I’m unregrettably the strawman people make up to prove a stupid regressive talking point. And what if there was a black mixed race, fat, disabled, trans, bigender, non binary possibly some sort of ace, bi, autistic, polyamorous, ADHD sort of guy. Would it be unrealistic? Would it be forced diversity? Would you think of it as a ridiculous concept? I would, even if that’s what I am. It’s silly when you spell it all out like that, when you make a person a list of attributes that way. We’re all more than stuff like this, of course, but we’re also much LESS. Not in a negative way. Less is more. To think of others as just a “person like this” or a “person like that” humanizes them way more—each attribute of identity on a person takes them further from tangible humanity and closer to a conglomerate of buzzwords and talking points, identity and politics, “identity politics”, words that light up in the brains of others with green or red flags. Or beige. Or blue. Who cares. Put more simply I’m just a guy who likes games. Or a guy who likes to draw. Or a guy that’s a funny. Or a guy that’s your coworker. A guy that’s your friend! A guy that’s your boyfriend, a guy you pass in the grocery store, a guy you saw in a mall parking lot. Just a person, simply put.

I think we all can stand to think of people more simply.

But I am also no longer trusting, cause as gullible as I am/was, now I just think everyone’s trying to take advantage of that so I won’t believe a word you say.

I mean - I guess that’s not entirely true (not liking thinking) ‘cause I like thinking about cats. And a world where everyone’s actually nice to each other, and talks things out, and everyone’s reasonable and the only conflicts are because someone put ketchup on something that was not supposed to have ketchup, but it ultimately ends peacefully because everyone understands that just because someone likes something different than you doesn’t make it wrong or dangerous or scary.

But then I get hit with a reality check and I’m back to not liking thinking again.
