I need to talk about how bad one of Crowley's scenes was translated to Hungarian. (I know most people don't really care, it's a small country, but it isn't about the language, it's about changing an (I think important) element of Crowley's character.)
I'll talk (write) about this scene, one of my personal favourites in season 2;
Here, we can see how casual Crowley is about his gender. I love it. It's not a big coming out, it isn't over explained, he just drops it and it could pass unnoticed. Because it's not important for him. He isn't angry about it or anything but he still decides to correct Mrs. Sandwich. And for me it is an important moment. Crowley cares enough to correct people. Not sitting down and have a whole talk about it, but casually mentioning it.
This is why I hate what happened in the Hungarian translation. I'll try to explain it the best way possible; instead of using a word like lad, dude, man or whatever, the translation uses the word 'ember'. This word means two things; person and/or human. In this case Mrs. Sandwich is clearly meaning it as 'person' (she basically says: You're a good person). Then Crowley says the same thing, about not being either (Crowley, I assume, interpreting the word as 'human').
It doesn't sound bad, and if you don't know the original version, it is fine. But it takes away a lot about who Crowley is.
How he wants other people to see his gender: Obviously, coming out or not coming out doesn't change who he (or anyone) is, and him not saying anything about his gender is fine, and it doesn't mean that it is what most people would assume (in this case male). But the fact that he cares enough to be correcting people (who he doesn't really know) makes it clear that he wants others to know it. It is part of his character, being open. He doesn't have to say it, but he does, he feels comfortable that way and for me that is an important trait. Sadly, it is ignored and taken away from him in the translated version.
Not being human: He just basically tells a human being that he's not one. And I don't think Crowley would go around telling everyone that he's not human, I mean, he's wearing those sunglasses 24/7, he could just take them off if he'd want people to know. Also, it feels like telling everyone makes him less serious (in a way).
So the translation doesn't only hide a part of him but also makes viewers believe something else about him, that contradicts his actions. And I don't blame the translators, but it makes me a bit mad (and sad) that there are people who will see a different version of Crowley, only because of the use of a word that sounds better.
Anyway, basically the moral of this post is, watch everything in the original version!!

I wanna see ur V opinions
I bought and read a collection of Blake poetry because of this man.
V is kinda weird because while he's Vergil he's not wholly Vergil, just a small part. So my feelings about him are similar but not as intense.
