#idk if this is an unpopular opinion or not this is just something bugging me this morning while brainstorming

Ok, I want to start off by saying that I am a fan of all arts and am so appreciative of the time, passion, and work that goes into any kind of content creation.
I am also very particular about when it comes to art. There are mangas, comics, animated works that I have difficulty reading/watching or will not read/watch if I'm not a fan of the art style.
And as an artist I understand that art is subjective and not everyone likes it. Just as I recognize that not everyone likes my particular art style and that's ok. (Not trying to have people come for me like I’m trashing Charlie’s art cuz I am 10000% not.)
Charlie does amazing work and I like it, but it's clear that her style has changed (as most content creators do) since the TLH portraits she did and the pieces that are going in the journal for CC's new kickstarter. I'm a self- taught artist so terminology isn't my best, but her style now is giving semi cartoon realism, but airing on the side of the cartoon more now.
I feel that my unpopular opinion is that I'm not a huge fan of it. I really like the TLH portraits she did of Matthew, James, Christopher, Thomas, ect, but idk there is something about these new portraits in her style that I'm just not liking. Her lines are much sharper now, darker, more profound and it feels like all of the face shapes/ jaw lines are basically the same (and I know I have no room to talk since I draw in an anime style so one could argue all my lines look the same).
and I'm NOT saying that they are carbon copies. Jem clearly looks different from Will down to his eye shape which is amazing and looks great. But idk...maybe part of my disliking is also the inconsistencies? and I'm using that term lightly...but like
Clary's hair looking straight when it's very canonly curly. Alec and Magnus having basically the same haircut... (I’m not the best person to speak on Dru…but CJ’s flower card is different and feels more like how she’s described on the book). The lack of and absence of runes... and I know all of that can be personal preference/stylistic choice. After all, art is subjective and based off of the artist's interpretation (for the most part anyway) but I'm a stickler for details so it bugs me…
And I just liked the softness/ more realism style of the previous portraits Charlie has done for TSC than these newer ones. These new ones are nice and I do like them…just not as much…and there are some that I don’t like at all.
Thanks for reading my ramble 😂 I hope it made sense
Summary: I like Charlie’s work, but am not a huge fan of these new TSC portraits.
BESTIE I'M ABOUT TO CRY😭THE WAY I ASKED YOU MYSELF TO EXPRESS YOUR FEELING IN MY ASKBOX AND THEN FORGOT ABOUT IT
Tumblr media
Okay okay, SO! You're so brave for saying this, LIKE YES WE'RE BEING FED, thank you for the content for our dying fandom, but damn...
Allow me to also start with: WE LOVE YOU CHARLIE, WE JUST LOVE TO COMPLAIN🥺
I can understand Clary's hair, she could have styled them, I understand few runes on James, maybe Cassie didn't clarify that BUT WHAT ABOUT THESE😫the first one looks like a dream and the second one... I'm not sure, it feels like sth is wrong about it but I'm not an artist and I can't say what exactly is off
BUT SOMETHING IS OFF RIGHT?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One time she nails the character completely and the next time BOOM JUMPSCARE
Is it Cristina? Is it... who's it😳 it can't be Dru
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But also I can't blame Charlie, I mean I also prefer her old style, but I'm mostly confused by Cassie. Like...you paid for the work and had a chance to correct the artist or clarify some details about the characters but...you saw this and went YEAH THAT'S WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, NO, NO NEED TO FIX ANYTHING IT'S ALREADY PERFECT
Girl—

Okay so here is my draft I saved once but I was scared to publish before and my elaboration to my previous post that no, I don't headcanon Demi Fiend as violent without a reason person who just kill everyone left and right, sorry if it might be a little harsh, I was kinda pissed when I wrote this because I saw bad (in my opinion) reddit take on him haha
(and Nocturne fandom please don't slaughter me for this 😭 it's only my opinon!)
Warning: Extremely unpopular and controversial opinion down below, read on your own risk - you have been warned
Okay idk if it's something wrong with me and my autistic brain didn't fully understand the concept of SMT Nocturne the first time I played it or is Demi-Fiend actually the most misunderstood by fandom megaten protagonist?
Like I read the reddit thread today (edit: at the time I was written that draft for the 1st time) about what do you think would happen if SMT and Persona protags had a chance to meet (like not fight, just meet and be able to talk) and almost everyone were like "oh Demi Fiend would kill everyone on first sight for breathing the same air as him" and also in other fan media like in fan fiction or some fan comics I often see him, both in his Demi Fiend form but even sometimes in his human Naoki Kashima form, being described as an extremely violent or aggresive guy?
And I genuinely think I'm insane because I feel like I'm the only person in megaten fandom who doesn't perceive him that way at all?
Like for me Demi Fiend is actually more like this large dog - yes, he looks scary, yes if provoked he can and will harm you but actually he would most likely to leave you alone if you had no intention to fight him?
Like unpopular opinion but I think V-kun/Nahobino has actually more potential to be a violent or dangerous rather than Naoki himself
Like in the game we can see that Naoki seems to be very guillible boy, highly intelligent in logic and math things but having a complete lack of awarness in social situations (I actually headcanon him as autistic because he shown a lot of characteristics of person in the spectrum imo and maybe that's why I can relate to him so much lmao) . But not really violent in nature. Like imo he is shown in the game many times he had a soft side - like the way he treated Pixie or Manikins (like for example, if he really was as violent as fandom describes him, he would probably kill the Mainikin kid on the spot for magatama instead of actually complying to his terms and taking an effort to solve that damn puzzle boy game)
And also I feel like many people forget that actually almost everything that happened in Nocturne (maybe besides the ending stuff) wasn't Demi Fiend's choice at all? Like he wasn't given a choice when Lucifer showed the bug down his throat, he was manipulated by Hiriji to work for him, got used by Isamu and Chiaki as well, then he was also tricked into Lucifer's little Menorah Fight Club as well and only was told a truth when Lucifer already taken the last bit of humanity he had (although I have a theory he might have been not 100% succesful since even after being locked in TDE I noticed some dialogue choices implying that perhaps something "humane" still stayed in him even after technically getting rid of human's soul)? Like literally almost everything wasn't his concious choice, in contrary to V-kun/Nahobino for example where almost every choice in SMT V was his own, concious decisions he had made - so yeah, that's why I think V-kun might have more violent tendencies in himself than Naoki, even if that seems surprising.
I'm not saying he's 100% the saint, but also I think his character is really flattened to only being this "violent, punching everyone around him demon boy" and misunderstood by fandom imo (or it's just me, maybe I didn't understand SMT Nocturne's message or something or maybe I just have a blorbo bias idk🤷‍♀️)
So yeah TLDR: Maybe I'm insane but I'm gonna defend this boy until the day I die, give him a break lol

Do you have any unpopular opinions about Brittany/Brittana?
I’m not sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I saw somewhere, maybe it was TikTok or something, that someone said, “if Brittany was used to her full potential then she would’ve been the 2000s IT Girl” or something like that. And I literally could not get that out of my head for the longest time lol.
That’s honestly so true! Even tho she’s already an icon, she had the best potential to be even more. If the writing in glee focused more on her character, we could’ve seen more to Brittany other than being a bimbo blonde for comic relief, which is a fine role btw (many of my favourite characters are considered “bimbo” or the “comic relief”) but the role that Brittany had specifically for Brittana should have been taken more seriously, especially because she was representing a group of people in the lgbt community. And the amount of times glee had brushed off bisexual individuals as a whole, saying the most outrageous biphobic things or indulging into bi stereotypes, where bisexuals are considered “sluts” is just awful on so many levels. And I understand the time it was back then and that glee is a satire show, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t wrong. I’m just glad now we’ve become more aware as a whole.
Another silly thing that bugged me was the fact that Brittany’s looks wasn’t utilized as much. Like don’t get me wrong, Brittany is insanely pretty and Heather Morris is gorgeous and she’s seemingly one of the hottest characters, but they didn’t utilize it as much, which is a shame because she’s so genuinely pretty. Honestly I hope that makes sense lol
I’m not trying to make it seem superficial and that looks are the only thing that matters (because it’s not), but I can’t be the only one who was so sick of her being in those cheerios uniforms the whole entire show😭 The reason why I love s2 was because it explored Brittany and Santana outside of what they were “known for” or “popular for”. When they began wearing clothes beside their Cheerios uniforms was when we really got to see pieces of who they were. Wardrobe is such a big part in film and characters, it helps viewers understand who that character is and how they can be portrayed differently from what they seem. And so because we got to see Brittana’s individual styles, we got to see them represented as more.
Another thing is why didn’t they let Britt graduate? One of the reasons why I don’t particularly like s4 is because of that😭 like be fr. Don’t tell me that there’s an entire school full of teachers and principles that didn’t notice Brittany wasn’t gonna graduate. Or the fact that Santana didn’t even notice?! Like that doesn’t make any sense. Holding Brittany back was probably one the the worst things they did for her character. The fact that we didn’t get to see her figure out life as young adult college student really sucks because she had the potential to become more than just Santana’s gf
Going back to the wardrobe thing lol, the fact that they put her right back into a cheerios uniform was just eh for me, like nothing against those cheerios uniforms, but after a while you start to see her as just another random cheerio. Santana and Quinn had a whole plethora of outfits to chose from while Brittany rarely did. And she had such good style in season 2! Idk I feel like it was just a little lazy of them to not utilize Brittany’s appearance to her full potential. Like for me personally, I couldn’t stand those cheerios ponytails after s2. I didn’t mind it in the beginning when she had such cute little hairstyles where she’d clip her bangs and sometimes her ponytails would have little braids, but after s2 I think they just got lazy with her hair 🥲
When I watch old glee interviews or bts, I’m always so stunned by how gorgeous heather looks and how amazing her hair is and it always makes me wonder why they didn’t let her shine like that in glee. And don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for all of her solos where we really get to see Brittany to her full potential appearance and talent wise, but I felt like she wasn’t given as much as she could’ve had.
Also that fact that all her solos were iconic and they only used her once in a blue moon. They could’ve shown her talent in a bunch of cheerios performances, seeing as she’s the best dancer on the team and in glee club, but they didn’t do that. I’m 100% sure it was most of her pep rallies that made everyone not hate the glee club for more than 5 minutes.
Idk why my rants end up as full essays lol, end point being, if Brittany S. Pierce was utilized to her fullest potential she could’ve easily been one of the most iconic 2000s IT Girl. AND an even better bisexual wlw representation.

Ok here’s my complete opinions on stranger things 4 which no one asked for but I’m going to give anyway (spoilers ahead obvi)
I never thought that one of my favourite things would be the new characters but I really did like all of them I was sad when Chrissy and Fred died, Argyle was fucking hilarious and it was nice to se Jonathan interact with someone who wasn’t Nance and I even liked Jason despite his assholery
Obviously Eddie was also a great addition, very compelling character who had really nice conversations with the others
Plot wise I thought this season was really good, especially the Hawkins group and I thought that the way they played on actual hysteria about DND that was around in the 80s was really clever
The horror this season was also great and genuinely terrifying so props
I will say El’s plot was my least favourite but I tend to prefer characters with other characters so her being solo most the season was a little disappointing
I feel like this is an unpopular opinion but I really did like the California group. Jonathan’s a character who’s at his best when he’s with his family and Will and Mike were well Will and Mike. I will say they were very under-utilised though, like they didn’t even show up in the last episode.
Seeing Suzy back honestly made me so happy for no reason, that whole sequence was just so fun
Lumax were the mvps of the season. Lucas actually getting development and screen time and Max’s plot the entire season but ESPECIALLY episode was wonderful
Also the Kate Bush sequence was the best of the season I think we can all agree
I also really liked Nancy and Robin! They were a fun little duo and I really didn’t expect to enjoy them as much as I did
Joyce, Murray and Hoopers plot was also way more enjoyable than last season so I was very happy about that
Now for things I didn’t like that much!
As mentioned earlier I really wish the California plot line wasn’t so sidelined
As a Byers family enthusiast it is genuinely so annoying to see them being paid dirt despite their impact on the plot most importantly Will who felt like he didn’t do anything this season
I’m really sad they just gave all the lab kids the same powers, like it makes sense but Kalis illusions were so interesting and I just wish it wasn’t all telekinesis
Also the fact that all of them are dead is just ugh idk I know no one liked the kali episode in season 2 but I wish the other kids did something relevant (besides 1 obvi)
My biggest gripe of this season was Steve and Nancy, I genuinely don’t understand the need to reignite the love triangle, let Nancy be happy, let Steve move on and let Jonathan be relevant Jesus
It’s just so tiring at this point, Nancy and Jonathan having problems is fine especially when their problems were caused by Jonathan’s messy past (in general I feel like Lonnie and the Byres situation isn’t paid enough attention but that’s a problem with the whole show, not just this season)
But Steve moved on from Nancy and now he likes her again!? Unless this is a bait and switch I really don’t like it.
Another issue is Billy. Imma be honest I’ve hated Billy since season two but the fact that his abusive and racist behaviour is just not addressed much just bugs me
Like max mentioned it in her letter too him but I feel like the fact that he actually sucked and the complications about that in regards to his death wouldve been really interesting
All in all a solid season, good music, amazing cinematography but just a few issues imo

ok idk maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I want to hear your thoughts:
“All Those Years Ago” is kind of…tasteless, right? Like, he’s using a melody that he had already written and then there’s all that religious stuff? idk, like it doesn’t really feel all that heartfelt to me which I didn’t expect from George. Good tune though.
Hmmmm. Okay so, I do largely agree with this (agree about the Religion Stuff being a bad call—but personally don't really see the issue with him using a pre-written melody), and its how Ive felt about the song for awhile now. Not sure if its an unpopular opinion or not though, since I don't see enough discussion surrounding the song to say (I do however know that at least a few other people on here also feel the same way about it).
What bugs me about him bringing up religion in the song is that it kind of hijacks Johns death in order to spread a message about God, which feels disrespectful to me tbh. If John had consistently been a very religious person, I don't think Id really have an issue with this because it would have probably been what he'd wanted. But Johns theism tended to waver, with him going through different theistic phases. So its kind of clear that he was essentially agnostic, and while there were periods of his life where he was more dedicated to certain religions, he tended to outgrow them eventually.
Which is why I find it annoying that George would write something like "They've forgotten all about God / He's the only reason we exist / Yet you were the one that they said was so weird / All those years ago". He's taking the image of someone who was ambiguous and unsure about religion, and then using his death to send a message which is kind of, dare I say, irrelevant.
I would like to clarify though that I don't think George did this with a mal-intent or to consciously try and make Johns image align perfectly with his own beliefs. Most likely scenario is that he probably just got a bit too passionate and swept away by his religious beliefs. It is still just an aspect to the song though—which is otherwise a BOP—which I personally find uncomfortable.
@idontwanttospoiltheparty has a different take on the song though, so if you want to read a counter argument to my own here's a message she sent me once on it:
I have to say, I feel like All Those Years Ago gave me like….kind of clarity on what I think George thought of John, like in the end. But maybe I'm going off the rails with over-interpreting.
So I just think to him John was…like someone who was basically his partner in his transition like into his spirituality. Like the person who saw him through that, and despite them being estranged he always valued him as yeah….this person who accompanied him on a crucial part of his journey.
Like it sort of comes through in the song with how much he focuses both on like You Were So Much Smarter Than Everyone You Got It and specifically how it's "all those years ago", he remembers him mostly for how they were a long time ago.
And there's an interesting part of the song — so like, it seems like George was relatively unbothered by John's death as a concept, but bothered by the violence and unnaturalness of it — and I think some of the weird God ranting is because he's remembering like all the times he thinks John was mistreated and saying it's because other people don't get it.
Like it does actually all feel related to me in a way? Very loosely.
And I find it interesting cause he plays into the whole Martin Luther Lennon trope which only half existed by That Point, but I wouldn't think George would be insincere and yeah, I think he's talking about something far more personal that happens to sound a lot like the Jean Jacket narrative.

D!
A pairing I wish I liked but just can’t:
I don’t think I have any for TWD! I have some I definitely like, definitely don’t like, like, don’t like, and am neutral about, but I don’t think there’s a single one that I’ve said “hmm, that’s interesting but I can’t get into it.” Maybe… maybe Rickyl and Desus? They don’t bug me but I don’t take the time to read them! The idea catches my attention and then I move on🤔
There are definitely some from other fandoms of mine that I have wished I could get into before, though. I know it’s an unpopular opinion but Fiona Gallagher and Jimmy/Steve from Shameless can’t snatch me. I get the ick when I see that man, even if he was technically her best relationship on the show. Also the same with Debbie Gallagher and Sandy Milkovich, I just dislike Debs way too much to even appreciate that we got a new LGBTQ+ pairing lol.
I’ve been a fan of Marvel and DC for as long as I can remember so there’s a handful there as well. For the ships in the MCU as well as Marvel Comics, cannot get into Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. They don’t even ick me but I never saw the appeal either. Same with Thor and Jane Foster. AAAAAGHHHHHHH!!!!! I used to hate them together adamantly but after the latest Thor film I had a little bit of “I wish I could get into it.” Can’t really get into… literally any Wade Wilson ships, including his current non-binary partner despite the initial excitement for more DP LGBTQ+ rep. I’m a massive Deadpool fan but I have no interest any time there’s a comic run w romance. Maybe that’s just my diehard Spideypool obsession… I think so actually since I’m not fond of Peter Parker x Mary Jane Watson/Michelle Jones or Peter x Gwen Stacy with the only exception of TASM 1&2. Pete and Wade are.. honestly.. probably my full-on fav ship 😭
Rounding back to DC Comics, my dislike for Bruce Wayne x Selina Kyle is completely purposeless, just don’t like it ig, every comic run with them getting married makes my lip curl which is just strange because I’m a sucker for hero x villain/anti-hero. Idk. Something in my brain also refuses to allow me to get into any Bruce Wayne x Talia Al Ghul storylines because of the one singular comic run where it was revealed that she rped and baby-trpped him. Justice for my Batsy boy. At least Damian came out of it! I also… may get crucified for the fact that I have no interest in Clark Kent x Lois Lane, or Dick Grayson x Princess Koriand'r, despite finding them precious. And for a fandom ship, I neutrally dislike Superbat.
Long ass answer but these are my biggest fandoms and ur already used to me talking a lot! Sorry bestie.

003 + lydia please <3 she is my baby
How I feel about this character: my babey!! her character Hits in literally every single season (except for 5b but that's not her fault no one hits in 5b). i love her character dev and i love that largely her becoming kinder is an active choice she chooses to make for herself
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: i really. like. she's sooo shippable. scydia is my ideal endgame tbh, but i love cordia, allydia, malydia, lydira, aydia (sorry), jydia in s1 (s2 was so strange with them!!!!), trydia, like.... just all so good..... and the ot3s i will not even Start listing because it will not End
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: styd*a!!! though i think they had potential and could've been developed well enough to make up for what was imo a really rough start, they.... did not do that. however!!! the friendship they developed between them was really really sweet and funny and it is so dear to me!!!
My unpopular opinion about this character: not directly about her but in the kindest, least judgmental way possible, it really bugs me when people use scenes of her literally possessed by peter also like a Girlboss Moment. like i see the scene when she is Strutting away from her party to go wolfsbane derek all the time and it's like !!! did peter hale effectively utilize girl power when he possessed a teenage girl and used her to do his bidding
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i wish if they were committed to styd*a they would've done a good job <3 it really did her character and other relationships a disservice in a way that they just did not have to. i understand dylan wasn't around for 6a but i feel like they could have had realizing she was in love with him or even falling in love with him through regaining her memories of him, rather than just shoehorning them in unceremoniously in 5b for some reason, and then doubling down at the absolutely zero dev in 6a. it was very embarrassing!!! i never really liked them as a ship but they had so much to build on and it would've been so easy to do it
Favorite friendship for this character: any combo of her and the original main three just Hits different. i luv all of her friendships but idk there's just something in the way she and allison, and later scott and stiles, all grow up together at the beginning of the show. they are so special to me!!
My crossover ship: oh hmmmmmmm. she and buffy summers could be really good. buffy is just kind of if allison was scott in that she has the Chosen One of it but also the Primal Teen Girl Rage of it. and they'd have the Former Popular Girl turned Pariah of it all to bond over too. could be very fun!!!

Aang Did Not Master Four Elements In One Year
This is something I see as almost totally accepted in the Avatar fandom. I don’t know if it’s because he was told he had to defeat the Fire Lord or if they actually said he did, but I sincerely doubt that’s true.
First off, Aang mastered air bending in 12 years before the show started, not the one during the show. We know this because it’s stated several times that he was the youngest to ever do so (until Jinora at 11 but I digress).
Tumblr media
I would say the element we have the most proof that Aang is definitely not mastered in by the end of ATLA is Earthbending, considering Toph tells him that his bending still needs some work near the end of the series. Also knowing Toph and her expectation of perfection, it would be a long time before she would ever really consider him a master at earth bending. Not to mention, I’d hope he would learn metal bending too. I’m sure he has the ability since he can learn seismic sense and Toph is capable of both. I’d say he’s only 60% mastery at earthbending, and if I’m honest I think that’s generous considering the time he was given to learn it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another easy one is firebending. There are many reasons why Aang probably didn’t have this element mastered by the series finale. First off, Aang’s teacher wasn’t a master himself. In the beginning of the series, Iroh says that it has taken Zuko three years and he is still learning the basics. Meeting Ran and Shaw would definitely give him a huge boost since he now has a closer connection to firebending, but Zuko wouldn’t have mastered firebending and taught to Aang in that, what, MONTH he had to teach him? Also, Aang’s trauma with the firebending would make it a lot harder to Will himself to conduct it and it’s very obvious at the end of the series no one believes Aang is near close enough mastering firebending to battle Ozai. I will say that the lighting redirection is a major plus and should count for some of that in-depth/subset learning which I think mastery should include. Truth be told Aang can’t be anywhere higher than Zuko and I’d only place Aang’s skill level around 35%, though Zukos is higher than that by quite a bit.
Tumblr media
The only element I could see that he’s mastered might be waterbending. He can very easily use it, almost without thought in battle and he caught on very quickly, perhaps making it possible that he could master it that quickly if he were to be training constantly every day for that year, but I still don’t think he has. Aang is definitely capable of learning subsets of other elements as he learns seismic sense and energy bending (which I personally consider a subset of any and all elements, but even if you don’t, seismic sense checks out). And he is quite capable of waterbending, why wouldn’t he learn healing? Obviously bloodbending would be too traumatic for him and Katara, but healing would be a great match for Aang since he is so in tune with his spirit. And we know men can heal because of LOK (Unalaq). Aang hasn’t even tried to learn it yet. Plus, I feel there’s an obvious difference in talent when you watch Katara and Aang. Aang learned it quickly and it’s easy, but I think it stopped there for him. Katara had a hard time starting, but she learned so in-depth that she came up with oher techniques to use it, like her sweat. A master comes up with these ideas and Aang has yet to show this innovative thought when waterbending. To be truthful, I think Aang has mastered waterbending just as much as earthbending because after he learned the basics and a bit of the advanced, he stopped advancing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My main point of this entire post is that “mastery” should not be considered as simple as being able to use an element quickly and easily. Yes, Aang was a prodigy, unlike any other Avatar before him. But it still took him 12 years to master an element he was born into and surrounded by. He airbended every single day almost constantly because of the way the Air Temples are built. I don’t think it’s realistic, even if he was training every day, that he can just master three elements in a year. Especially ones he has a hard time because of the element he was born into (Earth) or trauma (Fire). A master should be top tier. Not every bender is a master, though every is capable. Mastery is referred to as great skill or total dominance. Is what we’ve seen from Aang, without the Avatar state, truly TOTAL dominance?
Tumblr media
I’m actually curious to see your responses. Of courses this is all my opinion and a lot of this is based off my own assumptions. Please let me know if I’ve made a mistake or if something in canon contradicts or if you have a different take on this subject! Thank you so much for reading :)

Any opinions on the voice performances or just like general art of it? You can talk about the book art too if you want
Hmmm - this is a pretty broad question, but I'll try and answer as best I can, because I do have a few thoughts about the art and a couple about the voice acting:
Mostly, I really do love the voices; based on what I've heard, it's probably an unpopular opinion that I don't mind Kaisa and Gerda's voice actresses aren't using their natural accents. I honestly didn't notice (nor did I notice Kaisa Hammarlund also voices Twintail Marra), and I think both of their voices are really fitting. And TBH that goes for the whole cast; I feel like all of them really get their characters, and I couldn't imagine anyone else doing the roles. There's only one voice in the series so far that I really don't think fits, and that's Baba's Mum (as heard in the trailer for the Mountain King movie) - I love the accent, and I think what they were going for was just "young mother" to emphasise that she's not so different from people, especially Johanna, but she needs a voice that's deeper and IDK exactly how to describe it but more mournful than the one she's been given if you ask me.
If we want to talk about the rest of the sound design, then I'm going to be honest; I'm not a huge fan of the soundtrack. The instrumentals are nice, but don't quite have the vibe I want, but I really just don't think any of the vocal tracks fit well, unfortunately.
As for the art, there's one thing I want to get off my chest immediately, and that is that there's something that just bugs me about that one promotional render of Hilda that a lot of the official accounts use:
Tumblr media
Something about the shape + angle of her face in this image in particular really bugs me, to the point where I actively avoid it whenever I need references for commissions or anything.
That aside, I think the only thing I don't like about the art is that I think the palette is slightly too restrictive in one specific area, and that's there's no real way to do bright yellow while keeping within it. It's something I've hit in two AUs now; you basically have to choose between the washed-out amber-yellow used for Hilda's scarf, the Sparrow Scout uniforms, and the sofa, or the darker mustardy colour they use for the school uniforms. The characters in the show have been designed around it, of course, but it's the one limit I just can't keep to.
I will also say that, expanding my horizons a little, while I prefer the show's style to the Graphic Novels, I do really like most of those too. Hilda and the Troll is a little too janky-looking for me at times:
Tumblr media
But I really like the later books; I like how Stone Forest and Mountain King feel a lot like the show, but with a different texture (it's a little weird to explain but you'll know what I mean if you've read them), but I think my actual favourite is Hilda and the Midnight Giant. It has a very different style to the show, and a different style to the rest of the series that's a little darker and feels a little more evocative. This is actually by far my favourite look for Comic Hilda, with freckles and the earlier pointy nose and darker hair:
Tumblr media
One thing I really love that Hilda; The Wilderness Stories gave us is a look at this specific version of Hilda in Luke's current (ie pretty much the show's) style, and I love her to bits:
Tumblr media
I really love the style of Hilda's Book of Beasts and Spirits too; it manages to stay true to the show, while also having this really nice painted look that just gives me so much serotonin because it's so beautiful to look at. I would love if they did another book in this style, maybe even a graphic novel or something, although I think it's unlikely.
Tumblr media
As for the tie-in novels, well... it's probably best if we don't talk about those:

ooh, def Toad!!🐸
Bless you 😭😭😭 also tagging @samatedeansbroccoli since she asked for the same character 😩
Favorite thing:
Probably his severe underdog status tbh. I am not joking when I say that literally no one genuinely likes this man or even gives him the time of day in the Marvel universe.
Which is just amplified when we consider that he's actually extremely powerful, assuming we take his toad powers to their logical and scientific conclusions and all
Least favorite thing:
Dnsjskskak the way that his creators can't settle on one design for him and so he constantly swings between "ok looking at best" to "literally the most hideous, uncanny thing you've ever seen in your life" 😭
Favorite line:
At the tail end of his run in the wolverine X-Men school comic, as he's being exiled for helping Paige do her nefarious stuff and the others are like "was it worth it" or whatever and he says
"All I did, I did for love"
Like..... Bro. Ouchie.
Especially when you consider that Toad's idea of love is kind of warped in that he is just soooo easy to take advantage of. Like, he's a willing dependent in a codependency relationship. He'll do literally anything you ask... Just as long as you at least pretend to give even a fraction of a fuck about him.
So all that to say, that while he may feel his actions are justified bc "he did it for the woman he loves" and all... That's really not even the case tbh, bc he never seemed to be truly loved by her in the first place.
But also in the invasive species mission in contest of champions during the little dialogue transmission, ronin is like "time to die, frog man" or whatever and toad is like "hey fuck you, that guys not like me, he's just a guy in a suit"
AND HES FUCKING RIGHT LMAOOOOO
Tumblr media
Idk, not super profound or anything, but genuinely made me laugh so it deserves a spot
brOTP:
Oof, once again, Toad is another guy who doesn't really have friends lol. I'd say him and Spiderman tbh.
Two dudes who are losers irl, but also super smart and all that. They can commiserate over their girl troubles, I'm sure
OTP:
Me again, lmao. I will give him true love 😌🤲🏻
nOTP:
Probably like.... Magneto or something. Ugh, that's so foul. Just the concept hurts to type 😭
Random HC:
I'm trying to think of something I haven't said already lmao
Uuuuuh, he basically starts to fall apart once he hits middle age tbh, lol. He just wants to retire and live a normal life with his s/o after like... 43. Eating bugs starts to give him really bad heartburn and he really hates to crouch down and do that toad hop thing he's known for.
Age and dad bod weight come together for pretty shitty back pain afterwards if he does it for too long.
Unpopular opinion:
Well, there's not really many people to pitch against for me to even have a truly "unpopular opinion" tbh 😂😂😅
But I guess I'd say Todd kind of annoys me tbh. I think it's his diction style more than anything tho, so 😭 That, and it's like... I get why he's more of a popular choice in fanfictions, but also.... Idk. What about the og tho 😭😭
Song I associate:
Probably listen up by Oasis off of the very excellent The Masterplan album. One bc I just associate Liam Gallagher and his voice and image so hard with Mort, but also the mood is right and the lyrics are accurate.
That and the titular song off that same album. The Masterplan, the song, is sung by Noel, Liam's brother, but idk. I really love his voice for like.... Adult Toad.
The first is more about making up your mind to be your own man, even if it means you have to go at life on your own.
The second has a lot more to unpack tbh lmao, but basically it ties into the idea that "the plan for life is that there is no plan" and while that may sound scary, and sure it can be... But we should also realize the potential it has in that good things can happen too, even when we don't expect them.
Favorite picture:
Lmao am I wrong to post one of my drawings 😭
Tumblr media
I'd say I'm caught between this panel of the comic, bc like.... W I D E. Plus, canon dad bod confirmed lmao
Tumblr media
And this scene from days of future past just bc I literally died like LMAO. Even in an alternate universe, this man is forced into a crummy job. That, and the fact that a man who's poisonous enough to take out literally anyone in an actual fucking heartbeat...
Is cooking FOOD and with no gloves or anything. Like.... This is such an absolutely God tier FDA violation 😭😭

Unpopular dog person opinions:
bitesports are sports and not work. You don't have a working dog just because you do (often very impressive, don't get me wrong!) obedience, and like sending dogs out to bite people in suits and hold them in corners
99% of people who want a personal protection dog who live bites shouldn't have one; it is a higher liability than the safety it could ever provide unless you're an excellent handler who takes the responsibility EXTREMELY seriously and is at personal risk from like, idk, a stalker or something. Not the vague fear your house will be broken into (guns kill dogs too....)
the police work dogs do is inherently unethical, besides explosives detection. And from what I've heard and read from experienced people, one of whom trains detection dogs, the dogs are very rarely trained to a high enough standard for the (unethical and disgusting) work they're put to
I'm too exhausted to engage in debate over any of this so I'll ignore it if it starts, but god this has been bugging me for years

Ok mini tangent
Alastor’s design bothers me particularly for ONE REASON.
Why the voodoo + Wendigo ???
Hear me out!
Ok, ok, so let’s go over some things.
Alastor is Creole, yes? I assume this is meant to be the explanation as to why he has some voodoo stuff going on. Since Creole is a place where voodoo is practiced.
Now, Alastor’s also clearly based off a wendigo (specifically the Hollywood version, as the deer aspect was actually made up by colonizers assuming that the wendigo was a Native American werewolf). I assume this was to serve the cannibal aspect.
HOWEVER
My question is “ What the fuck does a wendigo have to do with Creole or voodoo?”
Seriously, I’ve been googling and I’ve yet to find a connection between wendigos and the practice of voodoo or just Creole in general. There’s no real connection other than I guess both wendigos and voodoo practice can be found in America.
And yes, maybe this is dumb, but why would a Creole man turn into a wendigo like creature? The closest thing to a wendigo I could find in terms of Creole belief is the zombie. I shave seen an explanation floating around that, mind you, is now outdated, that he was shot by a deer hunter? …. Which is a really weird explanation as to why his demon form is trying to serve deer realness. And since then, it’s been changed to a dog related incident, so…
The other explanation I could find was because he likes venison…. Which… seems kinda dumb? Like, ok, he’s a deer thing now, so it’s kinda like he’s cannibalising deer? By that logic, though, it sounds like he could’ve been turned into a cow, and it wouldn’t have made a difference. (Oh god, watch someone draw Alastor as a cow after reading this)
Listen, the radio thing… sure. If that was like his job when he was alive or something, I could see that going into his demon form. A job is something people often dedicate a good amount of their life to. But also deer?
I get that Alastor was initially designed through inspiration from Wendigo legends, but am I the only one who finds the mix of the voodoo aspect of the character and the wendigo aspect just strange?
Also, idk if this is an unpopular opinion, but does Alastor NEED to be a cannibal? Does he? Because the cannibal thing seems a little unnecessary. Like… why can’t he just kill people? Seriously, the only reason I can tell that the wendigo thing is here is to be like “this is why he’s a cannibal, he’s a wendigo or something”. Because cannibalism isn’t exactly a voodoo or Creole thing.
I’m not sure what my point here is exactly, but… It just bothers me. Why the wendigo? Because cannibal? Why do we need the cannibalism? He already seems like a terrifying dude without it. Is it just me? Have I become some insane person screaming at people from under a bridge?
Idk, it’s been bugging me, so I’m making everyone else deal with it too, bc I refuse to suffer alone. If someone has answers, please tell me. I would like to be able to sleep without this random ass thing nagging at me.

Jonathan?
favorite thing about them
i luv that he loves his family so much and he’s a really caring person and he tries so hard to do the right thing but he’s not afraid to be a bitch if the situation calls for it and i love that he’s like a shy little edgelord but he isn’t even really that much of an edgelord bc he’s fucking constantly giving everyone in his life pep talks and shit... but my favorite thing about him is his gay little sweaters
least favorite thing about them
taking pictures of nancy and then being like well it’s bc ur not REAL but u were REAL in that moment u stopped PRETENDING!!! like oh my god shut UPPPPP shut UP. shut UP. he did shut up tho and he hasn’t pulled any of that shit since... so my official least favorite thing about jonathan is how he’ll just randomly pull a 180 on his opinions and morals whenever the plot wants him to. which is not really his fault. so.
favorite line
i’m cheating and picking two but they’re from the same conversation so: “It’s 6:00 AM and, uh, I had a late night with Fagin and the gang, so-” & when nancy asks if will’s safe and he says “Why wouldn’t he be safe? Nancy? Why wouldn’t he be safe?”
like. god if that’s not jonathan in one phone call. fucking nerdy little bitch who cares about nothing more than just making sure his little brother is safe and happy and cared for. fuck. also i think that phone call is like charlie’s best work on the whole show literally just that one bit where he’s like “why wouldn’t he be safe?” makes me want to DIE every time.
brOTP
idk argyle yet but jargyle bc god knows johnny boy deserves to get high sometimes. also i think jonathan and robin could be really fun together i hope they interact some in s4

random headcanon
jonathan uses 3-in-1 i know this for a fact i also know that he’s never heard of a skincare routine and he washes his face with regular bar soap. he’s a very clean person like he showers regularly and everything he just basically uses the most shitty abrasive products known to man even when he does have the money to get nice stuff. sometimes he thinks he should try to be fancy and do the self care thing but then he’s like mmm that lotion is $2 kinda steep idk about that :/ he and steve become friends and within like a month steve is like hey man my mom got me this shampoo and conditioner and leave-in conditioner and hair gel and face wash and moisturizer and sunscreen for uhhhh doing the yardwork but this stuff is all like TOTALLY wrong for my hair and skin type so i was wondering if you could use it it’ll all just go to waste otherwise :) and jonathan KNOWS what steve is doing and he’s offended but he isn’t offended as a poor person like he’s offended as a dumb boy being given all these products he doesn’t know what the fuck to do with bc he's like how did steve know i don’t own moisturizer... can he just tell from looking at me.... does everyone know i don’t own moisturizer or is steve just a preppy little bloodhound....
unpopular opinion
maybe this is not an unpopular opinion but i really truly believe that jonathan kissing nancy and sleeping with her in s2 was out of character and just bad writing. like... like i get it okay? i get that they were going for this thing where there’s just pent-up tension and he just decides to screw the consequences and go for it. but jonathan had literally spent the past YEAR ignoring his crush on nancy and he’d spent the past couple of days specifically worrying about steve’s feelings and encouraging nancy to talk to him, and reminding nancy that she and steve are together when she asks why she and jonathan aren’t together/closer. like i KNOW they showed him hyping himself up and chickening out a lot before he finally did it but i don’t think jonathan held himself back from making a move on nancy out of fear yknow i think he held himself back out of respect for nancy and steve and their relationship and i don’t think anything meaningful really... changed between the night in the hotel room and the night at murray’s. nothing significant enough to change jonathan’s moral views on the situation. obviously, murray talked to them, but i think that’s such a weak justification and so far in the show jonathan really has not been the sort to just go along and do something because somebody tells him he should, ESPECIALLY if that somebody is some random guy he doesn’t even know!! in fact, NOT listening to the shit people tell him he should do is kinda his whole thing!! there’s just no goddamn reason for him to have made the first move there and i think it shouldn’t have happened, or at the very least nancy should have made the first move or they should have done something to give jonathan a clear change of heart.
so yeah i just have really strong opinions about the characterization of a character who’s like super inconsistent bc 70% of the time he’s just used as a plot device anyway.
also he’s gay <3
song i associate with them
disco! in the panic room by bug hunter!!
favorite picture of them
i’m cheating but here’s a gif i made that i’m never gonna post otherwise but i would like for people to see <3
Tumblr media
ok i lied i’m also gonna put a picture because this is too fucking funny
Tumblr media
king you’re not a force user idk what ur expecting to happen...

I don't think we actually share many fandoms, so I'm gonna go with one I know we definitely do but might be a little tricky to answer for, so sorry about that...
The Arcanist
I don't mind at all!! he's a fun one :D Ty for the ask tsari~ 💜 also keep in mind I have not read majority of the official lore and also don't adhere to canon At All so all my opinions will be incorrect and this is neat of me <3 /lh
First Impression:
honestly I... don't remember for sureeee? three years feels like forever, but I do remember thinkin he was just a funky lil magic man and that he looked Cool jsjcj I think I honestly focused more on flight aesthetic than dad aesthetic for a long time?
Impression Now:
HE IS A MESS,
just a lil skrunkly scrimbo with too much power and the type of guy that can do math off the top of his head and tell u the exact distance to a star but keeps forgetting how to brew his own coffee
12/10 neurodivergent rep, a little bit of a mess of a dad but he cares a Lot and does his Best and we love him for it
I am so incredibly fond of spacedad in the way where u point at a character and go stinky <3 I love u
Favourite Moment:
Probably when he destroyed the world a few times or something idk that's pretty cool of him (I don't know what actually happened I've just gotten that question so many times in tomo that I know it's a thing he did lol)
Idea For A Story:
I can never get enough of stardad + exaltees drabbles!! I think it's so fun when ppl write about exalted dragons working under stardad and a story that's just a compilation of all the horror stories about the messes he causes would be very fun and silly I think :3
Unpopular Opinion: I think he should be So Tiny. Smaller than faes tiny. can put in ur pocket tiny. might accidentally squish him tiny. he Deserves It he's so bug energy
disclaimer: I don't actually know how unpopular this is but I'm pretty sure it's incorrect at least so I'm counting it
Favourite relationship:
i feel like I'd be betraying my own lore if I didn't say the arcanist and stormcatcher sjcjnsx
I don't ship any of the deities romantically, but I love the clash between their ideals and aesthetics and I'm obsessed with magic science lore it's just mwah, chefs kiss, I would pay so many dragon money to see the arcane Vs lightning flight lore develop more
Favourite Headcanon:
this is a hard one bc I love so many of the things ppl come up with!! but I think of my own Personal Headcanons, it's that his form shifts with changes in the magic in Sorneith. if one of his wings is particularly transparent and skrunkly one day? oop, looks like lightning is sapping magical energy again! he suddenly has manifested a flower clown? ah, greenskeeper gathering must be right around the corner. notn? you better believe he's some eldritch monstrosity of the shade (and won't stop getting shade goop all over his notes, it's quite annoying) he's just a funky lil magic guy !! and I love him !!

My unpopular opinion is that constantly vaguing at one specific mutual and then pretending you're friends is asinine.
y'know i probably shouldn't answer this bc it's late and i don't want to be unclear but IN GENERAL with the meme i was responding to trends that bug me tumblr-wide and wasn't vaguing anyone in the sense of, wanting to shame or criticize or embarrass a specific person without having an actual direct conversation with them about things that are bothering me.
that being said, given that i was responding to tumblr-wide trends (based on people i follow/other blogs i'm sometimes linked to ) i'm sure there are mutuals who might've seen what i said as personally directed to them, in which case -- i mean i'm not sure how to respond to that. i stand by what i said bc those are opinions i legitimately have, but in general just because i have a disagreement with someone on one aspect of fandom/media doesn't mean my friendship with them is disingenuous; it just means we disagree on that point, and sometimes, yeah, i get frustrated about the disagreement but it's also not something i think is worth knocking down their door/tumblr ask box/messenger to explain to them why i am right and they are wrong, because in the end I do value the friendship and because also: objectively i am aware that it's an opinion and right and wrong aren't really applicable terms.
and i would assume that's true of how other people see me -- i'm sure all of my mutuals have seen me express opinions they disagree with, but have decided the rest of my content/opinions outweighs that point of friction, until it doesn't anymore and they unfollow. which does make me sad, to be honest -- i don't like losing friends. but i know most people don't cut people off lightly and if that's what they think is best in a situation like that -- if my opinions have become so annoying/intolerable that seeing me on their dash is genuinely negatively affecting them -- i respect and understand their choice to do so.
but generally speaking i usually don't do that -- for the most part, fandom opinions are minor disagreements to me, so if a mutual is talking about something in a way i find irritating i'm reluctant to raise it as an issue bc like -- it's their own blog. they're allowed to say what they want. they're people i like for other reasons and who am i to like. cut in and tell them to stop?
so yes i generally avoid that confrontation and different annoyances from different people build up in my head to trends i find annoying overall and i make posts about them. i guess i shouldn't be surprised people recognize themselves in something i said and i shouldn't be surprised people take that as me -- being two faced and criticizing someone publicly while pretending to be their friend but genuinely, i don't see myself as pretending to be anyone's friend. if i talk to you and seem friendly to you then i do it out of genuine affection for you, not to, idk, get something out of it? like, it's tumblr, there's no clout chasing here, what would even be the point
