Transformers: Initiative- Lightbright
A trend-savvy bot with a larger than life attitude. Despite her regal appearance, Lightbright does not come from any wealth. She actually grew up in a small Camien monastery alongside her older sister, Windblade. There, the two trained to become cityspeakers. However, their time together eventually came to an end when Windblade was chosen to become a Torchbearer.
It was heartbreaking for the young bot but she knew that Windblade was just taking another path and no matter what, they’ll still remain sisters.
As Beta Squad’s team mystic, Lightbright uses her city-speaker abilities to gather intel and maintain close connections. Her mind-link network makes for a great communication hub ( and gossip line but shhh….don’t tell  Magnus!).
Lightbright also has the ability to manipulate light which she can use to create energy bolts and force fields.
Confident, fierce, and ever so stylish, Lightbright is always there to liven things up. Her radiance is practically blinding; to the point where even Hot Rod can’t handle her diva-ish tendencies. While she does have a long way to go in her mystical training, Lightbright is sure that one day she’ll become a great warrior just like her sister.

Assorted Transformers Haikus, Batch 1
(you can also read these on Ao3. Notes at the end)
Blasts cut onwards Lasting peace must be brought forwards Wheels and blades tire
Language dancing My thoughts and yours communing Cityspeaking love
My poetry sung Pride of the Decepticons Yours truly Sky-Byte
Forging many wonders Mother to all and yet when will I get time with them?
One of the discord servers we're on has kicked off doing haikus as a writing exercise, here's some of ours, we'll release them in batches (and yes, we are still working on Chapter 18 of Addendum, it should be done soon life has just been getting in the way but it is almost done as it is, very excited to soon release it). We got a little meta with the last one. As you can tell we're really craving a story where Solus is alive and around to advise the Autobots or show up later in a story. She should get to her character concept and particularly her defensive pacifist sword wielding IDW1 backstory was an interesting take we'd love to see revisited without being a monarch, but instead a champion of democracy and autonomy. Alpha Trion can take a break or also be around.
Also for people wondering why G1 Arcee is tagged in something specifically about using blades that's because that was part of her original bio from 1986, and a bio done much more recently combining her overlapping G1 and IDW aspects (which would not be the first time that happened either), you can read more about that here in section 3 of an essay we wrote looking back on IDW1 Arcee's writing after immersing ourselves in it over the years, finding much more than just kinship to her, we felt this urge to dig further, to understand, feeling threads that were there regarding trans history, but not having much knowledge regarding historical transmedicalism, so we dug. We dug because we wanted to show that Arcee's writing from 2012-2018 not only is a beautiful trans story unique in science fiction, but that her personality there and in part in her Spotlight (which absolutely did not intend trans stuff and walked into a minefield in that regard that inadvertently opened up the opportunity for the writing and consulting team in Phase 2 and Phase 3 to figure out beautiful character arcs for her) are direct successors of the original personality frameworks for G1 Arcees, and to show the impact and legacy of both Sunbow/Marvel and IDW Arcees along with more Arcees combined on many versions of her thereafter. In regards to relevance to the haiku, Victorion noticed during Optimus Prime #21 what Arcee had already stated previously, that she did not want to be a warrior. This picks up on a refrain older versions of her character have also shown.

The City Speakers are here~
Lightbright and Windblade; my headcanon for my humanformer AU is that these two have a big sis/lil sis dynamic, maybe even being adopted sisters. You know what, yes, yes they are adopted sisters. Both beautiful, smart, talented but different and unique, these two sisters surely turn heads whenever they go.

It’s June 20th, which means I can finally reveal my labour of love for the Represent Zine on @allsparkzines!
I chose to focus on the Caminus Valkyries--Windblade, Lightbright and Chromia who are TTB’s elite Girl Gang! Lightbright took centrestage because I wanted to showcase a part of my culture as a Malaysian through her Minang heritage and outfit, which utilized batik-style motifs and elements of Minangkabau architecture for her mantle/shoulderpads.
The ornate frame and more delicate inkwork is is Art Noveau-inspired, and you get your first glimpse into the floating Venusian city of Caminus, which is very Asia-Centric with strong elements from Chinese and Indo-Malaysian architecture.
The bronze statue is that of Shu Lin Pei/Solus Prime wielding her hammer in one hand and a flame in the other which is said to have been taken from her forge from the Quintesson War era and has been burning ever since. Those with the title ‘Mistress Of The Flame’ are entrusted with the care of this flame that they hope to keep burning eternally as a symbol of her and their indomitable spirit.
I was also assigned to create a cover for the IDW section, which you can find here!
Today is the last day for you to get YOUR copy of Represent, so head over to @allsparkzines and get yours from their BigCartel!
(As usual, please full view if you’re on desktop!)

I don't see many people point it out or people even being aware of it but Dreamwave contributed SIGNIFICANTLY to modern Transformers media! There is a high chance that something in any present TF media could be a subconscious callback to the Dreamwave Continuity, I think due to the objectively negative parts of it that it faded into obscurity so people don't often credit it as a forebearer when it has influenced canon and fanon a lot
I have also speculated due to what people generally bring up in regards to the Dreamwave Continuity that many haven't actually read it and it's more of a "word of mouth" situation (this has happened with the Marvel Comics and with even more recent comics like IDW1 and IDW2 where fans will heavily rely on incomplete testimonies of others or heavily caricatures of characters as a source of information)
Some plotlines featured in IDW1 were originally planned for the Dreamwave Continuity before they went ?bankrupt? (Don't quote me on the bankruptcy) such as Megatron: Origin, where the latter would have met and bonded with a character who would be a mentor to him. The story was edited to fit into the IDW1 continuity and the mentor character would later evolve to that of Terminus
This is absolutely true. A lot of characterization and worldbuilding was created for that continuity, like the creation of pre-Earth designs for characters who hadn't previously had any, and there are a lot of interesting character dynamics that could've been expanded upon in other media but never were. The Dreamwave comics are not very good, and they aren't fun like the Marvel comics are. I'm not as surprised by the lack of knowledge of the Dreamwave comics due to all of their issues, but I am really confused by the lack of discussion of IDW1, IDW2, and the Marvel comics... like I still think All Hail Megatron is pretty good and has some of the best Starscream and Megatron interactions, IDW2 had Lightbright and Lodestar, that really good Starscream Halloween comic, a more vibrant Cybertron, etc., and the Marvel comics have all the fun of the Sunbow cartoon with more consistency and characterization for characters who were much flatter in animation!
Oh Dreamwave Comics absolutely went bankrupt and more, look up Pat Lee for more information—like many comic startups around that time, it was grossly corrupt and didn't pay its artists or writers, exploiting their passion, and then it imploded.
Yes, that's right, ironically I thought the fact that it was originally planned for the Dreamwave comics was why so many of the characterization details of Megatron: Origin don't fit with late-phase IDW... only to find out that JRo took the concept of a mentor for Megatron and put him in his run of the comics, meaning he knew about the original plans. In fact, I think when concepts from Dreamwave and Marvel were attempted in IDW1, they weren't done very well. The Shockwave-Prowl tension in Dreamwave? One of the best parts of the continuity. In IDW1? I don't think it really works or means much given what archetypes those characters got turned into in that continuity and how far removed they are from their older selves. Thunderwing in the Marvel comics? Amazing idea for a character, I wish he had a more fleshed-out story! In IDW1? Whatever.
