i dont think key fivers were afraid of sansa of course fandom toxicity ramped up as the season went on and post show but its probably because the show whitewashed a lot of characters and their conflict like tyrion both because they were favourite character by the showrunners and the show wanted generic conflict instead of complexity and many characters and arcs got cut because of it, this turned fandom into thinking key 5 didnt mean "characters who affect the story good or bad depending on point of view" but turned into "the key 5 are heroes that'll save the day against the others and have a happy ending" by season 5/6
sansa was mostly ignored or victim blamed even by book fans before the show exept by a few so i dont know what they really thought her story was gonna be by the end but the show made it worse by not giving her enough nuance even in the early seasons and while diverging her arc pretty badly, it had her in a position of leadership, this pushed the idea in BROAD strokes that might be explained better in the books that her character did matter so i guess it did ruffle some feathers of theorists that didnt think about her all these years and a lot of there theories were proven wrong in the end
I'm telling you it's to exclude Sansa. The whole point is to 'prove' that she's not a main character and won't be involved in the final war(s) of the books. I've seen it with my own eyes.
GRRM himself said he was mostly pulling shit out of his ass with that outline and most people moved on from it once the novelty wore off but a contingent of antis saw it as all the evidence they need that Sansa won't
help free Winterfell from the Boltons
play a part in the fight against the Others
play a part in the war between Aegon vs Daenerys
have a romance with Jon (I don't ship Jonsa but you can't deny that a big part of Key Fiver is the idea that Sansa isn't important enough for a romance with Jon unlike his aunt and other sister
rule the North as Lady of Winterfell or Queen
And I have to disagree, while many people ignored all the signs pointing to Sansa becoming a big player in the game of thrones, they didn't ignore Sansa as a character at all.
I also get where you're coming from but the idea that Jon, Dany and Tyrion (with help from Bran and maaaaaaaaybe Arya - the idea that she'd become some sort of Batman in the Riverlands with her army of wolves was more popular than the idea she'd play a role in fighting the Others which is why D&D chose her specifically to deliver the killing blow) was there before we got the outline. Key Fivers just absorbed it into their DIY lore.

hi, have you heard the rumor that apparently a leaker revealed that mappa permanently shelved ice adolescence? i've seen that someone made a petition for mappa to say something about the movie but honestly i really don't think that's going to do anything :( it kinda makes me wanna cry thinking about how or why the franchise ended up this way, it was HUGE and everyone was so excited for the movie and i just know mappa could still make tons of money if they'd ever release it. i'll never stop loving yuri on ice and its fandom but i just can't help but think it deserved so much better.
I have not seen it and I do not usually believe leaked info like that but it feels believable. We're already in the middle of the year. I really don't believe there's a production going on. My common sense tells me that if there were any type of production we would get some type of promotion; posters, merchandise, VA projects, etc. something major is going on/went on in production that's for sure. It's difficult to understand why such a money making IP would do radio silence like this, to the point hey can't even put together a short manga like in welcome to the madness, or do another Sanrio collab, CD drama? anime café? the fact that we're not getting even those says to me this is canned.
As to why the entirety of YOI seems to be canned and not just Iceado I seriously have no idea, I cannot understand this decision other than this is something to do with it's creators. It would be one thing if yoi ended and that was it, story was over, but to go as far as to say "see you next level" and announce a movie, it's fair to say they had plans for yoi beyond the original 12 eps. YOI was highly successful, best selling anime of 2017, best selling blue ray discs in 2018, bunch of awards, It trended #1 on Tumblr and twitter every Wednesday, when was the last time we've seen something like that happen with other anime? only the biggest of the biggest trend with every episode (aot, jjk, demon slayer, etc) and yoi was pulling those numbers. I stand on my theory that if it were up to Mappa we would be on Yuri on ice season 3 with 2 movies and OVAS by now (7 years later) but this is something to do with Kubo, Sayo and the production team. perhaps they don't want to continue with this project, perhaps they got burnout. But I wanna make a point that I made in the essay I posted some time ago about my suspicions on what happened to YOI. The fact that Yoi was a big money making IP does not guarantee fast input of related media. look at Hideki Anno with EVA: 3.0+1.0, It's a Huge, popular property that makes a lot of money worldwide and still it took 9 years for the final movie to come out! Hideki experienced severe burnout, people who worked closely to him left the production and the whole experience severely delayed the project (this is what I've found on my research) People thought the last EVA movie was canned as well, and this was purely on the basis of the creator because the numbers were there, so the fact that it's taken this long for new YOI content does not mean it's canned forever, but it does appear that the project is in indefinite hold. I, myself am finding peace with this. I've accepted that the project is on hold perhaps forever, perhaps not. But I'm trying to find closure however I can. I do hope we get some kind of announcement though, I do find it kinda impolite to leave the fans in the dark like this.
sorry for the long reply

THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME KNOW, TOO SV5 NONNIE!!!!! Lmk how you've been too bc just the other day asw i was thinking it's been so long since i last talked to you :(
HIHI GRACIE <3
i got logged out of my account for a while so i haven’t actually been able to chat w u, even tho i wanted to :’(
i’ve travelled back to my school unfortunately, and even though my exams are up, my history and law teachers decided to just give us more tests. i’m currently studying for those, but last week i’m telling u some demon must’ve possessed me or some shit bc omd it felt like i had the worst sickness known to man. i’m somewhat better now though, but i’m behind on a lot of my school work, so i won’t be very active these next days/weeks unfortunately 😓 i’ll still check up on u tho !!
also a little f1 rant while i’m already here, it’s only 17 more days till it starts again !! i’m soosososo excited !! did u see the news about lewis going to ferrari? he’s my fav on the current grid, so I’m not really sure how i feel about it. i mean, mercedes hasn’t been treating him as well recently, and they’ve also dropped on their production and car developing. but at the same time, ferrari? nando and seb could both tell u what a horrible idea that is, lewis. i really want him to get his 8th before he retires, but i’m scared he won’t 🙁
anywho !!! what about u ?? how have you been ?? i’ve missed chatting w u, even though i read all of your posts 😁 anything interesting at school or any upcoming projects for us readers u can tell us abt? 👀
Awhhwhwhhh why'd u log out? To cheat on me w an alt or j to recentre your life? respectfully hoping it's the latter
And no litr, everyone ik is really quite sick atm so I'm hoping you get back to good health very very soon because from what I've seen this cold-covid-RAT looks absolutely awful to have. Take care of yo goofy ahh sv5 nonnie, eat your vitamins n minerals and keep healthy
And what's "it"? Like, THE f1? And is F1 like football, like yk, are there European races or is it just worldwide? And are there qualifiers + how do they decide which countries race?
Wait nvm im a fucking idiot i j realised the teams that race are car brands/teams not countries 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Dear God I'm sorry for wasting anyone's time by making u read that, that is honestly embarrassing behaviour on my behalf.
But yeah! My mum said smth ab Hamilton being a driver for Ferarri atm (kinda flew over my head bc i dont rmbr who he drove for initially). And oh, mercedes have been neglecting him? That's good that Lewis is out and into a team that'll treat him better and help him win too.
And 8th what? 8th like, win? If so i hope that too. Well, i don't really know what I hope. All I know is that Stroll is hot and apparently looks as though he's been "freshly fucked into a mattress" (idk i posted a pic ab him and the reblogs still haunt me to this day), Seb's got a nice family and bread baking hobby, fans want to fuck Oscar, Lando and Max, and the rest are a little bit foreign to me
Isn't there a movie coming out (maybe out now tbf) about a racer that was a video game neek but got recruited by Ferrari or another big racing group? Do lmk the name + whether you've seen it + whether it's out + who it's acc based on bc it looks super super super interesting imo
And YAYAYAY nice to see you've still been watching (even if silently)
I'm doing well ty, I've decided it's time to get outta seasonal depression n kickstart loving life again.
I've got a scholar's exam coming up which is gna be hard to get so everyone manifest or pray for me pls, either works...
And in terms of projects, currently I'm doing s'more HC's (AMP eating out and another genre), ATV fluff, ATV threesome oneshot, and a Kinktober-core smut for ChrisMD!!!
Stay in touch SV5 nonnie, it's always acc bare cute talking to u
PEACE N LOVE!!!!

Spicy hot take incoming, of the "They're going to take away my critic's badge for this" variety.
So I recently watched F.D. Signifier's video on anime and I was thinking about some of the things he said about the Isekai genre. Why it's often both attractive and yet shallow all at once; A Power Fantasy more interested in having fun letting characters be powerful than in putting in the effort to earn their power.
This got me to thinking about Isekai stories that I've consumed. I'm a big fan of Digimon Adventure, particularly the first series. Existing before Isekai became such a huge thing, Digimon Adventure played more to the fear and uncertainty of random kids being dragged into this other world and forced to become child soldiers - While still managing to retain a relatively light tone.
But as I was thinking about this, I realized something. One of the best uses of the Isekai concept for storytelling that I've seen... was from a shitty internet comedy webseries made on a $5 budget.
I wouldn't be surprised if you haven't heard of The Legend of Neil. It's a very shallow parody of the first Legend of Zelda game; The kind of parody where the jokes they're using are things like, "LOL Why do we keep leaving items around the dungeon for the hero to use?"
As gaming satire, it's bottom of the barrel. It's crude and vulgar, and there are more than a few elements that haven't aged well, such as aggressively Q-coded villains, a particular character death that seems more mean-spirited than tragic, and multiple references to Harry Potter.
But there's something there, underneath it all, that comes to my mind when I think about Isekais. Because The Legend of Neil, for all of its faults, has something it wants to say. There's a dissertation on masculinity and abuse buried beneath the dick jokes and "LOL Enemies drop healing hearts?"
The main character Neil comes from a comically abusive home life. He suffers endless deluges of abuse from his family, his girlfriend, and the customers at his retail job. And yet for two seasons, his top priority is just getting back there. The game world is different and weird and scary, and it expects a lot from him. And he just wants to go home.
This isn't uncommon fare for the Isekai brand. "Life sucked but now you're here and you're the hero! Go be awesome!" But for Neil, there's something deeper here. First, because it isn't a power fantasy. Neil gets his teeth kicked in constantly. He's frequently outmatched and forced to drag himself to the Faerie, blinking on critical HP and begging for another round of her healing.
Neil is, suprisingly for the Isekai genre, a survivor archetype rather than an Action Hero archetype. He's not actually that powerful. In fact, there are some enemies that are so strong, he never overcomes them.
But also because Neil gets what he wants. At the end of season two and start of season three, Neil gets to go home to his girlfriend that cheats on him, his family that abuses him, and his job that demeans him. And then he gets to make an actual choice about whether or not he's truly happy in this environment. Whether the way he's treated is actually the way he wants to live.
It's here that the Isekai transforms into something... Different. Neil returns to the game world of his own volition. Again, it's not unusual for the protagonist to like the Isekai world better than his shitty life. But the lack of "Neil is powerful!" elements coupled with Neil's own personal agency in choosing the Isekai world makes it something more.
The Legend of Neil uses Isekai, not to tell a Power Fantasy, but to tell a Recovery Fantasy. By choosing the game world, Neil self-actualizes and accepts the responsibility being placed on him there, but he also makes a statement that maybe some people need to hear: "It's okay to burn your bridges, cut your abusers out of your life, and walk away. Even if the future seems uncertain, even if the alternative is scary, it's okay for you to leave. There are better things out there waiting for you to find them."
And so throughout the third season, we see a very different Neil. One who is here because he actually wants to be here. A Neil who opens up to the people around him, rebuilds his relationships with the people in the Isekai world, and puts in actual effort to try and make himself strong enough to face the challenges ahead because this is the life he chose for himself.
...I mean, he never really appreciates the Faerie and that subplot drags down the whole show. It's. It's still not great.
But the point is, in an ocean of "My life sucked but now it's great because I'm in an Isekai" stories, this vulgar, low-budget webseries was using that framework to actually sit down and talk about topics of abuse, rather than slapping on an Unearned Power Fantasy and calling it a day.
And I think a lot of Isekai writers could learn from that.

Oh boy, its thinking time again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though this time, I'm thinking about Mainline Dante and the "Black Sheep" for most fans, DmC Dante. Personally, I don't mind him and he grew on me in some cases. As much of a mess DmC is, playing through it recently after several years....I've seen crumbs of what could've been better than what we were given.
Of course, there's other things about the game that fairly rubs off on hardcore fans and I'm not gonna excuse the bad parts...[ahem] but there's things I like. The world building, parts of the lore....what they were trying to do with Dante as a character in the world setting...alas, I'll probably go on a talk about that stuff another time.
On topic of what I was going to talk about though. I was thinking back on the common reception of DmC and the fanarts of Main Dante beating the shit out of DmC Dante and I got to thinking...what if they actually DID meet each other? Would they respond similarly to these fan vent interpretations accordingly to their characters?
The answer, I think, would be a yes.
Not in the violent and aggressive "I hate you immediately" way, though. For this, I'm going to use DMC5 Dante for Main Dante, for the sake of how I've proccessed this inner question for myself.
For those who've played DmC and know of that Dante (and have paid attention to the story despite the icks), we know he's a fighter. He's been raised in the world that way due to his tragic and shitty upbringing. Same with him having anger issues amongst other things. He shares the impulsive nature Dante used to have back in Pre-DMC1 and DMC3, but cranked up abit.
He'd likely see Main Dante and purposely try to start shit cause he is a little shit like that. He's a teenager who's been through so much shit that he does not meld with people at all at first. He hates authority, is full of spite...yeeeeah....
I think Main Dante would entertain him and be willing to throw down with him because hell, man also loves a good fight and knowing this kid is another version of him? He'd be all over that to see just what the kid's made of.
Though I'd take this fight as Main Dante also trying to help the kid let off some steam, similar to how he handled Nero back in DMC4 when he was steamed and keen to rescue Kyrie and helped him regain a cool head before continuing on his quest.
Tumblr media
The big difference between Nero and DmC Dante though, is that DmC Dante has even BIGGER anger issues. He's more violent. More spiteful. Fueled by how much worse he had it growing up. Had to watch his mother's heart get ripped out by Mundus, got seperated from his twin brother and had his memory sealed away....then he also had to deal with being in an orphanage ran by demons, in several foster homes and correction facilities (also, no surprise, ran by demons) so he went through alot of abuse growing up. Its how he knows the usual procedure of being detained and tries to give Kat advice as she's being arrested later on in the game.
He spent his entire life basically having to fight for it with no other choice.
Tumblr media
As much of an edgy mess DmC is, it had so much messed up backstory for Dante himself...like aside from all the painfully forced edge of the setting most of the time....I can appreciate what they've molded in the cracks for the setting. Its fucked because the world he's in is fucked.
Anyway. Main Dante would probably let him get so much venting out through fighting, maybe try and try and help him work out his issues. Especially if this is seasoned DMC5 Dante. He's done it with Nero, he would do it again. It'd take alot and I mean ALOT of time I'd feel and I think Main Dante would even snap at DmC Dante over a few things, buuuut....I also feel like it'd eventually simmer down to a mutual understanding. Hell, Main Dante would likely see abit of his Pre-DMC1 and DMC3 selves in him. Kid's just abit more messed up and would need things drilled in more, but it IS stated that DmC Dante has a big heart buried beneath all that he displays. Hell, he shows it a few times in the game. He has a few moments.
I won't try and change minds on how people see him because I know DmC is a touchy subject for most hardcore fans and I get it, but you know. Personally, with it being an alternate reality at this point now that's still recognized by Capcom officially, I see it as harmless nowadays. We got mainline DMC swinging back, so its pretty much just there, haha.
I won't go into powerscaling (because that's a whole other beast of a rabbit hole I don't wanna poke into yet, even if I do think our Mainline Dante would win...the details of it will be thoughts for another time), but considering the circumstances of their characters and how situational it may be.....its just a thought. I dunno, the braincells just decided to think about this topic tonight, lmao.

How do you feel as a CielDoll shipper with recent chapters
this just reminded me that a new chapter is out and i just read it and i'm in the brain dimension. throwing this ask under a readmore bc it got long but it basically just sums up my opinions on the series as a whole rn:
my feelings on kuroshit have been complicated the past few years ngl! more than anything i'm very frustrated with how the story's been paced since the twin reveal, and i've found it very hard to stay engaged as a fan with how slow things are progressing. but that's also not what you asked so i won't rant about that LOL
I have very mixed feelings on this current arc - it's what finally got me back into reading bc DOLL! MY FAVORITE CHARACTER EVER! IS HERE AND I WAS RIGHT THAT SHE'D BE RELEVANT AGAIN!!! I'd really, really like it if Doll lives past this arc and is able to confront Ciel again. I think I might actually drop the series entirely if she dies here because it feels very pointless to me after all these years to bring her back if her whole point was just to [207 spoilers]. I'm really interested to see Ciel's reaction to her rebirth, esp if after coming clean about his true identity that he's able to be honest about the guilt he harbors over killing her. (SINCE YANA PUT DOLL AND JOKER IN THE SAME PANEL AS MADAM RED, CIELS PARENTS, AND R!CIEL IN CH 100, OVER 70 CHAPTERS AFTER NOAHS CIRCUS, ID GO CRAZY IF IT DIDNT MEAN ANYTHING)
I've always seen Doll as being one of if not the most significant character into understanding Ciel - his sympathy for her in Noah's Arc shows that despite how emphatic he is that he's forgone his soul, he does still care about people underneath it all. I'm pretty sure Yana's even said that if circumstances had been different (plot wise and also wealth wise), they could have been really good friends. I think Doll as a foil for Ciel reveals a lot about him - the biggest being her double-identity and reveal, as well as her playful, childish side vs. her cold, killing side (which even then, Doll doesn't want to kill - she just has to. I think deep down, Ciel is the same way). Same with Doll discovering Ciel's brand and having that empathetic moment with him over it, they don't go too deeply on it but Doll's backstory prior to living on the street is that she was abused by her parents and they scarred her face. She knows better than anyone else in the story what that permanent mark of abuse means for Ciel, and that's why she's so sorry she accidentally exposed his brand.
I've never shipped Doll/Ciel in a "canon" sense (like it just wouldn't make that much sense post-doll's "death", she despises him for killing her family, and after knowing what the circus did, she's nothing but a child kidnapper to him, criminal scum that's not worth anything). Their dynamic to me is so much about the "what if things had gone differently?" - which I also apply to Ciel's other friendships, particularly with Soma, Lizzy, and Alois (though season 2 is it's whole own discussion LOL). So much of Ciel's characater arc is about how he was willing to throw his own life and soul away thinking he had nothing after his parent's and r!ciel's deaths, as well as his own disgrace, but kuroshitsuji has shown us time and time again that there are people who deeply love and care about ciel, and if things had been different, if he hadn't sold his soul to the literal devil, he could have lived for them. i love Doll for him in this regard, because she's someone who doesn't know what happened to him. I think a big crux to Ciel's relationship with Lizzy (ignoring the incest aspect because of the period accuracy, but also because of the incest aspect I obviously do not ship them in a romantic sense) is that she knows more than most people about what happened to Ciel and his family, and that humiliates him. Pity and vulnerability humiliate him. This is a huge reason why he can't be honest with Lizzy about what happened - he doesn't want her pity, it only makes his reality that much worse. When he meets Doll, she's a stranger. And despite knowing nothing about him, she worms her way in and tries at every angle to befriend him. Also, given that his betrothal to Lizzy was by force (esp with how he steals her actual fiancees identity lol), I think if Ciel had been able to choose his own partner, he might have chosen someone like Doll.
ANYWAY - that's why I'll be really disappointed if they don't reunite at some point. I have some vague hope, since this is the last of the servant's arcs, maybe we'll get back to Ciel soon and Doll will get the confrontation she deserves. I actually really wasn't expecting [207 spoiler], that changes a lot for the character dynamics in this arc. I unfortunately haven't been a huge fan of Doll's actions in this arc, it feels horrifically out of character for me to believe that after her moral values are laid explicitly clear in circus arc (she feels guilty for kidnapping children and doesnt want to do it, but fears her older siblings retribution and fears Kelvin and feels an obligation to keep her family safe above all else), that she'd be willing to both make connections with the children at this orphanage as well as let them be used to keep her body alive... for what? To kill Ciel? Obviously she was brought back by Undertaker, but I doubt that Undertaker's true intentions are to kill Ciel, given how important the Phantomhives are to him (I think he's probably way more after Sebastian, but that's another thing entirely). So, why did Undertaker bring her back at all? Why is it Snake and Finny that find her, and not Ciel? Her personality once Snake and Finny discover the truth too is just all over the place, I don't particularly buy it.
I've felt that Yana's writing has seemed rushed and lazy since the twin reveal, whether it's her shifting her focus onto TWST, or that she's just trying to wrap up the series as fast as she can, while also still attempting to churn out monthly chapters (if you compare recent kuroshit volumes to old ones, old volumes had maybe 4-5 chapters, while new ones fit about 10 chapters at the same pagecount, so it's also waaay shorter chapters each month that don't quite move the story along). It's obvious to me that now that R!Ciel is out of the bag, the servant chapters have been a way for Yana to finally write plotpoints that she's had on the backburner since early on in the series (Meyrin, Bard, and Snake's backstories) - but IMO, terribly integrated. Finnys backstory in witch-arc is still some of my favorite parts of the series - because the arc itself is incredibly written, and Finny being highlighted fit in so well. It feels like with these mini arcs that Yana's just like oh shit what kind of plot should X servant's backstory come up in, and none of the newer plots/characters have felt deserved (i.e. the maids in meyrin/ran mao's story). Same thing goes for the characters in this arc, the children dressed like the phantomhive servants are just so weird and out of place to me. Why is this a thing??? An orphanage dedicated to making children act like ciel and sebastian and others and then sacrificing them as blood for Doll????? Why???? The whole scenario is weak and far-fetched IMO, I would've rather Doll's reentry (as well as Meyrin/Bard/Snakes backstories) been introduced in a more natural way, it genuinely feels like Yana is throwing all her cards on the table to wrap the series up without any loose strings.
SO, I don't have like, a TON of hope for Ciel and Doll's story to be wrapped up in a way I personally find satisfying for their character arcs, I'm vaguely hopeful that they'll at least just meet again, but as you can read I've had very mixed feelings on the direction that the series has taken for years now (servant backstory arc has been going on since MARCH 2019 LMAO..), so I'm sorry that your very simple question turned into a rant HAHA but this is like, the crux of my relationship with Kuroshitsuji atm.
Kuroshit has had its fair share of problems, many of which I'll be the first person to go out of my way to critique. I've been able to rationalize being a fan by touting just how good the manga's story is. Nowadays, really not so sure I can stand by that opinion! However, Doll's also like... is The character of all time for me. I've even been contemplating getting her tattooed lately LOL. So, regardless of the direction the series takes, even if it just absolutely tanks, she'll always remain incredibly special to me, as will Ciel and all the characters I've loved over the years.

Did you have any criticisms with the lastest episode of Murder Drones? Honestly I absolutely loved and enjoyed it and liked it more than the last episode, it was a little too fast paced and some things could've been handled better, but I enjoyed it! 💛🙂 But I've seen some fans and others state that this could be the turning point for the show and not in a good way, I've seen fans state that this is either is weakest and worst episode of the show or being disappointed by it, or even see it as the show going downhill and losing it's potential, I've also seen some point out how the show continues to ruin intense and serious moments with comedy which turned people away from this episode and even saw it as misleading, since the thumbnail and teaser images hinted at EP 5 being the darkest and even a turning point for the show, but while it was dark..it still seemed to suffer through the criticism some have had with the show lately, causing people to turn away. :(
Another thing I've seen people mentioned is how the show continues to throw more mysteries into the mix which leads to very little answers to the ones we already have and some that still need to be talked about and that's understandable, I think that's a reasonable and valid criticism. I mean, we only have about 3 episodes left for the season and I'm a little worried about how the show will end things and how little we'll end up finding out about the lore! But, I wanted to ask do you see the show going downhill and would you agree with some of the things some fans said and do you see yourself losing interest for the show in the future because of how the show's been handled lately? I'm honestly worried about the show's future and how things might not be improved on, (I'm not sure if Liam listens to any criticisms he's probably got for the show, btw) which'll drive people away more and bash the show even more, I mean some already said they didn't think EP 5 would be good and thought it would be shit before it even came out, lol.
Although MD is flawed and isn't perfect, I'm still very much in love with the show and it's honestly a comfort show for me, it's one of my favorite shows, tbh. But, I do honestly wanna see things get better and be improved on and I would like to see some of the issues others have had with the show be improved on as time goes on, but I'm worried certain things will probably drive more people away more. You know what I'm saying?
(Sorry for this answer being all messy and all over the place and just very long, LOL. XD)
Honestly, im not loosing interest and im not scared about the show's future at all, episode 5 was perfect for me.
I understand other's people concern, but i think the reason why so many get desapointed Its because they put way too much expectations over It, Liam has a very unique story telling style that may weird people out If theyre not used to It so is not for everyone, but i dont think thats a reason to think the show is losing Its quality.
And Liam knows how to write serious episodes with less comedy (episode 2 and 3 are a big proof of that) if episode 4 and 5 were goofy Its because he wanted It to be, not because he doesn't have the skills to make "serious" moments . Im sure when the right times come everything will make sense and Liam will give us one of the most gut wrenching episodes yet.
Also, maybe its just me, but i think the reason why ep 4-5 were more focused on comedy is because the future episodes are going to be way serious and more heavy emotionally, so i think Laim wanted to make goofy episodes while he can lmfaooo

In the decade I've been following hockey, I am still struggling with how to avoid overreacting to a hockey team's October (or November!) record. Feel like I should know better since we've got hot and cold starts come and go through the years, but I don't know if there are others here who have the same struggle as a hockey fan.
allow me to introduce you to the entirety of the pittsburgh penguins fanbase, lmao.
i mean, honestly, i react badly to ALL losses. we could be 81-0 and absolutely shit the bed the last game of the season and my immediate reaction would be the absolute doomiest gloomiest 'it's all over' nonsense you've ever seen. it's natural! you like a team, you want them to win! even in games you know it's a long shot you watch because you're hoping for a win, that's the whole point. disappointment and drawing insane far-reaching conclusions is part of it all!
the trick is, let yourself have the big disappointment and anger, and then force yourself into rationality. after some games it takes longer than others, but if you're having a hard time absolutely just turn off twitter and reddit and go play a smooth-brain game like blockudoku or something (thank u @austronauts for introducing me to that one) until you've stopped thinking about it. it's not easy sometimes! the point of sports is to get you emotionally invested, so never feel like you're doing it wrong if you react in an emotional way—that's the point! you just can't turn it into something that drags you down for a long time after, or project it out at others and dump misery and doom into their laps and expect them to fix it for you (to be clear anon you are not doing this even a little bit!!! but i think we all know what i'm referring to).
and yeah with this dumb stupid team we really should know better by now. alas!!!!!!!!!!! one season they'll go 82-0 (and then 16-0) to reward us for all the years of nonsense, i swear.

My thoughts on episode 8
SPOILERS for season 3, episode 8 of the Animaniacs reboot
Ah, time to watch another episode of Animaniacs, an episode I have definitely never seen before and definitely have not had an entire emotional breakdown over. The previews for this one got me hyped. I can't wait to see that 3D animation!
On a serious note, if you're a big fan of this episode, you probably shouldn't read this review. I'll try to avoid retreading ground I've already covered, and I'll try to keep my criticism reasonable and logical so hopefully everyone can at least see my side of things, even if you don't ultimately agree.
The episode starts off with the worst dialogue exchange ever written into Animaniacs.
Tumblr media
It's just as shocking and painful to watch now as it was the first time. Wakko's expression here will haunt me and bring back bad memories for years to come.
This exchange is just such an impressively perfect storm of awfulness. If you changed any one thing about it, it wouldn't be so historically atrocious. It would still be bad, but not "makes me question my Animaniacs fandom" bad. What really sends it over the top for me is how Dot reacts to Wakko coming back and being alive. If she and Yakko simply greeted him cheerfully, it would be made super clear that it was entirely a joke and they were only messing around. I'd still hate it. I just wouldn't need to write a fic to cover it up. Instead, there's just no payoff. It's played straight until the end, when Dot is actually disappointed that her brother isn't actually dead. It's so unnecessarily overbearing. I know the entire thing is supposed to be sarcasm, but like... where's the joke? What's supposed to be funny about it? Haha, we don't value our brother and would be better off without him, but we don't actually mean it! Oh no, he's not actually dead, but I'm only being sarcastically disappointed over it. You can laugh now.
You know, I actually take it back. Dot's disappointment didn't really seem sarcastic at all. It just felt mean-spirited, straight up.
They had to realize something was wrong here. They specifically made it so Wakko didn't hear or react to what his siblings were saying. At least subconsciously, they knew that if Wakko heard it, the cruelty of the whole thing would be amplified tenfold. And it was already pretty damn amplified. Wakko not hearing it doesn't make this moment any better for the characters of Yakko and Dot.
I think these Warners are the real alien imposters, not the ones we saw in episode 6. They're implanted by aliens or the studio to make poor Wakko think he isn't loved.
It's pretty funny to hear the Warners say "Jackass Monkey" so casually.
Tumblr media
No, Yakko, you are not technically a boomer. Baby boomers were born from 1946 to 1964. You were born in 1929, making you a member of the Silent Generation. (Ironic, isn't it?) Also, it doesn't even make a difference, since Wakko is the same age as you by that logic, and he clearly loves video games. Hey, you were the one who wanted to be technical about it.
Tumblr media
Lore item: I believe this is our first confirmation ever that the Warners have red blood flowing through their veins, and not just ink or nothing. So, if they bled, they would canonically bleed red. Just a thought for all you angsty fan creators out there...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They also have real, organic organs and are not just inky blobs all the way through.
I thought the easter eggs were cool. Some folks probably didn't like them because they felt like teases for segments we never really got in the reboot, but I was fine with it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Slappy still in the process of giving Chicken Boo that beating two seasons later.
I thought the 3D animation looked really nice. I was genuinely super excited to see it before the episode came out, and I hoped that the main thing I'd be doing was pausing to admire the animation. Other things overshadowed that, unfortunately.
Tumblr media
On their own, the Wakko smells jokes would be fine. It's the kind of teasing that's in-bounds for the Warners, and this isn't the first time they've made fun of such a thing. Combined with what happened earlier, though, it just feels like the Wakko abuse keeps piling up. It feels like someone writing the episode randomly decided to choose Wakko as a target to pick on for the entire episode, and by proxy that makes it feel like Yakko and Dot randomly decided to choose Wakko as a target to pick on for the entire episode. It makes them feel like bullies. It's the total opposite of how their dynamic should be- take a few innocent jabs at your siblings, sure, but 99% of the harsh teasing should be directed outside of the group.
Tumblr media
On a positive note, Wakko sticking his tongue out in 3D is really cute.
"Warner Brothers has STANDARDS! Well, not artistic standards, obviously."
Tumblr media
Obviously...
Now, I said before that Yakko's apology to Wakko was a flimsy cop out, but I never went into detail on why I felt that way.
Let me be clear. If you removed the dialogue at the beginning at the episode, Yakko's apology would be a great sibling moment. I mean, reboot Yakko actually verbally expressing that he cares about Wakko? I'd be freaking out in a positive way. If it only happened after a couple jokes about Wakko's scent, it would be good.
However, taking into account everything that's happened, how Wakko has been a target to ruthlessly pick on since the instant the episode first started, the apology feels condescending and insincere to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If we got to the point that sweet, oblivious Wakko actually felt the need to call out his older brother, who he idolizes, over always picking on him, you know it's already pretty bad. He even points out one of the primary issues with it- Yakko is punching down when he makes fun of Wakko. Wakko is his little sibling who he's supposed to protect and support.
Yakko then responds with the same logic a schoolyard bully uses. "Come on, can't you take a joke?" The bully says, after making a target out of this one kid for the entire schoolyear. You might call it an overreaction to compare Yakko to a bully here. For one, I'm only using an example to show why this moment doesn't hit for me. Secondly, at least I had the sense to edit out the lines where I compared him to an abuser. Thirdly, I agree. It's a tragedy that I'm comparing Yakko to a bully right now. Wakko spoke up to try to defend himself against his siblings, and Yakko's response wasn't to genuinely apologize and promise to stop doing it- it was to justify his behavior and dig in deeper. Sibling teasing is sibling teasing, but if your family member who you love has to actually come up to you and tell you point blank that it's going too far, and you refuse to see the error of your ways, that's when it's really gone too far.
The last reason this is a flimsy apology- if this is how you express your love for Wakko, because picking on him is easier than saying you care, then why don't you do the same to Dot? There's still clearly favoritism being shown here towards one sibling, which is awful. Also, it's not how you show your affection. We've seen how Yakko shows affection. We've seen it explicitly, and it's nothing like this. Go watch Wakko's Wish if you don't know what I'm talking about.
I at least appreciate that they always kept the Warners as one unit and didn't ever have them fight each other.
Tumblr media
I did find the echoed "d'ah"s to be funny, even as I was watching this the first time with my soul being ripped in two.
Tumblr media
I didn't watch Starbox and Cindy the first time around, so as far as I'm concerned this is the entire new episode for me this time. I thought it was clever how they had a battle over lights in a child's room. I thought it was sad how Starbox has been Stockholm Syndromed into loving the self-admitted scary monster.
Tumblr media
Through 8 episodes, there have been as many Starbox and Cindy segments as there have been Warner songs.
I feel like the Gold Warners had more potential than this. The concept of alternate copies of the Warners for the Warners to battle is interesting, but the problem is that these copies are nothing like the regular Warners. They don't talk, so you can't actually have an interesting battle of personalities that would naturally make up a Warner vs. Warner fight.
Tumblr media
Wakko defending Dot is a GOLDEN sibling moment. But... you know what I'm about to say. I would freak out and cherish this moment forever in almost any other context. In the context it's been given, it only makes me kind of sad. Because Wakko still has a heart of gold, Wakko still stays loyal and true to his siblings, even when they have thoroughly proven they don't deserve it. And even when Wakko steps up to defend his siblings, and ends up being the one to save the day and show them how to get out of there, they don't even mention it afterwards. They don't apologize for how they treated him. They don't thank him for saving them. If there was only some kind of payoff at the very end, it would be at least a little palatable. There just isn't. Wakko is the only Warner who comes out of this episode looking like a good sibling. It just gives me the image of my mind of Yakko and Dot as bullies to their innocent brother who loves them unconditionally despite everything they've done to him, which is not even close to how the Warners should be in reality or how they're portrayed in any other episode.
Just Ralph being a better friend to Wakko than his own siblings in this episode:
Tumblr media
I guess I should briefly talk about the video game characters in this episode.
Tumblr media
Honestly, the best part about them was their names and character designs.
In this episode, Wakko:
-Heard his sister celebrating his death
-Still happily interacted with his sibs immediately after and got them into something that makes him happy
-Sat around and took care of the tower by himself for six months while his sibs played his favorite video game, not even playing with them or being able to talk to them at all
-After Yakko and Dot came back to consciousness, Yakko immediately physically fought with him over the privilege of being player 1
-Got a lame special move compared to his siblings
-Got his smell constantly made fun of by his own siblings
-Had to call Yakko out over it and got a paper-thin "apology" as a response
-Defends his sister, despite everything, by hurting himself. This is the second time in the episode he's gotten smashed by his own mallet.
-Fights with Ralph over the remote as soon as he gets out so he can save his siblings from the game
-Does not even get a hug or a smile from his siblings once they're out due to his heroics. At least, not one we were shown.
This episode is frustrating. There's so much good about it. The animation is so cool. There are funny jokes. There are multiple great sibling moments on a level above anything else we've explicitly seen in the reboot. If only that first minute was cut completely, I would consider this a great episode. It wasn't cut, unfortunately, and it drags everything else down with it. Doesn't it almost feel like the writers of this episode put in a bunch of wholesome sibling moments, realized they didn't want to give us that much, and decided to "balance it out" with all that awfulness? If that is the case, I hate it even more. They simply don't understand what we want from these characters. Is it fair to say an entire episode is bad because of one horrible dialogue at the very start? Honestly, I don't really care. That dialogue doesn't just drag down this episode. It drags down the season, the reboot, and my entire Animaniacs fandom. I can't help how I feel.
I don't think, even after everything I've said, that you guys understand the true depth of the effect this episode has had on me. When I was first spoiled over the infamous lines, I was at a point where I was feeling more passionate over Animaniacs and writing than I had since I first started all of this. I had just finished reading a fic, Don't You Forget About Me, that destroyed me in the good, angsty kind of way. That fic is about the Warners being magically made to forget about one another. It tore me apart to read about their relationships being destroyed so easily in the fic, to see them turned against each other. When I read that spoiler, back in early January, it was like it had all come true. What meaning does it have to read about them forgetting about each other when they apparently never had much care for each other in the first place? All the deep feelings I was feeling over that fic completely disappeared, in literally an instant. I went back to read it, and I felt nothing. (Through no fault of the fic- it's still really great.) At the time, I had an angsty one shot in the works, I was getting progress on so many fics at once. Reading that spoiler killed all that passion in an instant. Put simply, if this dialogue never existed, you would have gotten about 4-5 more fanfic releases from me over the past month than you actually got. I've barely touched any of those WIPs since.
Despite all the good, I can't ever forgive this episode for what it did to me. It has been super touching to feel all the love from the fandom after I expressed my emotions over this episode. It's nice to know we're in the same boat. Even after all of that, even with all the good in this episode, if I had the option to erase it from existence completely, to make it as if it never happened, would I do it?
Yes. In a heartbeat. I'm still not sure if my fandom will recover from what this episode did to me.
If you're a defender of that dialogue, I want you to know that I respect your opinion. I also want you to know that we're simply not on the same wavelength when it comes to how we view this show and its characters. Could those lines be classified as just harmless sibling banter? Maybe in your sibling relationship, but not in mine. It's been a little insulting to me to see the few out there who have claimed that only those without siblings would take issue over these lines. I've watched 133 episodes of Animaniacs and one movie. I've dedicated half my life to this show. I can tell you that what the Warners did here is not even close to in-character for them. To me, it truly feels like Yakko and Dot were replaced by unfeeling aliens for an episode.
Was this the least entertaining episode of Animaniacs ever? Far from it. If you showed this season to someone off the street who's never seen Animaniacs, they almost certainly wouldn't rank this episode as the worst of all of them. They'd probably rank it as one of the best. 90% of it is good, after all. 5% of it is mindblowingly bad. If someone who hasn't watched Animaniacs before saw this episode and only this episode, what impression would they get of the sibling relationship between Yakko, Wakko, and Dot? To me, they'd come off as bullies to the one true-hearted member of the group, Wakko, and that's heartbreaking to think about. So, while I gave it some thought, I can't do it. I can't rank this episode anywhere other than last. I hope to God that it stays there.
My current ranking of season 3 episodes:
Episode 6
Episode 3
Episode 7
Episode 4
Episode 2
Episode 1
Episode 5
Episode 8
Feel free to add to the never-ending discussion over this episode if you want, but don't say anything about any of the episodes that come after. They're all I have left to look forward to.

I'm in an OSMU mood so here's a few questions
Favorite/least favorite member of the mobile unit? Osmeralda counts too
Should they have removed Millie from season 3.5? Followup question: should Orpita have gotten promoted?
Thoughts on The Shadow/Olizabeth?
Last one: Should Brutus have gotten a better arc (there IS a correct answer here)
That's all! Hope you have a good day
Favorite member of the Mobile Unit: I have a soft spot for Orla just because she's an original character with original traits. Her story arc aside because her story arc was trash on top of trash.
Least favorite: Weeeeeell if Osmerelda counts, then her. She's an audience surrogate for the sake of having an audience surrogate because kids can't have 100+ episodes stuffed in their tiny growing brains. She's bearable, though. I've seen worse characters.
On removing Millie Davis from the second half: I feel like Millie had enough firepower in her to keep going for the rest of the season if it got pumped out that fast. She didn't have to be in every episode, but at least a few more would have sufficed (up to and including the three-part finale).
On Orpita being promoted: Abso-fuckin'-LUTELY not, thank you. When I read the casting call for the Little O as a character I thought they would cast someone totally new for the role, but instead they brought back Shazdeh Kapadia as Orpita because...well, the way I see it, they had very little money. Her character development was just a tad too sudden, it's never even explained how she got to be an assistant of the Big O or why (I don't care if she got a spotlight episode, for however meta the show is that is NOT an excuse TYVM) and since she never finished the assignment she had in "It's Not Easy Being Chill" THEN WHAT THE FUCK WAS THE POINT OF THE EPISODE. HOW DO YOU FUCK UP AN ASSIGNMENT THAT SIMPLE. IF SHE FUCKS UP SIMPLE ASSIGNMENTS HOW'D SHE EVEN GRADUATE.
Thoughts on The Shadow/Olizabeth: As a character, she's okay. I kinda dig her being Opal's younger sister because it's a pretty unique twist on the kid villains of the before times. Her villain alias is very cleverly named and I applaud the writers for taking that double meaning and RUNNING with it. And of course, you can't get any more sadistic for your first stint as an Odd Squad villain than attempted vehicular murder on four minors (and I don't care HOW hard the writers try to cover it up for S&P by claiming she only wants to hurt the van, I spit THE TRUTH). But the resolution to her arc was very weak and I'm not really a fan with it. Maybe it's because I'm an only child and I can't relate to the strife, I dunno.
Should Brutus have gotten a better arc?: Tenfold. 100%. All the yes. Never have I seen a piece of kids media take the henchman concept of villainy and fuck it up so badly. When S3.5 news broke I was willing to bet on Osias Reid coming back and reprising his role as Brutus, but as the months went on, I realized that wasn't going to happen. They went, gave us something, and then proceeded to give us nothing. Brutus should 100% have gotten better -- if not a few appearances in the second half of Season 3, then a proper resolution to his arc in the mid-season finale.

On Forgiveness, Jamie, and Ted Lasso
I've been seeing a lot of discourse about Ted telling Jamie to forgive his father and I've got complicated thoughts about it too, but I'm starting to see something I've seen in lots of fandoms which is that what starts as a reasonable critique of something spirals into something that seems to have lost all perspective. Ted's not perfect and he's not supposed to be but if I see one more "Ted condones abuse" take I'm going to lose my mind. Totally legit to hate Ted's advice, but I just wanted to throw in my thoughts:
The whole "forgiveness isn't giving the person who wronged you a favor, forgiveness is for yourself" advice is extremely common - it's a classic trope. I spent a long time puzzling over it back when I was a kid (when it was a classic after-school-special kind of advice) because it didn't seem to match up to my definition of what "forgiveness" means to me, but bottom line is: when people give that advice what they're saying is: let go of the anger. Stop carrying all that anger or hurt or resentment around if it's no longer serving you. When you're in a shitty situation, you need those things to get you through. Anger, fueling you, hurt, making you try to shield yourself, resentment, helping you either cut someone off or build up a sort of emotional callus to them. And when someone's hurt you deeply, you'll carry those with you for a while. If you (metaphorically) press on an emotional bruise and you still wince, you're not over it yet. But Jamie's whole crisis is that he felt nothing anymore when he reached for that old hurt to turn into a kind of anger that'll fuel him. When those feelings aren't serving you anymore and you find yourself still carrying that resentment around, you should let it go or, as the common wisdom goes, forgive them.
That's very obviously what Ted is saying in that scene: "if anger at your pops ain't motivating you like it used to, it might be time to try something else. Just forgive him." That advice doesn't men "you should definitely let your abusive father back into your life" and I've always been frustrated by how TV (this show included) blurs that line. He's just saying "stop carrying around that resentment if it's not serving you anymore." And sure enough, when he's no longer hearing his hateful dad in the voices of all of those Man City fans, he can take their jeers as a challenge accepted and go back to being the prickiest prick he's ever been in his little prick life. So, unpopular opinion: there's nothing wrong with Ted's advice.
BUT
Letting go of the resentment doesn't necessarily have to mean letting them back in your life, and I was disappointed that the show had Jamie reaching out to his dad without even knowing he was taking steps to get his shit sorted out. That sort of made it a parallel to Nate - but Nate actually earned his redemption. I think it's better as a parallel to Rebecca:
First, the wound is still fresh, the rage is fueling everything, she keeps getting hurt by news and the bullshit he's throwing at her and she sabotages herself and those around her (season 1 Jamie)
Then she makes amends, starts letting herself connect with people, lets go of some of the rage that had her hurting herself and those around her, but Rupert still has the power to hurt her. The anger and hurt are still there, but they're fueling her in a much more productive way. His news about the baby makes her realize how badly she wants one and she starts to explore her options. So she's in a better place, but she's still hurt. But this time, all of that anger gets directed in one way: Beat Rupert.
By the end of season 3, Rupert has no power to hurt her. That scene in International Break where she can laugh with him is that big shift. She doesn't care about beating him, she just wants the team to win for themselves. She can hang up that expensive artwork again because she likes it and who cares that Rupert was the one who gave it to her. When she meets Rupert in the last episode I think she's genuinely happy for him that both of his beloved teams are at the top. That's what forgiveness looks like. She didn't give anything to Rupert. It actually has nothing to do with Rupert - he's still a prick and I don't imagine them hanging out for fun any time soon. But it means able to approach him without any of that resentment along for the ride.
Which, again, makes that text really annoying. Even if we're going for a second chances, and rehab really is the sign everything is going to change for Jamie's dad, Jamie being the one to reach out to him and put him back in his life was annoying. I'd have even been fine with him showing up at the rehab facility at the end if we didn't have the text.
I think letting go does go hand in hand with reconnecting on better terms. There are people who hurt me very deeply and I think I was legit in my hurt, anger, and attempt to cut them out of my life. But years later, when I pressed on that bruise and it didn't cause me any more pain, I did find myself building connections with them again. But that second part takes time and the show wasn't well served to try to shortcut it.
Tl;dr - Ted telling Jamie to forgive his dad wasn't bad or wrong or anything else. The text was bullshit though.

As an Asian and a major fan of the Jedi, I just wanna slap Lesyle Headland in the face. I'm so tired of ignorant Westerners (aka faux white feminists) like her and Kathleen Kennedy shitting on the Jedi. They're basically insulting and looking down on my people and their culture. I wish Kathleen Kennedy got fired. I wish that SOMEONE could hire an Asian person to direct the Acolyte instead of a white Western woman like Lesyle Headland. She should just go back to making a 3rd season of Russian Doll or whatever. Why is it SO HARD for Disney to hire Asian people to be in charge of a Star Wars series or movie???
The anti-jedi rethoric is very annoying and it upsets me that lucasfilm doesn't try (i might be wrong about them not trying but alas) to at least direct creators working for canon material to stick to GLs original meaning without the very prominent legends bias we know older fans have. You and everyone to whom this characterization is important (I'm one of them!) has every right to be upset about the things she said, but I just want to point out a few things:
We don't know how Acolyte is going to turn out. The statement is worrying but we've seen actors/directors say things in interviews that just don't reflect on what we actually get. (Favreou does this all the time) I say we wait. I'm not an optimistic but I think we can hold off saying it will DEFINITELY be awful until it actually comes out.
Again, it's very upsetting having yet another show trying to be "jedi critical" but I can't help but notice that Filoni, Favreou and multiple other writers have been doing it for years and everyone still watches and reads everything they put out. Not many people seriously call for them being fired. The fact that I've seen way more anger and aggressiveness towards Lesyle is... telling. Go all the way on the critiques of the material when the show comes out (I will) but don't be blind to the fact that she is one of the first openly queer women leading a prominent Disney production. There will be fans being awful to the show just because of it + Amandla's race and gender. Sometimes will be hard to tell which kind of anger someone is expressing but I'll highlight that is NEVER productive to side with bigots, even when you're rightfully angry for different reasons than them.
Which leads to my next point: we should be (I know we already are, just to remember the focus) advocating for diversity on the writing room. That's the space we have to a big cast of opinions and perspectives in the same project, while we only have one director/a few producers. And I think it's important to acknowledge that in that department they've already have gone really far just in the last couple years. We have Debora Chow. Diego Luna was producing Andor. Regardless of the end result, Lesley is an openly queer woman. EVERY SINGLE LEAD BESIDES EWAN IS A POC. This was unimaginable ten years ago. This is just a reminder to not let yourself fall in despair, we're getting there.
Kathleen Kennedy is incredible at her job. I'm not discussing her opinions because they aren't that relevant: she doesn't make any creative decisions. She makes executive and strategic ones, and Star Wars has put out more content under her administration than ever. She is one of the reasons it's so diverse now. Push for her to do better, to hire people who have a vision that aligns with what star wars is meant to be, but calling for her being fired is echoing the dudebros who blame her for every detail that aren't even under her control.
None of this erases the underlying racism in the refusal to understand Jedi culture, you (we) are rightfully angry, specially if Acolyte turns out to be exactly how she said it will. I just think there are more effective ways we can have this conversation and pressure Lucasfilm to do better than boycotting a show we don't even know if is really problematic yet, lest they decide it's easier to stick to the "standard" white straight male pov because it cuts off both the "wokenism" complaints and the ones that what they're doing isn't the right kind of diversity. My hottest Jonathan Byers take as a Jonathan enjoyer is that while he has been undoubtedly sidelined. It's not like a major crime or close to character assassination. In fact I'm fairly certain the writers still have a lot of love for the character. Idk if yall remember what TV shows were like in the 2000s and early 2010s but when fans and writers didn't like a character, they'd either just die or barely get any screen time. Re-watching the show. While Jonathan isn't as prominent in s3 and 4 as he was in s1 and 2 he still always gets a storyline on his own, constantly involved in action(Him,Nancy and Lucas actually carry s3's final act action wise). S4 he doesn't get to be in much action anymore but he still gets the best action scene of the season for me and gets his own arc. I mean like can we just be honest and say he had much better writing in season 4 than Steve did. And also they had similar amounts of screentime. I thought he was the best written teenage male on the show in s4 by far. If you actually go back and watch it, he gets similar amounts of screentime in s4 to Eddie and Steve. Idk maybe I'm wrong here but I've seen writers literally kill characters, make them awful people, totally write them off the show, etc. The writers of ST have never really tried to ignore Jonathan or make him awful. They still use him a lot. S3 is a bit of an exception, not the rule. But I still think he gets great scenes in s3. Keep in mind Jonathan is also not the most popular character on the show, he's most likely the least popular lead character on the show. The writers have no real need to keep him there or give him big scenes. And this is sort of all happening while Stranger Things has an exceptionally large cast for a relatively short show. It's about 8 hours of content per season(little bit more in s4 I know) and there's about 17 leads in this ensemble. It's hard to give everyone extended amounts of time. Most shows with casts that big will have 40m X 24 eps for like 16 hours. Maybe they don't talk about Jonathan much or he's not in promotion much but even that is kinda false. While he's very tiny on the ST3 poster, he is the main money shot of the trailer for the main s3 trailer. He got his own corner! On the s4 poster, like him and Argyle got the same amount of space as Joyce,Hopper and Murray. He also was somewhat associated with a big part of the s4 iconography with Surfer Boy Pizza. I ngl thought they'd actually have him work at SBP but he didn't but it's still very much something he's associated with since it's his friend that brings it in.

Thoughts on this?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but 2024 is even a little optimistic in terms of a release for Stranger Things 5.
I know right now there's been this assumed expectation that it will release in 2024, and that's definitely still possible! But from what we've seen, no one from the production, neither the Duffers, the cast, nor Netflix themselves have said 2024 will be the year s5 releases, definitively. (If I remember correctly, when asked in an interview about s5 coming out in 2024, Noah dodged the question and said that they want it to be really good and are going to try to get it out as soon as they can... if anything he was trying to hint here that fans should be prepared that it might not be 2024, but that's okay bc that means that quality is being considered over a speedy release).
Again there have been talks about it, and I'm sure that's what they're shooting for. But they don't seem to be making any official statements about 2024 being a for sure thing. Because I mean, how could it be?
Covid did a really big number on the industry, especially production for ST4. Not only that but workers are starting to unionize and fight back against long hours, shitty wages and unsafe working conditions.
And so there's this unknown looming. Could the global pandemic reach a point that causes the industry to come to a halt again? Could there be a strike that stops productions from filming, including ST5? There's just a lot of unforeseen factors to keep in mind.
Our perception of how fast shows should be cranking out between seasons, are from a rose-tinted lens and honestly a little bit naive. We're not taking into account that those same expectations we have are based on an industry that has thrived off of malpractice for decades.
So, would I be mad if ST5 came out in 2025? No.
Also important to note that this is the end. I know that a lot of fans are impatient and just want the final season ASAP, but even so, when we do get it, it's over after that. There's nothing else to look forward to for fans when it comes to these characters. Arguably, hiatus will be the time we'll look back on and miss most when this is all over. So enjoy theorizing and analyzing during the wait while you still can!
And again, let's keep in mind, a sooner release means they might have to rush and make quick decisions that impact the story negatively, with them settling for results that could have been better had they had more time. Whereas a later release, or at least later than we may have hoped, will probably mean they got the essential time they needed and therefore a lot better quality for the final cut.
David Harbour said late last year that filming will start in the summer. Noah just mentioned a few times recently that he starts filming in May. But it was also mentioned in an interview promoting WYFSTW with Finn that filming would be starting in March.
Who knows for sure right now, it'll probably require us getting closer to the start to know. But the good news is once filming starts, they'll tell us! However, this does bring up an important aspect of all of this that fans also don't seem to take into consideration, which is scheduling.
The main cast are all hot commodities now, with most of them having multiple productions to film in one single year. And so, imagine trying to get about a dozen A-B listers schedule's to overlap? It's not easy.
Though from what I've read, David is dealing with schedule issues because he's filming another movie at the same time as s5. And Noah specifically mentioned school being a factor when he brought up filming starting in May for him. And so it's possible overall production for s5 could be starting sooner than we think, with some main cast-members starting earlier/later than others.
I think the main good news (everyone cheer) is that we have no new characters for s5. And so I think that will allow filming to take a little less time. S1 was a lot smaller scale in terms of the characters focused on, with production going from September 2015 to early 2016 and with a release in July that same year. But s1 was also very very small scale in comparison to what s5 will be. While filming for s5 will definitely be shorter than s4 in terms of over overall running time, it'll still be longer and just in general bigger than s1.
I'm gonna take an educated guess and say at least 9 months for filming s5, but it's possible they could run up to a year because of scheduling issues, unexpected delays, unforseen events, with some cast-members potentially working earlier/later than the majority of the production. Best case scenario, filming could be done by December 2023, and that's taking into account filming may indeed not start fully until May 2023. This would give them roughly 8-10 months of filming.
And that's not even including post-production for VFX, which is likely going to take upwards of 6 months at least, because the upside down is expected to be a main setting for the story in s5, meaning a lot more time spent working on visual effects despite filming already being complete. Then there's editing and all that good stuff. And don't even get me started on marketing (they're watching us rn taking notes for ST5 social media promo... Smile and wave boys!)
Again, I do think 2024 is possible, though it would have to be later in 2024. Summer 2024 is still a little too optimistic, but I wont rule it out bc they love summer releases.
March 22nd on the other hand, is very much pushing it, as they'd only be like 2 months into VFX at that point.
Though, I could see the vision of this, assuming it released in 2025 (lands on a Saturday that year, but still according to new theories March 21st is potentially an important date related to Henry/Vecna and it's the day s4 started the story off, so that's possible!)
March 21st 2025 would be my ideal date if they had to push it further out to a 2025 release. And that is a big possibility, which is why I think they're not out here comfortably sticking to a year right now.
It's also likely that when we find out the official year of release, we'll get a poster potentially or some kind of short teaser hyping up the final season.
ST5 2025 is kind of iconic. But I guess we'll just have to see!
Even though I don't think March 22nd 2024 is possible, it would be cool to get some major news on that day, like an exact release date for the final season maybe? That would be birthdaygate proof in and of itself.

this is gonna be a long rant so fair warning:
Having been in the 🐝 fandom since before season 1, I've seen fandom fights come and go. Despite not often engaging in fandom discourse, the exposure of what is rotten in some parts of the fandom thanks to anons at @waitingforeddyneddy and the latest shadyness thrown at Simone and Simone fans made me do this post for my followers. I am not tagging this because I know these vile people love to go around doxxing and bullying.
Before anyone considers harassing or bullying me as well, I want to clarify that I am not friends with Annie, nor do I follow her. However, I appreciate her blog and some anons for exposing some of the nasties within this fandom. It reinforces my belief that certain JB fans have a superior complex and put this yt man (and themselves as “the better fans”) on a ridiculous high pedestal.
It's disgusting to continuesly see people labeled unfairly, like being called "homophobic" for not stanning JB or “racist”for whatever other reason (mainly because they are a fan of Simone but apparently they are not “right” enough).
I used to think JB and SA fans where a unit but ever since S2 dropped the shadyness from JB fans hasn’t stopped, it has increased.
So I am saying this:
If you’re one of those supporting the nasty and passive aggressive comments from certain JB Stans who claim Simone “hasn’t said shit about Kanthony S3” and “only talked about the KA dance a year ago and that was her only statement”, disregarding her numerous interviews from the past year, compared to JB's one time interview about S3 KA in April last year; if you believe Jonny's vague “we are back”qualifies him as the K*nthony king where he couldn’t even name drop his leading lady nor her character and you insist on policing anyone rightfully calling Simone the “K*nthony stan queen” (or whatever name 😂)due to your hurt ego as a JB fan; if you engage in sending death threats and hateful messages to @waitingforeddyneddy or anyone who is not a fan of your damn white as chalk man, if you are joking about “Simone's (un)employment” and calling her boyfriend all sorts of names; if all this aligns with your behavior, please unfollow me now and go f*ck yourself.
I may not support everything discussed over there, but thanks to that blog’s anons, I've become aware that some Simone fan sites (some whom I used to follow and support) are involved with or even instigating negativity. I hope you feel ashamed of calling her boyfriend ugly or harassing her fellow stans, or make fun of people supporting her just because you don’t like them while also having the audacity to dictate Simone on her own instagram how, when and what to post. What a big ass hypocrite and disgusting person you and your friends are.
To those love to claim that Simone's fans behavior reflect poorly on her and the fandom (I quote “this is why everyone hates SA fans”), you would benefit from taking a moment to reflect on everyone’s individual behavior including your own. JB fans, look no further than to your mutual stans who tell SA fans they wish they “got aborted”. All for your yt man who will never f*ck you. Your sick in the head.
And for anyone who wants to know what piece of worthless scum there is among the JB / (k)*nthony fandom read through the anons from the blog by @waitingforeddyneddy
Trigger Warning: I hope those with braincells in the JB fandom understand that I'm not generalizing all fans as a whole.
Everyone else playing superior while stanning that yt man:Wishing you a change of attitude.
I am linking this post pinned to my blog since Season 2 dropped. It features (TW for the ego hurt) THE ONLY interview from JB in April 2022 about KA S3 he ever gave since the show dropped contrasting with numerous instances where Simone(the Queen of Kan*hony;))))), has discussed KA. You are welcome to shut tf about now.
Edit: you are also f*cked up to think JB telling some random stalker fan he “loves” Simone means they are secret besties or whatever. Talking about parasocial.

i'll be honest, i dont know much about hermitcraft since my main focus has been just the life series. but to me moon big is like THE hermitcraft thing, so i am shocked that there was people who hated it at all, let alone that the ccs think most people hated it. i've seen so much art, fics, discussions, and love for that ending. i can't really judge the ending since i haven't seen even a single episode. but one thing is for sure: when i think hermitcraft, i think of moon big
it sucks that the negative is what gets the most attention, but that's engagement-based social media for ya!
YEAH??? like, as time passes, i really do think that moon big is the hermitcraft thing. i mean, a 300 note meme post i made about it got into a youtube video from a guy with 500k subs, entirely out of context.
Reddit didn't seem to love moon big, and it drew various criticisms. Mostly, if I had to guess, this is because the subreddit doesn't like lore as much as we do. I saw a lot of posts from people who stopped watching hermits when they got too involved with storylines. I even saw people say they thought hermitcraft was better in really early seasons, when it was just regular minecraft let's play. Now, if that's the kind of content you want, that's fine. But so many people took to reddit to complain that they weren't getting that content they wanted, that the hermits were doing more story/roleplay based stuff.
Moon big was the largest lore thing yet in hermitcraft history. Even in the empires crossover, not every hermit participated. But moon big was for everyone. It was visually present in every video, the physical effects of the earthquakes and blocks flying up were present in every video, and it dictated/forced the end of the season--so therefore it affected all hermits and all povs. Now, not all hermits did a lot of lore for it. Some just basically didnt acknowledge it. But it did mean that if you were one of these people who wasn't a fan of lore/storyline, every episode from now on made you aware of it.
Me? I think it was brilliant. I think it was a great solution for a season that needed to be cut short. People accused it of being rushed, but it wasn't at all--the build up took over 2 months and had been in planning for months before then, so it was nearly planned for the whole season. I think it was also a great example of a storyline people could interact with at whatever level they wanted. Some people like Tango did a whole side storyline trying to stop it. Other people just simply tried to survive and continue their everyday activities. All of that still painted a picture, and it's a picture i'm obsessed with.
But yeah, a lot of people on reddit didn't like it. I think it was a banned topic for a while because the mods got tired of negative discussion posts on it. I won't even say the people on reddit who disliked it were in a majority--they might not have been! but they were, unfortunately, loud enough that to this day you'll still hear hermits talk about how S8 was unpopular or a failed experiment.
Which is so, so sad to me.
