#It's like the happy media equals angsty fandom and vice versa but like. Video game series about the dreams and adventures of childhood with #A fandom full of angst and abandonment and depression and smut #It's why I don't really stay in the loz fandom long each time I circle back around #There's so much potential for good things and comfort and snuggly warmth and lightheartedness.#Like yeah messed up things happen in front of and to link but kids are resilient beasts and most importantly they fix it #He's literally wearing the Peter pan hat to invoke that sort of eternal wonder that's the DESIGN of the hat that's why it's so identifiable #Fanart captures it a lot. The gorgeous landscapes and quiet moments and dappled sunlight #But fics???? Oh lu fics are just full of miscommunication and resentment and sour interactions and pain and simmering anger #I prefer to read trusted authors because it's so wearing but the problem is you have to go out and find them lol #It's a very controversial belief of mine that every link enjoyed their adventure even if it was scary or sad and would not be averse to #Another. Oh the circumstances they might hate. But link has never been one to refuse the call #That's the POINT they stepped up when the adults couldn't it's their COURAGE that they'd be fastest to volunteer.#Unrelated but post game botk is adhd central you can do literally whatever you want and whatever pace and you just drift around getting #Distracted and teleporting all over and setting challenges and poking around every nook and cranny #Like botw I had over 300 koroks and 98% map completion. I maxed out hero's path twice over. Totk I've just been wandering around #Speed farming lynels like 17 different goals drifting from one to the other as I wish. I think it's so funny to decorate room by room because you can tell which room I have no clue what to do with

#stardew valley #sdv #video games #gaming #sdv farmhouse #the junimo plant is LITERALLY the best furniture item #it's SUCH a good space taker #i think the last room is just going to be a partial indoor greenhouse and butterfly farm #and then just a reading nook #i like that the island house is literally just the farmer's. it would be cool if your spouse could visit it when they go to the beach tho #but like. it's JUST the farmer's space. you don't have to worry about furniture obscuring pathing of the spouse/children #so when i decorate this house i always like to go 'what would *i* want in this space'#i honestly really like how this house is turning out. i didn't think it would take the direction it did lol #it's a very blue house which is surprising because my favourite colour is yellow and i usually decorate with it primarily

my dream is to have a bookshelf (or couple of bookshelves) dedicated to the star wars novels. i want them all. there are hundreds and i want them. the movie novelisations and just all the novels about the rise of the jedi order and the high republic and just. it all. and i’ll decorate the shelves with my action figures and lego helmets and funkos (cad bane stays in the pc case. sorry cad). and have my DISO grail of grail lego sets the venator class cruiser.

Anyone got recs for ereaders?

My Nook is ancient and its software isn't supported anymore, so I can't connect it to my library to borrow ebooks. I want to avoid Kindles if I can because I don't want to be tied to Amazon and all their strings. I see good things about Kobo? I don't need or want any extra bells or whistles - just a little tablet dedicated to reading books.

#my nook is fine for reading epubs that i manually put on it #but i would really love to be able to get library books that's my main goal in upgrading #i've done a little research and the kobo clara color looks like it might fit my wants and needs #and i do like that it offers color - my nook has a color screen and i do like it for covers #but would love if anyone has recs or opinions #rip to my nook but it's like over a decade old lol #sharkneto speaks

why do so many ereaders advertise their bright screens. i thought the whole appeal of an ereader as opposed to using a phone or tablet was that it was gentler on the eyes than other screens in your life

#my old nook was a lot like just looking at a page #idk why i'd want anything else. like #i just want a device thats small. maybe very minor backlight for night reading #i like the idea of physical buttons for page turning so i can lay in one spot and lot move a lot to advance the book #anyway. i dont know if i can justify even asking for it for christmas #since i truly am not an ebook reader i like having a physical book in my hands #but i do like the idea of it also being a fic repository #and i do have seanan macguire ebooks i got in a humble bundle that i'd like ot read #oh and i think stuff by neil gaiman #so. idk.

this is most likely a hot take but

the constant freaking out any time AO3 is down is actually really annoying. i get that it's inconvenient and panic-inducing if it isn't from the site doing maintenance but the amount of people i see making this into their entire personality sure is something.

friends, make it a habit to download your favorites and WIPs if you read them. back them up. download calibre or some other similar program, or even upload them to your ereaders. it causes so much less stress for when the sites go down, i promise.

#if it's another DDOS attack or something malicious then yeah i'll be as upset as anyone else #but like...i'm tired of the flood of 'omg what am i gonna do with my life now' posts/comments every time this happens #it stopped being funny ages ago #fanfic/fandom always finds a way #leigh speaks #this post isn't aimed at anyone in particular btw it's just my two cents. i know i sound like a grinch but i feel this had to be said #i have all my classic favorite fics on my nook and it's really nice knowing i can read them whenever i want #i even have all my own works on there just to have an epub of it in case AO3 ever does go dark for good

All I want is a little house that is big enough for me to have a sewing room so that I can just. Work at my museum during the day then spend the evenings cooking and the weekends sewing. Tend to my silly little house plants. Maybe get married and be the femme housewife I’ve been yearning to be and share it all with my wife but maybe also never get married and that would be okay too. Because I would have my little house and my sewing room and my plants. And some nice birds that I befriend in my nice little tiny garden.

Nook: Google no longer supports me! You can't get the Libby App! Only offered solution is to buy a new Nook! :)
