here's a little thing of austin and alyssa's juliet below >:33 with a mention of allegra's iryna!!!
Austin's eyes locked onto Juliet across the way, where she'd been coaxed into a dance with the town's resident medic. Nice guy, lost his wife a few years ago, and he knew he'd been lonely since then, but something about how close the two were had twisted his stomach into uncomfortable knots. He took a shaky sip of his drink.
He'd be truly dumb to not recognize it as jealousy, searing hot in his stomach and traveling up to his chest; he just didn't know why he felt that way. Juliet was his friend, his closest confidante. He was hers all the same, and so she'd confessed to him before how much she yearned for companionship. He should be happy for her. She deserved this. Instead, his drink goes down sour and he hands the glass to his sister to make his way over to them, ignoring the knowing look he gets from her.
He cleared his throat. "Mind if I cut in?"
"Austin," Juliet said, sounding delighted to see him. She glanced at her dance partner, stunning smile lighting up her already too beautiful face. "Well, do you mind?"
A laugh, as the man stepped back. Austin almost felt bad for interrupting. He deserved to be just as happy as she did, but the green-eyed demon of envy says he'd rather it be with somebody else. "Not at all. She's all yours, Austin."
That sent another wave of heat through him. "Thanks," is all he could choke out, watching him walk away to chat up Raul and Iryna, seemingly none too burned by him stealing her attention. He turned to Juliet. "Sorry. I know you were having fun with him."
Juliet giggled, a flush to her cheeks. "I was, but… well, I've kind of been waiting for you to ask me to dance."
"Oh." The heat in his own face was unbearable. He chuckled nervously and rubbed at his neck. "Then sorry for taking so long."
"That's alright." She stepped closer. "You're here now."
The innate ability to know how to breathe was suddenly failing him. "I'm here," he said, voice incredibly soft. He pulled her in with an arm around her waist, stomach twisting itself into worse knots when he realized just how perfectly they fit together. "Just one dance, though. I don't want to step on your feet too much."
