I'm gonna try to write out what I think? The plot is for bee and puppycat, because as much as I love it, it is a bit of a fever dream.

So the space outlaw and Violet went to school together as children, and when their teacher was being a bitch they decided to run away, got a ship, and became candy(?) Collectors. Kinda unclear what candy is but from what I can tell they're like pure energy bounty hunters. Anyway SOMEHOW they get find a kid. Later space outlaw falls in love with a princess but is tricked and is turned into puppycat. He and his space crew run away but are still being hunted by the warlocks. Unclear what happened to the princess. Later they land on earth and for some reason decided to stay for a bit, its sorta implied they crashed? Anyway the kid from earlier is now an adult and repairs the ship. I dont remember if we are told his name but he now has a kid. In the flashbacks she (Bee, his daughter) has purple hair like violet and cardamon so maybe violets her mom? Thatd be kinda weird tho since violet raised her dad. It's also unclear if she was once human and is a robot replica, half human half robot, or always robot and just got different bodies as she got older to simulate growing.

Anyway father somehow gets transported to another dimension. Dont know quite what his deal is but he has a music box where he can fix bee when she gets broke. Puppycat goes??? Somewhere???? And many years go by. Violet has a kid (cardamon) but goes into a sleep. Implied cardamon was also asleep with her but somehow woke up accidentally. More evidence that violet is also bees mom, because bee and cardamon have a brother sister vibe about them.

On another note I didnt realize violet was the mom until she started speaking and I was fucking GOBSMACKED. I had to replay her comforting cardamon several times.

Goncharov and the Butcher’s Cut

So everybody knows there are a bunch of different cuts of Goncharov (1973), but part of the reason discussion of this film can be so confusing is that, okay So, after filming was wrapping up, Scorsese and Matteo JWHJ0715 had a disagreement about what TYPE of film they were making, and they each produced a flurry of different cuts of the film in an effort to convince one another. A lot of these cuts ended up getting distributed around as the “Final Version” of the Film to different regions. For Scorsese, the violence in the film is, just that, Violence. Goncharov feels both empowered and trapped by violence, he is jealous of Andrey’s skill with languages because that means Andrey can be useful to the mafia in a way that doesn’t  require hurting people. Meanwhile, Andrey assumes that Goncharov’s aptitude for violence renders him fearless, and seeks to emulate THAT. The characters are trapped in a world of literal, physical violence.  For Matteo JWHJ0715, The Violence is primarily a stand-in for masculinity, specifically the hyper-masculinity that Goncharov performs whenever he feels physically or emotionally threatened. Goncharov is envious that Andrey is able to communicate comfortably with people without  hiding behind a facade of hypermasculine stoicism (of course, Andrey has his own facades, but that’s the whole point), Andrey envies and seeks to emulate the masculine ideal he sees in Goncharov. Obviously, the different cuts emphasize these different themes based on who was calling the shot. That said, the two takes have a lot of overlap, so you can talk endlessly in circles whether Goncharov’s gun is primarily being literal or metaphorical to determine which version you’re watching, but there’s a handy shortcut you can use. Every cut of the movie has the scene in the train station, where Lo Straniero/Goncharov first arrives in Naples. In Scorsese’s versions of the film, this scene has no audible dialogue until Lo Straniero asks the cigarette seller if the station clock is accurate. We just have the score and inaudible crowd mutterings. In Matteo’s version, There IS dialogue for this scene, the big guy blocking Lo Straniero’s view of the clock is talking to somebody out-of-frame, he’s saying “I hate the smell of blood, but my cousin said he could get me work as a Butcher in Naples”. For Scorsese, this line didn’t add much, so it’s gone, and our first line spoken in Naples is the one about the station clock, which is obviously thematically important. Matteo ALWAYS left that line in, for him it was key to establish that Il Straniero/Goncharov’s experience is not limited to violent criminals, that this random big guy in the train station is going through the exact same thing. So in general, Matteo’s versions of the film are known as “Butcher’s Cuts”, since they include that line. Some people call Scorsese’s versions “Cigarette Cuts”, since the first line is spoken to the cigarette seller, but that’s not common, most people just call them “Scorsese Cuts”
