i have not, actually. but i can now!

my first tattoo, left forearm, i got it when i was 16 after my first trip to the psych ward 🫣

then i got this one, right bicep, i got this one during my “forgotten years” when a nurse practitioner drugged the hell out of me, i think i was 17. the lyrics are from karma police by radiohead.

followed by my iconic triforce…fun fact, i don’t have this because i played a bunch of LoZ growing up. i got it because my dad (technically my stepdad, i grew up with a single mom) and i bonded over watching him play old zelda games. i myself didn’t play a lot of them, but now that i’m older with money and emulators i can catch up lol. this was also during the forgotten years but i have told the story enough that it’s burned into my memory lol.

koi fish on my left thigh, a coverup for some barcodes. like the last two, it was also during the forgotten years. i don’t remember the reasoning i had at the time, but i’m sure it has something to do with the folk tale of koi swimming up a waterfall, and also for my time living in japan.

also during the forgotten years but i know this one very well. this is a stick and poke on my right hip that looked actually really clean before it got covered by the hip roll…it’s a silhouette of the plane hijacked by richard “beebo” russell back in 2018. he was a baggage handler who hijacked the empty plane, flew it with no flight experience, pulled off an amazing barrel roll with 10 feet of clearance above a lake, and crashed himself into a deserted island in a spectacular suicide. his final conversation with ATC is recorded, and his story has stuck with me for years.

i start to gain memory around here. right forearm, i was 19. it’s my most commented on tattoo irl, and my favorite. it’s paint strokes that the artist did by hand to cover up years’ worth of barcodes lolll

probably my least favorite. left forearm, i wanted this to be a great tattoo, but the artist was a douchebag and i didn’t feel safe stopping him when he had a needle already in my arm while he gave me major attitude, fought me on the spelling of the word “breathe,” called my cats disgusting, and blared screamo the whole time. he did me so dirty with this one. my bugs are generic google images and the moth is the wrong color. i was 21. also, choose the bear 🥲

this is my most recent tattoo on the back of my right forearm. it’s the karma system for the game Rain World, which is my favorite game of all time and means so much to me. it was winter time and i had really dry skin, so the ink didn’t take as well as i wanted it to, so i’m going to get it touched up eventually. i was 23. also it’s super funny because i’ve been accused of being a white person with a poorly translated kanji tattoo by clueless virtue signalers 😂

First Real Adventure Ride!

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!!

So, this weekend I decided to do something completely outside my comfort zone and ride two sections of the UKs ATC!!

With three great friends we started at Morecambe for Day 1 of the ride heading to Hawes in beautiful North Yorkshire.

The roads and tracks are fantastic and one section in particular is a bit of a challenge for a novice rider, so I had an unplanned dismount, where my bike took a departure from the trail towards the local scenery!

But that’s the thing about great friends they help each other when they’re out of their comfort zone.

I decided to skip a section, as it looked a bit beyond my capability. I turned round, took a small detour from the trail on a road section and hooked up again 20 minutes later.

We finished the day at Hawes with a coffee in one of the many local Cafes, I was buzzin despite the off. I had an amazing day, riding quiet roads with amazing scenery. Time to get a bite to eat and a bed for the night staying at the Street Head Inn. Good food, good beer and a good room with comfy bed and a good shower!!

Day 2 started with a full English to fuel up the body ready for a second day of adventure riding.

Frustratingly, day 2 also started with a flat front tyre for one of the team to test our resourcefulness. A bit of team effort, a slow cautious ride back into Hawes and a tube of bike tyre repair did the trick allowing us to crack on with the day albeit slightly behind plan.

A quick stop at the stunning Castle Bolton, where for peace of mind we checked the tyre pressure before venturing too far off the beaten track

From here we rode to Helmsley, mainly road riding before a quick coffee break and then on to join the big off road section of Rudland Rigg. Wow, just brilliant. Relatively easy, flat terrain for miles. As it was wet & rainy the views were not as good as a sunny day, but that allowed more time to concentrate on the job in hand, staying upright on some slippery terrain. Great fun was had by all and at the end a steep decent down a stepped trail. Again not easy, but a huge sense of satisfaction when completed.

We rejoined the road section for the final run down into Whitby to the iconic whalebone landmark for the final photo!

What an amazing weekend…..

I’m left feeling a huge sense of satisfaction, stepping out of my comfort zone and now motivated to improve my riding capability to tackle more technical rides.

In the modern AU what are Louis' and Lestat's favorite books, movies, shows, atc? Are they in any fandoms? What about when they were younger? How cringe were they?

Adult Louis is an avid but secret watcher of trashy reality TV. His favorite is Real Housewives or anything on TLC, but he's been known to enjoy an episode or two of KUWTK, Love Island, and Big Brother. Lestat also likes these because it's hot people being mean, one of his favorite things. Cooking shows are Louis' favorite little treat for bad mental health days too. He's not picky, but it has to be something soothing.

He'll tell you about the long-winded classics he's read until you're ready to blow your brains out, but he is also a harlequin romance enjoyer and semi-regular erotic novel consumer (he thinks it's more respectable than porn). You couldn't waterboard that out of him though.

His favorite movies are mostly romances, especially older ones like Casablanca, Roman Holiday, and Gone with the Wind (and Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast like his canon counterpart), but also 90s tearjerkers like Shakespeare in Love, The English Patient, and Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet (also like in canon).

If you ask though, his favorite movie is Citizen Kane. Shut up Lestat.

His taste in media has been pretty consistent throughout his life. Louis is nothing if not a lonely, daydreamy little guy in every universe, so he was definitely watching those same movies as a teenager with his nose pressed against the TV after everyone went to bed, wanting to feel love and be loved like that. He'd watch those mind-numbing historical epics like Cleopatra and Ben-Hur too. He loved the history and spectacle, but also the fantasy of it, the strength and escapism he wanted for himself.

In reality though, he was definitely writing porny gay fanfic in a super secret notebook, but weird Louis shit like Dorian Gray/Henry Wotton and Maurice Hall/Alec Scudder. It was kinda sad.

The soundtrack to his crying and gay porn writing was basically just The Smiths, The Cure, Tori Amos, and depressing 60s folk albums (Simon & Garfunkel got a lot of play time in his bedroom). He still likes that sort of thing, but 90s singer-songwriter and acoustic sort of confessional songs are his favorite.

I think for both of them this post applies as far as music taste.

Lestat is also an appreciator of shitty media, but he likes so-bad-it's-good franchise movies like Twilight, Superman, Transformers, and Saw. Whether he likes them ironically or sincerely is anyone's guess. At the very least he throws in some decently respectable choices like Star Wars.

He's also a big slasher guy, especially the iconic killers like Michael Meyers, Freddy Kreuger, Leatherface etc. Louis pretends not to like them, but he always lingers in the living room when they're on. On the flip side, screwball comedies are a favorite of his as well, the highest repeat rate going to Dumb and Dumber, Anchorman, The Big Lebowski, and Strange Brew. He's got t-shirts for them too.

Soaps are his go-to for TV, the longer and more convoluted the better. He knows ALL the Days of Our Lives lore and he's seen every episode of Grey's Anatomy twice. He's going to explain it to you if you let him. And if Louis complains, Lestat can reminds him he knows all the Kardashian-Jenner baby names and watches the old episodes of Project Runway Lestat pirated in the bathroom with the door locked.

Reading independently isn't a big thing for Lestat, but he loves to be read TO. High and historical fantasy are his favorites, and Louis has read him all the LotR and Outlander books out loud during their cuddle hours.

He's an easy sell for music, really anything extremely stimulating. His favorites are glam and 80s rock like Bowie, Queen, T. Rex, New York Dolls, Kiss, and AC/DC, but also glittery hyperpop-ish stuff like Grimes, Poppy, Charli XCX, and Rico Nasty. Whatever scratches his little rodent brain. His playlists are sensory overload and they make Louis shake like a chihuahua.

Teenage Lestat was surprisingly subdued because of his home life. He liked to watch movies and television that took him out of reality and fed his fantasies of running away and becoming a star. Velvet Goldmine and Party Monster were frequent fliers, but lots of fantasy and sci-fi that was an escape and daydream fodder as well.

Most of his music was showtunes, all songs he could sing under his breath while he imagined he was a beloved theater actor instead of a kid trapped in rural France.

The 2022 Autumn Carnival Launches at Randwick Racecourse by justcalendars

The Australian Turf Club celebrated 150 years of  Australian racing at the launch of the 2022 Autumn Carnival on Tuesday 1 March 2022. The launch honoured Australia’s leading racing heroes, while introducing a diverse group of new ambassadors to the Australian Turf Club family. Australian actresses, Isabelle Cornish and Grace Huang media personality, Sylvia Jeffreys, Australian model Elyse Knowles and power couple Ronan and Storm Keating were announced as Australian Turf Club ambassadors, alongside Rachel Griffiths, the Longines Golden Slipper Carnival ambassador and L D R U who is set to perform on Schweppes Stakes Day, the last day of the Sydney Autumn Carnival. Leading racing personalities Chris Waller, James & Monica Cummings, Edward Cummings, Gabrielle Englebrecht, Hugh Bowman, Sam Clipperton and Winona Costin joined the celebrations, which finished with a spectacular lunch hosted by Australian Turf Club CEO Darren Pearce and COO Tony Partridge at The Stables, on level four of the Queen Elizabeth II Grandstand.

Friends of the ATC including Myer ambassador Jodi Anasta, Ksenija Lukich, Carissa Walford, Erin Holland, Nerida Winter, Laura Csortan, Tim Mannah and Little Sydney ambassador Matt Moran also joined the celebrations to officially kick off the six week bumper Carnival, which promises an impressive program of world-class racing and social activities.

Talking to the forthcoming Sydney Autumn Carnival, Australian Turf Club CEO, Darren Pearce said:

“This year’s Sydney Autumn Carnival offers Sydney’s racegoers and social set a world-class festival of thoroughbred racing, stunning fashion, entertainment and premium hospitality.

“Over six weeks, the world’s best horses, jockeys and trainers will compete across Sydney’s best racecourses for more than $34 million in prize money across 45 Group races – a $2.4 million increase from last year.”

The 2022 Sydney Autumn Carnival from 12 March – 16 April features two of Australia’s biggest and most respected racing events, the Longines Golden Slipper Carnival and The Championships. The Carnival kicks off with three weeks at Rosehill Gardens including Cellarbrations Ladies Day, 12 March, Longines Golden Slipper Day, 19 March followed by Western Sydney Legends Day, 26 March over the Easter weekend. The Carnival then shifts to Royal Randwick for the third running of The Championships, the Grand Finals of Australian Racing, 2 and 9 April before concluding with Schweppes Stakes Day on 16 April.

Racegoers will witness history with the 60th running of the Group 1 $3.5 million Golden Slipper, the world’s richest race for two year olds, as well as five other Group 1 races, on a day which is arguably one of the most celebrated sporting events of the year. The day will also feature the new ‘Fashion at the Races’ presented by Vogue and GQ Australia, judged by Vogue Australia’s Editor-in-Chief Edwina McCann, as well as the Longines Award for Elegance, NOVA 96.9 Garden Party, pamper lounges and live music, making it a not-to-be-missed event this autumn.

The Championships, the Grand Finals of Australian Racing at Royal Randwick on 2 April and 9 April, in 2022 will offer prize money totalling $20 million – making them the richest two days in Australian Racing. The Championships Day 1 featuring the BMW Australian Derby on Saturday 2 April, set against a backdrop of traditional black and white fashion, will see world-class racing combined with premium hospitality and entertainment. The day features some of Australia’s most iconic races including the $2.5 million Darley TJ Smith Stakes, the $3 million The Star Doncaster Mile and the $2 million BMW Australian Derby. Myer

Fashions on the Field will take centre stage with both men and women’s categories, as well as a host of on course activations including the Clinique pamper lounge and pop up bars by Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot and Schweppes.

The Championships Day 2 at Royal Randwick on Saturday 9 April features the world’s richest 2000m turf race, the Group 1 Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes worth $4 million, the Group 1 Cellarbrations Queen of the Turf Stakes, the Group 1 Australian Oaks and Group 1 Schweppes Sydney Cup over 3200m, now worth $2 million, a $400,000 increase from previous years. Myer Fashions on the Field will once again attract the fashion elite including the second Longines Award of Elegance for the Sydney Autumn Carnival.

Little Sydney will again entice food lovers and Sydney’s gastronomical social set to Royal Randwick. Bringing back Sydney’s iconic restaurants Icebergs, Chiswick and China Doll this year, Little Sydney promises to be the hottest ticket to the track this Sydney Autumn Carnival. New to racegoers for 2022, Little Bondi will feature as a pop up on the Leger Lawn featuring dishes by Icebergs, The Bucket List and Da Orazio.
