i feel kinda crazy bc whenever i was a teenager i created this sorta imaginary older big sister who had moved out of the house so in my head i could live w her whenever i wanted bc she had survived it all and was independent and she would also just comfort me in a big sisterly way whenever something bad or upsetting happened and recently ive been going back to that at my big age 😭 and its kinda sad and also just wish fulfillment and also kinda scary bc i really used to think that by my age i'd have everything sorted but i really don't and i know that's normal and nobodies twenties are perfect but some people also have good relationships w their fathers which is crazy just to think about sooo
#is this readable? i hope not ❤️#i typed up some of my feelings about this in a word doc and just realised like damn i basically have an imaginary friend as an adult#i really am crazy lol#i just feel lonely within my family atm. bc my brother is younger than me so he could never really do anything to help#and i feel like i cant really trust my mam the same anymore..even tho i still love her a lot#and i'm trying to improve my relationship w my dad bc im realising what a hard life he had and that he's not like an irredeemable Bad Perso#and sometimes he'll look at me a certain way or apologise for something small that he would never have apologised for a couple of years ago#and i feel like im going crazy like is he becoming a better person or..? and i feel bad bc im not really doing the same#or maybe i am. sometimes i think im unfair to him considering how he is now but i also cant really reconcile what he is now w/ how he#was then. and then he'll suddenly say something to me in a certain tone of voice or with a certain sharpness and i'll go back to how a felt#as a teenager :/ i rlly dont know what to do about it but i think its because i dont really have anyone to talk to about it#i mean i sort of do. but i also dont actually know how much of it actually happened and how much of it i just made up#but having worked w teenagers yeah they can be little shits but i also cant imagine treating any of them the way my dad treated me#just bc theyre annoying or have an attitude or are a little mean or whatever#like theres actually a lot of ppl i could talk to but also how do you even bring something like this up#how do i say 'oh and i invented an older sister as a coping mechanism and sometimes i still talk to her in my head' without sounding crazy#its 2am here i need to go to bed i have work in the morning 😭 day and night and next day ruined bc my dad spoke to me slightly funny

Catchy title? THERE'S THREE IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP
Jk. Sorta. This is a random rambling post with possibly a point lol. Saw that clip from the show 1923.
TL;DR: household work has always been a "labor" just as necessary to the common human as farming or trade or any work we do today. The value comes from how much time and effort it takes to learn how to do something. Women did not have societal support for other aspirations in the past. But household labor is still an essential need whether we're raising a family or we're single. The show 1923's scene highlights the lack of recognition of women's labor of the time and reflects how we still see its value today. It gave the women in the scene an interest in higher aspirations when they were limited to few- that they could do other things while automating their laundry in a washer, but would have to pay the electricity and rent on the washer.
So that's it right? No?
It doesn't take a genius (only a bored human). In the past, women did the work needing to be done that the men couldn't get to because his focus was on income/resources to feed the family (anything- farming, trading, livestock, materials/tanning, mining and much more variety than you'd think). Housework was never paid to the wife because someone had to do it and the couple are a team in the best situations. Someone brings the food home and someone cooks it and cleans the following mess and the home in general. In. Order. to. Live. Obviously this is highly simplifying. Chopping wood for the fire and carrying water from the well and all that.
These days if you're living alone, you're doing it all yourself, which is why we pay for these conveniences that we're so used to already. We couldn't be single otherwise- we'd need a community if not a partner. I just think of the microwave- if we didn't have electricity or gas, I think how long it would take to heat up food, which would be rotten from sitting out unless it was like cheese or something. There were other processes to preserve food in the past that we've forgotten to teach.
A post I read long ago read that clothes were designed to only require minimal washing (granted I don't recall what era this is) they would only wash their under layers of dress that were close to the skin and they was made out of a naturally antimicrobial textile (linen I think?). The outer dresses and coats (of which they only had a few anyway) didn't need washing. Perhaps more stitching, leather polishing, I dunno not my area. So why the need for washers?
Meanwhile comments I read mentioned that the men would have viewed farm plows and tools for their trades as very valuable to assist their work. Due to traditional values I presume, the women, not allowed nor had the support to have higher aspirations, could not choose to better themselves at the supposed cost to the men's work. Some of these shows seem to imply that women were supposed to lead the moral high ground in society if you were high up. Cool. Guess you had to watch it around the churches though lest you offend them and trigger a witch hunt
Boy do we live a very different life now- I think as I sit in my cubicle and my partner out working his trade so we can rent an apartment and have food and pay for electric and water. We don't have to do much and it's whoever wants to make food or have a clean sink or clothes does it.
Household labor has been hugely cut out due to technology that I fear it will never be recognized- an insult to our mothers of mothers. But we're STILL paying for it! We're paying for so much convenience because we can't stop work long enough to build our own house, tend to our own gardens and farms, and become self sufficient (which I personally believe has always been a myth until recent times and solar and wind power plays a part in that thinking)
Anyway and so housework labor has likely never been seen as a valuable, because we never had to pay for it in the past. You either did it, or had a wife and/or children who did. The women in the show saw the refrigerator and washer with inherent value and then men only saw the cost and how much they'd have to work more for it. The salesman had an impressive pitch.
We don't see women's traditional labor as valuable, and yet now we pay for it.
Ladies, we're paying for traditional labor now. So if you catch yourself doing any more housework than your s.o. when you both work already, I hope you can find a way to change/remedy the situation.
Also. From this analysis, I've changed my mind on some personal beliefs. It's always been a "two-person" income household, unless you make well enough moneys (like many men did before ...psst higher aspirations...). First it was one income for two people's work, now it's two incomes for two people's work plus bits and bits of random other people's work (for simplicity maybe we say three). But because people profit off of these conveniences, that's where it all goes downhill. The 2:1 ratio is worse than 3:2. That's true. But it can't actually be 3:2 because of wealth inequality (in the us alone and globally if I'm so bold). That corporation selling you the convenience price rather than the materials and labor price, is making that at least a 4:2 ratio then if not 5:2- who knows?
You don't need a man. You don't need a woman. A partner. (I do believe we still need community for mental health reasons and that it takes a village to raise children.)
Conversely, in a world of profiting corporations and wealth inequality, I believe that no one can do it all alone.
I could go on but I'm not an expert. Hope these words mean something lol. Thoughts?
(I haven't seen the show, just read comments about the clip I watched.)

Tumblr media
You barely have any solid memories of Joel Miller, even if he was your dad’s oldest friend. And if you were being honest, you remember his brother Tommy more who smiled so warmly and seemed to radiate warmth.
Now you stand before Joel Miller’s face on the side of the Globe Life field along with the rest of the Texas Rangers professional baseball team.
It’s a cool evening in Arlington. Everyone seems to bask in the weather that feels perfect for a night of baseball.
Home from your first grad school semester, you didn’t think you’d be going to a game. But your parents explained how good the tickets were, and that even if you didn’t care about the game, you could just enjoy the stadium. So with the promise of free food and a nice night out, you were sold.
Now you’re here.
“Yesterday Joel said to head to the side entrance, that’s where we can check in.” Your dad eagerly explains and stunned you simply follow along like a confused duckling.
The sea of jerseys sweeps you into a sports wave until you’re deposited in a new space. Your jaw almost drops.
The VIP suites sit at the very side edge of the field, and it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen.
The seats are incredible. Everything feels deluxe but comfortable. Someone calls out to your mom, and soon enough the rest of the Miller family approaches.
Tommy’s married now and his wife Maria is lovely, so is their baby. Joel’s daughters, Sarah and Ellie, are older. Time sucker punches you in the gut seeing how much time has passed, but you warmly greet everyone. You realize how long it really has been since you saw any of them.
You greet everyone warmly and appreciate all their surprised welcome seeing you back.
“Joel’s glad y’all were finally able to make it. Been talking about it since yesterday.” Tommy explains.
“Yeah us too! Just worked out that we all could come out and enjoy this with someone back home now.” You mom teases, but it’s warm.
Even though you were cities away, the new workload just kept you so busy.
You’re grateful to be here too. Even though your mind still swirls trying to grasp all of this.
You knew your dad’s friend made it big as a professional baseball player. Joel and his family left Austin to move to Arlington after he signed for the Rangers. So you rarely saw them. But with your mom’s job recently relocating here, your dad talked non stop about maybe seeing more of the games. It never really clicked that your family knew a professional sports athlete. Plus you never cared too much for sports to even look more into it.
Now as the game starts with a wild explosive and electric opening, you feel like you’ve slipped into another reality.
Then Joel’s entrance arrives, and your heart jumps out of your chest. The stadium erupts in a wild frenzy. The music for his arrival is western themed, grand and epic.
“All of this is because the league calls him Cowboy Miller.” Your dad explains.
The nickname was given to him not just because of his very southern twang, but Joel’s cold demeanor on the mound along with his wild style of pitching. All this led to him being deemed a Cowboy.
You understand why.
A serious air of power radiates from Joel while he approaches the mound.
Wearing a jersey with the number two on it, he’s older, more distinguished than the last time you remember him. Grays pepper his beard and the shadow of his baseball cap highlights the wrinkles flowing across his face.
He’s handsome, utterly gorgeous. His shoulders look broad, pure striking mountains, in his white jersey.
It’s like your mind finally registers and settles into the reality he’s a man, a full grown and incredible man.
And he really is incredible.
Even though he’s older for a pitcher, he still possesses dazzling talent. You even clap loudly when he strikes one of the batters out.
Your eyes never leave him. Joel sternly staring down the batter is terrifying. His legs look strong as he whips the ball fast to the home plate. Your eyes can’t help but flicker to his ass when he walks back to the dugout.
He’s gorgeous.
But cold reality crashes into you when your dad brightly yells. Joel is your dad’s friend, and that thought sours the bubbling feelings in your chest.
So you try focusing on the game, which actually turns out to be rather fun. The vibe of the stadium, along with the atmosphere of the game itself, is easy to melt into.
At one point someone gets a hit off Joel and he has to run to cover first. He’s surprisingly fast. Seeing him catch the ball, get the out, is so impressive and hot as fuck.
After that the Rangers switch pitchers.
As he leaves the mound, the stadium cheers at Joel’s exit. Very politely he nods, raising his hand in a quick goodbye to everyone. Then he scans the crowd.
It’s admirable seeing how he instantly finds where his family is. Joel’s roughed face melts soft with a small crooked grin hearing the applause they give him. He even spots your dad proudly cheering.
Joel’s eyes then lock with yours. Still walking towards the dugout, his face stays on you while his focus narrows in a cloudy confusion like he’s trying to recognize you.
Then his eyes go wide as realization sinks in.
You weakly grin back. It’s all you can do before Joel is fully gone from your line sight. Your heart thumps erratically within its cage.
The Rangers unfortunately lose by three. Once the game ends, you decide to swing by the merch store.
“Guess the game made you a fan huh?” You mom perks up noticing you eyeing the jerseys.
You shrug easily with an eased grin.
After this the Rangers have a five game stretch at home.
You only know because after the game you check for all things about the team, about Joel. You haven’t brought yourself to look at any videos of Joel yet. But you did discover from the team's instagram that he has one too.
Early the next morning, still lounging in bed, you scroll through Joel’s instagram page. It seems very professional, like it’s run by a social media manager primarily using it to promote Joel without being too personal.
You’re not paying attention, still a bit too focused on your phone, when a knock comes at the door.
Your face scrunches up confused. Then terror sucker punches you when you see who’s at the door.
No way.
Opening the door Joel stares at you, but this time wearing striking thick black rimmed glasses. They make him incredibly distinguished. Instead of seeming like a professional baseball player you’re reminded of a studious professor. And without a baseball cap on, you’re given sight of his soft glorious curls and the light gray streaks dancing among them.
He’s knockout beautiful.
Of course, you’re still in your mismatched lounge clothes and barely look like you’ve left bed.
He says your name, greeting you with a curt nod. You swiftly greet him with an awkward hello.
“Are you going for like a Clark Kent thing?” You blurt before you can stop yourself.
Joel’s face scrunches up as he sighs.
“Gotta take a break from my contacts s’all.” He admits with a grumpy reply.
But it’s his thick twang, the familiar southern accent - that sweeps you breathless.
“How do they even let you pitch?” You lightly tease, and
Joel rolls his eyes.
“Good to see ya too.” He rumbles, finally greeting you.
Now realizing he’s still standing in your doorway, you let him in.
Joel explains how he wanted to come by, visit your folks, catch up, and thank them for getting to stop by.
You’re the one early thanking him.
“The tickets were incredible. And you did amazing the other night.” You add sincerely.
“Oh, yeah thanks. Glad we won.” Joel nods.
“So they let you just roam around?” You ask slightly stunned still seeing him here in your family kitchen.
Joel scoffs. “Ain’t gotta be at the stadium till later.”
“So, was uh…surprised to see ya at the game.” His tone now reeks of trying to just make small talk.
Weakly you grin back explaining it was a nice change from your days on campus.
“So…back from school, huh.” That awkward thick small talk tone of his gets worse especially as he asks how’s it going and what you’re doing.
For being a talented professional pitcher, right now he simply seems like just some guy…
Just your dad’s pal.
The thought brings a strange acidic taste in your mouth.
You explain school is going good and how you’re here just visiting until the next semester starts up again.
Politely he asks what you’re going to school for. You tell him about your program, explaining all the classes you’re taking and even about the undergrad classes you help TA for.
Joel nods, quiet. You wonder if this sounds boring to a man who professionally plays baseball everyday.
“You’re damn smart.” He then whistles low, and his compliment jumpstarts your heart.
“Haven’t read a book since… shit can’t even remember when.” Joel muses.
“What? They don’t have you take baseball quizzes for pitching?” You joke, but it falls flat. Joel just gives you a dull look.
However his lips twitch faintly, like he’s fighting a grin, and it makes you grin.
“Though, I’ve heard you could maybe work on your slider pitch.” You add.
From the clips you’ve seen and the comments you’ve read, that's the one thing others have commented on, along with how unbearably handsome he is. ESPN even named him one of sports top most eligible bachelors.
“Oh?” Joel’s eyebrows rise up fast. Crossing his hands over his chest, Joel turns towards you more.
“Suddenly you’re a sports analyst now, huh?” The way his voice perks up confidently, matching your edge of playfulness, causes something to get stuck in your throat.
“Y’gonna start telling me how to pitch too? Just like your old man used to.” Joel adds still with that same tone and even chuckles.
But his words slice through you. Swallowing hard, you steel yourself tight.
Thankfully the sound of the front door unlocking arrives. Your parents are home.
“You’re fantastic, Joel. Glad I got to see it live.” You tell him earnestly looking him straight in the eye, as if to stare him down and remind him unwavering you’re a grown adult. Even if you’re in lounge shorts and holey t-shirt, you try holding your head high with as much grace as you can.
With that you head to tell your parents Joel is here then quietly slip back to your room.
Eventually your mom knocks on your door and pops her head in.
“There’s another game tonight. Wanna go?” She offers.
You decline, explaining you want to rest and catch up with a few shows you’ve been neglecting. Thankfully neither of your parents pressure you to join them.
With the house to yourself, you now search for as many videos of Joel you can.
Even slowly starting to understand baseball at a base level, you realize Joel ‘Cowboy’ Miller really is spectacular. You hear about his time playing for The University of Texas and how adored he is by his alma mater.
Then heat crawls up your chest when you see clips of him drenched in sweat, heavily breathing, or even licking his lingers to help with the ball grip.
You quickly turn the videos off before you get yourself worked up.
This has to be just a simple infatuated infestation. You simply need to try to shake it off.
The last home game the Rangers play the Minnesota Twins and Joel isn’t pitching. You again decide to sit this game out. You just have to detox yourself of Joel Miller.
Until you’re invited to a dinner cookout at his home. You thought about maybe playing sick, but with how hungry you are, you see this just as an opportunity to get a nice meal.
Your dad casually mentions Joel’s house has a pool, a nice bonus. He just forgot to mention how huge the Miller house would be.
Though gorgeously grand, it’s still surprisingly cozy. In the backyard you spot Joel at the grill and it makes your head spin. The weathered old burnt orange Texas longhorn shirt he wears looks cozy and casual, sits on him beautifully highlighting his shoulders.
You slip into the pool hoping it will cool you off. But your eyes always find Joel who now laughs with your dad.
Joel’s eyes suddenly flicker to yours, catching you staring red handed. Immediately you sink back into the water.
There’s more people here than expected and you feel a bit out of place. After drying off, you decide to head inside for a drink.
The soft Texas evening illuminates the home in a gentle glow. The music from outside floats in a soft hum making the room feel like it’s underwater.
Ellie told you the house was free for you to roam and from the quick tour she gave, you caught a glimpse of something you want to see more.
So letting yourself maybe take another peek, you walk back to the small alcove carved in the wall. It’s honestly a rather quiet achievement exhibition compared to other grand trophy rooms you’ve imagined.
There are honestly more pictures of Sarah and Ellie, along with Tommy and the rest of the Miller clan, decorating the main hallway of the house. All of it suits Joel.
His UT longhorn jersey is framed on the wall. There are a few awards clustered together, a couple of magazine covers where he looks so dashing in his uniform.
But what makes your heart float are the framed drawings of Joel with a baseball on the mound that range from adorable scribbles to a rather good pencil sketch. These had to be Ellie and Sarah’s work.
“If you’re thinkin’ about stealin’ somethin’ maybe go for the jersey. I can always get another one.”
Joel’s drawl trickles out, and you almost jump out of your skin. Turning to the side he walks to where you are. You hate how exposed you feel just being caught in his gaze and also obviously browsing in his home.
“Nah, I was hoping for a World Series ring to steal and sell but.” You shrug playful, knowing now he’s gone to the Series but never won.
Joel makes a low hissing sound like he’s injured.
“Damn, y’hit low.” He chuckles low.
You grin triumphantly.
“Don’t worry. You’ll get a ring someday.” You say simply.
“Sound sure about that.” He replies.
“Cause it’s true.” You nod. “You’re pretty great.”
Even with your limited knowledge of baseball, it’s easy to see how great he is. Joel is incredibly talented, a shining star stitched in accomplishment. Yet you can tell hasn’t let it go to his head. He’s anchored by his loved ones, and it’s admirable. You even tell him that.
“I…thanks.” He stumbles for a moment, deep dark eyes a bit cloudy as he searches your face with his voice thick and rumbled.
“What game has been your favorite?” You suddenly ask, wanting to know more about him.
His eyebrows furrow and his deep eyes glaze over a bit distant, creating a face of thought that looks adorable.
Then he nods with a soft grin remembering.
“One of the first games the girls gotta go to.” He paints a picture of seeing his daughters, sitting with their uncle Tommy, wearing too large adorable Texas Rangers jerseys.
“One of the best games I ever played.” He adds gently.
He really is a rare beauty of a man with a gilded heart of gold.
“And you? Your folks talk about ya nonstop. Tell me about grad school. And none of that simple ‘it’s good’ crap.” The quick playful mimic he does of your voice makes you laugh warm and bright.
So you tell him about your favorite moments from lecture and the fondness you have for simply embracing subjects you love so much.
Joel stares fully focused on you. You swear his eyes twinkle like stars might be sowed right in his deep earth depths.
He opens his mouth, eager to continue the conversation. Until the kitchen comes alive with more people entering inside. The bubble breaks, but electricity still brews under your skin.
The next day the Rangers have a game at Globe Life Field you go.
Even if Joel isn’t pitching, you want to experience this world he loves so much. You’re however surprised to find Joel is starting.
Your dad explains how one of the pitchers planned for today had to rest. So Joel will simply be the opener before the rest of the bullpen steps in.
Your heart doesn’t rage wildly as it did like seeing him the first time. Now you feel almost drawn to Joel. You focus on his stance on the mound, so disciplined and almost hauntingly serious.
The Arizona Diamondbacks batter hits the ball solid. It flies straight at Joel, and fear sinks its fangs into you.
Until with fast reflexes Cowboy Miller catches the ball eased. You and the stadium erupt wild.
The Rangers win one to four. On the high of the game, you head to the jerseys again in the shop.
“You should get one!” Your mom urges.
Your fingers itch, almost begging you to grab the jersey that says Miller on it. But something continues to hold you back.
On the drive back home, you now see all the great reaction clips and memes of the game. There's a particular one of Joel catching the ball that includes a great western music overlay, like he’s a hero in an old cowboy movie.
Feeling brave, you send the reel to his Instagram profile. You even add underneath the message “now you just gotta work on that slider pitch.”
You send it. Think, hell at worst the poor social media manager will see it and not even give it the time or day. He must get so many messages anyway.
When you get home, you see the message has been read.
But also, a new profile has followed you.
JM_8712
The profile also sent you a message.
JM_8712: ain’t nothing wrong with my slider
No way.
This can’t be who you think it is. You message back saying this possibly can’t be the real Joel Miller because he doesn’t seem like the type to even know how to send a gif.
JM_8712: think ur so funny huh
The account sends a simple gif of someone rolling their eyes.
Then another message flies in.
JM_8712: ur dad get those damn nachos he kept bitchin about with Tommy?
It feels like one of Joel’s changeup pitches knocks you out.
Because it’s really him messaging you. When you even go to double check the blank profile just to make sure, it barely follows more than twenty people and you spot Ellie and Sarah’s accounts among those profiles.
Warmth unfolds from your chest, dangerous and electric. This is Joel’s personal private account.
Unknowingly this all kicks off something you never thought would have ever started. You and Joel start talking.
The messages flow between you and him, back and forth, at first just talking about the games. Then, when the Rangers leave to travel, the messaging increases.
Joel sends you pictures of the places he travels, the food he eats, the vacant stadiums he gets to enjoy.
You devour it all with a greedy eagerness. However it dawns on you that you’re sliding down a slope too slippery to stop.
For the rest of the summer you earnestly check your messages on the app.
One evening, on a stormy delayed game against the Dodgers, your messages don’t send through. The weather is getting worse in Los Angeles.
“They’re gonna reschedule the game. Storm’s not letting up.” Your dad comments glumly.
You just hope Joel is alright.
Instagram finally alerts you of a message and your heart jumps.
Joel.
JM_8712: sorry connections shit
Then he simply sends you his phone number.
You wonder if you’re seeing things.
Trying to keep calm you text the number a simple message asking if he’s alright.
When your text alert chimes, it rattles your brain.
Yeah im good thanks
Then another message follows. It’s a photo from the locker, bags packed like he’s ready to leave.
Looks like room service for tonight
It’s Joel. You’re texting Joel right now.
It feels like a step deeper into a current you never want to leave.
Texting seems to shift the energy between you and him, a transmutation you never could have imagined.
You text Joel good morning and he tells you good night. You and him bond over a love of music. He’s got incredible taste while also complimenting yours. You stay up late on game days when pitched and now feel your throat dry up knowing you’re getting to know the man on the mound.
The desire brewing more for Joel mixes with the summer heat and melts the days away. Soon enough summer dwindles away, and your new semester approaches.
The drive back to your apartment is a good couple of hours. Funny enough Joel is also traveling today for a game. Stopping for gas midway, your phone goes off.
You think at first it must be one of your parents.
But instead it’s Joel.
You scramble to answer.
“Hey,” his voice sounds incredibly richer and deep on the phone.
“Y’doin’ alright?” Joel asks hesitant.
That catches you off guard.
“Oh yeah, just finished putting in gas actually. Why, what’s up?” You relax more into the conversation now curious to why he called asking that.
Joel sighs.
“Sorry I just…your last text uh, it just got me worried.”
Now you’re really curious about what you texted him. It had been half an incomplete response you sent. Even from your side it seemed abrupted and strange.
Sighing, you apologize that you didn’t even realize you had done that. In the rush of wanting to get out on the road you must have just sent the text.
But it suddenly hits you. Joel called because he was worried. That thought rips into you with a ferocious rawness.
“Okay yeah,” Joel says a bit clumsily. “I’ll…let you go.”
“No, it’s okay.” You quickly reassure him. “How’s the traveling going?”
“Good, just finished rewatching one of the inflight movies.”
“Please tell me it was Field of Dreams.” You tease him with the iconic baseball film as you head back on the road. Just now with Joel on the phone.
On speaker, Joel scoffs echoing in your car all around you. You realize this might be a bad decision trying to stay focused driving while also talking to him.
“Funny.” His thick drawl is dry but so softly teasing just below the surface.
“Was some new movie Sarah told me to watch but…fell asleep.” Joel admits low.
Thinking of him asleep on the plane clutches at something warm and deep in you.
Yes you can admit how badly you want Joel, how you picture what his calloused fingers would feel like on you, in you. But you also are finding yourself aching for more now…
Like falling asleep beside him while watching a movie, or sharing a meal with him and teasing him over his dry sense of humor.
It’s dangerous falling deeper like this.
Especially now in a blink you realize you’ve been talking to Joel this entire drive to your apartment.
“Shit sorry.” He realizes it when he sees the time. “Y’should’ve told me to fuck off. Don’t gotta waste your time talkin’ to some old ass like me.”
He rarely comments on his age, and his words sink hard into your gut.
“Trust me… I’m glad I get to talk to you.” You truthfully tell him.
“You’re the one who probably has better things to do than talk to me.” You add slightly dejected. The words even sting your lips.
“Like watching Field of Dreams.” You quickly add some light humor trying to dispel your heartache leaking in.
Joel snorts.
“Definitely would rather chat with you than watch that.” Joel mutters, but his world electrifies your skin.
“I’m flattered knowing I can beat Kevin Costner.” You joke. When he snorts amused, warmth fills you to the brim.
Someone in the distance calls out to Joel, and you know your time with him is limited. It’s confirmed when he sighs.
“Gonna be landing soon. Ya make it to your place okay?” He asks.
“I did, thank you. And thanks for keeping me company on the drive.” You smile to yourself.
“Don’t mention it. Uh, glad you made it back safe.” Joel replies and his words make you melt.
You say his name quick.
“Can you just… Text me when you make it to the hotel?” Just to know he’s safe. It’s simple, but it feels as if the words weigh a ton.
A moment passes.
“Yeah, will do.” Joel agrees.
He doesn’t text you. Instead Joel calls you when he gets to the hotel.
“Saw a full on fuckin’ fight at the airport when we landed.” Joel rambles immediately, and you learn how much of a secret gossip he is. While Joel breaks down all the details of what he saw, you realize he wanted to tell you about this.
A light burst in your chest because you want to tell Joel everything too.
And when your next semester starts, you tell him all you can.
The texting stays but evolves into more frequent phone calls. Joel listens to you with a gruff saint’s patience. He faintly picks up the names of your professors, even the name of your roommate. At one point he even stays on the phone with you when you cook dinner.
Joel calls during the stretch of waiting at the airports, a few times after games. Sometimes he rants about his teammates, sighs about his frustrations when they lose or when he ends up not doing well on the mound.
While every inch in your body still hums for Joel, it’s steady now - like you’re slowly accepting these emotions fully into your bloodstream and part of your existence.
You adore Joel, maybe more than you want to admit.
During a rare night out with your friends from class, feeling nice in your favorite outfit, courage courses through you. After posting a few photos from your night out, you also post a rather nice selfie.
You pray Joel sees it. Then you get a bit tipsy, and it takes all your willpower not to text Joel.
But the alcohol burns in you. Once you’re back at your apartment, in the safety of your room, you pull up your favorite video.
It’s a spring training video the Rangers made of the team preparing for the upcoming season. The video ranged from showing the guys on the field practicing, to them in the weight room.
There’s a nice small segment just on Cowboy Joel Miller. Specifically he’s training with a few weights and when you first saw it, your throat got so dry.
Joel is drenched in sweat. The simple worn navy blue shirt sticks to his body, highlighting the tone of his arms and width of his shoulders. Curls wet with sweat stick to his forehead. His concentrated face is sinful.
But not as hot as the sounds he makes.
The grunts, the soft growls, the exhales he gives lifting the weights… they drench your thoughts with images of him fucking.
You’ve never done this before, never gotten off on his videos. You never wanted to fall this far.
But it’s so hard when your body feels molten, so wet hearing with his groans directly in your ears. Your fingers trail down to relieve the throbbing wet ache between your legs.
Imagining Joel’s sweaty gorgeous body pressed against yours, picturing his thicker fingers in you, getting to taste him on your tongue - you come incredibly fast.
The next morning a text and a somber guilt wait for you.
Joel of course had messaged you.
Looks like you had fun last night
So he did see your pictures. A blistering heat crawls in your throat.
But reality sinks in fast. You got off to Joel. You don’t want to feel guilty. You reason there’s probably others who have maybe done it. But it does quietly eat at you.
So much that you don’t even reply to Joel for the whole day trying to sort your mind out. He’s the one that eventually calls you.
“Y’go out on a date or somethin’?” Joel asks about the night out, and your mind sputters to a halt.
“Oh uh, no. Just went out with some friends in class.”
“Oh.” He replies quick. “Well, looked like fun.”
You agree and thank him.
“But yeah, no dates for me.” You weakly laugh.
“Yeah? Any reason why?” Joel presses.
Because you’re partially head over heels for him, but you can’t admit that yet.
“No one’s asked me recently that’s all.” You reply simply. You’ve done the dating apps, had the headache mess of ghosting and awkward dates.
Joel snorts. “Pretty thing like you? Hard to imagine.”
His words, like a change up ball that drops wildly in the air, disorient you.
“Trust me, it’s real.” You dryly reply.
“And you? You must be seeing some famous celebrity in secret huh?” You teasingly ask.
You’ve seen the ESPN clips of the beautiful reporters flirting with him, cooing at how handsome he is. He probably could snag a supermodel or other famous person.
Joel barks a hollow laugh of a thing.
“No, none of that.” He answers.
“Ain’t not time for that or…mainly…haven’t found anyone who’s got the patience for me.”
Your heart sinks.
“Wait, what do you mean?” You quietly press.
He sighs.
“M’ older, a single dad. My schedule ain’t perfect. And those that have tried to uh… pursue something haven’t always had the best intentions.”
His voice trails off somber. You wonder how many just wanted him for his money or fame.
A grim cloud seems to settle above you.
“You’re a great guy Joel, an incredible one.” You earnestly tell him. “Those who can’t see it don’t deserve you.”
“And I have to say it but…you’re a real catch.” You go for the obvious baseball pun.
Joel’s chuckle is a beautiful low gruff treasure.
“That was bad.” You can almost picture him shaking his head. “But thanks…same uh, same goes for you. You’re smart, gorgeous. Someone will come around to see you’re worth it.”
You’re drowning in his words. They feel too much.
He ends up having to quickly end the call with his manager calling, and you’re thankful for it. Because this blooming rawness in you feels like it’s getting too much, yet not enough.
Joel’s compliments are sincere. But many feelings tangle you up. It hurts, like you’re stuck in a rose bush trying to get comfortable within the thorns.
Then, the universe decides to pull you away from Joel.
Classes kick up and the workload piles on. You’re exhausted. It even gets harder to reply to Joel as swiftly as you did. You even miss a few of his phone calls and don’t even call him back.
The days blur together.
Then, one morning you find a text waiting for you.
hope you’re alright
You want to cradle that message.
When you call Joel, it’s like not a day has passed between you and him. Your heart soars hearing his voice again.
“So uh…” Joel begins cautiously, and you’ve never heard him this nervous almost. “We’ll be heading your way into town soon.”
That’s right.
Caught up in the semester you completely forgot the team would be playing the Astros soon. Excitement immediately rises in you.
“Hope ya can come out and see us. And if ya do, let me know.” Joel suggests and you swear his voice sounds shy.
The minute the conversation ends, you try checking for tickets. But they’re a pretty penny. You jokingly circle the top section, the highest nosebleeds, and text him saying he needs to try and find you from here.
He texts back immediately.
Don’t worry about the tickets. Just head to will call and let them know you’re with me. Got it covered
That might be one of the hottest things you’ve ever read.
Game day can’t approach any faster. Your parents even mention the upcoming game when you call to check up.
“You should try to go!” Your dad urges, eager.
A part of you has wondered if Joel mentioned you to your dad. You’ve kept quiet, not saying a thing about whatever this is with Joel, and you now think so did Joel.
You take a small comfort in that.
When game day does arrive, you head to Minute Maid Park alone. Your closest friend and classmate couldn’t make it, and neither could your roommate. But for some reason, you’re slightly okay with being here by yourself.
At the ticket window, you nervously say that you’re here for Joel. Like if nothing they verify your name, and with an ease slide tickets your way.
Not just any tickets, but seats right by the Rangers dugout.
Still stunned, but now slightly lost, you can’t help but feel stranded in the stadium.
“You okay, sweetie?” A lovely voice comes and when you turn, you find a sweet older motherly woman. She wears a Texas Rangers jersey and another younger woman stands besides her in the same jersey. They both stare at you concerned.
“You lost?” The younger woman asks sympathetically.
It must be that obvious. The motherly older woman politely asks to check your tickets to point you in the right direction. She perks up.
“Aw look at that! You’re sitting close to us! Come on, we’ll show ya around!” She beams warmly.
“Wait, are you sure?” You ask worried.
“Oh of course,” the younger woman reassures you with a smile. “The stadium is so huge and besides, us Rangers fans gotta stick together.”
She then winks, noticing the Rangers shirt you bought and wore for the game.
You find out Malinda, the older woman, is the mother of the first baseman. And the other lady, Casey, is his wife.
Kindly, this sweet family adopts you, guiding you towards the section literally right besides the dugout on the other side of the net.
You’re stunned in shock yet again.
Even though your tickets are a few rows away from the two sweet ladies, they reassure you you’ll be fine sitting with them.
It’s beautiful and comforting.
“So, who are you here for?” Casey asks with a friendly gossip like whisper. “These seats are for friends and family, and I haven’t seen you around before.”
But then she quickly reassures you don’t have to explain if you don't want to.
You with a weak laugh you’re here to see Joel, adding that he’s a family friend. Her eyes go wide.
“Oh wow! And he warmed up today too so he might pitch!” She says excitedly.
Joel had texted you before the line up was confirmed that he would be warming up.
Don’t know if I’m gonna get put in but just in case
Even if he didn’t, you told him you just wanted to be there to support him.
With the Rangers being the visiting team, they bat first. You want to root for the guys to get a hit and get on base, but you also already selfishly want to see Joel.
Three outs come and the Rangers switch to take the field. No sign of Joel.
In fact he doesn’t show up until the fifth inning, and it happens so casually. Joel simply walks out from the dugout and takes your breath away.
The team wears their cobalt blue jerseys and the color flatters Joel marvelously.
It feels like seeing him for the first time all over again but through a deeper lens you can’t explain.
You clap and cheer with pride when he manages to strike out the first batter. Then the second.
Two strikeouts back to back.
Joel told you back in his younger days he struck out seven hitters in a row. Now for him to get two, much less strike out the third batter, is something to applaud and admire. And the Rangers fans here, including yourself, cheer loud when the team heads back for the next inning.
“Cowboy Miller in his golden age.” Someone off to the side whistles appreciatively.
You don’t fight the syrupy fondness swallowing you whole.
“It’s rare that a more…seasoned pitcher like Joel still is relied on,” your new friend Casey explains. “But it’s hard to see why not. Everyone’s been saying like he’s almost found a new groove and still has so much power.”
He’s a force you’re terribly in awe of.
Seeing the whip of how strong his body still pitches the ball with a dizzying speed, how handsome he looks under the baseball cap, you want to savor this as much as you can.
Joel manages to get two more strikes out in the second inning. Then by the seventh they get a hit off him but thankfully, no runs come in. Cowboy Miller ends the inning striking out the final batter. You, and the other Rangers fans present, erupt wild.
He did amazing.
Laser focused, locked in on the game, he doesn’t search the crowd or even glance up and you understand. The game gets intense when the Astros manage to hit a home run in the eight. In the end the Rangers win because of an error.
But it’s still a sweet victory.
You relish and warmly celebrate it with your co cheerleaders for the game that made you feel so welcomed with them. You’re about to head up and leave, start looking for an Uber ride home, when Malinda calls to you.
“Sweetie? Aren’t ya gonna wait with us and greet the guys!?” She asks with warm curious sweetness.
You can’t say no.
The commotion sweeps you into a neon coated excitement. There’s a special area sectioned off, almost in a backstage-like section that connects to the entry way for the visiting teams. You’re surprised at how many others wait here.
The team slowly trickles out of the locker room and into the hallway. You’re hilariously reminded of a class being let out.
Then the world then melts away when Joel walks out. Focused on his phone you almost want to call out to him, but your voice gets caught in your throat.
Putting his phone away Joel finally glances up and spots you.
Even with his baseball cap on, you see his eyes widen for a fraction. Your body reacts on its own moving towards him. But he also walks fiercely towards you.
The world blurs away for a moment and then without even thinking, you’re embracing him.
It happens so naturally you don’t even realize what you did until you blink and it’s like you’ve been thrown into cold water.
Panicking, you’re about to pull away until Joel’s arms slowly wrap around you.
“Good to see ya too.” He says low gruff but you’re taken out by the knees grateful your body doesn’t give out.
He smells of sweat, of the dirt on the field, and something sharply Joel, and it’s wonderful.
Quickly you draw yourself away to proudly tell him how amazing he did. Joel waves you off with a gruff noise as his eyes refuse to meet you, almost bashful.
It’s been so long since you’ve seen him this close, been in the same space as him. And it feels so different.
“Alright, dinner?” Someone says, and when you turn, you’re stunned to see it’s the team manager.
Guess this means you’ll be saying goodbye.
“Headin’ home?” Joel asks when he notices you staying back once everyone funnels outside.
“Uh yeah, gotta grab an Uber first. Didn’t wanna drive down here and deal with Houston traffic along with awful parking during a game.” You joke, and Joel snorts.
“Let me take ya back then.” He offers, and you almost drop your phone.
You scramble out reassuring Joel it’s fine.
“Besides, don’t you have dinner to go to?” And where would he even get a car to take you.
“S’fine. Would rather make sure you get home safe anyway.” He then tells you to hang tight then goes to grab one of the rental cars the team has on ready.
Because of course they do.
Your blood hums wild knowing Joel is taking you home, that you’re going to be alone with him. Even in this glimmering dusted dream you still want to tell Malinda and Casey goodbye and thanks for treating you so kindly.
You wish them well and even welcome their warm goodbye hug.
“Wish you could come to dinner!” Casey frowns.
“Maybe next time.” Her mother in law says bright.
Next time.
“Yes hope to see you at more games.” Casey grins and the possibility bubbles iridescent in you.
With a goodbye to them you wait for Joel. There are still a few others of the wives or girlfriends hanging around while the team sorts out where to go.
You haven’t turned to give them any attention. However something crawls on your skin like you’re hyper aware of being watched.
“Did you see how she hugged him? Probably just using him, poor Joel.” One of them whispers.
“She’s not even that pretty.” Another one giggles.
“Oh then you know he’s maybe just using her then! And if that’s the case then good for Joel.” The other replies with a searing joke that makes your stomach sick.
Joel returns, keys in his hand. “Ready to go?”
You weakly grin back.
You should be basking in this moment of finally getting to be alone with Joel, of getting to see him drive you around. Once in the car he took off his cap allowing you sight of his soft hair. The darkness of the car, the warmth of the city lights flickering by, all coat him glorious. Yet those comments from earlier fester poisonous and sour any hope of enjoying this.
You stay rather quiet while giving him directions to your place.
Joel however is surprisingly talkative.
“So you’ll have to give me recommendations of places to go around here.” His voice even sounds just traces softer, higher almost - like he’s happy being here.
And it kills you.
“Y’seem quiet, you okay?” He notices it of course, ever aware.
“Yeah, just a bit tired. Didn’t know the game would take that much outta me.” You lie.
Eventually you arrive at your apartment complex.
“Your place is nice.” Joel admires as he helps you out of the car like the Texan gentleman he is. He even follows you to your door.
You graciously thank him again for this night and for taking you home.
“You sure you’re okay?” He asks again.
You walk a few steps away from him. The night all around is still quiet, feels soupy with how much hangs in you.
You refuse to cry about this, don’t want to get emotional. If anything, you deserve to treat this like an adult.
“Joel…” you start cautiously, already hating the way your voice wavers.
“Yeah?” His voice stays steady, unbothered, but his eyes furrowing say otherwise.
“What…what is this? What are we?” You ask as steady as you can, but your tone continues to crack.
Joel’s eyes brow furrow and his mouth closes, tightening his jaw.
“Just…good friends.” He replies simply, almost cold. “Just showing my pal’s daughter a nice night.”
There it is.
Your soul deflates. So all the times you’ve felt like this might be something, maybe it's just been you wishing it would be.
So salvaging whatever dignity left, you nod.
“Thanks again, Joel.” You reply briskly and return walking towards your door.
He says your name. It stops you dead in your tracks.
“Why? Why d’ya ask that?” He asks, pressing firm and hard.
You turn back to him, and a deep scowl is etched on his face.
“It doesn’t matter.” You answer.
“The fuck does that mean?” He snaps a bit sharp.
“It means what it means.” You fire back.
“Bullshit. Why did you ask that?” Joel growls out firmer.
“Even if I told you, it doesn’t matter.” You repeat.
“Stop sounding like a fuckin’ owl.” His voice rises hard and fast, like a hand slamming on the wall.
It startles you, makes your eyes water and something in you shakes. Mainly because you know this is beginning to taste like the end. The smallest trace of hope is dissipating right before you.
You blink back tears, and immediately Joel’s face falls.
“Honey, I’m sorry-”
Shaking your head, you cut him off. Not even the sweet pet name he effortlessly uses can shake you.
Through gritted teeth you tell him to go.
“Not when you’re this upset.” He urges.
Through tears a sad water laugh escapes you and Joel’s eyes go cloudy.
“I’m realizing…I’ll never be anything to you then just your friend's kid, huh?” Your voice is waterlogged and you can’t fight it.
“You are.” He states simple and straightforward.
You nod, swallowing back the heartache boiling over.
“Can’t be anythin’ more than that.” Joel adds through mutter.
“Why?” You now ask him. Under the amber light of your apartment’s hallway the most frustrated cloudy look hardens his face.
His eyes scan your face then he steps closer towards you
“Don’t act dumb, sweetheart.” His voice rips out low cruel, slightly harsh.
You’re not and you tell him that.
“I…” the words you’ve held locked up so fiercely in your heart now sneak out from their bars to escape.
“I’d give anything to be yours, Joel.” You croak barely realizing you even said that.
He inhales, and his face goes taunt.
You wait for the sharp reply, even brace for it.
Instead Joel swoops in, kisses you wild like a sudden storm, and presses you against the door of your apartment.
Greedily, you claw onto him not wanting to ever let this go, to let him go. Your mouth begs him more to invade and consume. And he does so with a steady hunger.
The clamor into your apartment is messy, but at one point Joel cautiously stops to look around.
“My roommate’s visiting family…” you reassure, kissing his neck and softly under the side of his jaw with delicate cautious lips.
“Just you and me.” You whisper soft.
Joel takes command the minute you lead him to your room.
“Thought about this. Fuck, think about ya all the damn time.” He growls against your neck as he slides your bra off and runs a callous hand over your chest.
“Fucked my fist that first night you went swimmin’ at m’house.” Joel’s words make you whine and then his lips lick against your skin trying to savor you.
“Me too.” You admit through a whimper. “Touched myself thinking of you.”
Joel freezes.
“Tell me,” he says rather calmly, deadly almost.
Your syrupy lust begins fading away when you realize what you said, what he asks for, and what your answer will be.
Your lips and eyes shut close.
Then Joel’s warm breath, like a ghost, crawls against up your chest and tickles against your ear now.
“Come on, honey,” his voice is utterly decadent with a plea. “Tell me, please.”
You swallow hard telling Joel you don't want him to get weirded out.
He hums against your neck already starting to suck a mark against your skin. Your eyes roll back, and the embarrassment is quickly fading away.
“Promise, I’ll be okay.” Joel reassures you with a mumble against your skin.
So with a shaky voice, you weakly admit how you touched yourself to videos of him.
He groans.
“Baby, oh fuck, fuckin - shit.” Joel sputters out hard, like he just got kicked in the gut, and you’re worried until his lips smash into yours.
He devours you.
You’re swept into a tangled dizzying frenzy. Your clothes practically get ripped off as do Joel’s while he clutches onto you and licks into your mouth.
“That’s my girl. Knew you’d be m’good girl.” He says almost drunk and you’re done for.
You fall into the chasm with no hopes of turning back. But you don’t want to.
Joel feels like a god carving open your universe. You want to consume him and want him to consume you. He becomes your center of gravity.
In the aftermath, you’re left basking in Joel’s warmth and never want to leave.
Even though you were in his arms, Joel had to sit up to take a call and now scrolls through his phone. Your fingers trace his beautiful back.
You’re thankful for all the soft lamps you bought that now melt him into a dreamlike glow.
“Joel.”
He hums a gruff gentle noise that says he’s listening.
“I don’t…” you begin softly, then tell him your doubts. You don’t want him to think you’re simply using him for his status or money.
“Joel… you could quit or retire tomorrow and work with your brother as a contractor and I’d still always want you the way I want you.” Your deliciously aching limbs, the soft afterglow, all of it has you speaking soft and freely.
You never wanted Joel because of his fame or even because of the forbidden taste of him being friends with your dad. You wanted Joel for deeper reasons, some that have carved out a chasm in your heart.
You explain this all to him best as you can without rambling or sounding silly.
Joel sighs.
“Y’shouldn’t.” His voice is a hollow rumble. “I’m old, friends with your dad. We shouldn’t be doin’ this.”
Now a bitter venom spills in you.
You glare at his back, how his shoulders slump defeated while you sit up
“I'm an adult, Joel. And if that’s all you’re worried about then sorry it’s a shit reason.” You launch back.
Over his shoulder he glares at you.
“If…” you swallow hard. “If you’re the one who wants to leave, because i’m that young, or you really don't want this or don’t feel what I feel, then fine. At least tell me that.”
“But I care about you. And I want to make this, us, work.” You finish firmly, even with how much emotions clash in your chest.
Joel sighs again. His eyes face turns away now down downcasted.
“Didn’t wanna want you the way I do. You’re so bright, fucking’ smart and so g’damn gorgeous.” He softly admits.
A pause settles between him and you.
“Y’could be with someone younger, less complicated.” Joel admits low.
“Don’t want anyone younger or less complicated. Just want you.” You reassure with a soft steady mutter.
He goes quiet again.
“Used to not get bothered when I started leavin’ away games by myself. With Tommy married and the business booming, then the girls startin’ to have their own lives…I didn’t mind doing this alone.”
Underneath his words you catch it, his rusting loneliness.
“But then…these past few months…and now today seeing ya waitin’ for me…” he says clipped, like the rest of his words are caught in his throat and he can’t free them yet
Joel turns, and his eyes bore into you.
The silence stays as you stare unflinchingly back at him.
He doesn’t need to say anything else. You don’t think you have to either. Like a magnetic pull, it’s effortless moving towards him. Joel’s warm large calloused hand, seasoned from so many seasons of hard work, of pitching, cradles your face. You kiss him with every inch of your heart.
Even after spending the night, you’re surprised Joel hasn’t left yet. He even comments about figuring out lunch plans with you.
“You have another game today, Cowboy.” You comment.
The term makes his eyebrows rise, and the most coy smirk tugs his face making him look so charming.
“Got today off to rest, ya little shit.” It’s affectionate. “Besides my back ain’t what it use to be and after goin’ more rounds with ya this morning-”
In the middle of your living room you rush to kiss him.
The rest of the day unfolds like a dream drenched and stitched from every domestic fantasy you’ve ever had. Joel stands in your kitchen when you make him a quick lunch and you laugh apologizing that your fridge isn’t MLB diet certified. Joel steals your last saved snack after that joke.
Cuddled snug on the couch with him, you try watching a movie but Joel, so greedy and handsy, ends up fucking your brains out with his tongue.
When dinner rolls around, you order from your favorite local takeout place and Joel pays for everything. You ignore all the work you need to do for the week and don’t care. You’re here at this moment and want to stay crystalized in it for as long as you can.
But tomorrow is the last day before the team leaves to Miami to play the Marlins.
While showering with him, you wrap yourself against Joel’s back already dreading his leave. He seems to sense it too because his hands squeezes yours.
Against your shower wall he glides into you tender and slow, almost trying to draw out every inch of this.
Later that night, you try staying up but the day begins settling in. Your eyes flutter trying to fight sleep.
He mutters your name soft while his fingers run soft against your side.
“Hm?” You answer, trying hard to fight your tired eyes.
“Don’t want ya to think i’m ever using you, honey. You’re not just some young thing keepin’ me company.”
His words are simple, but they erupt so much in you.
Joel had been spooning you from behind, but now you immediately turn around to burrow your face against his chest. You reassure him and his arms tighten around you wonderful chains you wish never break.
But the next morning arrives.
“Gonna come to our last game here?” Joel asks while he packs up.
“Don’t know, I heard you guys still have that really old guy who might be pitching.” You say with a shrug.
His face frowns hard, but Joel moves to playfully smack your ass while you laugh. He quickly draws you in for another kiss.
You have class tomorrow and work you need to jump on, but you go to the game. Joel doesn’t play, but you don’t mind. Getting to hug him goodbye one last night in the shadow of the stadium is worth it.
“Text ya when we get to the airport.” Joel promises, secretly placing a soft kiss on your head.
That night when you get home you order not one, but two Joel Miller jerseys.

summary : your dad and caitlin’s dad worked together and made lots of money so when they had a scheduled buisness trip and decided to bring the whole family down you and caitlin where put to room together.
i made this at 6am so if it sucks my apologies!

your sitting in your cabana in Bora Bora waiting to be told the rooms suituation only to be hit with total disappointed “I just got off the phone with Brent and we decided you and caitlin will be staying in a cabana together while we are in Bora Bora” your family was close with the clark family because for generations they worked together in the family industry. you where close with Brent and Anne, along with their sons except their daughter caitlin. she often picked arguments with you and she didn’t bother hiding her hatred for you. nobody knew exactly why she hated you, your guy’s parents always thought it was because you where the same age (16) and similar in many ways and equally stubborn. although caitlin wasn’t always like this, when you first met when you where 4 and she was a sweet heart up until you guys where 14, thats when it all changed and compliments changed to snarky comments. something in her changed the way she viewed you she went from idolizing you and protecting you to being disgusting by you and filled with hatred towards you. but by the end of the trip it would all change because by the end of 3 weeks shared in a cabana in bora bora together something was bound to happen.
“do i seriously have to share a room with her i mean she hates me and i don’t want to deal with her the entire time” you say trying to convince your dad to make any change in the vacation arrangements. “actually it was her idea she wanted to share a room with you, wouldn’t let anybody else get the spot” great. her goal was to make the vacation terrible for me. “please dad im begging you its a trap her entire goal is to ruin my vacation” he just rolled his eyes at you “they will be here any minute so better hurry up and choose your side of the room.” you’ve got to be fucking kidding me. as soon as he walks out you hear her voice making small talk with your father, she has always kisses up to the adults and the second they turned a blind eye she completely changed. she of course walks in with a attitude already and waits for you to tell her the room arrangement “so i picked the left side of the room so that leaves you the right and i’ll probably go explore in about 30 minutes once im unpacked.” she walks past you making sure the shove against you, not hard but hard enough for you to notice. “look if you just forced yourself into being my roommate just to make my life hell ill gladly go find somebody to room with instead” hopefully trying to get her to quit whatever act she had going on but instead she just laughs at you “your not scary so just sit down princess, and i think i will join you on your little scavenger hunt” shes unbelievable.
TIME SKIP.
its now been 3 days that where full of hiding from caitlin making sure to be out by the time she was awake and come back when she was asleep. shes caught up to what you where doing but to entitled with her ego to question it so instead she drops subtle hints to inform you that she knows what your doing and to cut it out. but you genuinely have no want to argue with her. a good this is you met this girl Maddie on you trip, you brought her by your cabana once but it was extremely awkward with caitlin there, all of a sudden she became extremely possessive with you and even putting her arm around you saying that you where her best friend. you thought that maybe she just didn’t have friends back home and it would make sense with the way she acted.
you where brushing your hair getting ready to meet up with Maddie but instead caitlin walks in on you in the bathroom, “where are you going?” is she being serious? she treated you like shit for the past 3 days and all of a sudden wants to know where your going. “im going to go swimming with Maddie ill be back around 10.” she immediately shuts down you idea and tells you otherwise “no your not im tired of having to wait and stay up at night cause you want to go out with some girl all day and night.” “dude caitlin what the fuck are you even talking about right now, maybe act like a normal person on vacation and go make some friends clearly your lacking some.” she scoffs at your true, but mean comment. “im not lacking any friends nor do i need any, and you one to talk about friends in supposed to be your best friend and yet your blowing me off to hang out with some random girl” best friend? she wishes. “what are you talking about best friend? we are far from friends because you cant get your head out of your own ass. now if you will get out my way so i can hangout with my friend and enjoy my vacation away from you” you shove out the way not giving her the chance to even disagree with you and walk out the door only to greet maddie’s face as she is already there waiting for you, before she can even greet you, you drag her by the arm and run down the long hallway to the water. “im sorry caitlin was giving me a tough time and she was close to coming out and breaking the door down” she laughs thinking you where joking but only if she knew what you had to put up with. “i think she might be in love with you.” you cant believe the words that just came out of her mouth. “whats with everybody and trying to ruin my day.”
ANOTHER TIME SKIP
its now 10pm and you said your goodbyes to your friend as you parted ways only to be greeted with a locked door, you knock on the door begging caitlin to let you in turning the door knob hoping that she will listen but nothing works, your last hope is to say something you know would piss her off and give you a long night but you just deeply wanted to go to bed. “caitlin seriously let me in before i have to room with Maddie.” once you finish your sentence you immediately hear foot steps coming you way to have your door swing open greeting a angry cait, you push past her “seriously you locked me out? why cant you not be a asshole for one day” she rolls her eyes at you “me, im the asshole now? and stop bringing up Maddie i couldn’t give to fucks about your friend.” unbelievable “well clearly you did cause you let me in as soon as i mentioned rooming with her, and you know what i am going to room with her because thankfully she wouldn’t kick me out my own room.” as soon as you said that her face got red and she pressed you up against the door pushing you bodies close together and her forehead resting on yours “your. not. leaving. this. room. got it?” you didn’t know if it was the butterflies in your stomach or her hands gripping at your waste and her mouth and body extremely close to yours but you craved her touch and you wanted more and the only way you know how to get more was by pissing her off. “or what? you cant control me caitlin especially not with the way you act” there was only one thing you wanted to hear from her and it was for her to beg for you. after all these years of constant arguements someone who claims they hate you, ends up needing you so badly. “cmon cait i want to hear you beg for me to stay.” she hesitates hoping you would give up “ you can be serious, im not going to beg.” you just smile at her words “im serious and if you wont beg im rooming with Maddie.” she groans at your words “fine.” theres a long silence for her mentally trying to prepare herself for what shes about to say “please y/n, don’t go room with her.” there was those words you wanted to hear so badly although it wasn’t enough. something in you just clicked “aww is that really what you want baby?” her eyes widen staying their for a second before deciding her next move, no going back now. her lips attack yours and her hand that was on your hip now find your neck making you moan into the kiss, it was the shock you have because this is the first time in a while that she has shown affection for you. she pulls away to gather her breathe but before she pulls you in for more you stop her “y’know i think i have more control over you then you let me know” she gives you her little smirk shes known for “oh yeah? why don’t you show me princess? you up for a challenge?” maybe this was your chance of getting your relationship back, you couldn’t miss your opportunity “of course.”

It was finally the day you’d been waiting for—the day you bragged about to the entire clan for months on end just thinking about it. It was a beautiful day too, the sound of the trees leaf’s blowing through the breeze and the small chirps of birds, most importantly, the faint breathing above you.
You and Neteyam’s 4 year anniversary
Your eyes fluttered open at the sound, gaze meeting the beautiful boy above me who had still been fast asleep.
You smile as you study your mates features, your fingertips tracing lines over his biceps. He always slept in later then you—and luckily, your daughter hadn’t been up yet to interrupt his slumber. Like always, his arms were wrapped around you firmly—even when he was sleeping. He never let you go, waking up everytime you’d try to get out of his grasp at night to do something.
And yes, you heard that right, you and Neteyam had a daughter. Manaia, a beautiful little girl with the longest hair you had ever seen, her appearance favoriting Neteyam’s features much more then yours. She was so sweet and learned pretty quickly just like him, even only being 2.
Usually, she’d be the one to wake the both of you up, but Neteyam almost always took care of her for you, ushering you to stay in bed and telling you he’d handle it. He hated waking up before she was born, wanting to stay in bed all day long instead of working, but now? Now he loved waking up to take care of her and you, making you both breakfast if you slept in. The bond he had with her was so adorable, he’d even let her do his face paint before he went hunting.
You loved how Neteyam was with Naia, how gentle and protective he had been over her. You knew she was going to follow in Neteyam’s footsteps once she grew older, becoming a warrior. You didn’t see the problem with it, but Neteyam always overprotected her, going on and on about how she didn’t need to be a warrior because he’d always protect her.
She’s often sleep between you two at night, both you and her curled up to Neteyam for comfort. Today, it was just you two, because as soon as you ate breakfast, you had to go help Mo’at with the people, and your parents would be taking Naia for the night so you and him could be alone for a night.
You were beyond excited. You hadn’t had a day to yourself in so long due to you and him always working or tending to your daughter, never finding time for each other except for when you slept.
You nuzzled closer to your mate, his warmth making you smile against his chest. You felt him shuffle as you laid your head under his chin, inhaling his forestry scent. You felt so safe, like nothing in the world could touch you as long as he was here.
“Good morning, pretty girl” Your heart thumps against your chest at his voice, a smile tugging at your lips as you looked up, his eyes still closed.
"Ma’Teyam" you whispered just above a breath, reaching up to touch his braids. He was gorgeous—the most handsome boy you had ever seen. “We have to get up soon”
“I think we can spare a few more minutes” He hums, taking hold of the back of your leg to swing it over onto his lap. You laugh at his words, allowing him to sit you in a straddle, hands laid at your hips as you lean down to the boy, pressing your lips to his.
You wished you could have taken the day off to spend with each other, just one day to yourselves without a care in the world—all alone, secluded from everyone. Neteyam loved that idea, having you all to himself for a day? You could do so much, like you had been teenagers again.
He guides your hips against his and you hum against his lips, pulling away once you felt what he was trying to show you. “Neteyam, we can’t” He ignored you, sitting up so you had now been sitting in his lap, against him as he captured your lips in another kiss.
Your arms wrapped around his neck, hands entwined in his hair as his hands roamed your body. It wasn’t even in a sexual way, but you couldn’t think of much else. You moaned against him, a hand laid against his chest. That was it. He had started, and you prayed to Eywa he was gonna finish it.
“Do you want breakfast, Beautiful?” He pulls away but you shake your head, twisting one of his braids between your finger.
“You got me started, Teyam” You whine and his forehead creased at your words, titling his head like he had been studying your face.
“I was just kissing you, baby. I can’t kiss you?” You glared at your mate clearly acting stupid and he kissed your cheek, removing his hands from you. “I’m gonna make breakfast” he pulled you off of him gently, getting out of your hammock.
“Nete-“
“You want fruit? Like usual?” He asks, completely debunking your confusion as he tied his hair up. “Fruit it is” he leaned down to you, giving you a small kiss, “happy anniversary, Pretty girl”
He left you dumbfounded on your shared hammock, not saying anything else or giving you another look before he went on his way. You were so confused, and so very angry. He did not just pull that on your anniversary.
》* 。 • ˚ ˚ ˛ * 。° 。 • ˚《
Time went by during the day while you helped Mo’at with the wounded warriors that came in and out of the tent, having to deal with multiple gashes from the hunting party they had just attended to.
You barely spoke to Neteyam when you left the cave, letting him hand your daughter off to his mother while you made your way to the healers tent. You wore his favorite family appropriate clothing, and his eyes wouldn’t leave your body when you left—even with Mo’at there.
“You take forever” you smacked the boys head making him hiss, Rubbing the spot you hit. “It wasn’t even that serious!” The youngest sully brother exclaimed. He had only been there for five minutes.
“It’s only been five minutes, Lo’ak” You argue, the sound of your name being called cutting him off before he could speak.
“Y/N, look!” Tuk ran into the tent, slowing down when Mo’at yelled at her. “I found so many!” She sat next to you, showing you the many flowers that sat in her hand.
“Their so pretty, Tuk” you ruffled her hair as she started to name them, showing them to you one by one.
“And this is my favorite one!” Tuk giggled, showing you a dark blue flower she had picked and you laughed, continuing to patch Lo’ak’s back. “I can’t wait to have an Ikran, she’s gonna be pink!”
“Tuk, they can’t be pin-ow!” Lo’ak turned to glare at you, a smile appearing across your face as you lifted your foot from his tail. “Would you stop with that!”
A whistle echoed from outside, getting closer to the tent as you continued to listen to Tuk talk about her future ikran. You already knew it was him, his scent giving him away.
“Ah, my baby bro, the mighty warrior” Your mate teased, ruffling his brothers hair. “Weren’t that mighty, huh?” Lo’ak pushed him away from you two, rolling his eyes at Neteyam’s laugh. You avoided contact with your mate, still angry from this morning. “What is it this time, Syulang?”
You ignore him, telling yourself to focus on Lo’ak’s wounds but you couldn’t when Neteyam’s gaze was practically tattooed to your face. You felt the heat rise in your cheeks as he walked toward you, standing above you without saying a word. Eywa, the effect he had on you…
“Okay, your done” you pat the brothers back, standing to your feet to put away the supplies you used on him. You drained the bloody cloth, Neteyam watching your every move very closely, almost amused at your pettiness. The sight of you in that outfit did so many things to him, and he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t ready to rip it off of you and take you right in that moment.
But Lo’ak must’ve noticed, because he just couldn’t help but ask, “isn’t it your anniversary?” While you stayed silent and to your tasks, Neteyam gave his brother a look, nodding toward the doorway out. “Looks like I’m way more mighty when it comes to relationships” Neteyam hissed at his brother, only making him laugh as he pulled Tuk to leave the tent with him, her little protesting voice making you frown.
You truly didn’t want to talk to him, not here and not now. It wasn’t even that you were mad, you were frustrated and he left you like that. You hummed as you placed a few herbs into one of the small stone bowls, crushing it at the sound of his voice.
“Fair play” His arms wrapped around your waist as he pressed his stomach against your back, his head between your neck watching you crush the herbal mix in your hands. “This outfit, you know what it does to me, don’t you?”
Even though your heart was beating out of your chest, you once again ignored the boy, not daring to show him how jelly he made your legs just by talking. “You can’t stay mad at me forever, baby. It’s our anniversary” your ears flatten against your head as you bite down on your bottom lip, feeling him pull you even closer then before, making it almost impossible not to feel what was between his legs.
“Neteyam, I am working” you dismiss him but he doesn’t care, only chuckling in your ear with a small squeeze to your hips before turning you to face him, a gasp leaving your mouth at the sudden movement.
He grabs the bowl from your hands and places it to the side, wrapping his hand around your throat to pull you closer to him. You looked around, worried Mo’at or another warrior would come walking in at any moment, but he didn’t let you continue.
Your breath catches in your thought as he pulls you up by your thighs, placing you on the cold Ledge that the herbal mix had previously been sitting on. You kept quiet but your body was crying for him to touch you, legs not being able to stay still like they were begging him to touch you.
“Aw, Baby. Your so cute when you beg” he praises, capturing your lips in a passionate kiss. It was always so hard to stay mad at Neteyam, he knew you inside and out, making it impossible for you to disregard his presence. His hands traveled your body, slipping his tongue into your mouth before you could.
It wasn’t until you felt his hand enter your loincloth that you pulled away from him, shaking your head as you grabbed his wrist.
“Come on, Syulang. Let’s just act like teenagers again” his free hand cupped the side of your face and he moved closer, your silence being enough for him to resume his actions from before.
He kisses your lips again, a small moan escaping your mouth as you felt his fingers against your core, muffled by his mouth against your own. You tried your hardest to keep your cool but you couldn’t when it came to him, not even for a minute.
“So fucking wet, Baby. You like the idea of someone walking in, don’t you? Someone finding you completely drunk off my touch?” You whined, hands flying to his hair as you felt one of his fingers enter you, curling it against your walls and whispering sweet nothings into your ear. “Quiet or they’ll hear you”
“Neteyam” you whimper in his ear, your voice making his eyes squeeze shut. He was trying so hard to compose himself, but your pretty noises and the way you cried his name made it so hard. Thank Eywa the tent’s cloth that covered the entrance had been down, because someone definitely would’ve seen you by now.
“So good for me, baby. My pretty girl, you look so fucking good like this” his forehead pressed against yours as he sunk another finger inside you, watching your expression twist as you tugged on his braids.
“S-someone will hear” you choked lowly as he pumped his fingers into your core, curling them the deepest they could go. You watched him chuckle at your struggle and y ou felt that familiar feeling begin to build up in the pit of your stomach, hand grasping his arm as your head fell back against the wall. “Teyam, I can’t keep quiet..!” You whispered desperately into his ear, biting so hard onto your lip that you were sure you drew blood.
“Shhh, don’t worry about that, pretty girl. They won’t hear a thing” he kisses you and you cry into his mouth, pulling him closer to you. “You know I love you, Syulang”
“Mmm, I love you more” you pull his face back down to you, kissing his lips again. Something felt off, you were on cloud nine just a second ago, but now it felt like you looked stupid, moaning and begging over nothing. You looked down and sure enough, Neteyam had retracted his dripping fingers from your core, a smirk plastered across his face.
“That was fun, but I have to go take care of some things” You stare at the boy, not knowing whether to beg or yell. That stupid smirk on his face made you so angry, and how he looked at you while he sucked his fingers clean from your wetness, he was so fucking evil. “Why the long face? It felt good, didn’t it?”
You were angry, so very angry at your mate as you watched him feel no mercy for you—not even on your anniversary. You pulled your loincloth back into place and hopped off the counter, pushing him away from you. “If you don’t want to make me feel good, I’ll get Kaonu to do it” His once happy face now turned into an angry one, his eyes scanning your body only making him even more mad.
He knew you were just trying to get him mad, but it was working. Kaonu was the only guy who ever tried to get to you after Neteyam stated you were his, not a care in the world you had a mate and it made Neteyam so fucking angry.
You yelped as he pulled you to him by your neck once again, his other hand tugging your hair to make you look up at him. “I know your joking, but go near that Skxawng and I’ll fucking ruin you, got it?” Your knees fell weak at his voice but you kept your pride, staring back at him as he chuckled, shaking his head.
“Y/N? Oh, there you are! I’ve been looking everywhere for you!” Kiri entered the tent as you both looked over, a warrior walking in behind her. “I need you to patch this one up, it’s pretty bad”
Neteyam kissed the top of your head, leaning down to whisper in your ear, “I’ll see you tonight, Ma’Tìyawn” you watched him leave the tent with a stone cold expression, Kiri looking between you two with confusion.
“Okaaayy… I’m gonna go now” You nod your head, snapping out of your thoughts once she left and the boy sat on the ground. Oh Eywa, how you were going to kill your mate.
》* 。 • ˚ ˚ ˛ * 。° 。 • ˚《
“Y/N, I can’t let you take him, my grandmother said-“
“I don’t care, Kiri. I can take him, you go home” you cut her off, finishing up the last patch on the man in front of you. “Okay, your all good” You told the man, dropping the cloth into the bucket as he thanked you, leaving the now semi dark tent. It was late, but there was one more warrior left and you wanted to help. You were still mad at neteyam, and dreaded going home any time soon.
Kiri left after realizing she couldn’t win that argument, going to help Mo’at in her own tent. You heard the footsteps approach your tent and you called, telling them you’d be with them in just a minute.
“Y/N” Your stomach churned at the voice and you turn around, watching him walk through with a nervous laugh. “You uh… you look great”
Oh great mother, it was kaonu, and you prayed that Neteyam wasn’t on his way to pick you up. You smile at the man, walking toward him with a new bucket and ushering him to sit. Kaonu wasn’t a bad guy, he just didn’t have boundaries, and you knew If neteyam found out you were helping him after your talk, he’d be more than angry.
“How have you been?” You ask the male and he shrugs, watching as you wipe his bleeding arm off. “Are you still seeing Jhanua?” He shakes his head and silently tense, his eyes were on you so hard, and it made you slightly uncomfortable.
“Where’s Neteyam?”
“Kaonu, don’t start this, please” you sigh and he chuckles, shaking his head at your words. “He is your Ole’Eyktan, I am your Tsahìk and you need to respect that”
“How can I respect it when my Ole’Eyktan is mated to the most beautiful girl in the clan?” You glare at him, now he’d pissed you off. “He’s doesn’t deserve you”
“Stop talking before I hurt you even more, Kaonu” You patched his wounds, ignoring his next words just trying to get this over and done with. It wasn’t until you heard the voice outside the tent that your ears perked. “Shit”
You placed the bandages over his arm quickly, trying your hardest to finish before you were caught, but you should’ve known it was too late. By the time you were done, Neteyam was walking through the tents entrance, the smile on his face instantly fading once he locked eyes with the situation in front of him.
“Neteyam-“
“Speak of the devil” Kaonu mumbled under his breath before he stood to his feet after you, turning to give you a smile. “Great seeing you, Y/N” you looked down as he chuckled, making his way out of the tent with his head held high before stopping next to neteyam. “Happy anniversary by the way”
You didn’t move, afraid of what your mate had to say. You knew you shouldn’t have took that last warrior. You should have listened to kiri.
“My Sweet girl” He chuckled, but before you could look up, he was already gripping your arm, pulling you to him. “Let’s go” his voice was mean and his look was meaner. He didn’t understand how this even happened, he specifically told the healers you were not aloud to help him, even in an emergency.
So how the hell did he get into your tent?
“Neteyam, I promise I was just patching him up” you plead as you left the tent and headed to where his ikran sat, running your hands along its back before getting on. Neteyam enclosed your small frame between the two of them, kissing your head in attempt to sooth your nerves.
Great mother, what did you get yourself into…

was i the asshole for dating both a dad and his son at the same time and not telling them about each other?
that one's wild as hell, i know.
let me get this cleared up in advance; this is NOT a fandom thing, everyone in this story is male and OF COURSE an adult (M and i are similar aged but A was a very young father so he's not much older), they both knew i was polyamorous and i was free to have other partners without having to tell them everyone i was dating. this isn't a problem of ages OR cheating. also this was pretty long ago.
so a while back, i was very close with this guy M, and his dad A. i actually met A first, through work, but ended up hanging out with M more due to us being closer in age. i did and still do love them both equally. i started hooking up with each of them (separately of course) and it turned into a relationship. i loved them more than just sex.
but heres the thing, i never told them i was dating the other. again, with the solutions we worked out for my polyamory, this wasn't a case of cheating, and if it were anyone else, i wouldn't be asking this, but it feels a little more important since i was sleeping with their son/dad.
there are a few reasons i didn't tell them, though. i mean, half of it was cause of awkwardness, it would be really weird for them to know that their boyfriend was also with their son/dad. but more specifically, they had a very strained relationship. M was disabled, and cause of that, his dad was kinda too coddling and was weird about M having a sex life despite him being an adult. M didn't like A that much either because of some personal stuff, but A is not a bad person, it was just a misfortune of raising a child young and alone. my country is also not very perfect with gay laws, and while i knew they both were queer, i still didn't want to out either of them to each other anyway.
it was just a coincidence both relationships formed, also. i am very open about being bisexual, and each of them confided in me separately that they were gay too, and it developed from there cause we cared about each other alot. i wasn't trying to cause amything or be sneaky, and i loved them both equally and didn't want to have to choose.
i still care about them but due to completely unrelated circumstances im not in contact with either anymore, though things ended on a good note with both, it wasn't a messy breakup. but i was recounting this as a funny dating story to my newer friends, and some of them said that was really shady of me and even that it was indirect incest? which i dont think is a thing, but it might be.
i can't do anything about it now, but i have been thinking it over and maybe it was a shady thing to do after all. so am/was i the asshole for this?
What are these acronyms?

I am drunk and i come to you with a request, plz give me something alador x darius please i need it no ones written a fic in ages and im too lazy to finish my own just give me something you are my last hope 😭😭😭 /J
Unfortunately, I can't draw anything new right now but I have some headcanons.
I've seen people portray Darius as the flirty one but realistically I don't think as adults he would be attempting to flirt with Alador, unless maybe it's after they get together.
As teenagers, I can see Darius "jokingly" flirting with Alador or just unintentionally getting him flustered (Amity gets her tomato face from her dad after all). Since they were best friends back then Darius was more open about liking Alador, though (seemingly) platonically at the time.
As adults however Darius keeps up the act of not liking Alador. (If you notice in the show DARIUS is the one who keeps starting shit between them). Even after Belos's defeat, I think they'd have to start talking again to work together but Darius would still act hostile towards Alador to avoid showing he still cares about him. Now Darius would be the one constantly getting flustered over little things like we saw in the finale. Meanwhile, Alador remains oblivious.
Darius genuinely cares about Alador's well-being but tries to hide it. Saying stuff like how Alador needs to not overwork himself and take breaks and then follows it up with "You need to set a good example for your kids. If you can't even take care of yourself, how are you gonna take care of them?" as a cover-up. Although said cover-up actually does make Alador try to take care of himself.
Darius would also be constantly reminding him to eat. I've seen people point out it looks like Alador has a dad bod in the epilogue, he'd eating healthier which is what led to the weight gain.
At the start, Alador would keep reverting back to his old ways of overworking and not taking breaks before having to be reminded by Darius again. Although Alador initially listens to him just to set a good example for his kids, eventually he genuinely doesn't want to "disappoint" Darius.
I imagine an instance where when Darius asks him if he's eaten yet and the answer is no, Alador starts to get a bit embarrassed about it. Meanwhile, Darius is thinking "Is he... blushing??? I didn't know he could feel shame." lol.
Alador isn't good at expressing himself either, specifically, he's not very good with his words which often leads to him unintentionally offending Darius. He often shows affection through acts of service which can also lead him to overwork himself. Especially after being married to Odalia which made him think that working to prove your love was normal in a relationship.
I had an idea once that after they get together when Alador comes back from work with sore shoulders/back, Darius would offer to rub them for him. Alador's not used to having a partner that cares more about him than the work he can do for them.
I can go either way if they're together in the epilogue. I think it would take a while (years?) for them to get into a relationship after being on bad terms for years. But they COULD be together at that point and Darius was just embarrassed about freaking out like that. Alador had the mini Abomination in his pocket after all 🤔

(this post is going to be kinda chaotic because I have many thoughts to share but I'm struggling with being coherent right now)
I'm 28 and I still live with my parents. But I think I need to seriously start considering moving out, or something.
Living with my parents never bothered me much. Part of me was happy about it because like, why should I move out and take care of myself if I can live with someone else and not worry about anything?
But recently I've been trying to work on my issues and I feel like I'm never going to fully heal unless I escape my mother. She is abusive. She's been messing with my mind for so many years that I don't really feel like my own person. I'm almost 30 and I don't know who I am, I don't know how to be an adult. I don't even know what kind of clothes I like to wear. My mom doesn't care much about my emotional well being, she criticizes everything I do. She cares about me in general, I know that and I know that she loves me in her own way but the way she treats me is destroying me. Now that I've started to really think about where all my problems came from, the only source I can think of is my mom. She made me hate myself. I self harmed because of her. I shed so many tears because of her. Nothing else fucked me up as much as my mom. She hates herself too and she projects all of her issues on me. And because of her I believed that I'm ugly and worthless as a person. My dad kinda sucks too, not as much, but he hurt me deeply a few times.
I love my parents tho. Even after all the shit they did to me I love them. My mom can be a very funny person if she wants to be. My dad too. But they hurt me so much. And I want to be away from them.
I've been trying to love myself, my looks, my personality. I stopped all the self depriciating jokes, I stopped calling myself ugly or saying "I hate myself" or "I'm going to kill myself". It's only been like two months but I can already feel the difference. Sometimes I look at my body in the mirror and I see something desirable now. And it's an awesome feelings. I'm really starting to see that change is possible. A better life is possible. And I really want it. For the first time in my life I really want to change things.
But I just don't know what to do. My mother controlled everything in my life, she made most decisions for me. So despite some improvements in my mental health, it all feels so out of reach right now.
I'm very lonely. Despite living with two people, I'm lonely. I get to hang out with my coworkers often and they're all cool people but those aren't really meaningful relationships. I don't have people that I can hang out with after work, or chat with, or call. But I spent so many years in isolation, I don't even know how to make friends. I think I have ADHD too which also might make those things harder for me (I heard that people with ADHD struggle with making friends and stuff). I lost every single school friend, even those that I considered to be close friends. I don't know if it's all my fault or if other people were at fault too. But for some reason almost no one wants to try to maitain a friendship with me and it's so upsetting.
I'm afraid of even looking for friends. I'm afraid of letting anyone know that I can't take care of myself, that I don't know the basics of adulthood. It is very embarrassing. I can't let people know that I'm like this, so helpless and clueless. Getting a boyfriend is completely out of the question at this point. I mean who the fuck would even want to love me romantically now? No one wants an adult baby. And this stings so fucking bad now because I've become infatuated with such a nice and funny guy and I haven't been able to think about anything else but him. If I could at least be friends with him, I would be so fucking happy.
I don't even feel alive to be honest. I'm just existing. I want to live, I want to meet new people, I want love and sex, I wanna go to concerts and find new hobbies. I want to make more art and improve my skills since it's my main hobby, I've always loved drawing. I want to try new mediums like painting or sculpting. I'd like to play some instrument too. But it feels out of reach now.
I really don't know what to do, where to start. I'm so lost.
I can't ask my parents for advice. I really wish I had someone who would teach me how to be a person, how to be an adult.
I don't want a life like this.

what ur sam & max headcanons
ok, here some of them from the top of my head cuz i can't remember the rest of them.
Max is a shorter then average lagomorph, and the type of lagomorph he is a none-of-your-damn-business.
Max is a jack rabbit. Funny thing is jack rabbits aren't even rabbits, that's why it easier for him to say he's a lagomorph instead. I mean- he's not wrong.
Sam is trans.
Both Sam and Max have a distant relationship with their moms and a dysfunctional one with their dads. But Sam has a wonderful supportive relationship with his grandmom while Max has an interesting relationship between his siblings. Max like his aunt Tillie more.
Sam's blood is probably tooken over by lil debbies by this point of his life.
Max was the creative soul and Sam is the genius of their friendship when they were kids, until they both became insane lunatics.
Sam was on honor roll all through out school and got the chance to graduate early in high school. Of course he didn't so he can spend more time with Max.
Even though Max's late teen years he had a awakening not a gay one. He realized how much of his life he felt like he's been wasting, not using his full potential or even trying in school and how that is not just fucking up himself but also Sam.
This leads to Max letting go of Sam so he can go to community college while Max does something that lets his creativity shine. He wanted to be a film director but he knew you have to work up to getting that job, so he started as a actor... in "adult" films. His super ego is rolling in his grave
Max also tried and failed to finish making a book.
Max got into a whole ass serious relationship with a woman until he remembered he doesn't like girls. (conveniently when Sam comes back in town)
Max is always living his worst life without Sam.
The reason why Max can't get hypnotized from s1 and why he gets brain powers in s3 is all because of a metal plate in his skull from brain surgery he had off screen before the telltale games. not really a hc but i haven't seen anyone connect the two things
When the two were younger because of Max's awful homelife, Sam's grandmom took pity on him and lets him come over to her house anytime he wants.
Granny ruth is the best parent in the state and was a conviced felon. Which is one of the reasons why she lives in the middle of nowhere.
Max hides is objects in his void behind is back like a cartoon character in looney toons. He doesn't talk about it because it's just unexplainable, like how Sam can somehow put a whole box in his coat pocket. Some things in the world are just not explainable.
Max knows full Spanish growing up and would troll Sam with untranslated jokes or rambling.
Max is rarely scared by anyone but the one who seems to succeed is Thyco. Max and Heavy killed him that poker night, hidden the body and haven't talked about him again... Besides thaat poker night was fun!
Sam listened to [Yes sir, I can Boogie] in the car the whole time Max was gone.
bonus my OLD design of Sam's family
Tumblr media
i wish i could remember more but
1) alot of my hc came from when i first got into snm. so some of them would have changed now
2) im not in a sam and max mood, so this is only some of the stuff.

Headcanons for all the survivors gender/sexuality
Wilson- Just Kinda decided he was gonna be a boy when he was like 8 and his dad was so desperate for an heir that didn’t want him dead to rights he just kinda let it happen. would fuck anyone but at the same time is not interested at all
Willow- Butch-ish but more in a tomboy kinda way. genuinely likes wearing skirts and more feminine clothing but doesn’t really think she deserves to? if that makes sense? (She doesn’t really feel like a genuine legit girl) hardcore lesbian.
Wolfgang- Very traditionally masculine but in the “My job is to protect and take care of everyone” and not the “im a man so I can do whatever I want” type way. Gay but could totally be in a lavender relationship/marriage and have no problems w/ it
WX-78- Born a cis female, figured out early on that wasn’t right but couldn’t change it until they were an adult. Transed their gender but then figured out being a male wasn’t right either. eventually found someone who felt similarly and abandoned their flesh for the machine. solidly aroace. they’re triple a (agender, asexual, aromantic) just like batteries
Wickerbottom- cis female and “traditionally” feminine, has never felt the need to explore or question it. Used to be married to a man who was secretly gay and looking for someone similarly emotionally unavailable. He has since passed but left wicker a small fortune so. alls well that ends well ig
Wes- kind of a stereotypical femme twink. The kinda gay whos loud and proud and will hit you with a brick if you have a problem with that. feels obligated to help the others try and figure themselves out- esp the ones who are more in denial abt it
Maxwell- I think the idea that max is trans and Jack is cis and they turned out looking the exact same is hilarious. Technically the only ppl who knows he’s trans are jack and charlie- their parents just think he’s a masculine woman and everyone else knows him as a man. Bi and so so weak for bears and gently bossy women.
Wendy- Non-binary but still in the process of realizing it. Does not give a single shit abt romance but would totally be qpp with Webber once they know what that means.
Woodie- Probably Not Cis but has too much religious trauma to even dare questioning himself. He’s like JUST accepted the fact that he’s gay (still thinks hes going straight to hell but we’re working on that) so ynknow baby steps. baby steps. Deffo has a shit ton of body dysphoria due to the wereforms tho
Webber- Since spiders work a lil different in the constant (probably more like bees) there are like three genders Webber could potentially see themselves as. Drone, warrior, and queen. During his childhood he thinks of himself mostly as a drone but as he gets older and his sway over the spiders increases they’ll shift into seeing themselves as more of a queen. But other that he’s pretty much whatever non-spider gender is most convenient. Definitely bi.
Wigfrid- her gender is… strange. What she outwardly presents is her character’s way of presenting herself so ig I see her as kinda fluid? Idk valiant-valkyrie if ur reading this you can probably do a better job of explaining it. you are the defacto wigfrid authority. Definitely lesbian but once again will do whatever the role requires
Winona- Solidly butch lesbian. Definitely a caretaker and a protector but in the butch kinda way and not the femme kinda way. if that makes sense.
Wurt- Butch but hasn’t really realized it yet. does not think human genders apply to her bcs she’s a merm and will 100% be king when she grows up. baby lesbiab. her and wilba’s eventual union shall bring peace to the pig/merm kingdoms once and for all
Wortox- human genders do not apply to him. They are whatever is most convenient at the time. Fluid like loki and bugs bunny.
Walter- if xenogenders existed back then he would totally be like pupgender/buggender. Non-binary but has no problem being called a boy/man. Would be fine with any prns but people have only ever used he/him for him. Probably going to be a monsterf*cker when he grows up.
Wormwood- He is plant. Plants have sexes but no genders and wormwood is intersex anyway but they kinda just chose the first option presented to him once he found the others. Loves all but has absolutely no interest or idea about non-plant reproductive activities.
Walani- Yknow that “as a girl who’s a gross dude men who are fancy ladies are my best friends”? Yeah that’s her and Warly. she’s the emotional support golden retriever to warly’s high-strung cheetah. Lesbian but like. endearingly loser lesbian who’s only ever smooth when she’s not trying to be.
Warly- as mentioned before he is very much a guy who is a fancy lady. Would probably do drag if he had the chance and would 100% be the baddest bitch who makes all the men question their sexuality. Gay and european.
Wanda- doesn’t have time for all that gender questioning bullshit she just wants to kiss women.
Wheeler- Solid futch, leans more feminine or masculine depending on the situation. Woman-leaning bisexual, has probably fucked someone wife and inadvertently caused a divorce.
Woodlegs- pretty solidly cis male but 100% an embarrassing old gay grandpa. Doesn’t know much abt the terminology but is incredibly supportive and was definitely a homewrecker back in the day. Probably got out of at least one arrest by seducing the naval officer meant to bring him in
Wilba- high femme and definitely a baby lesbian. I do really like the idea of her being trans just because why not so why not. She and wurt are fat femme x fat butch once they grow up
Wagstaff- born as a girl but realized he hated it and made attempts to transition early on. Eventually ran away to America to fully transition. Non-binary too but hasn’t realized it yet and just thinks that everyone feels weird when someone calls them mr or sir. men-liker and old man yaoi certified
Wilbur- yes I’m doing the monkey. Gender is a strange concept to him, so he just kinda calls himself male bcs apparently he is? He doesn’t really understand it but it seems to be pretty important in human society so he’ll do it if it means he gets respected as an actual person and not just some sideshow.

Summary: Henry adopted (Y/n)’s son when he was two, who now thinks Henry is his dad and he will do anything to protect them from (Y/n)’s abusive ex.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
"Is this your husband, miss?"
With a deep breath, (Y/n) swiped her sleeve under her nose and rubbed at her cheeks to clear the tears away before she dared to look up towards the entrance to the cafe.
Her hands were trembling, shredding the tissue to pieces that was held between her fingers, rubbed raw from tears and her twitching fingers. She could barely stop herself from gasping and choking as she breathed, trying so hard not to draw anymore attention to herself than she already had. The amount of people who had gotten their cameras out to take photos of her in distress was frightening.
It didn't seem to matter that (Y/n) herself wasn't famous or in the public eye, she was married to a movie star and therefore anything she said or did was taken too literally and seeing her in distress was now tabloid headline news.
"Uh, no... that's my brother."
(Y/n) swiped the used tissue under her nose once more before she threw it in the bin next to her.
The whirlwind that had entered the cafe was the equivalent of a hot mess, the symbol for burning rage and the picture of anger. Austin had his hands curled into clenched fists that showed his knuckles about to tear through skin. His eyes were held by deep red veins and the way his law was locked made (Y/n) cringe, she could practically hear his teeth grinding together from this distance.
His usual dark rouge hair that was stuck in place with gel was beginning to uncurl and flop near his ears but he paid it no mind.
His feet clad in black boots stomped over to the reception desk before his eyes locked on his sister sitting on a chair in a corner near to the restrooms.
"Are you alright?"
"I- I think so."
Austin held his arms out towards his baby sister, pulling (Y/n) into his embrace as soon as she was close enough. He could feel her trembling against him in fright and it broke his heart to be holding her like this again after years of seeing her be safe and need no comfort or protection like this.
(Y/n) sighed into his shirt, smiling when she felt him kiss her temple.
It wasn't fair. She shouldn't have to keep turning up on her big brother's doorstep or ring him in desperation, needing comfort and safety. He wasn't her bodyguard and yet (Y/n) had called him for protection more than anything else during the past. She didn't want to do that anymore, she wanted their relationship to go back to being that of close siblings.
(Y/n) wanted to ring Austin and ask him to go out with her and the kids or to go for a night out. She wanted to see him at Sunday dinner round their parents house and have a playful joke around with him or invite him out to an after party.
The time of calling Austin for protection should be over.
They had both lost count of the times (Y/n) had called him in tears begging him to come and stay the night with her or come pick her up. The night she had turned up on his doorstep with bags and a toddler in her arms had been the worst and she had wanted it all to end there.
"Where is the bastard? I'll kill him, I swear I'll murder him this time-"
"Austin stop! He's gone, he left straight away." (Y/n)'s fingers latched round her brother's upper, clenching the skin tightly to try and calm him down. People were starting to look and she couldn't have anymore speculation or scandal around them.
"What did he do?"
Unlatching (Y/n)'s hand from his upper arm, Austin held her wrist instead and gently tugged her over to a corner so they could talk without prying eyes and ears surrounding them.
"He saw the kids and started asking about Bradley, saying he had rights a-and he grabbed me by my hair but the staff saw him..."
(Y/n) rubbed her hand over her mouth, closing her eyes for a few moments to try and compose herself, wanting to erase today from her memory if she could. Six years.
(Y/n) hadn't seen Jason in roughly six years and in that time she had gotten married and had two kids. Her life was finally her own and it was going in the best possible direction. Seeing Jason would only drag her back in the past to where her life was horrid and broken. She couldn't be going back or even thinking back to that point. Never.
"The only rights he has are to be in prison, he comes near you again me and Henry will put him in his grave."
"Uncle Aussie."
Austin's demeanour changed within a second when his eyes set on the little blue-eyed girl who stole his heart every time he saw her. He watched her pigtails bash into her cheeks as she trotted from a far table with her arms stretched out towards him.
"Come on, let's get you all home." Austin's hand moved to guide (Y/n) over to Ginny who was waiting with the pram holding (Y/n)'s youngest. "Buttercup!" He swooped Bella up into his arms, watching his sister with worried eyes as she moved to check on Freddie who was dozing off in his pram.
Jason couldn't walk in and try and break up their family, they wouldn't let him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So, you gonna tell me what happened today?"
Henry tilted his head back against his interlocked hands, spanning his elbows out so they were resting back against the soft headboard behind him. He  could feel the muscles tensing and stretching out in his back and he circled his head round, clicking his neck into place but still keeping his eyes on his wife.
He knew her inside out so he knew when something was off.
Since he came back from taking Bradley to football, he knew (Y/n) wasn't right. She had been going over everything she did, cleaning things twice, moving ornaments and picture frames and candles to try get them set up perfectly. She hadn't eaten much of her tea either so Henry knew that something had gone on since he last saw her this morning.
His eyes followed (Y/n)'s slow movements, watching her fiddle with the strap on her nightdress before she slowly clambered onto the bed beside him. When her eyes didn't manage to meet his gaze he felt a spark of worry lighting up in his chest.
"Babe, what's up?"
"Jason was in the cafe me and Ginny went to today, he saw me... and the kids." (Y/n) felt the way Henry stiffened beside her and his skin started to prickle like something was scratching at him.
"Did he come near you?" Henry lowered his arms and sat forward, feeling the urge to scratch his nails against his legs in frustration when (Y/n) didn't answer him. "Did he touch you, baby tell me what he did!"
Henry couldn't help himself, he leaned forward and cupped (Y/n)'s face in his palms, leaning his forehead against hers to try and get an answer from her. It couldn't have been too bad because Bella was a timid girl, she was only four and if she saw someone threaten or even hurt (Y/n) she would have been traumatised and come straight to tell Henry when he came home.
The thought of Jason seeing (Y/n) was bad enough but knowing he dared to even approach her sent Henry reeling. He had seen the man only a handful of times and not for very long but he was desperate to rip his throat out after all the trouble he had caused.
"H-he grabbed me by the hair but the staff came and he ran-"
"He grabbed you?!" The fire was alight in Henry's eyes and bursting through his voice.
"I'm fine honey I swear he didn't hurt me. I called Austin to come get us as soon as he left. He asked about Bradley, said he had rights but he can't... he can't do anything, can he?"
He had dared to try and grab her and hurt her again when he had been told specifically that he could go no where near (Y/n), he couldn't touch her talk to her and if it was up to Henry he couldn't even look at her. At least he had been caught in the act this time. God knows (Y/n) couldn't go through calling the police again and having to show bruises and cuts but have no witnesses to back up her claims.
(Y/n) shivered when she felt one of Henry's hands leave her face and move to smooth over her hair, carding his fingers through the strands as he brushed his thumb against her cheek. She could see the anger radiating from his skin and  the worry circling round in his eyes. He hated the mention of Jason's name which was very scarcely mentioned at all but more than that he hated how much of a state (Y/n) would get in when talking about him.
"Baby, just breathe for a minute. There is absolutely nothing he can do, okay? You have a restraining order, he can't come within a mile of you and if he does I'll have him arrested for trying."
"Bradley-"
Henry shook his head rapidly and smoothed his thumb over (Y/n)'s lip as if to shush her worries from speaking. He didn't want Bradley and Jason even spoken in the same sentence, he wouldn't hear of it.
"I'll murder him before he comes near Bradley! We have sole custody of him, I adopted him and he's taken my name, he's my son now in every way and that means I've got every right and Jason has none. There's nothing he can do and that means you don't have to worry a bit, okay?"
(Y/n) could feel Henry's chest almost bursting open with how heavy and laboured his breathing was. She burrowed herself further into his bare chest, desperate to comfort them both and calm him down.
She remembered the first time Henry had seen Jason.
Austin had begrudgingly held Henry back from leathering Jason to the pavement, not wanting anyone around to see and take pictures. It wouldn't be good for his image or publicity for anyone to see him starting a fight. As much as Austin had wanted Jason to be pummelled into the ground, he had held the actor back and settled for Henry threatening him to leave.
No one was going to allow him to come within an inch of (Y/n) and Bradley had been hidden from Jason's sight since he was two.
In every which way Henry had become Bradley's father, he had been in his life since he was two and he had taken care of him. Henry was the one to wake up in the night and settle him back to sleep, he was the one to hold him when he was sick or had a fever and took him to hospital. Henry went to his parent's evenings and took him to sports games.
Bradley had been too young to understand when (Y/n) left Jason and then got together with Henry. All he could remember was Henry being there and being his father so that was how things were. Henry adopted him and his last name was changed to Cavill before he could write or understand it had been changed. Henry was his father, that was what Bradley knew and wanted and that was how it was going to stay.
"Dad!"
A mumbled 'talk of the devil' passed through (Y/n)'s lips but she could feel herself relaxing and her soul warming at that one word.
"See, that's my son. Nothing to worry about." Henry pressed a longing kiss to (Y/n)'s lips before he hopped off the bed.

ill probably delete this later but i feel like i always see in fics where both of the blight parents are either somewhat abusive or very distant from amity/the twins. maybe im just looking in the wrong places but i always have this one thought inside of me, a craving if you will... of a fic where instead of them being that way- its amity and alador slowly rebuilding their relationship as parent&adult/teenage child.
because IN MY OPINION (because godforbid people have those on here /lh) i do NOT view alador as that. in my head he is in a small little gray area where odalia was abusive and horrible but he just... was in a space of being trapped.
and that might just be me projecting my own relationship with my dad in a way because for years we were in a place where we would see one another but be super distant. i feel like alador IS that way. not in a sense where he doesnt want to be, but in a way where he doesn't understand how to approach amity- because he in fact doesnt KNOW her apart from how odalia had their relationship. which as we know was of course highly toxic and not even a bit of warmth.
for so often i see odalia and him being horrible people, but i dont ever see a story of an aftermath of odalia being the toxic one and amity finally getting away as an adult and finally being herself. maybe thats my own projection but god as a child of divorce there was a lot of slowly pacing around one another cautiously because me and my dad didnt understand how to approach the other!!
but despite this alador still shows up to every event amity has. he shows up to EVERYTHING. and not in a superiority way that odalia was because of the blight name and all, but in a sense of "i know you like this thing and i want to support you so ill be here to try"
and odalia being distant as hell. you cannot tell me that if this was a human au that she would be the parent to never show up for school functions. yk and growing up its really never discussed how damaging it is to not have your parents there like that- well... kinda imo. but hes always showing up because HES TRYING. and like... he doesnt understand how to approach her because he doesnt know who she is, just the same as he doesnt understand who HE is since all hes known is what odalia had him be. but he KNOWS thats not him. he knows hes a different person, because HE DOESNT WANT TO BE HER.
for so long he had everything decided and its him breaking free, JUST LIKE CANON!
i always hear about them being abusive, but i never see a fic where alador and amity are slowly mending things in a sense of "were okay now. and im trying. i love you. please lets make this work."

another love letter to your subject 3 series. cuz. im obsessed. “dilf” “real” is my favorite interaction . ever. i love the relationship between aphmau and reader! like the older/younger sister they never had. its really sweet to see how they care about each other and stick together, even if they met not too long ago (and dont remember eachother). the contrast but similarities are so sweet i just love seeing them together. you pointed out in chapter 1 that “It was like her anxiety had overpowered yours, making you somehow feel a sense of guardianship over her.” and i think it describes them perfectly. cant wait to see how aaron and reader interact as well. theres a lot of ways you could write their relationship and im exited to see how you do! ein too tbh. hope reader sets him straight 🫶 (gives him the ivy treatment. watch gene pull up again like guess what quality i got the photo in. guess.) and the moms!! i think a mom trio makes more sense than a duo but. thats just me. they are soooo silly. zane noticing(?) the tears in readers eyes at the end of and a dinner…… my maternal instincts are acting up towards every character in this series lowkey. and our dad (trying to) give us a switchblade. and the moms exclaiming that it IS in fact on sight if anyone messes with their girls. catch THEM giving ein the ivy treatment. our dad and garte are recording w gene if you look closely. sorry none of these thoughts are in order i just need to ramble.

me reading this after spending my day at work wondering if my story building and planning was bad or not 😭😭😭 thank you so much
it genuinely makes me so happy that people are liking the fic so much, i’ve put a ton of effort and time into it so far :,) you made my day with this it means so much
i really wanted to write the characters having meaningful and trusting relationships that go deeper than surface level, so i’m really glad that’s coming across like i hoped!! i personally highly value platonic relationships and i really love writing about them!! plus i also want to make the adults way more reliable and involved than they are in the show. for as insanely protective as they act and are described, they don’t do a whole lot of… protecting and involving themselves?? idk i just feel like there should be more of that

An hour later he was at the airport.
Two hours after that he was in the air.
Seven hours after that he was touching down in San Francisco.
Another hour and he was getting into the rental car that would take him to literally the last place on earth he ever wanted to return: Beacon Hills, California.
