrushing 7 minute romantic ending song that haunts my waking moments even now are what they are. i don’t know what to say

well... their colours are both black & red... ? kind of? you could say black/red & black/white. i don’t know. it looks good though.

(literally loads of spoilers................... !!!!!!!!) they were quite entirely given their powers on purpose to foil each other. but, akechi wants to be free of narratives and doesn’t want to be entwined with anyone else’s life. next time this’ll be his choice. THAT MAKES IT EVEN MORE....WHAT IT IS. also they’re just obsessed with each other and their songs are about each other and no more what ifs, what matters is how you bring joy to life when i said a false happiness would be enough you softly covered my mouth etc etc etc
