My Beef With Barbara Gordon

I'll start off by saying this isn't any hate post to the character, merely an analysis because although she's never really stood out to me, i believe she's an interesting character and I'd like to share my point of view and if possible hear others' takes on her too

the basics, babs is the daughter of commissioner gordon and the first batgirl, later taking on the mantle of oracle (usually because of the killing joke thing, which I'll address later on)

usually the reason i don't get along with most representations of babs is because she's mostly written to be "the girl bat" instead of "the bat girl". I've only seen some clips from btas but i can mostly tell that's the case. it's a smurfette syndrome classic. i apologize if I'm getting the wrong idea out of it, though, as i said, I didn't watch the series.

when she's not written as such, she can be a good character. i love her version of the harley quinn show, i think it fits what I'd usually expect out of batgirl//oracle, a computer nerd who wants to help people and might be a little impulsive, but means well. though there's not much media of her where she's like that.

and although she's not exactly like that in the lego batman movie, i think that version is also pretty good (not when she's introduced, i think she gets better when she shows bruce that she's batgirl and yk, badass and such). not a computer nerd and also a bit older, but i think she's pretty neat.

I'll admit the fact she gets with bruce in the timmverse (specifically in the timmverse) pisses me off... age gap things are not my thing and it feels like grooming, i believe that's why it's not a very popular ship for either but the fact it's official in at least one dc media makes me sweat (cough cough and they say superbat is a stretch cough cough /j)

like i just mentioned with the lego batman movie, i have no problem with it when they're about the same age or, idk, at least he doesn't meet her as a teen or whatever. I'm not crazy for finding this weird, right?

and there's the fact she dated dick on the timmverse as well, which makes me even MORE uncomfortable. if it was me dating my father's previous lover, for example, I'd probably take that as a weird thing. dick is already traumatized enough, thank you very much.

and also she's bruce's friend's daughter? that's not so weird, i myself have friends who are way older or way younger, but it be creepy af to see one of them dating someone my age, specially if it was someone close to me, I'd be very concerned and it'd take a while for me to get used to it.

but yeah, if it's an au or multiverse shenanigans, it can be alright.

and then comes the killing joke thing... honestly, I don't know what to do out of it. I'm a new dc fan, I've been for nearly six months now, and I can't really decide how to feel about it.

on one hand, oracle is badass and shows that it doesn't take superpowers or immense dexterity or inhuman strength to be a hero. i respect her a lot, and when she's written well like in wfa, i appreciate her character as is.

but the killing joke itself... it doesn't make much out of barbara, and focuses more on her father and personally i think that sucks. i know it must hurt for a dad to see his daughter paralyzed, but joker using it as a means to make him snap doesn't seem, idk, very jokery. even with the picture things, i think babs in that situation is used more as a plot device than as a character and it makes me uncomfortable idk.

and then they made her able to walk again...? honestly that's where i lost it. there are too many versions of batgirl//oracle in my head already and that just made me more confused??

so the reason I don't like her as much is because she lacks consistency, every time I'm reading about her i gotta guess which version is it and every single piece feels more like au fanfiction of itself. like, okay, i do enjoy those, but if I'm seeking something official it's hard to understand where it's at.

but i still love her with every cell in my body when she's written like the true sarcastic girlboss that she is <3

I'm not doing anything crazy today (sadly I'm working rn), but hopefully I can enjoy the rest of the evening and make it into a birthday weekend, as long as RL cooperates. 2 - What character did you begin to hate, not because of canon, but because of how fandom acts about them?

Ok, so I know I remind everyone that I don't like Anakin every chance I get, so I'll pick a different answer to keep things interesting...

Probably Jango Fett and mandalorians in general.

I think I could get behind Jango and the mandalorians if people, both in fandom and some of the Disney writers, didn't keep trying to use them to bash the Jedi. Like, they're not really my taste but they can be pretty cool, but almost every fic I've read that include mandalorians just end up using them to basically say- "oh look how bad/dogmatic the Jedi are!"

I can still remember that I was once reading an arranged marriage codywan fic and it was really good...all the way up until Cody started bashing the Jedi, Obi-Wan was thinking shit like "oh Jedi can't have emotions or feel love, I'm so conflicted," and the Council was made out to be a bunch of jackasses that pretty much abused Obi-Wan.

So yeah, the only reason I include mandalorians in my fics or go along with the mando!clones thing, is so that I can either-

1. show the mandalorians realizing- "oh wait, we're the problem aren't we?" -and changing for the better.

or 2. to show the clones' development from- "oh we can't trust the Jedi" -and leaning more into mando culture to- "we love/trust the Jedi" -and them choosing to lean more into Jedi culture.

I know this question isn't specifically about it, but this comes up in fandom mainly as the "Korkie Kenobi" theory and I just...it's so stupid, honestly. Plus, it makes either Obi-Wan, Satine, or both look awful.

Option A - Satine kept the fact that she was pregnant a secret from Obi-Wan, therefore not giving him a choice on whether he wanted to be in the child's life. Satine is an asshole.

Option B - Satine told Obi-Wan that she was pregnant and Obi-Wan decided to fuck off and leave her to raise their kid alone. Obi-Wan is an asshole.

Option C - They both decided that Obi-Wan wouldn't be in the child's life and agreed to lie to Korkie and everyone else because...idk, they don't want to face any consequences for their actions. They're both assholes.

Plus, Satine and Obi-Wan would've been like 15/16 when their year on the run happened---so do people seriously want to romanticize the whole "teen pregnancy" thing? Really?

The secret child thing is just a trope that I can't get behind.

25 - What's your opinion on modern AUs? What makes a good one?

I actually really like modern AUs! I think they can be a lot of fun, especially given all the different ways you can mix things up with them!

I think modern AUs are very versatile, so there isn't really anything that definitively makes one a "good" modern AU fic. I do have a couple things that are an immediate DNF for me for Modern AUs, other than the usual grammar/format things:

1. Jedi bashing, obviously.

2. Removing characters' disabilities.

3. When there's racism/homophobia/bigotry in general and the fic handles it shittily.

4. When the characters are changed so much that they're basically unrecognizable.

When Loki is a teen like 14/15, Laufey is called in for a peace conference that SOMEHOW ended up happening, not entirely sure. Over the course of this, Laufey learns that Loki is his son and is none to happy. Because as he recalls, his late wife had been hiding with their newborn son in the temple for protection, ergo: Fárbauti was almost certainly murdered and Loki kidnapped.

During the course of the conference, Laufey notices that Loki is clearly being abused by Odin and neglected by Frigga despite her best efforts (she is very busy) and Thor is no better off, but less obvious about it. The incident with Sif's hair happens and Loki gets his lips sewn shut in front of the peace conference and Laufey has just sort of had it. He then gets up and starts shouting about how Loki has been kidnapped and Odin is a horrible person, etc, etc just the beat down he deserved but never got. Odin is taken into custody and Frigga is declared regent.

Laufey takes custody of Loki and does NOT return to Jotunheim, instead the peace conference (or maybe a conference about what to do regarding Thanos?? Idk. Either peace conference or they're prepping for a fight) keeps Laufey in Asgard. Asgard is very unhappy about this, despite the fact that they sort of hate Loki, and Loki is horrified and struggling to come to terms with everything, but Laufey is a decent parent and actually helps him.

Cue lots of Laufey and Loki bonding broken by Asgard being butts but LEARNING TO BE BETTER and Laufey co-parenting Thor.

The story ends when the threat is eliminated or the conference is over. Thor and Loki are still friends and siblings at the end of this. It is extremely important to me that Loki does not abandon his brother for his new family because that always happens in Jotunheim fics and I hate it.

+Laufey being able to grow/shrink with magic because I personally find the hassle of dealing with a giant vs tiny small vulnerable child kinda frustrating. Loki needs a proper hug. ergo: grow/shrink magic.

+Thor getting hit by Odin for something pretty menial and Laufey temporarily considering adopting him, too (I just need thor to have a good father, okay? please.)

+Laufey not having his other kids on Asgard, so he can focus his entire attention on Loki

+Heimdall being some weird uncle-ish figure

+Loki's heritage being like on the bottom of the list of things they need to deal with, the longstanding emotional abuse/manipulation being the priority.

+Asgard throwing a brick through the window of where Laufey and Loki are staying early on with a threat and Loki freaking out about it.

+Oh! this one would actually be really fun to play around with the idea that Loki and Thor were raised as twins

Idk. I just really like the fics where abused child gets adopted by a competent adult and they work on things together, but it would be like. Loki's actual dad. +Thor gets a bonus dad. (please let him have a hug too*) It's a win for everyone.

I do not want to write this because it sounds extensive and exhausting. I would love to read it. I would sell my soul to read this, but I could not drag this highly detailed AU out of my brain under gun threat. I have thought about this extensively for probably three years, but as you can see. I have not written anything. Idk. Maybe someday I can wrestle something out.

He comes from family of wild witches, who were disposed of by belos's orders. But he as a kid got saved by the previous golden guard

Stuff happened, belos had another episode of cain's syndrome, no gg again

I haven't decided yet how hunter was taken in by emperor or even if hunter is his real name, but he still becomes gg later and there's no new grimwalker, for now... (let's say belos couldn't find some ingredients)

Darius here is on full dad mode already from time he knew his mentor rescued some kind against orders

However Hunter is so reckless and not so loyal, when he finally finds out bits of truth about his family, belos and gg (from darius... maybe lilith? I haven't really thought about her role) well, the boy is ready to oppose belos

Oh yea belos did make hunter do dirty job like getting rid of... rebelious witches. Yep, not only palismen suffer here by getting their souls eaten (but no belos doesn't eat witches... that would be too much...)

Good thing later (after several mental breakdowns) it comes in handy, like emperor himself points out great additions to the opposition you just need to fake some deaths

Also good news is that belos doesn't see hunter here as "a tryout for better version of his brother who inevitably will betray him or smth", right? Belos is still horrible to him tho. Difference is that Hunter isn't so isolated and has experience with normal human witch interactions, but no worries he is still traumatized cuz that was in no way a healthy environment for child or teen, or anybody really

Oh btw for this job hunter uses mask (grim) made by abomination magic (taught to him by coven head himself with the help of his stuff at first, later flapjack).

Hunter actually trusts owl house residents except hooty, and knows them better, but he just can't leave the emperor's coven yet because plans

Of course he fucks up somewhere and now belos suspects him. Then hollow mind happens. And if there's nothing to lose it's a great opportunity to mess with emperor's mind from inside. Hunter almost dies in the process because of course he does. That's actually the main point of this au. How much you can hurt someone in their mindspace. (The second point is wordplay on grim/grimm/grimwalker)

I really like how characters use their stuff to just attack physically like guys you can cast a fireball but you punch them with a stick? So hunter's artifical stuff also can become sharp, he deserves a knife

If the pay wasn't so good you'd have left a while ago, worried about the way they use your tech but you've learned that with a good salary comes confidentiality

It's best to keep your nose out of everything that doesn't directly correlate to your work if you're planning on keeping said nose intact

Focus on fulfilling their requests and then escape to your safe haven once they're finally satisfied

You mindlessly flip through the TV channels, strands of half-thoughts floating around your head avoiding your grasp

A cough from behind you yanks you from your stupor and honestly scares the shit out of you

You whirl around to face the source of the noise, none too happy to find a man decked out in all black with far too many knife holsters strapped to harnesses and belts that clung to every accessible limb

His face is shadowed by a black baseball cap but you can see the beginnings of a sharp smile on his lips

He twists the baseball cap around so you have a clearer view of his face, he obviously wasn't planning for you to make it out alive then

You note that despite the smile the rest of his face is twisted into a glare - a rather odd yet intimidating expression

"You understand, right? I can't let them hurt you but I can't save you either. And the only reason you're in danger is because of me!"

You shift slightly, testing the waters, before freezing once again as Jesse raises the gun back up

"I took too long. I pushed this back way too far and I'm the reason we're in this shitty situation now!"

He takes another shaky breath

"Darling, this was never meant to happen. This whole...relationship was supposed to be fake and disposable, they always have been until you! Until your perfect smile and your pretty laugh and your..goodness! What was I supposed to do with that?"

With a half-sob, half-laugh Jesse lowers his gun to the ground, hair hanging in his face

You stare for a moment and as that moment turns into minutes you find the courage to speak up

"Jesse...who is they?"

A long pause follows your questions, leaving you nervously sweating buckets - what the fuck is happening right now ??

"...my other targets..." eventually cuts into the silence

You feel sick as you stare at Jesse

Where was the man who lit up your world ??

You missed him

Though with the hindsight this situation brought you supposed he never existed to begin with

I think they call it being burned out but to be honest I feel more empty and cold then I do slightly warm to the touch after having been a raging fire. Or maybe I've just been burnt out too long, y'know."

You sigh and slide down to arm onto the seat of the couch, still facing your intruder

"Sorry, this is probably so strange for you but I really needed this, so, uh, thanks."

Z had come here for an easy and quick mission with a low-level target.

"What does that mean? That you couldn't stay away, I mean."

"I've been...watching you, I guess, for a little while now. All part of my work, yeah? You see originally I was hired to...dispose of you, shall we say. But I won't hurt you, I promise."

He grimaces at you incredulous laugh

"I give you my word that no harm will come to you when I'm around."

"What and I'm just supposed to believe you? Do you know how you sound right now?"

Robaire smiles patiently, though a deep sadness drags the corners of his lips down more than he hoped they it would.

"No, you shouldn't just believe me, though it's a little upsetting I'm actually happy you don't."

That catches you off guard a little

"If you'd let me, I'd like to prove my intentions toward you are good. Please don't feel, uh, pressured, though."

You hesitate - in any other situation it would make sense to say yes or no but right now only no seems even slightly reasonable

So why do you kind of want to let him

"Alright, prove it. But if I feel the slightest bit uncomfortable then you're gone."

Robaire nods, a grin slowly spreading across his face

Tae Young scans over your profile for the 50th time since he's set out on this mission

He's very nervous, despite having done this job for at least a year

Tae had never quite understood the thought process of the people who hire his service (not that he's compaining)

Given most jobs are related to business rivalries wouldn't it just be easier to bring the other business to ruin instead of just killing off the current head and waiting for them to be replaced by another

Oh well, it's not Tae Young's job to think, it's his job to carry out orders and so that's exactly what he'll do

Like with all of his previous targets he'd made sure to pop up throughout your life to collect information on you which he'd added to your file

Whilst researching online only is a lot easier it's also fairly restrictive, and only researching in person has similar downsides

Tae Young took it into his hands to create the perfect mix of both and so far he's never failed

But now is the time for the main event

Which, if we're being honest, is the part that Tae dreads

Okay, maybe not dreads but it's certainly not his favourite

So far he's gathered you're a fairly normal person.

No incriminating job, some semblance of a social life and no real reason to hire an assassin on you

Not that it's any of his business, money is money as Tae Young's rent is nearly due

He has no time or reason to worry about why he's been given the job

Tae just has to finish the mission, get paid and split

After making his way to the roof of your building, Tae Young climbs down to a balcony near your apartment

He's preparing himself to move over onto your balcony when the doors open and you come out with a bag full of seeds

Tae pushes himself into the shadows as you fill up a nearly empty bird feeder that's hanging from your balcony

It makes him smile a little to know you at least care about the world and the creatures around you

As you turn back around you let out a delighted laugh that makes Tae's chest ache

His eyes soften as he watches you pick up a small puppy and hold it gently but firmly in your hands

Tae Young's chest threatens to burst when you plant a kiss on the puppy's nose and it licks your nose in return

Nothing could have prepared him for that and Tae is sure that he will never see a sweeter sight

As you disappear through your balcony doors once again, setting down the puppy to close them, Tae stays hidden, clutching at his chest

Tae Young couldn't possibly dream of hurting you after seeing you like this

He paces the balcony he's on, trying to figure out what to do

Tae decides that if you should meet again, naturally this time, then you will have been led by the hands of fate

He won't kill you or even hurt you

Tae Young will spare you and pray to see you again every night until he does

Tae's excited for the uncertain road ahead and hopes to journey down it with you beside him

"Hm, maybe next time we meet we'll be able to become friends!"

A little about Lace and Cire because idk just. Thinkin abt them.

My lovefell boys. They simultaneously have a better and worse relationship than a lot of my other fell brothers. Sans (Cire) was much more protective of Papyrus (Lace) when they were younger, which led to Papyrus being a lot more dependent on Sans as they got older. Unfortunately, Sans still kept a lot of emotional walls up, so while he was more supportive of Papyrus, he still didn't exactly "let him in", which left Papyrus feeling isolated more often than not.

Their age difference also complicated things, as Sans had to start working to support them when Papyrus was young enough to still really need him around more. Of course, he was old enough to understand, but that didn't really make it any easier.

While things in LF were...better, in some aspects, they were also worse in other ways, which complimented a lot of Papyrus' issues in the perfectly wrong way. Without receiving solid guidance, he tended toward unhealthier coping mechanisms and mindsets, and since they'd grown apart by the time Papyrus was a teen/young adult, trying to intervene usually just led to arguments and lashing out.

They both knew what was wrong, but not how to fix it without making things worse, so there wasn't much to do, especially considering they were sort of both right about knowing what was wrong...but not entirely. Like each had a different assortment of puzzle pieces, but both thought they had the whole picture. Which, of course, only made communicating that much harder.

In a happy ending scenario where they surface and both receive the help they need, they certainly wouldn't ever be as close as they could've been, and might even end up more distant than other fell brothers, but they'd probably be able to talk more healthily and clearly with each other whenever they did have the opportunity.

There's a lot more going on there but it deals a lot in specifics that I don't want to get into bc they're pretty heavy, but! Overall they could at least manage to salvage a decent relationship, and probably have quite a lot of fun poking fun at the other au brothers together in mv settings lol

This is just gonna be random brainstorming stuff for the tmnt ageswap au. Under a readmore cause this is gonna be long. Also slight spoilers for ageswap

Think I might rename this au 'The Road to Hell'. There's several things that happens early in this au's timeline, that won't be fully revealed until later, that were 100% done with the best of intentions, but had absolutely terrible consequences and resulted in everything going to shit. It's connected to the Shredder as well as why the Turtles left Japan with Yoshi.

Even after that, there's a bunch of stuff were people were genuinely just trying their best and things didn't go how they wanted them to. e.g. :

The Turtles never intended for Yoshi to grow up so fast as he did, they wanted their nephew to have a better childhood than they did, and whilst he grows up knowing he's loved, he's raised in the middle of their war with the kraang.

The Shredder, Shinigami and everything to do with how they raised Saki. Again, they tried to do their best for him, but they also absolutely dropped the ball in some key areas e.g. how to treat other people properly, not as things but as people.

The Shredder and by extension Foot clan's motivation in this au.

Yoshi not telling his uncles about a lot of stuff to not worry them, because they're already dealing with the Kraang, and in the process cutting himself off from a possible support network, which he really needs.

Tiger Claw and Apolex's relationship, which just completely falls apart

The ninja goddamn tribunal and their whole sctick.

Everything to do with Kitsune, which admittedly saying she's doing her best is a bit misleading, in that she's doing her very best to do her absolute worst

Tang Shen's parents. I think these two had the best of intentions, but that does not change the fact they neglect her and aren't there for her when she needs them. There is a reason she throws herself into a world full of mutants and aliens, and why she's able to do it without her parents noticing

Later in the timeline, there's also the Kraang invasion, which will temporarily make NYC look like hell on earth. I think the second third of the au will slowly build towards that, or at least this'll be the background "What are the Turtles doing whilst this is happening?" thing to explain why they're not involved in the Yoshi plot.

Also there's this one scene that's been rattling around my head for the last week, and it's Yoshi staring at his uncles and saying, very quietly, "Uncle, what did you do?"

I think I've already said that Hikaru's Turtle Titan Adventure isn't canon anymore, but I've had an alternate idea for A Promise Made that I think will work better with the themes and overall story I'm going for. What I might do there is rewrite Lone Turtles and Cubs and then start doing the fic that's set when Yoshi is a teenager and then revealing stuff from the past as we go, cause whilst I've been writing DDMG, that's been working a lot better than doing it how I was for ageswap.

All fics that aren't cannon anymore will be left up on A03, cause it's just that my ideas for this au have changed and I'm still proud of them. Like ageswap is one of the first things I worked on after not being able to write anything after 5 years. DDMG and GS2 would absolutely not exist if ageswap didn't first.

So the to do list for ageswap is:

Rewrite Lone Turtles and Cubs, maybe making the new one a separate fic, but that'll depend on how many changes end up being made. Like if it ends up being basically a new fic, I'll post it separately.

Start writing the fic set when Yoshi is a teen and goes topside for the first time on his own

Not sure about Just This Once, that might end up being left alone for a while, idk honestly

a. as a student - okay, this is probably going to be a bit hard to pull off, considering the man is literally almost 30, but hear me out

i could see him in either the hp generation or the marauders generation (but mostly the former)

could be an age regression thing where he gets bombarded with a curse that propels him into the hp world and for some reason he's back to his younger self (child or teen, who knows, just as long as he's around the same age as the protagonists of that era)

or maybe an exchange student program (au where jjk sorcerers and hp wizards both coexist in the same world) so maybe when he's 15-16 he's a "spy" trying to learn things from the wizard side of things?

clashes heads with harry AND draco from time to time; harry because of their different morals and draco because he probably pokes fun at him

come to think of it, who WOULDN'T gojo beef with actually

the student teachers think is gonna fail because he looks so uncaring and aloof and then proceeds to be one of (if not) the top scorers on the board

probably bothers snape constantly in his office (and probably also gets detention from time to time for being so annoying to him)

minerva also being irritated on the outside but also heartwrench on the inside because he lowkey reminds her of the old marauders in a way

every time he comes across voldemort face-to-face, he will not hesitate to make fun of him (like he did with jogo)

voldemort officially has an extra child added to his hitlist after that

b. as a teacher - some of the earlier points of him as a student also apply here, except he's obviously more mature and wise in this instance

the teacher that is either well-loved or hated (both teachers and students alike)

always the one popping in and out of the faculty with new tea and gossip to dish out

tries to hold back a little bit on the hogwarts students because they're not his students but is still absolutely relentless to them (displaying powerful demonstrations and also teasing them a bunch)

mcgonagall and snape being his favorite staff members because they remind him of utahime and nanami (idk would be close in personality to shoko tbh, then again she has the same type of dead air energy as snape but feel free to correct me woohoo)

ironically probably beefs with albus bc they are kind of similar in a sense but idk hmmm (they could also have some tea on the weekends too)

gojo : i once had a person i loved dearly that turned out to be heavily racist towards the normal human race for something they can't help and we had a messy breakup to boot

2. gojo is reincarnated as/ends up in the body of harry potter - not gonna lie, i'm more of a fan of this idea because you could do so much with this + it would be funny as HELL

harry grows up "cocky" and "prideful" (obviously still with some trauma and kindness attached because it's gojo) and correlates to the next points :

dumbledore thinking that since the boy grew up in a muggle household that he'll learn to be humble and sweet and lo and behold, he was wrong

snape getting vivid flashbacks of james from gojo!harry because of how cocky he is (gojo doing this unintentionally by being his authentic self)

even better if gojo!harry ends up in slytherin LMAO

dumbledore also getting flashbacks but of a different person : he doesn't want another tom riddle to happen (esp if gojo!harry vocalizes his want to change the world) so he keeps a very watchful eye on him

from the earlier point : gojo!harry not missing a fucking beat trying to make fun of tom "tommy boy, voldymoldy the oldie" riddle every time they meet (and not hesitating to name drop him in almost every conversation out of spite)

okay obviously he'll have some form of self-control over it but i have a feeling he'll do it just to test him and his patience

i feel like he would be SO CLOSE to triggering the underage magic alarm (or maybe he does and that's a drama for a whole chapter)

i feel like he would absolutely have a habit of disappearing and reappearing (even without magic) and he does that alot at the dursleys (especially when he's older)

gojo realizing he could talk to snakes, and he gossips to them whenever he can

moreover, it would be interesting if he sometimes has conversations with the horcrux inside his forehead (back-to-back mockery)

gojo knows somewhat quickly maybe because the signature is likely the same as sukuna in yuji's body

a really crack idea where gojo solves (one of) the horcrux problems by just hollow purpling the darn thing (wouldn't push it pass him to do it in the battle in the ministry of magic tbh)

either never gets fooled by the quidditch cup or immediately rectifies it by being able to teleport back (a good idea for a crack fic, but maybe for a more serious one he could either be serious or really dazed/overstimulated from the previous events to even think of doing so)

3. gojo ends up in the same body as harry potter and acts as a co-resident — ngl i am warming up to this VERY idea because i know it would become HELLA chaotic

i composed the original draft of this post ages ago but what gave me this idea is this amazing jjk!/bnha crossover fic titled "a hero without limits" by anonymous567 (if you haven't already, please read it because it's absolutely AMAZING)

idk how this would happen considering the shard of voldemort in harry's head (third participant forced to watch maybe) but shhh

basically gojo popping in harry's head either from the start or a from an event that happens to him later on (like the inspo)

he also makes commentary from time to time in his head and harry's like "shut uppp" — and sometimes people look at him and go "yo what's up with him""boy who lived shenanigans maybe"

it sounds stupid but i like the idea of gojo manifesting either on harry's body like sukuna or his image and his spirit manifesting on reflective surfaces like mirrors (his friends going "WHO'S THAT" while they point at the mysterious man in the mirror)

harry's magic "retaliating" and defending him when he's near death which is just a shadowy, smokey manifestation of gojo with the brightest most piercing lights as his eyes

very curious about the chamber of secrets section bc now harry probably doesn't even have look at the darn thing ("don't worry harry, sensei's got it covered!" or smth like that idk)

harry automatically deciphering the sussiness of almost every sus character because, like i said, live gojo commentary (probably would have solved the pettigrew problem faster tbh)

any adult that was around during the marauder's era straight up being reminded of james from time to time, especially the times when gojo is in control

i can imagine gojo knowing the jig is up with the horcrux in harry's head, and maybe as part of a crack idea, "seals the soul" from time to time which is the magical equivalent of taping the webcam lens with a piece of paper

gojo and the hat duking it out with rebuttals during the sorting ceremony and harry slowly going insane because of it

commentary of the black family being similar to the zenin's in influence, attitude and power (feel free to correct me); in short, gojo noting down funny coincidences and similarities to his old world

anytime someone tries to use legillimens on harry, gojo goes "uh uh uh *wags fingers*" and promptly kicks them out, promptly leaving the caster confused (gojo being harry's built in occlumency security guard <333)

idk if i want him to still have six eyes and/or limitless when he's reincarnated as harry (because it doesn't feel like gojo without them, but also he'd be so op— then again he already is by default so why not)

i think i would keep them since they're both the core ability aspects of his character but obviously in this instance, he doesn't have the hang of six eyes yet (major sensory overload as a drawback if he doesn't cover his eyes with a blindfold or a pair of dark sunglasses) and he doesn't unlock limitless until he's a teen (maybe during the gof or ootp plotline)

i'm also excited to work with the older teens from st for once, and i think it's been really nice to creatively switch things up for me this way. i've loved getting to apply some of the buffy character archetypes to st characters: Robin is basically Buffy, i've made Nancy a mixture of Willow and Faith, Hopper is Giles (💀), and Steve is kind of the Xander figure

here's a snippet because i am very excited for Chrissy's role in this fic :)

Chrissy Cunningham – The Spelling Bee! – Serving all your Hawkins High magic needs – knock three times on the table in the woods behind the football field – walk-ins only! The teachers had been mercilessly scraping her fliers off the hallways’ corkboards, and Steve had grown so used to them that he hadn’t bothered to really consider them anymore. Since the hellmouth had been opened last year thanks to Will’s disappearance, all kinds of weird shit had been attracted to Hawkins, and Hawkins’ citizens had, in turn, become more attracted to some of their town’s oddities as well. Namely, a lot of the Hawkins High students had become interested in magic, Chrissy being the most interested of them all. She’d transformed from a total popular cheerleader type to the girl who sat in class and played with crystals or read people’s palms. She was still popular as hell and had the top cheerleader spot of course, but everyone had agreed she’d grown a little…odd. But Hawkins has always been weird, just grown a bit weirder, and odd is exactly what Steve needs right now.  Magic is what Steve needs right now. He knows Jonathan still feels something–he saw it in Jonathan’s eyes, in the way his fists had shook against his crossed arms. working on this one has been most exciting for me because it's set in New Orleans, a city i have spent a lot of time in!! i haven't really seen any byler fics where they're in the south (which like,,,i understand bc the south is The South,,,,,,but also there is some cool stuff here, and not everyone is horrible, right?). so when i have worked on it, it's been fun to incorporate my own knowledge and experiences with the city into my writing. i also will die on the hill that most US cities are largely the same and don't have much variance, but i do think New Orleans stands apart from the rest and has its own really unique vibe/culture. i know every major city will say but like,,,do they have Mardi Gras? do they have king cakes and jambalaya and beignets and a city that sits below sea level? no. they do not.

here's a snippet!

He approaches the mirror, and he examines the damage. Spots speckle all up and down his throat; when he tugs at his collar, they continue down his clavicles and shoulders. His lips are swollen and his hair is a mess, but what draws him in most is the bite. That’s all it can be–what it has to be. Teeth marks, sharp and punctuated against his skin, blood crusted around where the openings have swollen shut. He presses at them, flinches at the throbs of pain they send like shockwaves up to his head, which spins with dizzying delight. More dried blood flakes off and falls like crimson snow against his shirt, which he dutifully swipes away with a half-hearted hand. 

It’s not the strangest thing, especially in a place like New Orleans. He’s seen plenty of people in the wake of a passionate night out with all sorts of discombobulation: torn clothes, patches of hair missing, teeth fillings scraped out and matching tattoos scrawled into each other’s skin. It just means he has to wait for it to heal, to cover his neck like he’d have to anyway. Damn the October warmth; the least he could’ve done is have the foresight to do this in January or February, where he could at least put on a scarf.

IDK IF I COUNT AS A MUTUAL BUT PLEASE INFORM ME ABT THE AU YOU SPEAK OF,,,,, I’m running out of writing ideas (lie)

basically it's a teen-sitcom-style modern au. title is a work in progress but i've been thinking of writing out myself bc i just think it would be really funny

tankoubon kinda thing with a backing plot [when will the gays get together] but it's mostly just banter: the novel

ages are. idk yet but susato is probably early to mid teens and kazuma/ryuunosuke are late teens [they're deaged bc the 7 year age difference would mean either susato is super young or asoryuus are too old for funnie teen shit]

protag/pov chara is susato bc i think it would be funny. the story starts at some sorta out-of-context asoryuu bit and the whole "freeze. let's rewind to the ACTUAL beginning" thing happens

[exposition below]

a few weeks ago kazuma came back from school after the speech competition he was preparing for for a while. he is absolutely livid. sorta at everything, mostly himself bc he flubbered up the last bit and "Will Forever Bear The Shame On His Shoulders" [basically normal canon]

he starts ranting about how his "guaranteed win" is now no longer guaranteed ["oh that's a shame you're very clear and reasonable about your opinions" "ik susato but let me finish"] and that instead of him some... guy ended up getting the lead instead

this. didn't make him mad actually. he just felt really intense during the whole thing

like yeah he had a good speech and the way he spoke was pleasing to listen to. he has a smooth way of speaking that goes really nicely over the ear. but seriously? he would've totally done better if he didn't fuck up

so then he's like "there is something about him that's sticking out to me and it bothers me because he is [quite literally] SO boring. he bothers me so much and every time i pass by him i have this urge"

"to what?"

"to... i don't know. i think i hate him"

cue susato internal facepalm. "maybe talk to him about it"

"yeah i'll give him a piece of my mind"

and cue next day after school where he does the stupid "why do you speak like that" and ryuu even stupider goes "it's a hobby. speaking fast" and they instantly gel and kazuma never brings ryuunosuke up to susato again until he suddenly comes to their house

to kazuma it's cool bc ryuunosuke wants to see his sword or w/e hey look susato SOMEONE thinks i'm not clinging onto old hopes

but susato is like. "isn't this the guy you wanted to maim and kill two weeks ago"

back to the present. that's all i have down that's clear

i imagine that susato and rei would have regular talks about random things. school, home, other friends, kazuma. eventually this distant fruitiness will ping into susato's head and she'll bring it up to rei

this starts a tumbling snowball where as asoryuus develop more and susahaos keep chitter chattering kazuma and susato realise they gave the gay to each other

they always had suspicions about the other but never themselves

kazuma probably figures it out first though and after that susato is like "shit maybe i do like rei" and then is like "but i'm not a pretty bishounen charmer! how will we ever be more than friends" and pov Susato Goes Masc [ryuutarou]

i literally have no idea what to do with ryuutarou but i'll figure it out

other funny things to include:

ryuunosuke has archery club outside of school on weekends and falls asleep with the guard on hence why he wears it all the time

karuma still exists and is old as balls. idk if kazuma still carries her around all the time bc i don't think you can wave big swords around school hallways [regardless on its family heirloom status] so it's probably in his room somewhere perfectly cared for and regularly used for training

this is 70% of the reason why he has no friends [he is feared or made fun of this is a 50/50 divide]

susato is still a devout fan of herlock sholmes, legendary british detective who is still alive bc yuujin is. there'll probably be a chapter where he comes to [country] and she's super excited and gets her books signed while ryuunosuke casually goes "oh yeah we're good friends he stumbled upon us when asougi passed out" and yuujin is super super casual with sholmes and yeah her dad fucked herlock sholmes

"were all those business trips to the UK because you were fornicating with mr. sholmes answer me honestly"

lastly i imagine asoryuus and susahaos share the same link about super Super gay best friends [ryuu and rei] and their oblivious partners [kazuma and susato]

that's all i have planned. susato would be a wingwoman but honestly kazuma seems fiery enough to stumble into this whole thing by accident and make a whole plan on how to maximise ryuunosuke time bc "the intense feeling hasn't gone away and i need to look through things further" and oh. ohhhhh it's because- pov relationship blossoms.

susahaos are a little more blurry but i want to make them important too it is GUARANTEED [literally susato is the protagonist]

yeah
