If your banker breaks, you snap; if your apothecary by mistake sends you poison in your pills, you die. True, you may say that, by exceeding caution, you may possibly escape these and the multitudinous other evil chances of life. But handle Queequeg’s monkey-rope heedfully as I would, sometimes he jerked it so, that I came very near sliding overboard. Nor could I possibly forget that, do what I would, I only had the management of one end of it.
Moby Dick by Herman Melville (chapter 73, The Monkey-Rope)

I love seeing people’s posts reacting to reading Stormlight for the first time because 1. Yay more Branderson Fandersons, and 2. I wish I could read them for the first time again & just be like “goddamn I love this”

First of all I LOVE Red Flags Uno Reverse so much! Seen it like 6 times a days but I was meaning to ask if they're gonna release a full version or that's all they're gonna do. Big fan!
Thank you, I'm glad you like it! I'm not sure if Tom and Montaigne will make a full song of the UNO reverse - I hope so, I'd love to hear it too! I told him he should do it! At the moment we're not planning on making a full video for this, I'll be working on something else though!

The saddest thing about the Eliatrope Goddess to me is that it is pretty obvious all she ever wanted was to live a mortal, normal life. To become a mother and simply care for her children. But because she is a immortal being with tremendous power, she always has been denied such a simple thing, had to break divine laws and taboos to get children and make them thrive, and was forcefully taken away from them for millennia :(

Truly love all the scooby doo fans coming out of the woodwork and pitching their own story ideas in response to Velma airing
It's just really nice to see so many new and creative ideas. The best response you can have to something like this is to take it and do better

Everyone in Gotham in the PJO universe seesthrough the myst but just ignores it.
I'm not gonna lie I don't think the pjo and dc universe meld together that well when you remember the Greek gods do already exist in dc and play a really big role considering you know wonder woman and the other amazon's and on the pjo side of things I can't remember for sure but in son of Neptune I'm pretty sure they visit the amazon's and they're keeping men as slaves with collars

i don’t think snow’s feelings for lucy gray meant that he wanted to literally own her. he was obsessive, but i don’t think there was an intention to possess? maybe an intention to control, but different, i think, than wanting to keep her as a toy or trophy wife. as much as he failed her in the end, snow never thinks of lucy gray as malleable or easily controlled; those aren’t the things he admires about her, or if you go with the (IMO wrong) idea that he’s seeing what he wants to see and not who she really is, they aren’t the traits he projects onto her as worthy of his admiration.
basically — in a universe where she went back to the capitol with him, i don’t think snow would want lucy gray to be caged, although that might have been how it worked in practice.

i think it’s unfortunate that ziyal being mixed is not a matter that’s really explored in ds9, at least beyond a very surface level
like on one hand I get it because she’s a side character who didn’t appear often but like. i wish we had seen a bit of her trying to learn about her culture, or like traditions that she makes up because neither culture quite fits her. she goes to bajoran religious ceremonies and feels eyes on her, and despite herself grips major kira’s hand. the station is always just a bit too cold, but she can’t stay too long in the cardassian spa. she takes trips down to bajor frequently, trying to find anything to relate to herself. it’s part of her isn’t it? so why is it so distant? idk i’m having thoughts on ziyal

The response to the physical aspects of the eras tour feel emblematic of Taylor's specific breed of pop star success. From day one, people have been noticing and praising the insane amount of training one would have to undergo to do that show, and rightfully so! I just feel like I haven't seen the same response to other shows that are similarly demanding. And this is not meant in a "people praise Taylor but they should also praise other artists!!! she is not unique!!!" kind of way, because I think it comes down to the fact that Taylor has never hidden the Work it takes to do any part of her job -- which is usually practice in the pop star land of effortlessness. The latter leads to this view of celebrities as innately more special, gifted, talented and fit than the average human, but because of Taylor's down-to-earth, relatable image, it is much easier to see the hours and hours of work behind her success. We do not really see her as superhuman (at least not in the circles of the fandom I usually frequent), and so we do not perceive the Eras Tour as Something She Can Just Do, but as Something That Took A Shit Ton Of Work.

here to say thank you for understanding the characters the way as they should be, so many misinterpret them horribly and take them at their face value or will straight up make up a headcanon and then trick themselves into thinking thats what the character is(yang being the biggest one that gets mischaracterized so much and so badly). you actually go through each characters heads while considering canon material and fune tooth combing each and every scene and piece of information for them
i try my best lol. i'm sure i get stuff 'wrong' (i.e. not necessarily what the writers themselves were going for) every now and then, such is life when we all come from different backgrounds and have different life experiences that mold us, but nothing is more fun than putting myself in specific character's shoes and really digging in to see what makes them tick, how their backstories inform their actions, both past and present, and so on and so on.
i think a common stumbling block—besides headcanons taking priority, which frankly is a package deal with fandom in general—is the though that if you like a character, they must be good, and if you dislike a character, they must be bad, which leads to all their actions being painted in same light, nuance be damned. people want nuanced and flawed characters as long as it suits them; the moment it doesn't, all that gets thrown out the window while still claiming that nuance is everything—just don't point out that the character they like might actually be *GASP* flawed, or that character they dislike might actually not be Pure Evil™, and everything is fine.
(people relating to characters probably also plays a part here; any pointed flaw towards a character they like is seen as an attack against them, etc.)
yang to me is a fascinating case, because, well. people often point towards jaune as the character most often bastardized by fandom, and i completely get that, but what i've also found is that these jaune fans often just. stay on their lane, doing their own thing, which is very easy to ignore if you so please. with yang, though, i've seen people getting upset at other fans for taking an official description of yang into account when portraying her in artwork or fics and straight up claiming that the very obvious canon trait of yang's is either a) never really been a thing (it has very much been a thing since day 1), or b) a made-up fanon thing, and it's like
if you don't like it, take it up with rooster teeth??? why get mad at other fans for characterizing yang as she is in canon??? makes no sense lmao
anyway, not that i need them to stop; the most appreciation i've gained towards characters has been solely because i've seen takes about them that immediately, without ever having thought about these characters that deeply before, make me go "that's bullshit" and then dig through canon to make myself understand why my instinct was that strong—and often finding new things that i had never considered before. it's a win-win situation for me skdgkjhkfh
