BODY SHAMING: A CURSE THAT MUST BE LIFTED In this era where social media is easily accessible, there is a strong emphasis on idealized beauty on platforms such as Instagram, magazines and television. Often we can see various advertisements and tips being offered on television and magazines about how to become slim or glorious. Indirectly this is hiding our imperfections of unrealistic beauty standards. Why do you think that someone should change the way they look? It is a result of inappropriate attitude of people towards other person’s shape and size. This form of serious bullying and harassment is known as body shaming. You must have come across a number of people who pass negative comments on people who are too fat or skinny. It is the habitude of people to criticize the bodies of different people. They do it as a part of humor but this humor can result in severe consequences which might affect the lives of individuals. Often the people who are censured on the basis of body, develop a feeling of self-rejection. This leads to low self-esteem and self-confidence. They even suffer from depression, social isolation and anxiety in many a cases. If you are body shamed don’t just overthink about it. Don’t try to change forcibly. It is your own body and you should rule over it. If the person himself is not ready to accept his body then no one else can make him realize the real beauty which he carries all the while but cannot see because of some unruly people. People will continue to talk because it is the tendency of human nature. So just ignore what others say. Focus on the things you like. You don’t need validation from anyone else to feel good about yourself. Everyone is perfect in their own way. If anything makes you differ from others is not your body or appearance, it is your uniqueness.

God is perfect which means he never makes mistakes. Every person and thing God created is unique. God is the master designer and who you are is because God created you that way. So, no matter what you sexual orientation or gender is it was all part of God’s design for you. You are not a mistake, but perfectly designed by God’s own hands. He does not hate you because of your sexuality or gender but in fact loves you because of it. In his eyes you are his perfect masterpiece, his Holy Miracle.
