Rewatched Mutant Mayhem with friends, gives me a chance and excuse to revisit Venus De Milo in the same style

Still prefer her not being a sudden missing turtle sibling but if the crew did that I think they could probably make it work in a fun way.

My take on Big Mama’s Assistant/Fifth Turtle. I wanted to adapt Venus bc for 30 years she has haunted my brain and I wanted to make her a smidge less terrifying. 😂

Technically her claws are her weapons, but she either manifests them purely through Hamato Ninpo or (not shown) augmented robot limbs provided by Donnie.

Personality-wise, she’s either the Super Serious at-any-cost barely-reformed villain type, or the Agent of Chaos with very little in between as she adjusts to her new life. She and Cassandra are two peas in a pod and bond over being brainwashed by villains.

I didn’t want to make her Girl Leo™️ so instead of teal/light blue her color is black. She’s a spiny soft shell turtle. I purposefully gave her visual cues similar to Donnie and Leon so I could make this joke:

originally i didn't think it made sense for hobie to have his own mj because if gwen is a rocker in his world it stands to reason that mj would still be a part of her band or at the very least part of the scene at the same time since like.... they're way more connected as characters than 616 hobie is to either of them but also it would be super funny if hobie knew someone who went by mj specifically because they were as big a fan of the mary janes as he is

The day after his Performance Park gig, Carlos visited the coffeehouse to audition for a gig there.

Unfortnately, the proprietor was not impressed and Carlos was forced to return to his Sing-a-Gram grind.

I think he's starting to appreciate how much joy they spread, even if they're corny as hell. Requests came in all day long Saturday, and apart from a stop at home in the afternoon for a late lunch and a shower, he was out on the town fulfilling every last one of 'em.

made up my mind with the whole casey and hun situation

hun is casey’s step dad, and the father of case’s half sister angel

casey and hun hate each other, and angel has a pretty strained relationship with hun

he eventually gets his redemption through venus/mei

in next mutation, where venus de milo got her debut as the fifth/girl ninja turtle, venus’ real name is mei pieh chi, and she grew up in chinatown

so the idea is that hun, seeing what the foot turtles are going through, starts to reach out. he bonds the most with venus, and he becomes the father that venus never had and hun couldn’t be for angel. hun says something about if he ever had a daughter he could’ve named himself he would’ve named her mei.

while angel had changed her name to not be chinese(because a. she’s trans and just happened to settle on the name angel and b. because of her strained relationship with her dad she distanced herself from that side of her ethnicity) venus adopts the name mei over time when she gets closer to hun(which wouldn’t take long since he’s one of the only people showing her kindness), which goes with the idea of “venus de milo” always being a name put on venus that wasn’t really hers. in idw, it’s what the scientist names her

and in next mutation the other turtles just kinda start calling her that and while she never expresses discomfort with it they still don’t even ask.
