All outfits I made for my Drakgo Teacher AU! Discussion under the cut. Lore/casual fic/part 1 here.

It was very important to me for all of these outfits to look like things that canon Dr. Drakken and Shego would wear, not just by lifting palettes from canon, but by incorporating design elements seen in the clothes they wear and finding outfits that feel appropriate for their ages.

I personally believe that the age gap between Dr. D and Shego is not insignificant, there's a clear difference in the way they behave and carry themselves in canon that signals this to me, aside from the fact that Drakken went to college with James. I'd say about 10-15 years, and their clothes should reflect that, not to mention their overall tastes. Dr. D's the butt of a lot of mid-life crisis jokes (by me, LOL), but he doesn't strike me as the sort to dress like he is going through one (this is what the villain career is for, aside from it being an extended and hilarious mental breakdown. The mullet is a holdover from the 80s, not trying to recapture his youth, in my opinion).

I wanted more 80s/70s older style clothes for Drakken, but a lot don't feel like him, and the brown palettes for many of them cross over with Mr. Barkin too much. Dr. D loses his identity with the shift in colour. He works well with deeper purples and reds, but him being listless, and honestly just plain depressed, had to be reflected in the colour choices. Even the long sleeves, hinting at this insecurity he has over his skin that I have made a point of in my Teacher AU. I've seen it a couple of times in fanfic, and I've enjoyed it immensely as an element of characterisation for him.

Chinos make their appearance here, and this Ms. Go's outfit is a slight remix of the original. I characterise that outfit, where she was effected by the Attitudinator and became Ms. Go, as something she would wear at the very beginning of her training as a teacher. Here, she has a bit more bite, more of the Shego we know and love, not as demure.

I gave her a tie in one of them because I love ties and she looks so chic with it. I really wanted to incorporate her belt from her original suit, but it's too garish to fit in with any of her outfits here, and it doesn't suit anything 'normal' or anything slightly professional/chic. Drakken's was easier to implement, more subtle.

Ms. Go palette is mostly green here for story reasons, too. It helps her in gaslighting the kids. If she wears greens and neutral colours, mostly, they won't be able to really tell that she IS green. I love the idea of a teacher Shego just seriously messing with kids' heads, I've had a few teachers like that in my life, who take great amusement in watching them trip over their words, or just outright lying to them to get a funny reaction.

The Good Ms. Go also has shorter hair, which I thought was so interesting - long hair as a hallmark of Shego's evilness - even Drakken's - so I just tied it up here. If I want her to go into evil, I can just by having her let her hair go, or if she just settles down with Dr. D, it's fine, too. It's also just practical as a teacher, makes her look put-together. Headbands make women look young, I find, there's a real girlishness to them. Ms. Go is a woman! And WHAT a woman!

Finding clothes that were professional yet edgy - o my God. The trek. Shego gave me a run for my money, I will tell you. If I had to redo any of this, I might be inclined to incorporate more asymmetry. I love her original suit, it's so striking and disorienting, it's actually insane to me that Stephen Silver designed that and everyone JUST AGREED, AND SAID IT WAS FINE, YEAH, WE'LL ANIMATE THAT?! Crazy. IN 2D, TOO!

Now, original Ms. Go has heels, and even Shego wears heels in So the Drama. Why no heels here? I didn't want to draw new feet and adjust the height, okay - BUT ALSO! She's still got that holdover from her hero days. She's got to be ready at any time, to spring into action!

FORGET THE FACT THAT SHE RUNS AND JUMPS AND SOMERSAULTS IN THE DAMN THINGS IN SO THE DRAMA, OKAY! She can afford to go to Mount Olympus and have Midas karate chop the calf and lower back pain away. She doesn't have a good masseuse/physio/chiropractor here in this AU. PRE-MIDAS! (Hm, maybe Dr. Lipsky could help with that?)

anyway the story I've got so far is Quya is the elder sister to Kuzco and was originally heir to the throne. Quya was fifteen years old when Kuzco was born (and in my AU, when they lost their mother, Empress Sayri, who Kuzco is a spitting image of <3) and she was eighteen and Kuzco three when their father, Emperor Uqllu, set sail for an overseas trade agreement with a king of India. However, his ship was caught in a horrible storm that sunk it, leaving no survivors.

my story/AU is based heavily off of Kingdom of the Sun, what Emperor's New Groove was going to be before the tone was completely changed. so weeks after their father set sail with a promise to return in a few months (effectively leaving Quya in charge of both her brother and the kingdom with Yzma and the imperial council's help), Kuzco started having nightmares every night.

Now the thing you most need to know about Quya is that she loves her family, especially her baby brother, more than anything in the entire world. And she is reckless and impulsive with her own safety.

Quya had snuck into Yzma's lab before to tinker with her elixirs and stuff, and so she snuck down there in the middle of the night to find something that might help her brother. What she ends up finding is an incantation meant to chanted during a very specific sacrifice to a very specific deity. She uncovers a plot to sacrifice a son of the sun (aka Kuzco) to unleash Supay from his prison beneath the earth.

Quya takes this incantation, fearing for her brother's life, and runs to the temple of Inti. She is seen and chased by Supay conspirators all the way to the temple. She throws the incantation into the fires of Inti, is attacked by conspirators, and (I've actually just changed this a little lol) Inti in his rage turns the conspirators into ash with his flames and turns Quya into gold to protect her.

For the next fifteen years, Quya is believed to be dead, and Kuzco is raised with the ghosts of his family, barely able to remember them.

Until Quya is found during a Chipmunk Scout field trip to the temple of Inti. When she is found, she is turned back into a human, and now has to grapple with the fact that so much time as passed and her baby brother is barely a year younger than she is now. :3

And well, at the end of the Cold War. Someone got it. Someone quite important.

You might know them as President Mikhaïl Gorbatchev. The last leader of the Soviet Union. Why did he get it? Well, it was because he ended the Cold War. Or as the Nobel Peace Prize committee themselves stated:

“Prize motivation: “for the leading role he played in the radical changes in East-West relations””

“In 1989 the Berlin Wall fell, and the Cold War between East and West was brought to a halt. In 1990, the Nobel Committee gave President Gorbachev the main credit for this by awarding him the Peace Prize.”

I have read your AU, and while I obviously know you took liberties in certain aspects of history. And that this is Countryhumans. I can’t help but ask you. Even if Norway, if I am correct, got *invaded* because of the small but important river up on their border. (Seriously though, Pasvik river???? That’s what got the final straw??? Not the U-2 spy plane crash, (which caused Nikita Khrushchev to threaten Norway, with what you have probably guessed, A-Bombing all *airports* in the country.) Not the disagreements of WW2. Not even Leon Trotsky (which was threatened out of Norway) NOT even Svalbard was the cause… but the river????? The measly river…? It’s just too hilarious. And Soviet made Norway the nuclear power house??? That one??? The one that put Germans after WW2 in cages and threw rocks and tomatoes at them… (Depending on where you were at the time.) That’s the country he gives nuclear power plants too??? The one he actually liberated once (WW2 the Liberation of Finnmark.)????? Next is this piece by skimmeh of stareater au Scar and Grian who I ADORE. I love their Grian he is so creature and pesky. And this specific piece is just so cute. I love the hug under the jacket specifically, the clinginess of it. (it reminds me of how I hug my own bf lol)

And then this particular frame from doody and maruu’s ddvau — I am such a sucker for civilian Grian in this comic. Something about him having a regular, adorable, mundane crush on his coworker Scar amidst a literal superhero chaos au is just… so precious to me?? and this frame of him dreaming of being happy and in love is so— aughhhhh. oh I love watcher lore. I specifically love when it’s not overt, when it’s sprinkled in and subtle. but I also love the overt stuff don’t get me wrong.

for personal headcanons, I usually imagine Grian as an escaped watcher-in-training with all of the evo members carrying their own sort of trauma related to watchers. BIG fan of everything Martyn does in the life series too. I literally cheer when the dramatic voice starts playing hehe

🌿 any favorite interpretations?

hmmm this is vague so I’m not sure exactly what it was meant to ask but…

One of my favorite things is the way time is interpreted in @lovesick-x-prince’s Nobody Feels Like You?? if that makes sense??

the fic takes place in third life and I believe it’s written like the events took place over the course of about a year? and the space between places is vast, takes several days to travel across the whole server. and minecraft mechanics are seamlessly worked in, with things like insta-breeding animals and inventory management being minecraft-adjacent but not strange at all. it’s a game but it’s also very realistic and brutal and intense and I seriously love it.

but it’s something about the time specifically, about it being so long, like a lifetime away from home (although they don’t remember home in this fic). I really like that.

And then on a completely unrelated note, I just generally love the headcanon of Grian, Pearl, and Jimmy being siblings. Not even necessarily blood-related, but found family, found flock. It fits them all really well.

This is a deeper and more detailed version of the 20 questions for AO3 fanfic writers.

I yanked the questions from someone in the supercorp fandom. I forget who. I never get tagged since I'm not really well known writer yet (I'm still a tumblr newbie!), so I'm doing this just for funsies and because I like answering questions.

I will be answering this for the supercorp and korrasami fandoms. My works are here (though I do one-shots on tumblr sometimes).

1) How do you keep getting ideas for your ship / fandom?

By existing, reading, listening, writing, watching things, staring at the sky and watching the clouds drift by. Seriously, my ADHD's superpower is generating ideas. So I have way too many of them, and I have a note in my Scrivener projects with all the ideas. If anyone needs more ideas, I'll spin out so many. lol

2) Which authors inspire you in your fandom, and why are they so freakishly good?

So for the Korrasami fandom, that would be @korrasamibottles for their fantastic oneshots, Progman for one of the best post-series fics I've ever read (seriously, the Asami Sato of RRU is awesome), Shigan for some amazing korrasami oneshots, FuzziFox for an adorable and action-y AU where Asami goes south with Korra, lovedeathcats for the best Indiana Jones AU ever, RainbowRosie for a great AU where bending has vanished, paxbanana's Place in the World is an interesting AU take on Korrasami. @asamiontop's Modern world AU is a must read (she also has some great supercorp one-shots). For supercorp? @jazzfordshire has exquisitely written fics, everything @fazedlight writes is gold, @snowydragonscave's oneshots are adorable, @mycatismyeditor has some great AU's that really dig into the characters, @ekingston has some of the best written AU's I've ever read, @karalovesallthegirls has the most hilarious fics ever (Mime fic), robie's AUs are some of the best slow burn I've read, TheUnforgivingMinute wrote a fantastic spookysupercorp, @coffeeshib floored me with their gorgeous prose, @rustingcat not only does amazing art but the fics are such a great slow burn, @chaotic-super's back to Krypton was absolutely goldmine of fun and digging into the lore of Krypton. I could go on. Let's just say I LOVE Y'all's fics. The above are the people who had the most impact on me personally. Where I learned the art of fanfic writing. Since I'm a science fiction writer, I tend toward creative writing techniques that don't always jive well in the fandom realm, so learning from others helps me refine my writing to use the least amount of words for the biggest impact possible. It's also great practice for my original fiction honestly.

3) Aside from the characters of your main ship, who are the characters you love to write?

I really love writing Sam Arias. Nia is also super fun to write, and writing Brainy and Lena arguing about science is always fun too. Alex is a littler harder for me to write (her snark is hard for me to capture), but she's a blast once I get in the right headspace for it. For Korrasami, I really love writing Jinora and Bolin. Asami considers both of them basically siblings at this point, and Korra does too actually. heh.

4) Are there pairings or tropes you know for sure you'd never write about? Which ones?

I will NEVER EVER writing Makorra - that is a clusterfuck I will never touch. Hell, it's why I didn't rewrite book 1 of TLOK for my Shared Moments series because I really didn't want to touch it at all. lol I just skipped to the six months after and started there. I'll NEVER write Lames or any relationship that features Mon-el. Nope. Not touching it. I prefer to write sapphic pairings for the main protagonists. Sure, side characters can have het pairings (like Brainy and Nia), but I won't write a fic with them as the focus. Other folks can do that.

5) What is your writing process and why is it cursed?

Step 1: Wake up, wash up, and get tea. Step 2. Cuddle the cat to prepare myself. Step 3: Put on my compression gloves and stretch my arms. Step 4: Put on the correct playlist (absolutely essential step otherwise it'll throw off the entire scene and then I have to start over.) Step 5: Try to avoid Tumblr. (Doesn't always work, this place is cursed I swear. lol) Step 6. Open Scrivener project (who am I kidding, these primary projects are always open on m computer). Write while my brain is cooperating. (30 to 40 minutes before I got to rest for 45 minutes then I can start writing again. Chronic illness sucks like that.) Step 7: realize I need to research something and lose two hours to that. Step 8: AO3 emailed me! Who commented this time! Oh noes, now I've fallen down the looking at the Internets.

The other thing I do is carry my journal everywhere to document everything and end up with some weird random poetry, drawings, and dialogue from people I overhear. Oh, and on bad brain days, I'll draw cursed images.

I also use Scrivener and go all haywire on all its features to a ridiculous extent. Like, I try to stuff ALL my outlines, research, scenes, into that Scrivener so it's all in one place, that way I don't forget anything. It makes for large projects. ha.

6) What is your favorite part of your writing process?

Incorporating my research into the story in subtle ways to fill out the world and immerse the reader more fully. It's fun to put some of this research in the end-notes for my fics on AO3. (The power AO3 gave us writers with those end-notes!!)

7) What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to research for a fic?

Maturation of bird species and the DNA overlap with human beings to see if I can craft an alien species that is at least 90% DNA similar to humans but is more birdlike.

I looked up the absorption of chemicals through skin. (This is why I use duckduck go for anonymity for this sort of stuff. LOL)

8) Is there a particular writing rule you struggle with (grammar, spelling, tense, reality in general)?

Reality in general - ha. Seriously though, the chronic illness makes it really hard to concentrate and have energy for writing or really anything. The second thing I struggle with is I have an annoying habit of adapting my tenses to what I'd last read. So if the story I read was past-tense, I'll jump into my writing using past tense (which most of my stories is that tense, but there's two that aren't so that's when it gets annoying).

9) What was your hardest scene to write so far and why?

The hardest scene was the end of Book 3 for Shared Moments for the Korrasami series. Both Asami and Korra (due to the bond they forged by accident at Harmonic Convergence) are captured by Zaheer, so that was a brutally painful set of scenes. Full of pain, fighting, poisoning, and a struggle to survive. I wept through it honestly. Whew. Yikes. For Supercorp, the hardest scene was when Nia assists Lena with her dreams and memories of her birth mother. Those were so sad and I totally teared up writing them. It was also hard to sort out the best way to reveal details without giving too much away either. Since Nia's powers are a little all over the place too.

10) Have your characters ever done something you didn’t expect, changing your plot completely?

All the time! For the TLOK: Shared Moments series, Asami keeps surprising me, so I often have to sit down and remap her timeline, and it always enriches the entire series. For Supercorp, Nia keeps doing things that surprise me. She's like this chaotic good agent that adds in humor and twists that enrich the tale in subtle ways I think. There's many other surprising moments the characters do. That's half the fun! Seeing where the characters end up and if I need to adjust my plans. :D

11) If you could converse with any of the characters, who would it be and why?

That's a tie between Asami Sato and Lena Luthor honestly. But then I sort of think of them as basically the same person (Lena may be more neutral in temperament while Asami is chaotic good. Also, Asami isn't afraid to fly planes and crash them for Korra. Lena would prefer no flying. lol). I just wanna talk science with them. Oh and ask them about how in-love they are with Korra and Kara respectively. (Lena will try to deny it, but Asami will gush and admit it because she's a little more in touch with her feelings). I just love these two so much. :D

12) What are some of the tropes or themes that you find yourself returning to in your writing?

Healing journeys. I really enjoy writing healing from trauma, because I feel like it's so relevant for our times, and the characters never really get that in their series (well, Supergirl characters don't, and they really need it!).

The theme of chosen family is another theme I come to again and again. Partly due to how my life is -- my bio family is not healthy for me (outright abusive), so my chosen family is my real family. So I like to dig into those dynamics a lot.

I also tend to write the survivor narrative a lot. It's a more interesting narrative structure, but it's also less used so that can startle readers. Sometimes in good ways? A good example of a survivor narrative structure is TLOK actually.

Another good example of the survivor narrative is Sam Arias' journey in Season 3 of Supergirl. Maybe I'll write an essay someday on it.

13) What's your most important resource as a writer?

There's isn't any one most important resource. I'd say fellow writers and artists is a great resource, lore books is another, random research books (yes, I have a guide to weapons for writers, guide for poisons for writers, guide to x or y for writers, because I'm a nerd like that), the Internet, and lots of listening to others.

14) Can you share some of your strategies for editing and revising your work?

For editing/revising, I start with SPAG: spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Once I do a few run-throughs of that, then I look at the dialogue -- Is the dialogue true to the character's personality and quirks? Can I make the dialogue more succinct?

After that, I look at descriptions: Is the description immersive? Do I utilize the five senses in a concise way? Can I pare down the description while still keeping the immersive quality? Is there any description that doesn't add to the scene or character's growth and can that be moved to a different scene or saved for later?

Finally, I do a fresh read-through and check how it impacts my emotions. Do I laugh at the funny parts? Do I tear up at the sad/angst parts? Does it feel too dry or not emotive enough? What words could be used instead to better invoke emotions?

15) Which is worse: making the summary, picking the tags, or the anxiety when you post your fic?

Ugh, summaries are the worst. Sometimes it's easier to just pick an excerpt of a scene and slap that as the summary. Tags are even worse. I never know what to use for tags, especially since people seem to be kind of random with AO3 tags. I mean, I feel like some writers just will write a statement as a tag and it's amusing but also confusing.

16) How do you define success for your fanfic - hits? Kudos? Comments? Bookmarks? Or just if you like it?

I don't really measure success.

If I get comments from folks that say they're enjoying it? That's a source of joy for me but it's not about success. Because I'm writing mostly for my enjoyment, but to hear that others enjoy it too? Damn, that's like the best news ever. It really helps me feel better about myself and my writing. Like I'm valued and not forgotten. That I actually have an impact. So yeah, go leave comments if you like stuff, please. Us writers love it.

17) Do you have a playlist for your favorite character / ship?

YES. I Always make a playlist for each project I do. I craft it based on their personality, their character arcs, the mood of the piece, and I focus on a variety of genres. I think about the lyrics of songs and try to match it all together. I might spend way more time on playlists than I need, but since I have them playing as I write, I need them to fit the mood and atmosphere to increase inspiration.

18) If fan art was going to be made from your work, which fic would you pick and which fan artist would you like to create it?

Um. Huh. This is a hard question. I try to draw my own, but I can't do color (y'all that do color, are freaking WIZARDS). I think Confession fic and the scene where Lena resurrects Kara, and if and when I have money again, I'd ask @rustingcat if commissions are open for them.

For Korrasami, I'd choose Book 3 or 3.5 but I'm not sure on the artist.

19) How many WIPs do you currently have?

UM. If I count just fanfics, probably fifteen. I'm actively working on six. (Three in each fandom. Two are usually shorter, and one is the longer fic) If we include original fiction and fanfiction? Uhhhhh. Hahahah, that's like twenty-five or so. I'm only working on one original fiction piece set on my SF world of Elivera.

20) What's your advice to new fanfic writers?

Pace yourself and take some time to edit and revise before posting. Also, take some time to review the transcripts and how the characters talk. That can give some fun insight into the characters and ways to expand on them in interesting ways.

Ask questions a lot! There's so many nice folks in the fandom, and folks are so kind about answering questions. I know because I still ask questions and talk to folks about this, and more seasoned writers have been so lovely.

Write what you want. Don't write for your readers (unless someone requests and pays you for a fic, then I guess write for them. lol) but otherwise, write what you want. This is supposed to be fun. If you're getting stressed out, take a break otherwise you will get burned out. To avoid burn out, take time to rest. Read a bit, do fun hobbies, do some practice writing, and then dive back into your fic.

Yes, it's important to try to finish things, but don't feel pressured. Remember, having fun is crucial! It's okay to take your time. Readers will stick with you if they like your tale.

Setting

So this au takes place in the early to mid 1920s somewhere around Brooklyn, New York I think, not sure when and where exactly yet- It’s been 6 years since some past events, (which I’ll write about later) and this is also when the Prohibition Era started, so speakeasy’s and small bootlegging joints are starting to pick up.

Characters and other stuff

In this au Bendy is one of the top bootleggers for “The Vigilante” speakeasy, a pretty successful and popular speakeasy at that, located on the edge of a forest and under the ownership of Mr. Allen. Bendy’s best friend and main partner is Alice (just because why not) and usually go together when doing pickups, robberies, etc… Their getaway driver, William Click, is also good buddies with the both of them and is the one who takes the booze back to “The Vigilante”. William is also the bartender at “The Vigilante”. There are other partners that Bendy and Alice work with but it’s usually for bigger jobs. Phill or Philip is the “Vigilante’s” personal nurse, he lives over in the forest in a decent sized house and that is where anyone seriously injured is sent over. He’s very reserved so he’s usually not in the speakeasy. Margret is Mr. Allen’s personal assistant and maid, she’s very kind and loves company and reading.

There’s a rival speakeasy called “The Chokeberry” whom’s run by Betty Francis. The two speakeasies are equally popular, but they don’t usually ever cross paths. 

Now to the good guys ig, Detective Stein (yes he’s a private detective here) with fake first name Martin, his two partners Tom “Boris”, and Allison usually are the accompany him to crime scenes and other things of the sort. He’s not usually supposed to be let in since he’s a private detective- but he’s been able to work his way around that a few times. Detective Stein is pretty well known in the area as a very kind man and extraordinary when it comes to solving cases. Tom is the brute force of the trio while Allison is usually the gunner.

Detective May is a detective in the local police department and usually rivals Stein when solving any case. She usually gets very upset whenever she see’s Stein at a crime scene. Linda Howell is her personal assistant (yep she’s here too), she usually files the paperwork that May doesn’t want to handle, although she does wish to be on the scene investigating instead of lying around in an office.

Det. Stein and Linda also work together in secret to get more information on the “Ink Demon” case specifically because the both of them take quite an interest to it. The reason it’s secret is because if May found out she would definitely not be happy-

That’s basically it, again expect changes and little edits here and there because i might change or add smth to the story later :)

i've never seen a fandom hate and spite their own mc more than the tekken fandom. i was browsing r/Tekken one day for tips on how to beat lili and unsurprisingly i found a post where people kept disrespecting him on his OWN BIRTHDAY. seriously, as someone who is a diehard stan of kazuya mishima and sasuke uchiha (i loved both of them since i was a kid) even those two get more respect than jin - the naruto fandom on reddit never straight up disrespected sasuke on his birthday.

worst part of it all is that jin got basically the same treatment as luke from star wars and captain america in marvel comics - he was just ooc as fuck in tekken 6 and his characterization in that game completely contradicts tekken 3-5 jin. it can easily be fixed too by just saying he got brainwashed by azazel (like how nina got brainwashed by ogre). jin fans get called whiny for trying to retcon or fix their own favorite, but side character fans (ex. paul, law, etc) get a fix their own fav and be called "the best writers in all of fiction". i think i also remember seeing someone say they hope jin's va gets terminal c*ncer and dies so the writers could have miguel kill him off and then replace him with kazuya or lars as the new mc while xiaoyu fucks hwoarang or something (i checked to see if it was still there, but they probably deleted their twitter account).

why can't the tekken fandom just do what voltron stans do and ignore canon while making their own?...yes, everyone and their grandma knows tekken story has gone down the shitter since post tekken 5. so then instead of saying "Tekken story sucks and no one cares about lore in fighting games" for the 100th time how about fucking make your own au's and fanfic.

honestly it's hard to look thru any jin content without a joke about tk6, or straight up bitter haters. i'm not saying every jin post has a comment with that content, but there's a lot that does. reddit is probs the worst place for jin hate too as i see it there the most. heck, i get hate for being a jin main. usually when they don't agree with one of my takes, they point out me being a jin main and how we're all retarded or some shit. (alisa & jun are now more of my mains, but that was back then when i still listed jin as my main lmao) so whilst you're still gonna come across jin hate on places like twitter or even here, it's best to steer away from reddit 'cos it's most egregious there.

yeah. most normal fandoms do just ignore canon, or if they can't ignore canon 'cos it's canon, they acknowledge it's trash and purpose ways it could've been handled better. but the tekken fandom isn't like that. they're insistent on jin being a fucker head because it happened in one game. and yeah, i have seen ppl say jin fans are either whiny or losers for wanting to say he was brainwashed and not hold him responsible for his actions. and it's like, yeah, i approve of holding characters responsible for their actions. but the problem with jin is that his character should've never been written to commit those actions to begin with - i'm not gonna care to hold a character responsible when they were out of character. i'm just gonna criticize the writing.

also maybe you saw that on a message i already answered? there was another anon that also told me something similar that their sister or friend was praying for that in a church lol. i dunno if you're the same anon or not (as you both have similar takes regarding the treatment of jin's character)

i think the reason why tekken fans have a harder time ignoring the Bad Parts of canon compared to fandoms like marvel, star wars, or certain animation is because of the "stories in fighting games don't matter" saying that's popular. it gives people the mentality that they shouldn't care about the story as much... yet ironically caring about it as they're mad at jin for being the Hope of Mankind lmao.

Wanderfell Lore Post 2023

Yes I updated it again, so Wanderfell is a Wandersong AU that started out as a simple, “Kiwi and Miriam are villains” AU but has evolved a little bit over time, the main premise, that they’re antagonists to the hero, which is still Audrey, but she’s a hero in a different way, still remains,  their brand of evil is more like... showboaty and cartoony, not actual morally reprehensible things

Characters: 

Audrey (Renamed Dragonfruit): Hero with a heart of gold, she's more patient, stubborn, and tries to talk things out, but she's also kind of a liar Sword can shoot all types of elemental magic cause why not, plus it has teleportation powers and gives her godly endurance

Kiwi (Renamed Pomegranate): Optimistic and motivated, a little prankster, doesn't think things through, selfish, overprotective, but also extremely loyal Singing still affects the world around them, whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, and it also amplifies Razzberry's magic

Miriam (Renamed Razzberry): Grumpy, Possessive, Impulsive, Selfish, deep down she's actually a softie Shadow Magic, Elemental magic, brews her own potions and grows her own plants, infinite inventory space in her hat

Plot: 

The overseers are still in charge of the world, they're all powerful and have certain dominion over certain elements in the world, also they're switched with their fairies from the OG game cause i find it fun

A hero is chosen by Eya every so often (think how the paintbrush is given to wielders and eventually they retire a la chicory: a colorful tale) to protect the overseers, they're given a magical sword that, depending on how you use it, is basically all powerful

The hero who is chosen by Eya is worked TO DEATH, Eya (named Harmoneya) works her heroes to the bone in order to keep the perfect harmony of her world while no one else can, if she feels they aren't performing well enough she can take them over... (Also yes my version of Eya is an orb of light)

Pomegranate learns about the hero and wants her uber powerful sword cause no one takes them seriously in life and they're belittled cause they do petty crime but they want to be infamous. Pom and Raz meet during Pom's quest to find the person who WAS given the sword, Raz wants to steal the power of the overseers, but Pom is mostly just obsessed with the sword, the two team up, agreeing that Raz can get whatever overseer magic she wants but Pom gets the sword

They run into Dragonfruit who has the sword and they fight her for it a bunch, but alas... despite how pathetic she looks...she is strong....and they can’t beat her

In this au the overseers aren't like deteriorating or dying, Raz and Pom are too stupid to realize hurting them would spell the end of the world and Rags doesn't want to hurt them so she will always try to reason with/befriend them before stopping their plans

This does eventually work, they get a soft spot for her and learn that her goddess is an evil fucked up being and decide they'll find a way to free Dragonfruit from her fate... and that's pretty much the open plot LOL, thank you for reading!! here are their sprites :)

Important facts: 

- Pomegranate is a vampire, why? Idk cause I wanted them to be - Razzberry really likes plants and animals, she has a soft spot for nurturing things, but she’d never say it - Dragonfruit lives in a freakin mcmansion in her village, but the villagers sort of revere her which makes her alienated to them, also she has a pond on her roof :)

The reason i say i have like seven different versions of UF on rotation in my brain is because there are several different Styles of UF that i really like and can never really decide on which I'd consider my Main one, on top of also Lore, which i have a few different ideas for, too.

So like, we have the one i talk abt most often probably, which we'll call AngstFell, because. I'll be honest i love angst and i love doing terrible things to characters. This is the one where they have core issues, supply issues, food shortages, LVlost culling, very complicated and sort of miserable relationships between just about all of the characters. No One is having a good time pretty much, but despite everything, there is still hope...

Then there's how i often mentally refer to it as SillyFell, which is basically just like. If everyone in UT decided to try to be mean and was mostly really bad about it. In this one, things are still generally worse, but having LV is still somewhat uncommon, mostly only guards would have it, and people are generally more sad than they are mean/angry.

And then we have what's probably """closest to canon""" as far as my understanding of it goes, where it's sort of somewhere in between the two prior ones, in that there's definitely still silliness, and their UT selves aren't too far removed from them, but it still can get pretty heavy, and problems aren't as surface level as Silly.

Then we have my """fanon"""fell which is essentially something I've done for most AUs, where i try to imagine circumstances that could possibly, believably (by my own standards and interpretations) make the characters behave more in line with fanon portrayals. This one's way more difficult to summarize since the changes are more character specific, but generally, as far as "seriousness" goes, it falls in a similar place as "Canon"Fell.

And then there's Tale to Fell (v.1) which is essentially based around the idea that UF kind of started as UT, but slowly became UF due to Circumstances like core trouble and slightly different events going down with the humans, both during the war, and with what happened to Chara and Asriel. (End results are similar to "Canon"Fell)

But there's also Tale to Fell (v.2) which is based on the premise of UT slowly becoming UF after Frisk has fallen into the underground due to waaay too many resets and gradual code fuckery. (Opposed to v.1, this is actually a concept I've never seen explored before! Not to say it isn't out there somewhere, but i have a rough draft layout of a potential fic abt it that will...probably never happen bc it would take a lot of commitment lol)

So we have those bad boys, but then there's also differences depending on Lore. Like there's one version i think of sometimes where Papyrus is the older brother, or a version where Gaster didn't make Sans and Papyrus but was actually their adoptive uncle, and another with Gaster Papyrus where, as it goes, the incident that "shattered" Gaster created Papyrus, one where Undyne knew the bros as kids briefly, one where Asgore's just Terrible for like, no real reason, like. There are a lot of ways to think about it!!

And that's not even taking into account all of the Fell based story ideas like the psychonauts one, the one where the bros are gb shifters, one where Papyrus is [redacted], one where there's a zombie like plague outbreak that can only affect monsters with LV, one where Frisk winds up living underground with them all for a Hot Minute, and then of course there's the AUs, like Vesselfell, Horrorfell, Heartfell, Lovefell, Invertedfell, Orangefell, that mysterious one I've been mulling and have not talked about at all with Albatross-

My Main Ships (in the AU)

Figure I’ll list the ships in my AU. Some of them are what the tender youth would call ““problematic.”” I see them as ‘compelling’, ‘having actual stakes,’ and having challenging conflicts beyond ‘will they love meee in this coffeeshop?’. Many of these people canon and OC have been with this AU since its inception and serve up the many themes found in it. Yes, some of them overlap as I'm team let people grow and have experiences/multiship. Nemesis/Jill The bread and butter of this AU. Full of complication as to why each proceeded with *dramatic handwave* this. A lot of unhealthy coping with their mutual and separate traumas (other than you know that whole trying to kill each other biz). Also, fun toying with that human/monster divide and how intimacy is wildly different between the other in monstrous ways. Is by far the most complicated ship. Gets very unsettlingly trippy with that 'mental connection' they have these days. Nemesis/Zeus(OC) I was apparently doing monstery brocon/twincest before it had a name (also lol myth shout out)? In seriousness, this is one of the most toxic ships in the AU because the two essentially are what happens when abuse travels down the line leading to unhealthy copes. It just happens to be between two highly dangerous monsters who both lack the concept of what family much less consent is (or even orientation; neither gets what that is, gender is 'what humans need us to be') while raised in horrible captivity, with one very out of his damn mind. Also noting that this AU doesn't deal in 'perfect' victims. Chris/Sheva A tragic pair that came to be out of Chris cheating on Jill out of loneliness and the distance Jill’s trauma caused. Things resolved where these two became an item (with Jill’s blessing even) but the vibe of Chris settling won't leave Sheva along with the torch for Jill Chris denies is there. He loves Sheva, he truly does, but that feeling for Jill is there, and Sheva, despite it all, hurts from that fact (never mind the guilt of at one time being the other woman). Ada/Carlos The spicy bi panic of two free spirits who know who they are and what they are about. Meeting up by ‘chance’ or rather by ‘plan’ as what are the odds of a spy and a guy for hire meeting up at the same places? They clearly run in similar circles but the attraction and fun of having a good time is there. Funny enough, one of my most healthiest of ships.

Shana(OC)/Jessica(OC) My too wholesome to live lesbian ship. One is a BSAA ‘green’ who after years of taking jobs under the table fighting BOW, can work on the up and up to fund her wife’s MS treatments. Aside from some of Shana’s work history (and the depths she’d go to save her wife), these two are just deeply in love with each other. Bonus round: Not as featured but part of the AU *lore* Brad/Gwen(OC) The secret between them – Brad hooking up with a too young Gwen and ending up with a love child – was what resulted in Brad living in fear of doing more wrong to her and his son, Tomas. Secretly paid money and cared for them at her request as Gwen didn’t want all their lives destroyed. Was it right? No, but this dynamic worked until someone found out using it to blackmail him into leaving Alpha Team behind at Spencer Mansion for hours. Trent(OC)/Gwen(OC) Trent and Gwen found themselves teen parents with the arrival of Tomas (he didn’t know Tomas wasn’t his). Trent was defeated by the prospect of his plans in the military being derailed and turned to drinking. He loved Gwen and Tomas but was prone to flirting when not sober. Gwen, hardworking and from the ‘wrong side the tracks’ sees herself as pragmatic and tried to manage the situation she found herself in with all the foibles of a teen that grew up too fast. Working jobs with a fake ID, she fought for her little family and cared for Trent and Gwen but held resentment to him not being reliable hence her staying out late and drunkenly hooking up with Brad. Tomas was her whole world and would crawl through hell for her son. Trent and Gwen are a hot mess that had Raccoon not happened would have probably either got their shit together or broken up. Ghandon(OC)/Tracey(OC) The put upon Nurse that actually cared for her ‘sons’ the NE-Ts: she read to them, talked to them like ‘people’, was a true ‘parent’ to them, watched as they gained more and more of a personality as the parasites learned. She had to ‘compete’ with Simon Ghandon’s attentions towards them who were not even remotely wholesome, to the point she played into the man’s delusions to gain the boys some respite. It, unfortunately, only worked for so long. Ghandon(OC)/His ‘boys’(OCs + Nemesis) Man with a God Complex + closeted + given complete control over 4 powerful BOW units. What could possibly go wrong? This is the main reason Nemesis has rage issues, control issues, lacks boundaries/has no idea of consent (other than not being human, so it’d been hard to grasp such a human-based concept anyway), and despises humans. Is one of the reasons (next to Nemesis) Zeus has really borked ideas on ‘love.’ This ship bracket is not just toxic, but hellish. Wesker/Jill Started as a side fling (not sexual but sexualized) feeding into Jill’s secret masochist tendencies (because no one was out about such things in the era of DADT and Anita Hill) that turns into a plot to manipulate her actions like with Brad and Barry. He intentionally knew the fallout would cause tension between her and Chris; then 5 happened. Oh boy did RE5 happen. Let’s just say he fucked her up mentally, emotionally and physically and continues to after his ‘death.’ Wesker is to Jill as Ghandon is to Nemesis. Wesker/Excella The Regional Director high on her own supply (and coke and wine) and the manipulative bioterrorist who plays along to get what he wants- what could possibly go wrong? Game playing was afoot, especially with her known jealousy toward the puppet, err Jill.

Does anyone remember this post? Well, this is a reboot of the design featured in said post, as well as a proper recreation on what the hell is this thing.

A lore background, we know the Halberd Mode is... a painful result of a bug appearing due to its inability to keep up. While the bug was indeed permanent and will wake up whenever said mode is in use, Kirby would rather have it gone so that Robobot doesn't... you know, have to suffer. But after noticing that Friend Heart is a tranquilizer and a purification method, all of a sudden there could a potentially new way to actually keep the bug from staying awake.

At some point, Kirby decided to give this idea a try, putting a Friend Heart into Robobot's control panel before scanning the Halberd as part of a improvised plan to defeat a particularly giant enemy (long story). What Kirby didn't know however, was that the Friend Heart is actually kind of volatile, and...

...oops.

Okay, first things first. This mode is basically empowered by not just the energy from the battleship, but also from the Friend Heart. Both energies are actually pretty strong, resulting in huge power burst when the mode becomes active. The fact that three people who has been stuck in a war for three months and has been besties since then are the ones using it doesn't help in the slightest.

Second, at the time, Bandee was with the two, so the waddle dee gets dragged into this as well. Poor guy. He does, indeed, become a co-pilot, and he was... freaking out, at first. He eventually got through it all though.

Third... the transformation is actually really cool. Lots of shooting stars and the way the trio gears up is actually kinda impressive. Huge moral boost everywhere.

Fourth, they realized this mode DOES have a glaring weakness, unfortunately - it needs Friend Hearts to maintain the resistance against the bug. If they can't get put one in time, the mode cancels violently, the battleship literally spawns right behind them, and they are all left vulnerable. Not fun. So much for something called True Resistance Form huh

However, this version of the mode turns out to be equal, if not stronger than the scanned battleship itself. This thing literally has a empowered version of Planet Buster that is so powerful, it deals MASSIVE damage.

...is that good news? Probably not for those having to face this insane mode. Pain.

Anyways, the reason why I ended up redesigning the whole thing is that I kinda want it to look like a proper final weapon. No, seriously. It looked clunky before, so hopefully this does look so much better! Plus, a crossover project ended up using this thing (it's between friends so I won't reveal)

gwen/kayn: oh... oh mythe you already know. you've got me rlly in deep on these two okay. i love the aesthetic, i love the dynamic. especially what we have going right now for hearsteel. i definitely wanna dive into main canon at some point too, because i do think kayn would enjoy her personality a lot? idk, people tend to overlook gwen a lot or misunderstand her as a goody feelsy doll. girl legit runs around with a pair of giant scissors and jokes about cutting people into bits. like?

yone/kayn: this isn't even related to heartsteel tbh. i havent dove a TON into yone's lore but i do like the feeling of the pairing. i think kayn just pairs best with characters who are as ruthless as he is. i like them in their heartsteel au too though...

zoe/kayn: if i see anyone shipping these two romantically im going to strangle someone seriously. but these two as friends? oh my GOD fuck me UP! zoe is just a goofy, cosmic little kid- she's deeply terrifying sure, but! i think she could take the edge off for kayn a bit. plus her being the new aspect of twilight? hello?? theres way more chemistry with them as besties- and even found family. you know, instead of shipping kayn romantically with a fucking child. LOL.

chenya is kinda hard to ship with ngl. he's too carefree, too loosy goosy, and really is just out here doin whatever he wants.

idia/chenya: listen. come on. this is... this is a no brainer. seriously though i do love the potential here, and not just because he's a cat. chenya, at least how i write him anyway- is so whimsical and quirky. he isn't necessarily extroverted, but he isn't a big introvert either. like, he is genuinely a cat through and through. not a beast man, not a fae-- something else. i love the idea of idia having sb who doesn't push him to go way outside his comfort zone-- but wont let him just shut himself off from the rest of the world for too long. dunno. at least with my take on him, this one is a fave.

riddle/chenya: so i could really see these two going p much any direction. i love the two of them just... interacting, regardless of the relationship. chenya has known riddle since they were kids. and a bit like trey, i like to think he knows how to push riddle without him blowing up. there is also the added factor that chenya definitely knows at least in some way, what riddle's home life is like. it's the sort of thing that would make their potential bond that much better. i could rlly go in depth on it but then i'd be here making an entire meta on it lmao.

jade/chenya: funny enough. i think jade and chenya might click really well in long term, more than you'd expect. and yeah, i could see this developing from friends, to more given the appropriate amount of time. chenya would be sooo fascinated by how weird and how deeply fucked up jade actually is. and jade likewise would be really intrigued by chenya's strange and uncanny nature... good stuff.

4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?

In a good way? Acquiesce. It just sounds lovely on the tongue and looks pretty when written. In a bad way? I've become wary whenever I see I've written "eyes" because I feel I'm overly repetitive with the "he saw x emotion in her eyes/ or /eyes filled with x emotion or concept" and now I'm paranoid about it lol.

8. If you had to write an entire story without either action or dialogue, which would you choose and how would it go?

I've written each, and it all depends on the tone of the piece. Dialogue-only works best with humor and fluff. The other works best with angst and drama.

17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.

Omfg I have a fic I just finished but is on hold for which I did a fuck ton of in-my-head lore, much of which didn't make it in the story because it's a smutty fic. OK, it's a reverse Nies AU - NHS is Da-ge and became sect leader when their father died. The fic takes place a few years later, but my lore is that after taking charge of Qinghe, NHS went from sect leader to sect leader, asking for help and for someone to believe him that WRH was behind his father's death, but no sect leader supported/believed in him - but one PERSON did.

You see, because NHS was the heir, his father worried about his not being a strong warrior because strength was respected in the Nie, so daddy Nie brought in private tutors from Meishan to educate NHS in the many ways and strategies of subterfuge. So after his failures to gain support, NHS went to Madame Yu, the only person who fully believed him about the extent of the threat WRH posed. They came to an agreement to work together, and to aid in their communication and shared strategy, it was decided that NHS would marry Jinzhu and she would become Madame Nie.

To the rest of the Jianghu, NHS is the Headshaker who's been floundering after his father's death and who is being controlled by Madame Yu through his wife. Behind closed doors, he has come to care for his wife (who, yes, is quite a bit older than him) but only trusts her so far, but she's the same, and it kind of works for them, and the bunch of them have slipped spies into Qishan Wen, and sometimes Jinzhu and Yinzhu go off on missions and most of the time NHS doesn't ask for details because he knows she won't give them, he's just happy to have her home safe. NMJ also knows his Da-ge isn't the idiot he pretends to be, but trusts him fully to protect him and bring justice to their father's memory.

NHS has also gained a reputation as a terrible flirt and regularly teases the wives (and husbands) of his fellow sect leaders, inviting them to Qinghe should they ever tire of their inattentive spouses. Most of them are flattered and enjoy the attention from a younger, handsome, and charming man - particularly Madame Jin who is unused to such attention considering the asshole she married. It's part for show, to be seen as a hedonist and not to be taken seriously, but also because he really doesn't like the way JGS and others like him treat their spouses and if Jinzhu allowed him he would totally start his own harem.

*ahem* and on top of all that, when WWX was first brought to Lotus Pier, NHS was visiting there with his father, so when JFM decided to give away JC's dogs, NHS asked his father to take them. JC and NMJ have become very close friends and play with the (no longer) puppies whenever one visits the other's sect. This has made Madame Yu a LITTLE less hateful toward WWX, though not too much. But the boys' friendship is another thing uniting NHS and YZY in their efforts - making the world better for the ones they love most.

The fic this was for, BTW, was for NHS pretending Jinzhu isn't his wife and seducing her away to an empty room for a quickie during a cultivation conference.

24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?

If there are a lot of thoughts and pieces, I like to do a point for outline, either of events/hoe the story will go, or facts and scenes I want in there cuz if I don't write them down, I might forget the details. Though quite often I don't prepare at all and just dive in head first lol.

A loophole in the rules

This is pure unhinged shit. I decided to leave it on a cliff hanger just for some fun and bc holy shit I’ve been picking at this for a good while now, lol. And, just a reminder for any new people this draws in! This is a fic where the characters of the cast are aged up to 18. Think of it as an AU where Soma gets into tohtsuki later and the cast are all shuffled to be in school together or something.

It doesn’t really matter, just know everyone here is an adult, this is just dumb fun for me based on an idea I had while watching the anime. Just, enjoy. Don’t take it too seriously lol. Which, I also say because if...something in the lore is fucky wucky, again, AU. Also, ignore the vague OC, he's just there for plot. Just like this is to exercise Kuga from my fucking BRAIN.

Tohtsuki academy, the pinnacle of culinary learning. Large, cut-throat, and so expensive, that its alumni had to have generational wealth to afford the entrance fee, let alone the tuition. So, to anyone on the outside of the towering wooden gates, they wouldn’t have been amiss for the assumption that everyone who attended were little more than spoiled, snobby rich kids and tightly wound elitists. The school culture should have been nothing but the highest expectations, perfectionism, and perfectly trained politicians-to-be.

And yes, there were plenty of kids like that. Who looked down on the poor and laughed at anything below wagyu quality ingredients. However, anyone who actually attended the school knew the truth.

That in reality, the school was far more akin to the wild west than some manicured garden of marble statues. After all, the place was damn near run by ten kids from the age of 15-18, with the entire school body given the option of a challenge where they could demand just about anything as a reward for a good dish.

Which, for you, a normal, sane senior of Tohtsuki academy, created a great amount of entertainment options after the day’s classes. Especially ever since you began talking to a man named Daichi. Aka, basically your boyfriend.

Eighteen, like yourself, with a love of cooking and food akin to a frenzied shark’s hunger, Daichi was a very loud, confident man. Which, is what had drawn you to him a month or so back when he swaggered up to you on your way to your weekend club meeting. Along with the fact that he was just, cute, and seemed to have a soft spot for you. Which, felt sort of nice when he was known for being an aggressive, food-wars-happy delinquent.

He was fun, energetic, and down to earth for someone as wealthy as he was. It was a breath of fresh air for you after a handful of other rich, snobby rich boys with no concept of being anything but a stiff, judgemental brat.

However, you could also admit that he was a bit petty, vengeful, and fell on the more entitled and elitest side of the Tohtsuki academy culture. Hell, you and him weren’t even that serious, yet he still got offended when he found out you had gotten paired up with the eighth seat of the council of ten. As if you not only had power over who you shared a class with, and who your teacher assigned as project partners.

Which, on one hand, you could understand. Kuga Terunori was not only one of the school’s ten mafia bosses, but he was generally considered to be quite an attractive man. So, you couldn’t entirely be mad that Daichi felt a bit threatened that you spent a good amount of time with the pretty boy. On the other hand, though, it was still unbearably petty to be sour over the fact that your work station for a class was next to Kuga’s, and that you dared to say hi to him when you guys were in class. Regardless of the logic you could see behind it, though, you still couldn’t bring yourself to deny that your boyfriend was...a bit trigger happy with the food wars.

Honestly, how has the ten not put a cap on the food wars a single student can demand? How has nobody just wagered Daichi’s expulsion yet?You mused one sunny day, your classes done for the day and your left over chocolate charlotte cake sat on the bench beside you. Forgotten in it’s tupperware in favor of the class notes you tried to study in the soft spring air. Honestly, he’s stupid lucky no one who’s beat his ass has done that. Or, that he’s gotten his ass beat in the literal sense. Wait, I’m kind of dating him, is that bad to think?

Yet, you didn’t get much of a chance to mull over what that simple thought might have meant for you and Daichi before a shadow fell onto the page of your notebook and stubbornly stayed there. Which, drew your eyes up to the man that stood with his hands on his hips and a smug smirk on his lips. “Uh, hi Kuga. What brings you around these parts?” You asked, your posture quickly straightened as you tried to meet the man’s peachy brown eyes. Which, in the warm light of the afternoon, turned a lovely pink color. “Hi!” He said in the chipper voice you had quickly realized was used to either mock, or endear the dual-haired man to people. Which, instantly made you scan the man over for any tell-tale signs of ill intention.

Which, gave you an excuse to take in the pink hue of his eyes, and the fluffy puff of sunflower blonde bangs that framed his fair face and almost distracted from the rest of his carefully unkempt chocolate-colored hair. but also allowed you to notice that he smelled like a weird, almost off-putting combination of cinnamon-sandalwood cologne and the permanent scent of sichuan peppercorns that had long since seeped into the fibers of his dark-blue school blazer and pants. But, didn’t give away any clues for why the council member was in front of you with his arms crossed and a smirk on his lips. “Uh...may I help you, sir?” You asked in the hopes that the prompt would. Actually get a response from the chipper man. “Oh, I just wanted to invite you to a food war, that’s it.” He said, the bright tone still in his voice, “Why?” “Because I feel like you should be there. I also sort of, y’know, just want you there.” He said simply, and you got the strong sense that he was less asking, and more informing. And, with his seat on the ten, you knew, that he knew, you didn’t get the option to refuse. So, you sighed, “Alright, when is this food wars? And, uh, why did you want me there?” “Oh, you’ll see! And it’s right now, so come on!” He sang, his tone suddenly back to the bright and sunny facade before he grabbed your hand and pulled you towards the school’s arena. Where, you simply had to hope you’d get the answers you so desperately craved.

But, those answers wouldn’t be from Kuga Terunori, because the moment you crossed the threshold, he let you go with a simple, “Get to the front of the crowd, ‘kay?~” sang back at you as he trotted off towards the green rooms where those who were going to duel awaited the official start of the match.

Maybe I should just walk out. You mused as you followed the flow of the crowd to the stadium seats. Where, you debated doing as asked and sitting in the front, or going to the back. In the end, you chose not to go against a man as short as Kuga, so you stayed near the guard rail that protected the student audience from falling into the brightly lit arena below.

Which, was good, because while the arena was used almost exclusively for food wars, the floor was still a waxed wood type of floor akin to what you’d see in a normal gymnasium. Which, meant that a fall from the high bleachers would not end softly. And, with how dark the large open floor was, if you landed wrong in the thick shadows that the artificial light didn’t illuminate, nobody in the crowd, judge’s bench, or the contestants at the temporary cooking stations would see you until the lights all came on. But, all of that threat did little to dissuade the crowd of girls when Terunori finally emerged, soon followed by a more familiar figure.

Fucking daichi you dumb shit. What did you bargain to get Kuga to agree to this stunt? You thought as you leaned against the cool metal of the fence. And, while the judges began to explain the theme and the general challenge that Daichi, your aggressive, loud-mouthed boyfriend had thrown at the eighth seat of the council of ten, you looked the pair over.

To start, Daichi wore the classic chef whites, only smudged with the faded, light stains of his chaotic cooking style. His hair was kept firmly from his face so that it stayed out of his eyes, and he had a smug smile to match the shorter Kuga’s own grin. And, of course, Kuga was equally as dressed up for the event. Though, instead of the french-style chef’s whites, Kuga had on a white changshen, or maybe changshen-inspired? You couldn’t be sure, with gold at the hems. And, unlike Daichi, his outfit didn’t have a speck of sauce or food on it. He must somehow bleach that thing after every battle. “-And as a reward for winning, uh...apparently Daichi’s...girlfriend?” fucking what?
