I find it very funny that for other characters it's okay to argue they were written in an ooc way but not for jason. Every single thing jason has done is canon, no don't look at my fav doing something ooc they were written by someone who doesn't understand their character.

That is wild. Jason fans don't have the right to claim that for some reason. For any other character you can claim they're ooc/someone doesn't understand their values but not jason he's just a shitty character who's a villain.

And don't get me started about the cop argument (again). How do you hate a fictional character so much that you insist they're a cop because they kill people and you ignore the other vigilantes that are oh so morally righteous that are doing cop shit, but oh it's fine they don't kill anyone. Vigilantism is illegal irl, batman works with cops, batman and the others beat criminals up and throw them in jail. Your morally correct favs are working outside the law but it's fine because they kinda work with cops it's chill. Excessive force may lead to death but if you don't see it in a panel it doesn't exist.

It's not jason that drives people out of "his" city if they don't agree with his methods. It's not jason that works with cops regularly yet people somehow never argue that he's copaganda.

Dieting as a neurospicy person is a fucking nightmare tbh because you tell your brand new dietician you can't eat something because the texture makes you gag, and they treat you like you're a moron that can't tell the difference between a donut and an apple. Anyway, I'm ranting, because despite losing over 30lbs on my own, they're not really encouraging me in any useful capacity - I'm about 180lbs FYI - and blaming all my illnesses on that, so I'm trying to do this out of spite, but I have such a limited palette and aversions to so many foods, it's fucking hard, man.

There are actually so many takes people have in this fandom be it through headcanons/fanart/general thoughts that make me wanna fist fight sometimes but you know what is best to do? Block/disengage/mute/ignore - whatever it is that I need to do to never see it again and I take responsibility for what I consume. Even though sometimes it's people who are my mutuals and friends that I generally enjoy connecting with. Sometimes we don't see eye to eye and that is perfectly okay!

But also...it would be super nice to be able to click on a tag/fanart/whatever and not see fighting or negativity or general asshole behavior. It would be SUPER nice if passive-aggressive tags weren't added to everything. Because I can disagree with your interpretation of something and not like it without it meaning I'm being a jerk. Without it meaning I'm being vague about someone or something. I'm not obligated to engage with things I don't agree with or like. But people can have different thoughts and that is okay. It stops being okay when you tell me that my thoughts are wrong and you're right and because you're "right" I should go fuck myself. Canon is canon, fanon is fanon and everything else outside of what is actually in the books is speculation. Everyone is guessing and whenever the next fucken book comes out, you'll know if you're "right" even though at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter because being right isn't the point, it's about actually enjoying the stupid books.

When people who have been in this fandom for years tell you they're burnt out, you can't wonder why when general fan behavior is crusty as hell. These characters aren't going to come out of the book and fuck you. Go eat some grass, touching it isn't enough.

Day 7 - Play stupid games

We have an outside counsel we use when I get too busy to handle a certain part of the visa process for my cases, but no matter what I say to her to communicate the urgency of a situation, I always have to be on top of it still. I can't trust her to just take the reins and finish it.

She'll be looped in on all emails, including emails that should trigger immediate action on her part, but I still have to chase her down. Sometimes I have to forward a client's email to her -- an email that is addressed to her -- and tell her to respond to the client. That is INSANE.

We're having a zoom meeting tomorrow to try to get on the same page with this. If things don't improve, we're not going to keep using her. Not two weeks ago she said she had bandwidth for a lot more cases. But I might as well just do it myself at this point.

One problem with s2 of TUA was that you can't tell me Reginald would've looked at a man who told him he was his son from the future and that Reggie'd used the serum he'd used on Pogo on him and not be fucking fascinated by that. You're saying the alien scientist just didn't care? No fucking way. One look at Luther's body and some tests and he'd prove it was true, and ask a couple questions and find out he's telling the truth about the rest of it. It wouldn't just be the serum thing too, you know he'd love to find out about the time travel shit. In the comics this man built a portal to the moon you know he wants to hear about time travel. And know the future! All the shit Luther could tell him! Plus the whole 43 babies born out of nowhere and that Reggie has a fucking superhero team. There is no fucking way he wouldn't keep Luther.

The siblings should've found Luther working for Reggie. He'd be keeping him superficially as a body guard but really Luther's just his pet experiment. And Luther would accept it. Because he left season 1 having lost his dad who he hung his whole life on, and now he's in the past without even his siblings to lean on. Nevermind having just gone 4 years alone, he'd cling to him. The first thing he did in canon was go to Reginald. And Grace, his mom, is there, even Pogo. He wouldn't be happy per se but at least he'd feel like he had some meaning again, was useful, and useful specifically to his dad. And because he's not 'Number One' because the Academy doesn't exist Reginald would call him Luther, which he's never done in his life, and Luther would kill to hear that.

I think what makes Super Paper Mario stand out from many of the other plot-based Mario games is the motivation of the villains. (And no, I have not played all of them, but I'm familiar enough with the major titles to take a leap with this idea here).

You can write a laundry list of bad guys who have wanted to take over the world: Smithy and his gang want to reforge it (literally) in their image. The Shadow Queen wants to rule over a dark, new reality. Cackletta wants the Beanstar to fulfill her crazed wishes of destruction and power. Antasma wants command through the Dream World. Princess Shroob wants, and maybe even needs, to a degree, to siphon off the life force of the Toads in an interesting twist on an alien species' resource issues. In fact, one of the few antagonists we encounter who is not 100% fueled by power-lust is King Boo, who walks a tighrope between a pedestrian desire to rule reality via ghost army and a need to exact revenge, a tightrope he eventually falls off of decidedly in the direction of bloodthirsty vengeance directed specifically at Luigi. (He built, bought, or at least took over a whole-ass, multi-level hotel for this express purpose, not only luring Luigi into this trap, but roping his brother, his friend, and some random Toad acquaintances into the whole ordeal, as well - which is categorically insane and the topic of another rant for another day).

But Count Bleck doesn't want power for power's sake. He merely wants to use the Chaos Heart to end reality. There's no throne he covets, no crown he searches for - he desires only utter annihilation of everything, including himself. It's such a nihilistic goal and is so striking in comparison to the other enemies we encounter in and around the Mushroom Kingdom. Even Dimentio, whose initial plan was to seize power and reshape the world in his own corrupted image - even Dimentio chooses this final destruction over the promise of false power in the end.

How do you fight against someone who seeks death as their ultimate goal? It's such a depressing and fascinating concept in a Mario game, of all things, and is one of the reasons I personally see SPM as a kind of climax to the events of many of the preceding games, including SM: RPG and Thousand Year Door, which you can see as the "prequels," as it were, to SPM, if you look at these games as existing along a timeline that began with the creation of the Pixls and the Tribe of Ancients and ends with Bleck and Dimentio's defeat at the threshold of apocalypse.

Anyway, I'm starting to come up with some lore ideas that would possibly tie these three games together in a slight AU where the Bleck gang would show up in 7 Stars and Geno's role is extended past the restoration of the Star Road.

Oof okay, work pissed me off and I've been thinking about the Bad Kids a lot so here we go:

This season is so good at capturing the sheer Rage of realizing that being exceptional gets you NOTHING.

You can be fucking perfect on paper. You can be LITERAL ROCK STARS AND SAINTS AND GENIUSES. You can go to Hell and save the world and people who didn't do a fraction of what you've done will say it's not fair to them.

This season has been poking at one of my sorest spots since it started, but today I've boiled over.

Allow me to share a personal rant for reference

I am a person who has always been just kinda...good at shit. I learn quickly, I can synthesize information and put it to use very easily. Generally, if I've done something once, I never need to be shown how to do it again. I don't tend to need a lot of help with things - most of my best learning is done through me teaching myself things. I move fast, I usually get things right on the first try.  

This isn't meant to be a brag, it's just the fact of how my brain works. 

So, watching my fucking coworkers, the ones that I HELPED, the ones that had to fail three times to get their paperwork to even go through the submit portal, get fucking BONUS POINTS is infuriating. They get fucking speed tracked while I sit here and wait for someone to get around to my submission - the one I completed and submitted DAYS earlier than theirs. The one that was approved on the first try and dropped onto a desk, never to be acknowledged again. I did it the day we got the assignment. I buckled down, I did the work, and I turned it in. 

So why is their trying more reward worthy than my doing?

Why are we acting like this approach is more fair????

"Yeah, the entire family pressured you to go to be a perfect student and go to college. No, your brother doesn't have to graduate high school - but at least he tried!"

"Yeah, you did 80% of the work on this project but at least they showed up for the presentation!" 

"Sure, you've done everything in your power to pursue your career of choice, you've followed every fucking step anyone has ever said you had to take to get there - unfortunately not everything works out. Oh, her? Well, she knows a guy who has a friend who's just going to hand her a job. No, she's not qualified for it at all!"

Over and over I've been told not to be too good too fast because all it gets you is more work and less reward. I should have learned this already.

I just don't know how many more times I can go to the job I got for displaying skills and abilities I was specifically asked to have, just for some guy to tumble in thirty minutes late with no clue what's going and get a fucking parade just for showing up. 

And please, can we let go of the assumption that more time spent = more effort applied?
