(A/N: because I've been asked that a few times, yes I am from Germany LMAO and so is Claire)

Event sypnosis: you, Claire (@deerangle3 ) and Mao (me) are assistants in the Neo Egoist League

-the trip goes surprisingly well. No chaos, no fighting, etc. That's mostly thanks to you, Claire and Mao because you're able to equal out the disharmony between some players (cough Isagi and Kaiser cough)

-the day actually only consisted of a bit of sightseeing and walking around the city because the players from Germany didn't get a chance to see Japan, since everyone has to stay in Blue Lock all the time

-you walk past a restaurant with German food and the players from Germany really wanna go there. Cause, you know. They've been only been served Japanese food in Blue Lock

-after a bunch of begging Noa gives in and all of you go in there

-it's just regular Deutsche Pommesbude food, like fries and Bratwurst and stuff

-Kaiser doesn't admit how excited he is to get German food again, but you know on the inside he's cheering like a little kid when their mom makes their favourite food, so you tease him a bit about it

-Kaiser actually orders multiple things but only eats like half of them and Ness has to eat the leftovers

-Gagamaru eats so fucking much and he would probably eat even more if you wouldn't have stopped him

-Birkenstock consumed 3 Currywurst with fries in 10 minutes (A/N: I have a weird emotional attachment to Birkenstock soo.... I had to add him)

-at first, Raichi complained about the food, before he even tried it. Claire started an argument with him and somehow got him to shut up and just try the food. He also ended up liking it but didn't admit it (he doesn't want Claire to win the argument)

-you share food with Kurona because he's not really hungry but still wants to try something

-Yukimiya gets interested in the food, so he asks a bunch of questions to Claire and Mao (if you're German, he will ask you as well.) He also wants to know about other German food! That starts the idea of asking Ego to provide some more food variety in Blue Lock

-Kunigami really hates being there and wishes he would have stayed in Blue Lock. He doesn't even eat anything. You try to get him to join in on the conversations but he ignores you every time

-you keep offering him some fries and he ends up accepting those (without saying a word, tho)

-Isagi is a bit weirded out by the food so he sticks to eating fries

-then Kaiser starts an argument with Isagi about him "disrespecting" German food and usually you would stop their arguments, but this one is way too funny so you let them argue for a bit

-the bread vs rice debate (like in that one Blue Lock Additional Time) starts between the entire team, and then they ask you, Claire and Mao for your opinions but you guys refuse to answer. But Mao is starting to have an internal crisis because as a half German she loves bread but as a half Thai she loves rice and you just see her spiraling into an identity crisis for 10 seconds. Then she snaps out of it because Claire makes a joke about putting rice on bread and force-feeding it to Igaguri

-Igaguri is NOT amused by that joke

-the day is actually some of the most lighthearted time you ever got with the entire team. Mostly because everyone forgets about soccer and being competitive for a bit

I'm proud of my boy, Nanase, but saying Kaiser Vs Nanase is a bit.. farfetched. I could say Kaiser Vs Loki once the latter is subbed in, but it doesn't make sense because of two reasons:

Loki isn't a player in PxG. He is the coach and till now, we have only seen Coach Vs Coach. Further his statement about surpassing Noa gives us a hint of Noa Vs Loki happening.

Loki will only be in the field for three minutes.

It'll be an interesting thing to see since there are four more benched players (of Blue Lock):

Yukimiya Kenyu

Kurona's sub in is low-key necessary since his ranking dropped from 12 to 16 and the same could be said for Yukimiya because he went from 9 to 14.

IGA-DA-GOAT-GURI and Neru literally have zero bids, and considering Noa's behaviour when Kiyora's sub in got halted because of Isagi, I do think Noa will sub in these two to give them some kind of exposure, so that they, at least, have a club where they could go—I think a really funky type of man will find Igaguri really humourous and hence, will invite him in his club.

Now, the two main stuffs I wanted to rant about are:

Hiori Vs Charles

Taking in account of Hiori's gameplay ever since he was introduced, many in the Fandom had correctly predicted about Charles Vs Hiori.

The main takeaway from this matchup is that alongside Reo, I think Hiori might play as one of the main midfielder in U-20 World Cup. He has already been called as someone with an ego alike that of Sae's, so Hiori Vs Sae or Hiori + Sae gameplay might happen in the future.

I also think that no matter what's the result of BM Vs PxG is, Charles will, probably, acknowledge Hiori as his main rival or something and form a rivalry. Charles will also level up a lot because of Hiori and vice versa.

It'll be an interesting thing to see the possible reaction of Hiori's parents when he'll return back home—I hope he traumatises back his parents or maybe his parents will change for good and support Hiori for real this time since aiming to become the best midfielder is an amazing thing too.

Kiyora Vs Karasu

This matchup isn't yet confirm (as of 25 March, 2024), I just think it's plausible because of recent chapters' panels, but if it came to be true, then it can give us a lot of information about Kiyora's gameplay.

One interesting thing to note is that Karasu's gameplay includes putting pressure on his opponents and breaking them while guess what Kiyora dislikes? Yes, atrophy, which can be interpreted as something breaking. One more thing that is noteworthy is that Karasu was provoking Isagi during the tryouts in the third selection and guess what Kiyora likes? Yes, someone provoking him.

Karasu is a very witty person and physically comparing them, Kiyora stands no chance, so it can only be a battle of wits and if Kiyora wants to truly defeat him, then he needs to pull up some smartass moves to deceive him.

Honestly, comparing some of their traits, these two seem like a really good matchup to eachother.

I have some unpopular opinions. Sorry that they're long and became a bit ranty.

I like Igaguri and the Wanima brothers.

I wish Reo got more meaningful interactions with characters besides Nagi, it feels like atm he has no friends outside of Nagi (RIP Zantetsu, Chigiri is Nagi's friend but hasn't been shown as being more than "friend of a friend" with Reo). He's one of the best-written characters (especially whenever Nagi isn't in the scene), it's sad how he's so often reduced by some fans to just being a Nagi simp whose entire world revolves around Nagi and who will die if Nagi spends even a millisecond breathing the same air as Isagi.

Nagi and Chigiri's friendship is underrated and I wish we got to see more of it. It's just a genuine normal friendship, Chigiri is Nagi's first normal friend with no strings attached, they just became friends by fooling around. They even continue hanging out (with Bachira too) after Isagi leaves to see Tada-chan despite Nagi saying he was going to leave too.

Rin-Isagi is the most boring of all the rivalries in the series. Their personalities, designs and playstyles don't clash enough for what is seemingly set up as being the story's main rivalry. It also doesn't help how one-sided it is for most of the story and we don't get to see any of it after Rin acknowledges Isagi as a rival. They feel too similar atm, so it comes across more as a minor rivalry (like Niko-Isagi) instead of a major one (Kaiser-Isagi, Shidou-Rin).

Speaking of Rin rivalries, Rin-Bachira could have been a great one. Bachira needs a proper rival, he's pretty friendly with most of the relevant cast and outside of Isagi, none of his relationships with the rest of the cast really stand out except for him being a bit passive-aggressive with Rin and Shidou. He has a lot of personality, design and playstyle clashes with Rin that it would have been fun to watch/read. A bit of a wasted opportunity.

Hey @08theverysmallhuman here’s a fellow Igaguri fan. As for the Wanima brothers, I don’t really have much of an opinion on them. We haven’t seen big bro in a while.

And Reo is friends with Isagi! We don’t see them together much, but these two has had several meaningful conversations. This one is my favorite:

I agree with you though that Reo deserves more friends! He’s more than just a Nagi simp.

And oh, I’d love to see more of Nagi and Chigiri just hanging out. Maybe we’d get to see more of it if the manga shows us the aftermath of the Germany vs England match on nagireo’s side. I think Nagi and Reo are gonna have another conflict soon. When that happens, Chigiri can be there for Nagi.

As for the Rin-Isagi rivalry, I actually think it’s similar to Kaiser-Isagi but of a lower level since Kaiser is on a higher level. Both the Rin and Kaiser rivalries are similar in that Rin and Kaiser are basically just better versions of Isagi. What Isagi learns from both of them is a more advanced way of seeing the field–improved spatial awareness, so to speak.

And actually, I don’t think Rin is Isagi’s main rival. Rin is only the main rival in the Second Selection and u20 arc. In the NEL arc, the main rival is Kaiser.

After ch202, I think we’ll see more variety in the Isagi rivalries where it isn’t just Isagi vs Better Isagi. Isagi has achieved metavision, which is probably the peak of his spatial awareness weapon. Now, he needs to work on his physical skills to really be the best striker.

May I also push my agenda that Isagi’s main rival/final boss is going to be Bachira? Bachira is a very skilled player, and skills are what Isagi lacks the most. Not to mention the contrast in how they operate: logic vs intuition. There’s a lot of build-up for it too. I’m gonna have to write a meta on it someday.

And yesss, I also really want Bachira to have his own rival. Rin-Bachira would be interesting, but so is Kaiser-Bachira. But those two are already Isagi’s, so I hope the rival is a new character or a character not yet explored much. I’m hoping it’s Aomori’s Messi, Nishioka, who we are yet to see. Bachira-Ness and Bachira-Kurona would be good if author wants to explore Bachira’s midfielder potential. But personally, I prefer if it’s a striker vs striker rivalry. And seriously, among the list of possible striker rivals, only Bachira-Isagi has been built up a lot.

A post I’ve been wanting to make for a while is of the nicknames Shidou’s called others in JP. Most of them are exactly the same as what’s in the translation by Pair of Two but I kinda wanna highlight Shidou’s constant use of -chan for the other boys.

This is for Chapters 88~148 and pretty long so I’m sorry in advance :)

Igarashi:

He gets called mainly Igaguri/Igaguri-chan.

Kunigami:

Kunigami is referred to as “Hero/Hero-kun” and interestingly he’s the only character that Shidou uses -kun for so far. I wonder why?

Reo:

Reo kinda has a funny one. It’s “Murasaki chonmage” with「ちょんまげ」chonmage referring to his teeny ponytail/bun. So Purple Top-Knot.[EDIT: I somehow mixed up ちゃん and ちょん but it's fixed now! It'sdefinitely not murasaki-chan lol]

Yukimiya:

So far he’s only been referred to as “Goggle Man”. At least one other character I recall has called Yukimiya this as well.

Isagi:

Isagi has been called by his full name, Isagi-chan, and there’s also「チョロ男」. I tried to figure this one out with a friend. 「チョロチョロ/ちょろちょろ」 is an onomonopia used for small animals skittering around quickly, which would make sense for Isagi since he’s a) smaller than Shidou and b) had been popping up in places where Shidou wasn’t expecting during the match. So skittering boy or darting boy? Though it’s not really easy to make that into a sensible phrase in English? This got translated to “Lover Boy” in the Fan Scan.

Rin:

Rin is fun. He gets called by his full name, Rin-chan, RinRin, 「下ますげ」”under eyelashes” 「下ますげ弟」 “under eyelashes little brother”, and 「お兄ちゃん大好きっ子ちゃん」which if you wanted to do a direct translation I would say just says “Big brother loving kid”, which feels like a mouthful just to call him a brocon. Once Rin goes into flow he gets called 「ベロ凛」 “bero Rin”; bero means tongue, while berobero is the onomonopia for licking, so “Licky Rin” would be what makes the most sense.

Sae:

Alongside 「天才」 “Genuis” like everyone else calls him, he gets called by his full name, Sae-chan, 「下ますげ兄」 “under eyelashes elder brother”. He uses Sae-chan the most!

Gagamaru:

Gagamaru is 「ちょんまげ丸」 chonmagemaru, which combines chonmage, a top-knot ponytail style and the maru kanji from his name. Shidou also refers to him as 「ちょんまげGK」 “Top-Knot Goal Keeper”.

Sendou:

Sendou... Gets it bad from both Sae and Shidou lol. Shidou (+Sae) calls him 「ヘボストライカー」 which roughly means “Poor/Unskilled(you could also use Shitty if you’re feeling especially mean) Striker” . Additionally, this one is funny:

This is “furuchin sutoraika”. Furuchin means to have one’s penis exposed, and with the context of Sendou and his new resolve to marry a hollywood actress, not a Gravure idol like Sae has been teasing him about since they first met, it seems like Shidou is calling Sendou “Striker with his dick out” or “Striker who thinks with his dick”. That’s kind of clunky for dialogue, so it makes sense that “dickface striker” was used instead!

Karasu:

Karasu only gets called Karasu-chan so far. But with the both of them being on PXG we might see if that still holds as the only name.

End Note:

Nicknames aside, from what I know, Shidou is being very overfamiliar with everyone he speaks with and insists on referring to everyone with the cutesy -chan rather than -san or -kun (Again, interestingly enough the only character that he seems to have used -kun with is when referring to Kunigami as Hero-kun once).  As far as I’m aware, Japanese boys don’t really go around calling each other “-chan” generally unless they’re close childhood friends? (Think how Midoriya Izuku from Boku no Hero insists on calling Bakugou Katsuki Kacchan even into their teens. This is in contrast with Kaminari Denki who seems to call Bakugou Kacchan a couple times not out of closeness but just to tease him).

The only character shown to be bothered by his overfamiliarity is Rin though lol. 

“Who are you calling RinRin, damn bug.”

Aiku also uses -chan sometimes!

Here, he calls Shidou 「仔犬ちゃん」”koinu-chan” which means Puppy. I’m not sure why the translation was squirt in the Fan Scans?

Sae gets called 「天才ちゃん」tensai-chan which is just Genius(-chan)

During the whole cops and robbers speech of his, he calls Isagi(?) 「泥ちゃん」”doro-chan” or just Thief/Robber(-chan)
