Well, my brother has pneumonia, my (roomate) brother's MiL has pneumonia, my dog ran away, and I'm helping a local Walmart attempt to unionize with my ragtag IWW branch that can't even get people to show up to events, let alone meetings. And I'm supposed to go on vacation this week.

However, no one is seriously ill at this point (Brother is at home and MiL is hopefully on her way home), a neighbor found the dog, we're finally getting help from the National GEB with our action, and even if I don't get to go on vacation my mom is here. All in all, everything could be significantly worse. I'm grateful to the universe.

I love how on Tumblr, "media literacy" has become "Um, just because someone writes about this doesn't mean they're endorsing this. I hate all these media puritans ruining everything."

I'm sad to inform you that knowing when and whether an author is endorsing something, implying something, saying something, is also part of media literacy. Knowing when they are doing this and when they're not is part of media literacy. Assuming that no author has ever endorsed a bad thing is how you fall for proper gander. It's not media literacy to always assume that nobody ever has agreed with the morally reprehensible ideas in their work.

Sometimes, authors are endorsing something, and you need to be aware when that happens, and you also need to be aware when you're doing it as an author. All media isn't horny dubcon fanfic where you and the author know it's problematic IRL but you get off to it in the privacy of your brain. Sometimes very smart people can convince you of something that'll hurt others in the real world. Sometimes very dumb people will romanticize something without realizing they're doing it and you'll be caught up in it without realizing that you are.

Being aware of this is also media literacy. Being aware of the narrative tools used to affect your thinking is media literacy. Deciding on your own whether you agree with an author or not is media literacy. Enjoying characters doing bad things and allowing authors to create flawed or cruel characters for the sake of a story is perfectly fine, but it is not the same as being media literate. Being smug about how you never think an author has bad intentions tells me you're edgy, not that you're media literate. You can't use one rule to apply to all media. That's not how media literacy works. Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Aheem heem. Anyway.

I was today years old when I found out that Minecraft skeletons can be right-handed OR left-handed

there's only an 11% chance for the left-handed ones to spawn in but nonetheless, they exist. They've been around since 1.9, back in 2016, and I just never noticed

I know some dickheads have now decided that Judaism is the "bad, violent, terrorist religion" and Islam is the "good, peaceful" one, which is only to be expected of white people, but how much of an issue is it currently? Like I've seen some USAmericans sharing how the Islamic faith shapes Gazans values and perseverance (good) except with that distinct white hippie "I'm about to imprint on this like the world's most racist duck" vibe (bad), but I didn't think they're already turning on Judaism in numbers.

Do they realize that Christianity is also the same kind of comfort to Christian minorities in Asia and Africa? That it was Buddhists that genocided the Rohingyas in Myanmar and Tamils in Sri Lanka? That Hindu fundamentalists are even now trying to ethnically cleanse Muslims in India? How Hindus and Christians are terrorized and persecuted in Pakistan? That Muslims have a history of persecuting and ethnically cleansing Jews too?

Really tired of asking y'all to be normal about people's religions man. There's no religion that's inherently violent or exceptionally peaceful. It's just like any other ideology that becomes a weapon in the hands of ethnic power. Interrogate power, not religion, and respect people's belief systems insofar as they aren't in your business.

Edit: I've amended the "long history" of Muslim persecution of Jews because it might be misleading in the current political climate. Zionism and antisemitic Arab nationalism are twin births resulting directly from Christian colonization, and Islamic empires tended to actually be more tolerant of other religions compared to Christianity, especially Judaism, which was considered a sibling religion. Antisemitism wasn't ideologically entrenched in Islamic tradition. It's simply that ethno-religious power will lead to ethno religious domination and intermittent cleansing of minorities, and Islam is no exception. Humans be humaning always.

Thank you @that-disabled-princess for the tag! I'm zooming through my current cardigan. I was travelling for my little brother's wedding and I had a lot of time on my hands. This cardigan has reminded me of my deep loathing of purl stitches; I'm just so much slower with purling. Then I remembered that I first learned to knit left handed and I can swap between knitting right and left handed to achieve the same outcome as alternating rows of knit and purl. Bonus picture of my snuggly little man that missed me while I was out of town!

In between wedding events, I was able to sneak off to some yarn shops. The black yarn will become a cardigan and the other two will eventually become socks. I also couldn't resist the star stitch markers!

Another highlight of the trip was getting to meet @best--dress for coffee and pastries! It was so much fun to meet another fandom friend in real life!

One thing I find terribly funny about FNAF 6 aka Pizzeria Simulator

Henry is like "My daughter... I will save and free you" and proceeds to first hurt her before actually 'saving her'

For example when he forcibly trapped his daughter, who is already possessing an animatronic, in another robot that he made especially to capture her and make a shock control system that makes it necessary to shock her every time the animatronic give any sign of life even though he knows that the animatronics are possessed.

It's William shocking Circus baby even though he knows Elizabeth is possessing her and Henry doing the same with Charlotte lmaooo
