Lando off in the distance enjoying the water as he cooled off, as soon as the bitter cold and snow hounded England. It wasn’t as if you all disliked winter, but it was nice to get into the sun and sand, especially for your little girl.

Poppy smiled up at you, her teeth still not in yet, you couldn’t resist picking her up and holding her to your chest, pressing kisses across her face.

“My little sun baby, you’re so cute!”

Happy squeals leaving her lips at the attention of her mum, her eyes only lit up more seeing Lando walking towards the two of you.

“Here comes daddy, I think he’s done swimming!”

“Hi petal!” came Lando’s voice full of love as he reached to pick up the 5 month old, who immediately scrunched her face up at her fathers wet hair, dripping onto her

When he looked back down, Poppy was very much asleep which allowed him to carefully sit next to you, your head finding its usual place on his shoulder

A kiss was placed to your forehead, his arm squeezing you a bit tighter

Just a reminder since im seeing a lot of people who don't regularly read comics get tripped up on things: the Spider-man 2099 (1992) comics are NOT canon!

And this isnt due to a recent change or anything. As soon as it ended (with multiple characters dying, things being destroyed) the character of miguel went on to be retconned and reworked multiple times by his own original writer (who was dissatisfied with the state of things) and OTHER writers (who thought They could fix it).

Case in point; one of the first series after the shelving of the 2099 universe featured Miguel's 1992 timeline being quite literally *stopped* on its tracks during the first week -- before any of the other events could happen -- and had him walk out of it to join a multiverse group called the Exiles. His 2014 series reboot by the original writer also ignores 90% of the events of that series, like keeping his mom and tyler stone alive etc. Separate oneshots focused on Miguel during a few marvel events also pretty much focused on the concept of trying to reboot and fix the 2099 universe so these events "were not set in stone" or "could be changed at any time" -- and this isn't by mistake.

Miguel's latest appearance (in yet another reboot oneshot series) seems to be based on his movie visual but with 0 ties to the previous series or references to atsv itself, since at the time the movie wasnt out yet. They just wanted people to know they'd be trying again (yet again!), and it remains to be seen what will be done next.

The 2099 comics are not canon to ATSV. They are barely relevant to marvel comics. The 2099 comics, starting all the way up with the original 1992 one, are littered with all manner of racist stereotypes and cultural mishandling on part of the white author, that aged pretty badly pretty quickly. Marvel is trying to pretend they didn't happen. Miguel's 2014 comics briefly, and insistently, also tried to pass him off as a white man (he was called "Mike" for a period) which was backpedalled when it didn't work.

*You are not obligated to read these comics to understand ATSV Miguel.* ATSV Miguel was created in collaboration with actual latinos to have his own, separate, improved story. (A few interviews have stated his characterization stems from Oscar Isaac's experience as a Cuban Exile) He is visually distinct and the artbook implies his 2099 universe is built from the ground up, set apart from the comics as well.

This isn't new. Miles from the ITSV movie is also completely removed from his original universe (where among other things, his mother gets killed by venom and the avengers are assholes) which is a long way of saying TL;DR --

Don't worry about wading through Miguel's garbage if you don't want to. Half of the people and events in these books have had no effect or staying impact on canon, they are snapped out of existence at will. And absolutely don't let anyone guilt you into reading these comics to prove "you're a real fan" when the MOVIE ITSELF does not give a shit lol

- (I think I can classify this as modern) Rip sodapop curtis you would’ve loved saying “I’m just a girl 🎀”

- Soda never liked haircuts. When he was a small feral child his long hair would get tangled a lot, but he’s tender headed as FUCK so he would scream and cry when his momma brought the brush out. Darry put sodas hair into braids sometimes just for fun and soda didn’t mind bc it kept his hair from getting tangled, and then it didn’t hurt to brush. He’s always had really soft hair and it grows super fast.

- Jealous little soda asksjks (this was about soda being jealous over pony getting attention as a baby but I don’t wanna edit the original ramble I wrote down)

- When ponyboy was born he just kind of STARED. No crying or anything just 👁️👁️. Even Darry cried when he was born. Soda cried a lot.

- Adding on, Darry and pony were pretty quiet babies. They still cried for food and stuff sometimes but not a lot. Soda was a LOUDDD crier, and a frequent one too. It was the type of crying that sounds like it hurts the baby’s throat cause they’re shrieking their head off. Also soda would cry for, like, the first year of his life if he was ever handed to his dad.

- If Johnny survived the fire and got a wheelchair, he’d be running over people’s feet. Constantly. Just because. Or bc they asked for it. Either way, the moment he gets a hang of that wheelchair it is OVER for yall. And probably before that too.

- Ponyboy gets the same. Goddamn. Thing. At EVERY restaurant. Partly because it scares him to order anything else, partly because he’s picky asf. He makes sure it’s there on the menu and has his order memorized by now. “Chicken tenders, fries, and a Pepsi please.” He’s tried to ask for other things in the past like eggs, cuz he likes those, but the moment they asked him “how would you like them done” he just stared at Darry because he didn’t know what all the different types of eggs were, and now he’s scared bc he’s taking longer, and the server is still there, so he just got sunny side up eggs and they were slimy and he wanted to go home and cry (based on a true story sadly)

- Basically pony has anxiety and probably autism (so me)

- Ponyboy likes avocado. That’s it that’s the headcanon. It’s like one of the only healthy-ish things he’ll eat.

- Soda gets suuuper nauseous really easily, and pony gets carsick on occasion. So the first time pony went to a theme park, his family was scared that he would throw up like soda. They go on a ride and he’s like “yall im fine dawg.” Soda is jealous bc pony can go on rides unaffected (soda will still go on rides anyways, he just throws up afterwards)

- Pony is the most PALE ASS BITCH you’ve ever seen. He burns soo easily. His face gets red really quickly, no matter what’s going on. The only time he gets the slightest bit darker is when he burns and tans. Two-bit has been like “you ain’t white you translucent” multiple times because in the right lighting you can see pony’s veins. It’s even worse because soda and Darry tan so wonderfully, and pony looks like he had an allergic reaction if he doesn’t reapply his sunscreen when he’s supposed to. I feel like Mrs Curtis is the reason for this, she didn’t tan. Mr Curtis did tho.

sorry if this is like out of line or smth but ive been seeing a lot of your mixed w/ white posts today and i had a question.

my entire dads side of the family is cuban, theres a lot of hispanic heritage on that side of the family. my entire moms side of the family is white. ive always considered myself mixed/hispanic w/ white but im incredibly white passing. ive always felt like an outsider in hispanic communities because i was mainly raised by my mom.

how do i get past the shame and sense of non-belonging to start connecting with my cuban and hispanic heritage?

I don't think it's out of line, but I do want to warn that I really can only give theoreticals. As I have stated a few different times, I was raised in a multicultural, multi-ethnic family that went to great lengths to expose me to my cultures and also the cultures of others. It was very important to my parents to make sure their children did not feel divorced from being black. Unfortunately, they didn't have much of a choice about being divorced from being Native, as that decision was also made for them when they were children themselves. However, it was still important for them to show us what they could.

So I never really had to "reconnect" with my blackness because it was something my dad felt was really important for me to be raised in long before I was born. Whether or not I'm "allowed" to say I belong to my Nation depends entirely on paperwork that I don't have due to family members dying etc (and also, you know, race politics bc for a very long time you were not legally able to be both black and native) and so while there are means to get that paperwork nowadays... personally I don't have much of a drive to give someone a whole bunch of money to dig around in my family history and see what documents they might be able to fish out. It is enough for me that I can point to dearly departed family and state that I know they were part of the Nation. It is enough for me that no matter where I go, when I bump into someone else who is Native they recognize me without me needing to say anything. It is enough for me to have memories of this happening while we were near a reservation, and a family took us in because we were lost and confused and heading directly into a wildfire out west.

I would like to learn more about my Nation. About the traditions and cultures and lifestyles there. I'd like to learn the language. But I don't need papers to do that. I have some oral tradition received by aforementioned family members, but otherwise it's mostly just what I pick up here and there learning on my own. For right now, I am okay with that.

OH ABSOLUTELY SPY VS SPY IS A COLD WAR METAPHOR

theyre meant to represent the USA and the USSR and their rivalry is meant to be the cold war represented through their consistent, pointless fighting with no reason portrayed throughout the comics. it was created by this Cuban guy, Antonio Prohías, and he fled Cuba to the US three days before Castro's regime started. he was accused of being a spy, so he made a comic about spies. so all of Black Spy and White Spy's bombing and fighting and hurting each other is all Cold War metaphor. also yeah im just insane and am like "what if they're gay and are in (really fucked up) love w each other"

This story takes place several years after 'Blood Out'. Terry still lives in the Bronx and works in Manhatten SVU.

Following on from @the-hinky-panda story 'The Dog' Mike has retired from the NYPD on medical grounds due to seizures causes by the attack. He has a therapy dog called Bono and lives with @the-hinky-panda character Meredith.

There were a thousand different things that Terry loved about you; it would take an age to list them all, but it started with the way you said his name.

Terry…

It was a sweet drawl emitting from your lips as your fingers tangled in his hair, tugging just a little. He moaned at the sensation, pleasure erupting through his synapses as he moved inside of you with slow, deliberate strokes.

“Oh, pretty girl, the things you’re doing to me.” He mumbled against your mouth, his thumb skating over the apple of your cheek as his lips brushed over yours once more. You whimpered against his stubbled jaw as he hit that deviant little spot inside you, the one that made your hips arch and your body tighten. “You got me right where you want me.” He whispered. “So, fucking in love with you, I can’t tell which way is up.”

You keened for him, your core gripping him like a velvet fist as that beautiful rose flush blossomed across your cheeks. It was bliss, pure unadulterated bliss and it shot through his veins like a narcotic stealing away as his breath as you climaxed. It was the most magnificent fucking thing he’d ever seen. Lips parted, head tilted back into the pillow, sensuous body taut underneath his. It was perfection frozen in a single moment.

The thing about Terry, he collected these moments, treasuring every single one of them.

The problem with early morning wake up calls was that they always made you late. In the aftermath of this morning’s love making, you’d fallen asleep in Terry’s arms, your naked form draped across his chest, his fingertips combing through your hair. There had always been something about him that soothed you, he was the only man that made you feel loved and cherished. The only person that made you feel safe.

You were a flurry of motion and activity, damp hair pulled back into a messy bun that somehow coordinated with the tailored grey blazer you were pulling on over a white V-neck shirt that clung to your form. That tiny gold compass hung on a slender chain around your throat, a pinprick diamond glinting in the light from the cluster of Edison light bulbs that hung from the black fixtures in the ceiling.

So that you can always find your way, he had smiled when he’d given it to you for your birthday.

It was beautiful and understated, just like you.

Terry couldn’t help but be fascinated by your actions as he stood in the kitchen decanting a cafetiere of Cuban blend coffee into your polka dot travel mug. You were always a pleasure to watch, a purposeful whirlwind that had entered his life out of nowhere. He hadn’t been looking for love when he’d met you, he wasn’t looking for anything but there you were, a Sergeant in the Bronx Homicide Unit. The instant you shook hands it was like a lightning bolt had struck him, it was a raw dynamic feeling, a stirring of something more and suddenly saw the potential. He started to envision a future. He’d been living in the moment for so long after Rose had left him, he’d forgotten what it looked like to move forward. That had been almost two years ago, and he hadn’t looked back since.

“What?” You said glancing up at him, shoving some of the paperwork you had been working on into your black leather satchel.

“Nothing.” He said, a small smile twitching at his lips as he leaned on the counter. “I just like having you around.”

“I like being around.” You responded, clipping your badge to your belt.

“Maybe we should make it more permanent.”

You paused for a moment, tilting your head to look at him. There was silence between you, he sensed your hesitancy before he nodded his understanding.

“Terry I…”

The words lodged in your throat; you couldn’t seem to spit them out. They grew in your chest like an ache, swelling until you tasted copper on your tongue. It was a rush of adrenaline, your heart pounding in your chest as your back hit the wall, the shatter of glass falling around your head.

“It’s alright.” Terry said, rubbing the back of his neck. “I get it.”

He didn’t and you couldn’t explain. He picked up the keys before grabbing your travel mug, the matching polka dot lunch bag clung over his shoulder as he pulled open the apartment door and gestured for you to step through it.

“Come on, I don’t want to make you late.”
