Rewatching Crystalized has been fun, not just because I haven't seen it since it came out so a lot of things still feel fresh, but also so I can play around more with the Purified Au and figure out what big changes and new scenes I wanna add

Now so far I've only rewatched the first half (Netflix has the seasons in two parts so I decided to just go with it and split up my rewatch over two days) And the first half of Crystalized wouldn't really be that different since we haven't even seen the Crystal King yet, but as soon as I start part 2, I already know I'm probably gonna go crazy with the changes lol

And one thing I really wanna do but I don't know how I'm gonna do it is I want Oliver to interact with the other ninja. Because iirc, the Overlord doesn't really interact with any of the ninja other than Lloyd in the actual season, it's mainly the council members who do that. But with the Purified Au, it's not just Lloyd who has a connection to Oliver, it's all of them. And I want to have at least one scene where the others are forced to see Oliver and possibly even fight him.

I do have an idea for something that I don't really want to spoil right now, but it's just a matter of figuring out a good spot in the story to put it. I do feel like Crystalized is gonna have enough changes that I might be able to write a full fic about it without getting annoyed about rewriting scenes basically word for word, but at the same time I would probably want to post some other fics for this au on my ao3 before doing the Crystalized fic because people on ao3 who don't know anything about the au would probably be really confused. Idk it's late and I should be going to bed but I just wanted to type out some of my random thoughts first.

Okay i just finished watching Encanto for the first time and

Why do all Disney movies feel like they have the weirdest pacing? I first noticed this in middle school when I was forced to watch Frozen, but whenever I watch a Disney movie I feel like the pacing is backwards, like the parts that should be emphasized are glossed over and the parts that don't matter drag on. It bugs me so much cause Encanto was objectively a good movie, from character design to the music to the cultural significance and the emotional impact, but the pacing was fucking wack and it messed with my investment

Even Kim defending you is horrible too, from Harry's pov is a beautiful act but it just proves how one bad apple spoils the rest. Kim can be a good cop but when the time comes he will defend his partners above everyone else

Im frothing at the mouth I NEED to know more abt Vox's relationship with Valentino and Angel. Like literally what is the dynamic there. He clearly isn't under Val's heel, in fact I'm inclined to believe Val is the weakest of the Vees just in general, but Vox doesn't really seem to. Like him. Either. Both Vox and Velvette seem pretty done with Val's shit tbh idk why they keep him around. in-game mc distributes their time so equally with everyone and is so unpredictable with their choices & answers that it's difficult to pinpoint who they are as a person.

and... if you've paid attention to solomon throughout the main story and events, you'd know that he acts extremely wary of mc whenever he offers them his affections.

because in-game mc isn't clear with their thoughts & feelings, people like solomon cannot truly be themselves around them. how could you show every aspect of who you are if the other party doesn't?

the other option surprised me a lot because it isn't often that mc outright states their affections towards solomon specifically in events when everyone is around.

when mc reassures & reconfirms their love for solomon, he too, responds similarly.

and whether mc remains distant or expresses a mutual love, platonic or not, solomon continues to abide by his compassion and generosity.

whether mc mutually responds to his feelings or not, he doesn't hide himself. he doesn't hide the fact that he wishes for YOU to succeed, for your happiness, for your satisfaction, because he's secure with his love. he holds enough compassion for himself that his tiny human body flows with an excess of love pouring out; he has more than enough love for you, even if your focus is on someone else.

can you tell me of any other person in the obey me cast who holds this much benevolence?

One more question and then I’m done. In chapter 8 the LOTF says:

“This is ridiculous. You know perfectly well you’ll only meet me down there—so don’t try to escape!”

I’ve been overthinking this line for such a long time. Does he just mean that Simon can’t escape the LOTF/beast because, if he goes back to the beach, he’ll find the beast is already a part of the other boys? Like how Simon found them when he was killed?

Or does it have to do with the religious stuff? Like the LOTF being Satan? Is “down there” hell? Is Simon suicidal? Does this tie in to him feeling unwanted and out of place on the island?

I guess my main question is, where is “down there?” And what does he mean by “escape”—escape from the LOTF? From the beast—like the savagery? From the fear?

I’m sure there’s an extremely obvious answer that my dumb self is missing, but I can’t land on one that feels right to me. What does everyone else think?
