A long overdue update:

Hi everyone. Long time no see. I literally have not opened Tumblr since the last time I posted here. Hope everyone is doing ok. Figured I owed y’all an apology and explanation for kinda just vanishing.

First, I did in fact get a car! It’s a 2015 Nissan Versa Note. I don’t particularly like it but a friend gave me a deal on it that I couldn’t turn down. Once my life stabilizes I’m probably going to sell it and buy an old truck, maybe a 70s Ford. I’d love a little sports car or a land yacht but rear wheel drive is a bit impractical for brutal New England winters, and the Jeep really put me in Old American Truck Mode. But yes I have a car now!

Second, unfortunately this is an official notice of hiatus. When I last posted saying I was taking some time off it was because I had just had an incredibly stressful move and did not have the energy to keep this blog up. I figured I’d take some time to get settled in, relax, and then pick this back up after a week or two, but the last month has been really rough - the short version is one of the people I was living with turned out to be a pretty horrendous human being who managed to get everybody living in the house essentially kicked out via sheer drama. Within a month and a half. It’s a long story but tl:dr if you quite literally slander a property manager with heavy unfounded accusations of horrible crimes, they’ll probably bail from the whole situation. And since they’re gone the landlord has to hand ownership of everything over to a company that’s forcing everyone still here to vacate. I’m now fighting to not have to live in aforementioned Nissan Versa through the aforementioned brutal New England winter. On top of that, I’m a retail manager so we’re going into our busiest most stressful season, so that’s been an extra level of exhaustion.

So what does that mean for this blog? Well, as I said, I’m officially going on indefinite hiatus, as are the projects I was working on in relation, including the reference website. I’m really sorry, I’m just way too stressed and dealing with way too much. If I could, I would just hand off administrative power to someone else, but this is a sideblog so I can’t hand off login credentials without also giving access to my main/personal account. It’s my biggest regret of this account, but when I started it I never expected it to blow up the way it did back in September - I had no reason to expect to need it to be its own entirely separate blog. I love what I was doing here and I thought that it might even be a nice distraction from everything going on, but the upkeep required with this blog is just more than I can deal with right now. I hope that things settle down soon and that I can genuinely come back here and enjoy what I was doing, but I just need literally anything to level out in my real life and to not be in 100% survival mode, because at the moment I literally do not have the energy to pour into this.

Anyway. Sorry for the long post, I’m not good at not being overly verbose. I’m really sorry for kind of abandoning this project, and I hope I can get back to it relatively soon, it just might be a while.

In the mean time, I hope those of y’all who I turned onto cars as a potential hobby find some other good outlets! I highly recommend Donut Media’s series “Up to Speed” on YouTube, as well as the channels Regular Car Reviews, Doug DeMuro, Garbage Time, and Aging Wheels. All great YouTube channels that are both informative and very approachable and fun.

Bruno

Bruno tries to remain blasé so as not to betray his inner feelings. Emphasis on the word tries. Really, if you were any less oblivious, you could've picked up on the borderline yearning timbre in his voice. He finds it equally reassuring and troubling that you're actively hoping to be in a relationship, to the point of voicing the desire out loud. It feels like a chance that, if he doesn't act swiftly enough, will pass him by. Bruno loves the others on his team dearly, but he knows how feral they'd start getting should they have been the ones you told this. You stress him out so much without even realizing it. At the end of the day, how can he be upset by this, when the mere thought of having you be his and him yours gets him through the most strenuous circumstances? You are his guiding light.

Fugo

“You want that? Don’t you see how he’s slobbering over her? Gross. A little self-respect goes a long way.” 

No, he isn’t bitter, what are you talking about, psssh. Fugo always expresses his disgust over public displays of affection, finding it to be in poor taste. Some serious self-reflection would reveal he's beyond envious. It just... looks nice... so fun and carefree... then there's him. A guy who has been chasing after you for years by this point without ever having the courage to make a serious move, lest he risks ruining everything. He keeps trying to confess through telepathy, meanwhile, you think he must be annoyed since, from your perspective, it looks like he's glaring at you. Poor guy. The extremely subtle hints he drops and telepathy haven't gotten him far. Still, staring at your wistful expression when you confess this fills him with hope. This could be the push he needs to say what he's been wanting to say for so long.

Mista

“Well, have I got some good news for you.” 

Mista is his own worst enemy. He wants to come across as casual enough to not pressure you into anything and make the atmosphere awkward, but by doing so, you have a difficult time taking him seriously. This genuine statement from Mista ends up coming across as another one of his jokes. You just kinda give him a light punch on the shoulder and laugh. Meanwhile, he's crying on the inside from yet another instance of you not picking up on his flirtations. What does a man have to do? Get down on one knee and propose while reciting a monologue? Now that he thinks about it, you'd still likely view it as a jest if he were the one to do it... alas. Being the funny person in the friend group has its pros and cons. Regardless of his mixed success in the moment, he'd still find comfort knowing you're interested in a relationship too.

Narancia

“What? You want to be a pigeon? Wait, that’s not what you're pointing at. Ohhhhh.” 

A heart-pounding moment! Okay, okay, he needs to get himself to calm down. These hand-delivered moments by the universe are best approached with a steady mind, using logic and reason to deduce the next optimal step— who is he kidding! You want a boyfriend! He can be a boyfriend! So, by following this train of thought, you could potentially want him as a boyfriend. He'd later go on to reveal this revelation to Fugo who appears nowhere near as enthusiastic about the prospect as Narancia is. It doesn't matter. A fire has been lit beneath Narancia's feet and he's ready to get moving. He intends to boost his appeal and lure you in using the art of subtly. When he's talking to another and you enter the room, he'll switch the subject and then loudly discuss how single he is. Super single. Not in a romantic relationship whatsoever. Nope, nada. His eyes keep flicking to you to see if you've gotten the message. He tells himself in his heart that you did.

Abbacchio

“I’m sorry to hear that.” 

Abbacchio is ready to shame you for envying such an obnoxious, unnecessary display being flaunted in public. Unlike Fugo, Abbacchio holds a genuine resentment toward this sort of stuff and wishes people would get a room. He'd ask why you'd be interested in anything like that. From what he's seen over the years, it's relationships that people loudly flaunt that fizzle out the fastest. You're more amazed that Abbacchio of all people is entertaining an in-depth conversation about relationships to feel like he rained on your parade. He isn't nearly as selfish as he thinks himself to be. He tells you all this not just for his own benefit, but so that in the event you end up with someone else, you'll give these matters some serious thought. He won't ever admit that to himself, however. Deep down in his soul, he wishes for your happiness above all else. He writes this off by telling himself he just wanted to complain about something he's always had a pet peeve about.

For the Anon who sent me a personal ask on how they became a Jimin bias, you asked me not to post it so I won’t, but much of what you said I relate to a lot, for the rapline especially. That’s the problem. I’m barely keeping it together with just three of them. Adding Jimin to the mix will completely ruin me.

Y’all don’t know me in real life so it might sound like I’m exaggerating lol, but I’ve watched all seven members in BTS since debut. The opinions I have of every member today hasn’t changed that dramatically from my initial impressions of them. The things I love about Jungkook, Taehyung, SeokJin, Jimin, and the rapline, haven’t changed much for me. It’s just intensified. Meaning that the longer I’ve watched Jimin, the more I’ve felt the need to, sort of, make space for him. Because he’s just so…. he’s too much. When he’s cute, he’s *too* cute. Jimin is too hot, too intense, too kind, too pretty, too masculine, too feminine, when his voice goes high it’s *too* high, when it’s gritty it’s *too* gritty, too metallic, too everything. Jimin is too much. He demands a lot. He’s just like Yoongi in that way. Hoseok kinda just walks in and takes what is his. Namjoon kinda just stands there and those who belong to him find themselves crawling to him.

Jimin demands the world stop spinning, he forces space-time to freeze in place while he commands your full attention.

Jimin has always been… Jimin. It’s hard to explain. I know there’s this view that most of the fandom hates him, but hard as this might be to believe, I’m convinced it’s actually the opposite. Everybody sees him. And most people love him. He just inspires a particular kind of insanity in a lot of people, unfortunately including some very unstable and abusive people, and because he and the rest of the maknaeline happen to have the most biased fans, the rest of the fandom has to lock those parts of the fandom out the main spaces, and try to control for it. Very Imperfectly.

TIPS FOR LYING ONLINE:

If you don’t have a source make one up. I’ve sourced complete lies that are proven as lies if you click the article im “referring” to but nobody ever does.

Similar but different: the turning in a corrupted word doc because you didn’t finish your essay hack. Step one is providing a source no one will check. Step two is providing a source that could conceivably be checked but now gives you a 404 page, possibly due to how controversial the information is, possibly due to this being Lost Information from old internet.

What else. Inspect element is your best friend. Might be a little high concept for little ones. But the concept holds that the deeper a lie is embedded into something true the easier it goes down. When I made my fake omega covid news article I used the name of a real epidemiologist with a real twitter presence and I kept the side articles in my screenshot that were like Hoda Kotb shares her COVID experience and upcoming TODAY show guests and the other Real Articles that were published on the site. Iirc I took an article about James corden having covid and kept the shape of the surrounding paragraphs and then changed the relevant parts and stuck my lie in the middle. Which was more believable than whole cloth Making Stuff Up when I’m not an expert.

Kind of a mix of one and two but a text only lie is one that’s the easiest to clock as a lie because it’s the lowest effort and there’s no bolstering support (image). Related: an informative lie will raise more eyebrows than a reactive one. Saying “They blew up the chicken man last night” has people going. Source? Saying “oh my god I took a nap and now everyone is talking about the chicken man did something happen” “A MEMORIAL SERVICE? IN PHILLY?” more believable.

Four Seasons Manor (四季山庄): Set Layout, Part Two!

I found it. I finally found the second set. I'm so ridiculously proud of myself 😂 All details will be revealed and broken down shortly, here and in a third part, but first let me recap my Siji Manor drafting progress so far:

If you're stumbling over this post in the wild - hi! I draw architectural drafts of cdrama sets, as accurately to the show as I can. A huge amount of research goes into creating my art, and so far no set location has been as elusive as this one. All of my set design projects start with a lot of research and resource gathering, to ensure that I am drafting the sets as accurately as possible. One element of each of my finished pieces is, as you may know, a birdseye view of the set. I include this to show the spatial relationship of the architectural elements I draft, and to give the fictional location cohesion and comprehensibility as a "lived space," further enriching - I hope - your experience of my art and of the show itself.

This process, however, becomes incredibly complicated to achieve when 1) the set I am trying to draft is split across different film locations, especially if 2) I can't find one of the sets.

At the time of my last post, linked here, I had located the set used for the front courtyard of Siji Manor in Hengdian World Studio's Spring and Autumn Tang Park, (what I have begun to call the "exterior set"), and had ruled out the wider set as locations for the main "interior" set - the inner courtyards of Siji Manor where the majority of the scenes in episodes 24-29 take place.

Well friends, just over a year later, I have confirmed that my suspicions in my very first Siji Manor draft post were, in fact, true. The second shooting location for Siji Manor was inside one of Hengdian's film studios. It was filmed in the "Mansion Scene" set, in Huaxia Shed #2:

My journey to finding this set lead me through two other dramas, and to the discovery that this set was also used for part of the filming of WOH episode 5, in Sanbai Manor. By cross-checking all of these scenes, I've been finally able to identify all relevant buildings and map the main set for Siji:

I will begin by saying that, although I am confident of this layout as you see it above being Siji Manor, I am not certain that this is the full Mansion Scene in Huaxia Shed #2. This is because my only source for the photos above comes from this article, which also includes three photos I've been unable to place in relation to the above map, despite clearly being from the same area. Moreover, because of the lack of wide camera angles or even full use of this above set in WOH itself, my scale/placement of buildings in relation to each other is still a little off. I've also given myself some artistic license with minor parts of the landscaping. That being said, let me break down this set layout for you, and reveal Siji Manor to you all:

WKX and ZZS's rooms

Buildings 1 and 3 are used as WKX and ZZS's rooms respectively. My confirmation of this fact - and many more to come - comes from the drama Mysterious Lotus Casebook (MLC), in which we see a clearer view of the courtyard between the rooms itself, where the kitchen in WOH resides (labelled 2):

Firstly, how do I know that the kitchen where Chengling has his chicken showdown is outside WKX's room? Because we can see it outside in this screenshot:

And how do we know that this room, WKX's room, is the one on the left side of the screen in the Mysterious Lotus Casebook screenshot? Because that room, belonging to Yun Biqiu, matches the layout of WKX's room:

(Note that WKX's room is used as the Princess's room in episode 1 of WOH, and despite significantly different set dressing/modification, her room - WKX's room - bears the same structural layout as Biqiu's. But you probably just have to trust me on that latter point because they like to move walls and floors in the film studios.)

To verify building 3 as ZZS's room (which is likewise used as Li Xiangyi's from MLC), and to show that you can walk straight through this room from the kitchen (2) courtyard into the formal courtyard (5), I'm going to have to let these door panels do the heavy lifting for me:

Formal Courtyard

The snowy screenshot above brings us to what could be considered the "formal" courtyard of this mansion - the QHZ snow scene! It is the fact that this scene occurs with ZZS's room to the right (note those door panels) that makes me headcanon ZZS took up residence in QHZ's room on his return to Siji (and that WKX took Qin-furen's....).

There isn't much to say about this courtyard itself, but enjoy these screenshots from MLC:

Now, did you remember those other door panels? In MLC, Li Xiangyi walks from this courtyard around the side of his old room (again - note the door panels) past a small, private seating area for his/ZZS/QHZ's room - labelled as area 4.

This brings him, and us, along the walkway dividing the kitchen courtyard, and the main courtyard of this set. If you're struggling to follow along (as even I am at this point😵‍💫), this is the route I have taken you on so far:

I'm about to divert you into Sanbai Manor, WOH episode 5, for a look at area 7, and then we will dive into the main area of this Siji Manor set in part three.

So, surprise! This set is also briefly used for Chengling's room in Sanbai Manor. I thought I was crazy for this, but damn it, I was right. Here's a view of his "room" which is actually the side of the main hall (6):

It's at this point that I concede it might have just been easier to start this breakdown with the main courtyard and main hall. Whoops.

LMAO Clay I shit you not I was in the middle of writing an ask to *you* saying, first of all, no worries at all about the fucky tumblr tags haha this is the hellsite and I read that tag as sarcasm anyways so dw dw lol I know you're not like that haha 🫂.

And second of all, that I was nodding very emphatically reading your tags yeah I'm also quite conflicted- increasingly so frankly, and I can relate to your description of being *so* sad from it that it kind of falls flat? As for like, whether I find it satisfying from a narrative standpoint or not, *honestly* as more time passes the more I can feel my own opinions going from positive to... Mixed? I agree that the Swifts deserved more time, period (absolutely) and that there was so much left unexplored... And that it would have felt more satisfying if we got more with them...

Hm. With the interaction as it was, I honestly think I would have liked it much more if it happened like, midway through the season? Giving Nicky enough time to step up and really prove himself to Taylor? Though of course we return then to the issue of that family not having enough time in general!

Conversely... I think I could have been happier with Taylor's decision happening at the end here and simultaneously been *less* uh absolutely heartbroken if it had been delivered differently like, tonally? I suppose I feel like... Combining all of their previous interactions prior over the course of the season, the complications surrounding Nicky's abandoment to begin with (listen could my man have sent a letter now and again abso-fucking-lutely but bro also had all his friends turn against him and was tortured by the FBI who he didn't want hurting his family like it's not so black and white at all), and maybe most of all the fact that Nicky genuinely *was* trying to be there for Taylor post-reuiniting in Hell... Combining all those things, it's not that I think Taylor is wrong to decide still that his dad wasn't there for him before so he doesn't want him now, as sad as that is I think it's still very understandable and certainly *interesting*, but the *cruelty* in how he delivered that blow is what came as a bit of a shocker to me and just doesn't feel good to me with. Well with all those other things I mentioned. Again, that's if we're keeping this interaction at the very end here, having Taylor chew out his dad the way he did way earlier could have been great.

IS. Is where I'm currently at with that I think? Yeah lol. Like there's more thoughts for sure but I would surely go on several tangents haha.

Lately, for the past few years, I've been questioning my sexuality. I can appreciate people's good looks, but for men specifically, I felt ill at the thought of even dating them. Naturally, the next thing in my young brain that made sense was that I was a lesbian. Which was fine at the time, but I realized that I felt the same way with them, too. Not to the same extreme, but I didn't really fully imagine myself loving them romantically either. If I ever thought that my attraction to someone could lead to a relationship, I felt sick regardless of gender. At the time, I didn't know that being aromantic was an option. So I spent the later years forcing myself in the box of being either lesbian or bi, thinking that if I somehow believed hard enough, I could be like my peers. Into men (Since I was a girl) or being into women (since I have to like someone, right?). After learning about aromanticism, I finally felt like I could understand a part of myself. Of course it wasn't without difficulties. I still felt so alienated from my friends, who kept talking about romance and boys, trying to get me into the conversation. Even family started bugging me about when i would find "the one." I kept brushing them off, but I felt so lonely that I thought going back to lying to myself would fix it. Even now, that I fully accepted that part of me, I still think sometimes that something is wrong with me. But looking through tags, blogs, videos made me realize I'm not alone. So I'm getting better about it. Sorry for the long ask, I felt like getting it off my chest to someone who didn't personally know me. You don't have to respond or anything if you got this far, I just thought you were a nice person to do it with. :3

How old is your baby?: 5 in my post canon alternate universe (7-8 years after Borderlands 3)

Tell us about your baby!: She's the testtube biological baby of Sir Hammerlock & Wainwright Jakobs (which basically means she could aim and shoot a pistol at the age of 4) and has 4 siblings (one of which is also an oc, but is an adoptive kid, and the rest are canon characters who got adopted). She has a big plushie collection (some knitted or sewn by Wainwright, some crocheted by Hammerlock, some being gifts from extended family or the Crimson raiders) and also fucked up eldritch powers beyond human comprehension bc her parents are abominations from beyond the veil (my Borderlands rewrite AU is a mess haha) which she primarily uses to teleport all over the house, causing an understandable amount of problems. Clay is her weird uncle and she loves him. She's kinda based off Wednesday Addams because autism. Also she is autistic, the nicest weirdgirl on Eden-6, swears an unusual amount for a 5 year old (being around Wainwright del Frisco Jakobs-Hammerlock will do that to you) and often swaps between her Edenian (space southern) and her Hermesian (space british) accents bc yknow. Just listen to her dads speak and you'll see.

Anything else you want to add?: (1) Most people call her Reb for short but Wainwright calls her Rebby because yes. (2) She eventually grows to inherit the Jakobs corporation and generally sorta girlbossify but that's extreme future timeskip stuff I don't talk abt often because I feel cringe about it. (3) Her name continues on the general theme of Jakobs related things having biblical symbolism - Rebekah is Jacob's mother in the book of Genesis (if i remember correctly). sawyer hale is a kid who had a pretty hard knock life in a cyberpunk dystopia city. after deciding his dad kinda sucked, sawyer ran away and emancipated himself at 16 and moved into a different, nicer city and became a hermit for a while. afterwards, he proceeded to save the world twice; once he saved a cyberworld from the big bad capitalists and second he saved the universe from collapsing via terrible creature. as he goes through these adventures he learns how to be comfortable and happy with himself again.

also he destroyed his dad when he possessed a robot body. go kid!!

sawyer super loves tech but he gave it up for a while because Shitty Dad Ruining It For Him, but he eventually finds his passion again and makes phenomenal inventions. also he is the embodiment of Baby because all the adults around him want to scoop him up and carry him around for being a little issues boy with issues. they love singing and the arts in general, and they're very open-minded, which makes them a pretty good friend.

oh yeah all his adventures kinda messed up his biology so he's partially made of code now. and also has wings made of code. he can design them however he wants like retexturing game assets. YIPPIE!

So, you think you might have chicken pox? Well, it's a good thing your buddy here is a certified (for legal reasons I am absolutely not even on the path of certification) epidemiologist (Google definition for the folks who don't know: epidemiologists study epidemiology, which is the branch of medicine which deals with the incidence, distribution, and possible control of diseases and other factors relating to health. Aka the trends amongst infectious diseases) so here are some stats

If you have the chicken pox vaccine, you have only a 15-20% chance of catching chicken pox if you get exposed

If you are exposed and catch the virus, the symptoms will be incredibly mild with few blisters or in some cases, no blisters at all (just unraised red spots)

Also, if you have a bad fever right now and you have the chicken pox vaccine, you probably don't have chicken pox as people with the vaccine experience a much more mild fever (or no fever at all) if they catch it

And even if you do have chicken pox and you have the vaccine it will only last a short period of time

If you don't have a vaccine than idfk man sucks for you

That being said if you have had a different type of pox virus (I SERIOUSLY doubt you did because most other pox viruses are pretty rare/deadly and a lot dont even naturally exist or transmit to humans anymore but ya never know) like cowpox, monkeypox, smallpox, etc etc. and you somehow survived, you're less likely to catch a severe case if chicken pox (again this is highly highly unlikely to matter and I lowkey only included it to be a nerd)

If you do have chicken pox, here are some ways to help

Ointment, creams, moisturizers, etc like calamine lotion to help with itching

I've also heard putting oatmeal on the blisters helps with itching

Standard ibuprofen type over the counter medication to help reduce the fever

DRINK WATER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD KEEP HYDRATED IM SO SERIOUS

If you're up for it, try to drink some Gatorade, Powerade, Vitamin Water type stuff to help bring up electrolytes

Get rest, sleep, don't try to work through it

To avoid the rest of your family getting it, everyone needs to take the cleaning stuff up a notch. Wash your hands more than normal, Lysol, Germ-X, Clorox, become the ultimate germaphobes, all of you

Ok so I saw you say you don’t like jealousy in your fics and you would go into it more if someone was curious. I am curious lol.

Let me preface this by saying that this is my own perspective, and not meant to be a judgement against anyone who likes to read or write jealousy. If that’s your thing, godspeed! We are live and let live ‘round these parts.

To me, jealousy feels like a symptom of a much bigger, more poisonous issue in a relationship.

For the person getting jealous, it suggests a couple of things to me. That that person doesn’t trust their partner(s): they worry that their partner(s) finds someone else funnier, or smarter, or prettier, or just generally enjoys spending time around that someone else more, and that as a result their partner(s) might not like them as much, or leave them, or something else terrifying like that. And so they may do one of two things (that I see, obviously there could be more): either stew quietly in their own insecurities, or project those insecurities outward, and either (a) make their partner(s) feel bad about having other friends, close relations, etc, or (b) demand that their partner(s) not have other friends, close relations, etc. And denying someone access to people who love them and enrich their lives? That seems very unkind to me. Either way—stewing or demanding sacrifices by their partner(s)—seems like a sign of an unhealthy relationship.

And for a person who is deliberately making their partner(s) jealous? Unless it’s done in a respectful way (their partner knows it’s a good-natured joke, etc.), that—again—just seems unkind to me, and not a sign of a healthy relationship.

The bottom line for me is, either you trust your partner(s) or you don’t. If you do, then there’s nothing to be jealous of: you know where you stand with your partner(s), you know you feel about them and they about you, and you want them to be as loved and happy as possible, including having as many friends and close relationships and people who are fond of them as can be found. Love and fondness and caring aren’t a pie in my perspective, where loving one person means there’s less love for others.

And if you don’t trust your partner(s), then, well. That’s the answer right there, to me.

Eobard Thawne - (Flash) AU Chapter 8

“So how long are you going to dance around the Barry situation?”

Iris begins fidgeting with her glasses at the question Eobard asks. He casually sipped his coffee. It’s a near miracle sometimes that they had time for themselves. They both had been craving Jitters.

“It’s not dancing, I'm just waiting for the right time.”

“When exactly will that be?” Her gaze lowers. Now Eobard is a bit worried.

“You don’t understand. This whole time I was under the impression that he had feelings for (Y/N). You see the way they are.”

He gets why Iris would think that. When he first met Barry he was a bit jealous himself. You had met him in college and it was like you were inseparable. He was with you constantly. But Eobard wasn’t blind either. When Barry met Iris there was a clear change. The lingering gazes, soft smiles. He knew that look because he’d been sending them to you for most of his life.

“It must have been relieving to know your feelings are mutual.”

Iris nods shyly.

“There were times where I thought there was something but I always ended up talking myself out of it. But when (Y/N) mentioned that there’s a version of Barry and I in another universe that are married I..I just can’t help but imagine it. You know. Logically it would make sense. If you take into account all the variations of time and space and then you-”

Eobard cuts off her scientific rant before she can get ahead of herself.

“I get what you’re saying.”

“R-Right. Sorry. It’s just a little overwhelming. Constantly worrying about how someone feels about you.”

Hell, he could relate. He still had no idea where he stood with you.

The alarm on his phone pulls his focus, and Iris responds the same to her cell. The call response read speedster.

Fear crossed Iris's face.

“Call Joe and Cisco!”

Iris nodded, and Eobard did a little quick walk to the door so he could find a safe place to take off. The second he was secluded, he took off for the lab. He pulled in to see Caitlin there with her hands lifted, and the white suited man made his jaw clenched.

“Goodspeed.” Eobard seethed.

He was in his red suit in seconds, and when he saw pink streaks rushing in at his side, his worried gaze turned to you.

“(Y/N)..”

You looked ready for battle.

“I got the notification. We need to stop him.”

He wondered how you were so calm, then he remembered that you didn’t have those memories.

“Nice to see you.”

Godspeed’s chilling voice is a bit terrifying. Eobard’s face twists in anger.

“DON’T TALK TO HER!!”

He shoots forward to plant a blow, but Godspeed ducks, kicking Eobard in the stomach. You rush in to try and provide back up. Maybe grab him so Caitlin can plant a blow. But the second you’re within his space, you’re grabbed by the throat, you gasped as you’re lifted off the ground. Caitlin looks scared, and Eobard is trying to pick himself off the ground.

When he sees your predicament, his breathing is staggered.

You’re clutching at your neck, and he just laughs.

“Still so slow. What should I do with you? Kill you here so your friends can watch you die?”

Eobard’s face shows nothing but rage. He wants to do something, anything. But even a step forward could prove fatal to you.

Godspeed tilts his head to the side. The white sparks bouncing off his body are still very much present.

“There’s something different about you. I can’t really put my finger on it. It doesn’t matter.”

He lifts his free hand that’s vibrating and Eobard panics. Caution is thrown to the wind, because he speeds forward to intercept the attack. Godspeed’s intention is to drive his hand into your chest.

Eobard doesn’t make it, because Godspeed’s hand doesn’t even connect. Right as it makes contact with the front of your suit, a surge of energy fires back. Godspeed is thrusted back, right into the hallway. Your body drops and Eobard catches you. When he looks up, Godspeed is gone.

You’re all a little speechless.

The hunt was on to find Godspeed. When you walked back into the cortex hoping for an update, you could feel the way everyone’s eyes stayed on you.

“Okay, can someone tell me why you all look like I lost a puppy.”

With what just happened you get why they may be uneasy. But Eobard was acting strange prior to that. So now you need answers.

“You really don’t know?” Barry asks.

“Know what!?”

“Godspeed is the one who killed your parents. He tried to kill Joe.” Barry explains.

Iris looks uneasy, and Barry places a hand on her shoulder to bring comfort.

The information makes your heart clench painfully.

“Y-You almost died saving Joe and I the last time he attacked.” Iris says. There’s guilt in her eyes, doubled with fear.

“He’s spent his entire life trying to find ways to hurt you."

It finally made sense.

Godspeed was your version of the Reverse Flash.

“He’s dangerous, and faster than the last time.” Eobard evaluates.

“But somehow you fought back. We still don’t know what that was.”

You didn’t either.

“Whatever the case, he’ll be back. We need to be ready. We will get him this time.” Eobard walks out of the room with new determination and they send him worried looks.

You realize why. He could have killed you.

Now you need to know how you survived.

I love Sakura and Mondo because I am, and always have been, a complete sucker for buff people who are actually so soft. Mondo really made himself cry when he talked to Makoto about his dog and I will never be able to get over that. Sakura is the ultimate martial artist and people are always terrified of her at first glance but then it turns out she’s sweet and soft and feminine and cares deeply for her friends and her moral principals. Also they’re so gay so like that automatically gives them a million points

MAKOTO my darling dearest boy is so delightful, so optimistic, and also such a little freak (affectionately). He is truly the glue that holds the group together, he is so relatable, he’s secretly a snarky little bitch, and he’s the littlest guy ever in the world 🥰 Also something else that not only pertains to him but also the other protags as well that I love is the journey from being so insecure so realizing their true capabilities, which I just love for them

Gundham my beloved, was instantly so high in my list because he is A Goth, he has Hamsters, and he is so unapologetic about who he is. He wears all black, he loves eyeliner, he loves animals, he Talks Like That, he knows who he is and he likes to have fun, and he really does come to love and care for his friends and classmates by the end. He makes connections. He’s so autistic but that doesn’t stop anyone from loving him. He is everything to me ❤️

Keebo was immediately my fave in v3 because he is also such an autistic representation and he is immediately so sassy in scene 1, he is straightforward and intelligent, and his whole existence raises so many interesting philosophical questions about AI which I will probably talk more about in its own post, and he’s just so pure, so lovely. I love him. Best boy.

Shuichi baby. How can I even do him justice. He’s shy, he’s insecure, he’s a little emo boy (I see all black and I pass out and hit reblog), and he just needs a hug so bad. Also his arc is so satisfying to me, he undergoes grief, anxiety, depression, and he still comes out the other side stronger than he ever was. Also sassy, he has that signature protag sass and I love it.

Miu was a fave because she’s literally sooo annoying like why is she like that? Is she insecure too? Probably! But her methods of coping are so opposite to anyone else in the series (apart from toko/syo who I also like for the same reasons) that it’s just so comical. She hilarious, she’s also unapologetic, and she’s really out here just saying whatever. We love to see it.

Hajime and Nagito are so prevalent in my mind that I don’t even know where to start. There’s so much to say, and so much of it has been said already, but that won’t stop me from trying. They are mirrors, they are complimenting colours, they are victims of circumstance, they are the only ones who understand each other. They are so snarky, they’re smartasses, they’re simultaneously the smartest and dumbest people in the room at any given moment, they’re so insecure it hurts, but they’re so strong in their convictions that nothing short of the end of the world can shake them. As characters they are complex, they are funny, they are tragic, they go and in hand like chilli and dark chocolate, and that I think is what makes them each compelling as their own individual people as well. I have so many thoughts I cannot even hope to articulate. They’re just so. Soo. AAHG. Ya know?

[Career x Advice] Gon & Killua

Will Gon and Killua become actual hunters in Hunter x Hunter?

In the current situation, they are rookies without specialization. Gon is nenles. Killua takes care of Alluka and must avoid dangerous adventures to stay safe by her side. But their story is not over. What are their prospects?

KILLUA: THE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

Killua’s hunter card is not simply an item to travel with his sister for free. This card is a part of Killua’s identity. Killua wanted it. For him, becoming a hunter was just as important as becoming Gon’s friend. In Greed Island arc, Killua discards his father’s work mindset: “That’s how my old man operates. But I’m no longer an assassin. I’m a Hunter!!! Well, unofficially...”

Having the same profession as your friend means that you can work together and stick together like you promised each other at the beginning of the journey. Killua managed to merge the identities of a hunter and a friend. If Killua and Gon eventually work as hunters, they will always stay connected as members of the Hunter Association.

Killua is skillful at reinventing himself and giving his experience a new meaning. He changes weakneses into strengths. His growth steadily contradicts and counteracts his family. Torture by electricity? Electric nen. Nen needles? Godspeed to stop the needle and attack first. A vow to never betray your friends? Use the vow to save a sister and a friend! It would be logical to suggest that instead of killing people, he will save people. This type of job is also consistent with the author’s theme of redemption for past mistakes and crimes.

Killua is devoted, caring, and deeply protective. He prefers to live not for the sake of something, but for the sake of somebody. Apart from protecting Gon and Alluka he saved Ikalgo and instinctively killed Ikalgo’s enemies during the Palace invasion. In Chimera Arc he single-handedly disrupted mass annihilation in the Eastern Goruto and saved countless lives. Killua is a national hero in this country!

Work of this kind could be related to military/police. There’s a Crime Hunter subcategory represented by Mizaistom Nana (“a type of Hunter who tries to solve mysterious cases in the crime world”). But I’m also considering Lost Hunter (“a type of Hunter who specializes in seeking those from whom contact has been lost”) and this is why:

Loupe Highland searches for lost hunters and looks for contacts of various useful people. At present, he is either alive or killed in the Election arc, leaving the position vacant. Killua’s skills can be put directly to practice here thanks to rare nen, experience in espionage and battle. He can search for lost people, rescue kidnapped and jailed people, subvert mass homicide and save victims of natural disaster. This path could be morally gratifying and bring Killua at least two hunter stars.

Electricity can be used in medicine for CPR and cardiac pacemakers. Electrical stimulation speeds up healing of chronic wounds. Killua can even temporarily restore electricity in a building or the whole city in case of an emergency. Nowadays, electricity is everywhere. Electricity is life.

It’s reasonable to object that this work is very dangerous. This objection is valid, unless Togashi portrays Killua’s job in a sweet robin hood manner at the end of the tale.

Killua devoted his life to Alluka, but he’s born for great deeds, and Alluka surely values his potential. She promised to let him go not only for Gon’s sake, but for Killua’s own sake too. Killua is light that illuminates darkness in times of despair.

GON: FROM DARKNESS INTO LIGHT

Gon is tricky. He may reject the concept of power and remain “normal” forever. Many readers believe that Gon will become a Beast Hunter (he confirmed his love for animals in Ch 40) or a Botanical Hunter. He’s extremely smart and knowledgeable about both, so it’s highly likely and almost certain! But I believe that his future mostly depends on his type of nen. Let me explain.

If Gon regains nen, he could change into a Specialist like his father, or an Emitter like his teen dad Leorio. Both these ideas are popular and are great. I totally agree, but i would like to ADD the most uncool suggestion: Gon will remain an Enhancer.

...but in a brand new way. The Sussession arc has an interesting panel in ch 388. More importantly, Kurapika is the one who speaks:

Kurapika continues, looking at Bill: “You have my gratitude. It’s rare for a male to be an enhancer with a support type ability. Since most of them would choose to take it in a direction where they could increase their battle power.”

That is exactly the mistake Gon made.

Indeed, he used nen to strengthen properties of rocks and floor plates (“support”), but he did it for fights. Personally, I’ve always thought that Gon’s weakest attack was “paper” (emission) because he’s incapable of sharing. He’s a hunter, a soldier and a selfish kid (in an innocent childish way). He was, as Kurapika noted, an Enhancer who “chose to increase his own battle power”.

When Gon didn’t know what hatsu to create, Kurapika was the first person he called for advice. He asked Kurapika to be his coach. Ironically, Kurapika IS a coach now, as if he realized the wisdom of Gon’s proposal.

If Gon becomes a supportive Enhancer, he will apply nen for creation instead of destruction. If you think it’s a weakness, I still believe that Togashi thinks otherwise: his story shows that giving is receiving, and love is the most powerful force in the world. This ability type will not prevent Gon from animal and botanical studies, rather the opposite.

Supportive nen requires a kind heart and a strong life force. Gon has both. His full potential is equal to Meruem and Netero. If he reverses his ability from destruction into support, we will witness someone with the power of a divine creator. A godlike teenager who regenerates wounds, reconstructs ruined cities and restores tropical rainforests and dying species. “The light that shines upon all”.

In short, if the expedition to the Dark Continent causes a planetary crisis, our hero will save the day.

This transformation would make Gon similar to Killua. Killua saves lives instead of killing, while Gon rebuilds instead of destruction. Killua’s electric nen is extremely rare and combines attack and defence. Likewise, Gon may become a rare universal Enhancer, probably one of the kind, who uses nen both ways but chooses wisely. Such ability will reflect his newfound balance between light and darkness.

A HOMAGE TO THE WHALE ISLAND?

Hatsu (発(ハツ), "Release"/"Act") is one's personal expression of Nen. Gon came up with jajanken in dedication to his birthplace. Can he draw a bigger inspiration while reconnecting roots at home?

The whales are one of the most ancient mythical creatures that appear in the nordic, biblical and Asian lores. In Vietnam, among other places, whales hold a sense of divinity. The god of the seas, according to Chinese folklore, was a large whale with human limbs. The Qur'an and the biblical Book of Jonah tell the story of Jonah being swallowed by “a great fish”, often depicted in art and culture as a whale. In the Succession arc, the expedition travels on the Whale ship to the Dark Continent.

The Whale Island could also be an allusion to Slavic mythology/folklore, where the world exists on 3 whales. There is a fairytale about a whale which was punished by God and turned into an island for swallowing the ships. Let’s hope that Gon’s home doesn’t wake up like a volcano!

We must not forget that Gon’s nen nodes were prematurely unsealed by Wing. It is a forbidden practice. Gon needs time off to grow, heal and discover nen on his own terms. The Whale could become Gon’s hatsu to represent his “true self” and “mature self”.

If we suggest that Gon is a foil of Netero, the puzzle falls into place. I am very very subjective and speculative from now on, but the guess is still a guess? Let’s see the common features between the two.

1) Netero meeting the kids wasn’t just for fun. Rather than playing a game, it looked like a trope where “a wise teacher” observes potential successors to his post - in this case sons of Ging Freecs and Silva Zoldyck.

2) Netero was also an Enhancer. He obtained this ultimate power when he reached “enlightment” in the forest. It’s highly likely that Gon will try the same method, meditating in the forest in his free time.

3) Netero’s ultimate power was Guanyin Bodhisattva (Kannon in Japan). Her Chinese name means "[The One Who] Perceives the Sounds of the World". Her second alternative Chinese name means “Lord who Gazes down on the World”. She is the goddness of mercy and compassion. Netero conjures Kannon to protect humanity but ultimately fights to kill and destroy.

In contrast to Netero and his heavenly deity, Gon is an “earthly” person, attached to nature, home and friends. His hatsu would most likely represent the deity of the Earth. This would also make Gon and Netero complementary opposites.

All animal options for Gon’s hatsu (in no particular ranking)

Frog (Gon sits on a frog in Volume 1)

Turtle (if the Hunter planet rests on the Cosmic Turtle)

Adult Gon - the Enhancer and nature lover - could study and restore flora and fauna and help Killua and other hunters on their missions and adventures. It may also be interesting to see adult Gon as the new chairman of the Hunter Association, provided that it doesn’t cease to exist. Gon could improve the rules in that place. After all, the statement that all hunters are selfish is far from being true.
